You may know Virat Kohli as the former India captain and a prolific batter but did you know that he could sing as well? Businessman Harsh Goenka took to Twitter to share an old video of Kohli in which he can be seen with a mic in his hand singing an old Bollywood song. Kohli is not the first one who had tried his hand at singing in front of an audience. Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina too has recorded a few songs which are available in public domain. After that tournament Kohli dominated world cricket, scoring runs for fun across formats. Harsh Goenka often tweets about various topics and sometimes, his focus shifts to cricket. His take on MS Dhoni when the former India captain was playing for his brother's franchise -- Rising Pune Supergiant earned him a lot of flak on social media back in the day. Harsh Goenka took to Twitter to ask fans two names who they think should be using CEAT as bat sponsors in the future. KL Rahul, who has been amongst the runs in the ongoing Test series against South Africa, got the chance to lead the Indian side after regular captain Virat Kohli was ruled out just before the toss of the second match due to an upper back spasm. KL Rahul led from the front on the opening day of the second Test with a gritty half-century on a day when other Indian batters failed to leave any mark. While fans praised the 29-year-old's fine knock, a few also noticed a rare sight -- India's stand-in skipper playing without any sponsor on his bat. A Twitter user posted a picture of Rahul where the India opener can be seen playing with a bat without any sponsorship stickers on the front of his willow. Co-owner of the Lucknow-based Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Harsh Goenka came up with a cryptic response to the tweet that left many wondering whether KL Rahul will lead Lucknow in IPL 2022. View this post on Instagram Rahul's emergence as a leader in the national setup can be a reason why the two new franchises will look to offer him captaincy, if they manage to pick him at the auction. The mega player auction is expected to be held next month where all the 10 teams will look to strengthen their squads. The existing eight franchises have already named their list of retained players and a few big names including the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not go under the hammer as they will play for their respective franchises -- Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. After a successful T20I series, the focus of Team India has now shifted to the longest format of the game. In the absence of regular Test skipper Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the side in the opening Test of the two-match series. While the selectors have shown faith in Rahane’s abilities both as a batter and a leader, some experts feel that he is “pretty fortunate” to make it to India's Test squad despite his inconsistency. © Reuters This statement came from none other than former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who was surprised that the selectors named someone like Rahane the leader of the squad, whose place in the starting line-up wasn’t guaranteed. Amidst all this, he also wished for Rahane to make this opportunity count and dismiss all the doubts over his credentials as a world-class Test batter. “I am going to open with Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul because he opened in England and then probably Shubman Gill will bat at No. 4. That's what I would want to see and plus Rahane is pretty fortunate that he's still part of this side because he's leading... But again he's got another opportunity now, hopefully, he can make that count,” Gambhir said on Star Sports’ Game Plan show. © Reuters Gambir is not the only expert to raise questions over Rahane’s selection. His former Delhi teammate Aakash Chopra too had his doubts over Rahane’s form and his spot in the Playing XI. “You have picked Ajinkya Rahane as the captain. But the truth is also that, let's be honest, there was a question about him being selected for the last Test against England if the match had happened,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel. Rahane’s recent form has been a huge cause of concern for the Indian team but he is not the only player who is struggling for runs. Several other middle-order players, including skipper Virat Kohli himself, haven’t scored runs on a consistent basis but most people seem to ignore that, including our experts. © Reuters However, a Twitter user took it upon himself to question Gambhir and his selective criticism. Taking to the micro-blogging site, he demanded an answer from the former opener and asked why he hadn’t used such strong words to analyse the performance of someone like Kohli, who hasn’t scored an international century in the last two years. The user didn’t stop there. He even accused Gambhir of criticising Rahane because he thought he would be a “soft target”. I want someone to ask @GautamGambhir, who has reportedly mentioned "Rahane is fortunate to still be in the Test team", if he'd say the same about Virat Kohli too, who, as someone reminded me today, hasn't scored an international 100 in two years! Rahane a soft target? — Arun Gopalakrishnan (@statanalyst) November 22, 2021 “I want someone to ask @GautamGambhir, who has reportedly mentioned "Rahane is fortunate to still be in the Test team", if he'd say the same about Virat Kohli too, who, as someone reminded me today, hasn't scored an international 100 in two years! Rahane a soft target?” the user tweeted. Supporting his claim, the user even shared the recent stats of both the batters, showing that both the players were going through a similar lean patch but pundits often tend to neglect Kohli’s poor form and make everyone else the scapegoat. © Reuters The user argued that since 2019, Rahane’s Test average has hovered around close to 37 while Kohli has a slightly better average of just over 39. Both the players have scored seven fifties each in the last two years but when it comes to three-figure mark Rahane has crossed it thrice while Kohli has managed only two Test hundreds since 2019. There’s no doubt Rahane didn’t perform to his potential during the England tour, where he scored only 109 runs in seven innings, with the help of a half-century. But we must not forget that Rahane was India’s highest run-getter in the inaugural World Test Championship cycle with 1,1159 runs at an average of nearly 43. Since 2019 Rahane averages 36.74, 3 * 100s & 7 * 50s Kohli averages 39.16, 2*100s & 7*50s — Arun Gopalakrishnan (@statanalyst) November 22, 2021Melbourne Test was a lucky knock? Thank you sir for educating me. — Arun Gopalakrishnan (@statanalyst) November 22, 2021I am no bhakt - being a very neutral observer here. Just want to understand why GG didn't pick on VK's poor recent form too, and mentioned only AR's name. — Arun Gopalakrishnan (@statanalyst) November 22, 2021if Kohli was leading india after 36 all out in australia , we would have lost that series by 4-0, it was @ajinkyarahane88 who led the team from front , with all inexperienced guys and made history ! Rahane needs confidence ! that’s it ! i am sure with no kohli , he will — prashant (@pra_shan_) November 22, 2021Along with Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, Rahane has been one of the mainstays of India’s Test batting line for several years and deserves more respect for everything that he has done for the team. Despite boasting one of the strongest squads, Team India’s journey in the T20 World Cup came to an early end as it bowed out of the muti-nation event despite registering three straight wins on the trot. The Men in Blue began their campaign with two humiliating losses against arch-rival Pakistan and New Zealand and most fans knew it was their marching orders. Since then, different people have given different excuses, some have put the blame on the bio-bubble fatigue for the team's downfall, while others have attacked the players for not playing to their potential. © Reuters But many believe that it’s nothing but an excuse to divert the attention from players’ lacklustre performance in the marquee competition. Many legends of the game like Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh have publicly said that in a huge tournament like the World Cup, there is no room for excuses. Both of them are of the opinion that the only reason why India was eliminated was because of their poor batting performance in the encounters that mattered the most, and rather than giving excuses the management should’ve acknowledged that. © Reuters While most cricket experts have failed to address the elephant in the room, legendary all-rounder and former India skipper Kapil Dev is the first high-profile name to address the main issue, without mincing any words. The skipper, under whom India became world champions for the first time, was disappointed with the fact that our players 'didn’t take pride in playing for the country and prioritised IPL over T20 World Cup'. “When players prioritise IPL over playing for the country, what can we say? Players should take pride in playing for their nation. I don't know their financial condition so can't say much,” Kapil Dev said during an interaction on ABP News. “I feel that first in line should be the country's team and then franchises. I'm not saying do not play cricket there (IPL), but the responsibility is now on the BCCI to plan its cricket better,” he added. © Twitter/ICC Even fans agreed with the former all-rounder and blamed the players for their own downfall. They praised the legend for speaking against the players and showing them the mirror by highlighting their hypocrisy. Finally someone showed power to speak against BCCI. Thank you Kapil Dev sir for busting the current Indian players who prefer IPL over Nation's Cricket. They have been playing IPL from past 1 month, still unable to even reach Semifinals. — सूरज (@AnIndianBoi) November 8, 2021That's true. IPL is killing international cricket. Players of other boards are also preferring IPL over their national cricket team for money and fame. This a very unhealthy practice for the future of cricket . — Vivek (@KrVivek79) November 8, 2021Now the management(Arun, Ravi shastri and others) are blaming of fatigue and bio bubble.. these players are getting highest of the facilities and even their family is staying with them 24/7. If they were that much worried of fatigue, they should ve made way for others players. — Akshay.Upadhye (@AksayTweets4SSR) November 8, 2021Finally someone is bold enough to speak out truth.. — Yogesh Kumar (@doctoryogesh82) November 8, 2021It's actually true... Compare their performances in IPL and ICC you'll know! — Sim (@simsunner18) November 8, 2021 Players knew the schedule in advance and if they were this worried about the physical and mental burnout they should have pulled out their names from the IPL. Nobody forced them to feature in the IPL but they decided to play in the league owing to the hefty paychecks that they receive from their franchises. Knowing everything, they made the decision to play in the second leg of the IPL and it doesn’t make any sense when they come up with excuses to cover up for their disappointing run in the tournament. Being a celebrity has its perks and perils. They get immense love from their fans on one hand, while on the other hand, they are mercilessly trolled by the public for trivial things, even when they are right. Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor recently became the target of trolls on Twitter for doling out an advice on the festival of Diwali. © Instagram/Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor He slammed people who burst firecrackers, saying that it is bad for the environment, scares his pets and makes everyone uncomfortable at home. Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor Revealed Producers Asked Him To ‘Sound Dumb’ In Interviews
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor recently revealed that he was asked to ‘sound dumb’ in his interviews by film producers. He also recalled that after his debut film Mirzya, he always kept his guard up a little bit but before that he was always transparent and very honest. Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is the son of actor Anil Kapoor and made his acting debut with the film Mirzya in 2016. The film was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and also starred Saiyami Kher. View this post on Instagram In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Harsh Varrdhan said, "After Mirzya, I feel I always had my guard up a little bit. I was very open to talk and transparent and be very honest and sit down and have a normal chat. But after Mirzya I realized that I have to be a little conscious to what I say. When I sit down for an interview, I like to be honest but it’s up to the person on the other end of the interview to be able to say that ‘this guy is being honest and coming from a good place, he is confiding in me, so I also need to take care of him.” View this post on Instagram He added, “Also, it was the fact that I was doing off-beat cinema. People have so much love for Anil Kapoor, that they have expectations that you have to be a certain way. As soon as you are different and embrace that individuality, it’s not going to be accepted right away. It would be naive to think that. Some producers told me that I need to sound dumb in my interviews. They told me that I come across as too intelligent and I am going to alienate the audience." Harsh Varrdhan was also recently seen in the Netflix anthology series, Ray. He played the role of a self-involved film star named Vik. It also featured Radhika Madan and Chandan Roy Sanyal. So I think I am very inspired by his journey. I don't think I have the kind of strength and determination that Arjun has." © Twitter/Arjun_FC In a recent interview, Arjun even spoke about how Boney Kapoor's decision to remarry affected him. He mentioned that he has himself gone through some personal anguish and trauma. It was hard for Arjun since his father was a high profile man and the woman he was in love with was a big superstar. Arjun added, "Growing up as a kid I had to go through the separation of parents...At that point, it was very hard because my father was a high profile man...and the woman he chose to be with was the biggest superstar India has seen if you combine perhaps all the stardom of all the young actors today you would have her star status. Honestly, initially, I didn’t want to ask for help so I thought whatever I have let me sell that and once I get work, things will get back to normal. In fact, once I had to travel with a cushion on my chest as I was not supposed to travel in that condition. The doctor had clearly told me, you will do it at your own risk. Since the stitches were still there, I had to carry a cushion and hold it all the time. It assumes women whose spouses get rich have their eyes more on alimony. — Kartikeya Tanna (@KartikeyaTanna) May 17, 2021Pity the mindset.... Very regressive... By the way, both the ladies are equally capable and financially independent. Everything is not about money. And divorce is always painful.. No matter how amicable it is... — proud indian (@happyindiandoc) May 17, 2021That’s really in a bad taste. There’s no gyaan in it, neither it’s funny. — simran (@simranxsays) May 17, 2021Surprisingly, his ill-timed tweet comes at a time when fresh revelations have come to light regarding Bill Gates having "inappropriate" sexual affairs during his marriage with Melinda. Both Bezos and Gates had divorce papers served to them because they were cheating not because their wives wanted alimony. — "Yamrajendra Modi" Lion (@Loquacious_Lion) May 17, 2021 In Jeff Bezos' case, he initiated the divorce as he was having an affair. His wife was instrumental to him amassing that kind of wealth. Moral of the story -- women need to build their own empires and not bother with such faithless men! Also, blocking you for your vile views. — Radhika Mukherjee (@radhikaherself) May 18, 2021It appears Bill Gates was preying on women in his office and was also had a disturbingly close relationship with a paedophile. New York Times says the relationship with the paedophile is what bothered Melinda Gates. You don’t think those are serious issues? — Rohini Singh (@rohini_sgh) May 17, 2021It looked like Goenka certainly did not do his homework before coming up with the tweet and was left red-faced by Twitter users who absolutely schooled him. Oh! I didn’t know that. — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) May 17, 2021 Finally, someone came up with a valuable piece of advice for the industrialist. Take my advice.... delete this tweet..... — ash (@ashlesha11) May 17, 2021 Maybe, it's not too late to eat that last slice of humble pie, Harsh? View the full article
