  6. Our armed forces are considered formidable for a reason. Yes, there are more dangerous defense squads out there - more ruthless, more scary, more unforgiving - but that cannot be held true for Indian soldiers. Our men in camouflage would lay down their lives to protect the country and its citizens in a heartbeat. They too believe in avenging senseless killings and ensuring that no innocent person unnecessarily pays for the wrongdoings of others. © Twitter But what makes them so special is that regardless of where they are and what they are upto, our soldiers never lose touch with their humane side, and always go out of their way to serve people, even off duty! We have heard about multiple instances when our soldiers went beyond their call of duty to help people in need. They not only save lives but also inspire others to live a life where there is always space and time to accommodate the needs of others. © Twitter Something very similar happened recently in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur area where CRPF personnel of the CoBRA battalion were seen carrying an injured man on a cot to a hospital that was 5 km away. According to an ANI report, the injured man had hurt himself by falling off a tractor and required treatment. The CRPF personnel carried the man on their shoulder and reportedly the man is now stable. © ANI Much like all the other instances of their selflessness and devotion, even this incident proves that our men in uniforms are nothing less than superheroes in disguise.
  7. Yesterday, we came across Babu Muddrappa, an auto driver in Bengaluru who took an abandoned pregnant woman to hospital, paid her medical bills and even took care of the baby as his own, when her mother fled. We salute Babu for everything he did for the mother and the baby. People like Babu are rare to find, but not impossible and this brings us to another unsung hero of our society, Maqbool. In case you didn't know, there is a curfew going on in riot-hit Hailakandi, Assam. In the ongoing communal clashes, Maqbool, with prayers on his lips, drove his auto-rickshaw as fast as he could to take a pregnant Hindu woman to hospital. © Pexels If there was a face for the idiom, "A friend in need is a friend indeed", it will probably be Maqbool's, who helped his neighbour Rubon Das and his wife Nandita in the time of crisis. Rubon was desperately calling his near and dear ones to help him arrange for an ambulance to take his wife to hospital, "I was trying to calm my wife down saying someone will surely come to take us to hospital in Hailakandi town." Nandita's pain increased, but no help came for them in the curfew hit area. © Pexels At that time, Maqbool heard Rubon's story and without thinking twice he rushed to his residence with his auto-rickshaw. Maqbool was only worried about whether he will make it in time or not, while speeding through the roads. He said, "I was trying to comfort them…. telling them everything will be fine. But I myself was praying." Thanks to Maqbool, Nandita who was in an advanced stage of labour, could reach the hospital on time and give birth to a boy who they have now named, 'Shanti'. Honestly, there couldn't have been a better name than that. © Pexels "We need more such examples of Hindu-Muslim unity and amity," said Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, when she visited the new-born baby and the parents. She also congratulated Maqbool for helping his friend in the time of distress. Just when we think the society has become selfish and heartless, where no one wants to help one another; some people come around and make this world a better place to live in with their selfless acts of kindness.
  8. In a society where people don't want to 'meddle' or interfere in others' affairs, even if that 'affair' means someone dying on the road, can we imagine people going out of their way to help someone who is a complete stranger? Can we imagine someone coming forward to actually help instead of clicking pictures and recording videos? Ask yourself guys, How often have you gone beyond your way to help a stranger? But, Babu Muddrappa is different and probably that's the reason he deserves all our respect. © BCCL Babu Muddrappa, just like any other day, was driving his auto in Bengaluru. On April 15, while looking for passengers, his life changed in a way even he didn't expect. Babu saw a pregnant woman lying on the road, screaming in pain. Although there were a lot of people standing around the woman, nobody came forward to help. So without thinking twice, Muddrappa rushed the pregnant woman to a nearby hospital, but due to lack of facilities she was referred to CV Raman Hospital. Since the woman could barely speak and refused to give details about her family, Babu admitted her with whatever money he had at the moment. © Pexels Thanks to Babu's selflessness, the woman reached the hospital in time and gave birth to a baby girl. However, what happened next broke our heart, but also raised our respect for Babu. The baby was facing trouble breathing and the mother had abandoned the baby and fled the hospital. Babu wrapped the baby in a cloth and drove his auto as fast as he could, to take her to another hospital in Shivajinagar for better treatment. He used all his savings to admit the baby and took care of her like his own child, while praying to God for her health. From getting milk for the baby every day, taking care of all the hospital bills to going to police stations in search of the missing mother, Babu did everything he could in his capacity. © Pexels However, after a few days, the baby's condition deteriorated and she passed away. He told The Logical Indian, "My heart broke. I decided to bury the baby myself, along with some police officers. In those few days, I had developed love and fondness for the baby." He further said, "I do not know if the woman who fled will ever be found, or what will follow. While I feel sad every time I think of the little girl who died, I am also aware that I did everything in my power to help both the mother and the child." People like Babu Muddrappa make this world a better place to live in.
  9. One of the first lessons most elementary schools try to imbibe in young minds reads something like, “a simple act of kindness goes a long way”. That is probably what we were also taught back in the day, but while many forget these precious lessons after writing those answers for the moral science paper, there is a young boy who became an overnight sensation for not only keeping this lesson close to his heart, but also applying it when it was most needed. Earlier this month, a 6-year-old boy named Derek C Lalchhanhima from Sairang in Mizoram went viral for inspiring the young and old through a simple act of kindness. Derek had accidentally run over his neighbour's chicken while cycling, and then rushed it to the nearest hospital with all the money he had (Rs. 10) to save it's life! People hailed his kindness and soon Derek turned into a school hero after he was rewarded by School St. Pio with a 'Word of Appreciation' award for his thoughtful gesture. But that's not all. More appreciation and awards have poured in for Derek who has now been declared as a 'Compassionate Kid' by animal rights organisation, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Underscoring the importance of furthering emotions of empathy and kindness towards animals in young children, PETA made a statement on this honour conferred on Derek and said, “Developing empathy for animals is a key step towards developing empathy for – and rejecting violence against – all beings, including humans. It's important, therefore, that students learn at an early age that the animals with whom we share this planet are, in many ways, not so different from us.” Look at Derek with his PETA award: © Twitter It is great to see the encouragement and appreciation that Derek has received for his sweet act. It will not only further motivate him to keep moving in this path, but also inspired many young minds like Derek to follow in the same footsteps.
  10. They say that God often heeds the prayers of young kids. The reason cited is pretty simple and straightforward. Children are innocent and their hearts are pure, uncorrupted by the world's twisted ways of existence. Their earnest wishes, and innocence make them God's most favourite subjects. Not sure about the bit involving God, but everything that has been said about young kids being truthful and full of innocence and goodness is absolutely true. © Pixabay They will share their chocolate with you without a second thought, throw a fit of terror and shed a tear for the deer that lost its life to the leopard on National Geographic and hoot every time the hero wins over the evil monster and save the day! Above all else, kids are honest about their thoughts and selfless with the love and kindness that they have to share. A rather strange incident from Northeast is proof of all this that we just pointed out. © Flickr A little boy accidentally ran over his neighbour's chicken while cycling. Heartbroken and sad, the boy rushed the chicken to the nearest hospital along with all the money he had. A picture showing the boy carrying the chick has since gone viral on social media. The silent plea for help on the kid's face is heartwarming. We hope this boy and many others grow up feeling for every living being around them, and grow up to be young men and women who respect and care for every life on earth. The comments section of the post is filled with praises for the boy's kind gesture. A user wrote, “this kind of humanity, innocent and pure”, while another blessed the young boy in the comments. Many others have praised the little boy's parents for raising a child who knows how to care, while another user suggested that adults take a lesson from the kid. How a thoughtful act has brought so many people together.
  11. Seems like Apple was able to save yet another life, thanks to its heart rate sensor as it was able to detect unusual activity in a man's pulse rate. The Apple Watch has been known to be able to save lives via features that are in-built in the smartwatch. In this particular case, the man was diagnosed with tachycardia. © YouTube The man was Science Friday radio host Ira Flatow's brother and the incident was tweeted by him saying “saved by his Apple Watch,” The Apple Watch alerted him to a rapid heartbeat and suggested that he should visit a hospital. My brother was saved by his Apple Watch. After he felt a rapid heart beat >200 bpm, his watch told him to “go to the hospital.” He did and his tachycardia was diagnosed. — Ira Flatow (@iraflatow) March 7, 2019 Tachycardia is a condition when the heart rate exceeds the normal resting rate. Generally, if the resting heart rate is above 10 beats per minute, the condition is considered "tachycardia". Flatlow continued to say that his brother commented on the accuracy of his Apple Watch “and BTW, during the 15 hours I was at the hospital hooked up to the monitors, my the monitors never disagreed with my watch's reading. I checked MANY times.” © MensXP It's not the first time where the Apple Watch was able to save someone's life. Recently, a Norwegian man was saved by his Apple Watch thanks to its fall detection feature. If you want to know other instances where the Apple Watch was able to save a life, you can read all about it here.
  12. The Indian Army is an epitome of true valour and righteousness, wherever it's needed. They're almost invincible yet dignified, ferocious and mighty, as well as compassionate. And we only believe these things because we always read about the great work they are doing, while protecting our borders. Recently, the Indian army marched towards another great feat by rescuing a pregnant woman , who was stuck in bad snow to deliver her babies. On the 8th of February, a villager from the same village as the pregnant woman called the company commander of the Thana Panar Camp at Bandipur and asked for help to take his wife Gulshana Begum to the hospital there. Due to Jammu & Kashmir's heavy snowfall, the man couldn't take his wife, since the roads were all blocked and the temperature fell to about minus seven degrees Celsius. The situation was so grave that the woman had to be rushed to the hospital and she couldn't waste any time. © Twitter Upon hearing about the situation at hand, the soldiers of Bandipur National Rifles reached the woman's house, braving bad road conditions and heavy snowfall. They carried her out on a stretcher for about 2.5 kms, before putting her in an army ambulance. © Twitter The men had already spoken to the required doctors before they even reached the hospital in Bandipur, just so there wouldn't be any time wasted and the woman could have a safe and healthy delivery. Fortunately, upon reaching the hospital on time and after some check-ups, it was confirmed the woman would be having twins. If it wasn't for the army's presence in the nick of time, she wouldn't have been able to even make it to the nearest hospital. © Twitter Indian Army as an organisation has been taken for granted beyond measure time and again, especially in Jammu and Kashmir where they are vigilant day and night about terrorist activities. The locals aren't very fond of the army and they definitely have unpleasant feelings towards them. But more often than not, the army goes out of its way to help the local, sizeable population in any way they can and they recognise the importance of an emergency and lack of help in some regions of J&K. That's why they're always there, fighting every cause. Here's to the Indian Army for always lending a helping hand to people when they need them. We're sure Gulshana Begum's twins will have something to thank the Indian Army about. Who knows they might join the ranks someday!
  13. There have been numerous games that have proven to be extremely addictive. CS: GO and Dota were known to be among the most addictive multiplayer games out there and the gaming craze has now made its way to mobile phones. Mobile phones themselves have a record of being very addictive, whether it's for social networking or just killing time, these portable gadgets are a core part of our lives today. Since the launch of PUBG on Android and iOS, users have been known to get exceedingly attached to the game. Playing a multiplayer game with your friends takes this a level further. Addictions come from a lot of things and substance abuse has been leading the charts for centuries. Today, we have become victim to portable games like PUBG and Fornite. © Android Authority PUBG Mobile has been bringing out constant features and updates which can lead to anyone getting addicted to the game. New additions to the game include maps, guns, and even challenges. In an attempt to prove supremacy, we often forget that games are built to relieve stress, not add more. In a disturbing new development, a fitness trainer from Jammu has reportedly lost his mental balance after playing the game for 10 days. According to The Indian Express, the fitness trainer got addicted to the game and played it for nearly 10 days in a row. He had to be hospitalized after he started hitting himself with blows and caused significant injury. © BlueStacks "The patient is unstable at the moment and has partially lost his mental balance," a doctor (neurologist) treating him said in anonymity. The doctor further added that even though he was recognizing people, his mind was not very conscious and still under the influence of the game. The hospital sources claimed that it was the sixth similar case to be reported in the city. Doctors have appealed to the public to keep a close watch on children who are playing the game very intensively. There have been signs that those who are playing the game so intensively are often left ignored and not understood by their loved ones. © PUBG Corporation Jammu locals have appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik to ban such “life-threatening” games in the state and the country as well. We all want to grab that Chicken Dinner but shouldn't forget that these are simply minor virtual pleasures of life and not worth being taken so seriously. Source: The Indian Express
  14. A young bodybuilding enthusiast recently landed in the hospital after using a drug called AMP for his bodybuilding purposes. This case has yet again brought to light the dark side of enhanced bodybuilding. Steroids, which were once and rightfully used in the professional category, has seeped into the routine of rookie fitness enthusiasts. Kids no younger than 20-22 with no lifting-age at all, are going to the extent of 'whatever it takes' to look good. One such case is that of this young bodybuilding rookie from Delhi who landed himself in serious trouble after using an animal compound. A Lesson For EVERY Gullible Young Guy Looking For Shortcuts In Bodybuilding The story broke out when a family from south-west Delhi approached the Psychiatry department in one of Delhi's biggest hospitals. Parents were worried about their 21-year-old son who was slipping into depression. © Pixabay His sleep cycle was extremely disturbed; he was depressed and had terrible mood swings. After countless efforts, a very comprehensive diagnosis was run on the guy. What was revealed afterwards, rattled his parents to the bone. The young lad was addicted to a drug called 'AMP5'. Revelations followed and he disclosed that his gym trainer regularly injected him with the drug as a 'pre-workout' ritual. His gym trainer had told him that this compound will help him work out for hours without getting tired and help him build more muscle. Starting from 1ml/day, the dosage shot up to 5ml/day. Since he could see the 'gains' after using injections, he kept on increasing the dosage. He even went on to win a few local-run-of-the-mill-bodybuilding competitions while he was using this drug. What Happened When He Stopped The nightmare started when dropped off the drug. From someone who could workout in the gym for more than 3 hours, he could now barely keep himself awake for daily chores. In short- he was now addicted to AMP5. © Pubmed His system had become so habitual to its usage that it couldn't handle the sudden withdrawal. He tried his best but he could not give up taking AMP injections. Soon his family realized his drug user behaviour and reached out for medical help. Presently, he is being treated with anti-depressant medicines and stimulants. AMP 5 Is Not For Humans AMP is short for adenosine Monophosphate and is NOT meant for bodybuilding. It's a drug that's used on animals. It works as a vasodilator that helps in infusing more blood into skeletal muscles to provide increased strength for exercise. It reduces fatigue to almost zero and also helps with fat oxidation by working as a hunger suppressant. However, it is illegally administered to horses before a race to enhance their performance. In some cases, it used on horses to cure various ailments as well. AMP 5 was never designed for human use. But then, bodybuilding these days is all about experimenting with various drugs to gain an edge and not just hard work and discipline. Well, guess what, one day you might have to pay for these experiments like this 21-year-old kid. So beware! I feel like it's a long-standing tradition for every actor playing a superhero to go and use that character as a way to make kids happy and Gal Gadot has also joined this incredible league.
