  1. Heartwarming videos show animals being stuck hopelessly while people come to their rescue which shows humanity prevailing in these hard times
  2. Remembering Bilquis's selfless work, a woman named Rabia Osman shared how she was given a name, identity and a new life
  3. Marking the directorial debut of Hitesh Bhatia, Sharmaji Namkeen is Rishi Kapoor’s swansong, his final appearance in a film and it will surely leave you with a smile on your face by the end of it. The movie is about a retired BG Sharma (Rishi Kapoor & Paresh Rawal) who is 58-years-old and tries different things to keep himself occupied until one day he realises that cooking is his true passion. He has two sons (Suhail Nayyar & Taaruk Raina) who are often busy in their own lives leaving Sharmaji to himself. After realising his passion for cooking, Sharmaji starts leading a dual life without telling his family. But one day, his secret is revealed and what happens next forms the rest of the story. © Amazon Prime Video This is probably the first time in Hindi cinema that the main character in the film is played by two different actors. Initially, it becomes a bit confusing but once you get used to it, Sharmaji Namkeen wins you over as an audience. It is a unique coming of age story of a senior citizen and takes you through a range of emotions. The screenplay is laced with humour, drama, some over the top scenes towards the end and a lot of heart. And what works even more than its narrative is its well-written characters and seamless editing. There are certain scenes where Rishi Kapoor goes into a house and Paresh Rawal comes out and you buy it because of both the actors’ earnest performance and director Hitesh Bhatia’s execution. There is a sequence in particular where Rishi Kapoor’s character watches a video of himself on TV. Interestingly, the video features Paresh Rawal. © Amazon Prime Video Coming to the performances, if not for anything, watch this movie for Rishi Kapoor’s final act. He was such a beautiful actor and it’s hard not to fall in love with his character. Paresh Rawal had a tough task ahead as he had to not only take over from where Rishi Kapoor left but also had to be in sync with the kind of performance the legendary star was going for. And he has done a commendable job. As I mentioned above, it didn’t feel like after a point that there were two different actors playing the same role. It was good to see Juhi Chawla in a meatier role after ages. She is as good as she was back in the day and even better. Suhail Nayyar plays his character well and his equation with Rishi Kapoor/ Paresh Rawal is the highlight. Taaruk Raina provides good support and so does an always outstanding Sheeba Chaddha and a brilliant Satish Kaushik. © Amazon Prime Video Overall, Sharmaji Namkeen is a little film with a lot of heart that will leave you with a smile. P.S.: The end credits of the film features outtakes of Rishi Kapoor and it is simply heart-warming. View the full article
  4. If youâre March or April-born, you have our condolences - changes are that youâve missed being able to celebrate your birthday this year. Itâs been particularly upsetting for senior citizens, many of whom have expressed feelings of isolation and loneliness during the lockdown period. Fortunately, one resident of Panchkula, Haryana found himself overwhelmed and overjoyed to find a birthday party of sorts held in his honour - by the local police department! Interactions with Police is always emotional - be it fear, anger , anxiety or gratitude. But I have never seen such overwhelming emotional burst . A police officer comforted the man by saying âWeâre your family too,â before allowing him to cut his cake. IPS Nain captions the video, saying, "Interactions with Police is always emotional - be it fear, anger, anxiety or gratitude. But I have never seen such an overwhelming emotional burst. 5. A lot of places across the globe saw massive uncontrollable wildfires. These wildfires also made a lot of people evacuate their houses and caused a lot of destruction to the wildlife and eventually, death of animals. In the Australia wildfire that is still not under control, hundreds of koalas died and hundreds are still in danger, nearing death every day. Volunteers, along with the fire department of the affected places, tried to save as many wildlife and animals as possible. Recently among other surfaced videos on the internet from the wildfires, this one caught everyone's attention. IFS Susanta Nanda took to her Twitter to share a video of a baby bear that was rescued from the fire and refused to leave the person behind who saved him. Watch the video here: Angels are ordinary people with god's power. A baby bear refuses to leave the angel who rescued it from forest fireâºï¸ pic.twitter.com/5sgsiNCtf5 — Susanta Nanda IFS (@susantananda3) December 18, 2019 Nanda shared the video writing, “Angels are ordinary people with god's power. A baby bear refuses to leave the angel who rescued it from a forest fire.” In the video, one can see the baby bear hugging the rescuer's leg and he is clinging to his leg so tightly that one can almost tell just from looking that the baby bear is thanking the rescuer for saving its life. The rescuer is seen loosening the baby bear's grip but the bear runs back to him. The video is heartwarming and shows how the wildfires have disturbed the wildlife. The volunteers are also lauded by the netizens on the internet for their kindness and for making heroic efforts. View the full article
  6. In what initially felt like a show completely run by the home team, Rajasthan Royals, the young guns of Delhi Capitals were successful in snatching the win from right under their noses as opener Prithvi Shaw and keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant along with veteran Shikhar Dhawan shine in the second innings of the match. The Capitals looked in the winning attitude ever since the beginning and an impressive to of 191 felt like a rather comfortable chase, especially with the kind of opening partnership established by two of the more talented batsmen who have represented Team India in the past. With Shaw's strategic yet powerful batting and Dhawan's brutal beating, the duo was able to post a 50-run partnership in less than six overs. .@SDhawan25 REACHES HIS FOURTH FIFTY OF THIS @IPL SEASON! ðª GABBAR, WE LOVE YOU! ð#RRvDC #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals pic.twitter.com/43h5MaIgyV — Delhi Capitals (@DelhiCapitals) April 22, 2019 Once Gabbar was dismissed by keeper Sanju Samson in a cheeky stumping and Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer was forced to leave the pitch early, it was Rishabh Pant's time to hold the fort with his buddy, Shaw. The 19-year-old continued to stick to the crease for enough time for Pant to comfortably settle in, while also scoring at his own pace to keep the contest at hand. Scoring 78 off just 36 balls, Pant played a brilliant match-winning knock and was rewarded for his performance with the 'Man of the Match' award as the two went on to establish a 53-run-partnership in 31 balls. The camaraderie was seen yet again when the duo was asked to interview one another after the match. “I was really confident because you (Prithvi) were also playing by my side. I thought we would finish the game together,” Pant told his teammate. Pant also described the winning moment when he finished the game with a six and the team's special advisor, Sourav Ganguly lifted him in celebration. Rishabh pant â¦@RishabPant777â© â¦@ParthJindal11â© u deserve this .. u r wow pic.twitter.com/tTYgWrZZpH — Sourav Ganguly (@SGanguly99) April 22, 2019 “He (Ganguly) wanted me to finish a good match for the team and when it finally happened, it was a great experience, especially when Sourav sir lifted me up,” Pant told Shaw. With the heroic display of “showing up in the crunch”, the young duo helped their franchise reach atop the IPL Points Table, going two points ahead of the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings. The same team that ranked last in the league a year ago, are at the top now. Maybe changing their name did bring them good luck, huh?
  7. We've seen so many pictures that were clicked right before catastrophe struck and half the time they're chilling and the rest of the time they're funny. Now, there's a picture that's going viral that was clicked just an hour before the Notre Dame Cathedral fire started and it's going viral for all the right reasons. Brooke Windsor managed to capture a beutiful moment right in front of Notre Dame and clicked a heartwarming picture of what seems like a father and daughter playing around and having fun. While it is already an adorable picture, what makes it special was that it was clicked about an hour before the terrible fire occured at the historical place. I took this photo as we were leaving #NotreDame about an hour before it caught on fire. I almost went up to the dad and asked if he wanted it. Now I wish I had. Ever since she shared this on Twitter, the picture and the tweet and have gone viral with everyone trying to help out in any way they can, even if it's just a retweet. 8. Jammu voted yesterday, in its first phase of the Lok Sabha elections and while it all went smoothly, there was more to casting votes in that space. There was unity and love amidst people while the elections were on and we know this because an 83-year-old woman by the name of Satya Devi came to cast her vote and the CRPF soldiers walked quietly with her, holding her hand while she was on her way to the ballots. As the elderly woman was preparing to step on the ramp, the CRPF jawan told her 'dheere dheere aaiye', making it a remarkably endearing moment in the history of Jammy casting votes. With his demise at the age of 67, Indian cinema has lost a precious gem. As people poured tributes over social media mourning the passing of the legend, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar remember the time he first met Tom Alter. 12. Johnny Crow received an incredible surprise for his 16th birthday. When he got his Dean Razorback guitar, he was in disbelief and after realizing it was a birthday gift from his late father, he was heartbroken and elated at the same time. While talking to The Times Herald, he said, "I was definitely overjoyed that my father gave me one last thing to remember him by. I know a lot of kids don't get that." His father passed away at the age of 49 following a heart attack on April 1. To make things even more heart-breaking and traumatic, Johnny was with his dad when he had the heart attack and tried to resuscitate him with CPR to no avail. With Johnny’s birthday approaching, his sister was contacted recently by the music centre of her father's birthday purchase. She was told their father had ordered the guitar in January to ensure he got the exact model his son wanted for his 16th birthday. She made a video of her brother receiving his special birthday gift and shared it on Facebook, where the heart touching clip started going viral. A lot of people commented on the video with positive and supportive messages for him and his family and shared stories of their own losses along with wishing Johnny a happy birthday. Johnny said that these kind messages and the stories of grief have helped him cope with this tragedy. "It's a very different experience seeing your hero on his deathbed. It's good to feel you're not alone in this," Johnny said. He shared a special bond with his dad through music. "I discovered music and it was amazing how it made me feel," he said. "It made that sadness go away, it made me more like my father who I so inspired to be." © The Times Herald "He said he'd be famous one day," his sister recalled her father saying of her brother.
  13. Never ever in our wildest dreams (or nightmares) we would even think about smoking up with any of our family members, especially grandparents, but this guy smoked up with his good old grandma and it actually turned out to be really hilarious. © YouTube Andrew, and his grandmother Helen, stopped by “Strange Buds” from Cut Video where she had her first experience smoking weed. And for someone who has never smoked up before, Helen sure seems like a pro. The funny thing is that Andrew was struggling and coughing quite a bit, but his grandma was just straight up chilling and she basically finishes the whole joint by herself. © YouTube Then, Andrew decides he wants to ask his grandma some questions and for some reason he decides to ask Helen if she has ever watched pornography. Seriously, no one wants to know that about their parents or grandparents, and when she quickly replied she would sit with her female neighbour and watch porn, his only reaction was "What the f***?!". Well, you brought this on yourself, Andrew! No, Helen don’t do that! © YouTube Coolest grandma ever? © YouTube Honestly, it looked like Andrew and Helen had a lot of fun getting high together. Would you ever attempt to try this with your grandmother?
  14. This is the kind of story that wells up the eyes and makes you feel choked with emotion. This is the kind of tale that makes you believe in the infinite kindness that humanity is capable of. Sir Nicholas Winston, a British stockbroker, saved 669 Jewish children from Nazi death camps during The Holocaust. Putting his life in great danger, Winston organized the safe passage of the children from Prague to Britain by train. Reminds one of Ranjit Katyal’s character from ‘Airlift’, inspired by the real-life hero Sunny Matthew, doesn’t it? © AP But the man never said a word about it to anyone, not even his wife. As they say, do a good deed and forget about it. But as they also say, a good deed never goes unnoticed. Years later, his wife Grete found a briefcase in their attic that had records of all the children he had saved – their and their parents’ names and the information of the families that had taken them in. © Channel 5 So great was this man’s heroic tale, he was not only knighted by the Queen of England in 2003, he also earned the nickname of ‘Britain’s Schindler’ (after Oscar Schindler who saved the lives of hundreds of Jews during Holocaust and on whom the movie ‘Schindler’s List’ is based). He died at the age of 106 in 2015. An old episode of BBC’s ‘That’s Life’ has resurfaced and is making the world cry rivers again. Sir Nicholas Winston was invited to be on the show in 1988, and so were the children whose lives he saved. He had no idea that the people sitting next to him in the audience were the very kids who he saved 50 years ago. The host of the show asked a simple question to the audience "Who owes their life to Sir Nicholas Winton?", and what followed was pure emotion. Watch his reaction when he gets to know the identity of the people in the audience. Trying telling a friend about this without tearing up.
  15. Roger Federer’s remarkable win against Rafael Nadal will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of the open era mainly because making a comeback at 35 is no easy feat and doing that after a lay-off of six months due to injury demands an incredible passion for the game. But one person who has been with Federer through thick and thin and whom he regards as his number one support is his wife – Mirka Federer. During a recent interaction after his Australian Open win, Federer couldn’t stop talking about her. © Reuters "She's been there when I had no titles and she's still here 89 titles later, so she had a big part to play in [the win]" he told the press huddle. She knows it, I know it, and everybody knows it. She's a mum number one and a wife, and only then later does she become the supporter..." "She stepped away from it a little bit after becoming super involved. I guess that was 2003, 2004 when she was right in the centre of the storm really. I didn't enjoy that role for her really because she had to say no too many times. She got a bad rap for it," he further said. Take a look at the couple hugging it out after the win. "You have to say 90 percent of the time 'No he can't do the interview now, because he has no time.' Some [members of the media] don't like to get that answer. So I thought it was better to remove her from that position and she was happy to. And that's why I'm just happy she's my wife now ... She's the one who always tells me the truth and everything, so we go very well together," he said visibly smitten. © Reuters Federer will now move on to better his record of 18 grand slam titles especially because this might be his last year on the pro circuit as he hinted after win. And only time will tell whether we’ll get a rematch of the classic we witnessed at the Australian Open.
