The Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian cricket team are both in the middle of a rather dodgy controversy in which nobody knows whom to trust. For starters, Virat Kohli’s recent press conference before leaving for South Africa suggested that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly lied in the face of media when he said that he wanted Kohli to remain the T20I captain. I personally requested him (Kohli) not to give up the T20I captaincy :Sourav Ganguly "I was never told that I should not leave T20I cricket captaincy" - Virat Kohli (press conference) #shameonganguly #KickOutShahGanguly #BCCI #viratkholi pic.twitter.com/Fvt393KiwI — Sk Kaizar (@KaizarSk) December 15, 2021 Furthermore, the fact that there are various leaks within the Indian cricket board who have been sending out highly confidential information like the date and time for Kohli’s resignation as a captain, also suggests that internal discrepancies are at an all-time high within the organisation. Also, there have been numerous lies coming from within the BCCI, for instance, Ganguly declining all rumours of Rahul Dravid being appointed as the new head coach and Kohli being permanently removed as white-ball captain, only to make it official through their social media channels a couple of days later. #EJSports | #ViratKohli's fiery press conference in Mumbai. Says he wasn't contacted in time before ODI captaincy snub & speaks at length about his 'alleged fight' with #RohitSharma @imVkohli @ImRo45 @BCCI pic.twitter.com/ZhsjSf9uSz — editorji (@editorji) December 15, 2021 Having said that, the media has also played a key role in making the whole transition of power from Kohli to Rohit Sharma a dirty mess. For instance, “reports” of Kohli making himself unavailable for the ODI series in South Africa were making headlines and were adding fuel to the fire around a speculated rift between Sharma and him. These rumours were quashed by Kohli himself, who not only condemned them but also called those publications “not credible”. Virat Kohli Was smiling when he was replying "I am available for the selection all this time (ODI Series vs South Africa). Should be asking me these question, you should ask this who are writing these stories and sources, they're not credible." pic.twitter.com/N4afCq3yW9 — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) December 15, 2021 Another “report” suggested that the infamous and mythical rift between Kohli and Sharma had once again come alive in the middle of the chaotic mishandling of the latter’s firing as white-ball captain. This was again refuted by Kohli in the press conference when he emphasised the fact that he was tired of justifying his relationship with Rohit Sharma. Amid the surge of such not-so-accurate reports from all over the country, an old and rare interview with Mahendra Singh Dhoni has once again come to light in which the former Indian skipper dealt with false news about his alleged relationships with humour. "Please don't change my girlfriend every two days. It's tough to keep track as I am linked to a new girl so often. If you are forcibly linking me to someone, then at least the alliance should last a little long," he responded with a smile on his face. People weren’t spending so much time online, getting involved in controversies and even creating some of them out of their own imagination. View the full article

Cricket is a funny game. Last week India registered one of their most memorable wins on English soil at Lord’s, and a week later the same side suffered one of their worst defeats of recent times, losing by an innings and 76 runs. After they conquered Lord’s, experts from all over the world hailed this side as one of the best Indian teams ever but those very experts have now found multiple weaknesses within the team. More than the loss, the manner in which India failed to put up a fight has taken many of us by surprise as nobody expected them to capitulate the way they did and lost the match in just over three days. View this post on Instagram Many would find it hard to digest but the victory at Lords was one of the reasons why Virat Kohli and his team lost so badly in Leeds. Now before you take out your sword and chase us down, just read on. No doubt the Lord’s triumph was a big deal but we must not forget the reason why it was celebrated on such a large scale. Going into the final day, the hosts were in a commanding position and if not for our tail-enders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami’s record ninth-wicket partnership, we probably would have lost the match. © Instagram Jasprit Bumrah Former England skipper Michael Vaughan is famous among Indian supporters for his annoying predictions but for once, we feel, he is right. Vaughan, in his long Facebook post, analysed the performance of both the sides and reasoned why Kohli’s team failed terribly within a week after winning at Lord’s. He argued that the win at the Home of Cricket gave Team India a “false sense of security” and they forgot the troubles their batters had to endure on the first four days, before Bumrah and Shami caused a mayhem and tilted the tide in their favour. © Instagram Jasprit Bumrah “India for whatever reason did not have the determination and right mindset. They have been aggressive and confrontational, but when you do that you have to deliver as well, and they did not,” Vaughan wrote on Facebook. “Surely they have to pick Ravi Ashwin next week. You cannot have four rabbits from 8-11. The resistance at Lord’s lulled them into a false sense of security about their tail. In reality, they cannot have Mohammad Shami coming in at eight,” he added. Micheal Vaughan on Cricbuzz about Ajinkya Rahane's Place in the team He said England wants Rahane how India wants Sibley pic.twitter.com/XwrnRWgNZo — MASTER|Lokesh™ (@IamLokesh26) August 29, 2021 “Rahane is an issue. And I think when see you these things happening, you have to make changes. England made changes, they got rid of Crawley, they got rid of Sibley. I think India need to make changes. England need to see a different face or two at the Oval,” Vaughan said in a Cricbuzz video. “I mean Rahane, is he being backed because of his vice-captaincy? Is he being backed because he played some outstanding innings in the last few years? but consistency-wise, he just doesn’t seem to find it,” said the former England skipper. © Reuters With the fourth Test starting next week on September 2, Team India doesn’t have much time to make things right and they can’t afford another spineless performance because one more loss would give England an unassailable lead in the series.
