  5. The recent trend of films in India has seen the merging of the Bollywood film industry with the films industries of the South. So far, there has been a clear distinction between Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and others ruling over the Mumbai-based industry and South superstars ruling over Tamil and Telugu cinema. © Instagram However, that line has since then been erased in mutual interest with Samantha Prabhu's role in The Family Man becoming one of the turning points. Now, whether you see Shah Rukh Khan working with director Atlee or Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn working in Rajamouli's RRR, the crossover is happening for real and it looks like it's here to stay. Another example is Indian sensation Rashmika Mandanna who is now all set to work with Ranbir Kapoor in Animal. The current scenario has seen superstars like Allu Arjun and Vijay Devarakonda both joining hands with Bollywood biggies in order to garner more eyeballs. © Dharma Productions With that being said, there is another really big and influential South Indian superstar who fans want to see in Bollywood as well. It's none other than Telugu Cinema heartthrob Mahesh Babu! © Instagram With so many biggies planning to work in other film industries, you can only wonder when Mahesh Babu will be making his big bow in Bollywood. However, it looks like the superstar has chosen to reject the advances of Bollywood in order to do just Telugu films, something that he really, really likes. Speaking at an event earlier, Mahesh Babu said, "I don't need to do Hindi films. I can just do a Telugu film and it'll get seen all over the world - that's what's happening right now. You would want to be in a position where you do only Telugu films." Mahesh Babu Reply To Media About His Bollywood Entry. pic.twitter.com/T8iJlJ1487 — Naveen MB Vizag (@NaveenMBVizag) April 6, 2022 That is honestly some statement made by the actor, who is loved all around the country for his work in films and for his philanthropy. It can be said that a star of his stature would have been a great addition to Bollywood, with Mahesh Babu one person who can get a lot of eyeballs to theatre using his charisma and star power. The actor, who made his acting debut aged four, has already signed a movie with RRR director S S Rajamouli. View the full article
  6. After a series of flops and mediocre successes, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri changed the course of his career with the 2017 film The Tashkent Files that turned out to be a sleeper hit. And with his latest release, The Kashmir Files, the filmmaker delivered not just the biggest blockbuster of his career but one of the biggest hits in the Hindi film industry as well. The film starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar has collected over Rs 230 crore at the box office, so far, and continues to perform well even in its third week. © Zee Studios Vivek, who is basking in the success of the film, recently revealed in an interview a lesser-known aspect of his life. He talked about his equation with star Varun Dhawan and went on to praise the young actor. The director opened up about the time when Varun helped him in a big way when nobody did and added that he owes a lot to the Badlapur star. Vivek told Siddharth Kannan, “I love Varun. I owe a lot to Varun. And I don’t want to speak on camera, it’s between me and him. He helped me at a time when nobody in this world was helping me, and quietly. He is a great soul. I wish he, I don’t know about stardom and all, I wish he always remains happy and very successful. He is a great boy, I love him. I am not saying this because I want to do a film with him. My eyes are also getting moist, because he had helped me at a time when I couldn’t have expected at all that a person like him would help me.” © Instagram/Varun Dhawan Watch the video below: A few days back, Varun Dhawan took to Instagram stories and praised The Kashmir Files. He wrote, “One of the most hard-hitting films ever made with incredible performances. Every technician has excelled. Anupam Kher deserves all the awards. @DarshanKumaar #pallavijoshi, #mithun sir and the director @vivekagnihotri”. This isn’t all, Darshan Kumar also revealed in an interview with Siddharth Kannan that Varun had even contacted him post watching the film. He said, “Varun Dhawan contacted me. He loved my performance.” View the full article
  7. MS Dhoni is one of the 14 batters who have scaled the 10,000-run mountain in One-Day International cricket. The fact that he played the majority of his cricket at number five and six and still managed to score so many speaks volumes of his ability with the bat. Not just in ODIs, even in the shortest format of the game, Dhoni left his mark as one of the greatest of all times. During his international career, Dhoni managed to win every ICC trophy on offer as India captain. While his leadership skills are second to none, his ability to finish off games time and again is what made him a legend of the game. Here’s a look at some of the major knocks that made Dhoni a modern-day legend: 1. 45 Not Out vs Sri Lanka, Tri-Series Final 2013 Dhoni's Special OnThisDay in 2013, India reqd 15 runs to win off final over (1 wicket in hand) against Sri Lanka to win the Tri Series Final. However, MS Dhoni had other plans, In the final over India still needed 15 runs for the win with just one wicket in hand. Dhoni failed to make a connection on the first ball but deposited the next over the bowler's head for a maximum. The third ball went for a through the point region and the wicket-keeper batter smashed the next delivery over extra cover to pull off a heist and help India to clinch the tri-series title. 2. 44 Not Out vs Australia in Adelaide 2012 India failed to win the tri-series in Australia in 2012 involving Sri Lanka. However, in one of the matches, MS Dhoni once again took the onus on himself to finish the game and he did it in style. The visitors had lost their sixth wicket with just eight balls left in the match and they were still 13 runs behind the target. Dhoni got the strike in the final over when India needed 12 off four deliveries and he smashed Clint Mckay straight down the ground for a huge six to put the pressure back on the hosts. Dhoni was caught at square leg off the next delivery but it was a no-ball and he came charging back for a second run to retain the strike. The India captain pulled the next ball behind square and picked up three runs to seal the win for India. 3. 72 Not Out vs Pakistan in Lahore in 2006 View the full article

  9. Virat Kohli's love for fitness is not hidden from anyone and it won't be wrong if we say that he should be given all the credit to take Team India's fitness to a different level since he took over the reins from former captain MS Dhoni. It is not just his physical fitness but Kohli's mental toughness too is second to none. The 33-year-old led India across formats for over five years but he did not let the burden of captaincy affect his batting as he smashed records for fun during his stint at the helm. BREAKING: After seven years at the helm, Virat Kohli has stepped down as India’s Test captain. pic.twitter.com/0aZzSUvEYq — ICC (@ICC) January 15, 2022 Kohli announced himself at the international stage in his very first World Cup game as he slammed an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in Dhaka back in 2011. During the tournament, everyone is well aware of the health condition of Yuvraj Singh who was diagnosed with cancer but carried on and won player of the tournament as India ended its 28-year-long wait for the World Cup title. .@imVkohli got the 2011 CWC off to a flier with a 83 ball century. WATCH the innings here: http://t.co/mC3w9FXit7 pic.twitter.com/F3LLEtPqg7 — ICC (@ICC) November 23, 2014 However, not many know that Kohli too was battling pain as he took the field in the semi-final game against arch-rivals Pakistan. Team India's former physio Ashish Kaushik lavished praise on Kohli's pain endurance ability while sharing an anecdote from the 2011 World Cup semi-final. Kaushik said Kohli knows how to play through pain and while some players react differently to pain as compared to others, Kohli is someone who always looks for solutions to make it work. CONFIRMED: @imVkohli will not play for Surrey after suffering a neck injury playing for RCB. He will undertake a fitness Test on 15th June, and is expected to be fit for India's tours of Ireland and England. pic.twitter.com/923ubTK7se — ICC (@ICC) May 24, 2018 "His pain tolerance is phenomenal. Some players get affected by pain more than others - pain being a subjective marker - but Kohli has got a tremendous ability to endure pain and look for solutions. I remember he had some neck and jaw pain before the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali but he would take everything extremely, extremely lightly, and somehow know that he can work through it," Kaushik was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. While other players were competing with each other within the cricket community in terms of being the fittest athlete across the world, Kohli always had a bigger vision and he was looking up to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic and worked towards becoming one of the fittest across the sports fraternity. "He would look up to Djokovic, Ronaldo. Those were the people he was comparing his fitness to. Not to the other players within the fraternity of cricket, but he was looking at the fittest guys in the field of sport. That's where he wanted to see himself," he added. Image 1 Kohli's desire to challenge himself and his ability to endure pain makes him a different kind of a beast and we are glad to have witnessed him at the peak of his power as he dominated world cricket. 10. Nothing has hurt Bollywood more than the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. With actors getting Covid-19, shoots getting delayed every now and then, and movies not being able to release, Bollywood's insane earnings have really gone down crazily. However, amid all the gloom and losses that the industry has had to incur, there is one Bollywood movie that came and shined unlike any other. Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi. © Netflix The film, that opened up a new Marvel-like Cop-universe, really got the numbers up at the box office with people flooding the theatres to go and watch the movie. Such an insane turn up had not been seen for some time ever since the start of the pandemic. However, Sooryavanshi did it. Why? Well, while, of course, the storyline and the action sequences were pretty decent in the film, one of the main reasons behind the success of the film was its lead actor Akshay Kumar. © Netflix Not many actors connect to the audience with their Desi street-smartness quite like Akshay Kumar. The actor, who is really the action-god of Bollywood, is big star power in the industry and gets the fans hooting and laughing unlike any other star in Bollywood. As a result, while many films failed at the box office, Akshay's Sooryavanshi got crazy box office success. Now, this formula may indeed get repeated with Akshay being chosen for the upcoming Bade Miyan Chote Miyan sequel alongside Tiger Shroff. © Instagram/Tiger Shroff And to make this happen, Bollywood's Mr Khiladi is being paid a crazy sum of money, a fee that has been, so far, unheard of in the industry. As per Bollywood Life, Akshay is charging a staggering, record-breaking sum of Rs 165-170 Crores for the film. "Akshay has apparently hiked his fee for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, demanding an eye-popping, jaw-dropping, unheard of Rs. 165-170 crore for the project from father-son producer duo Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, whose Pooja Films had financed the original 1998 movie and will also be bankrolling the new version." The report further states that the makers of the film have given in to his demand as they want to continue their collaboration with Akshay, after having worked with him on Bell Bottom and another movie that is currently planned for the future. In Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2, which is the sequel to the original 1998 film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, Akshay, and Tiger's characters will be based on Amitabh and Govinda's actual characters. © Prime Video The movie will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar under their banner, Pooja Films. 11. We'd known for a while that India had caught on to the Allu Arjun fever since the release of the Telugu superstar's latest blockbuster movie Pushpa. But it looks like the fever has now hit the shores outside of the country as well. © BCCL Turns out Allu Arjun's charm is not only restricted to his fans in India but across the whole world, where people just love watching him and his movies. The newest fan that Allu looks to have made is Australian cricketer David Warner. © Reuters For all the non-cricket fans out here, David is a left-handed opening batsman and is a former captain of the Australian international team. Now, you can totally imagine the kind of impact Allu has on people, with top sportsmen too, having a liking to the acting guru. Well, for all the people who don't know, David is a keen admirer of Indian movies and people familiar with him know that he often treats his fans to videos of him enjoying and dancing to Hindu and Telugu movies and songs. The 35-year-old cricketer began as an Indian film fanatic during his time at the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is there where he developed a huge fan following that included people who didn't even watch cricket. Coming to the present, it appears that the release of Allu's Pushpa has certainly struck a chord with him and he even asked his fans where he should dance to Allu's song ‘Eyy Bidda Idhi Naa Adda’ in the film. Uploading a picture of Allu dancing to the song in Pushpa, on Instagram, Warner asked, “Should I try one of the dance moves from #pushpa ??” View this post on Instagram To this question, Warner received a big, wonderful response from fans who clearly love him as well as Allu Arjun. Just a week ago on December 30, Warner actually posted a six-second reel on Instagram, where he even lip-synced to one of the dialogues from Pushpa. He recreated the scene in Allu Arjun's iconic style. View this post on Instagram To his surprise, even Allu reposted the video and said, “Warner … David Warner … Yevva…Thaggede Le" said Allu. © Instagram Amazing, right? By the looks of it, this is one bromance that we just can't get enough of! I mean, in all honesty, cricket plus movies are one combination that all Indians absolutely love. Keep going strong, Allu and David! We love you. View the full article
  12. Men love sneakers. That's just a universal fact. Even if you consider yourself to be a style renegade, you cannot deny that when you see a nice pair of sneakers, especially if they have a hint of something fluorescent or have a little weird silhouette, you turn to take a good hard look at them. © iStock Now, given how loaded our B-Towners are, it should not come as a surprise that we have often seen them wear some of the quirkiest, and the zaniest pairs ever. We'll go as far as to say that this decade has been the decade of sneakers. If you haven't been spotted wearing a noteworthy pair, then you haven't been spotted. It's that simple. © Instagram/diljitdosanjh That being said, there are a few sneakerheads and hypebeasts who stand head and shoulders above the rest. And surprisingly, he isn't even a fulltime B-Towner. Diljit Dosanjh's choice of sneakers is as dapper as it can be. For someone who does not have a stylist, and buys all his stuff on his own, we have to say that his choices easily get him a solid A+ when it comes to sneakers. © Instagram/diljitdosanjh Here are some of the most insanely cool pair of sneakers we have seen him wear over the year. Mind you though, saying that they are pricey, would be grossly understating the fact. 1. Versace Zebra Print Chain Reaction Sneakers © Instagram/diljitdosanjh We begin with these pair from Versace. Retailing for Rs. 75,300 when converted, these sneakers have a very quirky print and silhouette which goes really well with the hipster vibe that Diljit usually goes for. We also cannot help but notice the luggage from Off-White that he's posing with, in this image. Talk about being a hypebeast! 2. Versace's Burgundy Chain Reaction Velvet Sneakers © Instagram/diljitdosanjh A different iteration of the Zebra prints, these sneakers with the velvet finish retail for about Rs. 76,000 when converted. The thing that sets the Burgundy apart from the zebra print one is the zany manner in which the orange and red camouflage and the red coloured upper mesh sit really well together. 3. Off-white X Nike Air Force 1 Low Volt © Instagram/diljitdosanjh There was no way that a pair from Off-White wouldn't have been on the list. And indeed, what a quirky pair it is. The neon green Off-white X Nike Air Force 1 Lows retail for about Rs. 57,000, and can often be found for going for much higher on sneaker trading sites. Plus, we really like the way in which Diljit has paired the sneakers with his flashy and loud outfit, with its super aggressive branding. 4. Prada Cloudbust Sneakers In Orange © Instagram/diljitdosanjh And then we have these pair of Orange Cloudbust Sneakers from Prada. Retailing for just under Rs. 53,000 when converted, these sneakers have a very futuristic vibe. That being said, they are certainly in a league of their own, given the neat lines and rather a simplistic silhouette. And the choice to pair it with a neon tracksuit from Prada, is simply genius. 5. Dior Homme B22 Sneakers In White © Instagram/diljitdosanjh One of the chunkiest white sneakers that we have seen anyone wear this year, the B22 from Dior Hommes come in a number of variants, all of which have rather unique and head-turning accents. That being said, they have an understated finesse about themselves. Retailing for about Rs. 77,000, these are definitely the way to go, if you're thinking of going for white chunky sneakers. 6. Balenciaga Triple S In Beige And Grass Green © Instagram/diljitdosanjh Diljit is a huge fan of all things Balenciaga. This is just one of the many Balenciagas that you can see him wear. Just take a look at his Instagram profile, focusing on his sneakers and you'll see that he has a pair in black, another beige pair in yellow, and another beige pair in red and white. Oh, and don't forget all those Balenciaga jackets and sweats that he loves. The price of these particular sneakers? Rs. 64,000. 7. Christian Louboutin Iridescent Orlato © Instagram/diljitdosanjh We have seen a number of celebs wearing the Orlatos from Christian Louboutin, but none of those pairs hold a candle to the pair that Diljit is wearing. A mesmerising mix between an iridescent pair and one with spikes, these pair of Louboutins retail for a hefty Rs. 80,000. View the full article
  13. In just over a couple of hours, the Indian Cricket team will start a new chapter in the shortest format, under the able guidance of newly-appointed skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. © Reuters The Men In Blue will look to shrug off the T20 World Cup heartbreak when they go up against New Zealand, who are fresh off their final loss to Australia, in the first match of the T20I series Jaipur. Those who saw Rohit playing cricket at a young age knew he was a “special talent”. The new head coach Dravid said the same thing when asked about his first memory of Rohit during their first joint press conference on the eve of the series opener against the Kiwis. © Reuters In international cricket, nothing came easy to the ‘The Hitman’. The 34-year-old opener made his international debut back in 2007 but couldn’t cement his place in the side for the first six years. He spent, read wasted, all those years batting in the middle and lower-middle order and couldn’t deliver on his true potential. After failing for six long years, the 2013 Champions Trophy proved to be a turning point in his career that changed everything for good. He was among the highest run-getters in the tournament, alongside his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, and he has never looked back since. © Reuters Despite proving his leadership credentials in the IPL and guiding Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, many of his fans believe that he got Team India’s full-time captaincy a bit late, perhaps by a couple of years, if not more. However, watching their talisman attend the press conference as India’s full-time captain in the shortest format on Tuesday, his fans were over the moon and they celebrated the occasion by expressing their happiness on social media. © Reuters As the celebrations were going on an old tweet of Rohit from almost a decade back started doing rounds on the internet and people were left surprised how perfectly it fit the current context. Back in 2012, Rohit had travelled to Jaipur for a Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan after being appointed as the captain of domestic giants Mumbai. However, despite its greatest moments that go right into the history books, the fact remains that it still is a ruthless competition. © Reuters Athletes from across the world put in their entire lives' worth of blood, sweat and tears into having a shot at that prestigious gold medal to mark themselves and their nations' name to glory. Unfortunately, however, at the end of the day, every competition has just one winner, and only he or she gets gold. Indian wrestling champion Ravi Kumar Dahiya was that person who only had his sights on the iconic gold medal, and nothing less than that. © Twitter/Sachin Tendulkar During his time at the Olympics and the preps before it, the star wrestler didn't even have a cellphone on him to talk to his parents, just so that he wouldn't get distracted from his path of getting to the gold, which his nation deeply craved. However, it's very tight margins at the absolute top, and sadly, he lost out on the gold in the final of 57-kg class to two-time world champion Zavur Uguev in the 7-4 verdict. © Reuters After the match, Ravi appeared to look very grim despite winning a spectacular silver medal for his country.
