Marvel Studios' upcoming Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness movie is just one of the most talked-about movies right now. Over the years, Bollywood has succeeded in making many feel-good movies that have entertained fans throughout their childhoods and adolescence. Now, while we have a really long list of movies that you can watch over and over again, there aren't many films on the same level as the 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna. © Netflix Starring two of the biggest superstars of Bollywood, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, the movie turned out to be a laughter fest. And this was when the movie failed to do the magic at the box office during its initial phase of release in cinemas. The cult comedy also starred Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, and fans still do reruns of the movie. © Netflix Now, it was earlier reported that the movie's sequel Andaz Apna Apna 2 was also in the works, with director Rajkumar Santoshi helming the project as well. © BCCL Well, looks like he's given an important update on the film. According to reports, Santoshi went to Aamir Khan's house on his birthday just recently in order to meet him personally. While we don't know if the movie was one of the reasons behind their meeting, Santoshi sure has something to say about it. As per a Pinkvilla report, the Bollywood director revealed that he's currently writing the script of the film. “I am writing the script, but I should be satisfied with the final story too. So when the script is ready, we will think about the star cast and everything. Meanwhile, I have other films in the pipeline too.” said Santoshi. Now, we know what you're wondering. What about Salman and Aamir then? And what about Karisma, Paresh Rawal, and Raveena, who was recently seen in Netflix's Aranyak? With Warner Bros. and DC really kicking off things with the blockbuster release of Robert Pattinson's new The Batman film, it was clearly now Marvel Studios' turn to throw their cards out on the table. And well, they seemed to have done just that with the new trailer of the upcoming superhero show, Ms Marvel. The trailer for the latest Marvel series was clearly a very exciting one and here are a few things that we noticed in it. 1. First Teenage Muslim-American Superhero © Marvel Studios The trailer puts everything in perspective when it comes to the current generation. Ms Marvel introduces Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a resident of Jersey City who's a massive Avengers fan, with the trailer then going on to show snippets of her journey of becoming the first Muslim-American teenage superhero, at least in the cinematic universe. As soon as the trailer kicks off, we can see Kamala trying to balance her school life, crushes, and her obsession with superheroes, for which her school friends find her weird. 2. No Sign Of Farhan Akhtar Or Fawad Khan Yet © Twitter One of the reasons why the show is talked about a lot in India is basically because it's said to be the debut of Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar and Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan. However, so far in the trailer, we looked closely, and while there were many characters who were basically Asian, Farhan and Fawad missed out. Hopefully, Marvel has a surprise for us in the next trailer, as it usually does. 3. Kamala Follows In The Footsteps Of Captain Marvel © Marvel Studios In the trailer, we can see Kamala adoring Avengers member Captain Marvel, and how even when she's talking to her school counsellor at the start, she can be seen imagining donning her costume to save the city. However, things obviously become a whole lot more interesting when she almost manifests the role as she gains cosmic powers of her own. Now, we already have had a teenage superhero, Tom Holland's Spider-Man, who really became the face of Marvel in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It looks like Ms Marvel series could head in the same direction. 4. A Potential Connection To The New Moon Knight Series © Marvel Studios Just at the start of the trailer, we get to see a detailed show of one of Kamala's doodles in her notebook, in which she's scribbled a lot of things. Well, if you look at it closely, just beside her notebook, there's a shot of a textbook named Ancient Egypt. Now, if you know about Marvel's new Moon Night series, you'd know that it will revolve around Oscar Isaac's character who is a warrior priest of Khonsu, an Egyptian God. As seen before, Marvel really integrates shows and movies well on the screen, and we may just be getting our newest team by the looks of things right now. All in all, the trailer is something that will connect to a lot of Gen-Zs and it will surely add a different dynamic to the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward. However, in the second film, we will see Kartik Aaryan replace Akki and he will have the supporting cast of Kiara Advani, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav. The movie would surely be something exciting for the fans. 2. No Entry 2 © SK Film Entertainment Salman Khan just announced that he will indeed be starring in the sequel to the 2005 comedy movie starring Anil Kapoor, Salman, and Fardeen Khan. The movie will be directed by Aneez Bazmi who would look to bring new elements to film to adapt to changes in the generation of the audiences. 3. Extreme sports games have been largely ignored this last generation but that won’t stop Ubisoft from coming out with a game that might invigorate excitement. While we have seen remasters of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise, it was still a remaster and not a new game in the series. However, since I was a kid, I always wanted a game that would emulate the X-Games in video game format and we may finally have one in the firm of Riders Republic. © Ubisoft I playtested the beta before it went live for everyone and played the game again during the public beta to figure out how I feel about the game. At first, I wasn’t really into it simply because I did not know what to expect. But the more I played the game, the more it felt like an X-Games simulator I’ve always wanted. Riders Republic is Ubisoft’s spiritual successor to Steep but it goes far beyond that. What I LikedInstead of being focused on one sport, Riders Republic explores almost every sport you may have seen in X-Games. From mountain biking to skiing to snowboarding, the game offers almost every extreme sport we know. The game is set in an open world environment that has been weaved together using America’s four national parks. Yosemite, Zion, Grand Teton and Bryce Canyon are all represented as different regions where you get to take part in different sports activities. In the playtest, I was limited to checking out mountain biking, ski/snowboard and rocket wing which was fun to test out. © Ubisoft The game can be played in either first-person or third-person camera angles. If you want immersion, I would recommend the first-person mode and when you feel like competing, the third-person mode is better suited. While mountain-biking, I genuinely felt the same stomach-drop feeling you get when riding a roller coaster in first-person mode. The feeling would mostly come when riding down steep slopes during races. The same can be said about skiing and snowboarding. I felt it the most while I went down a slope at full speed. © Ubisoft The game can be played as a solo experience, however it is highly recommended you play with friends. You will experience the most amount of fun during Mass Races where every hour you have to take part in a multi-leg race. You will find yourself changing sports with each leg of the race where you won’t even notice the transitions. It also encourages players to master each different sport to get a competitive advantage in races. But the game is not only about races though. Much like the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, you are also required to perform tricks so that you can stack points during races. Some races are solely meant for doing tricks and getting the highest score possible. Having said that, I found the controls to be a bit harder to remember during trick courses as I had not spent enough time with the game. What I Didn’t LikeSince Riders Republic is based in a large open-world, it blatantly copies concepts from the Forza Horizon series. There’s a festival going on just like the Forza series where you need to dominate every race to become the ultimate rider. While the concept makes sense for the game, it lacked originality. I would rather have Riders Republic copy the X-Games format instead of a generic sports festival that has already been done countless times. The concept lacked imagination and I was already bored of it since I’ve already experienced it in the Forza games before. © Ubisoft The game also borrows the time-rewind mechanic from the Forza games as well. The only difference here is that when using the feature you do lose time progress and your position in the race as well. Having said that, the rewind feature needs to give more control to the player as there were times I found myself stuck to a tree and unable to get back on track. Sometimes, it would take far more time than you intended and in turn, cost you valuable time. Lastly, I wasn’t a big fan of the character models the game uses for NPCs and even your character. They felt very bland and worse than other Ubisoft games. Each NPC looked bland to me and somehow I couldn’t help but compare it with other games like Watch Dogs. Each NPC lacked detail and even the voice acting was not at par with other AAA games. It’s the only thing that broke the immersion for me in a game that looks stunning otherwise. I also didn’t like the fact that the game did not feature any form of skateboarding or rollerblading. Sure, it may not be an extreme sport that you would normally see in national parks. But, since this is a make-believe game anyway, I don’t see any reason why a skate park couldn’t have been featured in this vast world. While I do have problems with the game, apart from the rewind feature none of them is a dealbreaker. I’m still excited to play this game and explore different races whenever I’m bored or have nothing to play. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is set to launch in India on August 24 and I got to spend 24 hours with the device. I can say that it is one of the most exciting smartphones I’ve used all year. After using the device for a day, I can say that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will probably be the ultimate flagship smartphone to own in 2021. Here’s what I feel about the Galaxy Z Fold 3: Design and Display The Galaxy Z Fold 3 may look very similar to its predecessor but for some reason, it feels like a better iteration. The first thing you will notice is the premium feel of the device’s chassis. To be honest, I don’t think “premium” is the right word to describe the feel of the phone as it feels more like a luxury product. In fact, I was scared to use the phone initially, assuming that if I broke something, I may have to sell my car to get it repaired. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla However, as I got more comfortable with holding the phone, I remembered that it’s made of Gorilla Glass Victus. It might be hard to believe, the phone feels more durable than the last one. The hinge and the back of the phone are made of metal where the back of the phone has a matte finish. I prefer the matte finish as the phone is far less slippery when held. With a phone that costs almost Rs 1.5 lakh, I felt reassured that the phone will not slip out of my hand that easily. It is worth pointing out that the phone does feel heavy and hefty, somewhat similar to the Nokia communicator. It is still lighter than any of its predecessors, however if you’re coming from a regular smartphone, you will feel the difference in weight right away. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Now let’s come to the exciting part. The Z Fold 3 5G features a large 6.2-inch cover display and a larger 7.6-inch inner folding display, both being AMOLED units. However, this time around, the inner display does not have a punch-hole camera cutout which is instead embedded within the display. This helps in providing better immersion when watching movies or playing games. Both displays also have a refresh rate of 120Hz which means you get the smooth OneUI experience out of the box. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla In my initial use, the inner display has been a pure joy to use, especially for watching content on Netflix. In most cases, you don’t really notice the crease in the middle unless you are looking at something with a white background or from an acute viewing angle. You can feel the crease when using the display for typing or navigation, but it really isn’t too bothersome as you get used to it after a few hours. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also has support for the S Pen, however for now I haven’t been able to test it as the review unit didn’t come with one. In fact, Samsung has not even revealed any details about the S Pen for India for the time being which could change by the time the smartphone launches. Why It’s Exciting © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla This is the third generation of foldable phones by Samsung and it seems like the company is confident about foldable displays. When using it, I couldn’t help but notice that folding and unfolding the display is very addictive, which you tend to do often for browsing the web or watching video content. It also made me nostalgic for my old Nokia Communicator from back in the day. The ability to convert my smartphone to a small tablet is no small feat. I can use the phone’s outer display for daily communication and browsing the web. But if I want to watch a movie, I can take full advantage of the 7.6-inch inner display. This ability to whip out a larger display whenever you want makes the Galaxy Z Fold 3 one of the most versatile phones right now. What About Everything Else?The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset that has been paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. On paper, the smartphone should be at par with flagship phones with similar configurations. However, since it has only been 24 hours, I haven’t been able to test games like Genshin Impact and Battlegrounds Mobile India as of now. It’s also not enough time to give an educated report on the battery life right now which I will elaborate more about in my full review. However, so far, my experience with the Z Fold 3 has been quite impressive where I haven’t noticed any software bugs or crashes.
