  1. Sleep is very important for human function. Not just from the bodybuilding perspective but also from the perspective of good health and performance. © Getty Images Poor sleeping habits can not only sabotage your fitness goals but it will also be harmful to your overall health in the long run. Now, there are various sleep boosting supplements available out there in the marking claiming to be effective sleep enhancers but I am going to discuss only the ones that actually work. Disclaimer: None of these supplements is a pure recommendation. They are just suggestions. Consult your doctor before taking any of these. 1. Magnesium Magnesium performs various essential biological functions including neurotransmitter synthesis. However, due to poor eating patterns people these days fail to take the recommended daily dosage of magnesium through diet. This eventually leads to various behavioural changes like stress and anxiety. Research conducted at the University of Geneva established a possible correlation between magnesium levels and sleep quality. In this research, subjects who supplemented with magnesium and whose magnesium levels were higher in the blood were able to have a more restful sleep as compared to people who were deficient. Thus, magnesium supplements can actually help you to enhance your quality of sleep. Start with a small dosage of 200mg to see the tolerance of your body and then increase the dosage according to your needs. 2. Ashwagandha According to research published in U.S national library of Medicine, Ashwagandha leaves contain 'triethylene glycol' which is a compound that has been found very useful in inducing sleep in humans. Another important finding of this study was that supplementing ashwagandha also increases the quality of sleep as subjects who took Ashwagandha supplements were able to go in the 'deep sleep' mode. Another advantage of Ashwagandha as a sleep supplement is that the body does not become addicted to it. You can stop taking Ashwagandha once you don't feel the need to take it anymore. © Getty Images 3. Valerian Valerian is a sleep-boosting herb that is more commonly used in the United States and Europe. However, these days you can find valerian herb supplements in the Indian online market too. According to a study published in the US National Library of Medicine, valerian has proven benefits to enhance the quality of sleep. These benefits come with no side effects like morning hangovers. Valerian is a potent herb thus you want to make sure that you start consuming it only in small amounts. 4. Melatonin Melatonin is a common over the counter drug that is generally prescribed to get rid of jet lag and to manage any kind of sleep disturbances. It is helpful in managing unbalanced circadian rhythms from jet lag. According to a study published in the National Library of Medicine, evidence exists to prove that melatonin may reduce the time it takes for people to fall asleep. However, melatonin is not a supplement that you can play around with. If you are taking concentrated melatonin alone, make sure to start with a low dosage. Compound supplements that contain melatonin as one of the components contain melatonin in small doses only which you may not worry about. Though the above supplements can help you to increase the quality of your sleep, it is always better to let your body do its routine activities without any supplements. Use any of these supplements to manage your sleep and discontinue when you feel that your sleeping cycles have become better. 2. You would have seen bodybuilders walk around the gym with a gallon flask of coloured water in the gym. You must have watched videos of bodybuilders and fitness YouTubers/Instagram influencers preach BCAAs in their top 3 supplements to gain muscle. Or to maintain muscle during a fat loss phase. (And they stick a discount code where they get a kickback) via GIPHY Seeing this, you invest a few thousand bucks in a supplement that says build muscle, burn fat, etc. on the label. You start expecting incredible results. You finish the entire supplement. And nothing happens... If you're smart enough, you have read my article on BCAAs and stopped buying them altogether. Or you can still believe that they will help you preserve muscle doing fasted training and keep consuming it as it keeps you anabolic. You should not, though. Know why? Well, because it's nothing but a joke. Here's why: To build muscle, you need protein. Everyone knows that. Even the most uninformed trainer will stress the importance of protein. via GIPHY Protein is made up of 22 amino acids structurally, 9 of them are essential (they need to be consumed via your diet) and the others, non-essential. BCAAs are three essential amino acids. They are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The reason BCAAs have become popular is that they contain the amino acid that triggers muscle protein synthesis. Namely, leucine. To build muscle, you need all the essential amino acids and not just the BCAAs. Supplementing only 3 of it does not help. Now, if you're training fasted and consuming BCAAs, the body will kick-start MPS. It still won't be able to carry out the process as the other 6 EAAs (essential amino acids) are missing. Your body will pull these 6 essential amino acids from the amino acid pool in your body. This, in turn, will lead to a decrease in the free amino acids in the amino acid pool and promote protein breakdown over time. Consuming BCAAs have also shown to reduce your muscle protein synthesis rates with time. Simply put, you will lose muscle in the long run if you are training fasted and consuming BCAAs. How to solve this problem? 1. Stop consuming BCAAs. Just ensure you're hitting adequate protein intake for the day Studies have shown that when compared like for like, Whey protein does a far superior job than BCAAs and EAAs in increasing the muscle protein synthesis rates. via GIPHY Prioritize your diet and get adequate protein from your food. If that is not possible, supplement with Whey protein. 2. Stop training fasted. There are literally no benefits to it Data points out that when comparing fasted vs fed training, there are no additional benefits to fat loss or muscle gain when nutrition and training are matched. If you are training fasted for additional benefits, they simply do not exist. BCAAs also have calories. So if you consume BCAAs, you are breaking your fast. Instead, have a small protein meal or a protein shake. 3. Just consume a protein shake if you train early in the morning and don't like having a solid meal via GIPHY That is what Whey protein is for. Simplicity and convenience. Use it that way. Again, it is not the Whey that will benefit you. It is the total protein intake for the day. Stop wasting your money on BCAAs. 4. It's a brand new year and with the brand new year comes a set of brand new resolutions. While I am sure you break one too many, there's a chance you may want to keep a few, just in case there's a chance to inculcate some good and healthy practices this year. © Getty images While I am not sure about other resolutions you want to keep (or not), there's no harm making a few to improve your dating game this year. If you're single and have decided to mingle this year, it's only fair if you act out on your game plan early this year. Here are 5 important dating resolutions that can help you with your dating game in 2019. If you decide to keep them, that is. (1) Give Up Your 'Fuckboi' Title If you're single and you attract women through your machismo and the fuckboi culture, maybe it's time to try another route because honestly, women just want straightforward equations and they will not settle for meandering ties and manipulations anymore. True story! So, if you're used to spinning yarns about your life and getting women in bed one after the other, slow down a bit and try dating a healthier way. Maybe sleeping around can be balanced with a healthy dating routine where you spend enough time getting to know someone genuinely? Who knows what you may find! © Pintrest (2) Get Out Of The Wrong Relationship In case you've been trying really hard to figure a way to get out of a toxic relationship or have fallen out of love with someone, then this is the year you wiggle your way out of that. Maybe have an honest talk about how you feel with the person and leave on a good note? It's important to leave giving absolute closure to something. Once you're done with that, the world's your playground this year! © Twitter (3) Try Dating Organically This one can be a first, after maybe 5 years? Dating apps don't give us a chance to explore the world a little more organically. You could be sitting at home, sipping your coffee and swiping too many rights at one go. It's a marketed business and sometimes it all seems like a set-up. Maybe, for your own tryst to find the 'right person', get out and get moving and give them dating apps a break? Head to a bar or a party or even a play. Who knows where and how you meet someone. It'll probably be different, in a good way to ask someone out on a date, away from your phone screen! © UTV Motion Pictures (4) Think Outside Your 'Type' If you've been going after a 'type' and it hasn't worked out well for you in the past, maybe it's time to break that pattern and go for someone who isn't your type at all. Whatever your type is, leave that this year. If you're just looking to casually date this year then I reckon go for someone who is a wee bit different and see what lies there. You might find something you like and you may hit it off rather well with her! © Eros International (5) Understand Consent While the freedom to do what you feel like is great, there are some things you really need to understand before you imply that to your lifestyle. Consent, for example, is rather important and has always been and it's not just for this year. But because there is more prevalence about understanding consent now, it's advisable to thoroughly understand it. When a girl says 'NO' to going out with you or to performing a sexual act or to holding your hand, respect it and don't persist further. It's that simple. Trust me, once you understand what they truly want, it becomes a lot easier to court them and it's a lot of fun too. 2019 is not the year you play any sort of games TBH. © Zee Studios These are a few resolutions you can start the year with. Go out more often with your pals, enjoy the city you're living in and find new ways to date women and don't break these resolutions! It's that simple.
  5. One of the most useful methods you can imply to get to know a girl, for dating purposes of course, is to know how to flirt with her and seem natural, all at once. It's definitely not easy and men take ages to even understand how to approach a girl. But once you have that sorted, the next few steps aren't distempered, as you'd like to believe. © Getty Images First off, let's determine what flirting actually is. So, flirting can be classified as serious, or just for fun and it's all based on what your intention actually is. A lot of men and women like to flirt just for some fun and a light chatter, that can make them feel a little at ease. Some men and women also flirt despite being in relationships, as they presume it to be a healthy habit. But a lot also flirt to seek serious relationships with the people they're flirting with. © Getty Images So, flirting can be defined as showing interest in someone for fun or with a serious intent. Whatever your intention is, there is a process you can follow that will subtly make you a flirting marvel and it'll just seem like you're a natural at it! Here's a 6-step guide to approach women and healthily flirt with them and seem natural, all at once! Step One: Approach Her Confidently The best way to approach a girl straight up is to make eye contact with her and smile (not in a creepy way obviously). If you think and wait it out, you'll obviously feed your fear, nervousness or your anxiety even more. So, just look at her and if she smiles back (which she will if you seem genuine), then walk up to her. © Getty Images Step Two: Start With A Compliment As old-fashioned and dated as this sounds, women love compliments. Heck, anyone loves receiving compliments, so when you do approach her, complimenting her is the best way to start a conversation. It's not tough to do so. All you have to do is pick one thing you like about her and just give her the compliment. You have to seem genuine about it and not like you're making it up to fit into her good books. A very important thing to remember is to NEVER USE PICK-UP LINES on her. They're really 2000 and lame. © Getty Images Step Three: Make It Fun(ny) Flirting shouldn't be taken as a serious outgoing thing to do but something fun. Even though your intentions might be serious with the woman, you can still stir up some fun and make it light and interesting and yes, funny! Humour is the best added element in a conversation and if you're flirting with someone being funny is definitely a one up. But of course making a girl laugh is totally up to your personality and the sense of humour you have. If you think you need to brush up on it, maybe have some light and funny jokes ready, when you do approach her. © Getty Images Step Four: Initiate Gentle Caressing A gentle touch is rather important in this situation. And by 'touch' I don't mean inappropriately. I mean gentle caresses on her shoulder or the small of her back, to make her feel comfortable and excited all at once. It's a given that when someone you're attracted to touches you, the heart rate definitely increases. So, if you're successfully flirting with her and she's enjoying the attention, a gentle caress would definitely do the trick. © Getty Images Step Five: Keep The Conversation Going This is rather simple if you're a talker, but if you aren't, then think of things you can talk to her about. Make sure, you don't make the conversation only about yourself. Balance it out a bit. Talk to her about her interests and activities and narrate anecdotes, which are rather funny in nature, from your life. If you keep the conversation running and interesting, she's bound to listen and talk and make it a point to stick around. © Getty Images Step Six: It's Time To Ask For Her Number Yup, after you've established a good base by following the steps above, it's time to ask for her number. You'll know for sure if you should ask for it or not. But to be absolutely sure, you can tell her you enjoyed talking to her but you need to part ways. Tell her you two should definitely catch up more sometime and look into her eyes and ask for her number, smile and say goodbye. And with her number in your hand, give her a call after a few days, to actually catch up for round two! © Getty Images It may sound rather tough to follow all the 6 steps successfully, but it's really simple if you have enough confidence and your will is strong. If she doesn't pay much heed to you, it's OKAY to move on and not feel too dejected. But if the six steps are a success, you're definitely doing it all right.
  6. There is nothing more important for a human being than their self-esteem and if you have issues with lowered self-esteem, it is about time you improve your self-love game. If our self-esteem is meek, we might not get a chance to do many things the way we want to. An inevitable attaché with self-esteem is self-confidence. One cannot survive without the other and it's important to have both at a familiar periphery, so you feel good about yourself constantly. © Thinkstock The alpha male syndrome is synonymously made from a good amount of self-esteem. Even beta males, for instance, work a lot on their self-esteem to look for a life partner well suited to them. So, when you think it's time to approach women, a lowered sense of self certainly doesn't work and it might not work out well for you. Women don't seek good looks as much as they seek a well confident man who is sure of himself. So, in order to build your self-esteem and reach your acquired goal in life, here are 3 enablers that can help you move past anything that is holding you back, to build it in the first place: (1) Know Yourself Well Enough Before attempting to know another person, make sure you know yourself well enough. Know what motivates you, what inspires you and what puts you down. If you have catalysts that are negative in a thought process, kill them instantly, so that they don't hamper your thoughts further. The introspection can get exhausting yes, but it's important to know every emotion you have, in order to validate your existence and give you the desired results. If you know yourself well enough, you can ward off the bad and keep the good, making you a more confident person. So, take some time out to spend with yourself and build a fierce combination of emotions and rationality within you. No one wants to know a man who doesn't really know himself or isn't sure of himself! © Pintrest (2) Always Put Yourself First I know this might sound fairly selfish but in the long run, you'll understand how it's not selfish at all and is a way of self-preservation. You don't have to be selfless all the time and let go of your ego to please others. You can do it for a loved one, but when it comes to preserving yourself, you should act on intuition more than anything else. If you put yourself first, you build on your self-esteem. For instance, if someone asks you to watch their dog for the weekend and you're not comfortable around dogs, you can say no! You don't have to say yes and weaken what you feel. You can always explain to someone the reason behind your disagreement. In order to build a sheer amount of confidence, it's always okay to put your feelings and needs first, before anyone else's. © Thinkstock (3) Don't Let Rejection Put You Down Rejection is tough, agreed. It plays havoc in your mind, especially if you're rejected by someone you really like. There are ways to deal with rejection and move on in life, but for that to happen you have to be open to the idea of normalising rejection in your head. Rejection can deter your spirit and hamper your self-esteem, but it doesn't necessarily have to do that. If you're strong enough, you can accept failures and rejection as a part of life and learn from that experience, instead of letting it put you down. Rejection stems from certain insecurities but if you get to know your insecurities well and yourself better, there is no way you can't let go of anything that is negative. © Pintrest Self-esteem is important for everyone. In this case, it might be important to get the girl of your dreams but if we generalise it, it's the most important asset to have, in order to move forward in life and achieve any kind of success. Keep these three things in mind to build on your self-esteem and you will surely have what you want and need!

Qualcomm says users will get up to 20 times faster average performance compared to some of the current networks. Don't get too excited about 5G right now though, it's going to take a long time to arrive in India. © Twitter / Patrick Moorhead Compared to 2018's Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm is promising a 45 percent faster CPU (Central Processing Unit) and a 20 percent faster GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). It sports smaller transistors and is built on TSMC's 7nm process that has lower power consumption and better efficiency. Now, Qualcomm's chip is on par with Apple's A12 Bionic chipset that also ships with a 7nm process. The Snapdragon 855 comes with a custom Kryo 485 CPU built on ARM Cortex Technology. You get one prime core Cortex A76 clocked at 2.84GHz, three Cortex A76-based performance cores clocked at 2.42GHz, and four Cortex A55-based efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The GPU consists of an Adreno 640 unit that supports 10-bit HDR gaming for the first time. © Twitter / Anshel Sag For the camera, it comes with Qualcomm's Spectra 380 ISP (Image Signal Processor) that can integrate computer Vision-powered portrait modes and AR/VR functions. This direct integration leads to a significant speed boost and reduces power consumption. In simpler words, the chipset is capable of hardware-based depth sensing, object classification, and shoot real-time HDR at 4K resolution. Qualcomm is also finally shifting from JPEG to HEIF images for pictures. JPEG doesn't support portrait effects and HDR natively and hence takes up more space in terms of memory. HEIF standard ensures maximum detail while taking minimum storage. © Qualcomm AI tasks are going to be much faster and in-depth thanks to supporting of the Adreno, Kyro, and Hexagon processors. These processors can work mutually to power AI tasks and together form the company's 4th-generation multi-core AI Engine. Qualcomm has also collaborated with Google's TensorFlow library for on-device mobile performance. These specifications and details have been outlined only on paper right now and we can test the actual performance difference only when the chipset is out, powering a publicly released phone. Though, Qualcomm has definitely upped its game against rising competition from other chipmakers like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.

  9. The process of digestion is important, as this is where the breaking down of food into nutrients happen, which then the body uses for energy, growth, and cell repair. Food and drink that we consume pre or post workout must be changed into smaller molecules of nutrients before the blood can absorb them and carry them to the various cells throughout the body. The three storage places are muscle glycogen, liver glycogen and fat cells. The body breaks down these nutrients that we consume into macro nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, fats, and micro nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. © Thinkstock Digestion And Weight Loss Not many people are aware but the impact of digestion on weight loss is significant. Digestion is the process of breaking down food so that the body can use it for energy for various activities throughout the day, apart from giving you the energy to lift those heavy weights. Without proper digestion, the body would find it difficult to absorb the nutrients it needs for health functioning for your whole body. Improper digestion will keep you constantly hungry, storing fuel in the form of adipose tissue (fat) instead of using it immediately for its required purposes. How To Improve The Process Of Digestion For Fat Loss? More Fiber If you have a healthy digestive system, this will ensure your weight-loss plan will be successful. One way to improve your digestion to accelerate fat loss would be to make sure to consume enough fibre and fluids. Increasing your physical activity in any way will contribute to the calorie expenditure. Remember, any physical activity done for the body will burn calories. Even digestion burns calories; although you cannot compare it to the calorie burn from physical activity, doing anything healthy to ensure calorie expenditure would be great. Thermogenic effects of food needs to be taken into consideration, foods that take longer to break down will help with the calorie expenditure. © Thinkstock What Fiber Does Fibrous food has a higher Thermogenic effect, which means it takes time to digest. It challenges your digestive enzymes. Since it is not broken down completely but stays intact partially it passes through your digestive tract. As it travels, it forms a gel and absorbs some excess fat, cholesterol and sugar, which is passed through your stool. Foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seed, beans and legumes provide fibre. Also vegetables such as greens, tomatoes, broccoli and eggplant are good low-calorie options for weight loss. High-fibre foods are more nutritious than their low-fibre alternatives; whole grains offer more nutrients than refined white grains. High-fibre foods contain more vitamins and minerals important for your metabolism. Fluids Fluid consumption is important for weight loss and proper digestion because you need fluids for a lot of body functions. In terms of convenience, moving food through your digestive tract and clearing out the waste from your body. Drinking insufficient water will cause dehydration and dehydration can cause constipation, which can lead to weight gain from bloating. You need to drink at least 1 glass of water every 1 hour. Not many people know this but thirst is already an indication that the body is dehydrated. Drinking less water will also cause problems such as fatigue. Consulting with your sports nutritionist about your fluid needs, especially if you tend to retain water under the skin is very important. How much water one needs to drink is a question and will depend on many factors, including current health status, weight and activity level, weather and geographical locations. Conclusion The process of human excreting is very simple if enough fiber and fluids are present in the body. If they aren't, problems like bloating, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome show up. This can and will in longer runs mess with your fat loss or muscle building goals. Helius is one of Mumbai's most promising fitness professionals and part time kettle bell lecturer. 11. Whatever the purpose of a community - be it customer support, fan engagement, interest-based groups and so on - there's usually a need for site staff to communicate important information to users. Of course, in some cases this information is best suited to a site announcement, which by design has a lot of visibility and authority. But it's important that day to day staff posts stand out too. As we'll discuss in future articles, a key part of engagement is that users see your organization's team interacting with the community. In many cases, users will expect and appreciate acknowledgement from your community team, and by highlighting those responses you can add a visible stamp of authority. Invision Community has a few different tools to help you highlight staff posts, so let's take a look at them in more detail. Group badges With group badges you can upload a small image that is shown beside a user's posts. It's shown alongside the user's group name, so you don't need to repeat that text. Each group can have a different badge, perfect for communities that structure their staff groups based on role type. It's common to color-code group badges for easier identification - support as green, product development as blue, and so on (and you may want to coordinate these colors with the prefix and suffix you use, which we cover later in this article). It's not just staff groups that can have badges, either; your regular member groups can too. However, a word of caution! If every group has a badge, they may lose their distinctiveness. We recommend reserving group badges for those groups you specifically want to draw attention to. Post highlights Second is a feature more explicitly designed to highlight a post rather than simply draw attention to the author. Group settings in Invision Community enable you to choose to have posts by users in each group show with a distinctive background color and border. The color is defined by your theme and so is easily configurable, too. As with group badges, it may be tempting to highlight every group's content, but we recommend not doing so as that reduces the overall impact of the feature. Keep it reserved for your key staff groups, and especially those that regularly interact with the community. Group prefix/suffix Invision Community allows you to define a custom prefix and suffix for each group. This is used in key locations, including to highlight usernames in the Active User block and to style member group names alongside content. An important part of this feature is that it accepts HTML tags, which gives you a lot of scope for customizing the display by adding an opening and closing HTML tag to the prefix and suffix settings, respectively. For example, let's say we want to add a shield icon before the name, and make the text purple. Prefix: <span style='color: #9013FE'><i class='fa fa-shield'></i> Suffix: </span> Simple! Now our staff members will display in the Active User block and elsewhere like this: Bonus feature: Staff activity streams I wanted to also mention a feature that achieves a slightly different goal to those we covered above, but nonetheless is an important way to bring additional visibility to staff content: activity streams. As well as an overall “All Activity” stream that shows everything happening in the community, Invision Community allows you to define pre-made streams that are available to all users. You can use this to build streams of content with particular tags, certain types of content - or, as in this case, content by users in specific groups. Simply create a new activity stream in the Admin Control Panel, set the configuration so that it only pulls content from members in your staff groups, and you're done. Users will now be able to visit the stream page to get a handy overview of everything staff members are doing in your community. I recommend checking out the other filter options available for streams while you're setting this up - there's a huge amount of power available! Summing up I hope this quick overview of content highlighting features has been useful. When users visit your community, they're usually looking for authoritative information and that often comes right from your own team. By utilizing the features we've discussed here, you can make that information stand out more against the other content in your community.
