  1. In what sadly turned out to be a one-sided affair, the Pakistani cricket team failed to negate Team India's challenge in the much-anticipated clash at Old Trafford at the ongoing ICC World Cup. Overshadowed in almost all facets of the game, Sarfaraz Ahmed's men extended their dismal run against India at the ICC event, following their 89-run loss (D/L) on 16th June. From being wayward in their bowling to paying dearly for their batting collapse, the Pakistani cricket team attracted a lot of criticism from their fans for failing to put up a fight against Virat Kohli's men. While some used Sarfaraz's infamous picture from the game - where he was seen yawning behind the stumps - to highlight their batting woes, others slammed the Pakistani cricketers for their poor fitness. The way he said "criticise the team but within the boundaries of respect" has won my respect. The guy has a true spirit and sportsmanship♥ï¸@mominsaqib pic.twitter.com/1Wc9PTI1Uz — Shumiið (@oye_shumii) June 17, 2019 After the match, a Pakistani journalist even asked Rohit Sharma at the press conference if he has any advice for Pakistani batsmen to get better. While India's vice-captain left everyone in splits with his cheeky response, boxing star Amir Khan has offered a helping hand to the Pakistani cricketers. 2. With the release of 'Logan' in 2017, we probably saw the end of one of the most iconic characters in the last decade and a half. Played by none other than Hugh Jackman, the character Wolverine was brought to life in a way no other man could have. So much so, that it is now very hard to imagine someone else playing the character. © Marvel One thing, in particular, that was very commendable about it was the way Hugh developed his physique over the years. From the first 'X-Men' movie to the last one, you could see a noticeable improvement in his physique as he got more and more ripped as time went by. He recently mentioned in an interview that he has been following Intermittent Fasting (IF) protocol to get in shape. This generated bucket loads of interest in IF and it made IF one of the trending topics on both Twitter and Google. As it is with everything else, people have started talking and wondering if IF is the ultimate secret to getting fit and ripped? Is Intermittent Fasting The Secret We've Been Looking For Since Ages? Before I answer this question, let's first look at what Intermittent Fasting is and how it works? Intermittent Fasting is simply the time between eating and non-eating. It is a dietary-pattern rather than a diet which most people mistake it for and start thinking that IF is what makes them lose fat/get ripped. It is just a conscious decision to fast and then eat. This means you consume your calories within an eating window which in turn makes it harder to overeat for some people. © Getty Images The most popular way of doing IF is setting fasting and an eating window, for example fasting for 16 hours and then eating within the remaining 8 hours of the day. Although there are other protocols that people follow such as the alternate day fasting method where you eat normally for 24 hours and then fast for the next 24 hours. Another method is eating normally for 5 days a week and fast for 2 days. You might have noticed by now, all that these patterns do is that they stop you from eating for a certain period of time. Now, if you think about how you lose weight, the simple answer would be to eat less than what your body needs to maintain its weight. Any rational person here would understand that any dietary pattern that helps you eat less would help you lose weight, it's not magic, just good old science. In the case of Hugh Jackman, you have to remember that he is a genetically lean guy and he finds it hard to put on weight rather than losing it. © Twitter/realhughjackman Any person who finds it hard to put on weight will always get lean putting in a lot less effort than some who is on the heavier side genetically. So much so, he was put on a diet of around 4,500 calories when he was bulking up and around 3000 calories when he was cutting down (yes, a dream for most of us). Will It Work For You? If you are someone who likes to consume larger, less frequent meals, then IF can help you stick to your diet better which can, in turn, help you lose weight faster. But if you are thinking that just following the Intermittent Fasting protocol will help you get ripped, you have a very big misconception. As mentioned above, you'll only lose weight if you eat less food than what your body needs to achieve its weight i.e in a caloric deficit, not eating at certain times and not eating at others. Is It Safe? Studies have shown that almost all the patterns of Intermittent Fasting are harmless and can help people who like to eat that way stick to their diet better, resulting in better weight loss. However, there has been no evidence whatsoever which shows that Intermittent Fasting will help you lose weight faster or improve your health markers when compared to a linear caloric deficit. 3. They say that the circumstances and situations we face in life make us. The good, and especially the bad experiences, mould us into individuals with unique battle scars that we can proudly walk around with. Yet, it takes one of those rattling experiences to turn our lives around and save it from going completely downhill. A moment of clarity is all we need to find the strength to steer our lives around towards a better future, and that is exactly how the journey of celebrity nutritional consultant Jaydeep Bhuta reads. Born into a typical Gujju business family, Jaydeep enjoyed the hearty vegetarian Gujarati meals and snacks he was brought up on. Until one fine day in February 2015, when 28-year-old Jaydeep found himself veering towards the wrong side of the weighing scale. At 145kg, Jaydeep was clueless when he had lost track of his life to such a great extent. The jarring reality of his obesity shook him to the core, just as much as the multiple health concerns that stared at him right in the eyes. Genetics also played a role. My family history shows we tend to show up on the higher side of the scale. I began experiencing difficulty in moving, had trouble breathing and sleeping, was lethargic. That's when I thought if I don't do something now, it'll become a problem beyond repair.” View this post on Instagram You may look at this transformation and say Wow! How did he do it? 4. Earlier this week, the Powerbeats Pro were spotted in an iOS update and has now been made official by Apple. The company's Beats division is now making its mark in the true wireless earphones market and will be available to buy from this May. The Powerbeats Pro is going to be more expensive than the AirPods i.e. $250 (Rs 17,200 Approx) and reportedly offers better sound quality. The Powerbeats Pro is also expected to last longer than before and comes with Apple's new H1 chip that can also be found on the new AirPods. The H1 Chip enables the new AirPods to fire up Siri by simply saying the command “Hey Siri”. The wireless earbuds also offer a more secure and comfortable fit as compared to the AirPods. © Apple Beats This reduces sound leakage which has been the only known issue with AirPods. It works similar to the AirPods with the ability to control volume and tracks with any of the two earbuds. The earbuds also automatically play/pause when they are removed from your ear. © Apple The Powebeats Pro is expected to last for up to nine hours or up to 24 hours of playback time with the charging case. The charging case also has a fast-charging feature that can give the earbuds an additional 1.5 hours of usage after five minutes of charge. As of now, there is no word whether we will get to see the Powerbeats Pro launch in India.
  5. What usually comes to your mind when you hear the word 'Doctor'? An elderly, pleasant looking gentleman with probably a paunch and kind eyes who either comforts you with his kind eyes or creeps the living daylights out of you with his evil grin (but that's the stuff from horror movies). Anyway, when that imagery is challenged by someone who even remotely falls outside of that category, they tend to leave a lasting impression. Especially, if they go right ahead and look like they stepped out of a model catalogue or the cast of Grey's Anatomy, they deserve to be applauded because hey, it takes a lot of effort to establish oneself as a doctor. Clearly, Dr Rodrigo Sapo has what it takes, and more. He looks like a muscled, bearded model who spends his waking hours in the gym instead of a hospital, and that doesn't even begin to describe what he looks like. Here are 10 pictures that shows why patients line up to get check-ups by him, even when they are not ill. 1. 6. It is a universally acknowledged fact that all men come in different body sizes. Seriously, even if standardized clothes fit you well, they will never match up to the level of getting something customized. However, realistically, not everything can be customized which means finding your size in the pool of random sizes. Every brand has their own scale for standardizing a size which varies from year to year. This means that in all likelihood there are chances of you wearing the wrong size. Here are ways you can know for sure that you're wearing a size that you definitely shouldn't be wearing: 1. You Can't Hug Someone In Your Blazer © Twitter If you're wearing a blazer that restricts movement in your arms and makes them heave down, it's definitely the wrong size. Blazer sleeves should never restrict one's movement or look funny around the pits. Next time, while trying on blazers check the motion by moving your hands around and probably even jumping up and down to see how much it can handle. If you cant, you need a bigger size. 2. There's A Gap Between Your Buttons © Twitter If your buttons eventually unbutton during the day, it's an alarming factor that is telling that you need to go a size up with your shirts. The poor buttons can only handle so much. Besides, it is extremely unprofessional to have your buttons open in front of everyone. 3. Your Pants Keep Riding Up © Twitter If the hem of your pants keep riding up and get stuck around your crotch, then there is a problem. Not only is it uncomfortable but also visible to everyone else. This can be the worst when you sit down or stand up in front of people. You need the hem to fall at an appropriate length. 4. You Can't Pass The Finger Test © Twitter The two-finger test is a test through which you can figure out if you're wearing the right size or not. A waistline that fits well standing up might just be too tight while sitting down, which is why you need a size that hugs well in all movements possible. If you can't pinch your pants and still find space, you need to go a size higher. 5. Your Shirt Won't Stay Tucked In For The Longer Duration © Twitter A shirt coming untucked every now and then without reason might mean you're wearing the wrong size in shirts. While running around is a legitimate reason to find it untucked, but if it's a common nonoccurrence you need to go a size up. 6. Your Pockets Keep Flaring © Twitter The one red flag that you be aware of is flaring pants. While wearing pants, your pockets shouldn't find a way to pop out on their own. This not only looks awkward but is also super shabby. Besides, you don't need a pocket thief, as the flared-up pockets make it super easy for you to lose things. 7. Your Shirt Is Too Short When You Sit Down © Twitter Does your T-shirt ride up when you sit? Bad sign. You need to go up a size higher unless you like crop tops.
  7. Whatever style gaffes Suniel Shetty might be a victim of during the '90s, he has more than made up for all of that now. He probably is the fittest dad in Bollywood right now with grown up kids, and his fashion game is so on point that the only proper analogy would be that of aging wine. From giving 25-year-olds a run for their money to giving SRK style complex, this man is a force to reckon with. He just proved it once again by attending Amit Thackeray's wedding reception wearing a plain white dhoti and making it look runway-ready. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The white cotton dhoti is perhaps the most 'Indian' outfit of all times, when it comes to menswear, but it is terribly underrated. Be it the comfort, the grace, or the raw, natural, masculine appeal it exudes - there is no other outfit that can score better. Suniel Shetty clearly understands it, as he stood tall, wearing a simple dhoti amongst the glam and glitz around, and stealing everyone's thunder nonetheless. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani A white kurta and a cotton dhoti not only makes for the most comfortable outfit ever, it is also the most regal one - in a sophisticated, subtle manner. The fact that he chose to wear a pair of brown Kolhapuris with it, and kept it comfy yet classy, shows that his style game is as effortlessly functional as it is smart. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani All we can say is the new crop of Bollywood youngsters need a style lesson from him about how to keep it simple yet stunning, urgently. Kudos!
  8. Do you often admire the athletic physique of your college friend? Wonder why your friend is obsessing with his or her diet during college hours? Most of us during our college days think that a good physique is merely for looks, getting girls and appreciation from fellow mates. Apart from these superficial aspects, a fit body can have many other positive effects in your life. Here are the benefits following a dedicated training regime and a balanced diet plan during your college years: Reduced Stress & Anxiety Levels: Lifting weights and having a decent cardiovascular endurance can help reduce stress and anxiety levels. Aerobic exercise has shown to elevate and stabilize mood. Enhanced Cognitive Function: Exercise has been demonstrated to have an impact on our cognitive(brain) functions and improve alertness and focus. This can help you with your exams and academic endeavours. Better Sleep: Daily Exercise will help you fall asleep faster, improve your sleep quality and regulate your natural sleep cycle. Health Management: Whether you are skinny, fat or skinny fat, a daily exercise routine can help you enhance muscle mass in your body and reduce the excess unhealthy fat over time. A Sense Of Achievement: Completing your exercise goals and achieving small chunks of progress gives us a sense of achievement and increases our motivation levels inside as well as outside the gym. Increased Positivity: Seeing your body change for good and putting efforts for something productive makes you feel positive and you become more positive about life. Enhanced Physique: Who doesn't feel good with a good pair of strong arms or shoulders? Who doesn't feel good when clothes fit them better? Who doesn't like a compliment or two? I think this point is self-explanatory and yes please don't skip your Leg Day! Being fit and healthy increases your sense of self-value and your perceived value (value given to you by others) both of which contribute to an enhanced persona and self-confidence. This confidence can be highly rewarding while giving a seminar or networking with new people. Apart from the confidence boost and other potential upsides of participating in daily physical activity, there are some people who fall prey to the downsides by taking fitness to an extreme, skipping social occasions, and being too restrictive. Please don't take this route unless you are a competitive athlete, as college time won't come back and in the long term, such short-term deviation won't matter much. That's it, folks! If you are a college student and are not participating in any form of physical activity on a daily basis, you are making a HUGE MISTAKE. This is one of the most perfect solutions for someone looking to increase their confidence in a holistic manner. 9. Being a hardcore foodie, fitness was never on my mind in the first place, as all I wanted to do was just please my taste buds. Back in 2014, post my MBA, I joined a gym as a fluke to avoid boredom after work. I followed my girlfriend (now my wife) who thought it would be a good idea to a join a gym. We signed up with a personal trainer as well. Honestly, I had no intentions to achieve a stunning physique. I was there just to accompany my wife. It was not the first time that I was paying for a gym membership, as I had done this earlier as well and, of course, never went. Surprisingly, this time I managed to go to the gym for 1.5 years (all thanks to my wife) but with little and unsatisfactory progress. During this period, when I use to look around in the gym at people with a good physique, I gradually developed an aspiration for having a fit body myself. Gradually, I realized that my gym trainer was not adding any value to my progress and by that time, I was desperate for some good results. A lot of gym trainers are solely focussed on increasing their client base with absolutely no intention of doing any good for them. One fine day, I decided to go my own way and was the day, I believe, my actual fitness journey started. I made my own strict and disciplined regime and tried to stick to it. Slowly and gradually, the results started showing and it became a domino effect for me. In the pursuit of achieving more and take fitness seriously, I developed an interest in this field. I became focused and disciplined and started learning about fitness (nutrition/exercise) on my own. One of the biggest challenges for me was to have a discipline in life for both my workout and my diet. Being a foodie, it was very difficult to restrict myself to clean diets especially with long and stressful working hours at my job. I used to start with any diet but give up mid-way to sweet cravings (I have a very sweet tooth!) in a few days. Also, with lots of misleading information prevalent in this industry, everyone around (including internet) has their own so-called mantras of weight loss and muscle gain, which made it even more complicated for me to decide what to do/follow and what not. During the course of my fitness journey, I followed a lot of diets and workout regimes. I used to take a lot of guidance from different trainers and so-called fitness experts at the gym. I was told to take certain protein powders https://www.mensxp.com/health/supplements/44439-3-pro-tips-to-select-the-best-whey-protein-powder-and-not-get-cheated.html , supplements and fat burners; or else I would not be able to shed any weight. A lot of crash diets were recommended to me by the trainers and I was so obsessed to shed those extra kilos, that I followed everything but could not get the desired results. Since the time I became serious about my health, I started following many programs from the internet and curated my own diets as well. I used to follow those diets for a few weeks and then give up mid-way. Also, the programs which I used to follow were not really sustainable. I also took help of fat burners and other supplements (No steroid) in anticipation of fast-tracking the progress but of no use. Then I got to know about Pratik Thakkar of GetSetGo Fitness, whose client was at my gym, and I was impressed by his progress. When I got in contact with Pratik, I gradually understood how simple and self-sustaining a fitness journey can be, despite conflicting prevalent notions. The past one year has been a revelation for me. I learnt a lot about nutrition, lifestyle changes, keeping flexibility in my diets yet enjoy what I like. I still need to learn a lot and have a long way to go.
  10. If your target is to achieve a lean and chiselled six pack with decent muscle mass, that gives you the look of a bodybuilder, you need to get a gym membership. However, when we are talking about being 'fit', it isn't necessary that you need to spend thousands of bucks on a fancy gym membership. You can easily start working on your fitness goals, even without going to a proper gym facility. Today, I am going to tell you a few ways to start working on your fitness without going to a gym: 1) Yoga © Thinkstock Yoga is the most inexpensive form of exercise. No fancy equipment, no special shoes and clothing, just a mat and a clean floor. You don't need to be a professional to perform a few basic yoga moves. You can easily start with basic stretching on your own by reading from the books or watching a few online videos on yoga for beginners. Also, there are free yoga classes once in a while in local parks, where you can go and learn the stances and then practice on your own. Yoga will help you with flexibility and strengthening your muscles. 2) Bodyweight Strength Training © Pixabay Body weight training or callisthenics is a form of exercise where you use your own weight as a resistance to train your body. Body weight training is seriously underrated when it comes to training for strength. You can achieve a decent level of strength by working on your body using your own body weight with the help of a few exercises. Lunges, squatting, push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, chest-dips, triceps-dips are a few examples of exercise that can be performed without any equipment, just by using only your body weight. 3) Walking/Running © Pixabay Long distance walking or jogging is one of the most primitive yet effective ways to stay fit. It is especially very helpful for people who have a sedentary lifestyle or a sitting job. People who do not move much throughout the day should perform long distance walking or jogging to make sure they are burning enough calories every day and also keeping their joints in a healthy condition. You can go outside in a park to jog or if there is no park available nearby just go for a walk by the roadside. 4) Jumping Rope/Skipping © Pinterest Skipping is a very good form of exercise to increase your stamina, endurance and agility. You will see professional boxers doing skipping every day in their workout routine, that's because they use it to get better with their agility. It is also a great way to bring your heart rate up and to burn more calories. Try to include some form interval sets in between to make your skipping session interesting. 5) Taking The Stairs © Thinkstock I know it's difficult to take the stairs when you have the elevator available but trust me, your body will actually thank you for doing so. This is especially true for people who otherwise have a sedentary lifestyle. Taking the stairs at work or walking the stairs up and down after a heavy lunch or during your break time, will help you to exercise without even taking out time for it. Climbing stairs will help you to elevate your heart rate and also burn more calories. 11. In 'MXP Body Love', we ask people with amazing bodies the key questions about how to achieve, maintain, and basically take care of our bodies in the best way possible, while seeking their guidance on the same. While we want to know hacks on seemingly superficial topics such as how to look good without clothes, we also want to delve deep and discuss bigger issues such as body positivity, acceptance, how to deal with insecurities, and also how to move past difficulties and strive to reach the best version of oneself. Our 'Body Love' expert here is actor Dheeraj Dhoopar. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 1. One food item you should never, ever eat? I feel one must never eat anything made out of refined flour (Maida). It has no nutritional value at all and causes a lot of problems later on in life. 2. The one body part you should never ignore when it comes to workout? The one body part that is ignored the most but must never be ignored is legs. Working out legs has the most benefits, amongst all the body parts. It helps develop cardio vascular strength, helps burn fat faster and also helps in increasing metabolic rate. 3. Natural fuzz vs. waxed/trimmed body hair? I feel trimming body hair is the most convenient, and hence is the best. It saves a lot of time, and also does not affect the skin adversely. If someone naturally has less body hair, then nothing like that. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 4. Grooming essentials - what are the products you can't do without? I can't do without my perfume, and I definitely cannot do without my hair products. I have a lot of them and I keep buying new stuff to experiment with. Whenever I travel out of country I make it to point to get new products, or products that are not easily available. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 5. Shave down there or trim it? I feel trimming is better any day. Saves time and effort. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 6. Best lighting for clicking nudes (or just for the boudoir)? I think natural light during monsoon season is the best when it some to shooting nudes. That light is uniform and one can play with it to any extent as it's not too harsh. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 7. Did you ever face any insecurity about your own body? What did you do to deal with it? I have never faced any insecurity with my body. I know my body well and I know what suits my body. One thing I know is that I have a tendency to put on weight, and so I make it a point to only eat and drink what my body can handle. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 8. What is the toughest challenge according to you, when it comes to obtaining and maintaining a body in its peak shape? I feel the toughest challenge is to keep at it forever. One may attain a good physique but maintaining it forever it the toughest thing to do. A lot of mental toughness and will power is required to continue doing that. 9. Not everyone is content with the way their body looks. How do you suggest one should deal with it? One most know their body to the core. Once you understand your body, you will be comfortable with whoever you are. I don't think anyone who meets you will judge you on your body, because there are a lot of other things you need to work on before you focus on that. © Dheeraj Dhoopar 10. The lines are constantly thinning, when it comes to what is beautiful and what is not. Body positivity is slowly catching up, and the 'accepted standards' of beauty and fitness are getting questioned. What are your views about it? I completely support it, as there can't be any set parameters to judge anyone physically, especially since we live in a society. I feel getting comfortable with our own body by accepting the flaws makes us open to various other forms of body types around us, which is essential for our own mental well-being.
  12. 2019 is almost here and so is the reason for a host of 'new year new me' fitness resolutions. But instead of really abiding by the process, people unfortunately succumb to the lure of taking shortcuts to get fit. Here's a list of what not to do in the name of fitness resolutions in 2019: 1) Running Marathons Or Running Long Distances Regularly In Hopes Of Getting 'Fit' Running mindlessly on a treadmill or weekly marathons will not get you anywhere. It definitely wouldn't help you build muscle and look lean, which is the aim for most. Yes, you might lose a bit of fat but believe me that would be a lot of water weight. This will come at the cost of elevated cortisol levels (stress hormone), poor joint health and at best, a new skinny fat you with 'problem fat areas'. Mindless running is often coupled with crash diets or some stupid 'detox diets' which makes the case even worse. © YouTube 2) Following A Fitness 'Guru' Who Propagates A Specific Diet As 'The Best Diet' Do this diet and see the magic. If your trainer/guru tells you this, best believe that you are in for failure. There's no best fat loss diet and never will be. That's the very basic of fat loss. One size doesn't fit all. So if your fitness guide tells you to do a detox cleanse or a 7 day fat busting diet, look for a better coach. 3) Doing Aqua Zumba, Dance Fitness Or Aerobic Dance Classes The trend of zumba is so dumb on so many levels that I can literally write another article on it. They make people dance like mad cows in these classes without taking into account any injury, activity levels or the diet. People sweat tins and think they burned many calories and are getting slimmer. Of course, that's not the case. Of course you will lose a couple of kilos because before this you were not doing anything this physically demanding. But soon the weight loss will halt and all the lost weight will come back. 4) Cutting Out Carbohydrates And Shifting To Salad Only Diets The lowly informed main stream media has demonized carbohydrates so much that everybody thinks it makes people fat. Well, it doesn't. Excess calories coming from food makes people fat. Your overeating is making you fat. Salad diets are the absolute worse and eventually, if done for long, can land you in a hospital. © Thinkstock 5) Ketogenic Diet If you have a job, a budding social life, friends or family, this diet will take a toll on your interaction with all of these. In short- it's extremely hard to follow, makes very little sense nutritionally and the results it offers can be replicated by a normal 'carbohydrate inclusive diet'. Hence, think a hundred times before doing this.
  13. The wearables space, which started out as humble pedometers for step counting, has developed into activity trackers which are incredibly powerful when it comes to keeping track of your movements and health. Now, while fitness bands are increasingly gaining popularity, smartwatches to have started getting mainstream. A smartwatch is defined as a wearable that can run third-party apps. Usually, they are connected to your mobile phone for data access and many even come with onboard LTE support. With so many options available, it gets difficult to choose one, we've made a list of top wearables of 2018 that will come handy to every type of user. 1. Apple Watch © Apple Apple Watch is the most popular wearable device today, thanks to its near-perfect capabilities. While all other smartwatches belong to a niche, the Apple Watch stands right in the middle. In terms of design, it is a fashion accessory, while performance wise it's capable of making calls independent of your phone. The Series 4 comes in two new sizes-- 40mm and 44mm; the latter is available as an LTE (cellular) variant as well. It is powered by a new S4 chipset that Apple claims is two times faster. What's even more exciting is the watch has an improved gyroscope and accelerometer that can now predict if the person wearing it is falling. In case a fall is detected and no movement is recorded on the watch for one minute, it will automatically send out an SOS message. Buy here 2. Samsung Galaxy Gear Sport © ZDNET The Gear Sport is focused on one thing: intensive tracking. It comes with a varied selection of activity modes that will guide you through the motions as it measures your heart rate. It has a water-resistant rating of 5ATM or 50 meters and can be used while swimming along with tracking apps like Speedo. On the front is a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass protection and the battery is capable of getting you through two days on moderate usage. You can also add a host of third-party apps to further improve the experience. Samsung Pay is also supported on the watch but requires you to have a Samsung phone as well. lkink: 3. Amazfit Stratos © Amazon It is an affordable offering from Huami wherein Xiaomi is a leading investor. The watch tracks walking, running, cycling, triathlon, swimming, elliptical, mountaineering, trail running, tennis, soccer, and skiing. It comes with built-in GPS and GLONASS support. It sports a 1.34-inch always-on circular LCD panel display with 320×300 pixels of resolution and 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla protection. Under the hood, the smartwatch is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. It gives an average battery life of 5 days and up to 20 hours in GPS mode. While Fitbit usually focuses on fitness, the Versa takes it a step further with support for extensive third-party apps and watch faces. The design is simple and elegant while practical usability is top-notch. It sports a 1.34-inch OLED display and comes with a 5-day battery life. In fact, the Versa is the first Fitbit product to have special "Female health tracking". Users can log their menstrual cycle start and end dates, as well as symptoms like headaches, acne, and cramps. Buy here 5. Mi Band 3 © WikiMedia While all other selections so far have been smartwatches, the only fitness band to make the cut is the Mi Band 3. Xiaomi's fitness bands have been top-selling since their debut thanks to an inexpensive price and value-added features. The Mi Band 3 has a 0.78-inch display that is easily visible in direct sunlight. It can track your steps, distance, and also includes a heart rate sensor. Due to its small display size and limited capabilities, it can last more than 15 days on a single charge. It can also notify you about oncoming notifications from your phone. Buy here 6. GOQii Vital © Digit GOQii has a more inclusive ecosystem for fitness enthusiasts that includes a health locker, health store, as well as direct consultation with a coach. Purchasing the band gives you 3 months of personal coaching via the platform. It has a colour OLED display and 5 days of active battery life. The GOQii platform features are additional, the band is still capable of usual activity tracking, exercise mode, notification support, and heart rate sensor. Buy here
  14. “Senorita, bade bade deshon mein aesi choti choti baate hoti rehti hai…” via GIPHY An iconic dialogue from the movie 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', immortalized on screen with the scenic backdrop of Europe. And all I wanted to do was go on a Euro trip; see the scenic Swiss Alps, soak in the culture of France or roam through the legendary Roman streets. What was at the top of my list? Paris! There's something truly charming and dreamy about Paris, which is considered the romantic capital of the world. via GIPHY All my delusions were disillusioned when I saw the cost of travelling and staying there; romantic dreams be damned. It seems like the perfect romantic destination (if you overlook the cost :P); pretty, quaint sidewalks littered with cafés, everyone speaking in French, sharing a soufflé with your S.O. while enjoying the view of the scenic Eiffel Tower. © Thinkstock/Getty Images © Thinkstock/Getty Images Or walking down the spectacular Champs Elysées or being teased by Mona Lisa's beatific smile at the Louvre Museum. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Or being mesmerized by the gorgeous and elegant architecture. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Unfortunately, every one of us is not that lucky (read rich) to go and spend an insane amount of money on a trip to Paris, which is also one of the most expensive cities to live in. Well, we are happy to tell you that now you can get the feel of Europe in Asia itself. Yes, you heard it right. The beautiful City of Lights has been replicated in China (where else :P) and by God, it is an unbelievable doppelgänger of Paris. Right from the quaint walkways, the old school charm, the quintessential arc lamps and the monumental Eiffel Tower; an incredulous feat in itself. All this in a neighbouring country, which is known for its cheap products and a knack for knock-offs! This time they have gone big and replicated a whole part of another country. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Situated in a town called Tianducheng, located in the suburb of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province of China, the town boasts of a replica of the Eiffel Tower. Standing tall at 354 feet, nearly one-third the length of the original, the tower rivals the one in Paris in its grandeur and grace. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Quite near to Shanghai, Tianducheng is an hour away via train. A framed Champs Elysées, a version of the Versailles Neptune Fountain, various statues exactly like the ones in Paris, other fountains, the beautiful gardens, Haussmannian buildings, the avenues, the walkways and the graceful Parisian architecture which has charmed everyone for centuries. With meticulous detailing, the town is set to give one the feeling of being in Paris or at the very least, make you think of it. © Thinkstock/Getty Images Just look at it! Can you differentiate between the real and the fake? © Thinkstock/Getty Images © Thinkstock/Getty Images The real one is the first image. Could you tell? (I couldn't, at first glance!) Its uncanny resemblance is easy to fool even the stringent of observers. Interestingly, French photographer Francois Prost has an entire photo series, aptly titled “Paris Syndrome” which compares the photographs of both cities; their architecture, the people and the entire vibe of both cities. He has tried to capture the essence of the overlapping cultures. He says, that even though he is French, he was enamoured and pleasantly surprised by the eerie similarities between the two cities and was impressed with the attention to detail given to the buildings in Tianducheng. You can check out his work here: Unbelievable, isn't it? Though the original will always remain the best thing to behold, as is the case with originals every time, this dwarfed twin is a great example of imitation being the best form of flattery. China is notorious for copying other places around the world and providing people with an alternative travel destination, an Eastern variation of cities of the West if you will. Unfortunately, most of the cities turn to ghost towns; Tianducheng being one of them. © Pinterest What was anticipated to be a famous tourist destination and a bustling metropolis buzzing with people did not turn out to live up to its potential; its projected population density was never fulfilled. It was created in 2007 with hopes of turning it into a multi-million-dollar housing estate. Nearly empty, it hardly saw any tourists; a city which was Parisian in its appearance but wasn't good enough for people to inhabit. With hardly 2.000 occupants as of 2013, the city was thought of to be a massive failure. But it seems to be changing now, as per new reports of 2017; owing to the mounting curiosity among travellers across the world for ghost cities. The count of inhabitants has come to be around 30,000, giving its real estate a chance to see growth in a long time. The upliftment can also be a result of the growing economy of China (though it may be at a slow pace). © Thinkstock/Getty Images Most tourists come here to take a picture with the Eiffel Tower in the background, living the dream of seeing it firsthand (even though it is a fake), just for the novelty of it or for fooling people back home (:P). © Thinkstock/Getty Images Wedding photography is quite prevalent with the famed city tower in the backdrop. Who wouldn't want to be married in Paris and have a photoshoot under the beautiful sculpture? In fact, musician Jamie XX used the city's ghost town status to his advantage by shooting his music video for “GOSH” here; where else would you get a deserted Eiffel tower or an empty Paris? :P Why you should visit? For the thrill of seeing one of the most magnificent monuments in the world in a place which you couldn't have imagined it to be. And a cheaper trip to see the fascinating Eiffel Tower without travelling all the way to Europe! So, what's stopping you? Go, travel to China, say Ni hao to the Eiffel Tower, click pictures and make your friends jealous! Till then, au revoir! The Eiffel Tower awaits!
  15. Have you as a kid or, scratch that, even as an adult wondered if you could be in top shape like the athletes out there? Ok let's be honest, we all have, and some of us dream about it even now. When it comes to the NBA, the players, apart from being immensely talented, maintain a level of fitness which is almost second to none. After all the speed, agility and endurance on the court does not come out of thin air. Years of commitment, hard work and practice are needed. What we see is the final result, what we often ignore is the effort put in behind achieving that result. So having seen how fit NBA players are, we as fans of players and basketball in general have certainly asked ourselves this question - can we be fit as them? Well, I have got news for you guys, yes we can! No, this is no joke or a pep talk to make you feel better. It is possible. NBA players don't stay in shape by some divine intervention. In fact, they do so by following a set of exercises. Now of course workout regimes, gym sessions and methods vary from player to player so there is no fixed set to follow. Nonetheless, here are some common ones you can include in your routine if you want to maintain that level of fitness. Let's take a look: 1. Split Stance Sprinters One literally has to stand in a split stance and then sprint a certain distance. The key is to keep the body alert so that the adjustment can be easily made. This improves sprinting speeds as well as the ability to jump higher. Core strength is the key for any athlete and your speed is always a major factor. 2. Jump Rope As the name suggests, just jump over the rope and keep it in motion so that the jumps are timed in sequence. This is the perfect workout to get the blood flowing in the knees. It can be done almost anywhere in the gym. The footwork of a player improves and also the knee muscles are enhanced. However, when jumping rope, one must ensure that it is not on a hard surface like cement as that can do damage to the knees over time. 3. Weightlifting Going to the gym at least three days a week is a must. Ensure that weight lifting sessions are distributed equally between light and heavy to avoid the risk of too much load. This builds body strength, particularly in the arms. 4. Power Lunge Rope Slams Slam a rope constantly on the surface of the floor and keep on doing it until a rhythm is maintained. This has to be done at a fast pace and requires both physical and mental endurance. The exercise is good for both upper and lower body strength. 5. Flexibility Exercises One can improve the flexibility of one's body by performing stretching exercises. This helps during more intense workouts to build muscle and burn a lot of fat which is a key factor to stay in shape. 6. Ball Handle Lunges Engage your core, standing hip width apart with shoulders relaxed. Holding a medicine ball a few inches in front of the chest, step forward into a lunge with the right leg. This does wonders for body strength. 7. Dumbbell Press This one is using two dumbbells to perform a hand exercise while lying on one's back. It's not an easy task as both dumbbells need to be balanced as does the body. This is good for the biceps, shoulders and also upper body endurance.

If you have followed my work or had a look at the evidence-based fitness industry scene in the past decade, you pretty much must have heard that your body composition goals do not depend on eating clean or eating healthy all the time. Your weight loss comes down to your calories in vs. calories out aka calorie balance and to ensure that you are losing fat, it is necessary that you consume adequate Protein and lift weights 3 to 4 times in a week. And no, this is not a thing that I am claiming from anecdotal observations. This has been concluded via research and holds true for anyone and everyone. What this means is that you do not have to EXCLUSIVELY eat clean foods or the so-called healthy foods all the time. As this idea falls flat in its face by assuming certain foods are good for you and certain foods are bad for you. One food in particular never changes your body composition. It is the entirety of your diet and it has been shown that moderating this so-called junk food can lead to higher dietary satisfaction and adherence. Keeping this in mind, your beloved McDonald's can be had as an option occasionally while dieting. Here are five items you can order the next time in McDonald's which are under 400 kcals and have some okay-ish quantity of Protein in it: 1. 20. On days when Priyanka Chopra is not chilling with Nick Jonas, she is busy making headlines for the same and for the decisions she takes in her professional life. People still haven't stopped talking about her sudden exit from Salman Khan's 'Bharat' or why her movie with Chris Pratt has been delayed for an indefinite time. Instagram However, in all these years or since the time people started following her on social media, her fans have never seen her workout pictures or videos. So what's the secret behind her fitness? I am sure there's no magical fountain she is secretly sipping from. It's obvious that she works hard to be healthy and fit and her latest gym selfie is proof of the same. Recently, Priyanka suprised her 26 million fans with a gym selfie with the caption, "In between sets..#selfies#trainingday." In between sets.. #selfiefirst #trainingday ð¤¦ð½‍âï¸ð A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on Aug 7, 2018 at 12:16am PDT But, that's not even the best part of the picture. The best thing about her gym selfie was a single comment that came from none other than her on-screen brother from 'Dil Dhadakne Do' Ranveer Singh. Being the prankster that Ranveer is, he couldn't stop himself from making the most out of this golden opportunity. He wrote, "PC working out? I have seen everything. What are you eating post workout? Chivda?" Now that sounds like a legit question, doesn't it? Instagram Priyanka Chopra was quick to reply to his comment, "Nahi yaar! I have learned focus and dedication from you!" Honestly, we are in love with this funny banter that's going on between the two. Instagram While everyone including us, her friends and stylist were shocked to see this selfie, it sure is a great motivation for those trying to get a perfect summer body, for 2019 since 2018 is almost over.
