  2. Rauf says playing for Pakistan in front of home fans brings no added pressure. — Photo: Geo.tv/screengrabHaris Rauf, the fast bowler catapulted into stardom by the Big Bash League (BBL), on Tuesday said that playing on home ground in the upcoming Bangladesh series would boost his morale instead of adding pressure. “There is a difference between playing league cricket and playing for your country. The mindset is [different of course]. But in a home series, the crowd at the stadium is your own, which provides a boost instead of adding any pressure. I take this as a positive,” Rauf said days after leaving Australia and linking up with the national squad back home for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Read more: Haris Rauf pays homage to Lahore Qalandars after 'dream-come-true' Pakistan call-up Rauf, who was one of the stars of the ongoing BBL, claiming 16 wickets in just seven matches for Melbourne Stars and his association with Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars has led some to believe that he is a T20 specialist — another notion the pacer is keen to erase. “My aim is to play continuously and for long periods,” he said, reiterating that “I want to represent Pakistan in all the formats.” The pacer fired a warning in the direction of Bangladeshi batsmen, saying that he touched the 150kmph mark in the BBL and wants to bowl just as quick in the upcoming series.
  3. At 33 years of age, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza made a return to the hard court after a two-year long break from the sport and it was almost as if she picked up right from where she left before she became a mother. The 2020 edition of the Hobart International Tournament saw Mirza booking a berth in the doubles quarterfinals with Ukranian partner Nadia Kichenok after defeating the duo of Oksana Kalashnikova Miyu Kato 2-6, 7-6 (3), 10-3 in a contest that lasted one hour and 45 minutes. 4. Photo: FileKARACHI: Global credit rating agency Fitch Ratings on Monday affirmed Pakistan’s long term foreign currency rating at B- with a stable outlook, saying the country has taken positive steps on fiscal front as well as measures to strengthen external finance, reported The News. “Progress is being made towards strengthening external finances and positive steps have been made on the fiscal front, but considerable risks remain,” the New York-based rating agency said. Fitch said external vulnerabilities have been reduced over the past year as a result of policy actions and financing unlocked through an International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, which have narrowed the current account deficit and supported a modest rebuilding of reserves. Also read: Huawei says 'survival' top priority as sales fall short “Still, external finances remain fragile with relatively low foreign-exchange reserves in the context of an elevated external debt repayment schedule and subdued export performance,” it noted. The IMF’s Extended Fund Facility is on track, with the first review completed in December. However, implementation risks remain high in Fitch’s view, particularly given the politically challenging nature of the authorities’ reform agenda. Fitch forecasts a further narrowing of the current account deficit to 2.1 per cent of GDP in the year ending June 2020 (FY20) and 1.9 per cent in FY21, from 4.9 per cent in the last fiscal year. Also read: IMF bailout to negatively impact Pakistan's short-run growth: Fitch It held import compression as the driver narrowing deficit, facilitated by rupee depreciation of around 30 per cent since December 2017 and tighter monetary conditions. Exports were forecast to grow modestly from a low base. The State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) adoption of a more flexible exchange rate last May and capital inflows were also supporting a rebuilding of foreign-exchange reserves. Fitch expects gross liquid foreign-exchange reserves to rise to around $11.5 billion by FYE20, from $7.2 billion at FYE19. “We expect continued adherence to the new exchange rate regime to help rebuild foreign-exchange reserves and improve external resilience,” Fitch said. “Public finances are a key credit weakness and deteriorated further in FY19 prior to the approval of the IMF programme,” it noted. Also read: Pakistan budget deficit projected to increase to 6% in 2019: Fitch The agency said gross external financing needs of the country would likely remain high, in the mid-$20 billion range, over the medium-term due to considerable debt repayments and despite smaller current account deficit. Fitch said government debt rose to 84.8 per cent of GDP, well above the current ‘B’ median of 54 per cent, due to currency depreciation. Debt/revenue also jumped sharply to 667 per cent, compared with the historic ‘B’ median of 252 per cent. The government was consolidating public finances, but Fitch believes progress would be challenging due to the relatively high reliance on revenues to achieve the planned adjustment.
  5. I believe that the most difficult job on the field is that of the wicket-keeper. They need to stay dialed in for every delivery of the match including the extras. One error and the ball can go for a free boundary. A slow reaction-time, even of a millisecond and the opportunity to stump a batsman is gone. A wicket-keeper guides the bowler after reading the batsman's mind. He also becomes the second-in-command alongside his captain in deciding the field set-up of the players. Once he completes all of his duties as the man behind the stumps, he also needs to play the role of a good batsman for his team. Clearly in the modern era, the role of a stumper has become a lot more difficult than it used to be 15 to 20 years ago. © Twitter The problem for the Indian cricket team is that they are currently struggling to get someone good to fill that spot. Ever since the former captain of the Men in Blue, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has gone on a break over five months ago, the coaching staff has devoted their trust in Rishabh Pant as the next flag-bearer in limited-overs cricket but have not seen favourable outcomes from him even in a single series. After months and months of over-depending on a 22-year-old Pant, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has finally hinted at dropping him and allowing him to find his way back to excellence in domestic cricket for the next couple of months so that he's ready by the time ICC T20 World Cup begins in October 2020. © Twitter Having said that, Shastri and Co. might just be missing out on someone who'd be perfect for the 20-over World Cup tournament. Someone who has not only shown his capability to score big runs in fewer overs but also his skills behind the wicket in the past. That someone is KL Rahul. Sure, Rahul is not known for his skills behind the wicket in international cricket but he has proven to be one of the top five Indian wicket-keepers during his six-year journey in the Indian Premier League with an average of 0.69 dismissals per game. © Twitter The Mangalore-born also has the best batting average amongst all the other Indian wicket-keeper batsmen at 34.08 runs per innings while other players estimate around: Rishabh Pant (32.14) MS Dhoni (26.07), Robin Uthappa (25.94), Dinesh Karthik (22.41), and Sanju Samson (24.82). The fact that he is a regular wicket-keeper for his home-state of Karnataka in domestic cricket also adds to his case. “I can understand if Rahul was an absolute makeshift 'keeper But that's not the case as he keeps wickets for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and for his state side as well. In fact, he was actually a wicketkeeper during his under-19 days,” former India wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta had told the Times of India. © Twitter Even Shastri has began to see the big picture here and is finally inclining towards Rahul as someone he could look at doing a good job behind the stumps; a backup if not main role-player. "It is an absolute option,” he said in an interview with India Today. “You got to see where your strength is. Tomorrow, there could be a couple of guys in the middle-order who are firing with unbelievable innings in the IPL. And then if you have a guy who can multi-task, who could be used at the top, because there's some firepower at the back who are doing extremely well, then why not," he added. View the full article
  6. Delhi Capitals (DC), the team which has seen a different side of themselves after the change in their name, have given a decent performance in the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Winning three games out of the six they have played so far, Delhi have managed to maintain the fifth spot in the league table, courtesy the skipper; Shreyas Iyer. Always leading the team from the front, Iyer has been a crucial part of the DC in all the matches they have played till now. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Delhi Capitals (@delhicapitals) on Apr 7, 2019 at 7:23am PDT Starting off by scoring decent 30's and 40's in the first few matches, the DC captain managed to score a mind-boggling 67 against the wounded Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their home ground on Sunday. Handing RCB their sixth consecutive loss by defeating them by four wickets, Iyer did not only win the match but also earned the third place in the race for 'The Orange Cap' by scoring 215 runs in all the six matches he has played. Now, settling with the perfect combination of his team, the Mumbai lad is at least expected to take his team, Delhi Capitals to the top four by the end of the season, if not winning the trophy.
  7. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is credited for many things in cricket. His leadership skills allowed India to scale new heights in international cricket. Dhoni's unorthodox glovework has become a case study for budding wicket-keepers. And, needless to mention, his famous 'helicopter shot' has now become a trademark amongst batsmen. We've seen a few batsmen in the past repeating Dhoni's trademark shot. Whether it was Rashid Khan, Prithvi Shaw or Rishabh Pant, everyone appears to be busy emulating Dhoni on the field. And, Hardik Pandya isn't far behind. Twitter/@IPL Coming in to bat in the 17th over, Pandya showed signs of aggression on the first delivery of the penultimate over after he smashed Shardul Thakur for a six over square leg. Then, after Kieron Pollard hammered Bravo for a six on the third delivery, Pandya gave Mumbai a final flourish by scoring 16 runs (6,4 and 6) off the final three balls. M15: MI vs CSK – Hardik Pandya Six https://t.co/GjfmMNB7va via @ipl — Dixit Bhargav (@dixitbhargav09) April 3, 2019 He helicoptered Bravo's yorker into the top tier - something Dhoni would have also enjoyed from behind the stumps - on the fourth delivery. Then, he punched a drive through extra cover for a boundary. And, finally, slashing a fuller delivery over third man to finish with a six. A staggering 29 runs came off Bravo's final over with Pandya finishing at an 8-ball 25 alongside Pollard's 7-ball 17. While Pandya played some brilliant strokes, his version of Dhoni's 'helicopter shot' undoubtedly captured the imagination of cricket fans on the social media. 10. I will have to be honest, I don't know much, okay anything about sports, but I'm very well-versed in memes and we can all agree that Neymar won the best meme trophy during the FIFA World Cup this year. All of his over dramatic antics earned him the title of a crybaby and I think it is quite well-deserved. I mean, remember this Oscar-worthy performance? And, these hilarious memes? He has been mocked so much this World Cup but his memes have died down since then. So, he took it upon himself to get back on Twitter's good side and he made of fun of himself and it was hilarious. You know you can trust a person who can take a joke about themselves, and Neymar just did that during a game last night. After scoring a goal over Nimes in France's Ligue 1 yesterday, he saw chance to put all the 'crybaby' ridicule to rest and he jumped on it. Some people in the audience had brought over the banner 'Neymar is a crybaby' and he took the opportunity to go celebrate his goal by going in front of the banner and made a crying motion in front of it. 12. Being a midfielder is perhaps the toughest position in football. Yes, people might argue that each position comes with its own list of difficulties, but everyone should agree that the midfield is where the game is won or lost… most of the time. With teams like Italy, Chile and the Netherlands missing out on this years edition, we're not going to see players like Thiago Motta, Arturo Vidal or Arjen Robben. But, that in no way means there's a lack of talent on offer. This is the biggest football event in the world, after all. So, let's take a look at 11 midfield maestros who will be vying for top honours at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia: 1. Andres Iniesta (Spain) © Reuters Spain has the kind of line-up which could win the World Cup. This is their chance to pick up a second World Cup this decade and Andres Iniesta is going to be at the center of this for sure. He's been one of the country's key players for a while now and has also been called 'the most talented player in the history of Spain by his international teammate Xavi. 2. Angel Di Maria (Argentina) © Reuters It's tough to shine when you're in the same team as Lionel Messi. But, it seems Angel has put his Manchester United days behind him and found his form at Paris Saint-Germain. The World Cup is the perfect opportunity for Angel to show he still has some football left in him at 30, as he looks to move to an Atletico Madrid side that's reinventing itself under Diego Simeone. 3. Dele Alli (England) © Reuters Will he be another Steven Gerrard or will he end up like Jack Wilshere? That's the big question when it comes to Dele Alli. So far, he's proved the critics wrong at every turn. But, will he be good enough to carry England to their second World Cup trophy? It's a tall ask, even for this 22-year-old footballer from Milton Keynes. 4. Gylfi Sigurdsson (Iceland) © Reuters One of the most popular Icelandic footballers ever, Gylfi has made quite a name for himself in the English Premier League over the years. He was instrumental in Iceland's success at Euro 2016 and he's going to be the focal point of their attack this year round as well. But, if there's one thing we learned about Iceland at Euro 2016 though, it's that they don't rely on just one player. 5. James Rodriguez (Colombia) © Reuters The Colombian football team that's going to feature at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, is arguably one of the strongest teams they've ever fielded. At the last World Cup, James was the top goal scorer with 6 in 5 games. He'll be looking to better that performance this time around for sure. 6. Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium) © Reuters One of the strongest sides at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Belgium have a number of midfielders that have the potential to be match winners. Right at the top of that list is Premier League title winner, Kevin De Bruyne. This is going to be De Bruyne's first major test in what is, the biggest football contest in the world. He's come a long way from Gent, that's for sure. 7. Luka Modric (Croatia) © Reuters Croatia are the proud owners of a 3-0 win over Germany at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Modric was just 12 at the time. But, ever since he made it into the squad for the 2006 World Cup, there's been no doubt about his place. He is the centerpiece around which the team operates. It's not a long shot to say the team's success will depend on Modric's form at the event. 8. Mesut Ozil (Germany) © Reuters When you're a part of the number one team in football going into the World Cup, there is already too much expected from you as a player. But, pressure isn't something new for Mesut Ozil. A lot of fans aren't happy with the player right now for getting a photo clicked with Turkish President Erdogan and it's pretty obvious he's going to face some heat heading into the tournament. A couple of good performances and he should be well on his way to redeeming himself. 9. Paul Pogba (France) © Reuters The second most expensive player in the world, Pogba has a lot riding on him at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. France have the kind of squad which could win the World Cup and if that happens, Pogba is undoubtedly going to have a major role to play. He's no Zinedine Zidane and is nowhere near the best player at the World Cup, but if he gets going, he'll certainly prove why he deserves that £89,000,000 price tag. 10. Philippe Coutinho (Brazil) © Reuters Philippe's name is in the list of players that could be vying for the Golden Boot at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. While Coutinho debuted for Brazil back in 2010, this is the first time he's going to be playing at the World Cup. A lot of eyes are going to be on the prolific attacking midfielder and with Neymar's fitness in question, he may just end up being the talisman for Brazil if they are to win a 6th title. 11. Toni Kroos (Germany) © Reuters Toni Kroos is the kind of player who's easy to miss. He doesn't stand out, he doesn't score a ton of goals, he doesn't create a lot of chances, but he's one of the best midfielders in the business right now. Why? When he is on the pitch, he is the one controlling the game. There's no two ways about it. But you'll never notice it. That's what makes Toni Kroos so special.

  14. Arguably one of the biggest names in international cricket, Virat Kohli's leadership skills and artistry with the willow has earned him a strong fanbase across the globe. Whether he's playing at home or abroad, Kohli continues to garner praise and win accolades on the back of his consistent on-field exploits. So much so that he's even loved in Pakistan - often labelled as India's arch-rivals. Given his stardom, it's quite understandable that the Delhi lad gets a lot of requests for selfies and autographs wherever he goes. But, in a bizzare incident, it appears that Kohli was left absolutely shell-shocked and embarrassed by a waiter during India's tour of South Africa earlier this year. Team India locked horns with South Africa in three Tests, six One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 (T20) Internationals during the months of January and February in 2018. While the visitors lost the Test series 2-1, they made an astounding comeback to clinch the ODIs 5-1 and T20Is 2-1. Instagram/@virat.kohli During the gruelling tour, Kohli went out for lunch with his teammates in Cape Town. The Indian cricketers were feasting on the local cuisine when a waiter recognised Kohli and shook his hand while telling him how much he enjoys his game. After a while, another waiter came to their table and pushed his arm out. Thinking that the other waiter also wanted to shake his hand, Kohli raised his arm towards him. However, to the utter embarrassment of Kohli and sheer delight of his teammates, the waiter ignored Kohli and reached out to pick up a dirty plate from their table. "These guys went mad. I felt so embarrassed. He didn't even look at my hand!" Kohli narrated the incident during his interview with ESPN. Instagram/@virat.kohli In another incident, Kohli revealed how he met three Indians in Finland where he had travelled with his wife Anushka Sharma for their honeymoon. "We bumped into three Indians at a coffee shop. What are the odds?" Kohli said. And, in order to maintain their privacy, the star couple requested them not to share the pictures on social media, and the three fans duly obliged. With just six wins out of their 14 league games, Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered an early exit from the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While his team might have stuttered, Kohli enjoyed yet another prolific run in the IPL this season, scoring 530 runs at an average of 48.18 and a strike-rate of over 130. The 29-year-old will now travel to England for his County stint with Surrey in June. The move has been orchestrated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a bid to help Kohli get acclimatised with the English conditions ahead of their highly-anticipated tour which comprises five Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is - slated to begin from 3rd July.

  16. Home of former Russian military intelligence officer Sergei Skripal, in Salisbury, Britain. Photo: Reuters LONDON: Russian former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned with a nerve toxin that had been left on the front door of their home in England, British counter-terrorism police said on Wednesday. After the first known offensive use of a chemical weapon on European soil since World War Two, Britain blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the attempted assassination and the West has expelled around 130 Russian diplomats. Russia has denied any involvement in the attack and has said it suspects the British secret services of using the Novichok nerve agent, which was developed by the Soviet military, to frame Russia and stoke anti-Russian hysteria. ?We believe the Skripals first came into contact with the nerve agent from their front door,? said Dean Haydon, Britain?s? senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing. ?Specialists have identified the highest concentration of the nerve agent, to-date, as being on the front door of the address,? Scotland Yard said in a statement. Skripal and his 33-year-old daughter, Yulia, have been in a critical condition since being found unconscious on a public bench in the English city of Salisbury on March 4. A British judge has said they may have suffered permanent brain damage. The attempted murder of Skripal, a 66-year-old former colonel in Russian military intelligence who betrayed dozens of Russian agents to Britain?s MI6 spy service, has plunged Moscow?s relations with the West to a new post-Cold War low. After Britain expelled 23 Russians it said were spies working under diplomatic cover, Russia followed by throwing out 23 British diplomats. The United States and other Western countries, including most member states of the European Union and NATO, expelled over 100 diplomats. 'Enough is enough' British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said the Kremlin had underestimated the Western response to the attack on Skripal and his daughter, which also injured a British policeman. Johnson told an audience of ambassadors in London that 27 countries have now moved to expel Russian diplomats over Moscow?s suspected involvement - which Russia denies. ?These expulsions represent a moment when a feeling has suddenly crystallised, when years of vexation and provocation have worn the collective patience to breaking point, and when across the world ? across three continents ? there are countries who are willing to say enough is enough,? Johnson said. ?If they (Russia) believed that we had become so morally weakened, so dependent on hydrocarbons, so chronically risk-averse and so fearful of Russia that we would not dare to respond, then this is their answer,? he added. Putin, who has been dealing with a deadly shopping centre fire in Siberia, has yet to respond, though Moscow has threatened to take retaliatory action against the West. ?An analysis of all the circumstances ... leads us to think of the possible involvement in it (the poisoning) of the British intelligence services,? the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday before the announcement by British police. ?If convincing evidence to the contrary is not presented to the Russian side we will consider that we are dealing with an attempt on the lives of our citizens as a result of a massive political provocation.? A London court last week gave permission for blood samples to be taken from the Skripals for examination by chemical weapons inspectors to confirm a conclusion by Britain that the military nerve agent had been used. An unidentified doctor who is treating the Skripals said they were both heavily sedated and unable to communicate, and that it was not possible to assess when or to what extent either may regain mental capacity, according to the court?s ruling. Skripal, who was turned by British spies while in Spain, ended up in Britain after a Cold War-style spy swap that brought 10 Russian spies captured in the United States back to Moscow in exchange for those accused by Moscow of spying for the West. Since emerging from the John le Carre world of high espionage and betrayal, Skripal lived modestly in the English cathedral city of Salisbury and kept out of the spotlight until he was found unconscious on March 4. His house in Salisbury, which featured a good-luck horseshoe on the front door, was bought for 260,000 pounds ($360,000) in 2011. Skripal was listed at living there under his own name. In the years since he found refuge in Britain, Skripal lost both a wife and son. The attack on Skripal has been likened in Britain to the killing of ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, a critic of Putin, who died in London in 2006 after drinking green tea laced with radioactive polonium 210. Russia denied any involvement in that killing. An inquiry led by senior British judge Robert Owen found that former KGB bodyguard Andrei Lugovoy and another Russian, Dmitry Kovtun, carried out the killing as part of an operation probably directed by Russia?s Federal Security Service (FSB). British police said they would continue to focus their enquiries around Skripal?s home address as the investigation continued.
  17. The White House as seen from outside the north lawn fence in Washington, US, September 22, 2014. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque/Files WASHINGTON: A man fatally shot himself on the crowded pedestrian avenue directly in front of the White House on Saturday, officials said. "Adult male has been declared deceased," the Washington, DC Police Department said on Twitter. The Secret Service said a white male approached the fence north of the White House at about 11:46 AM (1646 GMT), "removed a concealed handgun and fired several rounds, none of which appear at this time to have been directed towards the White House." The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of kin, the Secret Service said in a statement. While as many as 100 people ? mostly tourists ? were on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House at the time, no one else was reported hurt, the Secret Service said. Police and medical personnel quickly swarmed the area, and the White House was placed on lockdown. The area north of the White House was cleared and cordoned off. Police also draped yellow crime-scene tape along a full block of nearby K Street, where authorities were searching a parked car. At the time, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania were at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The president was set to return to Washington later Saturday to attend the annual Gridiron Club media dinner. "We are aware of the incident," deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said. "The president has been briefed." Local police will lead an investigation of the shooting, with support from the Secret Service and other agencies, the Secret Service said. Reporters in the White House briefing room first tweeted about the shooting, saying they had been told to shelter in place. Disturbances outside the White House are not rare. On February 23, a woman was arrested after crashing her vehicle into a security barrier near the presidential residence. And there have been repeated attempts to jump over fences around the building.

  20. Tesla's new electric semi truck is unveiled during a presentation in Hawthorn, California, U.S., November 16, 2017. REUTERS HAWTHORNE: Tesla Inc upstaged its own debut of an electric heavy duty truck on Thursday when a red Roadster pulled out of the big rig?s trailer and Chief Executive Elon Musk said the new $200,000 sports car would be the fastest production car ever. The showmanship wowed the crowd although some analysts? heads started throbbing at the variety of new projects launched as the company is struggling to produce the more affordable sedan upon which its future depends. As the presentation appeared to end, the Tesla Semi opened its trailer, and the Roadster drove out. The sports car with a removable glass roof is an updated version of Tesla?s first production vehicle. It can seat four and travel 620 miles (1,000 km) on a single charge, a new record for an electric vehicle, Musk said. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (100 km per hour) in 1.9 seconds with a maximum speed over 250 mph, which would make it the fastest car in general production. ?You?ll be able to travel from LA to San Francisco, and back, at highway speed without recharging. The point of doing this is to just give a hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars. Driving a gasoline sports car is going to feel like a steam engine with a side of quiche,? Musk boasted. The first 1,000 cars will cost $250,000 each, paid in full up front, with later models starting at $200,000. Musk did not give a price for the Semi, or say how or where either product would be built, but he said the truck would begin production in 2019 and that the Roadster would be available a year later. Projects and Products Multiply Musk has described electric trucks as Tesla?s next effort to move the economy away from fossil fuels through projects including electric cars, solar roofs and power storage. Some analysts fear the truck will be an expensive distraction for Tesla, which is burning cash, has never posted an annual profit, and is in self-described ?manufacturing hell? starting up production of the $35,000 Model 3 sedan. ?Elon?s showmanship remains intact, even as his customers? patience for Model 3 delivery wanes,? Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader, said by email. ?The specs on the new semi truck and sports car would put both vehicles at the top of their segments...assuming they can be produced and sold as part of a sustainable business plan. So far that final element has eluded Tesla Motors, which makes it difficult to see these vehicles as more than ?what if? concept cars,? he added. Tesla also has to convince the trucking community that it can build an affordable electric big rig with the range and cargo capacity to compete with relatively low-cost, time-tested diesel trucks. The heavy batteries eat into the weight of cargo an electric truck can haul. The truck can go up to 500 miles (800 km) at maximum weight at highway speed, Musk said, without giving the size of the payload. Musk said the Class 8 vehicle, the heaviest weight classification for trucks, in 30 minutes can recharge the battery enough to go 400 miles, and that Tesla would build a global, solar-powered network of ?megachargers.? Diesel trucks are capable of traveling up to 1,000 miles (1,600 km) on a single tank of fuel. Musk said diesel trucks were 20 percent more expensive per mile to operate than his electric truck. Self-driving technology would allow the trucks to travel in convoys, where only the front truck would need a driver, making trucks cheaper than rail, Musk added. That vision, however, faces an uncertain regulatory future, since Congress is considering exempting heavy duty trucks from looser self-driving rules in the works, after truckers lobbied that safety and millions of jobs could be at risk. The day cab - which is not a sleeper - has a less prominent nose than on a classic truck, and the battery is built into the chassis. Tesla designed the cab for good visibility, with a center seat flanked by two touch screens. Tesla showed off the semi on a webcast which offered reservations for the truck at $5,000 each, but Musk did not discuss reservation volume. Old Dominion Freight Line Inc, the fourth-largest U.S. less-than-truckload carrier, which consolidates smaller freight loads onto a single truck, said it was not signing on. ?We met with Tesla and at this time we do not see a fit with their product and our fleet,? Dave Bates, senior vice president of operations, said in an email, without elaborating. Tesla faces a much more crowded field for electric trucks than it did when it introduced its electric cars. Manufacturers such as Daimler AG, Navistar International Corp and Volkswagen AG are joining a host of start-ups racing to overcome the challenges of substituting batteries for diesel engines as regulators crack down on carbon dioxide and soot pollution. Still, manufacturers are mostly focused on medium-duty trucks, not the heavy big rig market Tesla is after. Tesla would need to invest substantially to create a factory for those trucks. The company is currently spending about $1 billion per quarter, largely to set up the Model 3 factory, and is contemplating a factory in China to build cars. Charging and maintaining electric trucks that crisscross the country could be expensive and complex. Shares of Tesla have risen 46 percent this year to make the company the No. 2 U.S. automaker by market value.
  21. You don't need an introduction to the God of Rap music, Marshall Mathers, a.k.a, Eminem, a.k.a., The Real Slim Shady. He's an icon, a legend, a phenomenon and to so many millions, he's a voice of reason—in a very hurried and angered voice. Ever since the release of his iconic track, The Real Slim Shady, back in 1999, which skyrocketed the charts and became an anthem, Eminem has remained the chart-topping, best-selling musician across the world, unopposed. It's hard to miss an Eminem number. That's Slim Shady for you. Pitchfork That same year, when the rap god released the song, ‘Stan' as part of the Marshall Mathers LP, it was but obvious that the song would catch on like wildfire. Instantly, it garnered the number 1 spot in eleven countries, including United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland and Australia. So much so that the word, ‘Stan' even made its way to the Oxford English Dictionary following the song, where it was defined as “An overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity - 'he has millions of Stans who are obsessed with him and call him a rap god.” The Source And so, when Eminem began to perform the popular song at his recent gig at Scotland's Bellahouston Park on Thursday night, the crowd was raging… up until the point where he went and messed up the lyrics to the song. Yep, that happened. Here's what he said: “I read about your Uncle Ronnie too, I'm sorry. I had a friend kill himself over some bitch who didn't want him,”… Then, he fumbled the next line and added, “Ahhh, we gotta run that back.” He picked the song back up before the chorus kicked in. “I like the shit you did with Rawkus too, that shit was phat. Anyways, I hope you get this, man, hit me back, just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan, this is Stan.” YouTube All said and done, though, Eminem held himself with class, just as a Rap God of his stature should. Correction: Just as ‘THE' Rap God should. On that note, let's go listen to ‘Stan' once again?

  23. Name/Author: Suneet Sebastian Can you imagine how you’d feel if you were being bullied in front of your crush while being betrayed by your “friends” at the same time? That’s exactly what happened to me. Growing up, I was always that one kid in my group who was bullied by the rest for no apparent reason. And on this one particular day, my “friends” in my apartment complex were giving me the usual whooping. Except this day, they decided to dump a trash can filled with garbage over my head and kick me over it. I thought things couldn’t possibly get worse. When I took the trash can off, there she was, my crush, a short distance away, watching what was happening. She was my first crush. And I knew from that moment on, I could never look her in the eye again, much less ask her out. I just knew that this had to stop. I promised myself – “Never again” The reason why I thought they bullied me was because I was an easy target with low self-esteem. A fat chubby kid who wasn’t good at anything. I couldn’t run fast and also had zero athletic ability. I was always the kid that got picked last in any team. I felt that if I could somehow change that, then maybe I wouldn’t be bullied anymore. And that was the start of my fitness journey. No other sport appealed to me as much as Basketball. I loved how all the players were so strong, athletic, fast and practically FLEW through the air. That’s who I wanted to be. And so it began. Fast forward a few years and I had made my way up to being one of the top players in my team. And although I wasn’t being bullied anymore; something felt missing. When I looked at myself, I was still the same chubby me, just a few inches taller. I was supposedly an “athlete” but didn’t look, feel or truly perform like one. Not surprising because my diet all through this time was downright TERRIBLE! I was practically addicted to sweets and guzzling soft drinks like there’s no tomorrow. So with this newfound realization, I embarked on my next challenge – weight loss. Now being as uninformed as I was back then; I only ate salads. After all, pretty much everything else had been demonized by the media and “conventional wisdom”. So for two whole months, all I would eat was a small plate containing a few pieces of tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and a bit of lettuce. For lunch and dinner. That’s it! And I paired that with 2+ hours of cardio every day in the form of Basketball. I did lose weight. A lot of it. I lost 18 kgs in those 2 months and was feeling on top of the world! Until, one day during our college fest, someone clicked a picture of me next to some girl. I noticed I looked scrawny compared to her! My arms were even smaller than hers. I realized that I had lost a lot of muscle too! That’s when I entered the gym for the first time in my life and made Google and YouTube my tutors. Quick shortcuts or “tips” on how to transform my body in 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks; whatever that article or video’s claim was. But after trying everything under the sun, I never seemed to get the results they promised and showed. And then one fine day, I came across a flyer that changed my life forever. It was for a fitness seminar held by a man who would eventually become my mentor. In this seminar, he exposed all the nonsense in the fitness industry. All the dieting blunders you could make, all the wrong ways you could be exercising and all the misinformation spread by popular media. He tore them all apart while educating us with scientific facts! The single greatest takeaway was- to ALWAYS ask WHY before trusting any fitness advice. I got agitated at the endless misinformation put out there by gym “bros” and folks on steroids who perpetrated their “gyaan” without an iota of scientific knowledge but were blindly followed by others because of their physiques. Most importantly, I wanted to do for someone else, what my mentor did for me. I wanted to reach out to some other young kid who has the same passion. With such righteous purpose, I started my own website and YouTube channel with the aim to be the single greatest, go-to resource for Scientific and Evidence based information on everything Fitness in India and thus, Sebastian Fitness Solutions was born. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to educate, guide and coach numerous keen fitness enthusiasts. I know I am true to my mission when I receive messages like these. The boy who sent me this message is from Serbia. SERBIA! So that’s my story so far. To sum it up, I’d call it nothing but one hell of a crazy rollercoaster ride. Keep Learning, Keep Growing!
  24. The rumour mill surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S8 has been a steady stream of leaks that has kept us occupied for a while. The device is expected to be unveiled on March 29th, and Samsung’s flagship phone is expected to have some outstanding specs. However, contrary to expectations, a leak from a reputable source was released on Twitter and the first official photos of the phone are now available. They detail some of the specs that are onboard the flagship phone which might not be what you were expecting. VentureBeat reports that Samsung has been working extremely hard to release a flagship phone to compensate for the ill-fated Note 7. As the pictures suggest, the design is fresh, feature-driven and safe, which might make it the flagship phone we’ve all been waiting for. © Twitter Blass elaborates that the Galaxy S8 will be launching with two variants, one of the said phones will have a 5.8-inch screen and the other a 6.2-inch screen. Both devices are rumoured to have super AMOLED displays with a unique 18:5:9 aspect ratio. Most phones in the market today have 16:9 displays making the Galaxy S8 one of a kind. Just like the Galaxy S7, both variants will have Samsung’s Edge display. One can also derive from the pictures that the Galaxy S8 will be equipped with a headphone jack even though many companies are now ditching the analogue port for extra space in the chassis. Since Apple has taken on the decision to remove the headphone jack on iPhone 7, it seems like Samsung is trying to win hearts by including the headphone jack in their forthcoming device. Other rumours suggested that the fingerprint sensor will be embedded beneath the display; however, these latest leaked pictures suggest that the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back of the device similar to other Android phones. The home button has vanished and it has an all-glass front display. According to reports, the hardware specs of Samsung’s upcoming phone look something like this: • Display: 5.8-inch or 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED display • Cameras: 12-megapixel f/1.7 rear camera, 8-megapixel f/1.7 front • Processor: Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos (varies by market) • Storage: 64GB with microSD expansion • Memory: 4GB • Battery: 3000mAh (5.8-inch model) or 3500mAh (6.2-inch model) • Other: Headphone jack, USB Type-C, water resistance Not everything here is good news though. The fact that the phone will have only 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage is very disappointing. It might be the industry standard to have the 4GB/64GB configuration, however, fans and the press were expecting something exciting and groundbreaking much like the One Plus 3/3T. The Galaxy S8 is Samsung’s flagship device, which means it is expected to be a little on the pricey side. The pricing structure for the phone remains shrouded in mystery, however, according to Blass, the phone is expected to retail around $850 for the 5.8-inch model and $950 for the 6.2-inch variant.
