  1. If there were to exist a guide book titled 'The Ultimate Trick To Be The Best Employee', an age-old, unsaid directive to be found sporadically in the book would be to work overtime and therefore 'get noticed' for working long and hard (regardless of how inaccurately that might describe what you do 'after hours' at work). For years, something along the lines has been drilled into our heads that working long hours at work automatically translates into working more, and therefore earns you extra points for that promotion you're eyeing. © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment But guess what? A recent study conducted by a Canadian research company claims that working late will earn you a lot more than a good appraisal and early promotion. It will only escalate your chances of falling prey to hypertension aka high blood pressure. Well, that's quite a hefty price to pay to get into the good books of your manager, won't you say? Reports have shown that hypertension is one of the leading causes of more than 82,000 deaths every year in America alone. Even the findings of the study reiterate the fact that working hours do affect an individual's health. Compared to those who worked less than 35 hours a week, the study found that working 49 or more hours makes the latter bunch susceptible to high blood pressure by 70 per cent! © Excel Entertainment Now, given that you can recall what basic biology lessons taught us, high blood pressure means that a person is more vulnerable to suffer a stroke, get a heart attack or even a heart failure for that matter besides losing their vision, or suffering from a kidney or sexual dysfunction! Now, these surely are matters of great concern and shouldn't be taken lightly. Akshat, who is currently working with an Australian MNC in Gurgaon, has been putting in extra hours at work for a long time, and though he says he hasn't got much to lose, he did have some health concerns on more than a few occasions. © Yash Raj Films Why is it then that we continue to push ourselves, and bring our body to the edge by working long hours? Current trends across the corporate sector shows that performance and results have taken precedence over staying back at work to clock extra hours. Instead of doing any good, nowadays it is often seen as inefficiency to stay back after working hours to finish the job. Since time is of the essence nowadays, it is expected that employees will perform to their full potential within the allotted time, so as to not only save the company's resources but also get things done in time. © Yash Raj Films Even the mindset of team managers has already undergone necessary changes to further this work culture within their teams. Many managers now evaluate their team members' true worth based not only on their extra hours at work, but instead the performance and result they yield in the long run. So, perhaps it's time that we revisit and revise our future strategies to get that promotion and/or appraisal without putting our health (and life) on the line. Because no matter what others tell you, nothing is truer than the fact that 'jaan hai to jahan hai'. View the full article
  2. There's no denying the fact that a full head of luscious thick hair does work wonders for men. Unfortunately, not every one of us won the lottery when it comes to genes. And thanks to the ever-worsening condition of our surroundings, be it because of pollution, or the high chemical content in our food and water, we men are facing an uphill battle. © iStock There's only so much you can do to stop or reduce hair fall(https://www.mensxp.com/grooming/hairstyle/54424-how-to-stop-reverse-hair-fall.html). There will come a day when you just can't keep up. What happens then? © iStock Well, fret not, because even if you lose all your hair from your head, there are tons and tons of ways to looks dapper, sophisticated and jaw-droppingly handsome. © iStock A few nifty and easy to maintain beard styles surely do the trick: 1. The Classic Goatee © IMDb The goatee has been developed with a number of variations over the years, but trust us, nothing beats the classic. Easy to maintain, and even easier to get it done all by yourself, a classic goatee is one of the easiest ways to amp up your style game. Works well on most face shapes and body types. 2. The Full Grown, Salt & Peppered © Instagram/therock Man, is there anything that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson can not pull off? We think not. A full-grown beard that has a generous amount of greys in it surely looks dapper. The best thing about this style is that it works on a number of levels, and can be sported by people who have patchy growth as well. The beard style is best suited for men who are built like a tank and have generous proportions. 3. The Stubble © IMDb The beard style with the least bit of maintenance needed, basically, anyone can grow a stubble. It looks really well if you still have some traces of hair on the sides of your head, so if you've just started to go bald, do consider this one. Just keep in mind that this beard style looks a tad bit better on men who have a thin and leaning build. 4. The Unruly, Unkept, Gruffy Beard © IMDb On the surface, it may seem shaggy and untidy, but if done right and if maintained properly, the Gruffy beard has the potential to set a number of people swooning, we kid you not. A beard style that works well for just about anybody, the unkempt gruffy beard, or at least some versions of it, have been doing the round for quite some time and does not seem to be going away anytime soon. © Reuters 5. The Van Dyke © Reuters Okay, this is where things start getting a bit fancy. A Van Dyke, may seem a little too posh and it probably is, but there's no denying the fact that it is a great style. If not anything else, it is a great conversation starter. Since it is so zany and quirky, almost anyone can go for something like this. An added benefit is that the beard says a few things about the one who dons it - that the person is meticulous, particular, and appreciates a bit of finesse, some great qualities indeed. 3. As much as we would like to get a bespoke suit, visiting a tailor, getting yourself measured up and then wait for the mastercraftsmen to stitch up the suit is not exactly an option. That's because for most Indian men, getting a new suit is almost always a last-minute thing, given how we tend to procrastinate on shopping. © iStock What happens then is that we just pick something up, off of the rack, wear the readymade suit for whatever event or gathering we bought it for, pack it and stow it away, and call it a day. Not what should be the ideal way to go about things, but not a bad option either, especially considering how really good bespoke suits are often astronomically priced. © Instagram/nikitajaisinghani All this being said, there are issues with readymade suits, and they mainly pertain to the fittings and how the suit actually drapes over your body. The perfect suit should have a silhouette of its own, and yet, should conform to the contours and built of your body. All this while, it should also be as comfortable as a set of pyjamas, without looking like one. © iStock Here are a few nifty tricks and tricks that you should keep in mind when you are browsing the racks for your next suit. Trust us, these will definitely help you to pick something up that makes you look like a gentleman. Almost like Bond: 1. The Shoulder Test © Instagram/ishabhansali Simply lean against a wall, and observe if the shoulder pads hit the wall before your shoulder and start scrunching up. If it does, look for something else, and do consider switching brands. Ideally, your shoulder pad and shoulder should hit the wall almost simultaneously. If the shoulder pads are too thick, the suit looks very ill-fitting and can get uncomfortable at times, especially as you move about. 2. The Hug Test © Instagram/nikitajaisinghani This is actually one of the simpler tests out there, and applies to any buttoned piece that you wear for the upper half of your body, be it shirts, cardigans, and jackets. Button up your shirt as well as your suit all the way up and try to hug someone, or create a concise circle with your arm. If you start feeling your clothes restraining you or making you feel like the Hulk just about to burst out of his clothes, go for a size up, or a more relaxing fit. 3. The Nervous Collar Test © iStock Although this works mainly for shirts, this works really well with blazers, coats and other stuff, which have a stiff collar. Once you have buttoned up all the way, just insert your index finger between the collar, and your neck, and move it around the curve. Your finger should fit right in, without causing any pressure your neck. If it moves too freely, you need to pick something that has a more snug fit, whereas if you feel uncomfortable even for a tiny bit, go for a size up. 4. The Handshake Test © iStock When making clothes off-the-rack, most manufacturers tend to follow the policy, one size fits all. The downside is some really weird measurements are cut out. The most common area, that this happens in a suit. is the hole around your shoulder and armpit. Just extend your arm as if you are about to shake someone's hand. If your shoulders prop up, look for a better fitting suit. 5. The Curled Finger Test © Instagram/ishabhansali Finally, we have this gem of a test that helps you find the right length of the jacket or the blazer that you are going for. Simply relax your arm while it is down and curl up your fingers as if you are about to pick up a bucket. Place the fingers beneath the hem of your suit. If the hem is just barely touching the furthermost part of your palm, you have your perfect length. Anything else, any bunching up or gaps, look for a suit whose jacket is a bit longer. 4. Stress seems to have become that uninvited guest in our life, who has not only made an unwelcome appearance we less than appreciate, but has also decided to overstay beyond their assigned time limits. We say 'assigned' because sadly for us, over the past decade, stress has become more like an inherent factor overshadowing our lives both personally and professionally. Consequently, most of us have come to expect and accept a “little bit” of stress to become a part of our lifestyle. While the aforementioned stance is debatable on many levels, what we can no longer argue upon is that stress has, in fact, slowly and steadily crept into and taken over our lives, rendering it mirthless and massively painful. The factors propagating stress differs from person to person and since tackling those here wouldn't be much of a help, we decided to bring you 5 ways to bust the stress by engaging each of the five senses. Please note that for some, any one sensory-based solution might work while for others it can be more than one or even all five that do the trick. 1. Sound: The ASMR Technique Short for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, this trend became popular in 2010 and is understood as a relaxation technique used to initiate sedative sensations in an individual's body predominantly by the means of sounds such as whispers and crackles. Try This: Put on your headphones, turn off/dim the lights and close your eyes while you play the sounds on your phone or laptop, letting the sounds take over your mind. 2. Sight: Visually Satisfying Videos Now, this can be divided into a number of categories depending on what appeals best to you. The idea is to look for visually gratifying loops or even compilations that limit your thought cycles to a minimum pace by holding your attention, making you calm and happy. Try This: Look out for dog videos or satisfying video compilations that can pull you right in and calm your nerves. 3. Smell: Nostalgia Infusing Scent Yes, you read that just right. If you're wondering what we mean by that, then all you need to do is get hold of a scented eraser and take a sniff. Does it bring back a lot of happy memories from school? Exactly, that's the plan - pick out scents that remind you of happy memories and surround yourself with it. Try This: Be it a particular scented candle you light at home or a scent of incense stick that reminds you of home or even the attar your dadi used to light, carry that scent with you. 4. Touch: Feel Your Way To Calmness In case you're curious how this one functions, then you must know that we're talking about getting your hands dirty and digging into this activity. It's pretty similar to something you may have done in junior school, but only fancier. Knead and squish your way through kinetic sand, play dough or slime and feel all the stress leave your body through your fingertips. Try This: Get your hands on any of the above and don't hesitate to get your hands dirty. Cut, slice, squish or knead, do whatever works for you. ðð½ @sand.tagious ðð- - - #metalicslime #fishbowlslime #crunchyslime #oddlysatisfying #candymaking #slime #metalicslime #glossyslime #clearslime #slusheeslime #kineticsand A post shared by Daily Satisfaction (@xan.slime) on Aug 30, 2018 at 11:53am PDT 5. Taste: Treat Your Palate This one is a no-brainer and works on 99% of the population, provided you make the right choice. Though food is predominantly related to the sense of taste, it is also only one such option that engages multiple senses all at once. Thus, the choice specifically needs to be such a comfort food that instantly makes you salivate and happy. Try This: Treat your taste buds with a meal cooked by your mom or order that one meal that you'd gobble up even on your deathbed, and with every conscious bite you'd experience the stress leave you one foodgasm at a time. There you see, now that you know of this stress buster method, do make sure to try them out next time you feel “a little” stressed.
  5. The box office is all set to witness a string of blockbuster films this June. With the release of 'Veere Di Wedding', 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero' and 'Phantom', the month has already started on a high note. 2018 has been a great year for Bollywood so far, with movies like 'Padman', 'Padmaavat', 'Baaghi 2' and 'Raid' making big bucks. It was amazing to see even average budget movies like 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' and 'Hichki' impressing the viewers with its fresh concepts. May proved to be an awesome month with movies like 'Raazi' and 'Parmanu' throwing light on stories that we had never heard of. And now, after watching these intense movies, it's time to start this month with a bang as it has entertainment written all over it. June 2018 has some great movies lined up and here's a list of the ones which should be on your must-watch list: Veere Di Wedding (1 June 2018) With all the buzz around this movie, we bet there is no one who isn't curious to know what the story is all about. Promoted as #NotAChicFlick, this movie stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in the lead roles. The movie revolves around four friends attending the wedding of a close friend from within the group. The script brings in different layers and emotions, showcasing four different journeys. The movie has already hit the theatres today and you can catch it over the weekend. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (1 June 2018) Vikramaditya Motwane's vigilante drama 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero' is not your regular Bollywood superhero movie, which makes it a must watch. The trailer had left many impressed with its concept. The movie highlights the serious issue of corruption prevalent in Indian politics. It can be termed as a superhero/revenge drama, where Harshvardhan Kapoor will be seen trying to avenge the death of his friend, who was killed by a politician for his own nefarious reasons. Weaving the tale of a vigilante who fights corruption in a kick-ass style, this movie is edgy, dark and gives you a sliver of hope that this could bring about a change to the face of B-town's superhero films. Phamous (1 June 2018) There are chances that you might have not even heard of this film, but with a cast like Jimmy Shergill, Kay Kay Menon, and Mahie Gill, the movie does sound promising indeed. Directed by Karan Lalit Bhutani, the movie is a romantic/crime drama that deals with the power struggle between four main characters in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. The plot and the concept seem to be interesting and different compared to main-stream films, but with huge movies like 'Veere Di Wedding' and 'Bhavesh Joshi' releasing alongside 'Phantom', we wonder if people will even give this movie a chance? Maybe word of mouth will do wonders for this movie? Kaala (7 June 2018) Though this is not a Bollywood movie, the Hindi dubbed version of this Rajinikanth-starring film makes it to our list for all the right reasons. Thalaivar's latest movie shows him as the saviour of the masses. The gangster-drama is the story of Kaala Karikaalan, who is a local favourite in the Dharavi slum. He will be seen fighting Nana Patekar, a corrupt politician who has no qualms about eliminating anyone who gets in his way. We can already expect some whistle-worthy dialogues and jaw-dropping action sequences, given it's a Rajinikanth movie. Race 3 (15 June 2018) When a movie stars Salman Khan, it goes without saying that it becomes one of the most anticipated films of the year. Starring Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Saleem, and Freddy Daruwala, 'Race 3' is the perfect family entertainer, which is set to release this Eid and Bhai's fans are more than excited to watch it. High on octane action sequences, this movie, however, has become a joke on social media for various reasons. But still, when a film stars Salman Khan, it is bound to mint money and enter the 100 crore club, even though it makes no sense at all. We only hope that Bhai doesn't destroy the 'Race' franchise. Sanju (29 June 2018) The trailer of the movie has left almost everyone waiting with bated breath to see and hear the unseen story of Sanjay Dutt. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, the movie is a biographical drama based on the life of the controversial Bollywood actor. Fondly known as Sanju Baba, Dutt's story has different shades to it. From the trailer, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the man has seen and experienced more than one can ever think of in a lifetime, which makes his story extraordinary. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala and Sonam Kapoor in key roles.
  6. Well, everybody wants to succeed in life and look for inspiration that could help them achieve success, but at times we need to see it from the other side of success as well. Sometimes, things are as they are and you can not afford to look at the positive side of things. Here are a few examples why we fail and what we can do about that. 1. Spend time with toxic people © AZ Quotes When you spend time with someone who drinks every day, you drink every day. When you spend time with people who abuse, you start abusing as well. When you spend time with someone who always loses money, you start losing money as well. I won't say it is not your fault or some supernatural power is causing you all this but this how your brain actually responds to things around. Science has proved that people near you have the power to change your innermost beliefs. The same goes for when you are in good company, you pick up their good habits. 2. Giving advice to someone People don't actually want advice. It is just that they don't know it yet and thus often waste your and their own time as well. We always know what we want to get or do but we look for more assuring answers from others. If you still want to share something tell a story, your story or someone's else story, but refrain from giving any advice as people often do what they want anyway and you do not want to later get blamed if things turn out the way you advise them to be. 3. Taking other people's advice The same thing goes for taking advice from other people. If you want to be a journalist or a novelist, start writing; don't wait to get assurance from other people. You want to be a philosopher, then start learning, don't wait for others to encourage you for that. You always know what you need to do, so just do it anyway. You may win or fail but you will at least have tried it yourself. 4. Underpromise and overdeliver Overpromising and under delivering is a common mistake that you shouldn't do but it doesn't mean you should start under promising and over delivering yourself to compensate that. It is an absolute lie. If you do so you would be lying to yourself in the first place. If you can get something done in one month but for the sake of saying you tell them you will do it in two months and still do it in one month, then it is lie you tell to yourself. That is pretty immature. Don't you think so? Instead what one can do is over promise and over deliver. Won't that be a right metric to start with? 5. Gossiping all the time © IZ Quotes Gossiping is like an addiction that we often indulge in. It gives temporary pleasure. It could be your habit to kill the time, express your jealousy but nothing else. The more you gossip the more garbage you take in to ruin your mental health and behavior as well. You don't always need to be speaking to fill the gap in a conversation. Be calm and silent if you know you don't have anything specific to talk, it is far better than bitching about people and things just for the sake of continuing a conversation. 6. Not seeking deeper meanings in life People may advise you to stop looking for deeper meanings in life but if you do so, would you have relationships worth having or life worth living? Your boss may want you to take up the new project, that's a good reason to cheer up. The real reason might be he wants you out of the company by giving you an impossible deadline. It is not necessary it would always be a bad thing but it is your duty to find out the deeper meaning of an action or words. 7. Surrendering your self-esteem If you are in a relationship where your partner is making you feel pathetic and you know it but still choose to stay in that relationship that means you have surrendered your self-esteem to him or her. It is better to stay out of such toxic relationship or if you are in one try to get out asap. 8. Make excuses © MensXP Making excuses is like trying to find a short-term solution to a long-term habit. And why not? Why would one not be prone to it when it comes in so handy? It is like our temporary armor to deal with an attack. We make different excuses for reaching office late even though it is not the traffic or anything else, it is just our own behavior that we are trying to hide.
  7. Russia has promised to look after Arsenal fans when the Gunners play CSKA Moscow MOSCOW: Russia has issued a security guarantee to Arsenal fans who will visit Moscow for a Europa League clash in the heat of a diplomatic crisis over an ex-double agent´s poisoning. Moscow on Saturday announced the expulsion of 23 British diplomats in a tit-for-tar response to London´s "provocative" measures over the nerve agent attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter in England. Britain issued a travel warning to people in or planning to travel to Russia after expelling the same number of Moscow diplomats on Wednesday. And Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday said it was "overwhelmingly likely" that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered the attack. The Kremlin called his comments "shocking and unforgivable". All of which has left Arsenal fans alarmed about the prospects of playing CSKA in Moscow on April 12 for the second leg of their Europe League quarter-final. One Arsenal supporters´ group called it "a hot potato of a draw in view of the political stand-off". The club itself re-posted on its website a Foreign Office travel advisory warning of possible "anti-British sentiment or harassment". Russia´s World Cup organising committee chief Alexei Sorokin expressed disappointment about the tensions and said Arsenal fans have nothing to fear. "It is a shame that the games will be played in such circumstance," said Sorokin, who is also a senior member of the Russian Football Union. "We will ensure security in equal measures to all -- from dignitaries to fans," Sorokin told TASS. Russia to expel 23 British diplomats: foreign ministry '23 diplomatic staff at British embassy in Moscow are declared persona non grata and to be expelled within a week' But he also expressed a hint of annoyance at Arsenal´s decision to put up the Foreign Office travel advisory after Friday´s Europa League draw. "To us, there is no difference which country people come from or what our diplomatic relations with them are," he said. "There are absolutely no grounds for such warnings." Sorokin has been fighting an uphill battle to clean up Russia´s image ahead of its first World Cup at home. The June 14 to July 15 tournament has been associated closely with Vladimir Putin ever since the Russian strongman wrested the hosting rights away from England in 2010. Organisers are keen to resolve all the controversies and the poisoning case does not help. Preparations have already been shadowed by concerns ranging from racism to hooliganism and doping that saw Russia perform at the Pyeongchang Winter Games under a neutral Olympic flag. British Prime Minister Theresa May decided to give the World Cup itself a snub by announcing that royals and ministers would not be attending. A boycott by the England team is thought unlikely despite wide-ranging speculations about it in the media and support from some British MPs.

During the hearing, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf?s (PTI) senator-elect Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar told the court that he renounced his British nationality in 2013. The Chief Justice queried whether he gave up his British nationality for good, or temporarily, to which Sarwar?s counsel said that under British law, nationality can be restored. To this, Justice Nisar observed that it appeared Sarwar temporarily renounced his British nationality just so that he could ?become a governor and after enjoying the mandates, could restore his [British] nationality.? The Chief Justice remarked that Sarwar must give an undertaking that he would never restore his British nationality. If you restore your British nationality, then this would call for a disqualification, Justice Nisar observed. The Chief Justice observed earlier this week that the apex court will rule on the dual nationality of senators before the election of the Senate chairman on March 12. ECP notifies senators-elect, except dual nationals The senators whose notification has been withheld include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf?s (PTI) Chaudhry Sarwar, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz?s Haroon Akhtar, Saadya Abbasi and Nuzhat Sadiq Also earlier this week, the Supreme Court ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to halt the notification announcing the victory of four individuals in Senate elections for possessing dual nationalities. Following the order, the ECP withheld notifications of PTI?s Chaudhry Sarwar, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz?s Haroon Akhtar, Saadya Abbasi and Nuzhat Sadiq.
  9. Who says that 14th February is supposed to all mushy and red and pink? Let's celebrate this one of the most hated days with some humour, because our love life is already a joke, it's such a big joke that even my cat won't cuddle with me. Here are some custom-made Valentine's day cards templates that you should send to your crush right now and express your true feelings with something hilarious. If sending this card doesn't get you a reply, tell them to talk to me, I'll set them straight for sure. But if your crush has a good sense of humour, you will get a reply, even though it might be just a 'hahahahha' but at least that's the perfect representation of your life on Valentine's Day so it's okay, it's symbolic. Till then, enjoy and spread some love and laughs. If this ends up getting you a date, I accept Amazon gift cards as a thank you.
  10. Nothing makes us happier than spending time with friends and family during the holidays. We wish vacation time came more often and made our lives easier and less tiresome. While some are lucky enough to have a gala time with their families, there are some of us who just can't (damn those last-minute work calls!). Ask a journalist, a cop, a soldier, a helper to name few......we can be called on-duty anywhere anytime. That's life for us. But come on! Let's not get grumpy. With an entire line-up of web series you can always enjoy the festive feeling no matter with who you are. PS: Please tell Joey, Christmas will be snowy! 2. How I Met Your Mother (Season 2, Episode 11) (c) CBS This show was all about Ted narrating his kids the tale of how he met his wife and their mother. But it's the Christmas episode that tops the list. Remember when Ted called Lily the B word and she almost cancelled Christmas in a fit of rage? 12. During board exams, our success or failure depended on the sections we managed to study and the queries we checked and rechecked with our teachers just to get our concepts clear. Well, now that the boards have already started, the kids across the country are stressing and panicking over what’s going to happen. However, some students in Gujarat might be sorted and stress free if they are using this ‘magical’ pen sold by Kashthabhanjan Temple in Panchmahal. Remember in our growing years, we used to binge-watch ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’ and envy the protagonist, Sanju, for having a magic pencil? Seems the temple authorities took that fantasy show too seriously and decided to turn it into a reality. We are not joking, this temple has come up with a very unusual and divine idea to help students reduce the stress levels and these leaflets printed in Gujarati seemed to certify the same. © BCCL Reportedly, the temple is selling a set of pens priced at Rs. 1900 that have divine properties as they were obtained after performing a ‘Hanuman Saraswati Yagya’ and offers 100% guarantee of passing the exam. This pen is believed to relieve you from stress and bring you closer to success. So, what if we don’t know any question, will this pen have the power to write the answers on its own? © BCCL While, this trick seems to bank on the sentiments of parents and the pressure in a student’s mind, they have at least made their point clear that divinity can’t save every student’s grace. So, all those who fail in exams can be assured that they will at least get the full amount back. Wow, now that’s what we wanted to hear. However, to buy this pen, you will have to follow some prerequisites like giving mobile number, exam receipt, photocopy of hall ticket and a copy of school or college ID. Writing exams with a superstitious magical pen is like going into a pool full of sharks trusting them to be vegetarians. Source: Indian Express
