  3. Back when I was in college and studying commerce, I was taught how marketing, as a core business function, held great importance. The reason behind it being, marketing was what decided how well your product would sell, regardless of whether it was good or bad. And it seems like Ola Cabs might just need a little revision on that concept. © Twitter Under ire once again, it looks like the new year hasn’t been shaping up all that well for the cab service company. A couple of weeks ago Ola Cabs were slammed by users for sending them horrifying notifications that read ‘8 Missed calls from Mom’, sending them into an ‘almost’ state of panic. One would think, one fiasco would be enough to learn your lesson and move on. But not Ola, for they have bounced right back with an equally frustrating marketing gimmick, this time sending users angry notifications. What a threatening message I get after waking up from bed. This is the 2nd Scary notification received from ola after #8missedcallsfrommom. Better call S(o)aul if needed before notifying. @Olacabs #oladash pic.twitter.com/GPDDLI8Gru — bavithranokc (@BavithranOKC) April 1, 2022 Ola users have taken to Twitter to share their dissent over Ola’s recent marketing campaign, where users were being sent notifications that read, ‘This is not a joke (insert angry face emoji)’. It continued to say, ‘We keep giving you amazing discounts, but you still haven’t ordered on Ola Dash. No fooling around anymore, get your daily fruits and veggies now.’ Somehow, the marketing team thought that instead of slightly suggesting or nudging the user, it would work better to scold and intimidate them into using their services. Obviously, they were wrong, because folks on Twitter were mighty unimpressed. @OlaDash_In are you really expecting conversion from this type of push notifications? It's Passive agressive, your business team must be in lot of pressure to get some traffic. pic.twitter.com/8JaqTNVRtx — Manjunath (@manjunath_c23) April 1, 2022O@OlaDash_In kindly stop bullying customers - change your spamming activity please pic.twitter.com/r6hiZMtsQK — Ajay Kumar (@jaykumarspj) April 1, 2022क्या है ये??? ऐसे को मार्केटिंग करता है क्या??? @OlaDash_In @Olacabs pic.twitter.com/CrNoZH5H0y — Aditya Singh (@AdityaSinghtm) April 1, 2022#Ola #Oladash #Olacab #Olaapp who the **** do you think you are m*****f**** sending me a notification on my phone saying that this is not a joke with angry emoji!! 4. Mohammad Kaif may not be in association with any of the 10 cricket franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season, but that did not stop him from backing Kuldeep Yadav and voicing the kind of mismanagement he faced whilst being a part of Kolkata Knight Riders till the 2021 season. View this post on Instagram Kaif, the former India batter and an elite-level fielder, knows a thing or two about spotting talent. The 41-year old spent four seasons with the Delhi Capitals, and during his three-year spell between 2019 and 2021, he worked closely with some of the franchise's rising players. Despite the fact that he is no longer affiliated with the team or any other IPL organisation for that matter, Kaif recognises when a skill is underutilised. He commented about one of Delhi Capitals' heroes of the evening, Kuldeep Yadav, as the team got off to a great start in IPL 2022 with a four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Delhi Capitals (@delhicapitals) Rohit Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh, and Kieron Pollard were all dismissed by the left-arm wrist spinner in four overs. This is in stark contrast to last season when Kuldeep was relegated to the KKR's bench and did not appear in a single match. Kaif questioned KKR's treatment of Kuldeep, claiming that given the way the franchise treated him, Kuldeep's bowling and form were likely to plummet. Kuldeep Yadav has expressed his displeasure in clear terms.#IPL2021 #KKR pic.twitter.com/6KrqbnFsiN — Wisden India (@WisdenIndia) June 12, 2021 In a conversation with Sportskeeda, Kaif gave insight into whatever was going on in Yadav’s mind when he was struggling to get a spot within the KKR Playing XI on a daily basis over multiple years. According to the now-retired cricketer, Kuldeep Yadav has a track record of winning matches. However, he is someone who must be well managed. He's a little emotional, and if he doesn't get the bowling or is dropped from the squad, he'll be upset. He was made to sit at home and not even in the team at KKR when Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan were captains. After Capitals’ first match of the season, even the fans agreed with what Kaif had to say and shamed KKR for not recognising Yadav’s greatness. View this post on Instagram Even during IPL 2020, Kuldeep's time with KKR was restricted to just five games, during which he only took one wicket. The fact that KKR did not have faith in Kuldeep's ability was reflected in his performance in India. The chinaman spinner, who was once the backbone of India's spin department in limited-overs cricket and is the only Indian bowler to record two hat-tricks in ODIs, has gradually drifted out of contention for the national squad and even lost his annual BCCI contract. 5. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is all set to get underway on Saturday (March 26) with a blockbuster clash between last year's finalists Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This year, two new teams -- Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans -- will also challenge for the title. Ahead of the 15th edition of the tournament, fans were left shell shocked as former India skipper MS Dhoni stepped down from the leadership role at CSK and gave the captaincy to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Cricket pundits and fans have been analysing every team and picking their favourites to win the title. However former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has ruled out one team that he feels lacks impact players and will not lift the trophy. According to Gavaskar, Punjab Kings, who spent 68.55 crores at the mega auction, do not have any impact players and will struggle to challenge for the title. Lights. Camera. This time, I don't think they have an impact player in their squad but this can benefit the team as well. When there are very low expectations, there is very less pressure and when the pressure is less, the players are freer in their approach," Gavaskar told Sports Tak. "In that aspect, I think Punjab Kings can surprise a few. Will they win the trophy? I doubt that. See, this is a T20 format and you have to be in that consistent cycle of winning," he added. “When the pressure is less, the players are freer in their approach. According to reports, the Fast franchise chose Jason after losing out on Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Dwayne was an integral part of the Fast & Furious franchise, however, he left the series due to differences with star actor Vin Diesel. Earlier, Vin, who plays the role of Dom Toretto had requested Dwayne to return to the franchise, however, to his surprise, Dwayne declined the offer. © Universal Pictures Jason, who recently starred in The Dune, will now join Vin along with the rest of the cast members that including Sung Kang, Chris ‘Ludacris Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Michelle Rodriguez. According to reports, Jason wrapped the shooting of the Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, last year. © Warner Bros He will also star in Slumberland, an epic fantasy that is based on the Winsor McCay comic strip from the early 20th century. Over the years, the grand Fast & Furious movies have been known to bring in big stars with Johnson, Jason Statham, and John Cena, and Helen Mirren already starring in the movies. It is reported that Charlize Theron, who had appeared in The Fate of the Furious, will also be back for the film. So far, it is unclear whether there would be any more big-name additions to the movie. As per reports, Fast 10 will start shooting in the spring with Universal currently setting a 2023 release for the movie. Source: Hollywood Reporter View the full article
  8. Just one day ahead of Republic day, as people get ready to bring in the 73rd Republic Day, they might have been rubbed the wrong way after the big e-commerce giant Amazon came up with tri-color products in the spirit of Republic Day and instead faced severe backlash for it. #BoycottAmazon trends on Twitter as of now, after the e-commerce platform released a variety of merchandise with things like the National Flag and our emblem printed on it. And considering this merchandise went from keychains to shoes to even toilet seat covers, a lot of people lost their sense of humor at its sight. Perhaps, that is why this day and everything to do with it, holds a sentimental value to the people, who ended up getting very offended with Amazon. Showing their anger on social media, several Twitter users also pointed out that Amazon’s choice to sell products with the national flag printed on it went against the Flag Code Of India, 2002. 9. Every time we think we as a whole, as a unit, as a country are taking one step forward, it only takes one mindless action to remind us that we’re also taking two steps back. A realisation that hit us yet again after we came across a circular for a counselling session by JNU on sexual harassment, which made us cringe more than the latest Matrix Resurrections. A circular that was supposed to spread awareness on the matter, ended up doing something completely opposite and counter-productive, considering the only thing it was able to spread was sexism. The circular that has drawn a lot of ire on social media reeked of victim shaming as it said things like, “girls are supposed to know how to draw a tangible line between them and their male friends." JNU's circular on counselling sexual harassment victims causes outrage; students protest https://t.co/cMwqTkSNxR — Republic (@republic) December 28, 2021 This was in accordance with the session on sexual harassment the internal complaints committee (ICC) of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is supposed to host on January 17. The uploaded circular even spoke about how such sessions will be organised on a monthly basis with the intention of making students aware of what consists of sexual harassment. However, after seeing the kinds of things the circular was promoting in the name of spreading awareness, students decided to have none of it and lashed back at them. In today's episode of #victimblaming, "...women are supposed to know how to draw a line between themselves and male friends to 'avoid harassments'." Girls Should 'Draw Tangible Line' to Avoid Sexual Harassment, Says JNU ICC Circular https://t.co/vxP6zjd5Hq via @thewire_in — Shruti Jain (@shrutz01) December 28, 2021 Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh called the statement a ‘victim shaming remark’. She said, “The ICC in JNU makes a blatant victim-blaming remark where it asks 'women to draw a tangible line to not get harassed by their male members'. The ICC time and again in JNU has passed such regressive remarks or conducted itself in a way to moral police the survivor.” Ghosh went on to say, “Such a remark, creates a space where harassment in such lines will become rampant and will lead to become an unsafe space for women.” Meanwhile a lot of people on social meda also called out the JNU circular for perpetuating a victim blaming mentality. Why all the teachings are always for girls only? Time to teach harassers not the victims. The misogynist circular of #JNU should be withdrawn. Internal commattee should have Victim-Centered approach and not otherwise. pic.twitter.com/Z6x4h7L351 — Rekha Sharma (@sharmarekha) December 28, 2021True that. Coming from JNU this is unacceptable. 11. Virat Kohli’s press conference on Wednesday has created a huge controversy in Indian cricket, putting him and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly at loggerheads. While responding to why Kohli was removed from the ODI captaincy despite his stellar record, Ganguly had claimed that the selector didn’t want to have two different captains in the limited-overs cricket. He had also claimed that he had “personally requested” Kohli not to step down from the T20I job in September. This is getting serious between virat kohli and dada Both have opposite words Definitely not a good sign for indian cricket.#BCCI pic.twitter.com/9owZ3jnnBC — Frozen (@ein_scofield) December 15, 2021 However, Kohli refuted having any such conversation with the former India skipper and said that there was no prior communication from the BCCI office bearers or the selectors with regards to the change in ODI captaincy. The Delhi cricketer even claimed that the first time he was informed that his services as ODI skipper would no longer be required was one-and-a-half hours before the selection committee meeting. © Twitter BCCI As per Kohli’s, the chief selector Chetan Sharma had called primarily to discuss with him the Test squad for the South Africa tour and before hanging up the call he was informed that all five selectors had decided that he would not be leading the side in the ODIs anymore. This contradictory statement from the Indian Test skipper has raised many eyebrows and everyone is trying to fathom how Ganguly, who is such an important figure in Indian cricket, can make such a false claim, on not one but multiple occasions. © Twitter BCCI Kohli’s comments have sent shockwaves in the entire Indian cricket community and if reports are to be believed even the BCCI officials are unhappy with the Indian red-ball skipper after his explosive press conference. #NewsAlert | BCCI Vs Virat Kohli: #BCCI now claims that the decision on captaincy was a collective decision and #ViratKohli was kept in the loop. Aruneel with more details. pic.twitter.com/i4wvP0zL44 — TIMES NOW (@TimesNow) December 16, 2021 According to a report in Times Now, despite Kohli directly contradicting Ganguly, the BCCI still maintains that it was a ‘collective decision’ and they had kept the former ODI skipper in the loop from the very beginning. “A change in captaincy is not a small decision and Virat Kohli was kept in loop before the decision was made,” Times Now reported, quoting BCCI sources. © Twitter BCCI After creating a massive uproar, Kohli and his boys have embarked on a new challenge and it would be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming days here in India. Whether the BCCI top brass tries to play down this whole issue by discarding it as a mere misunderstanding or Ganguly & Co. escalate things even more. Whatever the case may be, we just hope that it doesn’t affect the team’s performance in South Africa. View the full article
