  1. Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan, featuring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa, was released recently on Amazon Prime Video. The film, which talks about inherited trauma and infidelity, is receiving mixed response from viewers. While not everyone connected with the plot or subject of Gehraiyaan, everyone must agree that the film has been shot beautifully. View this post on Instagram The movie has been shot at several gorgeous locations, however, the seaside villa, where the characters make frequent trips, is grabbing everyone's attention. Owned by Ananya’s character Tia, the 'Alibaug' property plays an important role in the plot. Well, the Alibaug villa shown in the Shakun Batra-directed film is actually a boutique hotel in Goa named Ahilya By The Sea. i had to replay this scene several times to understand what they were saying or doing because i was too distracted by her beauty. #Gehraiyaan pic.twitter.com/Y4LhgFGTdJ — purni (@purnichauhan) February 13, 2022 Ahilya By The Sea, a beautiful home-turned-boutique-hotel with four individual villas, is located near Goa's Coco Beach. This boutique hotel is a scenic, calm, and private place with lush green gardens, infinity pools, and big suites. It is the sister property of the renowned Ahilya Fort in Central India. The property also has a spa, wellness centre, and a massage facility. On the official website, a description reads, "Tucked away in a quiet corner of Dolphin Bay, Ahilya by the Sea is a serene and private escape. The property’s nine tastefully decorated and welcoming rooms are spread across three independent villas and enjoy two beautiful swimming pools". Coming back to Gehraiyaan, the film has been jointly produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Jouska Films, and Viacom18 Studios. Also starring Rajat Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah in supporting roles, the movie marks Shakun's directorial comeback five years after the release of Kapoor & Sons. View the full article
  2. He is unfiltered, unapologetic, never shies away from putting forth his opinions and steers clear of the privilege that the 'Deol' tag offers him, particularly in his career. We are talking about none other than Abhay Deol here, the man who took his sweet time to carve a niche for himself in the industry, solely based on his acting prowess. View this post on Instagram While most actors were busy ensuring the fact that their box office scores kept soaring, we had Abhay on the other side, churning out meaningful stories with his power-packed performances. He is surely among the rare breed of sorted actors we have in the industry right now. Be it 'Dev D' or 'Aisha' or 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', Abhay has never failed to impress us with his brilliance in his craft. He has come a long way and invested into a beautiful house for himself in Goa in the midst of a forest. Abhay gave a home tour to the team of Asian Paints for their show Where The Heart Is. View this post on Instagram The outskirts of Abhay’s house looks like a greenhouse and the actor called his home a ‘a glass house in the middle of the forest’. He said, “It’s a plot in the middle of the forest. And I really wanted to basically bring the environment into the house. So it is essentially a glass house in a forest." © Asian Paints While giving the tour, he mentioned that he specified to his architect that he doesn’t want windows in the house but large sliding doors. He said. "So my brief to my architect was I don’t want any windows. I want opening doors, of glass, and ceiling so high that if I’m standing and looking at a person, I can’t even see the ceiling. That’s how high I want it." © Asian Paints © Asian Paints The dining area of the house is styled very simplistically. The granite and the dark wooded pattern look both elegant and royal. The house gives a rustic feel with dark granite flooring and wooden elements. His large living room provides a beautiful view of his front garden and the forest behind it. It’s this area where he loves hosting his guests. © Asian Paints © Asian Paints The kitchen of the house is also very minimalistic. Through the kitchen, you can also see the lush garden outside his house which is probably the setting of his home as you feel very close to nature in every nook and corner of the house. © Asian Paints © Asian Paints The house also offers a beautiful swimming pool area. © Asian Paints You can watch the full video of the house here: It’s a dream house if you want to step out of the hustle bustle of your city life. 3. A couple of weeks ago, all of my friends had an elaborate conference call trying to make a plan for New Year’s eve. And while some of us went straight ahead to the idea of an intimate house party, others jumped to the thought of chilling at a beach in Goa. And I wouldn’t lie, I was tempted. Call it bad luck or good, but I fell sick just a week before the New Year and ended up staying in on the big night. Others, however, flew to Goa and landed plum in the middle of what can only be called a breeding ground for Omicron, as thousands of people partied into the night without a mask on. And what’s worse is, most of this crowd includes educated and woke millennials who have conveniently turned a blind eye to the pandemic that had engulfed us for two years. 5. There is no doubt that Manchester United's Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the finest football players to have graced the game in its entire history. View this post on Instagram Ronaldo, along with PSG's Lionel Messi, is considered to be the greatest footballer in the world at the moment and has millions of fans across the world who he continues to inspire on a daily basis. Well, with that in mind, it was recently reported that a large 415kg-weighing brass statue of Ronaldo was installed in Goa to inspire youth to pick up the sport and be better at it. Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's statue installed in Panaji, Goa. To inspire youth &take football to next level in the state, country, we came up with this statue. We want our children to become like this legendary footballer, who is a global legend:Goa Minister Michael Lobo(28.12) pic.twitter.com/KthPHc7ox0 — ANI (@ANI) December 29, 2021 However, soon after the statue worth Rs 12 lakhs was unveiled to the public, Goa came under fire for installing a statue of a Portuguese player rather than that of an Indian footballing legend. "Very disappointed to hear of the statue of Ronaldo being erected. Learn to take pride in our own icons like Samir Naik and Bruno Coutinho," said Ricardo D'Souza, owner of Titos, one of Goa's most popular nightclubs, while speaking with Free Press Journal. It was also reported that during the unveiling ceremony of the statue of the Portuguese forward, some right-wing demonstrators labelled the decision as an 'insult to Goa', with the state celebrating its 60th anniversary of liberation from Portuguese rule that spanned for around 451 years. "To erect a statue of a Portuguese footballer this year is sacrilegious. We condemn this. There are many freedom fighters in Goa who have been insulted. If Lobo wanted to erect 'footballers statues, he should have erected Bruno Coutinho's statue," said a right-wing activist while speaking to Free Press Journal. © Twitter © BCCL © Reuters However, according to Lobo, who set up the statue, it is just to inspire youth and football can't be divided by religion or caste. "This is the first statue of Cristiano Ronaldo in India. This is nothing but to inspire our youth. If you want to take football to another level, then this is what will inspire boys and girls by looking at him, taking selfies with him. People who come to the Cristiano Ronaldo park will be inspired to become like him and play for Goa and India... We want to inspire Calangute, Candolim and the coastal belt villages first, then the rest of India. "There are few people who are opposing this. Looks like they hate football. Football belongs to everyone. It is not divided by religion or caste but still, they are opposing with black flags. Their minds are black. One cannot argue with people who have black minds." said Lobo. People on social media too voiced their opinions on the statue. Still not out of slave mentality. Could have installed Sunil Chhetri's statue. I am not against Ronaldo but statue of a Portuguese player in the capital of Goa is preposterous; that too by a BJP minister — Chinmay Gokhale (@chinmaygo) December 29, 2021Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest player in the football history. 7. Memes and jokes on Goa plans not materializing kept aside, if there is one thing that drives friends and humans to pack their bags to feel the ‘thandi hawa’ of Goa or immerse in some salty water at a beach, then the only thing that comes to my mind is Dil chahta hai. The movie which changed the way we perceive cinema, who gave stories on friendship a new life and put Goa in a beautiful light is DCH. All the credit obviously belongs to the man who conceived the idea - Farhan Akhtar. The director who turned producer then turned into an actor before finally also turning into an artist is a human who can do it all. He was recently performing in Goa and while his song Rock On is obviously a part of song requests, the entire vibe of the show changed when his fans sang Dil Chahta Hai with him. 9. Indian Cinema has given us various types of movies. But a film about zombies like that of Go Goa Gone came as a surprise to everyone. While we are familiar with the same old, white-faced ghosts, this movie, on the other hand, was quite entertaining and satisfying with its ridiculous slapstick humour. © Instagram/Saif_FC Saif Ali Khan's acting in the movie was highly lauded. There isn't much of a story initially, but as soon as the three friends set foot in Goa, everything around changes. Saif makes an appearance late in the movie as a Russian mafia named Borris. His character wears wacky clothes, and the hair is dyed blonde, which Saif essayed spectacularly. © Instagram/Saif_FC Co-creator of the Family Man, Krishna DK, unveiled in an interview that it wasn't tough to convince Saif for the role for the 2013 Zombie movie. Saif liked his character so much that he had an expletive-filled reaction to it while discussing the script. © Instagram/Saif_FC In Sourabh Pant's podcast, Krishna DK also added that he didn't even have to convince Shahid Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee for their roles on Amazon Prime projects. Krishna has been working with his creative partner Raj Nidimoru for quite a long now, and they are known as Raj and DK together. During the podcast, he said, "Go Goa Gone, we had Kunal in mind right from the get-go. And for the role of Saif, we only had to meet him once. And we met him once, gave him the basic idea, and he heard it, and he said, 'Yeh to ch******a hai, Mujhe Karna hai.' He further added that it was effortless for them to convince him. © Eros International Go Goa Gone had a stellar cast including, Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari. The sequel for the movie was announced last year by Dinesh Vijan. He said, "The team of Roohi is writing the sequel. The writer came up with the idea, and I loved it, and then we developed it. Eros said let's announce it and we did. We just need to give every actor, who was there in the first part, a little more like a 2.0 version and bring something new." © Eros International He also added that it wouldn't have the zombie element, but the emotions and comic timing for the movie would remain the same. We can't wait to watch the next masterpiece! View the full article
  10. People are finding new ways to call on people to remind them about the importance of staying home and social distancing in the second wave of Covid. Recently, a small beach village in North Goa, Calangute, was seen spreading Covid-19 awareness in a rather unique manner. While one could see the efforts with public announcements, it was rather laced with some F bombs. The announcement urged people to stay put in their homes with a very catchy jingle. © Instagram/Goaexplore In the video, one can hear an announcement being made with a loudspeaker in a vehicle, decked with Covid-related information. The announcer can be heard singing a unique jingle, saying: “Please help the world get back on track and stay the f**k at home. Stay the f**k at home… Don’t you be a f*****g d**k, stay the f**k at home,” As soon as this video went live on social media, people couldn't help but react to it. There were mixed reactions, as some people expressed their excitement, while a few were rather surprised. One user wrote, “It’s Goa”. Musician Jason Filipe, replied to it and said “The village panchayat of Calangute slapping some sense into people.” Another social media user wrote “Meanwhile in Goa… The village panchayat (governing body) of Calangute does not mince words. This is how we do it…stay the f#*k at home,” However, after all this, the official Calangute village panchayat came forward and mentioned that the driver has apologised for such behaviour. Due to the rising cases, Goa is now under lockdown too to control the spread of Covid-19. Calangute, especially, has gone under self-imposed lockdown, even though the state-wide lockdown concluded on Monday. 11. Karan Johar surely knows how to be in the spotlight. Be it the controversies that he gets mired in, or his fashion choices, the man knows how to grab headlines and eyeballs. © Viral Bhayani Well, he certainly had our attention when he was recently spotted in Mumbai, wearing perhaps one of the most outlandish outfits we have seen this year. © Viral Bhayani Karan Johar was spotted wearing a rather quirky, camouflaged jogger set from Heron Preston, an American streetwear and athleisure label that is known for its bizarre, but uber cool outfits. © Viral Bhayani The upper or the camo sweatshirt that you see Karan wearing here is called the Heron Preston X Ministry Of Defence Camouflage Hoodie, and boy, is it something to behold. It looks as if it was taken straight out of the closet of a park ranger from South Africa, who needs to go on patrols in the savannah, dressed in camouflage. © Heron Preston The only non-conformist bit of the hoodie is the logos and patches that add to the quirkiness of the piece. © Heron Preston The joggers tell the same story. They are sold separately from the hoodie and are called the Heron Preston X Ministry Of Defense Camouflage Sweatpants in Green. The joggers share the same design aesthetics with the hoodie. They too have bizarre tags, patches and labels attached to them. © Heron Preston Given that Heron Preston is considered to be a luxury streetwear brand, their pieces are expensive. The hoodie that we see Karan wearing retails for $746 or Rs 55,000, whereas the joggers retail for 686, or roughly Rs 51,000. That’s a total of Rs 1.01 Lakhs, minus any import or custom duty that you may have to pay for it. © Viral Bhayani Saying that Karan’s co-ord pyjama set is super expensive, would be an understatement. For that amount, one can easily rent a super luxurious villa in Goa for a month and still have enough money left over for a comfortable staycation. © Viral Bhayani But then, what would you expect Karan Johar, to do? He is one of Bollywood’s most eccentric dresses, and definitely one of the biggest brand aficionados in India. All we can say is, way to go Karan! Way to go. View the full article

  13. Say what you will about Karan Johar’s sense of style, he has an avant-garde sensibility when it comes to fashion. It certainly is not easy to put forth one statement outfit after the other, but then again, when has Karan ever shied away from something like that. © Instagram/nikitajaisinghani Well, very recently he was spotted in Mumbai, wearing a ‘basic’ set of hoodie & joggers. Now, normally, a man wearing basic hoodies and pyjamas won’t turn heads. But this is Karan Johar we’re talking about. And man did he turn heads! © Viral Bhayani Karan was seen in a pair of joggers from Gucci, which cost more than most iPhones. Called the Oversize Technical Jersey Jogging Pants, these joggers are priced at $1,150 or just under Rs 85,000. © Gucci The joggers are quintessentially Gucci - a piece that strikes the balance between maximalist motifs with a touch of minimalism. © Gucci We also like the black hoodie that Karan’s wearing. The skull, which is the only motif on the front adds a bit of funky, gothic appeal to it. This is a piece from Palm Angels, Skull-Motif Hooded Sweatshirt, and is priced at $902, or roughly Rs 67,000. © Palm Angels Keen sneakerheads will notice that Karan’s also wearing a rather dope pair of black and red sneakers. They are the Balenciaga Triple S Sneakers in black and red, one of the most sought after sneakers from a luxury brand. And yes, you guessed it right, it is super expensive as well. © Balenciaga These Triple S sneakers are listed at $975 or roughly Rs 72,000 before taxes and duties. Coming back to the main outfit that Karan’s wearing, well, they are sorta perfect as a laidback, effortless outfit to step out in, when you’re loaded. Just to put things in a little perspective, the rent of a luxury villa in Goa is around the ballpark of Rs 1.4 Lakhs a month. Karan’s hoodie and jogger cost Rs 1.52 Lakhs in total. © Viral Bhayani But then, the man is a baller, and a brand aficionado. What else do we expect of him? View the full article

Recently, actor Nafisa Ali Sodhi took to her social media account and shared a video straight from Goa. 18. Beach lovers should already get excited as amid the pandemic we are just unable to travel. But thank god the internet gets us the pictures of the places we were planning to travel to. Neon glow on beaches has been unreal for years and most of us only thought that Bollywood/Hollywood films edit the water and make it look extremely beautiful. But, who knew this could happen in real and we could witness it in Goa? Last, year blue shimmering waves were spotted at Injambakkam and Eliot’s beach in Chennai due to a phenomenon which is called bioluminescence or sea tinkle. And now, a similar experience has been witnessed at Betalbatim beach in Goa. There is a bleak chance of any of us going to Goa and looking at this in reality but these beautiful pictures will suffice the need for now. For people who don’t know, this neon glow is biological and happens by algae bloom of phytoplankton which usually gets disturbed by the waves. Check out the post here- #ExploreIndia Betalbatim beach in #Goa glows in the dark due to a natural phenomenon in which bioluminescent phytoplanktons in the waves emit a bluish glow when disturbed by the waves. The effect on the waters is dramatic. @TourismGoa @incredibleindia pic.twitter.com/vpWgOKehGM — India In Medan (@indiainmedan) November 19, 2020 India In Medan took to Twitter and posted the extraordinary pictures along with the caption saying, “#ExploreIndia Betalbatim beach in #Goa glows in the dark due to a natural phenomenon in which bioluminescent phytoplanktons in the waves emit a bluish glow when disturbed by the waves. The effect on the waters is dramatic.” While we have been canceling plans of going to Goa for years, now the pandemic has forced us to stay indoors. 19. There is one beach getaway which is everyoneâs favorite and we make endless plans but never âactuallyâ go there. Yes, we are talking about Goa! We all have made several plans to go to Goa and ended up canceling it for bizarre reasons. However, now that we are stuck amid a pandemic and canât go on any vacation, we canât deny that we miss our Goa plans. © Unsplash Recently, Goaâs Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar announced that it has re-opened for tourism. This is big news and around 250 hotels in Goa have been permitted to resume operations and take tourist bookings. Manohar Ajgaonkar said, "We have decided to allow domestic travelers to enter Goa from July 2 onwards provided they comply with certain norms.â The decision was taken by the Goa CM Pramod Sawant in a cabinet meeting. © Unsplash So, all you need to do is follow a certain set of rules or you wonât be allowed to enter the state. Here you go- 1. You need a COVID-19 certificate that tells you are coronavirus negative and should be of only the past 48 hours or youâll have to get tested for the same in Goa. 2. Anyone who tests Coronavirus positive would either be sent back or stay in quarantine until their test result is declared negative. 3. Travelers need to pre-book their stay at hotels that are approved by the government to operate amid pandemic. 4. If in case you booked a non-approved hotel, youâll be sent back and the same would be deemed illegal. This news made people on the internet excited to travel but at the same time, the dismally increasing number of Coronavirus cases in India is making people think that this is not a wise step taken by the government. © Unsplash Hereâs what people on the internet have to say about the decision- 2 din phle bol rhethe community transmission going on ....sab milkar pagal bna rhe h public ko â sam (@sam48408142) July 1, 2020 kon karega itna drama.. goa hai america nhi â Ashu (@AshuGain) July 1, 2020 Tbh at the moment no one wants to travel any where â ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ ï¸ (@Spartan_201) July 1, 2020 Lol ground reality is completely different bro.
