  4. These days, the news is quite depressing, to say the least. Covid cases, the release of Salman Khan’s Radhe and cyclones have left us no reason to smile. However, amid all of this, a funny video or an interview on a news channel makes for a welcome break from all that’s happing around. © iStock After Cyclone Tauktae highly impacted the west coast of India last week, another severe super cyclone storm has now hit the eastern regions of the country. It caused serious damage to life and property in West Bengal and headed to Odisha yesterday. © Instagram/ANI However, some people in Odisha were seen ignoring the warnings and stepping out of their homes during the heavy rains and gusting winds. A journalist questioned a man who was out during Cyclone Yaas but his response is taking the internet by storm. © NDTV The reporter asked the man, “Tez hawa chal rahi hai, toofan aane vala hai.. toh aap ghar se kyun nikle hain? (There are strong winds, a storm is approaching, why have you stepped out of the house?)” He replied, “You are out too. I have stepped out because you have stepped out.” To this, the reporter tells him he is covering the news so he had to step out. The man responded, “Hum nahi niklenge toh aap kisko dikhayenge? (If we don’t come out then whom will you show on the news?).” #Odisha man's reason for stepping out during #CycloneYaas is viral#CycloneYaasUPDATE pic.twitter.com/4Wod16dLW6 — editorji (@editorji) May 27, 2021 The funny man’s witty replies and hilarious excuses for stepping out left the reporter stunned and people who watched the video in splits. People are saying, “baat to sahi hai.” He even managed to catch the attention of IPS officer Arun Bothra, who shared the video on his Twitter account and captioned it, “Such a kind-hearted man. 5. Leave it to the people on Twitter to find something to smile about in the worst of situations. The social media platform that surprisingly turned as a medium to seek help and serve the needy in the worst of times during the second wave of Covid is now gearing for the third wave with humour and puns. © Twitter Third wave is trending on Twitter and the reason will make you laugh real hard. There have been numerous speculations about third wave of coronavirus hitting India soon. While the healthcare and state governments prepare for it with supplies and resources, Twitter is welcoming it with hilarious memes that are so relatable, we don’t know whether to laugh or cry. © iStock Experts announced that a third wave is inevitable and might arrive earlier than expected. 6. Band, baja, baarat, and a happily ever after? Not this time. MX Original Series Runaway Lugaai is the opposite of every romantic comedy. It’s a romantic tragedy filled with hilarious punches that will keep you entertained through the drama. The show stars Naveen Kasturia as the jilted new husband Rajnikanth Sinha (a far cry from his filmy namesake) and the only son of MLA Narendra Sinha, essayed by versatile actor Sanjay Mishra. MX Player Rajnikanth has always lived a submissive life stuck with an overbearing and dominating father. The only respite to his otherwise boring and frustrating life was getting married to the feisty, bold, and free-spirited Bulbul. All he wanted was a happily ever after. Unfortunately, even before things could go as far as happy, his pyaar went faraar. Just a couple of hours after his wedding, Rajni had to leave town to take over his role as the new judge of a small town. A couple of days later, he comes home to find his new bride missing. What starts off as a chase to find the missing bride, leads to unexpected confusion, speculation, dirty politics, and even a run-in with Bulbul’s jaded ex-lover. But does the madness lead them to the Runway Lugaai? (We aren’t giving away any spoilers!) Naveen Kasturia plays his demure character to perfection. From his nuanced accent to his submissive stature, he plays the introvert Rajni with complete ease. His uninterested body language and witty takeaways from the court proceedings add a funny undertone to the narrative of the show. He is either distracted by enticing photos of his new wife or busy apologizing to her all through the court hearings. The real surprise is Ruhi Singh as Bulbul aka the Runaway Lugaai. Her exaggerated character can’t be ignored. Bulbul is a free-spirited woman who refuses to be tamed by patriarchy, and Ruhi Singh did a great job bringing the character to life. MX Player Directed by Avinash Das, this 10-episodic series also stars Ravi Kishan as a part of this witty and talented ensemble. Queue up Runaway Lugaai on your binge-watch list this weekend and start streaming all the episodes for free on MX Player. View the full article
  7. Theme park rides are usually supposed to be fun but for one man, a sling ride wasn’t as fun as it should have been as he lost his fake front tooth during the ride. However, James Dunham took the funny incident lightly and went on to share his hilarious reaction on social media for the world to see. The video of the comical incident was recorded at Daytona Beach ride in Florida and was uploaded to a Facebook page called Daytona Slingshot, where customers get to watch their experience after the ride. Check out the video here- In the viral clip, you can see Dunham screaming his lungs out and is also seen enjoying his ride. However, between the ride, his fake tooth unexpectedly falls out of his mouth. The man is seen shocked in the video and stops screaming or smiling but just after a few seconds, he is seen smiling. He then turns to the girl next to him and says, "You wanna hear something really crazy?" He then says, "I have fake teeth and they just flew out when I yelled." The girl is seen laughing at the situation as he smiles and shows off his gap. And then she asks, “You don't have teeth?" she asks in between laughs. "No," he says. View the full article
  8. No matter how stringently the government and local police forces impose a curfew of lockdown to get the pandemic under control, some people just can’t stay at home. They just have to step out, for some reason or the other. © BCCL Well, on the occasion of World Laughter Day, the Mumbai Police put up some of the excuses that they have had to listen to when dealing with people who broke the curfew. And boy oh boy, are they hilarious. The first excuse reads as follows: - © Instagram/mumbaipolice We just have one question. What sort of an “emergency” needs just one band-aid. More to that, what medical emergency needs band-aids? © Instagram/mumbaipolice Well, this guy needed remotes for a match featuring Mumbai. © Instagram/mumbaipolice This one seems legit, right? And this man has got his priorities on point. © Instagram/mumbaipolice I mean, nothing, and we mean absolutely nothing compared to a good ol’ paan, right? And how can one even think of putting on a mask, while chewing a pan? And finally, what better excuse than food. That too a delish vada pav. © Instagram/mumbaipolice The funniest bit, though, was how the post revealed that these are in fact what people have actually said. The caption for the post reads - “All the characters and events depicted are real. Any resemblance to a person living or dead is purely intentional.” Seriously, the people in charge of the Mumbai Police’s Social Media handles deserve recognition, and if possible, a solid raise. Just recently, on 20th April (read it ‘4:20’), they put up a rather dope post. People had some hilarious reactions to this post as well. Always bang on @MumbaiPolice Thanks for making me smile — Charmi Modi Mehta (@Charmimehta12) May 2, 2021 © Instagram/mumbaipolice Why can't we keep such people in police custody for at least 24 hours? 11. Every year, players from all over the world fly over to India to become a part of the lucrative Indian Premier League (https://www.mensxp.com/topic/ipl.html) and compete in the two-month-long tournament for the championship. However, over time, the IPL has evolved from being just another cricketing league and into something much bigger. It has become an event in which different people from different social groups come together and share each other's cultures and get to know their international competitors more closely as friends and human beings. On a sillier note, this homogeneity of cultures also allows animated characters like Steve Smith to let loose and reach out to their inner ‘Dilli baaraati’ who will dance to any tune like there is no tomorrow. View this post on Instagram Smith’s moves brought out some hilarious reactions from his overseas fans: Steve Smith dances like everyone’s dad.#IPL2021 pic.twitter.com/JIKCLOUQae — Nic Savage (@nic_savage1) April 12, 2021 Wait ‘til you see Ashwin! But my general stance where my back foot is going to almost off stump, or may be even outside at stages, I know that anything outside my eyeline isn’t hitting the stumps,” Smith had said back in April 2020 when asked about his unusual batting stance. Some of the other international players in the Delhi Capitals squad tried their hand at ‘desi’ dance moves during a photoshoot for the franchise. 12. It is one thing to dream about something, growing up listening and dreaming to be a prince or a princess, make castles on the cloud, and it is another thing to convert them (or attempt to) into reality with force. In a case of what seems like Sisyphus pushing a rock up a hill, a lawyer in Punjab, advocate Palwinder Kaur, filed a petition against prince Harry to be arrested for not marrying her after promising her lifetime happiness. The advocate urged action against Prince Harry Middleton, son of Prince Charles Middleton, resident of the United Kingdom and ushered a court order to the "United Kingdom Police Cell". © Twitter She wanted the court to issue a warrant against the prince so that there was no delay in their wedding. After several virtual hearings, after multiple requests, a live hearing was arranged for her. The judge enquired for proof if she ever visited him in the UK and whether these promises were made in person. Ms. Palwinder insisted that she was in contact with him via social media and was in constant touch with his father, Prince Charles. The judge exclaimed that with no concrete proofs in place, it was a chance of mistaken identity and these chats were clearly with a fake ID or an impostor. Bursting the dream bubble decorated by this ‘khwab nagar ki shehzadi', Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan declared that "I find that this petition is nothing, but just a day-dreamer's fantasy about marrying Prince Harry. This petition, though very poorly drafted, both grammatically and lacking the knowledge of pleadings, speaks about some emails between the petitioner and Prince Harry, in which the person, sending the email, has stated that he promises to marry soon”. “There is every possibility that the so-called Prince Harry may be sitting in a cyber cafe of a village in Punjab, looking for greener pastures for himself," he further added. It was eventually ruled out to be a daydreamer’s fantasy which didn’t end well. The only compensation offered to the lawyer in love was sympathy. One would wonder if the woman in question followed social media and if she was aware that not only he is a married man, but is soon to be a father to his second child with wife Meghan Markle. 13. The official Twitter handle of the Royal Challengers Bangalore recently conducted a social media engagement exercise in which they wanted the fans to guess the player whom Glenn Maxwell was apparently (and hopefully) helping do some kind of stretching. However, the challenge was that only the bottom half of the player was visible with very subtle hints around him. Some eagle-eyed fans hunted for these clues such as the tattoo visible on his left arm and the “YC” initials printed on the shoes and guessed that it was Yuzvendra Chahal that Maxwell was with. Coming off his worst season in the history of the Indian Premier League, Maxwell had expressed his desire to play for RCB just days ahead of the mini-auction which took place before the 14th edition of the tournament. With a promising start to the season, Virat Kohli and the RCB squad will once again look to achieve what they haven’t been able to, since the inception of the tournament - win the IPL championship. They did make some significant additions to the roster in the off-season and maybe it was Maxwell’s experience and strength that might just help them get over the slump and finally bring home the trophy. 14. Ever since Rahul Dravid has broken the internet with his uncharacteristically angry role in the Cred advertisement as ‘Indiranagar ka gunda,’ fans and former teammates have not only appreciated his acting skills but have gone into a throwback mode, reliving some of the Wall’s most iconic moments as an Indian cricketer. However, Virender Sehwag, has recently shared an incredible behind-the-scenes story of how an angry Rahul Dravid intimidated someone like Mahendra Singh Dhoni so much that he ended up changing his game just to avoid getting scolded by him again. “I have seen Rahul Dravid get angry. When we were in Pakistan and MS Dhoni had been a newcomer, he played a shot and got caught at point. Dravid was very angry with MS Dhoni. ‘That’s the way you play? You should finish the game.’ I was myself taken aback by the storm of English from Dravid, I didn’t understand half of it,” Sehwag told on Cricbuzz. “But when MS Dhoni next came in to bat, I could see he was not hitting shots much. I went and asked him what was wrong. He said he did not want to be scolded by Dravid again. ‘I will finish the game quietly and go back,’ Dhoni said,” he added. The advertisement has been making people question their entire belief system and having them pinch their arms simply because of the kind of things ‘The Wall’ can be seen doing in it. Even the great Virat Kohli , who is known for his theatrics and hotheadedness on the field, is left surprised and absolutely speechless: Never seen this side of Rahul bhai 🤯🤣 pic.twitter.com/4W93p0Gk7m — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) April 9, 2021 “Never seen this side of Rahul bhai,” Kohli wrote from his official Twitter account. “It was very nice to see the feedback, that somewhere we’ve communicated the dark side of Rahul Dravid that doesn’t even exist!” Ayappa KM, who directed the commercial, told. Rahul Dravid’s relationship with funny and interesting advertisements is older than a decade now. Back when he used to play for the Indian cricket team, he used to be a brand ambassador for multiple brands, most of whom capitalised on Dravid’s cool and composed nature and created fascinating advertisements around it. You can check out a few of them, here. View the full article
