  1. Sawai Padmanabh Singh, the young Maharaja of Jaipur, does know how to make headlines even without intending to. Be it walking the ramp for the most luxurious brands at the young age of 19, or hobnobbing with fashion and business giants despite just being in his early '20s, this man does put the edge back on royalty. View this post on InstagramOther than being an absolutely dashing Maharaja who has adorned the covers of the biggest magazines out there apart from his throne, the young monarch, affectionately called 'Pacho', is also an accomplished Polo player. View this post on InstagramHe has a penchant for high fashion amalgamated with traditional royal values, and he does exude that incomparable exuberance even in pictures. He just shared some intimate pictures from the royal Holi celebrations, and the sheer grandness of it reminded us of a Bhansali movie set. What we absolutely had to focus on, is the stylistic abandon with which the royals function, and of course - the magnificence of the clothes involved. Take a look! © Instagram/benediktloebell © Instagram/benediktloebell Is there anything quite like a royal Indian entry? 2. Passenger planes haven’t really changed much or look quite similar to jets people used to travel on in the late 1960s. Sure, there are some exceptions like the Concorde but then again that aeroplane was discontinued from service on April 10th 2003. The plane was a marvel when it came to supersonic travel speeds but it really wasn’t cost-effective for airlines to operate. Today, the best selling planes happen to be the narrow-body aircraft used for point-to-point travel. However, the future looks very different if we are to go by what aircraft manufacturers are working on. Air Travel is bound to change 30-50 years from now and here are some examples of aircraft that we might use for travel in the future: 1. Airbus Maveric © Airbus If you look from afar, this plane looks like a flying wedge and that’s because it uses a “Blended Wing Body” design. The design is still a concept at the moment and Airbus have tested a small scale remote-controlled drone to test the design’s viability. Airbus says the design has "great potential” since it does not have a traditional fuselage and the weight that comes with it. The blended wing body design is quite common to see in military aircraft and sooner or later it will trickle down to passenger aircraft as well. The radical design also might reduce emissions from air travel to half by 2050. 2. Flying-V © Delft Technology University The Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have also designed a radical-looking aircraft that could be the future of air travel. The “Flying V’ is a new concept of long-haul passenger aircraft where passengers and cargo can be carried within the wings themselves. The entire plane is shaped like an arrowhead and will be cheaper to manufacture than a blended wing aircraft. The aircraft’s flight capabilities have been tested on a battery-powered drone that has a wingspan of 9ft. The test was a massive success and who knows we might even see Flying-V’s design become a reality soon. 3. Boom © BOOM As we mentioned before, Supersonic air travel has gone backwards ever since Concorde went out of service. Concorde was able to cross the Atlantic in about three hours from London, however it used up a lot of fuel and in turn, had tickets that used to cost more than most people’s full-year's wages. However, a Silicon Valley startup and Japan Airlines is looking to change that with Boom Supersonic. The commercial aircraft that is currently under development is expected to fly at speeds of Mach 2.2 with lower costs than the Concorde. 4. Spaceliner © DLR A concept project by DLR and the German Aerospace Research Institute, this spacecraft is expected to run somewhat similar to the Virgin Galactic. The craft will travel at the edge of the atmosphere so that it can go 25 times faster than the speed of sound. This speed will enable passengers to travel from London to Australia in about 90 minutes. View the full article

  4. Samsung has now made the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 official in India by releasing the pricing and availability details. The smartphones were announced earlier this week and include the A52 which comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display that also has a 90Hz refresh rate. The smartphone has a 4,500 mAh battery and comes with a 15W charger in the box. The other device is the Galaxy A72, which, on the other hand, comes with a larger 6.7-inch AMOLED display that also has a 90Hz refresh rate. The A72 is also powered by a larger 5,000 mAh battery. Both smartphones also support 25W fast charging via the power delivery protocol. © Samsung What comes as a surprise is that both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor instead of Samsung’s own Exynos chipset. The phones also come with IP67 water and dust rating. Both smartphones run on OneUI 3.1 based on Android 11 out of the box. Additionally, both devices also come with a stereo speaker with support for Dolby Atmos content and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Both smartphones will be available in four colour options that have a matte finish at the back. Pricing and Availability View the full article
  5. Mi India is all set to launch the next budget smartphone that is probably the most important launch for the company for the year. However, the smartphone in question i.e. the Redmi Note 10 has already fully leaked via a YouTube channel. The leak shows off all the specifications for the smartphone which will make customers quite excited about it. © Xiaomi-Leaks-PH The image that leaked online reveals that the Redmi Note 10 will have Qualcomm’s latest 11nm Snapdragon 678 chipset that was announced by Qualcomm last December. This is the first time we’re seeing a Super AMOLED display on a Redmi Note smartphone which some might consider a significant upgrade. However, it remains to be seen how the quality of the display will actually be. © Xiaomi-Leaks-PH The Redmi Note 10 is also expected to come with a quad-camera setup that will include a 48MP primary sensor. Other sensors include an ultra-wide sensor and a macro lens as well. The photos also reveal that the smartphone will support 33W fast charging and will most probably support the Power Delivery protocol. The phone is also rumoured to have a 5,900mAh battery. © Xiaomi-Leaks-PH Mi India is also expected to launch a second ‘Pro’ model which is expected to come with upgraded specs compared to the regular Redmi Note 10 model. For starters, the smartphone is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G chipset which we’ve already seen on the Mi10i. A third ‘Max’ model is also expected to launch alongside the two models where it will have a larger screen. Not much else is known about the ‘Max’ model as of now. Mi India will launch the Redmi Note 10 series on March 4th in India and we will know more about the upcoming smartphone on launch day. View the full article

  7. We know the pandemic still has most of us pinned inside our homes but we can't help but feel like reconsidering the necessity of in-person work. It first started with Microsoft's building inspired by the Taj Mahal and now we have this very unique-looking building from Amazon. Amazon unveiled designs for its new Arlington, Virginia-based outpost and it features a very wild-looking tower called the 'Helix'. It's a 350ft structure that's covered with trees and plants running around like green ribbons. Amazon calls this building 'Helix' because its corkscrew shape is supposed to take inspiration from "the natural beauty of a double helix." Well, that's what Amazon says, but most people, on Twitter and other social media platforms, are wondering if it looks more like ice-cream or a poop emoji. Here, check it out - © Amazon On the inside, the building has a variety of different work environments that the employees can use. On the outside, the company says there'll be two sets of spiraling paths filled with local plants that you'll literally be able to hike up. It looks like it's going to be a steep hike since we're talking about a vertical structure. Amazon will let outsiders visit the place on weekends once it's complete, so that's awesome. This, by the way, isn't the only unique structure Amazon will flaunt. The company also has a similar structure that stands out at its Seattle headquarters. There, it has three spheres surrounded by greenery. The Helix, in case you are wondering, is just a proposal for now and it'll need some local approval before the construction can begin. The building and surrounding campus were designed by the architecture firm NBBJ. The company is also planning to have a huge campus around it with room for retail stores and restaurants. © Amazon It'll be interesting to see how this building will take shape in the future. It may very well end up being one of the best workspaces in the world, if not the only one. We'll keep an eye on the updates regarding its construction and revert with more info. 8. Apple has been making great strides when it comes to audio products and it has now culminated to a product that we’ve been wanting for years. The AirPods Max was recently announced for Rs 59,900 which may not be as accessible to everyone after a year of misery. However, after using the headphones for well over ten days; I can confidently say that these headphones are one of the best consumer audio products ever made. While it might be a great audio product, there are a few choices here that baffle me when it comes to accessories and I shall get to that soon enough. Here’s everything you need to know about AirPods Max and my experience with it: Design © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Usually, headphones are built well enough for everyday use, however, in the case of the AirPods Max, Apple has taken it to the next level. The entire housing of the headphones apart from the mesh headband is made on aluminium. If you want to know what peak luxury design feels like, the AirPods Max is your answer. However, since the headphones are made of aluminium; it does add extra weight. To compensate for the weight, the headband is also quite different from what I am used to. It uses a mesh headband which reduces the pressure put on your head due to the weight. In our usage, I did not feel the weight at all thanks to this mesh headband and makes using metal headphones quite viable. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla My major issue with over-the-head headphones is a personal one since I wear glasses. Many a time I have found myself taking a break from over-the-head headphones as it causes quite a discomfort. In the case of the AirPods Max, after using it all day while working and writing stories; I did not experience the same discomfort. The insides of the earcups have a fabric padding which means these headphones are not ideal for use at the gym. On the outer side of the earcups, you will find four microphones on each cup that help in the noise cancellation feature and three additional microphones for voice pickup or making calls. On the upper right side of the earcup, you will also find a digital crown style dial that is used for music playback. The crown can also be used to adjust the volume by simply rotating it to either side. Right next to the Digital Crown dial, there is a dedicated button that can be used for activating or deactivating noise cancellation as well. Additionally, the headphones also come with an Optical sensor (each ear cup), Position sensor (each ear cup), Case-detect sensor (each ear cup), Accelerometer (each ear cup), and a Gyroscope (left ear cup) sensor. I Thought Cases Were Meant For Protection © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla While I do love things designed by Apple, in general, including these headphones, I really can’t justify the carrying case that comes with the AirPods Max. The main purpose of any case that comes with a headphone is to protect it from damage, scratches and dings. However, in the case of the AirPods Max; the carrying case does none of it. The only thing it is good at doing is putting the headphones to sleep when enclosed. It seems like the case was designed by an entirely different team which was not on the same page as the audio team. At best, the case only protects the earcups fully from the side which is not enough for a pair of headphones that cost as much as an iPhone. The most vulnerable part of the headphone is the mesh headband itself and it gets no protection whatsoever from the case. Even the bottom of the case does fully protect the earcups from fall damage. Thankfully, third party companies are now working on cases for the AirPods Max and make up for Apple’s mistake. I do have to say that I love the leather-type material of the case however it would have been a better offering if it protected the headphones. Sound Quality, Noise Cancellation and Features © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Now that I have that rant out of my system, it’s time to talk about what makes these headphones great. The AirPods Max are the pinnacle of great wireless audio products that is currently unmatched by its competitors. The sound quality is at par with some of the higher-end professional headphones that I use for mixing tracks. Every individual instrument track can be heard clearly and feels layered on the AirPods Max. The headphones shine the most when it comes to balancing low and mid frequencies which left me quite astonished. Mids don’t particularly the overpower the rest of the frequencies and is quite beautifully controlled. The high frequencies are extremely clear as it breathes life and excitement into punchier sounds and vocals. The AirPods Max might just be the best tuned wireless headphones I have used this past decade. Having said that, if you like to adjust your EQ there is no way to do that apart from using preset EQs from the settings menu on your iPhone. While you can adjust the EQ manually if you listen to music via Spotify, there’s no way to do that with Apple Music at the moment. So, if if you like to amp up the bass in your tracks or tone down the highs, you might be a bit disappointed here. One of my favourite features on the AirPods Max is its ability to use ‘Adaptive EQ’. The AirPods Max adults the sound according to the fit and seal of the ear cushions. The headphones use software and sensors to measure sound signal delivers to a user and adjusts the mid and low frequencies accordingly. Apple may not provide a manual EQ adjustment feature, it does however make up for it with this one feature. The AirPods Max marquee feature might be its sound, but that has been perfectly paired with great Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) performance. The outward-facing microphones at detecting ambient noise and isolate it when you’ve got ANC mode turned on. I couldn’t test the headphones outdoors but I’ve three particularly loud dogs. In my test scenario, the headphone was able to isolate the barking sounds from all three dogs quite effectively without comprising the integrity of the sound. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Noise cancellation also adapts according to fit and movement in real-time which means you can use them without hearing ambient noise when walking down the street. However, if you do wish to hear sounds from your surroundings, you can simply press the dedicated button to switch to ‘Transparency Mode’. This lets in ambient noise into the headphones and you can hear the surrounding sounds quite clearly as well. This is best used when you want to have a conversation with someone or want to be mindful of oncoming traffic on the street. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla For people who love to watch video content on their iPhones and iPads, the AirPods Max truly utilise the Spatial Audio feature to its full potential. It gives an atmospheric vibe to the sound and feels like as if you are watching content on a surround sound system. It’s immersive and comes very close to a home theatre experience. Having said that, you do need to watch the content of Apple TV+, Netflix or Prime Video that supports 5.1, 7.1, or Dolby Atmos sound. The headphones use the gyroscope to track a user’s head movement and remaps the sound field. No other headphone does this at the moment and proves Apple’s commitment to offering superior sound with their audio products. Battery Life © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The AirPods Max are rated to last 20 hours on a single charge while using ANC and in our tests, it comes quite close to that claim. If you want to save battery or turn off the headphones, you do have to put it inside the protective case that comes with the headphones. Battery life on the AirPods Max is long enough so that you can use it in some of the longest flights as well. Having said that, there is no additional audio port so that you can still listen to music in the event of zero per cent battery. You can, however, use a Lightning-to-Lightning or a Lightning to 3.5mm headphone cable to continue listening to the audio on your preferred device. I managed to use a Lightning to 3.5mm dongle and used it with the PlayStation 4’s controller for gaming sessions. The headphones were able to offer directional audio in games like Call of Duty: Warzone. The Final Say © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The AirPods Max gets many things right with its luxurious design and incredible sound performance. They sound fantastic and additional features like spatial sound, adaptive EQ and noise cancellation to enhance the overall experience. The AirPods Max are perfect for music listeners and movie watchers alike. However, I do feel Apple needs to go back to the drawing board when it comes to the case as it offers little to no protection. If you have been wanting the ultimate wireless headphones for your Apple device, the AirPods Max should be on the top of your list. View the full article
  9. If I had to choose the best gaming display available in the market for gamers, it has to be the LG UltraGear 27GN950. There’s no question that this monitor is probably the only gaming panel that gamers need for next-generation gaming. Whether you are a PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X gamer, this monitor ticks all the boxes. It is, by far, one of the fastest monitors we’ve ever used and for single-player gamers, the best panel to experience blockbuster games. This monitor aces in almost every department and with the new generation of consoles now available in India; the LG UltraGear 27GN950 is the ultimate gamer gear to own in 2021. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The LG UltraGear 27GN950 has a 27-inch 4K nano-IPS panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It even has support for HDR10 and DisplayHDR 600 content. It has a response time of 1ms and peak brightness level of 600 nits with HDR. Usually, you will find monitors in the market that sacrifice one or more of these features but this particular monitor has it all. Since it comes with everything you expect from a gaming monitor, it also comes with a hefty price tag. In India, the LG UltraGear 27GN950 costs Rs 59,999 which is not exactly affordable. However, in our eyes, this monitor is a great investment that will last you for at least seven years of gaming. Since this generation is going to be all about 4K gaming thanks to the new RTX 30- GPUs and next-gen consoles, this monitor fits the bill perfectly. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The monitor comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports which means you can push games to 4K resolution at 60Hz. While this may prevent higher refresh rate gaming on next-gen consoles at 4K resolution, but it isn’t really a big deal since we’re quite sceptical of consoles pushing higher frames at 4K anyway. Having said that, if you turn down your console’s resolution to 2K or 1440p resolution, you can achieve up to 120Hz refresh rate on the Xbox Series X. The PlayStation 5 currently does not offer 1440p resolution, however, we can expect an update in the near future that might support the lower resolution. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla However, if you wish to experience the full 4K 144Hz gaming performance, you can only achieve that from the DisplayPort. This is great news for PC gamers who recently purchased the new RTX 30- GPUs, as the monitor is also G-Sync compatible natively. Most monitors that are capable of pushing high frames tend to sacrifice picture quality but that is not the case with this NanoIPS panel. The colour accuracy, saturation levels, white balance and vibrancy is not only good for gaming but content creators alike. It’s one of the best IPS panels you can come across on a monitor for gaming, watching videos and editing images as well. LG’s calibration of both blacks and blue hues is also perfect which doesn’t need much messing around with. When it comes to the performance, the LG UltraGear 27GN950 is buttery smooth and in order to take full advantage of the panel, we tested it with the Zotac GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity. I tested a range of games such as Call of Duty Warzone, Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield V to test the colour accuracy and the refresh rate smoothness of the monitor. At 4K resolution, each game played extremely smooth at 144Hz refresh rate. The combination of finer details and high refresh rate is a rare feat in gaming monitors and the LG UltraGear 27GN95 achieves that flawlessly. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Having said that, not all is rosy about this monitor as we did find a few problems with its HDR performance. In every game that has support for HDR, it felt like the game looked a bit unnatural. It’s not the best HDR panel we’ve used and to be fair, it isn’t really a big requirement for games at the moment. I recommend using the LG UltraGear 27GN950 is SDR mode as the experience is far more pleasing to the eye. Another minor issue we were able to notice were ghosting effects at times which is quite common amongst monitors that run on 1ms response time. Having said that, the ghosting issue was far less prevalent on the LG UltraGear 27GN950 as compared to my personal Acer 1440p IPS 1ms 144Hz monitor. Other notable features include having the ability to plug USB drives straight into the built-in hub and can be connected via the supplied USB-A Male to Male cable. You can connect up to three USB drives that enable you to free up space from your PC’s motherboard. It’s a fairly common feature in modern monitors, however, we would have liked to see a USB-C port somewhere. The monitor also comes with an RGB backlight that helps in reducing strain on eyes and can be customised from your PC. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Other customisation options include setting up profiles from the monitor’s menus and even have the ability to adjust response times depending on your preference. There are preset profiles also available for different types of gamers such as FPS, RTS, and Vivid profiles. If you are simply reading content on the monitor, you can also enable a specific profile that adjusts the blue light filter according to the ambience. 10. TWS or truly wireless earbuds have taken off in India with so many options that sometimes it gets hard to pick the right one. However, it seems like I may have found one of the best TWS earbuds of 2020 by an unlikely audio company i.e. Anker. Anker is known for making great chargers and power banks, however I never expected the company to deliver a great audio product. I’ve been using the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro for quite some time during this work from home scenario and feel these earbuds can give companies like Samsung and Apple a run for their money. Here’s what I think about the TWS earbuds by Anker: Design The moment you look at the Liberty 2 Pro earbuds the first thing you will notice is its bulky design. The Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro are probably one of the biggest earbuds you will find in the market and probably the heaviest as well. In fact, my only complaint about the earbuds is its sheer size and the fact that the earbud awkwardly sticks out from the ear when using. If you are looking for earbuds that have a smaller profile, these might not be for you. However, if you can ignore the design and want something that delivers great sound, you may want to consider the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro puts the big size to good use as it features Astria Coaxial Acoustic Architecture (or ACAA) drivers or in other words, the two drivers are put on top of one another. This unique design choice has a direct effect on the sound quality especially if you don’t like lower frequencies overpowering the mid and high frequencies. We’ll talk more about the sound performance later but we had to mention the unique driver placement that is probably the cause for the TWS’ bigger size. Each earbud also comes with a button which can be used to control music playback, volume control, track skipping and even voice assistant activation. However, since there are only two buttons, you can only assign two functions to either of the buttons via the Soundcore app. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro also has an IPX4 water resistance rating which means you can use it while working out. The earbuds also ship with seven pairs of silicone tips and three pairs of ear wings for various degrees of comfort. These accessories are a welcome addition if you want the perfect fit. These earbuds won’t fall off that easily once you have used the right earbud and wings. Having said that, after prolonged use the earbuds do feel a bit heavy and can be cause for discomfort. Battery Life © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro also comes with a hefty charging case that can extend the overall battery life of the earbuds to 32 hours - at least that’s what Anker claims. In our usage, with the charging case, these earbuds lasted about 25 hours on a single charge. As for the earbuds themselves, they can last anywhere between 5-7 hours depending on your usage habit. Battery life is by far the strongest suit of the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro, thanks to which it is one of the longest-lasting TWS earbuds we’ve used all year. Sound Performance The Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.0, AptX and AAC which is essential in earbuds these days for the best experience possible. It helps in lower latency in terms of wireless connection which is quite useful if you watch a lot of videos. When setting up the earbuds, we recommend using the HeardID feature from the Soundcore app as it helps in tuning the earbuds. Once you fire up the feature, the earbuds will play frequencies and all you need to do is notify the app when you stop hearing them. This will result in an EQ profile that is best suited for your hearing. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The sound profile of these earbuds is more tuned for users who like bass in their music. You can, however, adjust the EQ from the app but it isn’t as comprehensive as other TWS offerings. Surprisingly enough, even with its heavy bass sound profile, the mids and highs do not get overpowered. There is enough room between the different channels for clear defined sound. Each instrument can be heard clearly although we do recommend pumping up the mids manually from the app. In terms of loudness, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro can be extremely loud which we aren’t really big fans of. You can turn it all the way up if you want but we advise against it if you cherish your hearing. While listening to music is a great experience, hearing content like spoken-word podcasts can be a bit underwhelming. You will notice a slight white-noise sound when listening to podcasts or even when watching video content. This is most noticeable at low volumes which can be a bit bothersome for some people. The Final Say If your sole purpose is to listen to music, then the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro is a great alternative to offerings by Samsung and Apple. Having said that, you will have to deal with the bulky design that can get uncomfortable after prolonged usage. View the full article

  15. We’ve been hearing about an Uncharted movie for over a decade now. And thankfully, we finally got the first look at what we can expect from the movie. The movie has suffered in the past with several directors, five release dates and actor replacements. However, a new picture of Tom Holland shows what his character as the young Nathan Drake will look like. Holland posted his first look for the character on his Instagram page and it shows that the movie is actually happening. © Naughty Dog However, we want to talk about his look since it’s probably the most accurate personification of Nathan Drake we’ve seen yet. He’s got the cargo pants, the pistol holders, a ring that probably belongs to Nathan’s ancestor Sir Francis Drake. The image also shows Holland playing a very young Nathan Drake even though the character we’ve played in the games was a much older Drake. It could be that the movie might be a prequel to the games or have its own story that we haven’t experienced before. We may also see an origin story for the character that we’ve only seen a glimpse of in the third Uncharted game Drake’s Deception. © Naughty Dog While we quite liked Tom Holland’s look, plenty of fans had mixed reactions to the image. Some fans wanted to see the older Nathan Drake look while some found Tom Holland’s personification weird. Here’s how everyone reacted to the image online: TOM HOLLAND AS NATHAN DRAKE IM SPEECHLESS pic.twitter.com/DFhSeTXziu — Maria (@quackzonqueen) October 22, 2020tom holland is going to own 2021 and I mean that pic.twitter.com/XdMbVqwU2m — joni (@lovleyholland) October 22, 2020Tom Holland actually makes a pretty good Nathan Drake pic.twitter.com/4PCGfJhovi — Hassan Hamid | BLM (@HassanHamid26) October 22, 2020No, you're not. This is embarrassing. Where's the half-tuck? That's literally the entire character! https://t.co/1hxh91Hinc — Jeff Grubb (@JeffGrubb) October 22, 2020he *is* age appropriate, but just doesn’t *look* age appropriate https://t.co/9zE0d46znJ — ⚰️ Deadscreet Batino 🦇 (@DiscreetLatino) October 22, 2020 We can’t wait to see what the final outcome looks like as the Uncharted movie may just become the next Indiana Jones franchise for the new generation. We’re yet to see any footage from the movie or any of the other characters and how they look. Personally, I’m quite interested to know how Sully and Elena Fisher will look, given that they would make an appearance in the movie. View the full article

For PlayStation 4 players, Sony PlayStation India will be offering a bundle offer that includes the DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller + FIFA 21 and other benefits that may give you the extra edge in the game. © EA Sports The deal comes in time for the festive season and if one were to buy the game and the controller separately; it would cost around Rs 8,500 for both the controller and the game. However, this new deal will let you get both for Rs INR 6,990 and it comes with a Fifa Ultimate Team 21 voucher and a 14-day PS Plus trial as well so that you can play online against friends and compete in online tournaments hosted by Electronic Arts. © Sony PlayStation India The extra FUT points will give you extra points in-game that can be used for purchasing player cards in the Ultimate Team mode. 18. One major complaint I’ve always had is the fact that each year one has to shell out Rs 4000 or upwards for a game that largely plays, looks and feels the same. However, Konami seems to have solved that problem with PES 2021 that is an update for last year’s edition. It comes with a squad update, new kits and the same gameplay from last year’s game. In fact, why would you want to fix something that isn’t broken and that is the case for PES 2021. Having said that, the game does lack the necessary rights to make it feel like a full football simulation game. We've been playing the game for over a week to get a fair idea about PES 2021 and how it’s an incredible game. © Konami The fact, PES 2021 feels so similar to last year’s edition we don’t know where to begin. It feels like a double-edged sword as it keeps loyal players of the franchise satisfied with familiar gameplay but without actually making enough changes to make it look like a new game. That’s probably why the game is cheaper than FIFA 21 and comes as an update to FIFA 2020. Even the menus, player screens, presentation, team introductions and modes are identical to last year’s game which may get boring after a while. © Konami However, when you play your first game, you will notice subtle differences from last year’s game. For starters, the game feels a bit slower and not like an arcade football game like FIFA. The AI is far more difficult to play on higher difficulty settings that also translates well when playing online. PES has always been known for its gameplay but we can’t say the same about the FIFA franchise. © Konami For example, passing needs to be precise and in our opinion through balls feel even more accurate than ever before. Similarly, when playing against the computer, you won’t come off with a huge difference in the scoreline as attackers use every skill and tactic to score a goal. There was a time when I was playing against Southampton, and the team was able to score two goals against me with ease, even though I’m well versed with the mechanics of the game. PES’ Player ID AI shows how it can make the game challenging even for seasoned players who think they might just be getting a season update this year. Ball physics also plays a major role in making the game more engrossing from last year. The ball movement feels more natural and does not feel just another accessory to the game. We mentioned earlier passing needs to be precise and a lot of it has to do with the ball physics. Whether you want to curve the ball, cross it for a header and set up through balls, you need to be precise with the pass direction and power. If you make a slight mistake in higher difficulties, you will be punished with a counter-attack that will be super hard to defend. Speaking of defending, it isn’t as easy as you would find in the FIFA franchise. You will only be able to succeed at defending if you concentrate and have enough patience. Button mashing will not help in this situation as you do need to make the right move at the right time. If you tackle too early, your opponent will breeze through and exploit the space you’ve given. Do it right, you can defend a high momentum counter-attack with ease. There is a slight learning curve here as defending effectively will be crucial for victories, especially in online matches. Online Competitive Matches © Konami Even though Konami has improved its online matchmaking system, this mode still needs improvement. Not only do you need a stable internet connection, but there are also some other problems we noticed this year. For example, players still collide with each other quite a bit, albeit it has improved from last year’s experience. There is also a bit of clipping problem with character models that occur in-game which could be fixed with a patch soon. We also noticed that the referee AI system also needs improvement as some clear fouls went unnoticed. To test if the referee AI system needs to improve especially in online mode, we purposely committed fouls that were let go by the referee. We only got a yellow card after our third foul which can make online games a bit frustrating. © Konami Konami has also expanded on its ‘MyClub’ feature which is their version of FIFA’s Ultimate Team. However, in PES 2021, you can instantly get set up with a world-class team with icons that may require you to grind a lot more in FIFA. Apart from this main difference, everything remains the same where you need to acquire players, open packs and compete with other players for more in-game currency and packs. We haven’t spent a lot of time in this mode, however we should have a better idea in the coming months. Lack of LicensesThe only complaint football simulation game fans have is the lack of key license in any PES game. To be honest, it doesn’t bother me that much, however to many it matters a lot. If the game does not feel or sound like any real football game, it will put off a lot of people. Having said that, players do feel like their real-life counterparts in the game. Messi runs and dribbles like Messi, Neymar plays like Neymar, Van Dijk feels like a wall like he does in real life. Licensed teams and partner clubs also look realistic and amazingly detailed. However, some player characters models look like they've seen a ghost. PES 2021 is a hit and miss in this category but none of it affects the gameplay. The Final Verdict PES 2021 feels and plays like an incredible football simulation game that does everything right. With great gameplay mechanics and familiarity, PES players will feel right at home. The game costs half as much as FIFA 21 and has given us a good alternative to yearly full-priced games that don’t change much year after year. Having said that, the lack of key licenses could annoy people who are seeking the full football simulation experience. PES 2021 is the ultimate football experience if gameplay matters to you more than vanity. View the full article
