Those who have traveled or are traveling by local trains would know how the local trains have many artists entertaining the people. One such artist is Pooja Sharma, a transwoman from Mumbai, who has now become an Internet sensation, after a photographer shared her videos online. View this post on InstagramShe has been getting a lot of attention on the local trains as she reminds people of Rekhaji, especially because of her dressing sense. From her jewelry to saree to her hair, everything is just like the Bollywood veteran actor. Pooja rose to fame by sharing videos of her dancing aboard the local trains, on Instagram. Here’s one of the videos: View this post on Instagram After the video started to go viral, people began appreciating her beauty and acknowledging her graceful personality. They also agreed to the fact that she does look like Rekha. © Viral Bhayani Instagram © Viral Bhayani Instagram We stumbled across one of her interviews with Crossbyte Productions which gave us more insight into her story. When asked about how people treat her, she said, “Amid all the rush when I get in the train, people look at me but they don’t think that I have come to beg. All of them stand near me. They come and stand near me just to see me. When I ask for money, people laugh and they give it to me with so much love and affection. I ask for Re 1 and the crowd of Mumbai local train knows me. They recognize me as Rekhaji. I don’t even have to ask for money. Everyone says that the way I wear my saree, I look like Rekha.” Sharing her past, she added, “When I was young, I did not go to play with my friends who were boys. I used to play with girls in my locality. I felt good, and I used to win in every game in all those ladies' games. Everyone loved me when I was young but I didn’t know I was different. I used to think I am a boy but why don't I play with friends who were boys. My uncle used to scold me but I still used to play with the girls of my locality. In my area, there was a dance competition and I also used to participate. So what I did was I wore my sister’s saree to dance. Everyone started laughing. In my area, there was one Thakur Dada and he understood that I was different. He came over to our place and started discussing me with my family members. We were famous in our family. People used to say that we think that ‘your son is a little different. I did understand when everyone started to point out. I saw my father cry that night when Thakur dada left our house and it did hurt me a lot. What I am doing, I am not doing it deliberately.” Here’s the full interview: View the full article

  4. Will you dare to play a dangerous game on the dark web? Probably, not! But it looks like Rivanah Banerjee is left with no other choices. MX Player’s enticing psychological thriller Hello Mini is back with a second season and our fierce protagonist Rivanah (played by Anuja Joshi) is still disturbed by the traumas of her past. The new season sees her take off into new terrain – Rivanah moves in with her boyfriend Danny. As she struggles with her relationship and an unwanted house guest (who she thinks is trying to steal her boyfriend), Rivanah is thrown into a series of mysterious and dangerous situations. MX Player Well, it all begins with an anonymous message and a game she didn’t want to play. The voiceless, nameless, and faceless ‘stranger’ who has haunted Rivanah’s reality is back with a vengeance and the only rule of the new game is to stay alive. Having nearly defeated death in the previous season, Rivanah stands at a similar crossroads once again as she is forced to enlist herself to play the dangerous game of ‘Dare Defy’ on the dark web. The ‘Stranger’ has a simple order, either play the game or face dire consequences. Any guesses on what she chose? What follows is a series of confusing events, hallucinations, and even a murder investigation. And as it happens, Rivanah/Mini finds herself as the prime suspect in the murder because of her participation in an illegal online game. Anuja Joshi brings out the flaws and nerves of the character effortlessly. She plays the role with fierce boldness and raw talent. We loved every bit of her growth into the new fearless Rivanah. The pace of this 10-episodic show stays fast and the riveting narrative makes it a binge-worthy show. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Goldie Behl’s Rose Audio Visual, this MX Original Series is adapted from Novoneel Chakraborty’s ‘Stranger Trilogy’. MX Player Director Arjun Srivasstava brings out the complex narrative with minimum effort. The second season also sees the return of familiar faces and characters. Gaurav Gupta, Mrinal Dutt, Anshul Pandey, Nikhita Chopra, Darshana Banik, Vinit Sharma, Abhinav Sharma, Ambika Nayak, Joy Sengupta, and Summer Jacobs play pivotal roles in the series. We binge-watched Hello Mini 2 in just one sitting. Are you ready for the weekend binge-watch marathon? We absolutely recommend it! You can start streaming all the 10 episodes for free on MX Player. 9. India has already topped the list of countries for the suspension of Internet services in 2021, some 40 days into the year. The centre suspended internet access at Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri borders of Delhi along with adjoining areas which propelled India to the top of the list. The Centre or state governments have already suspended internet around 10 times in 2021, making India lead the global tally in the suspension of Internet services. Internet, SMS and other services were suspended for more than 24 hours in at least two instances just this past month. © Reuters Just last month, a recent report said India had restricted internet services more than any other country in the world in 2020. India’s total internet downtime added up to 8,927 hours and resulted in $2.8 billion in losses last year and the story remains somewhat similar in 2021 as well. In fact, India leads the global tally over the past decade. In 2019 and 2020 alone, Internet services remained suspended for more than 13,000 hours with as many as 164 instances of shutdowns. © Unsplash/jackson-david High-speed internet was suspended in Jammu and Kashmir for a total of 552 days, the longest instance by an elected government. However, internet services were finally restored last week. In a report by Top10VPN, India’s suspension of the internet in Jammu and Kashmir was called “the longest Internet shutdown in a democracy, the restrictions have negatively impacted the distribution of medicine, businesses and schools.” It is worth pointing out that the Indian law does have a provision for suspending the internet. According to the Department of Telecommunications’(DoT) ‘Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017,’ telecom services as well as internet services can be temporarily suspended in an area. The internet can be suspended by an order issued by the Union Home Secretary or the State Home Secretary in an event of public emergency or in the interest of public safety. © Reuters Internet shutdown also has an adverse effect on the economy as the same report by Top10VPN revealed India lost $2.8 billion in revenue due to the Internet shutdown. The researchers used a “Cost of Shutdown Tool” from Netblocks and Internet Society to determine the cost of Internet shutdowns. The tool used the Brookings Institution Method where the cost was calculated by determining a region’s economic output as a proportion of its national GDP. If we do a basic calculation, India lost Rs 2 Crore every hour while the internet was suspended in 2020. View the full article
