  1. Do you think Indiaâs greatest strength lies in its numbers? The truth is far from it. Indiaâs biggest strength lies in the unity and sense of community that Indians share amongst themselves. Regardless of our caste, class or creed, we take pride in being Indians first and thatâs why we saw so many people coming to the rescue of their brethren, particularly members of the Muslim community during the recent Delhi riots. © Twitter Such selfless acts donât go unnoticed and those on the receiving end remember the kind gesture and helping hand others extend towards them. Just like this Muslim groom from Gidderbaha in Punjab, who came up with a very special way of expressing his gratitude towards the Sikh families in Delhi who came forward to give food and shelter to Muslims during Delhi violence. A wedding occurred in Giddharbah where a Muslim groom tied a turban in honor of Sikhs helping Muslims in Delhi riots. The Muslim groom and over 100 plus Muslims in the wedding tied turbans for communal harmony.#DelhiViolance pic.twitter.com/LmprVg0s2y â Reshma Alam (@reshma_alam9) March 5, 2020 Named Abdul Hakeem, he recently wore a turban to his wedding in solidarity with the Sikhs who helped Muslims in Delhi. Even his family and in-laws were supportive of Abdulâs decision and praised him for sending out a positive social message through this act. © Twitter Talking to Tribune, Abdulâs father-in-law said, âMy son-in-law has given a message of communal harmony. A true Muslim is identified not only by his cap but also by his honesty. In the same vein, a true Sikhâs identity is not only his turban, but also his Gursikhi.â These Sikh men in India traveled to show solidarity with Muslim men, in times of growing intolerance in the country. pic.twitter.com/4X22c2RY9v â Amnesty International (@amnesty) March 3, 2020 Itâs true when they say no religion supports hate or violence and Abdul has simply reminded us of the fact that India is so special, because it gives us hope that peace and communal harmony are not utopian concepts. That despite following different faiths, we can be true to the biggest religion - humanity. Our unity and solidarity is the only way forward today and all it takes for us to keep it alive is a little faith in each other and a desire to live together in harmony. View the full article
  2. The countdown is finally over - after a whirlwind of protests, political statements and campaigning, the capital heads in to vote for one of its most important elections of the modern era - deciding whether to keep Arvind Kejriwalâs Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in power, or shuffle Delhiâs political decks for either a BJP or Congress majority. If youâre eligible and sitting this one out though, one family has proven that thereâs literally no excuse to not go and exercise your right to vote. © ANI In an unusual sight, a groom accompanied by his family members took a detour from his wedding for an all important duty - casting his vote. Found at a polling booth in East Delhiâs Shakarpur, they lined up at the busy queues near MCD primary school - men and women of the family dressed in colourful ethnic wear. © ANI Unfortunately for them, however, Twitter was ready with a series of posts - and they were trolled rather relentlessly. One user even predicted that such a photo would arise, Waiting for that overacting couple's photo which will come in wedding attire at polling station ð#DelhiElections2020 #DelhiAssemblyPolls â Toxic Master (@IronDome_) February 8, 2020 While others called them out for âattention-seekingâ. Attention seekers â Chinmayaâ¡ (@ChinmayaR_) February 8, 2020 Photo chapp gayi. Ab office jaoð â Sanjay Gera (@sanjaygera) February 8, 2020Todayâs elections seem to be one of the most important in recent memory, though public opinion seems to be concerned about voter turnout. The figures at 1 PM sat at roughly 19%, with one user by the name of Robin Saini blaming this on a rather amusing cause - the currently underway New Zealand vs India ODI match. The previous 2015 elections saw CM Kejriwalâs AAP lead by a resounding 67-3 victory over the BJP - a feat that the AAP hopes it will trump over their recent work in the capital. Meanwhile, the BJP continues to campaign on the strength of Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs strongman politics, as the Congress party remains an unsure and severely underwhelming prospect in the wake of recent events. After weeks of tense political and social drama, the outcome of today is set to shake the playing fields of Indian politics as we enter the new decade. View the full article
  3. The big fat Indian weddings are only getting bigger and fatter, not just in India but also across the globe. Indian brides and grooms try different ways to make their wedding grand and unique. Recently, a groom made a stunning entrance to his wedding leaving all the guests astonished to another level. According to News18, the groom-to-be Akash Yadav entered his wedding venue by diving from an aircraft at Mexico's Los Cabos. While his guests cheered for him, he made his way into the baraat by gliding down in a parachute. A video of Yadav's entry has surfaced on the internet that shows his entry and guests were reacting to it saying, “How crazy is this?” to which one of the other guests replies, “Look at that,” and that's when he points the camera towards the parachute in the clear blue sky. They laughed and when it quieted down, I said, 'No, I'm serious'. And the rest is history.” The wedding was filmed by UK-based photographer Zohaib Ali who said, “The groom's entry was 'crazy', and it was the first time I saw something like this. It became very difficult for us to shoot the groom's entry but we managed.” "I had no idea people would freak out the way they did. I told my brother that morning as he was waking up that I was skydiving into my baraat and he said 'shut up, no you're not' and went back to sleep. I did it 100 percent for me and the fact that it's gone viral is just icing on the cake,” Yadav added. 4. A bad dance performance can lead to your bride leaving you at the altar. Don't believe us? Well, recently, a bride from UP called off the wedding because the groom broke into a 'naagin dance' before the pheras. Yes, that really happened! According to a TOI report, a bride stopped the wedding right after the varmala was done. Reportedly, the groom slapped his would-be wife when she said that she doesn't want to marry him. The police were called but the families didn't file any formal complaints after the groom's family agreed to return the gifts. © BCCL As per the news report, as soon as the baraat arrived at the wedding venue, the groom's friends asked him to dance and started misbehaving a little. The bride's family tried to get his friends off the dance floor but they started getting aggressive. Subsequently situation became calm when the varmala took place but after that, the groom couldn't contain his excitement and jumped back to the dance floor to do 'naagin dance'. He reportedly fell on the floor and misbehaved in his inebriated state, and looking at the ruckus, the bride decided to call off the wedding and left the venue. Speaking on this, the bride's brother said, “The groom was inebriated and didn't care about anybody during the ceremony. All the pre-wedding ceremonies were complete and whatever happened was just not acceptable. We all are hurt after my sister decided to call off the marriage but we still stood by her decision despite community pressure because we know that she has taken the right decision.” © BCCL SI Vipin Singh (in-charge of the investigation) told TOI, “After receiving a complaint, we immediately arrived at the spot but both the families decided to mutually resolve this issue on the advice of senior community members. The groom has given in writing that they would return the gifts by November 14 and bear the expenses.” Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments section below. View the full article
  5. Shivashish Chanda, a Sports PR Specialist who has worked with clients like Laureus World Sports and FC Pune City, is popular for having one of the more versatile beards. Chanda, who is also a fitness enthusiast and likes to indulge in adventure sports, loves experimenting and changes his beard style every 15 days. Here's what he had to say about what it takes to maintain a versatile beard like his: © MensXP What is your beard story? I never really shaved in the past couple of years. In fact, I don't recall seeing myself clean-shaven at all, it's been a while. Being a man, I feel that the beard is really important to me as it personifies the real me. The feel of having facial hair growth signifies ruggedness and I like that. What is your beard maintenance routine? So, I wash it every day with a regular face wash and this step is sacrosanct for me. Further, I oil it once in a while, and whenever I have a party to go to in the evening, I use a bit of hair wax. Other than that, I trim my beard using a trimmer that has a really good titanium coated blade. When you started growing your beard, did you face any difficulties? Thankfully not, I was blessed with great genes with my dad and uncle. They both have great thick beards. So, I never had any such problems. The trick is to keep experimenting, that's how you grow it the way you want to. © MensXP © MensXP Some beard grooming products that are must-haves according to you. First and foremost, every guy should invest a good trimmer, preferably one with a long a battery life that charges quickly. That makes my life a lot easier. Other than that, I think a beard oil is essential in keeping your beard soft. A beard wax also helps to shape the beard and a beard wash to take care of the beard and the skin underneath it. © MensXP How often do you get compliments for your beard? Usually, when I have an event in the night, I jazz up my beard a little and that's when I get the most compliments. © MensXP A beard style you'd like to try? Sergio Ramos' beard style is iconic and I would love to try that out. What's your opinion on handlebar moustaches? I love them and, in fact, I style a handlebar whenever I have to go to a wedding. As similar or varied as beard styles may be, courtesy the eclectic stylistic evolution across the multicultural stylescape of the nation, every man has his own beard story and a signature aesthetic in which he carries his beard. Short, patchy, long, thick, or full-bodied - beards add a distinctive character and charm to a face, irrespective of how one keeps it. 6. It has been more than a decade since the trash talking, middle-finger raising, beer-drinking, hell-breaking, Texas Rattlesnake, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin made an entry to a pro-wrestling ring to the sound of shattering glass (discounting all the guests appearances he has made since his retirement) but the spirit of Austin 3:16 lives on in the hearts of millions and millions of the wrestler's fans who grew up watching him chugging on Budweisers and hitting his opponents with the Stunner. Austin's charisma is unbeatable and even after so many years of him hanging up his boots, people want to be like him and even want to make his gimmick a part of their happiest occasions. Here's this lad, Danny White who entered his own wedding with Steve Austin's entrance music playing in the background while guzzling down on a couple of cans of beer. Soon after, the groom to be, locks his target on his friend who was apparently his groomsman. Dodging a botched arm swing by his buddy, White turns around, kicks him in the torso and sends him flying with a 'Stone Cold' Stunner to the chin. Haha share this video! #xrp wedding time stone cold steve Austin pic.twitter.com/EgVnUr5bmC — Steve (@fortch15) March 31, 2019 While all of this was obviously staged and despite the beers being real, the two friends initially looked in control, the falling groomsman was unaware of a woman standing next to him. Falling on her knees, the guy swept her off her feet, causing her to crash on the ground like falling timber. Giving credit where it is due, the lady quickly got to her feet, brushed away the dizziness, picked up the horrible actor of a groomsman, and disappeared into the confused crowd who saw the whole thing unfold in front of their eyes. From raising funds, donating their salaries to cancelling their wedding reception to donate money; people are doing everything possible to show that they stand strong with the jawans' families. © instagram Another such moving gesture came from this Meerut groom, who paid his respect to a Pulwama martyr in an emotional and heartbreaking way. The groom, while heading to his wedding, stopped his baraat midway and got down from his horse, to salute the funeral procession of martyr Ajay Kumar. The picture was shared by Harsh Goenka, Chairman of the RPG Group, who posted the picture on social media which has since gone viral. He wrote, "Meerut's bridegroom dismounts his horse and the baraat stops to salute the funeral procession of Martyr Ajay Kumar. We too salute our martyrs. We will not let their sacrifice go waste." Now, how far are you willing to go to ensure that when your team calls you, your presence is ensured? Turns out Ridvan a player of FIFA Manjeri, which is a team in Kerala's Malappuram 7s league, was ready to give it all and probably thought he could get Hermione Granger's time turner when he decided to get married and play football for his team on the same day! © talksport So, when duty called and Ridvan had to choose between getting married and playing for FIFA Manjeri, he decided to take a short 5-minute break, excused himself from the ceremony and went ahead to play for his team and even won the match. 9. In what happens to be one of the most memorable day in a person's life, a young groom and would-be husband was met with a strange twist of fate. On the day of the wedding, his wedding procession which consisted of 80 people at the beginning of the journey, was cut by 1/4th by the time it reached the wedding venue. The culprit behind this twisted change of events was the incessant snowfall in the area. North India has been facing the wrath of a cold wave over the past week, so on Friday when Rajnish Kurmachali's wedding procession reached Makku Math in Rudraprayag for the wedding, there were only 25 guests with him. © Hindustan Times What's more, all these 25 people wedding guests enthusiastically walked across a stretch of 6 kilometres on snow-laden roads, to reach Makku Math from Triyuginarayan village, where the groom's family lived. According to a HT report, when the groom's family found that roads were blocked due to excessive snowfall, they decided to only send those members of the family who were required to perform the wedding rituals, and the others stayed back. All along the journey, the children in the procession kept playing in the snow and had an amazing time together. © Thinkstock Images The groom's brother, Ashish Gairola, told HT that, “we had seen a wedding procession like this in 2002 and now this was the next one. People will talk about this procession and the wedding for years as in both the weddings the groom was an army jawan”. We presume that this wedding shall be memorable to one and all for many other reasons too. The wedding procession had a great time making their way to the wedding, and were all smiles to be part of such a unique wedding. © Thinkstock Images Talking to HT, Bijay Lal, head of Triyuginarayan village, said, “Even I had to go to the wedding but we were all stuck due to the snow. But those who went enjoyed the whole journey and the wedding took place without any problem.” We are sure that the bride and her family must have been super glad and excited by their efforts, who took the decision to make this wedding a success, and a memorable experience for all those involved.
  10. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who got married on November 14 and 15 in Italy's Lake Como, seem to have forgotten to hang up their party shoes as they rang in their third (including sister Ritika's bash) wedding reception last night at Mumbai's Grand Hyatt. The party was hosted for their close friends, family members and a section of media. © Viral Bhayani The livewire of Bollywood aka Ranveer Singh is, hands down, the life of any and every party he attends and last night's wedding reception wasn't any different either. 11. For those of you thinking that the DeepVeer phenomenon is over, we got news - it's not. Their Mumbai reception, the one with friends and family, just took place, and the couple looked straight out of a Greek Mythology set. That white and gold radiance is giving fans the time of their lives, and everyone is shook. However, what we want to focus on is Ranveer. Remember all the ghagra and lehenga memes doing the rounds on the internet? Well, let's just say the trolls picked the wrong guy to mess with. Ranveer legit wore, wait for it, a Ghagra to the reception, and rocked the f*** out of it! Take a look. 18. It's the D-Day, and naturally, the entire country has been waiting for a single glimpse of the mega wedding with bated breath. As camera friendly as Ranveer and Deepika are, the fact that they would actually go-for rock-solid privacy in terms of sharing pictures is quite understandable, yet surprising. They do love their fans, but which couple won't want their wedding pictures to be perfect? So they made the wedding a 'phone-free zone', and requested all the guests to only share pictures which are bride and groom pre-approved. Anyway, the guests clearly are well-behaved, and didn't indulge in any sneaky phone camera action. However, we finally have the first round of official pictures. Take a look. 19. Musicians often struggle hard to move beyond a specific image - one that has to have loose T-shirts and bushy hair - an aesthetic that's strictly about 'the substance' inside, and a little bit about superficial 'coolness', which honestly doesn't fit the bill when it comes to being 'cool'. Our homie Nikhil Maira was going through the exact same struggle, and he just couldn't move beyond his baggy T-shirt and a rough Afro. However, that was before he decided to get in touch with the 'Groom Barabar Groom' team. © MensXP Host Siddharth Batra along with celebrity stylist Anisha Jain and designer Kunal Rawal appreciate challenging ventures, and they gleefully took on the challenge of giving Nikhil a makeover that consists of stylish, layered outfits, and no T-shirts - one that his mother will be proud of. © MensXP They urged Nikhil to embrace layers and colours that he never experimented with before, and picked out some super cool outfits for him. © MensXP Once the sartorial struggle was over, it was time for Nikhil to address the elephant in the room - his Afro. Celebrity hairstylist Rod Anker got to it immediately and gave him a sleek haircut that did wonders for his new wardrobe, without taking away from his 'musician vibe'. © MensXP The person who emerged through the other side was confident, happy, and fashionable beyond measure. We've seen multiple grooming and makeover shows for women over the years, but none for men. MenXP wishes to change that. Now more than ever, men are more up-to-date with all the latest trends when it comes to grooming products or the latest fashion. On the other end of the spectrum, a majority of them don't know where to even begin. With Groom Baraabar Groom, MensXP wants to create India's first male-focused makeover show that along with being a masterclass in everything fashion and grooming, will provide a safe space for underconfident guys to overcome their self-perceived shortcomings. Some of these guys might not even know the reason for years of self-doubt in them that we might have a very simple solution for. From a much-needed haircut to hygiene routines like pedicures, styling based on the body type (short, tall, skinny, overweight), fashion and grooming advice and a little note on improving self-confidence to finally the big reveal -- our show is more about breaking self-inflicted notions of physical shortcomings rather than a superficial makeover. MensXP wants to change the grooming game in India with this show.
  20. Asking for dowry is an offensive crime in India, yet almost every other day, we hear stories of women getting harassed for refusing to give dowry. Despite living in the 21st century, people continue to give in to the archaic practice of demanding dowry from the bride's family. While most people succumb to the pressure, there are some who bravely fight for what's right and teach a lesson to those who demand dowry. This is one such instance from Lucknow, where a bride's family members, reportedly, partially shaved the head of the groom, his father and brother. Facebook (for representation) According to the bride's family, the groom's family started making demands five days prior to the wedding and continued to increase the demands every day. According to a report in NDTV, the groom's grandmother said, "They made these demands five days before the wedding. He refused to marry the girl after we said we can't meet his demands. 22. So it is your friend's wedding and of course you want to present a gift that he will remember for years to come and perhaps even tell his grandchildren about. We have all been through similar situations ourselves, when we have picked our brains for the longest time to come up with 'hatke' gift ideas for a friend's wedding. © maxpixel The same thought seems to have struck a bunch of groom's friends in Tamil Nadu and they came up with the most epic idea for what to gift their friend. In the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu a young man and his newly wed wife were greeting guests when the groom's friends came in bearing a gift of a lifetime for their dear friend - a can full of five litres of petrol. Why, you ask? Read on to find out. © Twitter Petrol prices in the state of Tamil Nadu have touched Rs 85.15 per litre and this transformed the fuel into a valuable commodity, worthy of being presented as wedding gift, the friends claimed. The incident was first reported by the Tamil TV channel called, 'Puthiya Thalaimurai' through a 39-second video clip, and has since made it to the top news of the day. © Maxpixel Right when “No Gifts Please” is slowly picking up pace in the Indian wedding scene, this unexpected yet useful wedding gift is something that even the groom couldn't have said no to. We feel that is such a thoughtful (and different nonetheless) gift to present someone, especially when the fuel prices in Tamil Nadu happen to be one of the highest in the country. We reckon this gift would have surely won a few hearts and a ton of laughter at the wedding!
  23. Of all the things that the nation wants to know, one question that has perpetually occupied one of the topmost spots is: 'When is Bhai getting married?' Well, if you were to take his interviews as the source for a possible answer, good luck. But, rejoice, for something finally happened that will help his fans dig out a probable silver lining, that might just satiate a small part of what they have been looking forward to. Salman Khan just walked the ramp as the showstopper for Manish Malhotra, and we finally have seen a glimpse of what he'll look as a groom. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani Salman wore a statement black Bandhgala that has been adorned with crystals along the neckline and the button-up area. Beautifully incorporated as part of a layered outfit in the truest sense, the black linen Bandhgala boasts of velvet borders along the cuffs, and a royal maroon piping. © Viral Bhayani The top piece has been paired with a black Pathani kurta pyjama, that is just the perfect accompaniment. The volume of the pyjamas is perfectly complementing Salman's broad frame. © Viral Bhayani When it comes to footwear, he has chosen to wear a super elegant pair of black shoes with golden tips, which is just the perfect melange of royalty and sophistication. © Viral Bhayani Salman's classy black overalls is perfectly complementing Katrina's shimmery cedar gorgeousness in all its glory. The silver crystal detailing in both of their outfits is legit 'wedding outfit goals', tbh. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Salman later took his Bandhgala off, revealing the black Pathani - which we feel is a perfect outfit, style and comfort-wise, for when the time comes to hit the dance floor. Talk about a functional outfit! © Viral Bhayani All we can say is this, classic Indian ethnic look suits him incredibly well, and he should experiment on these lines more often. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Well, at least now we know how he is probably going to look like a groom. Could he actually be considering it, though? We'll find out soon.

  25. Sonam ki shaadi is the next best thing to happen to the internet after Virushka and Taimur. The Indian internet is having a collective orgasm looking at the pictures of drop-dead gorgeous celebrities dancing in their designer dresses and washboard abs. The most fashionable diva of Bollywood is getting married. All eyes are on the A-list stars and, of course, the much-in-love couple. While Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Dhawan dance away their blues, Swara Bhaskar looks stunning in Indian wear. Karan Johar poses with a half-smile which he claims is the new pout. Our Insta feeds are full of Sonam, Swara Bhasker, Anil Kapoor, Karan Johar, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, and anybody who is somebody in Bollywood or its extended family. © Instagram_tagposttweet Amidst all this, you spot a shy Anand Ahuja manoeuvring through Bollywood celebrities who are cheering him on, for he is the star of the show today. Anand is an affluent businessman, the owner of a successful fashion label, but unlike the Kapoors, he is not used to living his life in the limelight. Being a second-generation Bollywood family, the Kapoors are well settled in their celebrity status now. And Sonam, of them all, takes to the camera like fish to water (even if there is some struggle, it doesn't show) – she is chirpy, she is goofy, she is living her Punjabi wedding. © Instagram_the high.liter Dancing with her henna-ed hands flung in the air, she pulls in her groom by the arm, egging him on to shake a leg. Anand obliges with the characteristic awkwardness of a groom aware of all eyes on him. Maybe he is not a dancer, maybe he is just shy. It's difficult to miss, the awkwardness, especially when contrasted with Sonam's exuberance. You instantly identify with Anand. He is all of us at a family function when you don't know your relatives well enough to go crazy on the dance floor but you have to oblige them because they force you to. “I got you baby...” #SonamKiShaadi #everydayphenomenal @sonamkapoor @anandahuja A post shared by iDiva (@idivaofficial) on May 8, 2018 at 1:37am PDT If you have been to any Indian wedding, you know all too well how it works. Ask any friend who has recently been married and he will confess he still sees the wedding photographers in his dreams asking him “Sir, smile pleeese.” He is still using BoroPlus on the corners of his lips that cracked under the weight of the obligatory shaadi ka ladoos that were stuffed into his mouth by the chachis and mamis he never knew existed. © Instagram_sonam.ki.shadi We have seen the mehndi, sangeet and shaadi looks of almost everybody from the Kapoor clan. We know what Janhvi, Khushi, Shanaya, Arjun Kapoor wore, but we have forgotten what Anand flaunted. It's almost as if he is a best man at his own wedding. It's Veere di wedding and Sonam is the veera while Anand the best friend. Sorry Anand, the Indian public will always be obsessed with Bollywood and we are no different. Considering the vivacious charm of Sonam Kapoor, we are sure you don't mind. WE wouldn't. Of course, it doesn't matter because the couple is very much in love and they are two sensible individuals who have handled their relationship in a very mature fashion. As a matter of fact, Anand's shy awkwardness is as disarming as Sonam's childlike exuberance. It's a perfect match.
