  2. Today, we saw two trends #BringBackTrueIndology and #ShameOnYouIPSRoopa on Twitter, and upon digging further, we discovered how the two were interconnected. Roopa Divakar Moudgil, popularly known as D. Roopa, is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Devanagere, Karnataka. She started to trend after her argument with a Twitter user True Indology over whether firecrackers are Indian or not went viral. In case you're unaware of True Indology, since July 2019, this particular handle has been giving snippets on Indian culture and history from the perspective of the owner of the handle. View this post on Instagram A lot of people were following the handle but it was suspended right after the big argument between the senior IPS officer and the owner of the Twitter page. How did it all start? On November 14, the senior IPS officer posted a status on Facebook asking why people are objecting to a ban on firecrackers. “Ban on crackers in Bengaluru is for this year alone, given COVID situation. Why can't for one year we abstain ourselves from the use of crackers? Are we so hollow that our joy is dependent solely on crackers? There are many ways to celebrate Deepawali. Light diyas, meet people, exchange mithai...but no, adamant people only want crackers. How unreasonable!” she wrote in her post. True Indology and Roopa got into an argument over whether there was any mention of firecrackers in the ancient manuscripts of our culture. After she disagreed with True Indology’s perspective, she told him that ‘Your Time Is Up’ and five minutes later, his account was suspended. He wrote an elaborate note on Instagram on what exactly happened and when things went awry. In his long post, he wrote, “This post is about magic that happened on Twitter. One IPS officer from Bengaluru (Twitter India Head Quarters) issued directives to ban Diwali crackers. She said that crackers were not mentioned in ancient texts. I disagreed with her and showed her references from Ananda Ramayana and Skanda Purana. She challenged me to divulge my personal details. I refused to divulge those details. She then said, "Your time is up". And boom. My account was suspended within 5 minutes. What a sweet coincidence! Twitter sent no mail. Gave no reason. Simply suspended my account. Friends, this is a coincidence. Just a sweet coincidence. Nothing more to it. There is absolutely no correlation and I am REALLY not hinting at anything. I did not divulge personal details. Hence, I was only digitally eliminated. What would have happened if I had? I shudder to think.” View this post on Instagram Right after his account was suspended, people started questioning the freedom of speech we have as it was attacked because someone's ego got hurt. Celebs like Kangana Ranaut and Ranvir Shorey also bashed Roopa for using her power to digitally murder a genuinely informative page. Here’s what they tweeted: See @TIinExile this is what you earned, they who ruthlessly eliminated you must be powerful but they can’t take away your real worth, we miss you and remember eventually love wins, don’t feel low/ disheartened or hopeless... we are together in this #BringBackTrueIndology pic.twitter.com/7Q6KfdCo3q — Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) November 18, 2020Living off on tax money, these cops are answerable for arm twisting commoners, it’s a valid question rather than taking people’s complaints and assisting them, why is @D_Roopa_IPS indulging in time pass trolling that too in working hours threatening and intimidating youngsters. https://t.co/b9O7clFzTe — Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) November 18, 2020Hey @TwitterIndia, this is the second time you have unreasonably suspended one of the most informative and decent Twitter handles on your platform. Utter #shame. #BringBackTrueIndology — Ranvir Shorey (@RanvirShorey) November 18, 2020Some people also voiced their opinion on how they felt that it was wrong to get someone’s Twitter account suspended over personal disagreement and ego. People ended up bashing the IPS officer Roopa left, right, and center. Here’s how people reacted on Twitter: D Roopa IPS miss use of our Power for suspended the True Nationalist twitter handle @TIinExile ....? We all Nationalist always stand with True Indology. RT if you want #BringBackTrueIndology pic.twitter.com/FTyobBlebt — Pushpendra Kulshreshtha (@iArmySupporter) November 18, 2020One gets shot to death just for celebrating Durga Puja One gets suspended by Twitter for expressing his views Both at the behest of IPS officers If this is not blatant misuse of power, what is?@TIinExile#BringBackTrueIndology #ShameOnYouIPSRoopa @TheDeepak2020In pic.twitter.com/9QoxPobb0X — Sadhvi Dr. Prachi (@sadhvi_dr) November 18, 2020Certain IPS office is not nameless. 6. The entire Indian subcontinent was left aghast on 27th November when the brutal rape and murder of Priyanka Reddy came to light. The 27-year-old veterinary doctor was treated far worse than animals by a group of men in Hyderabad, who raped her, smothered her and finally burnt her body before ditching it under a bridge. The country was left trembling with shock, fear and anger at what had come to pass, and how incidents of rape and assault are slowly becoming the norm in our country. Amidst huge public uproar and media outcry since the fateful day, not only were the accused apprehended but the case was also being pushed for a quick verdict against the perpetrators. © Twitter-RupsaChak However, before the legal system could do the deed, all the four accused in the police custody were neutralised during a police 'encounter' during the early hours of 6th December in Hyderabad. According to the police, the accused were taken to the scene of the crime for a reconstruction of events, when the accused allegedly snatched the weapons from the police and attacked them in a bid to flee from the location. Following which, all four of them were shot down during the altercation. © Twitter Yogita Bhayana One man, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar has become the face of this 'encounter' that a majority of the people in the country are in support of. While the debate is on regarding how right or wrong the 'encounter' was, here are 5 things you need to know about IPS officer V C Sajjanar, who is being hailed as a hero by many: 1. Officer V C Sajjanar is a native of Karnataka and is a 1996 batch Indian Police Service cadet. He is a Commerce graduate, and also holds an MBA from the Karnataka University. © Twitter-CP-Hyderaba 2. While IPS officer V C Sajjanar began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police, he has held many distinguished titles within the police force, such as Superintendent of Police Warangal, IG of Special Intelligence Branch and currently he was serving as the Cyberabad Police Commissioner. 3. Officer Sajjanar has been involved in two other heavy-duty encounters in the past. In 2008, three men accused of throwing acid on two girls were shot dead by police during an encounter. Officer Sajjanar was the Superintendent of Police in Warangal at the time. © Twitter-CP-Hyderaba 4. Yet again as the IG of the anti-Naxalite unit of the Special Intelligence Branch in 2016, Officer Sajjanar was given credit for the arrest of many top Maoists and the encounter of senior Maoist leader Mohammed Nayeemuddin. 5. Known by his colleagues and juniors as a soft-spoken and mild-mannered man, the Priyanka Reddy encounter would be officer Sajjanar's third high-profile encounter case in service. He is known to work passionately towards the cause of women and child safety, cybercrime and human trafficking. View the full article

  13. While the Civil Services are the most honorary posts to hold in the country, a lot of people miss their chance to be a part of the services because the examinations held by the UPSC aren't easy at all. And even though we have 4 attempts to pass these exams, sometimes, making it through those 4 times is improbable. Lakhs of people apply every year for the civil service examination and only about 1% of them get through. But for some people, cracking these exams and becoming an IPS officer at the age of 20 was a piece of cake. How, you ask? One would imagine he's a child prodigy to sit for the exam once and come out with flying colours and become an officer of the law, but little do we know, it was all a big farce and he actually wasn't a qualified IPS officer. © Facebook Meet the 20-year-old Abhay Meena, who posed as a high ranking IPS officer with a fake ID and credentials, a social media personality and a motivational speaker, all rolled in to one. He was recently arrested by Special Operations Group, Delhi and we're sad he misused a prestigious position to actually con the nation. Meena, who has indeed failed class 12th, claimed to have cracked the IIT and the UPSC examination in the first try itself, becoming an PS officer at a really young age. Because of this, he was often invited to institutions, fashion shows and parties to give motivational speeches as a chief guest, where he would wine and dine and con people in to believing in his hard work. So much so, he would meet police officers at these events and laud them for their great work, ironically. I mean you really have to have some cheek to pull off such an intrinsic lie, and fool people. © Facebook He was finally caught when someone noticed his police card, in which the word branch was spelled as 'branche' and capital as 'capitol'. After investigating his records further, he was finally arrested by the SOG from his apartment in Jagatpura. Meena tried intimidating the officers by boasting about his influences but clearly, that didn't work as he's under arrest currently. Apparently, Meena used to drive around in a car which has a 3-star police plate affixed on the bumper and a 3-star credential is only reserved for a DG or an Additional DG (ADG) rank. So, clearly he was misusing that too. © Times of India After wining and dining at expensive hotels, without paying the bills and showing off his ID wherever he would go, Meena is currently at the Pratap Nagar Police Station eating only 'jail ka khaana'. We feel this is grave disrespect for officers who've actually worked hard to crack civil service exams and have come all the way, with their hard work to stand where they do. It's also grave disrespect towards all the people who spend days, weeks and months preparing for these examinations and burning the midnight oil to serve the country. And here we have a man, who'd been conning his way through, making people believe he did what he did through his hard work. Up until recently, I thought these things could only happen in movies like 'Catch Me If You Can' or 'Bunty Aur Bubli', but people actually grow up in reality to become con artists and we hope he's the only one, who has pulled off such a stunt.

Changes affecting third-party developers and designers Backwards-incompatible changes that may affect third party applications / plugins: Methods that handle passwords in login handlers (authenticateUsernamePassword(), authenticatePasswordForMember(), changePassword()) now receive an object which can be cast to a string, rather than a normal string, for the password. This reduces the likelihood of a password being included in an error log. The onPassChange MemberSync callback now receives an object which can be cast to a string, rather than a normal string, for the password. This reduces the likelihood of a password being included in an error log. Enhancements / fixes for developers: Added a new constant \IPS\DEV_LOG_HEADERS which allows you to log all headers being sent during responses. Better abstracted code that dynamically builds class paths for areas that are no longer using iterators. Improved some extension skeleton files to not cause a ParseError once the extension is created. Fixed color fields not initializing for new rows added in a manageable matrix. Improved some extension skeleton files to not cause a ParseError once the extension is created.

The theme comes with an animated header and is perfect for any forum looking for a quick loading dark design - especially great for gaming forums! Theme Features Theme Settings Easily enable, disable or modify theme features such as background images, logos, social media links, guest messages and colors. This makes modifications and upgrades very simple since little code changes are required. Animated header This theme features two animated images in the header, powered by css animations. The effect can be customized extensively, or removed entirely if necessary. Background picker Your members can choose their own background image (or color) from a predefined selection and their choice is saved via cookies. This feature can be configured or disabled within the theme settings. Guest message The "Guest message" widget is restyled to grab your visitors attention. This plugin will allow you to add music to your profile. Profile Songs is originally a 4.1.x plugin developed by Rory Soh from the IPS Marketplace. It's been abandoned for nearly a year so I've taken the liberty of updating the plugin. Original File Description This allows you to set a custom song to the forum profile. Moderators and Administrators are allowed to remove them easily, it will erase the file from your web server as well. You simply just go to the member's profile who has an inappropriate song and remove it by selecting "Remove Song" from Profile Song option. You can also set profile songs for members if you wish. What's New 4.3.x compatibility, no template changes needed. Any changes you made to your profile template for this plugin should be reverted. NEW configurable profile song size setting. Song size is in kB (kilobytes). A minimum size of 1,000 (1MB or 1 Megabyte) and a maximum size of 50,000 (50MB). This setting defaults to 2,500 (or 2.5MB). Future Updates I'll do my best to update this plugin for 4.4.x compatibility, if necessary, in a timely fashion. I'd also like to implement a configurable volume setting. In the meantime, you can use the steps below to add your own volume setting manually. Add your own volume setting Locate your ps_display HTML template and replace this: <div class='ipsType_center'> <p> {{if \IPS\Settings::i()->song_display_autoplay}} <audio autoplay="" controls="" loop="" preload="" class="ps_audio"> <source src="{$profileSong->file->url}"></source> </audio> {{else}} <audio controls="" loop="" preload="" class="ps_audio"> <source src="{$profileSong->file->url}"></source> </audio> {{endif}} </p> </div> With this: <div class='ipsType_center'> <p> {{if \IPS\Settings::i()->song_display_autoplay}} <audio autoplay="" controls="" loop="" preload="" class="ps_audio" id="profilesong"> <source src="{$profileSong->file->url}"></source> </audio> {{else}} <audio controls="" loop="" preload="" class="ps_audio" id="profilesong"> <source src="{$profileSong->file->url}"></source> </audio> {{endif}} </p> </div> And then add the following code to the bottom of that template: <script> var audio = document.getElementById("profilesong"); audio.volume = 0.25; </script> You can change the volume setting by changing the 0.25 (1.0 is default).

NOTE Version Spacious ACP 14 is for 4.3 and above. Tweaks! Customizations Galore! New Widgets! So many I'm just going to start listing them... Header, primary, and secondary menu background colors fully changeable. Header, primary, and secondary menu font colors fully changeable. Change background color of message information and message warnings. Option for tighter row spacing throughout. Page fade-in animation effect for an app-like feel. Secondary menu options have mouse-over hover effect so you can actually see what you are about to select. Secondary menu options have expanded hotlink area across the entire list element instead of just the text: easy navigation for you! Change the name of the ACP to whatever you want! Online users embedded in Dashboard header with popup details (including search bots). Un-sticky the ACP header to gain more screen-estate when scrolling. Optional modern-style dashboard widget format. New in Version 12: Dashboard Patches and Updates! Patch and Update buttons only show when there is a patch or update to 3rd Party app/plugin available. Can disable this function entirely in settings if you would rather not be bothered. New Widgets! System Overview: Redesigned for version 11! Real-time server load, IPS installation size, IPS database size, memory available (or free), storage space available, options for Community in the Cloud customers, database details including your database engine and character search limits. Graph colors match your chosen ACP header colors, option to over-ride. When memory/server space becomes critical graphs go red! You configure when the memory and server space warnings kick in! Gallery Overview: Mostly a rework of the default Gallery widget but with better formatting. Note the default widget (and this one) only tracks the storage space of the original images, not all the copies actually made and used by the IPS system - those stats are not saved anywhere. Spacious ACP 11 now includes the four newest images along with the four most viewed. Widget is fine wide or side. Forum Statistics: The most glaring IPS omission. Sparkline trends for both topics created and responses made! Sparkline charts display the last eight weeks, the numbers alongside are the last three (so the right side of the sparkline chart displays those three amounts). Click the circle "i" icons for pop-up details! Lots more - check it out! Member Statistics: Mid-transformation with Spacious ACP 11. Online users now embedded in Dashboard header. Moved from average member age to median member age. Track which members are actually using your site vs. long-dead relic member accounts from years ago. Sparkline and "i" circles work just like the other widgets. Have fun! System Errors: Lists last five (max) system errors so you can actually see what problems are occurring under the hood. Direct links to error reports and system error page. Strongly recommend you have this widget up to see what 3rd-party apps/plugins are causing havoc on your system rather. Front and center and you can't ignore them and we 3rd party devs do not have a built in error reporting system like IPS does right now. SimilarWeb: A website ranking/tracking service. Two SW default widgets for tracking visitor types and relative rankings, embedded in a single IPS dashboard widget. The rankings widget can have two additional websites added for tracking alongside your own site. Alexa: Get your Alexa ranking (for whatever that's worth...) right in your dashboard. Both global and national. Updates daily and flags trending up or down from previous check. This widget is also undergoing additional dev as Alexa things have changed. Next Spacious version or two will see this one perked up. Most Active Topics Last 3 Days: As stated. Based on topic responses only. Maximum of five listed. Useful for large boards where you are likely to overlook where the action is at any given time. These are all under active development. Refinement and new widgets can be expected. I've also improved the Admins Online and IPS News widgets. Admins Online (which you should rename in your language files as ACP Admins Online or Active ACP Sessions) now displays avatars and the IPS news widget has been compressed vertically to not take up so much space. More! Login Page Customization: Add a background or just change the color. The login box is totally customizable as well including transparency and the option to add additional text. Dash Buttons: Add some more quick link buttons to the top of the dashboard - administrator logs, moderator logs, tasks, and a super-convenient wipe caches button! Wipe caches includes the CIC resync process to better fight the CIC caching system when installing/adjusting apps and plugins on your CIC site! Additional System Tweaks: Plugin versions displayed alongside plugins. Your most online stat is ALWAYS being tracked, not just tracked when the stats widget in on a page on the front end! Restores ACP favicon. Upload whatever you like (ico format for now) or use the giant black IPS ico provided. PM members from the member page. S3 file methods will now display endpoint and directory structure in their listed names allowing you to actually tell the difference between various S3 entities. See the rest of the screenshots; I've probably have forgotten things at this point. Installation: New Installations: There is just a single application file (tar) and an optional IPS black browser .ico file. Install the tar like you would any other application. That's it! 4.1 and earlier users: Starting with 4.2 there is only an application to install. If you already have the Spacious ACP theme and Spacious Widgets application installed first delete the Spacious ACP theme. It is not compatible with 4.2. Now, you can either upgrade the Spacious Widgets application with this Spacious ACP application (yes, just go ahead and upgrade, do not install as a new app) or you can delete the Spacious Widgets application and then install this new one. If you upgrade the existing application you'll probably need to hit the support tool to clear the caches before everything starts working with theme changes and so on. This is expected (happened to me during testing) The move to just the single application is due to IPS planning on removing the ability for themes to be set for the ACP. All the configuration settings to alter the ACP appearance, configure widgets that require configuring, and changing your ACP login page are all available in under Customization - Spacious ACP : Settings. To add the new widgets to your dashboard just click the add button on the dashboard, choose and then drag them where you want them to be. Be aware that both Forum and Member Statistics only support the large display widget area. They will work on the small area but may look odd... All the others can be used in the large or small areas. Front end widgets pass through a variable indicating if they are in a wide horizontal position or on the sidebar. ACP dashboard widgets do not have this which limits the custom formatting I can do to make things fit. Heads Up! Widgets with Google Charts in them will render weird when you first drag them onto the dashboard. Just refresh the page. On install AND upgrades, Spacious tasks are automatically marked as never ran (this behavior is standard for all apps). Some widgets rely on pulling saved information that is generated by these tasks. Feel free to manually run any Spacious tasks to spark the process along if you do not feel like waiting 10-15 minutes (or longer for some stats). Notes: Some of the new widgets give you a sampling of statistical information you probably want about your site and though you can request that I add some things of this nature to Spacious Widgets they will probably NOT be added as that will require storing substantial information in the database. That's well beyond the scope of an ACP theme and some add-on widgets. Better off in a separate application where it can be done right. be sure and look at the default statistics tab: somewhere along the line in the 4.2 series they've improved things there. In some server/hosting situations some data I try to read for the System Overview widget may not be accessible. Do not buy this if the Server Overview widget is the only thing you are interested in. No refunds will be approved due to some elements of that widget not working correctly on your site. Specifically, you will need allow read access to the /proc directory on Centos/Red Hat/Ubuntu systems and in some cases you may have an Apache setting called open_basedir preventing this. A simple file edit on your server will usually solve this. VestaCP users will need to edit some configuration templates to change this variable. Cost/Allowed Use: $25/$7 every six months. Basically $14 a year once you get going for a customizable ACP and a bunch of new dashboard widgets (with more on the way!). Renewals keep us devs going! Licensed for your IPS site bound to your IPS account plus any/all dev boards (localhost or otherwise). Other sites should/need to get their own licensed copy of Spacious ACP. All rights reserved, etc. NEW! 4.3 compatible, initial release. Revamped graphs, other changes, too many to list. This release is not feature complete. More to come but a decent 4.3 build needs to get out the door and this one is it. Note that as of 4/26/2018 the screenshots are still mucked up (happens when IPS CIC has problems with S3 and upgrades and so on and so forth). New shots forthcoming, along with a new Marketplace description.

Adds the WhatsApp share service to IPS 4.1.x. Once enabled, the WhatsApp icon should appear in your share links on your phone/tablet. It is hidden by default on desktops because clicking the icon on desktop does nothing and the ability to share has not yet been added to WhatsApp Web. This is toggable in the WhatsApp share link settings. After clicking the link it opens WhatsApp and you will need to click on a user/conversation for the text to appear. Notice: If you're updating to 1.0.9 or later you need to upload the contents of the /upload folder to your IPS 4.1.x install. Customize: As of 1.0.6 the text string has been removed to improve performance. To customize you still have access to $url and $title within the whatsapp_cvh template (Core > Global > Plugins in the template editor). You will need to format the text string as desired. An example would be: <a href="whatsapp://send?text={expression="\IPS\Content\ShareServices\Whatsappcvh::encodeURIComponent( $title . ' ' . $url )"}" class="cShareLink cShareLink_whatsapp" title='{lang="whatsapp_text"}' data-ipsTooltip> <i class="fa fa-whatsapp"></i> </a> Added /dev folder so it can now work in IN_DEV mode Unless you are having issues you can skip this update which is meant to remove any code ambiguities
