To an onlooker, a celebrity’s life seems like the best there is. Because where else do you get paid loads for looking good, making a quick appearance, attending parties and chilling, all while you do what you love and, make a ton of money off it too. © Facebook Kylie Jenner But turns out even they are also running in a race of their own. A race that makes them the richest, most popular, most paid or some such celebrity in the world. Forbes, who is known to keep a tab on various such aspects has now come out with the ‘World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities 2020’ list and the results are pretty unsettling. Bagging the top spot is Kylie Jenner who made a whopping $590 millions last year according to Forbes. After becoming the youngest billionaire in the world last year at 21, this wouldn’t have surprised us a lot, had it not been for the huge disparity seen in the earnings of Kylie and the second-highest paid celeb Kanye West. © Twitter YouAre_Bot With $170 million earnings, Kylie’s brother-in-law is the second-highest paid celebrity in 2020. While Kanye West’s majority earnings came from his Yeezy sneakers deal with Adidas, Kylie’s big bucks came from selling 51% stake in her cosmetics company Kylie Cosmetics earlier this year. © Twitter WeAreTennis The others to make it to top 10 are as follows. In third position is ace tennis star Roger Federer with an earning of $106.3 million, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s $105 million and Lionel Messi’s $104 million. Grabbing the 6th spot is Neymar with a paycheck of $95.5 million, who is followed by American radio personality Howard Stern with $90 million, basketball superstar Lebron James with $88.2 million and Dwayne Johnson with $87.5 million at the 10 spot. Indian cricket team captain and arguably the best batsman in the modern era, Virat Kohli has been included in Forbesâ list of âWorldâs Highest-Paid Athletesâ for 2019-2020 and this time around, he has climbed through the ranks, placed at the 66th spot. 2017 FORBES World Ranking : #89 2018 FORBES World Ranking : #83 2019 FORBES World Ranking : #100 2020 FORBES World Ranking : #66 Sole Indian and Only Cricketer to feature Four times in FORBES World Rankings.#KingKohli #ViratKohli pic.twitter.com/yoyk6tqwdb â King Kohli Telugu FC (@KingkohliTFC) May 30, 2020 This year, Forbes has recorded his annual salary at $2 million and endorsements at $24 million, making his total earnings worth $26 million (approximately Rs 196. 36 Crore). Leading the list for the very first time since making his professional debut in 1990 is Switzerlandâs Roger Federer who was estimated to have earned $106 million (pre-tax). He is also the first tennis star in 30 years to achieve the top spot with a whopping $100 million earning from deals with brands such as Uniqlo, Credit Suisse and Mercedes-Benz. Forbes just dropped their annual and much-awaited list of the world's 100 most highly paid sportsmen in the year 2019 and while some of the rankings were obvious, others were straight-out shocking and gave a sense of reality about the fan-following of various sports both inside and outside of India. To begin with the list-toppers, Lionel Messi became the highest paid athlete in the world at a whopping $127 million, which is $18 million more than the second person on the list, Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by Brazil sensation, Neymar Jr. at $105 million. This makes it for the very first time that footballers have dominated the top three spots of such a list. Global soccer icon Lionel Messi is only the 2nd soccer player to rank No. 1 on Forbes' list of World's Highest-Paid Athletes, after longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo pic.twitter.com/4cLyTSZHtT — Forbes (@Forbes) June 11, 2019 Other world-known sports celebrities to make it in the top 10 include names like Roger Federer (Rank 5; Pay $93.4 million), Lebron James (Rank 8; Pay $89 Million) and Stephen Curry (Rank 9; Pay $79.8 million). Moving past the traditional endorsement model in many cases, LeBron James is the 8th highest-paid athlete in the world, and the highest-paid NBA player pic.twitter.com/A2CW3RvGsy — Forbes (@Forbes) June 11, 2019 Some of the shocking rankings include Serena Williams who is not only considered the unofficial face of women's tennis but has a massive payout of $25 million, thanks to her sponsors like Nike, Gatorade and Wilson. Having said that, Williams has had a bad year on the court, resulting in her 2019 'salary' plummeting to $4.2 million and bringing her down to rank #63. Virat Kohli is the only cricketer among the forbes 2019 world's highest paid athletes.#CWC19 pic.twitter.com/cExJKRrhvw — Akki (@akkiakki973798) June 11, 2019 Now, make no mistake, a year worth $25 million is a GOOD year and being named is the list of the world's most highly paid athletes has to be an honour in itself but the fact that Kohli is last on the list and is the only cricketer in the list, says a thousand words about the popularity of the game of cricket outside of India. While our nation has put the game of bat and ball on a pedestal and given birth to the money-minting business that the Indian Premier League has turned out to be, cricket is still nowhere as popular as sports like football or basketball worldwide and therefore, do not bring in many international sponsorships and bigger deals. Having said that while the Indian cricket team is doing well on their ICC World Cup 2019 journey, having defeated both their opponents, we would like to congratulate Virat Kohli on this feat. At Rs 17 Cr, Virat Kohli Becomes The Highest-Paid Player In IPL History
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Ever since its advent in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has arguably become one of the most popular and exciting Twenty20 (T20) tournaments in the world. Now, after ten seasons, India's cash-rich league is set to roll out its eleventh edition, slated to begin from the 4th of April. While there is still some time for the IPL 2018 to begin, this year's edition has already garnered a lot of attention. The return of popular franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) has surely got the fans excited. But, that's just not it. The IPL 2018 retentions, where the eight franchises are subjected to retain players of their choice, has also set the ball rolling with some of the biggest names in international cricket bagging big bucks. But, none of the players (retained) even came close to the price tag of Team India's batting sensation, Virat Kohli. © Reuters The Indian captain, whose base price was originally Rs 15 crore, was retained by his franchise i.e. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a staggering Rs 17 crore - making him the highest-paid player in the 11 year history of the IPL. BREAKING NEWS: The fearless trio of @imVkohli, @ABdeVilliers17 and @sarfankhan97 will continue to stay and slay in the #RCB colours in 2018! #PlayBold pic.twitter.com/V1Z8sPmktf — Royal Challengers (@RCBTweets) January 4, 2018 In the process, Kohli also pipped Yuvraj Singh, who held that record after the Delhi Daredevils (DD) paid Rs 16 crore to secure his services in 2015. England all-rounder Ben Stokes who was bagged by the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for Rs 14.50 crore last season, is now third in the list of highest-paid cricketers in the IPL. Retaining the in-form Kohli was a no-brainer for RCB and even if it meant they had to break the bank for him, the dashing batsman is truly worth it. Hitting 2,818 runs across all formats, it's needless to say that the Indian skipper was in tremendous form last year. (1/2) "Virat has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore since the league's inception, and is the team's captain - on and off the field. The camaraderie and team work between Virat and AB has been the backbone of the team for several seasons." - Amrit Thomas #PlayBold — Royal Challengers (@RCBTweets) January 5, 2018 (2/2) "We believe that together, Virat, AB de Villers and Sarfaraz embody the 'play bold and fearless' outlook that is inherent in RCB, and we are excited to retain them for IPL 2018."#PlayBold — Royal Challengers (@RCBTweets) January 5, 2018 He has been part of the RCB brigade since the inception of the league and has hammered 4,418 runs from 149 games at an average of 37.44. The 2016 edition was arguably his best where he amassed 973 runs including four hundreds - most by any player in a single IPL season. Apart from Kohli, RCB also retained the bankable AB de Villiers (Rs 11 crore) and youngster Sarfraz Khan (Rs 1.74 crore). On the other hand, MS Dhoni (Rs 15 crore) returning to CSK and the Mumbai Indians (MI) retaining their skipper Rohit Sharma (Rs 15 crore) was no surprise either. -
Remember when Virat Kohli got married to Anushka Sharma? Of course you do; your memory can't be that bad. In fact, didn't the media absolutely choke us with the news for days (including us)? We're guilty too, so we're going to let this pass. But what's important to note about their wedding celebrations is Virat's outfit that he wore for his wedding reception last night in the Indian capital. © Viral Bhayani The A-list cricketer (also, one of the few 'celebrity' cricketers) chose to wear a bespoke Bandhgala from Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for his wedding reception last evening. To be frank, while the designer pick was a carry forward from his wedding in Italy (his big day's outfit was a Sabyasachi too), the aesthetics of the two were contrarily different. Reason: while his marriage was a day affair (that called for fresh hues), the reception was a late evening celebration at a very upmarket venue: Taj Diplomatic Enclave (meaning, darker tones). © Viral Bhayani Broken down (and as quoted by the designer himself), Virat sported a black textured silk signature Bandhgala, a white silk kurta, hand-woven brocade churidaar and mojris. Topping things off, was a embroidered antique Pashmina shawl. Royal, vintage and well, very dapper. But what might startle you (to say the least), is the fact that his Bandhgala featured house buttons in 18K gold. That, according to sources, come with a retail price of approx. Rs. 30,000-50,000 per button, making it an estimated INR 3 lakhs for the entire set. Surprised? Don't be; this could be the man's conscious decision to match the price of Anushka Sharma's jewellery set. Or just an example of why he's India's richest cricketer alive. CC: The month of June 2017, where in, he became the only Indian to be featured in the Forbes' list of highest-paid athletes. Also, the sole cricketer to be named with a valuation of $22 million (more than Rs 141 crores). © Viral Bhayani While reading this, did you just LOL at your life? We absolutely did!

Beyonce. Image: Getty LOS ANGELES: Beyonce?s hit album Lemonade and world tour made her the highest-paid woman in music in 2017, according to an annual Forbes list on Monday, edging out Britain?s Adele and pop star Taylor Swift. The R&B singer earned some $105 million from record sales and from her Formation concert tour, according to Forbes. She also has her own Ivy Park fashion line and other business interests. Adele, whose 25 album broke first-week U.S. sales records in 2015 and who completed her first major tour since 2011, made the second place with an estimated $69 million, despite having no major endorsements for other products. Swift, who topped the last year?s list with $170 million in estimated earnings, raked in $44 million this time despite having finished her 1989 world tour. The singer is expected to see her earnings rise significantly in the next 12 months courtesy of her new album Reputation ? the best-selling album of 2017 ? and an upcoming tour. Canadian superstar Celine Dion took the No.4 spot, earning some $42 million after taking a break from her Las Vegas residency following the death of her husband Rene Angelil in January 2016. Forbes compiled the list after estimating pre-tax income for the 12 months from June 2016 to 2017, based on interviews with managers, agents, lawyers and some of the stars. It also looked at data from the Pollstar, the Recording Industry Association of America and tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan. The full list can be seen at Forbes.com -

Emma Stone ascends to top of Forbes' highest-paid actresses

Actress Emma Stone arrives at the 2017 American Film Institute Life Achievement Award in Los Angeles, California, US, August 6, 2017. REUTERS/Mario Anzuoni/Files LOS ANGELES: Fresh off winning her first Oscar, actress Emma Stone ousted Jennifer Lawrence on Wednesday to claim the top spot on Forbes' 2017 list of the world's highest-paid actresses. The 28-year-old Stone ? who won the best actress for her role as a struggling actress in La La Land ? made $26 million in pre-tax earnings, according to Forbes' calculations over a 12-month period from June 2016 to June 2017. The actress outpaced Jennifer Aniston, 48, who came in at No. 2 this year with earnings of $25.5 million, with residual income still coming in from the television sitcom Friends and endorsement deals with brands, such as SmartWater and Emirates Airline. Lawrence, 27, who topped the Forbes list for two consecutive years, dropped to No. 3 this year with earnings of $24 million, almost half of her prior year's earnings of $46 million. The actress ? who has spoken out on equal pay for women in Hollywood ? saw her earnings dip this year after the conclusion of the Hunger Games franchise, but continues to make money from movie deals and an endorsement deal with fashion brand Christian Dior. Forbes compiles its annual celebrity earnings lists from the box office and Nielsen data, as well as from interviews with industry insiders. The top-ten list also includes Charlize Theron, Emma Watson, and Melissa McCarthy. Forbes said no stars from Asia made the cut this year. It said the cumulative total earned by the world's top ten highest-paid actresses ? $172.5 million ? was down 16 percent from the previous year. Last year, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson topped Forbes' list of highest-paid actors at $64.5 million, more than double the amount made by Stone this year. Forbes is expected to release its list of top-earning male actors later this week. -
After making their way to the list of world?s highest-paid celebrities list released by Forbes magazine in 2016, few Bollywood actors have featured on this list again. So, any guesses who these actors are? Wait, let us enlighten you. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have featured on the list again and have been joined by Salman Khan this year. SRK has jumped from 86th in the rankings last time to 65th this year, with earnings of $38 million while Akshay, who was 94th last time, is ranked 80th with $35.5 million earnings, according to the list released by the magazine on Monday. Salman made an entry in the list, ranked 71st with earnings of $37 million. Shah Rukh makes the list despite not having a great year at the box office by his standards, with 'Fan' flopping at the box office and 'Dear Zindagi' being just a cameo appearance. But, Akshay Kumar had the brilliant year of 2016, with all of his films, ?Rustom?, ?Airlift? and ?Housefull 3? reaching the 100-crore mark at the box office. Salman?s only release, ?Sultan? was the second highest grossing film of the year after ?Dangal.?
