  1. Apple's 'Show Time' event last night was packed with a lot of surprises. The company launched a Netflix-killer, Oprah Winfrey was there, and Tim Cook burst into tears. But you know what else was exciting? Apple has now become a bank, and it has launched its own credit card too. That's right. Apple has introduced a new service called 'Apple Card', which is essentially a credit card that will live both virtually in Apple's Wallet app and in the physical world as this slick-looking card made out of titanium. Here, check it out - © Apple Apple says it wanted to eliminate the things that people don't like about credit cards. So with Apple Card, there's no late fees, no annual fees and no international fees. It's like the perfect credit card that's made to kill the actual credit cards. Additionally, Apple says it will also offer cashback rewards on a daily basis to Apple Card users. I mean, who would have thought that Apple, out of all the companies, will offer cashback rewards? Like, seriously. The customers using the Apple Card will be able to get 3-per cent cashback for purchases made directly with Apple. You'll also get 2-per cent via the virtual card and 1-per cent when usingthe physical card. The transactions are also a lot safer as it uses Apple's FaceID or TouchID for authorizing the payments. The laser-etched titanium credit has no credit card number, CVV, expiration date or signature. All the information is stored directly in the Apple Wallet app. The company is partnering with Goldman Sachs for the card, and Mastercard will handle the payment processing. Apple's credit card will only be available if you're an iPhone owner. iPhone users can sign up for a card in the Wallet app, and the qualified users will be approved for an Apple Card. Sadly, the Apple Card is currently limited to the US, but the company is expected to bring it to other countries where Apple Pay is available. Sadly, India isn't a part of those countries right now, but let's hope that changes soon.
  2. A new month means fresh money in the account, a renewed gym membership hopefully, new dates on the calendar and new additions to all our streaming subscriptions. Continuing the monthly routine, here is our list of 5 new recommendations to add to your weekend 'Netflix & chill' session: 1. The Umbrella Academy- This American superhero series is actually based on a comic of the same name, so if you're a fan of the text, the video version won't disappoint you either. It's been on Netflix for 2 weeks, but still, we're putting it out on our March list since many haven't watched it. 2. Delhi Crime- This series will follow the night of 16th December 2012, the horrific night of the Delhi gang-rape case. The series stars Shefali Shah and Adil Hussain in major roles and will show the entire police investigation that followed it. You can start streaming on 22nd March. 3. Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians- This series should be on every Cricket lover's list. It follows the journey of IPL champions Mumbai Indians and will give out all the inside action that keeps them going as a team. 4. Roma- This Mexican drama film has already won many accolades and awards across the globe. This moving tells the story of a domestic worker who tries to make it through life during the turmoil of the 1970s in Mexico. 5. Get Out- This was one of the best horror movies released back in 2017. Jordan Peele did a wonderful job in entwining a social thriller with great horror. It's coming to Netflix on 24th March, in case you still haven't watched it.
  3. Apple's AirPod wireless headphones have been one of the firm's most successful products - and a much anticipated new version is in the works and expected to be launched in the first half of 2019. Patent filings suggest the company is pretty much ready with the design and mass production is just around the corner. Reports by DigiTimes and 9To5Mac indicate the new AirPods 2 are just on the way. Up till now, we've barely heard about the second generation earbuds and many expected Apple to launch them last year. According to 9To5Mac, a "Hey Siri" configuration tool found in Apple's latest iOS 12.2 beta suggests the new AirPods are coming soon. © 9To5Mac If Siri setup has AirPods inclusion, it means the second generation AirPods could bring in "Hey Siri" functionality. In this case, the audio processing shall be done by the AirPods itself, and not the connected iPhone. The new AirPods are expected to have a heart rate sensor, enabling tracking of fitness activities. Since the launch of the Apple Watch, the company has increased its focus on health tracking and slowly started integrating everything in the Health SDK. © Apple "If you zoom out into the future and you look back and you ask the question: 'What was Apple's greatest contribution to mankind?' It will be about health," Tim Cook said in a recent interview to CNBC. According to a fairly old report from Bloomberg, the new pair of earbuds are also going to be waterproof and house better Bluetooth connectivity than their predecessors, thanks to the inclusion of the W2 chip. The same chipset has also been used onboard the Apple Watch Series 3. © Apple Lastly, the AirPods 2 are expected to have wireless charging capabilities. Since the launch of the iPhone 8, Apple has committed itself to going completely wireless. Though, the company still hasn't been able to launch the AirPower mat that can charge multiple devices at once. Rumours suggest the brand could finally launch the AirPower mat along with the AirPods 2. Keep in mind, much of this is speculation and based on informal reports. There has been no official confirmation from Apple about the AirPods 2 development.
  4. There is something about wearing formals that makes you stand out in the crowd. The suit places you in a superior position in the power dynamics in meetings. The blazer makes you look smart, spiffy and suave all at once. There is no denying that the suit is also extremely sexy when worn to a date. However, a suit can't be worn as often as we may like it. Not all settings present themselves as deserving for a formal suit. In these scenarios wearing a suit comes across as over-dressed and odd. However, that doesn't mean you ditch the magnificent blazer completely. There are ways you can wear the blazer without making it look too formal. 1. Ditch pants for a pair of jeans whose shade matches your blazer. This creates the illusion of a two piece without being one. If it's a chilled out lunch meeting client, you could even pair it with cool sneakers. © Instagram 2. Try pairing chinos with blazers. While chinos are usually associated with a more casual setting, add a blazer and voila! It's work ready. © Instagram 3. In winters, pair your blazer with a hoodie underneath. It gives uber cool vibe and looks great. Exhibit A. © Instagram 4. Another quirky option is adding graphic tees in the outfit. Add a funky graphic tee underneath your hoodie like this: © Instagram 5. A kurta under a blazer looks like a pair that won't work but look at Vir Das and Ayushmann work it, and we bet you'll want to try it too. You could experiment with both short kurtas and long ones. With long ones, make sure the shade matches that of the blazer. © Instagram © Instagram 6. A turtleneck under a blazer is a classic. It makes men look adorable. Rajkummar Rao is one person who can really pull it off. © Instagram So you now know that you don't have to be Mr. Overdressed for your love for the blazer. In fact, you'll be inspiring people with your #OOTDs.
  5. The harsh Winter months have hit us. We're talking long coats, puffy jackets, long scarves. Layering is also exciting if you create a great mix of fabrics and textures that complement each other well in the Winter. But apart from layering, there are cool Winter trends that you can follow, that will keep you super-tight and warm and at the same time keep you at the top of your fashion game. Here are four trends that we've scoured for you that we think will be big in the month of January: 1. Turtlenecks A turtleneck is a perfect arsenal for the harsh Winter months. You might regard this piece as granddad pullover but that's not true at all. The pull-over looks enticing on young men if they know how to style it right. They come as comfy knits or in chunky designs. The knits are easy to style with blazers and long coats. The whole look adds definition and structure to your outfit. The chunky ones look better on their own. Take a look. © Twitter 2. Graphic Hoodies A hoodie is both comfortable and street style-friendly. Unlike a long coat or a blazer, it's low maintenance. You don't need to put much thought when you style the hoodie. Graphic hoodies take your hoodie-game a notch higher with uber-cool styles and exotic textures. © Zara Price: 2,890 Buy it here 3. Logo Sweaters There are always subtle ways to dip your toes in the trend. The logo mania started out as a very out there flashy trend in the 90s. With 90s trends hitting the runway like a storm, the logo mania is back bigger than ever. Try pairing a logo pullover with chinos for a casual look. © Abercrombie and Fitch Price: 4,853 Buy it here 4. Quirky Socks Ditch the blacks and browns in your closet for quirky socks. We're talking funky prints of avocados, sunny side ups, astronauts, stars, you name it. How do you make these socks go with the rest of the outfit you ask? Take a cue from Harshvardhan Kapoor. Surprisingly, they work really well with semi-formals. Track pants and cargo pants are other options for a more chilled-out look. © HM Price: 249 Buy it here
  6. 2019 has begun and nerds are even more excited to see what the future holds. We've already compiled a list of top smartphone moments of 2018 and now, we'll talk about the trends that shall take-off soon in the coming year. Technology has been advancing at a rapid pace, and there's no stopping it. Not only are features getting more complicated and intense, but also cheaper. A flagship feature trickles down to the midrange as well as the budget segment in no time. And with the plethora of options available, brands are working harder every day to differentiate themselves. These are the top features we expect to see in 2019 smartphones: 1. Foldable Phones: © YouTube This is by far the most interesting concept, it's something we've been waiting for years. Samsung has periodically teased that they're working on the technology and shall be ready for scaled consumer manufacturing soon. In November of 2018, they finally showed off a concept phone for just a few seconds. Flexible OLED technology will allow the actual screen itself to bend and fold without the use of hinges or the extra bulk associated with implementing two separate screens, meaning a foldable thinner smartphone. Samsung did not detail whether the smartphone will go on sale anytime soon or how much it will cost, but it's expected to come out soon, and cost a bomb. Even though it'll take some more time to make it cheaper, multiple companies like Huawei and LG are researching too. 2. Punch-Hole Camera: © Samsung Samsung Galaxy A8s, the Nova 4 as well as the Honor View 20 are among the few to already sport a punch-hole camera. Samsung completely skipped the notch and went ahead with this design addition. On the A8s, a little camera hole in the display houses a 24-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. That is a major step up from some of the smaller notches we've seen in other devices that have opted to go for teardrop display cutout rather than this hole-punch method. The implementation is still at a very nascent stage though. A black ring around the camera is the result of the camera protruding through every layer of the display except for the very surface level. Thanks to multiple layers, light has a greater chance of leaking through and affects image quality as well as display durability. While punch-hole displays are expected to be limited to the higher-midrange or flagships, the notch isn't going anywhere soon. The water-drop notch has been a hit and more and more companies are expected to house it. 3. Time Of Flight Camera: © Vivo Time of Flight (ToF) is an optical radar system and is able to identify faces even from comparatively long distances. It's said to function perfectly even in different lighting conditions. The recently launched OPPO R17 Pro is the first phone to feature this sensor. ToF 3D Sensing Technology offers an advanced experience by enabling 3D mapping at up to three metres from the phone while having a smaller baseline than traditional technology that is called "structured light". It has exponentially more sensors points than iPhone's current 3D array setup and has even more applications. Apart from authentication, it can also be used to identify hand gestures and upgrade the existing AR sticker experience. 4. In-Display Fingerprint Scanner: © BCCL This is no longer a "new" feature, but we expect it to get better and cheaper in the coming months. After the launch of the iPhone 5S, every brand was trying to incorporate a fingerprint scanner on their phone. In a couple of years, an external scanner has become a bare minimum necessity. In the same way, an in-display fingerprint scanner is slightly slower than the external one, but companies are constantly improving the mechanism. Synaptics has already released multiple improved variants in one year itself, hence you'll notice a lot of difference between the Vivo X21 and OnePlus 6T's unlocking speed. 5. Faster Charging And Bigger Batteries: © OPPO There are several such technologies available, including Qualcomm Quick Charge, OnePlus Dash Charge, among others. Brands are now involved in a race, who has the fastest solution? The Huawei Mate 20 Pro houses a 4200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge and also supports 15W wireless charging support. According to PhoneArena, you can charge 1.5 per cent of the battery in just a minute while 22W charging on the P20 Pro restores 1.1 per cent every minute. In comparison, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 takes 30 minutes or less to charge 50 per cent and OnePlus' Dash Charging can get to 60 per cent charge in just 30 minutes. Battery sizes too have shot up and it's not just for the flagships. Even a budget phone like the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a 4000mAh battery. Companies are also working on improving the life cycle of batteries, and this is something Apple really needs to start considering.
  7. The next iPhone is expected to have advanced mobile photography that has been tipped to generate excitement amongst users. The 2019 iPhones are expected to follow the same design as the current generation but have some neat camera features. © MensXP According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is working with Sony to include a long distance 3D camera. This new lens is expected to change smartphone photography game and will also result in better security and gaming. Bloomberg spoke to Sony directly to get this information so the source couldn't have been better. “Cameras revolutionized phones, and based on what I've seen, I have the same expectation for 3D [cameras],” said Satoshi Yoshihara, head of Sony's sensor division, when speaking with Bloomberg. © YouTube Bloomberg revealed Apple's plans for this new camera sensor and Sony subsequently confirmed the commercial availability of the lens. According to Yoshihara and Sony, both the front and rear-facing 3D cameras will be ready in 2019 and “kick off mass production in late summer to meet demand”. The 3D cameras will basically use “Time of Flight” technology that will send out invisible laser pulses and measure the time before it bounces back to build 3d models of objects up to five meters away. 8. 2018 is on the verge of ending and if we look back, we can find some good and some bad memories collected in some corner of our mind. From breakups to getting a new job, from being single to getting hitched, from being sad to having the greatest day of our lives, there was something for everyone. via GIPHY Good or bad, the end of this year and the starting of the next should be celebrated no matter what. And when it comes to the New Year welcoming celebrations, the first place that pops in our mind is Goa. There's something about this place that makes people go wild! Sadly though, Goa has become a cliché. via GIPHY You can find every Tom-Dick-Harry making plans to go crazy and celebrate New Year's Eve in Goa. Consequently, the place has become too crowded. You won't be able to find a decent place to party where the crowd is limited and decent. To put it bluntly, Goa feels like Kumbh Mela on New Year's Eve. via GIPHY To solve your problem, here are five places which would kind of give you the feel of Goa but would be relatively less crowded: 1. Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram Situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Varkala has one of the most beautiful beaches of India. It is clean, the water is blue, and not many tourists know about it, so it is less crowded. © GoIbibo This is the place for you if you want to get out of the hustle bustle of the city and just unwind. Plus, there are cliffs adjacent to beaches and a climb to the top would give you a mesmerising view! 2. Gokarna, Karnataka You can call this the mini Goa. Gokarna is around 190 km from Goa (to the South) and easily accessible by train or by road. If you need a quiet beach where you can enjoy with your friends, then this is the place for you. © Reddit It's a perfect destination for a solo-trip as well. It has quite a few beaches, so you would have options to set a bonfire and welcome the New Year. 3. Pondicherry As the French said, it's the paradise of India and it's probably what made the French East India Company set its headquarters here in 1674. Pondicherry is rife with beautiful French architecture and beaches that you would just love. © GoIbibo The food is amazing, beer is cheap, and the view is mesmerising. Pondicherry offers both, nature and feel of the city. It's the perfect place for people who are suffering from 'wanderlust.' 4. Tarkarli, Maharashtra This is the place for you if you want to party on 31st night and do water sports on 1st morning. Tarkarli has everything that Goa has, minus the crowd. You can drink chilled beer at shacks, watch the sunset on clean beaches, and can go for scuba diving or parasailing. © Wikipedia The place is a perfect weekend getaway when you're in the mood for some adventure. Just make sure you have some company, as it doesn't offer much to solo travellers. 5. Diu If you already don't know, then let me tell you. You can either plan for Daman or for Diu in a single trip. Because they're around 650 km apart. Of the two, Diu is a much better option. © Pinterest The beaches of Diu are comparatively cleaner and the city has more sightseeing to offer. There are the Nadia caves, churches, forts, and temples. And of course, beaches and cheap beer. You can spend your 31st December by exploring the city during the day and enjoying at the beach during the night. The place worth a visit at least once. So, which place will you be heading to?

  12. Xiaomi is comparatively new in the Indian market and in the bigger picture a very young company, but this hasn't stopped it from grabbing a huge chunk of the market. In a span of two years, the company has managed to take over the number one spot in India, surpassing behemoths like Samsung. This year itself the company has established itself as an unchallenged leader with the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the demand is still so high that the company has to sell it via flash sales even after 6 months of launch. Now, Xiaomi has announced the Mi A2, the successor of the equally popular Mi A1. © MensXP While the Redmi Note 5 Pro and other devices in their portfolio are powered by MIUI, the A series is a part of the Android One program. Meaning, software is pure Android and almost directly shipped from Google. There are many out there who prefer a clean and simple UI, so pure Android is built for these users. Coming to the specifications, it has a 6-inch IPS LCD Full-HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with Adreno 512 GPU. In India, one variant is available with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Unfortunately, the storage is not expandable. © BCCL On the rear, it sports a 12 + 20-megapixel dual-camera setup that is capable of recording 4K videos at 30FPS. Both the rear cameras have an impressive aperture of f/1.75. The front has a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 snapper with beautify and portrait mode features. The phone is backed by a 3010mAh non-removable battery and also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back, the phone also supports Face Unlock for authentication. Xiaomi has ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack here, though they are shipping a Type-C to 3.5mm jack adapter for free. © MensXP The Mi A2 runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo and is assured to receive regular software as well as security updates thanks to the Android One program. The phone is priced at Rs 16,999 and is exclusively available on Amazon.in and Mi.com from August 16. The pre-order starts from August 9 though.
