  3. The 'Game of Thrones' final episode, and the entire eighth season for that matter, was a huge letdown. Everyone knows and everyone agrees. While the cast is now saying they don't appreciate all the criticism, since they know how much work was actually put into it, we've seen that they basically admitted that even they were disappointed with it. I mean, the old videos of them talking about the final season last year, looked like they were being held hostage and were being forced to say nice things. Now, it looks like Kit Harrington aka Jon Snow aka Aegon Targaryen (not that him being a Targaryen even mattered) actually gave up on the Season halfway through the shooting. There's concrete proof that he decided to do something useful with his time on the sets, since his character was already basically ruined. Any guesses on what other work he found? He apparently became a freaking makeup artist. Look at him, being so professional. When's the makeup kit dropping, Kit? What will it be called? Makeup Kit Harrington? Makeup Kit by Kit? Yes, I know it's not him but even I'm having doubts since it looks almost exactly like Kit, it's uncanny. There's no actual explanation for Kit actually doing this so I'm assuming it's not, just because of that. Behind-the-sets pictures are honestly a blessing, especially this one. Oh, and the one posted by Sophie Turner as well. It's not relevant, but everyone should see this. 4. Resident fashion expert. Mother hen. Best babysitter in town! The guy with insane nail-studded baseball bat-handling skills. Who am I talking about? Steve Harrington, of course. © Netflix But this wasn't always the case, was it? The first time I saw Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) on 'Stranger Things', I hated him with the intensity of a thousand exploding suns. Let me elaborate. I filed him in the category of those abominably rude and annoying people who push others around in order to get their way, and they bully others to establish their “coolness”. He was that entitled jock in high school; with tall hair (thanks to the Farrah Fawcett hairspray) and money to throw around, who thought that the school was his playground. Narcissistic with a touch of dumbness; the quintessential heartbreaker. And he had all the attributes of the classic bully/fuckboy: being mean to others for no apparent reason, overly obsessed with his hair, a couple of hangers-on, pothead friends (Tommy and Carol) who do more harm than good and who egg him to be meaner. via GIPHY Not to mention his abominable treatment of Nancy (Natalia Dyer), who he thought should thank her lucky stars to be dating him. (He was quite the annoying boyfriend.) He wanted to coerce her into saying “Yes” for things she didn't want to do. via GIPHY He was mean to Nancy's best friend, Barb, (who in hindsight wasn't very nice to Steve) because she wasn't the epitome of cool, something he thought himself to be. © Netflix In short, he was the typical 80s guy from any John Hughes movie; who was not the hero. © Netflix Steve's redemption arc is one of the most entertaining parts of 'Stranger Things'. Also, it is dealt with such poignancy that you are bound to love him even if you didn't think much of him first. In the initial episodes of Season 1, I had dismissed him as one of those secondary characters who gets eaten up first when the monsters strike. via GIPHY Come Season 2, I was in for a pleasant shock. I couldn't have imagined that this guy who seemed good-for-nothing would become one of my favourite characters in the series. Yes, one of his redeeming qualities in Season 1 was his love for Nancy, but his behaviour told another story. via GIPHY Initially, he starts the relationship just to get in her pants; a feat he had accomplished earlier with a number of girls. But to be fair to him, when Nancy says “no”, he respects her decision and doesn't start wallowing or attempt to manipulate her. © Netflix When Barb goes missing, he tries to cheer her up, but mostly for his own sake. Then, he is quite flippant about it which leads to his breakup with Nancy (Bullshit, Bullshit, Bullshit). But by this time, Steve has already made a soft spot in our hearts. What Makes His Redemption So Appealing? Steve mirrors our innermost human qualities. He jumps to conclusions at the slightest provocation and is a dick to Jonathan (whose creepy nature cannot be condoned). Who of us can say that they never, ever acted on an impulse and found out they were wrong? He tries to salvage Nancy's honour but his way of doing that is extremely wrong, he ends up looking like a douche. © Netflix From Steve' s perspective, it seems like he is the one doing all the work: coaxing Nancy to loosen up, trying to cheer her up when she's down. He seems to want to do everything right, but it ends up becoming a mess, like the dinner with Barb's parents. via GIPHY One of his most relatable qualities is the way he deals with conflicting choices: He keeps teetering between good and bad; a dilemma we are faced with every now and then. He slut-shames Nancy when he thinks that she is hooking up with Jonathan (infamously putting graffiti on the theatre: “Nancy the Slut Wheeler”) but when he realizes his folly, he makes amends for it. The dejection and realization is apparent in his eyes when he takes the scrubber from the theatre worker and starts rubbing the words off. Steve's redemption is likeable because he makes a choice, willingly. He chooses to do the right thing, when he necessarily does not have to. He could have easily left Nancy and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) to their fates in Season 1, but he comes back to fight with them. © Netflix Moreover, he repents for his sins and asks for clemency without anything in return. In Season 2, this fact is even more established when he makes it a point to protect the “shitheads” when he can just go the other way and be safe. © Netflix Though the Duffer Brothers had been leading us to like Steve more and more with each passing episode, it was done in such a brilliant and surreptitious way that it caught us off-guard when the full force was felt in Season 2. Be it his somewhat goofy ways, which become clearer in Season 2 or his hair which started off as a sign of his narcissism and then morphed into a symbol for his friendship with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve became an endearing character. © Netflix And we could do nothing but feel terrible when he got beaten up season after season; by Jonathan, by Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and who knows next. (Judging by the Season 3 trailer, it'll happen in July as well). What started off as a seemingly unkind and depraved character turned out to be the anti-hero of the series. Not only that, this role reversal places him in the august company: Loki, Jaime Lannister, Han Solo to name a few. A major chunk of Season 2 goes into redefining Steve's character (and all for the better); he seems to be the only other character to be going through hell excluding Will (Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). And the selection is diverse: from being dumped by the love of his life for a “nerd”, to getting beaten up by the new guy, to being manipulated into putting his life in danger by a bunch of teens, and the final nail in the coffin: giving out his beauty secrets (which hurts the most :P ). © Pinterest For the audience, this saga leads to acknowledging that he has other roles than just being the douchebag. He rises above his one-dimensional role; we see him as a brother figure to Dustin, giving out girl advice and genuinely caring for him. via GIPHY We get to see the parallels in the two characters; unrequited love for the person they can't have. What also accelerates their bond is that they are the outcasts of the group; everyone else seems to be carrying on with their lives while these two are left out. And that is what makes their relationship ever more beautiful and wholesome. They both make such a great team! So pure! © Netflix He is a father figure to Dustin (and the group) and sticks up for him, because he now knows how it feels to be ostracized. When he fights (abysmally) with Billy, even though knowing he is no match to him (I mean the guy nonchalantly smokes while lifting dumbbells), it makes him more adorable. His apparent kookiness serves as comedic relief; his abominable essay-writing skills, he becomes the butt of jokes (like the children admonishing his lack of fighting skills) or his limited knowledge of history, especially Germans. His reaction is hilarious when he wakes up to find himself in a car which has been hijacked by the kids. Even in his nearly indisposed state, he astonishes us by being the first one to enter the subterranean hellhole, because he has been tasked to “keep them safe”. Billy acts as a wake-up call to Steve. © Netflix In the start, Steve is quite narrow-minded and overly engrossed in himself, hardly caring for anyone. When Billy comes into the picture and gives him a taste of his own medicine, he gets to see himself in the “other guy”. via GIPHY The bully gets bullied. Billy is a reflection of Steve; be it the hair, the 80s mullet, the cavalier attitude or his penchant for sports and girls. via GIPHY He comes after for everything what Steve holds dear: his jock status, his captaincy, his ego, and his masculinity. (Side note: Billy seems to be quite attracted to Steve. Why do I think there's a love story a-brewing there? :P ) © Pinterest Sometimes, we do not see ourselves clearly and thus, are unaware of our own faults. Until someone else points it out to us, we remain ignorant. Steve Harrington holds a mirror to us; to the inner demons we face and the ones we run away from. And the ones we hide. Steve Harrington shows us that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover. He is a cautionary tale; a personification of the fact that we shouldn't bind people into stereotypes. Everyone is capable of change. No one is black or white, we are all shades of grey. And remember, that while using the Farah Fawcett Hair Spray, always apply it on damp hair. Not wet. Damp! (Till then, let's hope Steve survives Season 3) via GIPHY
  5. The final season of 'Game Of Thrones' might have been pushed further but the plethora of information that keeps coming our way has helped us manage the aching heart. The fate of all characters, the wall and the nightwalkers is something that has kept up biting our nails for too long now. © HBO In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke spilled a few beans and divulged some plot details of what is suppose to come up in the final season. The last season ended on a cliff hanger when the Night walkers started descending past the Wall. The opening episode will probably mirror the pilot episode of the show with Khaleesi's army arriving in the North, just like the first season began with King Robert's army marching. A lot of characters will meet who have previously not met. © HBO Everyone has to come together as they are facing a common enemy – the army of the dead and this collective danger will unite enemies and friends alike. Also, Sansa Stark will not be too happy to see that her brother bent the knee for his new lady love. Looks like it's going to get more gory and intense; after all, it is THE finale!
  6. Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie's Scottish wedding is no less than a royal wedding for their fans and people on social media. The two love bird who met on the sets of 'Game Of Throne' couldn't really culminate their on-screen romance as her character dies, however, the two made everyone really happy when they announced their engagement. An hour ago, the couple arrived for the wedding and looked very happy. 7. We know there's a massive void in your life since 'Game of Thrones' has ended… for now. Most of us are still taken aback by the various plot twists presented in the show, one of them being the astounding chemistry between Jon and Dany and we're really gonna miss them onscreen, till they're back again with a ‘bang'. But fret not GoT lovers and lurkers alike, we may not be seeing both of them together but we will sure as hell see Snow in a completely new avatar. © Pinterest Kit Harrington is going to be starring soon in a short BBC drama series called 'Gunpowder', which will be aired this autumn. It may not be as thrilling and nerve gripping as 'Game of Thrones' is for us but it's definitely going to take us back in time, again. The 17th century drama is centred on the Gunpowder plot which was an attempted assassination of King James I of England. It's not all that boring and we're sure that this series has its own set of plot twists too. Plus you get to see Kit, all over again. Also, did you know the main protagonist in the show, Robert Catesby, the leader of the Gunpowder plot is actually Kit Harrington's maternal descendant? No we're not kidding. We believe this and the fact that he looks hot as hell in sheepskin cloaks, strappy boots and sexy tunics and fedoras is the reason he was cast in the show in the first place. Don't get us wrong, we're not ruling out his acting abilities. Check out the teaser below © thought catalogue © Variety The trailer starts with Jon, oops we mean Robert Catesby narrating how his loved ones were killed and tortured and how his name was dragged through the mud and how he wishes to seek revenge by killing the king. Sounds really familiar doesn't it? Well we certainly hope we can pull away from Snow's character and give himself a chance to grow into Robert Catesby's character instead. Who really knows? Catesby might make such an impact that we might forget Snow, in the next two years. Yeah right, like that's ever gonna happen! © Daily Express Unsurprisingly though, people are quite stoked about this show and waiting with bated breath for its release.
