Vogue Magazine criticised for 'badly done' cover of Kamala Harris

Vogue is accused of "whitewashing" the vice-president-elect of the US, Kamala Harris -
Kamala Harris’ recent appearance on the cover of Vogue was supposed to break stereotypes. It was supposed to be a visual representation of all young women fighting towards equivalency in a male-dominated world for positions that were only handled by men. It especially was supposed to focus on women of color breaking the glass ceiling but instead, the cover became a topic of conversation after it allegedly ‘lightened Harris’ skin tone’. Kamala Harris the current United States Vice President who is the first woman in the history of America to hold the position of a VP. Also, she is the first woman of color to hold such a high political position in the US. The cover’s agenda was to celebrate that but now it is receiving flak on Twitter. Kamala Harris is about as light skinned as women of color come and Vogue still fvcked up her lighting. WTF is this washed out mess of a cover? pic.twitter.com/5O2q0axA0G — E. Vaughan (@HypeVaughan) January 10, 2021 In the cover, they not only lightened her skin colour, but also changed her dressing style which offended many people on social media. Here’s what people have to say about this- Wait that Kamala Vogue cover is real?! I thought it was fake—that’s how bad it is. Did they just ask her to send them photos her husband took or — ⚖️Imani Gandy ⚖️ (@AngryBlackLady) January 10, 2021 Is this real?.. looks like the pictures my mom forced me to take just to send to my grandma ... — 𝟞’𝟜 𝕚𝕣𝕝 (@DarkCollegeGuy) January 10, 2021 The lighting is poor, she doesn’t look fully made up and the quality of the photography and angle aren’t up to the standard of Vogue covers past. It just isn’t quality. pic.twitter.com/Sn6hDsr2QY — Brooke W (@MamaWetzel) January 10, 2021 Thanks for taking the time. Seeing other covers and then Kamala's, it seems so... muted? — C. (@OhCooley44) January 10, 2021 Some fashion magazine news.... 1. The February Vogue cover featuring VP-elect Kamala Harris has been widely criticized on social media this evening But according to a source familiar with the publication plans, this is not the cover that the Vice President-elect's team expected pic.twitter.com/lBC9DnfYNC — Yashar Ali (@yashar) January 10, 2021 Here’s 4 images of Kamala Harris that I had *saved in my phone* that are better than that Vogue cover. I’d say something about how women who exude power in ways that aren’t traditionally read as “feminine” get played in the media, and that’s true. But also Tops Deserve Better!! pic.twitter.com/L3Q8fE1dYh — Carmen Phillips (@carmencitaloves) January 10, 2021 However, it turns out Vogue magazine did not take permission before publishing this photo as the cover and even without her and her team’s consent. Just a few hours ago, among the frenzy of the US Presidential elections, a Twitter trend surprised everyone. Paneer tikka seemed to randomly become the topic of discussion and what's more surprising is that it is, in fact, related to the US elections. Let me explain, but first, let's jog our memories at what paneer tikka actually looks like. © Swiggy Pretty standard, right? Well, what if someone told you that they made paneer tikka and presented you with this. © Twitter/Pramila Jayapal That suspicious-looking dish started an entire debate online and it was hilarious. It started with Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal sharing the picture of the dish and saying that she made this comfort food in honour of Vice President candidate Kamala Harris. Compulsive, night-before-election activity: make comfort food. That’s paneer tikka tonight, in honor of electing #KamalaHarris Veep tomorrow since she just said on Instagram that her favorite North Indian food is any kind of tikka! Let’s go, people! VOTE! #BidenHarris2020 pic.twitter.com/gqyT7BotgG — Pramila Jayapal (@PramilaJayapal) November 3, 2020 All is well and good but where is the paneer tikka because that dish looks way too suspicious. Oops, there is an imposter among us. © Among Us And, when you do anything related to desi food, you're playing with fire, literally and figuratively. As soon as she tweeted the picture, people chimed in with random pictures of food, calling them by the wrong name. It became an entire thing and one of the most hilarious threads and trends we've seen recently. That dosa looks fluffy. I made a Masala Dosa tonight, in honor of electing #KamalaHarris Veep tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/UVAaz5EPN5 — BlueBlur (@blue_bhai) November 3, 2020 Anyone up for some naan? And here is Butter Naan to complement your Paneer Tikka. pic.twitter.com/12JrI9yE2c — Stay@happy (@RushmaR) November 3, 2020 You and me, both. That's paneer tikka? Damn, I need a refresher course for Indian cuisine! https://t.co/gaLkoJK5WU — Smita Barooah (@smitabarooah) November 3, 2020 Need some rasgullas after that plate of paneer tikka. This is rasgulla pic.twitter.com/Xrn8xJCE6e — आत्मनिर्भर Vinit (@vinit_2283) November 3, 2020 Hmm, I see it. Wrong, this is paneer tikka. pic.twitter.com/c1vMVwJwor — Shubham Sakhuja (@ishubhamsakhuja) November 3, 2020 Yum. Instead of eating paneer tikka, try these gulab jamuns https://t.co/1tejclrpEH pic.twitter.com/4WmoAB41lF — Moupiya 🇮🇳 (@imoupiya01) November 3, 2020 Didi is a nice touch. It's Kadai Paneer Didi https://t.co/5kvN6DuN48 — 𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒂 ♡★ (@sara_tweetsx) November 3, 2020 Wow.
