  1. The battle we've all been waiting for since the end of time, has finally come to an end, and the Night King no longer exists to torment, torture and kill the living. The 'Battle of Winterfell' did get a mixed bag review, as some seemed to have really liked how things ended, while many were disappointed with the abrupt ending and no closure whatsoever. Even so, this was a final goodbye to most of the bad guys and some good guys in the episode and now, it's time to face the eventual enemy- Cersei, in King's Landing. © HBO We're not sure what lies ahead in the upcoming episode but we do know we're going to witness a lot of mind games, negotiations, hate and sarcasm along with a battle in all probability for the Iron Throne. While Cersei and Euron wait out the Winterfell folks, we're sure there are going to be many revelations about the Battle of Winterfell that'll come forth in this episode. © HBO For now, we have enough fodder with us to speculate what can happen in episode 4 of 'GoT' Season 8, since HBO is teasing us with pictures from the next episode, which came out yesterday. It seems like people in Winterfell are joyous about the victory and crushed about losing a lot of people. They're also planning the next big face-off and Dany seems quite content throughout. Here, take a look: (1) It's Time To Take In Suggestions And Decide What's Next. © HBO (2) Euron Definitely Wants To Get Into Cersei's Pants & Make A Baby But Knowing Cersei, Maybe She Has Other Plans? © HBO (3) See What We Mean By She Seems Content? © HBO (4) Folks At Winterfell Mourning The Dead. © HBO (5) He Truly Did Have The Weight Of The World On His Shoulders. © HBO (6) And There They Go, With Their Ships & Troops To King's Landing. © HBO (7) Here's Bidding A Final Goodbye To The People Who Laid Down Their Lives In The Battle Of Winterfell. © HBO (8) They Will Always Burn The Dead Now. © HBO So, there we have it. A glimpse into the upcoming episode 4. We know that Winterfell is mourning their soldiers and the others they lost. Jon and the gang are distraught, but they really need to think about the next possible strategy to defeat the enemy on the east coast of Westeros. Apart from that, the dragons and their mother seem fine. They have their fleet intact and are taking it with them to King's Landing. There's a saying that there's always a Stark present at Winterfell at any given point in time, so we're under the assumption that Bran may stay back? Well, let's find out on Monday, shall we? For now, have fun with these pictures and assume your best!
  2. Okay, in case you're waiting to savour today's insane episode of 'Game of Thrones' later in the evening, then you have been warned, because just like the night is full of darkness and terror, this one has a few major spoilers for you. For the rest of us who are still shook, here's what the next episode might bring. So, the Battle of Winterfell lasted long enough for a few people to die but it was crazy towards the end when Arya Stark struck down the mighty Night King. Now, the whole 'he just died in a jiffy' has left everyone with a bit of indigestion thinking how easy that was, if not quick. But we forget that this is 'GOT' and things can happen rather quickly and with only 3 more episodes to go, there are so many plots that need attention. With the battle now being won, it looks like Cersei and Khaleesi are ready for a face-off. So many people have scores to settle with Cersei, who conveniently decided to stay out of the war and now, Khaleesi only wants more bloodshed. © HBO Now, here's what I feel we can expect from the next 'Game Of Thrones' episode with the Night King resting in an ice cube somewhere. There will be another gory battle between the living. There has to a 'Cleganebowl' where we fear the Hound might die. The Starks and the dragon queen might have a slight tiff between them which could be tricky for a certain Tyrion Lannister and, of course, there is the anticipated madness that might grip our dear Dany given the threat to her throne in the form of lover Jon Snow and no Jorah to calm her nerves down. With so much left to witness, the action is only getting crazier.
  3. The IPL fever is on, and there is a lot of excitement in the air. From incessantly praying for your home team to buying exclusive IPL gears, that's the mood overall. But at work, it's a different situation. For me, I cannot even concentrate when the match is on, especially if it's my team that's playing. And I am sure you go through the same thing, when you're at work post 8.00 pm and all you can think of is IPL. So here are the 5 things that happen at office every year when the IPL is on. I bet you'll relate to this. 1. Constantly thinking of an excuse to leave early What do you do when it is a long, long day at work, and the match starts at 8.00 pm. How do you get out? Well, I suggest bring out the big guns - headaches, viral fever, flu, everything. Having said that, I sincerely hope my boss isn't reading this right now. 2. Taking innumerable washroom breaks to check the score on UC Browser IPL's on, your home team is playing, and you are still at work. One thing every cricket fan does at work is take millions of loo breaks just to check the live scores on UC Browser. One of the best things about UC Browser is that its in-app tool of cricket content aggregation offers all-in-one live cricket content, including live scores, news, videos, photos, live commentaries and more. Additionally, this time around UC Browser is going big with IPL 2019. They have launched the UC Miss Cricket Contest for the course of IPL. It's India's first ever cricket-themed online pagent. In fact, last year the contest received a tremendous response, including participation from Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela, Miss India Priyadarshini Chatterjee and TV actress Shirin Sewani. The contest is underway till May 1, and we hear the winner will win a huge prize, and will also be featured on a billboard at New York Times Square. Now that's big, ain't it? 3. Putting your money on your favourite team This happens everytime IPL is on. It's almost like an unofficial tradition at work. I am going big on Mumbai Indians, whom are you supporting? 4. Checking the WiFi 24x7 Here's a truth. You are never going to check the WiFi speed if it's a usual day at work. But when the IPL is on, WiFi is your top-most priority. I mean, how else will you livestream the match and check the scores all the time? 5. Getting into a heated conversation During IPL, a KKR fan will always get into a heated conversation with a Mumbai Indian fan. Or, a CSK follower will never miss an opportunity to pick on a RCB fan. When we talk about the IPL fever, this is exactly what we mean. Do you relate to this? If yes, let us know which team you are supporting this time.
  4. While the career of an athlete looks splendid with multiple multi-million-dollar deals coming from giants like Nike and Adidas every year and various clubs going out of their way to offer expensive contracts to entice them to play in their uniform. Expensive cars, big bungalows, world tours, a successful professional sportsperson has it all. But unfathomable things can also happen in a sportsman's life that can take all that away in a second and bring a wave of unnerving terror along with them. Here below are 4 of the worst and most gruesome injuries to ever happen to an athlete: Disclaimer: videos listed below contain graphic content 1. Clint Malarchuk's Throat Sliced By Ice Hockey Blades If you search for Clint Malarchuk's name on the internet, the first 50 pages will only talk about what is considered to be the most horrific injury suffered by an ice hockey player ever. In 1989, in a game between St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres, the right side of the throat of goalie Clint Malarchuk was accidentally sliced open by Steve Tuttle's skate blade. As the white ice ring turned red with the player's blood, he walked out on his legs as he didn't want his mother to watch him die, as reported by the player himself. #icehockey #goaltender #clintmalarchuk #neardeathexperience A post shared by PametnaInteligentaSpretnaBica (@pametnainteligentnaspretnabica) on May 28, 2018 at 9:49am PDT It took around 300 stitches and a series of PTSD sessions for Malarchuk to get over the incident. 2. Peter Biaksangzuala's Neck-Breaking Celebration After A Goal 23-year-old Peter Biaksangzuala from Mizoram, was an extremely talented footballer “who dreamt of playing in the national league," said Lalnghinglova Hmar, the Mizoram Football Association's (MFA) secretary. In a match between Bethlehem Vengthland and Chanmari West, Biaksangzuala scored a brilliant goal on a volley without giving even a second to the opposing keeper to react. Sadly, the young star let excitement get the better of him as he tried to celebrate with a somersault. Unable to complete the turn, Peter landed awkwardly on his neck while breaking it. Unfortunately, Peter was not as lucky as Clint Malarchuk and succumbed to his injuries a week later at the Aizawl Civil Hospital. 3. Phillip Hughes' Head Hit By A Bouncer Probably the most infamous incident on the list, Phillip Hughes' ill-fated injury was covered and mourned over by the entire world. On 25th November 2014, even though he was wearing a helmet, Phil Hughes suffered a blow just under his left ear which was unprotected. After visibly being shaken for a couple of seconds, Hughes collapsed on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital. After being placed under induced coma, Hughes died three days later on 27th December 2014, just three days before his 26th birthday. 4. Salim Sdiri's Punctured Liver And Kidney By A Javelin During the 2007 IAAF Golden League at Rome's Olimpico Stadium, javelin thrower Tero Kristian Pitkämäki, while warming up before the contest, accidentally slipped while throwing. As a result, the projectile went out of the field and right in the scapula of France's Salim Sdiri, puncturing his liver and right kidney. Luckily, the injuries weren't fatal and Sdiri made a successful return to the field in 2008 and was even selected for the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
  5. They say falling in love with someone, at first sight, is something you only watch in the movies. It never comes to life anymore. I agree it's hard to compare falling in love with someone at first sight to knowing someone for years and then falling in love with them. But love, at first sight, does exist and in reality, it's one of the strongest bonds that barely deters in spirit. (c)Instagram Today's generation is a little sticky with this phenomena though. That's also because a lot of people don't know that the real concept of 'love at first sight' came from our forefathers and ancestors when love was a lot simpler and malleable. Relationships survived without the advent of the 'next right swipe'. (c)Instagram But nowadays, men and women alike, need the clarity to adopt love as a feature in their lives, to pursue one another to look for happiness. No one trusts love anymore, everyone is either rooting for 'the perfect match, after 20 swipes' or looking for 'the one'. Gone are the days, when you'd just meet someone and you know, they're the one for you. Well, not entirely gone though. Meet Ankita and Amish, the only real-time couple we've come across in a long time who've survived beautifully for six years after they fell in love with each other at first sight! I fell in love with her in one night flat- Amish (c)Instagram And that was that we're guessing. All it took for Amish was to spend a few hours with Ankita and be absolutely head over heels in love with her. And she with him. Amish and Ankita first met at a karaoke bar, where Ankita, much to her dislike, was setting her friend up with Amish, but little did she know, Amish already had his eyes set upon her and the rest of the night was just the two of them getting along like a house on fire. Although after her friend's insistence, Ankita decided to approach Amish to pursue him for her friend, instead she found what she was looking for, all along, right at that moment, right there and then. (c)Instagram We found love in a hopeless place, where the world was a drunken mess and looking to have a good time. It was almost like a weekly Wednesday meet up for subscribers of hedonism where winning mating game and detachment ruled the roost. And there he stood with his thick black glasses bobbing his head to a song. That night I realised I had found my co-conspirator, the worshipper of mush and cheese, the love for greasy food, wanderlust, believing the world was made of marsh-mellows and buttercream. He was my kind of boy - Ankita (c)Instagram That's how love swings, or is supposed to, isn't it? It doesn't wait, it never recedes at the perfect moment and it lets you know you can't control it. Falling in love, at first sight, is actually a long lost scientific battle. There is a science involved in every realm of it and while the chemicals balance in your brain, you keep falling deeper in that feeling. It's true, while you are falling in love, your brain is creating dopamine and serotonin, and the composition is a real rush. (c)Instagram But inadequately so, most young people today have learnt to consciously alter that immediate response by judging their own reaction while rejecting the other person's. It tough to let your feelings flow, when you're constantly rushed by numerous 'options' at hand, not giving yourself a chance to experience the purity of that rush. There's Incredible Strength In Just Getting To Know Someone From Scratch We sat across the table, ordered for wontons and beers. Dipped one in the hot sauce, took a bite like it meant life, made disgusting sounds, panted with a chilly breath and washed it down with pints of beers. It was almost like Wonton chomp, chilly pant, glug, hysterical laughter, awkward silence, butterflies and then repeat. I even chose a yellow muffler over a purple jacket for my date, not the quintessential LBD. I was my messy best but Amish always felt like home to me, so it was very real there was no need to pretend - Ankita (c)Instagram Their first date was somewhat like that. Their dynamic was built on the nuance of barely knowing each other. They'd just happen to meet at a bar and they started talking, so there was a lot to find out. But that's the best part about falling in love with someone instantaneously, isn't it? You want to know every little aspect of their existence till it fills your subconscious to the brim. Post their little encounter at the bar, the two spent a good amount of time together to find out who they really were and what made them fall in love, in the first place. (c)Instagram She's incredible. The human being she is, the power to give, the power to love beyond self-love, the power to stand against the tide or a cyclone or both, the warrior she is- Wonder Woman's got nothing on her, her innocence, her morality, her feminism. I am proud that a being like this exists in this humanity-is-secondary world - Amish Amish and Ankita finally tied the knot 3 years ago and because both met as total strangers in love, they started imbibing the best qualities from one another, just to be comfortable around each other. The likes of respect, equality, understanding, faith and trust was an autopilot derivative of that. Amish graceful took her last name after marriage because he realised love shouldn't succumb to your identity as unequal's, rather it should stand out in true equality and unity of one's mind, body and soul. (c)Instagram Amish believes in equality, I dig that about him. It's a simple virtue but easier said than done. When we got married he decided to take my sir name and said- 'why should you have all the fun and celebrate me, I want to celebrate you too - Ankita Relationships based on 'Love at first sight' are long-lasting. That's because they create an illusion of positivity in your head about accepting each other, through a myriad of reasons and making it works against all odds while starting from scratch. And every time Amish and Ankita talk about how they first met and fell in love instantly, their connection certainly deepens in time. (c)Instagram So, if you're looking for a love that's fulfilling and deep, keep your mind and soul open, you never know who you might meet and spend the rest of your life with, at that very moment! I have learnt to be a more aware and honest human being, who can accept his weaknesses, weigh his insecurities and be proud of his strengths. But the most important thing it has taught me that the fairy-tale ideal kinda love does exist but for it to prosper, you work on it selflessly every day - Amish
  6. For the bunch of us who love watching Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's brilliant on-screen chemistry, there is some super good news! Rohit Dhawan, Varun Dhawan's brother is launching his own production company and according to some really awesome reports, the first movie to be produced under his banner will be none other than the remake of the iconic hit 'Coolie No. 1'. The star cast has reportedly already been decided with Alia and Varun, and Papa Dhawan will take the onus of directing the film, once again. © Twitter Remember 'Coolie No.1' though? Of course, you do. Anytime you get a chance to sing 'main toh rastein se jaa raha tha', you absolutely go gung-ho over it! Yes, the David Dhawan directorial film had Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead along with Shakti Kapoor, the late Kader Khan and the late Sadashiv Amrapurkar. Going by the cast, you'd know those were the hay days of the 90s era! © Tips Industries Limited Now, Varun wants to remake all of David's No.1 films including 'Hero No.1', 'Biwi No.1', 'Jodi No.1' and of course, 'Coolie No.1', and we're guessing all of them are going to be an absolute laugh riot! According to reports, the film is expected to start rolling sometime this year and we can't wait to watch Varun and Alia get into the good 'ol shoes of Govinda and Karisma respectively. © Twitter Earlier, another report stated that Sara Ali Khan was being considered to play the lead actress in the film, but eventually, David went along with Alia. Maybe because Alia and Varun have successfully been the Jodi No.1 with films like 'Student Of The Year', 'Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya' & 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya'. Here's hoping we see them together as Raju and Malti in the remake of 'Coolie No.1'.

  8. When life gets crazy and there are multiple things that you are stressing about, more than often, the first thing to go haywire is sleep. We don't get enough rest and are always somehow sleep-deprived! If you eat healthy and exercise regularly but still don't manage to squeeze in at least seven hours of sleep every night, you may undermine all your other efforts. You can still work towards your goal of a sound sleep with a fool-proof schedule or a purpose-built innovation designed to be the most effective sleep-inducer like the Bose Sleepbuds! This new product is the perfect thing to make sure that on-the-go millennials like us catch up on our sleep to avoid facing the perils of not getting enough sleep. But before talking more on the wonder product, here's a reality check of all the things that happen to your body when you don't sleep enough or well: 1. You Get Sick Unsplash Have you ever found yourself falling sick after having a very hectic schedule all week? That's your immune system getting its revenge. Losing sleep can impair your body's ability to fight off illness. This makes it easier to get sick. And there's even a reciprocal relationship between sleep and your immune system. You are more likely to lose additional sleep if your body is fighting off a bug and haven't had enough sleep. 2. You Gain Weight Unsplash If you've not been sleeping well, it can lead to you packing on a couple of kgs. A study examined the relationship between sleep and weight in 21,469 adults over the age of 20. It was found that people who slept less than 5 hours each night over the course of the three-year study were more likely to gain weight and eventually become obese. Those who slept between 7 and 8 hours fared better on the scale. 3. You're More Accident Prone Unsplash If you get 6 or fewer hours of sleep every night, you're three times more likely to be involved in a car accident, according to the National Sleep Foundation. The people most vulnerable are shift workers, commercial drivers, business travellers, and anyone else working long or odd hours. Think twice before getting behind the wheel if you're not sleeping enough. 4. Your Skin Suffers Unsplash Your looks suffer too! One research studied the relationship between sleep habits and the condition of the subjects' skin. The results revealed that those with too little sleep had more fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin colour, and marked looseness of the skin. The poor sleepers were also more dissatisfied with their appearance than their well-rested counterparts. 5. Your Thinking Capabilities Deteriorate Unsplash Ever noticed how to tend to not think clearly or forget things if you miss even one night of sleep. In a study published by Experimental Brain Research, a group of 18 men was given a task to complete. The first task was completed following a full night's sleep. The next task was completed after skipping a night of sleep. Brain functions including memory, decision-making, reasoning, and problem-solving worsened, along with reaction time and alertness. We've all been there. Those nights when you just can't sleep because annoying sounds like snoring, traffic, and loud neighbours are keeping you awake. If you think you have not been sleeping well, don't worry! There is a new solution: a purpose-built innovation designed to be the most effective and comfortable in-ear noise masking solution on the market- the Bose Sleepbuds! Designed for comfort, these tiny, truly wireless sleepbuds deliver uniquely engineered sounds that mask unwanted noise and lull you to sleep. So you can wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day. They look like tiny headphones, but Bose noise-masking sleepbuds are uniquely designed for sleep. They don't stream music or have acoustic noise cancellation. Instead, they use pre-loaded, soothing masking sounds to cover up unwanted nighttime noises so you can get to sleep and stay asleep. If you've not been sleeping well, buy yourself a pair of sleepbuds here. And if you're a loud snorer, do your partner a favour and gift them a good night's sleep with this blessing!
  9. Did you know that your body slows down your kidney while you sleep? Also, if you stop sleeping, you will never have any permanent memory! Next time when you find your girlfriend looking adorable while sleeping, remember that she is registering everything you did during the daytime to use it against you in future. Here below are 10 pretty weird AF things that are happening to our body while we are in deep sleep: 1. Paralyses © Wikipedia Everytime you sleep, your body repeats a sleep cycle various times. One of the stages of this cycle is REM, i.e. Rapid Eye Movement. If someone wakes you up while you are in REM stage, you are most likely to remember your dream. While your brain is registering temporary memory into permanent slots, it paralyses your body so that your muscles will not move, interpreting these signals as commands. This is a totally different phenomenon from sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is not being able to move even though you are conscious. Few people consider it a paranormal activity as they feel like someone is sitting on their chest. Visit your physician if you experience something similar; it could be a symptom of narcolepsy. 2. Jerking Awake © Pixabay Hypnic jerks or hypnagogic jerks make you feel like you have been jolted into consciousness. A sensation that you are falling might also be a cause for the discontinuation of your sleep. The limited studies done on the matter could not agree on a specific reason of occurrence. 3. Eye Movement If you have noticed someone's eyeball move while sleeping, don't be alarmed. Each sleep cycle lasts for around 90 minutes and REM is the final stage. During the REM stage, your pupils will quickly from left to right. 4. Producing Human Growth Hormone © Pinterest Beauty sleep isn't an utter myth. While sleeping, the blood glucose level of your body is comparatively lower. This lower glucose level is believed to trigger an essential hormone called growth hormone, also known as HGH. This hormone helps in regenerating the muscles, bone and other tissues. 5. Narrowing Of Throat © Flickr What's worse than a snoring partner? While you struggle to search for a justifiable answer to that question, let us tell you why your partner snores. Multiple situations can trigger snoring, including tonsillitis, stuffy nose, and narrow throat. The fact that your breathing pattern changes while sleeping might not surprise you, but did you know that your throat naturally narrows as your muscles are relaxing? In extreme conditions (called sleep apnea) your throat can completely close. 6. Grinding Teeth © Pinterest Bruxism is a scientific term to describe conscious teeth clenching or grinding. Most people suffer from this condition; while in some cases it may be insignificant, others end up with cracked teeth and swollen jaw muscles. This is exactly why dentists recommend some people to use mouth guards while sleeping. 7. Slowing Down Of Kidneys © Pixabay While other body organs seem to follow the hare, your kidneys consider the tortoise its idol. The kidneys' role in your body is to filter toxins out of your bloodstream and add the waste to urine. This mechanism is slowed down multiple folds to reduce the amount of urine production while you are asleep. 8. Making Up Stories © Pixabay Sometimes, there are few dreams which seem so vivid that you can't separate them from reality. Even after years of research, scientists fail to explain the stories and characters we dream about. There is no proper scientific explanation as to why certain dreams feel so real. 9. Creating An Explosion © Pinterest Exploding head syndrome is a rare condition experienced by few. These people hear a loud crash in their dreams. Most of these people explain that the voice sounds like a gunshot and is generally experienced while they are drifting off to sleep. Even though it doesn't cause any pain, it is definitely frightening for the sufferer. These people are usually adults over 50 years of age. 10. Turning Into A Chatterbox © Flickr Mumbling while dreaming is a rather common condition, in fact, it happens to about 5 per cent of the world's population. But did you know that men are more susceptible to it than women? It does not have any severe symptoms and scientists are yet to give an explanation over it. However, it is believed to be linked to another sleep issue called sleep apnea. In sleep apnea, breathing repeatedly stops and starts multiple times during the entire sleep cycle.
  10. There is some great news for Netflix regulars out there. If you've caught the scariest horror/thriller show on Netflix last month, get ready to watch the second season soon! Yes, that's right. 'Haunting Of The Hill House' , the show that gave us goosebumps for all of its 10 episodes, is likely to come out with its second season soon and we're doing anything but keeping our chill, upon hearing about this! © FlanaganFilm The series was released last month in October and it was seemingly based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel. People who watched it, including me, freaked out completely but were in awe of the concept and the storyline. But I wasn't the only one freaking out while watching it. There were reports of people passing out while watching the show and of cast members seeing 'things' while filming the show as well. What do you expect if you make a horror that's not only visually terrifying but psychologically alluring as well! © FlanaganFilm But that's not the best part. The best part is, if you were traumatised by the earlier season then brace yourself to be traumatised once again because news is director Mike Flanagan is now aiming to come back with a second season, in the form of an anthology, where actors will come back to experiment with different characters from the show. Isn't that scary and exciting all at once? According to Carla Gugino, the one who played Olivia Crain, Mike is definitely going with the notion of an anthology and everyone will be coming back together to partake in the series. "I think he feels like he has told the complete story of the Crain family. But if I was invited and I was able to, I would really love to, just because I do love to collaborate with him." she told a popular publication. © Twitter Even Micheal Huisman who plays Steve Crain gave us a little hint of assurance that there might be a spin-off of some sort to bring the second season in. "Well, you know what, very early on, when we were still shooting this show, we had conversations about what a second season could look like. I think that one of the crazy things about Mike is that he is an infinite well of ideas and stories. I don't think he ever sleeps. There are possibilities - if the show is a hit - to create a second season and still be in this world of Hill House."But I could also totally see [Flanagan] pitch an idea where we just do a spin-off. Film an anthology series and take it in a completely different direction. We have to wait and see." - Micheal revealed to a popular publication. © FlanaganFilm Meanwhile, while the actors and directors are figuring out season 2 of HELL house, why don't you do a complete re-do of season one, just so you don't forget the important parts and maybe give yourself a scare every once a while? I mean sometimes you do tend to store things that you'd rather forget in your subconscious and I believe it's time to bring those things out into your conscious mind! After all, we only live once don't we! Watch the trailer here
  11. As I stood on the curb for my ride to work this morning, I could see the man sitting inside his Fortuner on the other side of the road, haggling with a street vendor selling flowers. I wasn't privy to their conversation (disagreements rather) of course, but whatever transpired between the two left the florist visibly upset, as he shouted after the SUV, fast disappearing into the oncoming flow of the Monday morning traffic. The man got his flowers, but something about the exchange had left the vendor with a sullen face. I want to believe it was to do with the money, I might be wrong to make that assumption, but on the other hand, I might be more than right too. © Dharma Productions The incident left a bad taste in my mouth, and it got me thinking, “well, SUV dude, whatever that was, you're gonna have to pay for it elsewhere...you see, karma is a bitch”, but even as I said that to myself, I wasn't quite convinced by it. You see, the man in the swanky SUV still got his flowers, and he'll put them to use for whatever purpose he bought them. By the end of it he'll be a happy man, but the poor vendor will have to make do with his share of money and (bad)luck for the day, and that seemed pretty unfair, presuming that the guy in the SUV could have easily spared a few more bucks to strike a fair deal. Basically, what I am trying to say is that, I wasn't convinced (or ready) to wait for karma to take its own sweet time and bring the rich guy to justice. After all, we're a generation constantly petitioning for all things “instant”, so justice must also be meted out instantly in this case, right? Wrong. I had just witnessed the universe prove me wrong. So, moral of the story, good things will still happen to bad people, and more often than not, karma will terribly fail to don the bitch face, when you most passionately want to see it unfurl. © Dharma Productions Did I just hear some protesting squirms coming from you? But hold your horses for a bit, I have a point to make here. Have you heard of the maxim, “justice delayed is justice denied”? Well, I happen to come from that school of thought. Which means, I want to see justice get served ASAP. But this is India, the land of Gods, and it's also the land of the rich and the powerful. Most of all, it's a land ruled by the ever mighty patriarchy, which has a definite soft spot for the rich and powerful. You know where that leads us, right? Take the ongoing Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar row that's got all the gossip mills across the country churning out updates day in and day out. That's one of the most recent examples to lead you to my point. While it's not proven whether Patekar is guilty or not, it cannot be denied that the reported incident obviously didn't cost him anything over the years, whereas Tanushree had to abandon her dreams and career, under the alleged threats and harassment being meted out to her by Patekar and his “powerful” friends. © Dharma Productions The same trope can be found in Salman Khan's (in)famous hit-and-run case, and we're all well aware of where the case led, and the outcome it bore for the actor. Nothing happened to him, obviously, his popularity, power or career! Be it Salman's charitable venture with 'Being Human' or Patekar's goodwill towards the farmers of Maharashtra, they seem to be able to hide their misdeeds well behind these moves. No, I am not disregarding the good they may have done for the needy, but I am saying that this sure does the job of covering up the mess they leave in their wake. For most people, it becomes enough to forgive and forget these men's bad deeds. And this is the point their fans and defendants step in yapping about the “good” they have been doing for the people. For some strange (read stupid) reason, their outwardly “good deeds” seem to be enough for the lesser endowed people to believe in their “goodness”. © Dharma Productions You may be interested to know that there's an entire research done on the psychology behind this move, and how people feel that by investing in good deeds, one is actually investing in good karma. You can check out the findings of the research here. So, basically, whether I am looking at the guy in the SUV or Salman, or more recently Patekar and his antics, it seems more believable that even though karma is a bitch, good things will continue to happen to bad people, because apparently in the 21st century, you can't even trust karma to get its act right.
