  1. Time and again I have said this that no amount of words can ever be enough to express our gratitude to our soldiers for their bravery, fearlessness, courage and selflessness. They put their lives at risk, get fatally injured and despite going through it all, always keep a huge smile on their faces and courage and pride intact in their hearts. Wikimedia One such brave jawan is Major DP Singh, a Kargil War hero. Major Singh lost a leg during Operation Vijay, but his Twitter bio reads "Enjoying KargilWar wounds" with a wink. Recently, he shared an emotional post which left a lot of people emotional and in tears. One of them is Aamir Khan who got goosebumps after reading his post. Major Singh wrote that 'Sarfarosh' was the last film he saw 20 years ago, before losing a leg. He mentioned how he saw 'Sarfarosh' in theatres back then and now he saw it on TV. "That time on both legs. Now one less. My last movie as intact before I joined unit for #OpVijay in May 1999." Exactly 20 years ago I watched movie #Sarfarosh of @aamir_khan and same I did just now. But That time it was in theater. Now on TV. That time on both legs. Now one less. My last movie as intact before I joined unit for #OpVijay in May 1999.#memories pic.twitter.com/rBmWtnhRX5 — Major D P Singh (@MajDPSingh) May 28, 2019 After reading his post, Aamir replied to him saying, "your post gave me goosebumps. We salute your courage, strength and grit in the face of adversity. Love and respect to you, Sir." Dear @MajDPSingh, your post gave me goosebumps. We salute your courage, strength and grit in the face of adversity. Love and respect to you, Sir. a. https://t.co/TYL8qurl1v — Aamir Khan (@aamir_khan) May 29, 2019 Major Singh too replied to Aamir Khan's post and thanked him for his words. He wrote, "I am no great...it's a trait of every #indianarmy #soldier." My dear @aamir_khan It could become possible as I was trained by @adgpi ðð®ð³ð®ð³ I am no great.. it's a trait of every #indianarmy #Soldier Thank you for your kind words. ð Keep making inspirational films. God bless Jai hind https://t.co/2nA27nHpMT — Major D P Singh (@MajDPSingh) May 29, 2019 Major Singh, who is known as India's first Blade Runner, is hand downs one of the toughest men and we don't think we will ever see anyone braver than him.
  2. Every Indian is proud of the country's armed forces, and not just because of all the extraordinary things that they get done on a daily basis, but also because of the kind of security they give us at the cost of personal dangers and sacrifices. © Twitter However, while we shed tears and mourn the loss of every life lost at the border, the sad truth is, time eventually erases their names from our memories much like the sacrifices they make. However, there remain some individuals who never forget the ones who left by making the ultimate sacrifice of life for us and the country. © Twitter The “squad” never forgets their mates who were martyred in the line of duty, even after decades go by. For instance, the IAF Chief Marshal B. S. Dhanoa just showed us what real-life 'squad goals' look like by flying a MiG-21 in the 'missing man' formation to pay tribute to martyred squadron leader Ajay Ahuja who died during the Kargil War in 1999. 20 years since the fateful day when Pakistan downed the IAF aircraft Ajay Ahuja was flying, and later killed him, the IAF Chief made the decision to remember the squadron leader's sacrifice through the flypast near Bhatinda and honour the fallen comrade-in-arms. © Twitter Squadron leader Ajay Ahuja was part of Operation Safed Sagar at Kargil and the 'Missing Man' formation in the form of an arrow with a gap between two aircrafts depicting the missing man is how his fellow comrades decided to honour Ajay's memory. © Twitter If this isn't what squad goals should be made up of, then what is? A squad isn't the best only when they fight beside you, but when they choose to remember and celebrate you years after you are gone. And the IAF just showed us how to best get it right.
  3. Hard work is important and so is experiencing failure. If you don't succeed at the first attempt, don't lose hope and give up. Gather yourself and try again. And again. And again, until you succeed. Facebook Phoenix, an adorable little kid was in his martial arts class, trying to break a board. He did not have to break the board to advance to the next level, but he still wanted to do it. Phoenix's proud mother shared the emotional video on social media. Facebook Before I continue with Phoenix's story, let's give a big shoutout to his friends and the instructor. These are the kind of friends people deserve to have in their lives. After some failed attempts, Phoenix was very dejected and was in tears as he couldn't succeed. Suddenly, the room was filled with echoes of kids chanting Phoenix's name, cheering him up and encouraging him. Finally, the kid broke the board and taught us one of the biggest life lessons - Never give up, no matter how hard things are in life. Childhood is a crucial time for any and every kid. The things they learn in their growing years, shape their personality and future. While they learn a lot of things in life, sometimes, they end up teaching us adults some valuable life lessons with their innocent acts. Just like how Phoenix taught us to never give up.
  4. Ever wondered why people are particularly in awe of characters like Sherlock Holmes or let's say, Littlefinger from 'Game of Thrones'? It's that clever brain of theirs which manages to set them apart from the rest of the crowd. Interestingly, such characters not only belong in the world of fiction, as sometimes, we manage to find them in the real world as well. via GIPHY A 27-year-old student has gone viral on the internet for an extremely bizarre yet ingenious reason. The student, who hails from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, was arrested after he tricked the employees of KFC into giving him free meals for a year. How in the name of Colonel Sanders did he pull this off? Well, our brilliant man here convinced the employees that he was sent from the KFC headquarters for quality check of the food being served in the restaurant. He would confidently walk into the store, and tell the same story at different KFC outlets and would end up getting a free meal. © Getty Images Look, I know what he did was wrong and everything, but you've got to admit it was bloody brilliant. I mean, clearly, he knows some kind of Jedi mind trick given how he pulled this off at every. single. KFC. outlet that he went to for a whole year! Who does that? Mere mortals like me can't even dream of walking into a shop and saying such things while making eye contact with the employees. Clearly, I am not the only one impressed with this student, as Twitter is losing its shit over the man and his antics and are hailing him as their new hero and have branded him a legend. First Mandela and now this poor man. WTF South Africa? A man needs his KFC. — Bree's Grampy (@vinnyc3) May 13, 2019 #SouthAfrica, y'all just gonna throw a man in jail for #KFC being stupid? #CmonMan https://t.co/3g7dVUnHHg — #BullpenInNeed (@ause7en) May 14, 2019 He should be knighted, not arrested!! The guy is a freaking LEGEND!!! ðð¼ðð¼ðð¼ — Deano (@deansleckie) May 13, 2019
  5. You have to be the filthy kind of rich to be able to gift your buddy a customised 'Captain America' themed 1967 Camaro that would make your wallet slimmer by Rs. 2 crores and still not scratch the surface of your bank account. And if your name is Robert Downey Jr and you have the charisma to handsomely pull off a gold and iron red coloured suit made up of tin, then you most definitely will have no problems establishing such a bank account for yourself. As the first piece of the elaborate puzzle the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become in the current day, RDJ was given what can be considered a complex and complicated yet extremely difficult task as an actor and that was to make the audience like Iron Man enough to build a complete universe in the coming years and hopefully decades. And as they say, “with great responsibility comes a lot of money!” Well, not exactly. When Downey was first bolted into the Iron Man suit, his deal was worth $500,000, which even though was still a lot of money, especially for an experiment like Iron Man, was nowhere near the kind of dough the 54-year-old would make in the coming years. A new clause was then added to his contract stating that Downey's take-home will also include a 2.5% share of all profits made by the movies. Iron Man (2008): $500,000 = Rs. 3,50,00,000 (approx.) Iron Man 2 (2010): $10 million + $3 million (film profits) = $13 million = Rs. 90,53,00,000 (approx) Avengers (2012): $10 million + $29 million (film profits) = $39 million = Rs. 2,72,00,00,000 (approx) Iron Man 3 (2013): $10 million + $22 million (film profit) = $32 million = Rs. 2,23,00,00,000 (approx.) Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015): $10 million + $25 million (film profit) = $35 million = Rs. 2,44,00,00,000 (approx.) Captain America: Civil War (2016): $40 million + $18.75 million in film profit + $5 million for beating Winter Soldier = $63.75 million = Rs. 4,45,69,60,000 (approx.) Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017): $ 15 million = Rs. 1,04,00,00,000 (approx.) Avengers: Infinity War (2018): $10 million + $10.25 million from film profit = $20.25 million Rs. 1,39,00,00,000 (approx.) Adding everything together, Robert Downey Jr has earned a total of approximately $200 million in the eight movies he has appeared. With the kind of craziness we are getting to see as the tickets finally went open for booking, this has to be the greatest draw in RDJ's career with Marvel Studios. 6. Bollywood has been churning out some quality biopics and historical drama films. Be it Vicky Kaushal's 'Uri' or more recently, Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari', these kind of films based on true events and facts are a hit amongst Indian audience for obvious reasons. © Hounourpoint Not only do such films make us more aware, but they also instill a sense of patriotism and belongingness from time-to-time. It seems like another such biopic is in the pipeline and this one shall be based on the life of a 21-year-old Indian Army daredevil who single-handedly destroyed seven Pakistani tanks during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. © Alchetron The brave martyr's name is 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, and he is the reason why India won the war against Pakistan in 1971. However, before we tell you more about the biopic on Arun Khetarpal, let us tell you who he was and what he did for India's victory. The Crowning Glory Of Battle of Basantar Daredevil in the truest sense of the word, 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, was part of the Poona Horse regiment, and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his unrivalled bravery and sacrifice for the nation in the Battle of Basantar which was during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. © Hounourpoint A courageous youngman of 21-years-old, Khetarpal had just joined the Indian Army as a 2nd Lieutenant when he was called on duty to the war front in 1971. Born in Pune on 14th October 1950, he came from an army background. His grandfather had served in the British Indian army during World War I while Arun's father, Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal, served in Indian Army's Engineering Corps until his retirement. 1971 Indo-Pak War When war was finally declared between India and Pakistan in 1971, Arun's regiment was given the task to set up a bridgehead across the Basantar river. Close to Sialkot, the territory was of strategic importance for both sides. During the course of the war Indian troops reported alarming artillery onslaught from the Pakistani side and requested for tank support. Thus on December 16th, two Poona Horse tank troops (of which, one was under the command of 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal) were moved towards Jarpal in Pakistan. © Lazydesiauthor Enroute the Basantar river crossing, they were attacked by Pakistani tanks. The Indian side retaliated effectively. However, during the battle, the other Poona Horse tank came under attack and the commander was killed. That left Khetarpal alone to fight off the Pakistani tanks. 2nd Lt Khetarpal Changes The Course Of History Undeterred, Khetarpal led a strong counter-attack, that would eventually lead to his martyrdom and also give India the final push towards victory. Aboard a Famagusta JX 202, Khetarpal single-handedly destroyed five enemy tanks before getting hit by a shell. © Wikipedia A gravely injured Khetarpal was asked to withdraw at this point, but the 2nd Lieutenant refused to give up. He had told his commanding officer “No Sir, I will not abandon my tank. My gun is still working and I will get these bastards!” Until his dying breath, Khetarpal managed to destroy a total of seven Pakistani tanks. This gave the Indian troops a much needed upper hand that not only led to an eventual victory for the Indian side, but was also the beginning of the end of war. Biopic On Param Vir Chakra Khetarpal © India today/Wikipedia As per latest reports, it is being said that filmmaker Sriram Raghavan shall be directing the biopic on Khetarpal, which has been titled 'Ekkis'. It is also being said that the makers have approached Varun Dhawan to play the role of Khetarpal in the movie.
  7. For a team that has often been labelled as the underachievers of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (DC) made a roaring start to shrug off past disappointments in the 2019 edition. The Shreyas Iyer-led side stunned three-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in their opening match before a narrow loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But, a spirited show against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that saw them record their second win of the season after surviving a nerve-wreaking one-over eliminator, highlighted Delhi's improved character this season. Having secured two wins out of three games, Capitals were on their way to record their third triumph before Sam Curran's sensational hat-trick turned the game in Kings XI Punjab's favour. Sam Curran, you beauty ð¥ð¥#VIVOIPL pic.twitter.com/3ls47GBt0t — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 1, 2019 Chasing a total of 166 runs, Delhi were cruising at 144/3 in 16.3 overs before suffering a massive batting collapse. The visitors lost seven wickets in a mere 17 deliveries as Punjab pulled off a 14-run win out of the jaws of what initially seemed like a certain defeat. Mohammed Shami and Sam Curran were the heroes for Punjab, but it was arguably the young Englishman whose figures of 4-11 (including a sensational hat-trick) made the difference. For someone who had earlier slammed a 10-ball 20 before rattling Delhi's line-up with the ball, Curran was rightly adjudged the 'Man of the Match'. But, after impressing everyone with his batting and bowling, the 20-year-old saved the best for the last as he was seen flaunting his 'Bhangra moves' with KXIP owner Preity Zinta after their cracking win. ðºðºðº Some bhangra moves there, courtesy @realpreityzinta & @CurranSM ðð pic.twitter.com/VAeXq3I07o — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 1, 2019 A brief video of the Curran's dance with Zinta was, later, shared on the official handle of the IPL. 8. The internet was originally made to just share cat pictures and memes, true story, so it's obvious that any cat can outshine anyone and anything. That's exactly what happened in 'Captain Marvel' as well. Yes, Brie Larson was great as the most powerful superhero in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe but people thought that there was another hero in the movie that even Captain Marvel couldn't match up to - Goose the cat! Yep, the adorable little kitty not only distracted Nick Fury as we saw in the trailers but us as well when we watched the movie. The number of people just talking about Goose after watching the movie is insane, I don't think anyone is even talking about Brie Larson that much. Sorry Brie, you're awesome but even you can't compete with a cat. Spoiler ahead, just FYI. Ever since Goose came on-screen, it was just an unassuming cat who ended up going to space with Nick Fury and Carol Danvers. But, then the tentacles came out. Yes, Goose was an alien, more specifically a Flerken that has tentacles that can swallow several people whole and save Nick Fury's life. So, this is what people were talking about when they said Goose is a scene-stealer. confirmed. goose will defeat thanos. pic.twitter.com/DZPAAfmYb5 — captain* (@iamgeekingout) March 10, 2019 Yes! talos when people kept saying goose was a simple cat #CaptainMarvel pic.twitter.com/ASKf4U0cS4 — marilia (@brieourguest) March 9, 2019 Accurate. nick fury with avengers vs nick fury with carol and goose pic.twitter.com/nr5PRwBP83 — carol (@lizzieolses) March 10, 2019 I would vote for him. 9. A son has set foot in his motherland once again. A soldier is on his way to reclaim his pride that lies in donning the uniform, a father is all set to hold the apple of his eye once again. A husband is bringing back the biggest joy known to his wife. A son is giving his mother a piece of her heart back, and shall have his father beat his chest filled with inexplicable pride and joy, as he welcomes Abhinandan back home. Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured by the Pakistani army on 27th February, after his MiG-21 Bison crash landed on the other side of the LoC, is finally back home after spending 58 hours in the Pakistani Army's captivity. IAF Pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returns to India from Pakistan Read @ANI story | https://t.co/L9i9Veuty5 pic.twitter.com/pi4LcFaPzg — ANI Digital (@ani_digital) March 1, 2019 What makes this moment all the more special is that it is no longer a private matter for Abhinandan's family or his fellow teammates in the Indian Air Force, but rather, it has transformed into a moment of collective celebration that every Indian is rejoicing in. The kind of solidarity Abhinandan's homecoming evoked in the entire nation could be felt in waves over the last 48 hours. The intensity of pride, hope and gratitude that exuded from the hundreds of people gathered at the Wagah-Attari border earlier today, waiting there for hours on end with bated breath to welcome their hero back, was palpable even through the recordings. While many danced to the beats of dhol and shouted cries of welcome, all of India's hearts beat as one until their own was safely back on Indian soil. IAF Wing Commander #AbhinandanVarthaman at Wagah-Attari border, to cross border soon to enter India. pic.twitter.com/a1hVjwroVw — ANI (@ANI) March 1, 2019 Even as scores of people came together to cheer for Abhinandan today, the subtext of political gains and acquisitions kept running strong in the backdrop, never too lazy to ease out of public glare. A known politico from down south made claims about the ruling government's chances of winning by a majority in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections following the airstrike on 26th February, while Pakistan's leaders claim to be handing over Abhinandan as a 'gesture of peace' to prevent further escalation of the ongoing tensions between the two countries. As if all that wasn't enough, amidst this turmoil, there's a certain segment of people rooting for a war to break out between India and Pakistan. Visuals from Attari-Wagah border; Wing Commander #AbhinandanVarthaman to be received by a team of Indian Air Force. pic.twitter.com/C4wv14AEAd — ANI (@ANI) March 1, 2019 Honestly, it's difficult to understand such motivations given that such a situation has never benefitted nations. History stands witness to the fact that war has robbed countries of not just manpower, but it immediately disrupts economies, renders the environment inept but the loss of human life and property is enough to set a country back by a couple of years, besides a host of other things which involve draining monetary as well as human resources of a country. But I am not here to elucidate on the havoc wars can wreck on society, but I am merely trying to point out that politicizing a tragedy (that this could have turned out to be) is the last thing we need right now. This moment purely belongs to Abhinandan for what he endured for our nation and its safety, what he stood for in the moments of his captivity and how he came through it all by the end of it. So, let this be his moment, one he will not forget till his last breath. Let's not steal his thunder today. I salute you India's son #Abhinandan #WelcomeHomeAbhinandan pic.twitter.com/xuz8mVrRz7 — Rahulkrishnan (@SRahulkrishnan) March 1, 2019 Meanwhile, a family is whole once again, a squad got their mate back, and the country welcomed a great soldier back in its forces. As for the rest of us in the country, following the news updates on TV and social media, writing and commenting on Abhinandan's homecoming, we have found a hero in the IAF pilot. Abhinandan has turned into an inspiration for us, not only for his display of selflessness, valour and principles, under given circumstances, but he has allowed us to peek into the life of a dedicated protector of the nation, who deserves nothing less than our absolute respect, gratitude and appreciation. Welcome back, Wing Commander Varthaman!
  10. On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that his government will release captured Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman today as a 'gesture of peace'. Since then, the nation's happiness and excitement knew no bounds as people from across the country geared up, like one big family, to welcome their hero. © Facebook Reportedly, the convoy of vehicles carrying Varthaman reached the Attari Wagah Border late afternoon, from where he was handed over to India moments ago as he crossed the LoC. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was kept in the custody of the Pakistan Army since Wednesday, after his aircraft crashed on the other side of the LoC, during aerial combat between Indian and Pakistani fighter planes. © Twitter When the news of Varthaman's captivity made headlines, the nation had only one prayer on their lips, 'Bring Back Abhinandan'. Furthermore, the hashtags #SayNoToWar and the happiness in both the countries over the release of Varthaman, prove that both people across the border stand united for peace and against war. While expressing his gratitude to Varthaman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said every Indian is proud of him. Now that the nation's hero is back, people can't stop rejoicing and the insane crowd at Wagah Border cheering for him and his return reiterates the same. 11. Every nation stands tall and remains unbreakable courtesy to the knights in uniforms who stand guard at our borders, shores and skies 24X7. These fearless (and needless to say, selfless) men and women hold the country's defences, laying down their lives in the line of fire to ensure that their countrymen get to lead a life that's not threatened by fear or uncertainty. Their job description is special for more than one reason. We find them setting up their homes in the most remote areas of the country, or someplace with adverse climatic conditions, marking their territories and standing guard over it, should its borders be threatened. The Indian subcontinent boasts of such mighty knights of its own, who put on such a display of bravado in the face of challenge, which is matched only by a few others. (c) Twitter Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is one such Indian officer who wears the uniform with pride and stands by its ideals to the hilt. Abhinandan is a National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla alumnus, who is an officer with 51 Squadron of the Indian Air Force, which is known as Sword Arms and is based in Srinagar. Hailing from Chennai, Abhinandan has been a fighter pilot with the IAF for the last 16 years and was an established Sukhoi-30 fighter pilot before he joined the 51 Squadron. A native from Chennai, Abhinandan was brought up respecting the principles of the armed forces, since his father is also an Air Force veteran. (c) Twitter Born to noted Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman, who retired as the Air-Officer-Commanding of the Eastern Command in Shillong in 2012, Abhinandan appeared in an episode of 'Jai Hind' in 2011, which was telecasted on NDTV Good Times. Holding a title of Flight Lieutenant at the time, he had said that it takes “bad attitude” to be a good Sukhoi pilot. He further added that there were no two ways about “blind faith” and trust that officers place on their co-pilots and the training they receive. The 34-year-old Wing Commander, who currently flies a MiG-21 Bison, was captured by the Pakistan Armed Forces after he crash-landed across the LoC after an aerial dogfight with his Pakistani counterparts who had infiltrated the Indian airspace early morning yesterday, in retaliation to India's airstrike on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. (c) Twitter The videos of his captivity began doing the rounds of social media. The first one showed the fighter pilot being beaten by an angry mob comprising of Pakistani locals until the Pakistani army intervened and brought Abhinandan to safety. The second video clip showed a wounded and blindfolded Abhinandan enquiring about his whereabouts, and calmly giving his name and service number when enquired by the Pakistani officers. The third and final video showed him in a better space of mind, sipping on a cup of tea and informing the world that the Pakistani Army has treated him very well, and assuring that they've have been “thorough gentlemen” in their behaviour. However, for most Indians, the video series did more than just the obvious. (c) Twitter Sure, we saw the Pakistani Army's graciousness in keeping up with the ideals and ethics of combat, and hold up the principles of humanity but it was also Abhinandan's grit and strength in the face of adversity that stirred the spirit of every Indian who saw the man hold his chin up even when he realised he was in Pakistan's captivity. In a tweet earlier today, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh hailed Abhinandan an as “embodiment of a mentally tough, selfless and courageous soldier” and hoped for his safe return at the earliest. #WingCommanderAbhinandan is an embodiment of a mentally tough, selfless & courageous soldier. During these testing times the country stands, as one, behind him & his family. Our efforts are on & under the #GenevaConvention we hope that the brave pilot would return home soon. — Vijay Kumar Singh (@Gen_VKSingh) February 28, 2019 But it isn't just the minister who feels that way. Several young people across the country have come to find a different kind of hero in Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. They have seen Abhinandan prove that his nerves are made of steels, whose display of quiet strength and composure took away the power from his captors. Abhinandan faced the Pakistani Army officers with the kind of attitude and demeanour befitting an officer of the Indian Armed Forces. Not only did he display immense strength of will, but he also didn't step away from the ideals an officer must abide by, and followed protocol by displaying dignity of character and respect towards the officers of the Pakistani army. (c) Twitter He quickly became the prime example of the kind of hero people wish to look up to, since Abhinandan's calm during such a moment of duress inspired respect not only from his fellow countrymen, but also from Pakistani citizens, who praised his bravado and show of dignity. But if you thought the video was all, hold your thoughts. Did you know, that according to an India Today report Abhinandan swallowed all the confidential documents and maps he had on himself to ensure they don't end up with the Pakistani army after he gets captured? Here is what 20-somethings are saying about their new-found hero in Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman: (c)Flickr/MensXP Even though he was captured, Abhinandan maintained the dignity of being a representative of our Forces as well as our country, and stood by demands of protocol he might have been given the training for. (c) Flickr/MensXP We agree to what Aditya pointed out right there. Being a soldier Abhinandan ensured that none of confidential documents or information he possessed could be accessed by the Pakistani army officers. He stood his ground and displayed integrity. (c) Flickr/MensXP Not only as an officer in the Indian Armed Forces, but also as a fellow human being, Abhinandan was respectful to the Pakistani officers in the video, and acknowledged their graciousness and hospitality after his captivity. (c) Flickr/MensXP Abhinandan's calmness and display of respect towards Pakistani officers has touched the hearts of million! (c) Flickr/MensXP Abhinandan made numerous young men and women in the country and around the world, stop and take note of the bravado and do or die spirit thriving in the heart of every soldier around this world. Now that Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has gone on record to state that Abhinandan will be released on 1st March, as a sign of de-escalation and peace treaty between the two countries, we positively hope that the growing tension will recede and both nations can give peace a chance. 12. The brave men, who guard our country, lose sleep so that we can sleep in peace and also sacrifice their lives for the love of the nation, deserve more than just our respect. No amount of love or words that one pours to thank our soldiers can suffice the work they do for this country. However, it's not just them who make this sacrifice. One cannot even imagine the strength their family members show in enduring the risk of sending their bravehearts to the border. It is not easy being a wife of an army officer but it is an honour for sure and Gauri Mahadik is one such hero who is proving to the world that she is a woman of steel. She is the wife of Major Prasad Mahadik, who was martyred in 2017 at the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. While life definitely must have stopped for a while for this brave woman, it definitely didn't deter her from facing it with all the strength she had. Gauri is now all set to join the army herself as a tribute to her brave husband. Gauri will be inducted as a lieutenant in the army once she completes her training in Chennai. Gauri cleared the service selection board (SSB) exams and qualified for the rank by actually topping the exam with great score. Talking about some kind of serendipity and a beautiful twist of destiny, Gauri was allotted the same chest number (28) which was also allotted to her husband when he was undergoing his training. She is a qualified lawyer who quit her job to pursue this dream in memory of her husband. It is stories like these which fill your heart with strength and courage and make you believe that every storm is followed by a rainbow.
  13. 'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile' - the name of the movie about Ted Bundy precisely sums up the serial killer but some people are not sure about his portrayal in it. As soon as the trailer of the much-anticipated movie starring Zac Efron as the notorious killer dropped, people had concerns about the makers trying to humanize Ted Bundy and turning it into an almost rom-com, instead of showing him as a cold-blooded murderer, who killed 30 or more women. It's here! First Teaser Trailer for #ExtremelyWickedShockinglyEvilAndVile pic.twitter.com/AyHc3J26jC — Zac Efron (@ZacEfron) January 25, 2019 The main concern comes from the glorification of his crimes and how it would affect the people who were impacted by his crimes. However, a lot of people argued that Ted Bundy was supposed to be this charming, charismatic guy and that's exactly how he got so many of his victims. While no one can judge the movie by just its trailer, everyone agreed that the music was too inappropriate and made it seem like a superhero movie instead of a creepy crime story. Here's what everyone's saying: Yep, the music was bad. That music choice was awful. It should be creepy. People should feel disgusted watching this trailer. You already ruined people's first impressions on the movie... ð https://t.co/NNDTkAfcC2 — syzahmd (@syaza_hamid_) January 27, 2019 Is it romantic, tho? I feel so bad for the families of the victims that have to sit there and see their terrors revived as a witty romantic thriller https://t.co/uP4y03XSBU — anime yitties (@peachesfrfr) January 26, 2019 He was a monster, for sure. i mean it looks good but why the music? this film is portraying a literal serial killer that existed and did horrible things in real life at least make it seem that way instead of romanticizing a monster. https://t.co/uGKbl67eC1 — Nah (@Jullian1402) January 27, 2019 Way to go. The music makes me feel ill. How you gonna play fucking action music with a film about ted bundy who raped and killed "over 30, perhaps as many as over 100" women. Barely touches on it in the trailer lol. Way to go https://t.co/we8aH2HOe0 — eva i guess (@evaiguess) January 27, 2019 Just read the title to see how horrible he was. why did they market this like it's a super hero movie and not a movie about someone who kills humans for fun. https://t.co/Wb2sfU5WJb — honeybð (@KalliyahDejesus) January 27, 2019 Anyone could be a serial killer, tbh. Yall fr getting mad because they're showing what he was like instead of maybe thinking that not all serial killers look like monsters and they actually could be the cute neighbor? None's gonna think of him as daddy while watching him drag a corpse, use your head https://t.co/C0PzS0nNh4 — KTH1/TXT/ITZY are coming (@idlearity) January 26, 2019 Can't assume that, obviously. I feel that casting a teenage hearthrob as a serial killer was to really show that even the most charismatic normal ones can be sadistic,,,that being said the music for this trailer was a horrible choice, although one can't just assume jovial will be the tone of the film. https://t.co/3K8NddkECo — professional whiner (@shalini_vs_) January 26, 2019 The movie's director came out to clear some things. Exactly! https://t.co/V9KsCxldh6 — Joe Berlinger (@joeberlinger) January 26, 2019 I don't see it. and in this moment, watching the ted bundy tapes, i realized just how spot on casting zac efron as ted bundy was......this is unsettling pic.twitter.com/07lsdQBDZW — JOANNA (@Jobazzle) January 24, 2019 Exactly. Zac Efron as Ted Bundy is kinda perfect casting cause you can't believe that he could possibly play a terrifying serial killer in the same way that you couldn't have looked at Ted Bundy and believed that he *was* a terrifying serial killer. https://t.co/kew3IpkvVf — John Squires (@FreddyInSpace) January 25, 2019 We can never ever forget Troy Bolton. Instead of sexualizing zac Efron as ted bundy, let's applaud him for being such a great actor and being able to go from playing a singing basketball player to a serial killer — Liz (@ultralizzete) January 27, 2019 Okay, this is just bad usage of words. "Ted bundy isn't being romanticized!" : pic.twitter.com/o6RWqnVOMS — Savannah Clemmons (@savclemm) January 27, 2019 Couldn't agree more. why is everyone saying ted bundy is cute when he looks like human shrek pic.twitter.com/a8PlKgi0Ys — yeehaw (@sluttydonutts) January 27, 2019 It's sad that it will for sure happen. Can we not sexulize Ted Bundy? He raped, murdered, and decapitated women and had *** with their dead bodies. Not here for this hyper-sexualized Zac Efron film. I know the youth of twitter will obsess over him, and I'd prefer not to read thirst tweets about a serial murderer — Kayla Stetzel (@KaylaStetzel) January 26, 2019 While sexualizing him online is wrong on so many levels, this is just spot on. Ted Bundy: *used his charm to lure his victims* Film about Ted Bundy: *shows his charm* People on the internet: how DARE They romanticise a murderer of women who MURDERED WOMEN!?!?!? — Taylor (@finejostens) January 27, 2019 A much deeper point. People thinking Ted Bundy is being "romanticized" by using a hot actor is exactly the problem with us - it is hard to accept someone as good looking as Zac Efron as capable of evil. That's called the "Halo Effect", and celebs, good-looking people, politicians get away coz of that — Albert Pagunsan (@albert_pagunsan) January 28, 2019 Yep. ted bundy is portrayed as a handsome and charming serial killer because...he was handsome and charming serial killer...pic.twitter.com/z2r89gvYPl — spare ts7 ma'am 𤲠(@moneyinabag) January 28, 2019 I'm so here for Ted Bundy-Zac Efron memes. 15. Aamir Khan who is loved on-screen for his brilliant portrayal of characters recently turned into a real-life hero and saved the life of his 'Dangal' colleague. It was his well-timed help that saved the life of National Film Award-winning sound engineer Shajith Koyeri. © Twitter After Koyeri suffered from a severe attack, he was rushed to Bandra's Lilavati Hospital on Thursday morning, where they waited for hours to get doctor's assistance. As per reports, the family had no option left and they reached out to Aamir Khan for help. After receiving the call, the actor immediately rushed to the hospital around midnight. The family confirmed that no doctor has examined him since the MRI was done. Instantly, Aamir moved him to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri for the treatment. The 'Thugs of Hindostan' actor got in touch with Anil Ambani's family who owns Kolikaben hospital and got the needful done. By 3 am, Koyeri was transferred. © Twitter As per the family, Koyeri was taken for an MRI after he suffered from the stroke. Though he was rushed into the intensive care unit (ICU), there was no doctor who came to examine him even once. Koyeri, who won a National Award for 'Omkara', complained about uneasiness quite a few times, but no one from the hospital was there to help. As his condition was deteriorating, they reached out for Aamir's help. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Koyeri's sister Neesha said, "Had he not been there, who knows how bad it could have been?" © Twitter Meanwhile, Lilavati authorities have denied the allegation and stated that their doctors are always available round-the-clock and Koyeri received the required treatment on time. 17. Weddings are fun, only till the time your relatives don't grab your neck and start irritating you with comments like, "You're next" or "When are your wedding bells ringing?" We've all been there and I guess the awkwardness and silence that follows is universal. While it's easy to avoid the relatives, whose sole purpose in life is to see you get married; what will you do if the same hint is dropped by your girlfriend at a wedding? Throwing bouquet or 'kaleerein' towards bridesmaids is a common tradition at any wedding. In fact, it's said that woman who catches the bouquet will get married soon. While, it's considered to be a good sign for the woman, it's not quite the same for the guy (who has no intention of getting married anytime soon). © YouTube This man here, who goes by the name Daniel Gilbert, is internet's new-found hero who just gave courage to the millions of people around the world, by running for his life when he realised he might be the next in line to get married. © YouTube Gilbert was attending a wedding with his girlfriend Rachel Besley, who became the happiest guest at the wedding when she caught the bouquet. 18. Not too long ago, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were bashed on social media by one of their fans for misbehaving with her. Why? Because she secretly clicked their pictures and videos without their permission, when they were spotted together in Disneyland, Orlando. The moment the post and videos of the incident started doing rounds on the internet, people assumed that Ranveer and Deepika are celebrities who are rude to their fans. However, fans who love them vouched that it's not true and a recent video of Ranveer Singh, that is surfacing on the social media, also proves the same. Instagram Recently, Ranveer was spotted at the store launch of a popular clothing brand in Mumbai and as expected, he was welcomed by a huge crowd of fans who were waiting outside the store to click pictures with him. Instagram While posing with his fans, Ranveer noticed that one of his female fans was getting pushed around roughly in the crowd. When a huge crowd gathers around you, it's quite common for people to get pushed and pulled, so why should you intervene, right? You are a big celebrity after all? 21. For a player who grew up to the sound of grenades exploding all around him. Who was considered too weak to play football. Luka Modric just guided Croatia to their first football World Cup final. What a terrific way to silence everyone who ever doubted him! © Reuters Football fans and journalists have been guilty of overlooking the genius of certain footballers who are overshadowed by others who hog the limelight. While there is no shame in being the hero behind the scenes at Real Madrid, such has been the dominance of Luka Modric at this World Cup that we simply can't ignore him anymore. © Reuters Don't let his golden locks, diminutive stature, and teenage-like looks confuse you. He plays with the heart of a lion as evidenced by his performances in Russia. He has been an omnipresent entity for Croatia during this World Cup. © Reuters Modric is no stranger to adversity. At the age of 6, his grandfather was murdered by Serbian militants who were gunning down villagers in the small village of Modrici during the Balkan Wars. With four Champions League trophies to his name, it's hard to imagine this genius had such troubled beginnings. © Reuters At the age of 32, he has tireless stamina, often chasing lost causes even when his Croatian side have been in comfortable positions in the games. Moreover, every Croatian attack seems to be based on the brilliance displayed by Modric in the midfield. Whenever his defenders are pressed by the opposition's attack, Modric slides back, receives the ball, displays trickery on the ball and releases one of his teammates. The quality that allows him to do all these tasks at once, is his composure on the ball, as no situation is difficult enough to faze him. © Reuters He's been incredibly hard to dispossess and even harder to mark, as the opposition's defense have been left chasing his shadow during this World Cup. And what's more? In Croatia's match against Argentina in the group stage, he displayed all his qualities at once, as he dribbled past Nicolas Otamendi with ease and placed a vicious 25-yard-shot past a helpless Caballero. © Reuters Never one to grab the spotlight, Modric couldn't hold himself back as he proudly proclaimed that England's arrogance before the game had spurred him and his teammates on. After a quiet first half, Modric imposed himself on the game in a way he's best known for. Modric ran circles around Jordan Henderson and always found himself in space to distribute the ball all over the pitch. © Reuters At the end of extra time, Croatia would have played a match's worth of extra football in this World Cup. However, the Croatian captain once again led by example and brushed off any suggestions of fatigue. His work ethic hadn't reduced as England looked tired and Croatia looked lively as ever. He was key to their performance in the extra time, as Croatia saw themselves through yet again. Croatia are now the first team since England in 1990, to have all their knockout games go into extra time and win. Modric, the ultimate midfielder, has been at the heart of these inspiring performances. © Reuters As Croatia enter the first final in their history, they will once again look to their captain to serve as their inspiration. Modric will be up against France's N'Golo Kante, who has rivalled him for the title of the World Cup's best midfielder, and indeed, its best player. As we have an enticing encounter on our hands, we can't help but applaud Luka Modric and his genius at this World Cup. While the Golden Ball has more often been awarded to a player on the side of the losing finalists, there is no doubt that regardless of the outcome of the final, Luka Modric deserves it.
  22. After losing their opening game against Croatia, Nigeria came back strong to boost their chances in the FIFA World Cup group stage following a 2-0 win over Iceland. The African nation, then, almost came close to sending Argentina home and potentially progress through to Round of 16 before suffering a 1-2 defeat at the hands of the Albicelestes in their final group game. The Nigerian brigade crashed out of the tournament, but they can surely be proud of their spirited performance on the big stage. But, that's not the only thing they can be proud of. As it turns out, the entire country is now busy hailing the professionalism and commitment of their mercurial captain John Obi Mikel towards the team. Reuters In recent developments, it emerged that the Nigerian captain was apparently stuck in a dilemma ahead of their crucial group game against Argentina. Only four hours before their match, Mikel learned that his father had been kidnapped for ransom back home. Mikel did not tell his teammates or the manager as the abductors had threatened to shoot his father "instantly" if the news was disclosed to anyone else. 23. When India played against Ireland on Wednesday, everyone witnessed the same spectacular helicopter shot and as expected, the ball sailed over the boundary for a six; but the only difference was that it wasn't MS Dhoni who hit that shot. This time, it was Hardik Pandya who had smacked Dhoni's trademark shot and India kicked off the T20I series against Ireland with a 1-0 lead. Twitter (for representation) But Pandya's epic innings didn't end here. In yesterday's match, he once again proved why he deserves all the credit for India's back-to-back victory against Ireland. Thanks to Pandya's impeccable unbeaten 32-in-10 balls and a six on the last ball, India managed to set a score of 213/4. After showcasing his killer batting skills, he came back to haunt the opponents with the ball and lead India to clinch a victory over Ireland by 143 runs and won the series by 2-0. BCCI While the whole stadium was filled with cheers for Pandya, there was one person who was cheering extra hard with all her heart, and Pandya even credited her for getting his form back. This person is none other than Dhoni's daughter Ziva, who cheered for him in the cutest way possible. Pandya even took to Instagram saying, "Oh I think that I found myself a cheerleader." 24. Born to a poor family of bricklayers and factory workers who had moved from the Corrientes Province to the slums of Buenos Aires in search of a better life, Diego Armando Maradona fought poverty and struggled through his childhood before finding an escape route to all his problems through football - a sport that has given many troubled youngsters purpose in life and a potent mechanism allowing them to overcome their hardships. Maradona was no different from any of those struggling kids. But what made him different was his will and focus on the game to change the fortunes for his family. At a tender age of 8, Maradona was first spotted by a talent scout while playing for his neighbourhood club Estrella Roja. Before his 16th birthday, he made his professional debut for Argentinos Juniors, and what unfolded later, eventually became one of the greatest stories in the history of the sport. For a 12-year-old ball boy who amused spectators by showing his wizardry with the ball during the halftime breaks of the first division games in Argentina, Maradona rose through the ranks and eventually realised his dream of representing Argentina at the World Cup. From being a nobody, Maradona didn't just change his fortunes with the sport, rather he established himself as a football God, an icon and one of the greatest players to have graced the game. © Reuters That's the Diego Maradona we all came to embrace over the years. But, Maradona is a man who became many men over a period of time: hero, villain, drug addict and many other things. As much praise and success he achieved through his footballing talent, Maradona's contrasting sides, equally, garnered criticism and brought disrepute to his legacy. Maradona's success and controversy walked hand in hand. If his 1986 World Cup quarterfinal goal - a 66-yard dribble past five England defenders - was voted as the 'Goal of the Century' on the FIFA website in 2002, his other goal from the same game - that eventually became famous as the 'Hand of God' - made him Public Enemy No. 1 in the footballing world. His unprecedented glory has always found the controversial elements lurking just around the corner. Just when you thought that it couldn't get any better, the darker and more controversial side of Maradona ensures it gets worse. This is the rarest of the rare football stories where a footballer is not only the hero, but he's also the villain of his own script. A Troublemaker © Reuters On the back of his skills and creative vision, a young Maradona exploded on the club football scene. He was seen plying his trade with some of most prestigious football club on the planet including the likes of Barcelona and Napoli. But, as fate would have it, Maradona's knack for making trouble soon saw him falling from grace. Bought for a then world record fee of 5 million pounds, Maradona began his stint with the Blaugrana in the best way possible. He won Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup with Barca in 1983, the same year where he became the first Barcelona player to be applauded by the Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. Those were the good days, and unfortunately, the bad ones followed quickly. Chaotic fights and violent conduct became a casual affair for Maradona on the field. During the 1984 Copa del Rey final, the Argentine headbutted an Athletic Bilbao player, elbowed another and kneed the third one in the head, knocking him out cold. And, the gruesome brawl that followed between the players of the two teams, eventually sealed Maradona's transfer away from Camp Nou. Transferred to Napoli for another world record fee of 6.9 million pounds, Maradona reached the peak of his professional career: guiding Napoli to their first-ever Serie A title in 1986-87, inheriting the captain's armband and soon becoming an adored star amongst the club's fans. However, his success was once again marred by his controversies: frequent disputes with club executives, cocaine abuse, absence from training sessions, an illegitimate son and an alleged friendship with the Camorra (Italian mafia). An Addict © Reuters While his cocaine addiction was traced back to 1982, Maradona sadly became a regular user of the substance during his stint with Napoli. If that wasn't enough, he gained weight, began fighting with officials and looked like a shadow of himself. And, in 1991, Maradona was handed a 15-month ban for testing positive for cocaine after a Serie A match with Napoli. It was the same year when he was charged with cocaine use and possession in Argentina and held in jail for a day. He voluntarily began a drug treatment program and in 1992 - the end of his suspension, Maradona emerged from the ordeal of being 20 pounds overweight, with charges of cocaine possession in Argentina and a paternity suit in Italy. But, the drama returned in 1994, when he was sent back home after a random drug test during the World Cup revealed that Maradona had used five types of ephedrine - a banned stimulant. For a star and an icon of his stature, it's needless to say that Maradona wasn't expected to betray the faith of his fans and his country in such a degrading fashion. And after all the things he went through, Maradona had no other option, but to clean up his act. And, he did, at least for a few years. In 2000, Maradona was hospitalised and placed in intensive care in Uruguay after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and irregular heartbeat. A day later, his blood and urine samples revealed he had been taking cocaine. In 2004, owing to his drug abuse, Maradona was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Argentina. A Failed Coach © Reuters For a man who was named the joint FIFA Player of the 20th Century with Pele, Maradona - on the back of his tragic temperament and bad choices - couldn't have ruined his legacy in a better manner. But, life has always been like that for the Argentine legend. After every step he's taken towards success, misery has always followed behind. And, after he's made a fool of himself, Maradona somehow always manages to get a shot at redemption. With his reputation as a footballing great in jeopardy after his tryst with drugs and other wrongdoings, Maradona was offered a chance to rewrite the pages of history. When Argentina offered him the position of their national team's coach, Maradona had the best possible chance to wash away almost all the stains on his otherwise prolific career. It was time for one of the greatest football legends to reclaim the love and affection of all those who were left disheartened and disappointed with his actions. But, knowing Maradona and his ability to make a mess of things, many had feared the outcome of his appointment. And, sadly, they were right. After winning his first three games as Argentina coach, Maradona and his boys endured a 6-1 defeat to Bolivia - their worst ever margin of defeat in history. Argentina were forced to play out of the skin of their teeth to eventually qualify for the 2010 World Cup. But, the worst was yet to come. After their qualification, Maradona abused the members of the media at the live post-match press conference by saying: "suck it and keep on sucking it". FIFA responded with a two-month ban, a fine, and a warning to Maradona. The 2010 World Cup in Spain saw Argentina crash out of the tournament after a 4-0 rout by Germany in the quarterfinals. After their dismal show, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) decided against renewing Maradona's contract. While the AFA cited his erratic behaviour as the reason behind their decision, Maradona claimed that he was "lied to, betrayed and then eventually sacked due to internal politics". Final Nail In The Coffin? © Reuters Despite his stained reputation, persistent troubles, and unpredictable behaviour, FIFA still placed faith in Maradona by appointing him as a brand ambassador in 2017. Roped in as part of FIFA president Gianni Infantino's legend concept, Maradona was expected to attend the 2018 World Cup games to garner support for the game and remind viewers of historic moments of the past. But, if anyone has seen Maradona's antics in Russia, they'd agree, he's looked more of a nuisance than a legend. He had shocked everyone with his racist gesture towards South Korea's supporters and then made things much worse by giving a two-finger salute to the Nigerian fans. The icon appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to bingeing on white wine. Diego Maradona flips double middle fingers to Nigeria#maradona #argentina #WorldCup2018 #WorldCup #NigeriaArgentina pic.twitter.com/JUar6fGzjp — Geneza Fotbalului (@gezfo) June 26, 2018 And, what makes matters worse, is the fact that FIFA is paying for the privilege of the controversial figure to attend their games in the tournament. Believe it, or not! They are shelling out 10,000 pounds per day apart from his travel, accommodation and other expenses. But, that is in the past now. Thanks to Maradona and his unpredictable conduct, FIFA has now stripped the Argentine off the ambassador role. He will no longer be paid for his poor conduct during the clash between Argentina and Nigeria in the group stage. The governing body has also warned Maradona of a stadium ban if his erratic behaviour continues at either of the remaining games in Russia. The Argentine has had a free reign at the World Cup so far. He has been seen taking up the best seat in the house, puffing away on cigars, making obscene gestures and, needless to mention, becoming so intoxicated that he needed to be carried out of his seat during the group game against Nigeria. He is not worthy of being allowed to enter the stadium, let alone watch the game with all those privileges under the garb of his status as a football legend, responsible for promoting the game. There is no doubt that the 57-year-old is a genius that we wish to encounter. He will always be considered a football God, a legend and an icon for his sheer genius in the sport. In many ways, he is adored and respected, but in others, he isn't. Everyone comes in a package - a mix of good and bad, but if Maradona wishes to be remembered as a football legend, his controversial side must take a backseat, or else, the coming generations will only recall him as the fool who ruined his glorious football legacy at the expense of erratic behaviour and bad choices in life.
  25. Ahead of the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup, the football fans and pundits were busy putting their money on proven teams like Germany, Brazil, and Spain amongst other heavyweights. And they weren't wrong either. After all, the aforementioned teams share 10 World Cup titles amongst them. But, what eventually unfolded in the first phase of the tournament has surely left everyone reconsidering their calculations. The so-called heavyweights have witnessed a great resurgence from the sides that were initially expected to pose little threat to their respective campaigns. The fact that defending champions Germany were left shell-shocked by a rampaging Mexican side in their opening match, highlights the level of competition on display in the ongoing mega event. But, just where the big teams have slipped, a rejuvenated England side has taken huge strides to bolster their hunt for the coveted trophy. For a team that was probably expected to play with flair and more energy under coach Gareth Southgate, the Three Lions have undeniably outdone themselves. © Reuters The high-on-confidence England brigade have romped their way to securing six points from two group games so far. The Group G leaders defeated Tunisia 2-1 and then absolutely massacred Panama to orchestrate a 6-1 riot. While there have been a lot of positives for Southgate's men, one thing that has been pretty hard to overlook is Harry Kane's effectiveness in front of a goal. The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been pivotal for his side in every game they've played so far. He scored a brace in the first game and then notched up a sensational hat-trick against a toothless Panama, to become the first English player to achieve the feat since Gary Lineker in 1986. © Reuters With five goals to his name in just two games so far, Kane has pipped the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku - who have both scored four goals apiece - to emerge as the leading goal-scorer in the tournament. Such has been his confidence that Kane has now sounded a battle cry, taunting their next opponents - Belgium - in an emotional tweet. Professional. Clinical. Bring on Belgium and the knockout rounds. ð #ThreeLions #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/QXSsHNoejq — Harry Kane (@HKane) 24 June 2018 Ecstatic with their performance against Panama, Kane took to Twitter and shared a photo of himself with the caption: "Professional. We keep going. ðâ½â½â½ #WorldCup #ThreeLions ð¦ð¦ð¦ pic.twitter.com/c3UDUqL9EN — Harry Kane (@HKane) 24 June 2018 He followed it up with another tweet where he was seen basking in the glory of the first hat-trick in the ongoing World Cup. "Love this team. Proud of a first World Cup hat-trick. We keep going. #WorldCup #ThreeLions," he tweeted. Building on their prolific run, England are understandably eager to win their final group game and top their group ahead of the knockout rounds. But, it's not going to be that easy. Southgate's side will now have to contain the equally-menacing Belgium team, which has also been turning a lot of heads with their attacking threat. While some might say that England are yet to face a quality opponent, their recent performances are, nonetheless, worthy of praise. And, come 28th June, if the Kane-led Englishmen continue doing what they have done so far, the Belgium team might just emerge as the second-best side on the pitch.
