  1. Yeah, Shah Rukh Khan may have one of the biggest fandoms in the country, but it is only rivalled by just one other fandom - the fandom of his wit. It's hard not to talk about his clever responses, especially on social media, because the man is a freaking genius when it comes to that! © Instagram SRK has proven, time and again, that he'll always have something hilarious and clever to say about everything, and sometimes, it veers into the self-deprecating category, and people are always here for that. King Khan has always received high accolades for his brilliant performances, but it seems like he's in a bit of a slump recently, career-wise, and it looks like he is fully aware of that. Poking fun at that very aspect, he had a hilarious reaction to his wife Gauri Khan being a part of Architectural Digest 100 and winning an award for it. 3. For someone who has been tipped as MS Dhoni's successor, Rishabh Pant has blown hot and cold in his brief international career. The left-hander showed promise early in his career, but the past 14 months haven't really convinced anyone. His mediocre outing in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was the most recent testimony to the batsman's slump in form. Managing to score a mere 343 runs in 14 matches, Pant was a noticeable problem in the Delhi Capitals batting line-up. While his poor IPL 2020 run earned him flak, it eventually saw him getting dropped from India's limited-overs squad for the tour of Australia. As India went on to lose the ODI series before winning the T20Is duel, Pant seems to have worked on his batting which was quite prevalent in their tour game. © Twitter/@BCCI After getting dismissed for just five runs in the first innings, Pant looked like a man on a mission when he walked out to bat in the second innings against Australia A. The left-hander was at his menacing best, clubbing the opposition all around the park during his unbeaten 73-ball 103, which was laced with nine fours and six sixes, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The Delhi lad was batting on 81, that came off just 67 balls, when Jack Wildermuth ran in to bowl the final over of the second day's play. The right-arm seamer surprised Pant on the first delivery with his pace and bounce before hitting him in the ribs. But, despite the blow, the Indian wicket-keeper responded with great intent, clobbering the Aussie for 22 runs (4,4,6,44) off the final five deliveries of the over. While handing Wildermuth a pasting thoroughly showcased Pant's regained confidence and self-belief in his batting abilities, it also propelled him to a blazing hundred which, in turn, bolstered his case for selection ahead of Wriddhiman Saha in India's playing XI for the Adelaide Test. Not picked in ODI series. Not picked in T20 series. Failed in first innings. Brings up hundred from just 73 balls in the second innings, Pant is freak. pic.twitter.com/SXikQKmHNG — Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) December 12, 2020 Pant's return to form is a much-needed boost for India who face the biggest test of their tour in the four-match Test series. If playing the Aussies in their own backyard poses a challenge, the fact that India have noticeable omissions in their squad, needless to mention captain Virat Kohli's absence after the 1st Test owing to a paternity leave, further makes theirs a tough situation. Update: At the end of the 1st session on Day 2, India are 111-2 after 27 overs and lead Australia A by 197 runs. M Agarwal - 38* S Gill - 65 M Steketee - 1/33 pic.twitter.com/HNVZNR8k0H — BCCI (@BCCI) December 12, 2020 Apart from Pant, India and their fans had more to cheer for as the likes of Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal, too, looked in good touch during the warm-up match. Gill did look good in the first innings, but his 65-run knock in the second innings looked more convincing. Mayank also managed to overcome his anxiety from the first-innings failure with better application and temperament during a 61-run knock in the second innings. ??! We have the first centurion of the three-day pink ball game and it is @Hanumavihari who completes a fine century! ???? India 339/4 and lead Australia A by 425 runs. pic.twitter.com/JgJETSLp5r — BCCI (@BCCI) December 12, 2020 In the middle-order, Hanuma Vihari also looked solid during his unbeaten ton. Carefully negotiating the testing conditions, Vihari did really well to convert his start into a three-digit score. The right-hander was patient for the right deliveries to play his shot. And his picture-perfect on-drive was a treat to watch. Gill's solid performance has given India an alternative at the opening slot, especially with Prithvi Shaw struggling to get going. The Mumbai batsman did score a 29-ball 40 in the first innings, but his inability to avoid risky and aerial shots spelled Pant's doom as he could only score three runs in the second innings. With Gill looking good, India might fancy replacing him with Shaw at the top to partner Mayank. With the 1st Test slated to begin from 17th December, India will be desperate to fix the gaping holes in the team in a bid to outsmart the hosts at the Adelaide Oval. While the Indian team management might still be considering all options before finalising the best-possible playing XI, the likes of Pant, Vihari, Gill and Mayank hitting the ground running will surely make them feel better. 5. Often labelled as one of the most popular and successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), to everyone's surprise this season, have looked a mere shadow of the three-time champions we cherished in the past. From losing key players, struggling for form to unfavourable results, nothing has gone CSK's way in the tournament this year. With seven losses in 10 matches, the Chennai brigade is currently languishing at the last spot in the points table. Their recent seven-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) has potentially ended their Playoffs hopes and the fans aren't impressed. Amid CSK's poor run, skipper MS Dhoni has drawn a lot of flak for the fortunes of the 'Yellow Brigade' this season. © Twitter/@IPL The Punjab opener had anchored the chase for his team with a brilliant knock of 77 runs which allowed them to tie the match and push it into a 'Super Over'. Facing a daunting task of defending just five runs in an over, Punjab were once again aided by Rahul whose brilliant piece of glovework, that led to the run-out of Quinton de Kock, allowed his team to tie the first 'Super Over' before eventually winning it in the second. My thala ️️ pic.twitter.com/Av7DUPyn8R — ɢαjαl (@Gajal_Dalmia) October 18, 2020 Rahul's performance with the willow had already earned him plaudits, but it was his exceptional run-out that became the highlight of the match. The right-handed batsman was lauded by cricket pundits and fans alike on social media. Amongst all the praise, one Punjab fan shared the photo of Rahul's run-out on Twitter alongside the caption: "My Thala". There is only one Thala Gajal and everyone knows who he is. — K L Rahul (@klrahul11) October 19, 2020 In response to the fan's tweet, Rahul, who can't seem to do any wrong this season, won many hearts by reminding everyone that there is only one Thala. "There is only one Thala Gajal and everyone knows who he is," Rahul replied. A thrilling win against Mumbai did give Punjab a ray of hope to turn their fortunes this season but the road ahead is extremely tough. Having lost six games in nine matches so far, the Rahul-led side have little margin for error if they intend to make the cut for the Playoffs this season. And, their next clash, which against table-topper Delhi Capitals (DC) on October 20, is not going to be easy either. View the full article
  6. Elon Musk is the most unusual billionaire, and we don't even know what he'll do, because it's always the unexpected. Along with being the genius owner of Tesla and SpaceX, he's also basically a troll on Twitter at this point. Just going through his tweets sometimes makes me question, "how high is this guy right now?" And well, I of course picture this iconic moment. © Twitter Now, we all know that Tesla's latest exciting offering is the Cybertruck, which looks like something we all drew as a kid, and it's so weird that it's actually cool. People have already pre-booked this unique looking car/truck/whatever and Elon himself has been driving the prototype around LA for months, increasing the hype even more. Along with sharing 'dank memes', he also regularly answers questions by people about his various cars and this time he was discussing the Cybertruck with a few people and said that it can even float for a while. 7. With no signs of the Coronavirus ending anytime soon, a complete lockdown all over the world continues to be in order. People arenât supposed to get out of their houses, working from home seems to be the only way to make things happen and sports, as we know it, has come to a sudden halt. Under such circumstances, it is obvious that the average time a person spends on his phone is going to increase rapidly. Gaming, streaming movies and web series, and reading articles on your smartphone are all bound to go up. Not sure how I feel about this ð¤·ð½ââï¸ #quarantinelife #SocialDistancing #screentime #COVIDã¼19 pic.twitter.com/qBvg1ejmtI â Eric K. Singhi, MD (@esinghimd) March 23, 2020 Even though COVID-19 is the scare of the hour, doctors are worried about a very specific kind of problem that has emerged as the byproduct of the lockdown against the virus - the âsmartphone pinkyâ syndrome. According to Dr Sachin Bhonsle, Sr. Consultant, Orthopedic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital Mulund, âthe regular use of phones, especially the one with a bigger and wider screen to type messages or emails causes the thumb and the other fingers to be over-used, through repetitive movements.â © Pexels As days of under lockdown go by, more and more people are complaining about pains and developing a deformity in their little finger (pinky finger). âShort term, this causes hypermobility of the smaller joints around the fingers; the ligaments of the thumb gradually become slightly stressed. Looking at this long term, over-use of the fingers causes stress in a repetitive manner and can further lead to Osteoarthritis, as the cartilage between the joints begins to degenerate,â he says. âWhen Arthritis sets in the fingers, there is a possibility of excess bone formation around the joints, which can then lead to enlargement or deformation of the finger.â © Pexels To what extent will the degenerative changes take place depends on multiple factors such as diet, family history and underlying health conditions but there are a few steps to combat this problem and nip it in the bud: 1. Avoid using your smartphone too often. 2. If you are using it, use it for shorter durations. 3. Divide texting or gaming time into shorter sessions. © Pexels 4. Take a break and put down your phone before your hand starts hurting. 5. Exercise your hand by stretching your fingers. 6. Instead of typing, use the swipe keyboard or use speech. 7. Use a stand for your mobile phone or airplay the content on TV. 8. If your hand is hurting, take an over-the-counter pain reliever to reduce swelling and inflammation. 9. Switch hands at periodic intervals, so the device isnât held in one hand for a long time. Staying at home all seven days of the week and not going out from time to time can get frustrating and our mobile phones have become one of the top ways to vent it out but during these testing times, you donât need more reasons to worry about, right? So, show your pinky finger some mercy and keep that phone aside for some time! View the full article
  8. A mechanic in Russia was killed and his girlfriend was left injured when they both got a massive electric shock as he plugged in his mobile charger into the outlet. Kirill Matveev was killed due to electrocution and his girlfriend who was next to him also got injured in the process. She was unable to save him in time as she received an electric shock as well but survived the ordeal. © VT Matveev was a 20-year old mechanic who died on Monday due to the electrocution. His girlfriend Mira Polyshina called the emergency services but they were unable to save Matveev in time. The Investigative Committee in Russiaâs Mari El Republic said the likely cause was âdue to problems with the insulation of the wiringâ on the charger. "He put the smartphone on charge and got a shock, as did his girlfriend, The young man died at the scene.â said a spokesman. © Unsplash Chargers need to be insulated or in other terms have ground insulation to protect users from such accidents. Ground pins are provided in plugs for the very same reason as the pin is attached to the body of the charger. This enables a charger to absorb large current flows through the ground pin of the socket to the ground. This is a protection measure most appliances have to take in order to prevent people from getting electrocuted by mistake. Having said that, many chargers donât come with ground insulation as they do not have any exposed metal. There is a good chance that the charger used by Matveev did not have proper insulation or the wire may have been damaged, leading to direct current flow to the body when it came in contact. Everyday appliances such as lamps, fans, radios, and mobile chargers donât come with a grounded pin for this very reason. View the full article
  9. If you have been an Apple Watch user, you may have gotten bored with the design of the smartwatch as it has remained unchanged for years. There was an old rumour that showed off renders of the upcoming Apple Watch 6 and someone made a video featuring the Apple Watch in a different avatar. © YouTube/Phone Industry The video was made by a YouTube account called Phone Industry and in the video, we can see the Apple Watch re-imagined as a round-faced smartwatch instead of the traditional square shape we all know. The video looks incredible as it showcases all the details that could feature on the Apple Watch sometime in the future. If you look closer, the design of the smartwatch has a fabric-like material around the bezels and a new digital crown that doesnât really look like a crown anymore. The new digital crown design is based on recent leaks that Apple might ditch the iconic dial for a new design. Having said that, the rounded design comes with its own problems. © YouTube/Phone Industry Due to the small footprint of the rounded case, Apple will not be able to fit in a larger battery due to which this design doesnât look feasible. Apple has been wanting to improve the battery life on the App Watch for sleep tracking features and due to this reason, we may not see a circular design anytime soon. The video claims that the Apple Watch could have 48 hours of battery life with the circular design, however we recommend you take this information with a pinch of salt. At the moment, it doesnât feel like Apple can achieve that kind of battery life especially since batteries have not advanced when it comes to efficiency. The Apple Watch Series 5 can run for 18 hours on a single charge and the Cupertino giant plans to use microLED displays in future devices. It could fundamentally result in a more efficient design, however we can only know that once Apple actually puts the new display to test on a smartwatch this year. 10. An aggressive seamer who banks on his ability to swing the ball away by hitting the pitch hard, Shardul Thakur continues to rise through the ranks and seems to be well on his way to becoming a vital cog in the Indian bowling unit. The right-arm bowler had already proved his worth playing under MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which, in turn, earned him a national call-up in 2017. But, ever since his national debut, Thakur has evolved significantly, working on his pace and adding key variations to his armoury, to become more effective and efficient in limited-overs cricket. His reinvented vigour and improved skillset saw him producing one of the most memorable performances of his career on 10th January. © Twitter/@BCCI During the third and decisive Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Sri Lanka, Thakur's all-round performance played a key role in Virat Kohli & Co's 78-run victory and, in turn, a 2-0 series win. Known for his fiery seam bowling, Thakur won everyone over for his blitzkrieg with the willow, batting lower down the order. After a brilliant start, India lost its way in the middle, losing six wickets for 57 runs including the key dismissals of Kohli and KL Rahul. Coming out to bat, with India desperately needing some acceleration to their scoring rate, Thakur hammered Lasith Malinga for a massive six only on his second delivery of the match. © Twitter/@BCCI In the final over, Thakur continued to display his batting might, smashing Lahiru Kumara for a six and four on successive deliveries before Manish Pandey scored another boundary to ensure the Lankan seamer ended up conceding 19 runs. While Pandey did play his part with his 18-ball 31, it was Thakur's eight-ball 22 that powered India to a mammoth total of 201 runs. Following his eye-catching batting performance, Thakur went on to impress everyone with his bowling show. Extracting early swing from the white ball, Thakur got the better of Avishka Fernando in his very first over to hand India the second breakthrough. In the 14th over, Thakur struck again to send Dasun Shanaka back into the hut. Meet Mr. Man of the Match!#ShardulThakur ðððððð#INDvSL #SLvIND #INDvsSL #SLvsIND pic.twitter.com/EcMvSFmaEC — BlueCap ð®ð³ (@IndianzCricket) January 10, 2020 For someone who took three wickets at the expense of 23 runs in the 2nd T20I, Thakur carried on his ominous form to score an eight-ball 22 and record impressive bowling figures of 2-19 to rightly deserve the 'Man of the Match' award. And, the Mumbai cricketer was quite understandably ecstatic to do good for his team. © Twitter/@BCCI "I believe I have the ability (to bat) and recently I've been practising well. The idea is that if I can contribute runs at No.8 it'll be good for the team,” Thakur said after the match. Talking about his bowling, Thakur said: “I can bowl good outswingers, so initially the idea is to swing the ball. If you swing the ball in any conditions, you can get wickets”. Given his recent performance, especially his clinical show in the recently-concluded T20I series against the Lankans, Thakur is surely making the right kind of noises to garner the attention of Indian selectors who will find it pretty hard to overlook the 28-year-old before finalising the Team India squad for the all-important ICC World T20, slated to begin from 18th October in Australia. 11. While the Indian cricket team ended the decade with a historic series win against the West Indies in Cuttack, their fans already have something special to look forward to as the calendar turns to January 2020. Three months ago, the national team's star bowler, Jasprit Bumrah experienced a stress fracture in his lower back ahead of the Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy against South Africa. Nonetheless, the cricketer went out with a bang, scalping seven wickets in the second Test match against a hosting West Indies team whilst helping his side get the win ahead of being diagnosed with the injury. Fair bit happened on day two in Jamaica - Ishant Sharma's maiden Test fifty, Jason Holder's five and Hanuma Vihari's 100. Oh, and that bloke Bumrah with a hat-trick and six of the seven West Indies wickets... #WIvIND https://t.co/Er59hh1Nxc pic.twitter.com/Moxz3e7PE1 — cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) August 31, 2019 While Bumrah did a standup job in letting the fans know about his road to recovery, there was some tension in the air, especially due to the fact that stress fractures have proven to be devastating for cricketers in the past; just ask England's James Anderson and Australia's James Pattinson and they will cry their eyes out to you. View this post on Instagram Coming soon! ðªð¼ A post shared by jasprit bumrah (@jaspritb1) on Oct 29, 2019 at 12:15am PDT So, when the BCCI announced the squad to confirm Bumrah's inclusion for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI series against Australia that follows, it was a breath of relief for the country mainly because of two reasons. One, a healthy Bumrah can pick up his career right from where he left it three months ago and two, India desperately needed his excellence to be a genuinely good bowling attack once again. India's T20 squad against Sri Lanka: Virat Kohli (Capt), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer,Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav,Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar#INDvSL — BCCI (@BCCI) December 23, 2019 India's ODI squad against Australia: Virat Kohli (Capt),Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul,Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Rishabh Pant (wk, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal,Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini,Jasprit Bumrah,Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami. — BCCI (@BCCI) December 23, 2019 Even though Deepak Chahar was doing 'OK' with the new ball, he was getting slammed out of the park in the death overs. His swings worked only so much and made him go out of variations once a set batsmen got a good read on him. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami justifiably couldn't shoulder the responsibility single-handedly, especially when odd weather conditions made it difficult for the spinners to work their magic. © Reuters With Hardik Pandya's unavailability and the unfortunate two-month sit-out for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, thanks to the National Cricket Academy's negligence, the situation begged for Bumrah to rise from the ashes. Even though the Windies failed to make the most out of the situation (and they nearly did), replacing Chahar with Bumrah would have ensured a whitewash series win against the Carribeans in both white-ball formats of the game. This was simply because of Bumrah's ability to act as an enforcer and provide results (or at least prevent bad results) at any moment of the bowling attack. It is this unique quality of his that made him the nuclear weapon for skipper Virat Kohli during the ICC World Cup 2019. © Reuters From trapping South African batsmen Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock in the early overs of India's tournament opener to deeming the lower order of the Sri Lankan batting order useless, and even acting as damage control during the New Zealand contest in a losing effort, Bumrah was clearly the pillar Indian bowling massively depended on. Why is it that you don't see batsmen 'experiment' with their shots when it is Bumrah on the other side of the pitch? Miss the ball for a millisecond and you give away your wicket to one of his darting yorkers, swing the bat in the air carelessly off one of his bouncers and there is a fielder ready to dismiss you. Seldom does this freak of a pacer gives away extras and easy full-tosses are hard to come by. © Reuters Such is the terror of Bumrah, a man who doesn't look more intimidating than a Teletubby. And it is this terror that Virat Kohli's India thrived on for the better half of 2019. What does the new year and the new decade have in store for Bumrah, we are not sure. All we know is, the Men in Blue are exponentially better when "Boom Boom Bumrah" is there to back them up. View the full article
  12. For a cricketer who led India to new heights in international cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have reached the twilight of his illustrious career, but his absence, amid an ongoing sabbatical, has clearly left a void in the national team. He may no longer be the finisher we once knew and even as his age is catching up with him, there is little doubt over his glovework behind the stumps. His unorthodox style of wicketkeeping, just like his batting, has allowed him to be labelled as one of the most effective and street-smart keepers in the world. So much so, that even as the Indian selectors seem to have moved on to grooming young Rishabh Pant as his possible successor behind the stumps, Dhoni continues to be missed on the field. During the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Bangladesh, the absence of Dhoni behind the stumps was rued, not only by the Indian team but also by the cricket fans. During the sixth over of the Bangladesh innings at Rajkot, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Team India were denied a certain wicket thanks to over-excited Pant's stumping blunder. Chahal's brilliant delivery turned sharply from the middle-stump and completely deceived Bangladesh opener Liton Das, who found himself stranded outside the crease after coming down the pitch. #RishabhPant messes up !! ð¤¦ð»‍âï¸ð¤¦ð»‍âï¸ð¤¦ð»‍âï¸ pic.twitter.com/3rEVqnNG7Z — Nishant Barai (@barainishant) November 7, 2019 But, what was supposed to be an easy stumping, eventually turned into a no-ball as Pant collected the ball just before the stumps. The stumping was referred to the third umpire and the replays highlighted that Pant's gloves were not behind the stumps before he collected the ball and whipped the bails off. According to MCC's rule, 27.3 on wicketkeeping, the keeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker's end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler. Sadly, Pant needed a reminding of that rule - one that he eventually learnt the hard way, as Indian cricket fans took the youngster to task on social media. @RishabhPant17 #INDvBAN Audience waiting for Rishabh pant to do wicket keeping like Dhoni. pic.twitter.com/crS5sIFN2Y — Debasish (@DebaDBhaduri) November 8, 2019 Me after seeing Rishabh Pant keep'ng in #INDvBAN T20I Series.#IndvsBan pic.twitter.com/8juWK6HGww — Liberal_Indian ð®ð³ (@GopalCh28653657) November 8, 2019 Rishabh Pant's gloves are like subtitles in a pirated movie. After restricting the visitors to 153/6, Rohit played a captain's knock, a 43-ball 85, and was adequately supported by Shikhar Dhawan (31) and Shreyas Iyer (24) to help the hosts level the three-match series 1-1. 13. The ICC World Cup 2019 match between India and Pakistan saw two very different kinds of reactions from people from all around the world. The Men in Green were bashed online for their lack of fitness, their casual attitude towards a match with the kind of stature that 'India vs Pakistan' normally possesses and the horrible team management and decision-making by the skipper to bowl first after winning the toss. After a certain point, the match become so one-sided that it was almost hilarious. Credit to the fans of Pakistani cricket, who took this loss in good stride and did not shy away from comically criticising their own players for the debacle of a match that they had just played. On the other hand, after the kind of domination the Indian cricket team displayed against Sarfaraz Ahmed's side, the fans of the Men in Blue did not hesitate in complementing their prowess in both batting and bowling as well as Virat Kohli's brilliance as the leader of a powerful team. However, after the match was over, Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh shared a one of a kind video that perfectly depicted what every fan of the Bleed Blue army was feeling after defeating their cricketing rivals for the seventh straight time on the World Cup platform. 14. Kartik Aaryan may have started small in the industry, but the man has now broken all the stereotypes of an outsider not making a mark in Bollywood, and has established himself as a superstar. Kartik became the national crush just after his debut with 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' and from that point on, there was no stopping him. The star is basking right now in his much-deserved glory after the success of his films like 'Luka Chuppi', 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' and 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2'. He has gained popularity amongst the youth as well as family audiences and this is why he has become the go-to actor for even the popular brands. Kartik was much appreciated for his role in 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' and the songs from the movie were at the top of everyone's party playlists. And now, looks like Kartik has found a new fan, courtesy his song 'Bom Diggy Diggy'. His song has got the attention of our Desi Girl's hubby Nick Jonas, who has now become Kartik's fan. We wonder how would Kartik react to this rather interesting development. It will be interesting to see Nick grooving with Kartik to this song. "There have been situations in my life where I thought that it's not working out. During my struggling days also, I used to think, 'I don't know what's going to happen.' 15. Shorts are one piece of clothing that men of all ages must have in their closets. No matter what the occasion, they can be a part of the ultimate outfit, no matter what sort of a fashion statement you are trying to make. And, if like Varun Dhawan, you have the physique and the legs to rock them, even better. Take notes, guys... 1. Dress According To Your Strengths © Instagram/varundvn Just look at him and tell us you don't envy that. You can't, can you? Varun, in these white ripped denims and white and blue trainers, goes on to show how you can flaunt your legs, as well as your washboard abs by dressing right. On a side note, who would've thought wearing denims to a gym would actually work? Kudos Varun, way to go! 2. Loose Fits Are Dope © Instagram/varundvn A loose-fitting pair is the key to a super hip look. Pair it with an oversized jersey, and matching trainers, and you have the ultimate athleisure trifecta. And if you can add on a sports cap or a beanie, well, that's the cherry on top of an ultra-hip athleisure sundae. Just make sure that the pieces you pair are loose-fitting, not overtly oversized. That just does not look good. 3. Consider Your Colours © Instagram/varundvn As awesome as Varun looks with his pet, his outfit simply takes the cake here. Pairing a denim jacket and pair of coloured shorts worked wonders for him. Add to that, the fact that his sneakers happen to match the primary colours of his outfit. That was just a masterstroke. We seriously suggest that you go for something like this for your next casual outing with your gang of bros. 4. Khaki Shorts Can be Funky © Viral Bhayani Earthy tones and hues do not necessarily have to be all sober and uncool. Case in point would be this distressed khaki shorts, that Dhawan pairs with a black suede jacket and flip flops. Looks perfect for a lazy evening spent around, or a casual dinner with your gang. What's more, because this look is rather simple and subtle, you can always add an element or two to funk things up a bit. Like Dhawan's flip flops. 5. Prints Are Fun © Viral Bhayani The pair of shorts that Varun wore to Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's birthday bash was a class apart, along with the way that he combined his outfit. A maroon shirt with embroidered and printed flowers, with a white denim shorts, with abstract print stains? Count us in. A rather cool and artsy look, the sombreness of the outfit gets offset thanks to the ragged edge of the short and the blue NHL cap.
  16. Born in the locality of Behala in Kolkata, Sourav Chandidas Ganguly has been one of the most successful Indian cricketers, period. His aggressive batting style along with his eventually developed bowling and his relentless methods of leading a team as prestigious as the Men in Blue has left no doubt in the minds of the cricket-mad people of the country and those abroad. However, when 'Dada' decided to take up the role of a 'Special Advisor' to the Ricky Ponting-coached Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) little did he realise that his secondary role of being the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal might become somewhat of a hurdle of him being actively involved in the biggest cricketing league within India. Concerned about the possibility of 'conflict-of-interest' given the former Indian skipper's dual-role within the cricket fraternity of India, three fans of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman and Ethics Officer, DK Jain. The trio demanded a convincing justification from the former KKR captain with regards to the move he made in March. © Twitter/@IPL According to the Press Trust of India (PTI) , this is how the cricketer responded: "In my respectful submission there is no direct or indirect interest, compromising roles, commercial conflict, prior relationship or position of influence within the meaning of the BCCI Constitution which may deter my involvement with the Delhi Capitals." Having said that, ever since Ganguly has assumed the role of the 'Special Advisor' to the Delhi-based franchise, no one has been able to articulate what exactly is the legend going to be doing in his new journey with the Capitals. When Dada has first joined the team, Times of India reported that he would be working closely with the head-coach Ricky Poting. And recently when TOI asked the Australian about his relationship with his former rival, Ponting said that the two think in a similar fashion. "We have got very similar ideas and views on the game which has made us work well together. I love working with him." Even then, not even the head-coach himself, could describe Ganguly's role with the team. The closest to what felt like an actual contribution by the Bengali cricketer, according to Poting, was that Ganguly was spending time with all the southpaw batsmen of the team such as Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant, getting them ready for the Eden pitch, but is that it? © Twitter/@IPL What's worse is that not even the official website for the franchise acknowledges him as a member of the team, neither as one of the coaches nor as a staff member. Jeopardising an honourable role, one that of the president of a cricket board of a region, therefore doesn't quite settle in with the lack of recognition Dada is getting in return.

  19. In a wonderful meetup ahead of the first match for Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede stadium, Delhi's newly appointed team advisor Sourav Ganguly shared a few moments with Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi meets Dada and it will surely give you goosebumps ðððð»#CricketMeriJaan #MIvDC @YUVSTRONG12 @SGanguly99 pic.twitter.com/yPmeaLWUT0 — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) March 22, 2019 After sharing a couple of laughs, the two legends of the game were parting ways when Dada said: “Have a great season, play like Yuvraj Singh...”. And boy, did Yuvi oblige to the statement just a day later. Now, if there is someone who the Indian cricket fans expect to bounce back after having years of bad run with the game, it has to be the 37-year-old, son of Punjab, Yuvraj Singh. Time and again, Singh has shown his worth as a fighter, a warrior, not only inside the circular, green field but in the biggest race of life when he came triumphant, out of the battle against cancer, which was diagnosed in 2012. Nearly seven years later, last evening, in his first match as a Mumbai Indian, Singh once again turned back the clock and appeared to be the same beast of a man who hit six 6's in an over against England in a group stage match of the first edition of ICC World T20, 12 years ago. In MI's season opener against Shreyas Iyer's Delhi Capitals, Yuvi scored a total of 53 runs in just 35 deliveries, which also included five boundaries and three maximums. Rolling back the clock and HOW! A fifty on his #MI debut. Keep fighting, @YUVSTRONG12 ð#CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #OneFamily #MIvDC pic.twitter.com/Otcjf8wbot — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) March 24, 2019 Even though Mumbai went down swinging in a losing effort to chase DC's massive total of 213, the 53-run inning has to feel like a personal victory to the Chandigarh-born, who got to raise the bat in celebrating the half-ton for the first time in two years in the IPL. What makes the feat a lot more commendable is the brains that came along with all the brawn in Yuvi's primary game as the member of the MI Paltan. Losing skipper Rohit Sharma and the Proteas wicket-keeper-batsman, Quinton de Kock early in the early overs, the responsibilities on the veteran's shoulders multiplied. However, when the left-handed batsman took to the crease, he looked calm and composed, only to send a couple of deliveries over the boundary with extreme ease, shortly after. “I took my time there. The wickets were falling and I thought if I take a chance early, we (don't) want to end getting close to the game, so I just took my time. I am happy with the way I was hitting the ball,” Yuvraj said, in the post-game press conference. 20. Sanath Jayasuriya is one of the greatest names of the past generation of the cricketing world. Having played against the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting, Jayasuriya's path to greatness is studded with great achievements and immense success both as a batsman and also as the captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team. When you are that successful, your fame and image in the society becomes that much important to you and must be protected with all your heart. Having being looked up to as a role model, an inspiration to the younger generation of not the Sri Lankan fans but also those around the world, it was highly essential for someone like Jayasuriya to protect his legacy from even the smallest of stains, and this one is a biggie. After being charged with the breaching of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code on two counts in October 2018 [one, failing to provide timely evidence and document as requested by ICC, and two, delaying or obstructing ICC's investigation against corruption] the former Sri Lanka Cricket Chair of Selector has been banned from the sport and any activity related to it. BREAKING: Sanath Jayasuriya has been charged with two counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Full details: https://t.co/O4kTg0b1j2 pic.twitter.com/1bJsTg9WTP — ICC (@ICC) October 15, 2018 Jayasuriya accepted the sanctions, however it was the letter of justification for his actions and why he failed to provide timely assistance to the ICC in their war against corruption, that the former cricketer later uploaded on Twitter that seems to have irked many of his fans. Message to my fan... pic.twitter.com/YFeCR4opEs — Sanath Jayasuriya (@Sanath07) February 26, 2019 Ever since the beginning of the letter, it feels as if Jayasuriya is trying to hide his guilt. “It is clear that there were no Corruption charges, Betting charges or Misuse of Inside Information charges levelled against me under the Code.” However, failing to provide material evidence which is at the disposal of the suspect is deemed as obstruction of justice and is considered to be an act to hide a crime, which is why the Anti-Corruption unit banned the former skipper. Later on, in the letter, Jayasuriya says after he was slapped with the allegations of violating the Anti-Corruption Code on two counts, he had two options: 1. Deny all said charges and fight them in the Anti-Corruption Tribunal 2. Accept all charges and face the sanctions His reason behind choosing the latter is not only baseless and childish but also hints at his fear of what could have happened if the case had gone to the Tribunal. “It was understood that such a process would exhaust a lot of time, resources, efforts… and money from both the ICC ACU and myself.” Wow. Finally, in an attempt to give a small boost to his pride, he went on to say that he “voluntarily” suspended himself from his duties. 21. 20th February has to be the Kiwi medium-fast bowler, Tim Southee's favourite day of the year. Today, in the third and final match of the three-game ODI series against Bangladesh, the 30-year-old bowler single-handedly dismantled the entire batting order of the Bengal Tigers in a massive 6-wicket-haul, giving out 65 runs in 9.1 overs and sealing the clean sweep (3-0) in favour of New Zealand whilst being awarded the Man of the Match. NEW ZEALAND SWEEP SERIES 3-0 A brilliant 6/65 for Tim Southee, to go with a run-out. The paceman wraps up the Bangladesh innings, and New Zealand win the final ODI by 88 runs.#NZvBAN SCORECARD â¬ï¸https://t.co/crmF5y8m8H pic.twitter.com/BAzNYNBUQS — ICC (@ICC) February 20, 2019 Exactly four years ago, today, the phenomenal bowler had shown similar brilliance against England in a group stage match during the ICC World Cup 2015. With a roster loaded with talents like Ian Bell, Joe Root and Moeen Ali, England was ready to take over the match as they decided to bat first after winning the toss. Little did they know that the then 26-year-old Southee had brought along a barrage of variations which nobody had expected. After bowling out English opener Ian Bell in the fifth over, the wickets fell like ninepins and once Adam Milne and Daniel Vettori dismissed Root and skipper Eoin Morgan, respectively, there was no stopping Southee. Literally, every batsman after Morgan was sent back to the dressing room by Tim, while wrapping up the Englishmen's innings in a hurry in just 34 overs of a below-average total of 123. The Kiwis did not take long to move on as they matched England's total and won the game in just 12.2 overs. Now that's a great win @BLACKCAPS . Big congrats to Tim and Baz. Amazing by both of them. #CricketWorldCup — Ross Taylor (@RossLTaylor) February 20, 2015 Tim's 6-33 were the best one-day stats put up by any New Zealand bowler ever. His fast and full deliveries along with some movement in the air led to the absolute fallout of the England players. ð¦ð¨ @BLACKCAPS Tim Southee: 20th Feb 2015 vs England: 7/33 20th Feb 2019 vs Bangladesh: 6/65#NZvBAN pic.twitter.com/I1JVWK7p03 — Cricket24.com (@Cricket24_COM) February 20, 2019 "A packed house was pretty special to come out in front of. We've been bowling well as a group for a long time and today was one of those moments when it all went well for us. Our coach, Shane Bond, does a lot of work behind the scenes and puts confidence into us,” said the modest bowler. After winning all three of the ODIs against Bangladesh, the Kiwis are looking forward to the Test series beginning 28th February.

  23. Have you ever been confused when your girlfriend or one of your female friends declares that chivalry is dead and yet when you do something chivalrous, they seem to be put off by it? You can't seem to figure out where you went wrong. Allow me to let you on to a not-so-secret fact then. Women want men to be chivalrous. Period. via GIPHY They just do not want a pooch (read phony gentleman), running about to please them. Nor do they specifically expect it in today's era. Being chivalrous is not a bad thing in today's love-forsaken world, as there are hardly any real chivalrous men. Stress on the word “real”. via GIPHY The important question is: Are you doing this to impress women or is it a fad that you are trying out? Then, unfortunately, that means your behaviour has passed over into being overly chivalrous, i.e., you are making a great deal out of it and it is apparent. You have officially become the “doormat” guy. Women are intelligent creatures, they can easily tell whether you are being sincere or not. A Chivalrous Lesson © Pinterest Chivalry seems to be the stuff of romantic novels and historical anecdotes. The word paints a picture of a beautiful damsel in distress, awaiting a chivalrous knight to come in and save her from the tower she has been locked in. via GIPHY Well, today's woman is no damsel in distress, nor does she wait around for a knight to save her from harm. They are quite capable of taking care of themselves. What women today are irritated of are men going overboard with the concept of chivalry, grandiose gestures with little to almost no heart in them. © Pinterest Started off as a code of conduct for Knights in the Medieval times it became a concept for the royal court affairs and a terrible amount of important manners. Chivalry was a quaint way in which a man could express his feelings to the woman he cared for through small things. A sign of substance and genuineness in a man. via GIPHY There's a lot of romanticism attributed to the word, a sense of old-world charm and dreamy notions. Victorian era novels are filled with gallant gentlemen and their courtly ways of whom the ladies seem to be a fan. Literature is filled with these men; Mr Darcy, Mr. Bingley, Mr Rochester and the list goes on. © Pinterest A perfect example of a chivalrous man in fiction would be Gregory Peck as Joe Bradley in 'Roman Holiday'. The perfect combination of chivalry and frankness. In the movie, when he has a choice to make, he puts love first instead of fame. If that is not chivalry, I do not know what is. © Pinterest In today's world, chivalry is a debatable idea. Is it essential? How do you know when it is too much? Dear fellow brothers, it isn't the 1800s or the 1950s, women can open doors for themselves, bring their own coats, have their own handkerchiefs and do not need particular help. They are independent, just like men are. © Pinterest It is the thought behind the gesture that matters. Your chivalry should come from within. It should be instantaneous; it has more to do with your personality and manners and your intention to be honourable. Chivalry is the mark of an honest man, a person who doesn't fake it. It is a much greater concept than just concerning the courting of women; it is a lifestyle. How To Know The Difference? It's easy. Scenario 1: You see a woman struggling with a big bag of groceries. You insist on helping her. She says yes. You take the bags and help her home. “Oh, what a gallant young man! Thank you for your chivalry!” © Pinterest Scenario 2: She says no. You insist. She says she is fine with it. You are still insistent, and you try to take the bags and nearly force them out of her hand, just to show that you are a good guy, this is where you have gone overboard. When the lady says that she is fine, she is fine. Leave it there. If she wants your help, she will ask for it. Life isn't a rom-com where the writers make you believe that when women say no, they mean yes or when a man likes a woman, he turns up at her doorstep complete with some over the top, grand gesture. It isn't a novel filled with ideas of an ideal lady and a gentleman, or a series where you are the hot-headed hunk with dripping masculinity and an ineffable charm, trying to win the affections of the heroine. via GIPHY Peacocking (“an extravagant show-off” for the uninitiated) is not an “in” thing, it makes you look needy and pretentious. You can go from charming to creepy in a second. via GIPHY If not that, it puts you in the dorky, nice guy category. Hanging onto their purses while they go and dance with someone else or constantly complimenting her. Seriously, women won't be interested in an over-zealous pushover because that is what it looks like. © Columbia Pictures/Mirage Enterprises Just like you find your girlfriend's nagging to be annoying; women find extreme chivalry to be the same. You might have observed that when you do something, which the lady in question can do herself, that is where they get exasperated. Of course, it is often misconstrued and misinterpreted, but this is where you need to put in work. Women might take your extreme enthusiasm to help them as a trait of cockiness. Remember that unaffected and honest help is never unnoticed. If the lady doesn't understand your genuine act of love, then maybe she isn't meant for you. Womanly Or Chivalry: Is It Necessary? The connotations of chivalry have changed over the years, what used to be a gesture of love and affection has been crassly changed into an idea in which it is expected of a man to help and save the weaker ***. The change seems to have come into effect after the World War, where the whole idea of chivalry being a sexist thing comes from. A question may arise in your mind. Why should women be treated differently? Why do they expect chivalry? Doesn't it erode the concept of feminism? © Twitter That is the precise basis of the debate. We have come a long way from the time when gender roles were strictly put down. But somehow, we are still stuck in the web of the generations gone by. Women were expected to be “womanly” as the men were to be “chivalrous”. Women were to be docile creatures and keep home. They were to patiently wait for a hero. That is what was “womanly”. Similarly, men were to fight the monster and save the lady. Today, women and men do the same things and are working towards making a world a place where they share everything equally. Equality is the foundation of feminism. If only people understood that. What's off-putting to women I assume is the tarnishing and convoluting of the term and the perspective it presents. No one wants to be perceived to be weak. It is the concept which is faulty, not you. How To Be Chivalrous? If you want to be chivalrous, be. Don't try to highlight it. We men need to understand that it isn't limited to opening doors, picking up the tab or helping your lover over puddles. via GIPHY A chivalrous man in today's world would be a man who doesn't have a problem with a female working with him or him working for her. A man who appreciates a woman's opinion. In a relationship, a man who is there when the woman needs him is a much chivalrous man than one who uses chivalry just to woo her and then forget it once the courtship is complete. © Columbia Pictures/Mirage Enterprises Don't just give her a handkerchief when she cries, wipe her tears too. Be a companion to her sorrow. A person whose charm, warmth and helping nature are not limited to any particular gender is chivalrous in the truest sense. © Twitter If you want to hold doors for her, open car doors, give her your coat when you think she is cold, hold her bags for her, go for it. Do it if because you want to, not because someone expects you to. Moreover, definitely not to be in someone's good books. It is bound to fall flat if you are not genuinely interested in it. Also, do it out of the goodness of your heart. Dear women, chivalry isn't dead. It is very much alive. Let your man have the benefit of the doubt. Give the guy a chance to be gallant and enjoy the experience!

For a state that has for long been considered as one of the most sought after tourist destinations in India, Kerala witnessed a catastrophic turn of events lately and endured massive losses in terms of life and property owing to devastating floods - the worst in nearly a century. © BCCL But, despite being brought to a standstill, the 'God's own country' has not let it affect itself and showcasing a great spirit, the southern state is slowly and gradually coming back on its feet. The picturesque state is now ready to welcome visitors again with the same warmth that, over the years, made their hospitality legendary. The state's capital Thiruvananthapuram is now ready to host Team India and West Indies for the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) on 1st November. And, even before the final ODI of the five-match series, the cricket enthusiasts in Kerala have found another reason to cheer for. © Twitter/@kadakampalli In a heartfelt note, Indian captain Virat Kohli penned down his admiration for the state and its people ahead of the 5th ODI. "Being in Kerala is nothing short of bliss. I love coming here and love the energy of the whole place. The beauty of Kerala is something to we experienced and I would recommend to everyone that they come here and experience the energy of God's own country. Kerala is surely back on its feet and absolutely safe to come to. Thanks to this amazing place for making me feel happy every time I am here," Kohli's handwritten note read. Wishes!#KeralaTourism #IndiaVsWestIndies pic.twitter.com/MBgpxZXK0u — Kadakampally (@kadakampalli) October 31, 2018 While Kohli's words of encouragement boosted the morale of the people, it further evoked a response from Kerala's Minister for Co-operation, Tourism & Devaswoms Kadakampally Surendran. "Thank you Virat, @imVkohli for the nice words you have shared. We are delighted to know that #Kerala makes you happy every time you are here. Enjoy your stay here & have a great game tomorrow. Wishes!," he responded. The Indian cricket team arrived in Kerala to a rousing welcome. With an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series, Kohli and his team will now be eager to wrap things up on a winning note when they take on West Indies in the final ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on 1st November.
