  1. The title sounds like a clickbait? Well, it isn't. Google is actually working on a project dubbed 'Project Strem' and it intends to let you play high-end console games right on your Chrome browser. The project is already out in beta and directly beams games to your Chrome web browser. For the project, Google has teamed up with game developer Ubisoft and is currently allowing beta testers to play the recently released Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for free. But, the catch here is that you will be actually able to play the game depending on your internet service provider. In a nutshell, the concept behind this is game streaming. Instead of processing the game locally on your computer, the data is processed at a remote server and streamed to you. © Digital Trends For the gaming experience to actually feel like a console, a solid minimum 15Mbps internet connection is required, and Google is officially recommending 25Mbps. Even the latency needs to be taken care of and should be lower than 40 ms along with just 5 per cent data transmission loss. If you are able to get yourself a decent internet connection, the game is all yours to enjoy. Obviously, you can't expect the game to churn out high frames per second right now and it currently runs at about 30fps, anywhere between HD and Full HD. Project Stream isn't the only attempt at cloud-based gaming though, Nvidia GeForce Now and PlayStation Now aim to accomplish the same feat. A lot of journalists were given the opportunity to test out the gaming experience and the response has been positive. Digital Trends says "It delivers a consistent, smooth gaming experience, all in your Chrome browser. But don't hold funeral rites for traditional consoles just yet." The most interesting part is, the game can also be played on Chromebook, all you need is a working Chrome browser and a solid internet connection. © Project Stream Even you sign up to be a beta tester for Project Stream by signing up here. Keep in mind, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an AAA rated game, and hence the minimum age requirement is 17, and obviously, you need at least 25Mbps of internet connection to go through. The test is scheduled to end in January, but until then, you are free to explore everything about the game. Project Stream also supports wired USB controllers, so if you don't like playing Assassin's Creed with a mouse and keyboard, you can plug in a DualShock 4, an Xbox One controller, or an Xbox 360 controller.
