  1. As the world marks 11 days gone by since maverick actor Irrfan Khanâs tragic passing, his son Babil has been sharing loads of unseen glimpses of the legendâs quieter, more private moments at home - including one, in particular, thatâs just way too cute. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@babil.i.k) Shot in monochrome, the post opens with an image of Khan sitting on a sofa at home while playing with a friendly feline companion - followed by a video of the cat cosying up to the actor. Along with several messages commenting on how adorable the video was, several fans thanked Bilal for opening a window into the life of their now-late idol, expressing how they rewatched classic Irrfan masterpieces such as The Lunchbox and Angrezi Medium in honour of his passing. Irrfanâs death came on the 29th of April after a long, two-year battle with a neuroendocrine tumour. Recently, Babil had also posted the following video, where his father was seen swimming in a pond while on set. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@babil.i.k) Actor Vipin Sharma had written, âIrrfan loved swimming. We were together in Filmcity long ago during the shooting of Discovery of India. There was a small pond. Irrfan jumped right in and swam while I sat outside and chatted with him.â Upon the actorâs death, Irrfanâs wife Sutapa Sikdar and sons Babil and Ayaan issued a family statement, saying, âHow can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. Itâs a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve.â Some of Babilâs throwbacks go way into Irrfanâs past - such as these incredible shots from Irrfanâs stint in the National School of Drama back in the 1980s. View this post on InstagramNSD.A post shared by (@babil.i.k) Others were just simple moments of Irrfan enjoying a bit of pani-puri while getting off an arduous shoot-schedule diet. View this post on InstagramWhen youâre on diet for so long and then the shoot ends and you can have pani puri.A post shared by (@babil.i.k) Itâs brought a smile to many fans - several of whom have been mourning this great loss to Indian cinema alongside the subsequent death of Rishi Kapoor. 2. "I had been in a different game, I was travelling on a speedy train ride, had dreams, plans, aspirations, goals, was fully engaged in them. And suddenly, someone taps on my shoulder and I turn to see. Itâs the TC: âYour destination is about to come. Please get down.â I am confused: No, no. My destination hasnât come," read a quote from his open letter published in 2018. And, on 29th April, his journey came to an end. A man of few words and an actor of silent expressions bid adieu to his loved ones and passionate fans. Battling a rare form of cancer since 2018, the 53-year-old was admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 28th April for receiving treatment for a colon infection. But, the following day, owing to the complications arising from the infection, Irrfan breathed his last. From Sutapa, Babil and Ayaan... pic.twitter.com/djfdp5KxTL â Irrfan (@irrfank) May 1, 2020 The unexpected death of the beloved actor sent shockwaves across the film industry, with his co-actors and fans mourning the loss. Irrfan's demise also evoked heartfelt tributes from the Indian cricket fraternity including the touching messages from the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh amongst others. Sad to hear the news of #IrrfanKhan passing away. He was one of my favorites & Iâve watched almost all his films, the last one being Angrezi Medium. Acting came so effortlessly to him, he was just terrific. May his soul Rest In Peace. ???? Condolences to his loved ones. ?? pic.twitter.com/gaLHCTSbUh â Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) April 29, 2020 While Tendulkar was saddened by the actor's demise and recalled his movies to laud his effortless acting, Yuvraj, who had his own battle with cancer, tweeted: "I know the journey I know the pain and I know he fought till the end some are lucky to survive some don't I'm sure you are in a better place now Irfan Khan my condolence to your family. May his soul Rest In Peace". It's been four days since his sad demise, but the tributes are still pouring in and feeling still remains surreal for fans. Known for his nuanced performances, the highly respected actor proved his mettle working in Hollywood, Bollywood and British films in his career spanning across 30 years. Whether it was his brilliant work, playing the erudite, immigrant father, in Mira Nair's The Namesake, an ageing widower in the sumptuous romance The Lunchbox or playing the ruthless rebel dacoit in Pan Singh Tomar, Irrfan had the unique ability to bring his uncanny characters to life with lazy elegance. © Reuters However, despite his choices over the years including the conscious decision to pick acting over cricket, the gentleman's game didn't abandon him. As it turned out, in 2018, Irrfan was undergoing treatment in a London hospital on the opposite side of Lord's where the poster of a smiling Vivian Richards helped him overcome his pain. "As I was entering the hospital, drained, exhausted, listless, I hardly realised my hospital was on the opposite side of Lordâs, the stadium. The Mecca of my childhood dream. Amidst the pain, I saw a poster of a smiling Vivian Richards. Nothing happened, as if that world didnât ever belong to me," Irrfan had revealed in his heartfelt open letter published in 2018. As Irrfan, a strong soul who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him, left for his heavenly abode, leaving behind a legacy of an exemplary acting career, we, as his fans, can only wonder how things might have been if it wasn't for the shortage of Rs 600 he needed to play the CK Nayudu Trophy. 3. When the whole world was battling with COVID 19, our film industry is dealing with the loss of two legends, Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor . But, these two legends have left us with so many memories from their past. Well, the two were the ones who lived their life to the fullest and it was a treat to see the two of them together sharing the screen in Nikkhil Advaniâs D-Day. Thereâs a scene of the two actors thatâs going viral on the internet. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Advani recalled how Irrfan tricked Rishi Kapoor into staying in a desert for the scene they were shooting in Kutch by bribing him with âchicken and alcoholâ. Yes, you heard it right. At least one thing is for sure. He was averse to early morning shoots but there was this sunrise shot we had to shoot with him and he was refusing to comply, saying, âIâm an actor, not a doodhwalaâ. He remembered how Irrfan bribed Rishi Kapoor with âchicken jungli and alcoholâ and finally managed to make his stay in the desert for the shot. âIt was a near-impossible feat in Kutch, but he delivered on his promise and I got my shot,â added the filmmaker. Not just the film industry people but fans are also missing the two legends and are remembering the scene where they saw the two of them together. 4. They say goodness comes in all shapes and sizes, often when you are least expecting. Goodness doesnât serve paybacks; it only delivers - in kindness and empathy, selflessly. At a time when the more and more we see of the world and question the quickly vanishing goodness in mankind, it takes just one man and his unceasing depths of kindness to restore our dwindling faith. Irrfan Khan, a gem of a human being and one of the most superior artists of our time, leaves behind a priceless legacy, not only through his performances but also through his acts of kindness. © Twitter sakhtLondii An account of his kindness was recently shared by actor-director Bobby Parvez on his Facebook wall, where paying heartfelt tribute to Irrfan Parvez recalls how almost two decade ago Irrfan would take hundreds of calls and messages on behalf of struggling actors who did not have personal phones to receive call backs from directors or casting studios. © Twitter FilmHistoryPic Parvez shares how 20 years ago, at a time when mobile phones were a rare luxury for people, hundreds of struggling actors would often leave behind their photographs with one particular number and a reference name of âIrrfanâ or âSutapaâ, his wife. © Maddock Films Irrfan would not only receive those endless calls on behalf of the aspiring actors every single day, but also made meticulous notes regarding their meetings and office appointments. He would then pass on the message to another individual, who finally dispersed the details to the required actors. Read the entire incident in detail here: This is yet another personal account of Irrfanâs inherent goodness that has surfaced publicly since his passing yesterday. While the entire country mourns the death of a brilliant actor, incidents like this only affirm why so many of us have mourned Irrfanâs final journey like a personal loss. Irrfanâs ingenuity and pureness will never be forgotten. His craft and legacy will remain forever. May your kindness live on, Irrfan. You will remain in our hearts forever. View the full article
  5. This week marked a dark phase in an already desolate 2020 for the Indian entertainment industry. Amidst cash-strapped production employees and haywire release schedules, both Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor have passed away along with over 1,000 COVID-19 deaths in the country. Despite this dual tragedy resulting in millions of heartbroken fans, one infamous figure has decided to sneak his way into the limelight and profit off negative publicity - and itâs none other than Deshdrohiâs Kamaal R Khan, better known as KRK. © kamaalrkhan While the âactorâ has built a reputation over the years for trolling and attention mongering within Bollywood, heâs taken things quite far by spitting on Kapoor and Khanâs graves - leading to nearly 10,000 users calling to â#SuspendKRKâ, similar to the way Kangana Ranautâs sister Rangoli Chandel was taken off Twitter for posts calling for communal violence and unrest. If chutiya has a face #SuspendKRK pic.twitter.com/zcx9pDfXUS â Always_AK (@arshi_ka) April 30, 2020KRKâs first opportunistic tweet arose last night, as reports surfaced on Rishi Kapoorâs admittance to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. Referencing the actorâs earlier statement regarding the temporary opening of liquor stores during the lockdown period. Granted - while the actor has had a long, public history of alcohol abuse that potentially led to Neetu Singhâs domestic violence allegations in 1997, several felt that KRKâs tweet was designed to profit off Kapoorâs eventual demise this morning. I would like to file a complaint against this moron @PuneCityPolice @MumbaiPolice @BJP4Delhi #SuspendKRK pic.twitter.com/GX3KoxjiIH â ðªðððððððððð ð¶ (@SohailFaarzeni) April 30, 2020 Following both deaths, KRK then went on to add fuel to the fire, claiming that he âknew Irrfan and Rishi will go.â Even more outrageous was his claim that he knew who was the ânextâ in line. I wonât die because of anybodyâs wish and I wonât remain alive because of anybodyâs wish. So I donât mind if millions of people also pray for my death. Death doesnât ask anyone before to come. Death comes to take everyone exactly at the right time. Divya Bharti dead at 19Yrs only â KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 30, 2020 As massive backlash began to flare up against him, he began to defend his statements by claiming that âdeath comes to take everyone exactly at the right timeâ - before using Divya Bhartiâs tragic and controversial death in 1993 as a deflection in support of his argument. Naturally, literally no one was buying it. Within hours, #SuspendKRK surged to over 20 thousand tweets and counting, many of which attacked the troll for his insensitive remarks and unwelcome comments. In his own defense, this is what he ultimately had to say. Actually, it should be very simple that if you donât like my thoughts, then donât follow me. Because I donât ask you people to follow me neither follow you back. But you people are hypocrites who do follow me and want me to tweet ur thoughts instead of mine. â KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 30, 2020 He might have been worth a few laughs for his cringeworthy film appearances and film reviews, but perhaps this kind of attention mongering isnât worth a public presence on Twitter. 6. Irrfan Khan, one of India's finest actors breathed his last on April 29, 2020, at Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital. It feels like itâs the end of an era. Irrfan struggled to fame and had entertained us for years to achieve what he was in the last phase of his life. He grew up in a middle-class family in Jaipur, where the idea of acting was way too far-fetched. But, Irrfan did follow his passion and itâs his art that made two generations watch him on both the small screen and the big screens. We grew up watching Irrfan or let me say we grew with him. We have seen him laughing, weeping, and doing everything thatâs relatable. We have been talking about his movies but we need to celebrate the work he did on the small screens too because his body of work spoke volumes about him as an actor even back then. Here are the TV shows which brought out the best in him: 1. ChandrakantaIrrfanâs show Chandrakanta got him attention as the actor played a double role of twin brothers Badrinath and Somnath. Well, Irrfan was not interested in doing the shot but as fate had it, he became the part of the show and even got the attention of the viewers. Going back in time, Irrfanâs characterization was such that he got all attention for his role in the show. 2. Banegi Apni BaatIrrfan adds soul to his character and he was particular about his scenes in the show that he made his wife Sutapa Sikdar who was a screenplay writer of the show. Irrfan played the role of a guy named Kumar and his subtle way of portraying the character was worth a shot. 3. DarrWho can forget this show by Irrfan? Well, he played the role of a psycho serial killer and nailed the character to T. As far as we have known Irrfan, he can play the toughest of roles effortlessly on the screen. 4. ChanakyaDo you remember this show? If not, let me tell you that it was a 47-part historical drama wherein Irrfan played the role of Senapati Bhadrashaal making sure that he can also ace historical characters. 5. Mano Ya Na ManoWell, this one I can never forget as I used to watch this series with my parents as it used to talk about myths, ancient beliefs, and eerie happenings. His dulcet voice added authenticity to the show and you would love watching the episodes. Try it if you havenât seen them. Irrfan, you were a blessing and still are! View the full article

  8. Irrfan Khan - Bollywoodâs most iconic dark horse and an actor who passed away before his fans and film-lovers could fully explore the depths of his artistic calibre, leaves behind a memorable acting legacy. His performances were worth every single paisa and every minute of our time spent watching him spill his magic on-screen was worth it. Irrfan's psychedelic acting career, which spans close to 35 years. is sprinkled with riveting performances and innumerable roles. Many of which became iconic with passing time and others which remained undiscovered. © Maddock Films Starting off with a meagre role of a letter writer in Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay, to the brooding yet refreshing portrayal of Robert in Puzzle and winning over our hearts recently as the doting father in Angrezi Medium, Irrfan's journey both in Bollywood and Hollywood covers almost all the shades of the colour (read acting) palette. Yet, among the many unexplored roles the fine actor played over the years, here are 5 lesser-known performances by the star that are worth a mention today: 1. Anupam - The Goal Released in 1999 under the direction of Gul Bahar Singh, The Goal was inspired by a Bengali short story by Prafulla Roy where we see Irrfan take over the screen as a devoted football coach, Anupam. © Children's Film Society As Anupam, Irrfan not only comes through as a noble trainer but also gives us a glimpse of a sincere, enterprising coach who would help genuine talent flourish, even at the cost of personal setbacks. The film, given its story and exceptional camaraderie between Irrfan and child actor Tapas Dhali, went on to win numerous awards. 2. Lafcadia - The Warrior Another poignant performance by Irrfan Khan at the turn of the century, which allowed him to make his mark in the industry was the 2001 British film titled The Warrior. As the filmâs protagonist Lafcadia, Irrfan shouldered the entire project which would go on to win the âAlexander Korda Award for Best British Filmâ at the BAFTA Awards. © Film4 Irrfan as a fierce Rajasthani warrior gives us a glimpse into the feudalism in ancient India and how he suffers between the call of duty and human conscience which forces him to face his fate even as he tries hard to escape it. 3. Shankar - Kali Salwar © Andaaz Productions Another of Irrfanâs lesser-known yet memorable performances, Shankar in Fareeda Mehtaâs Kali Salwar deserves a mention. Based on the renowned author Mantoâs story, Irrfan as Shankar comes with a breath of fresh air in this voyeuristic play-out. Shankarâs wit and charm will guide you through a realist representation of life and society, as it existed then and as it evolves into new shapes now. 4. Ranvijay - HaasilA film which went on to become a cult classic amongst its viewers, Haasil is one of those films where you can find Irrfan in a negative role. Irrfan as student leader Ranvijay Singh managed to highlight little-known nuances of student politics and how it can become detrimental to the very causes it is meant to work for. © Karma Network Productions Irrfanâs convincing performance as the scheming, ruthless personality Ranvijay ended up earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. 5. Umber Singh - QissaSet against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, Irrfanâs performance as Umber Singh is indeed worth a lot of praise. Through his skills, Irrfan manages to unveil our societyâs fixation with male heirs and how patriarchy overlooks all else when it comes to sustaining itself. © Augustus Film Umber Singh as the deluded, self-centred and obsessive patriarch takes over the larger narrative until his sad, lonely end. Qissa went on to win the Netpac Award for World or International Asian Film at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. View the full article

  10. The news of the sad demise of the critically-acclaimed and award-winning actor Irrfan broke on Wednesday as he lost his ongoing battle with cancer. It was in 2018 when Irrfan Khan first revealed to the public about his neuroendocrine tumour. He looked set on his path to recovery since then and fans were relieved to see him make a comeback on the big screens with Angrezi Medium earlier this year. But as fate would have it, he was hospitalised earlier this week and unfortunately passed away within a few hours. The official spokesperson confirmed the news and shared the statement: "I trust, I have surrendered'; These were some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heartfelt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable actions on screen. Itâs saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, 'As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it'." Minutes before the statement, director Shoojit Sircar, who had worked with Irrfan on multiple projects, took to Twitter to confirm the big news and wrote, "My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute." My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. 11. Bollywood's most prolific underdog-turned-mega-star Irrfan Khan is back in the news, but unfortunately not for the most happy reason. 12. In a career spanning across almost 4 decades now, Irrfan Khan has been a part of some of the finest films that India has ever produced. And in those films, we have seen how, time and again, the man has sort of redefined what Indian actors are actually capable of. Make no mistake, there is no one in Bollywood that can hold a candle to the manâs raw talent and the manner in which he has honed his craft over the years. © Instagram/irrfan Whether they are big-ticket films, with a spectacular star cast or a small indie film, where the legend of an actor is surrounded by relatively unknown names, Irrfan has gone on to cultivate an on-screen persona that is simply mesmerising. Youâre welcome Hollywood. Here are 6 indie films that show why we simply canât have enough of the man: 1. The Namesake © Fox Searchlight Pictures The Namesake is based on a novel by the same name, written by Jhumpa Lahiri. The film revolves around the struggles of an immigrant family that is trying to find its place in a post 9/11 America. The film beautifully depicts the tussle between appropriating new cultures and trying to hold on to oneâs heritage. And of course, there is Irrfanâs performance to go all gaga over. 2. Life in a... Metro © UTV Motion Pictures A film that is actually quite well made and well written, Life in a... Metro actually has a lot of things going on in its plot. With that being said, the entire film, which for some reason is listed as a musical, is very cohesively put together. Because of the nature of the storytelling, and the way it had to be filmed, Irrfan cannot be considered to be the lead of the film - in fact, there are no lead roles. However, the moments when he is on the screen, are simply a joy to watch. His dialogues, especially in spite of being very simple and mundane, are another reason to watch the film. 3. Slumdog Millionaire © Fox Star Studios Yes, Slumdog Millionaire is actually, an indie film. Although it had Danny Boyle at the helm, who was a fairly reputable director back then, the film had no solid backers. Although Dev Patel was the lead of the film, and Anil Kapoor, simply stole the show with his menacing performance, it was actually Irrfan, who in spite of a very limited role, added a very distinct, Irrfan-esque characteristic to the film. 4. Maqbool © Kaleidoscope Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Of course, we have to talk about Maqbool. Even though the film had pretty strong and notable names associated with it, it failed to attract big-ticket production houses. Luckily, it did find some really great distributors who gave it the release that it deserved. Written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, Maqbool is based on Shakespeareâs Macbeth and has power-packed performances by Tabu, Pankaj Kapur, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and of course, Irrfan Khan. Need we say more? 5. The Song of Scorpions © Agora Films A film that somehow managed to slip under the radar, The Song of Scorpions is a film that only the most ardent of cinephiles, who regularly keep a track of film festivals around the globe, will know about. The film did exceptionally well in every film festival where it was shown; the foreign press, including some of the most credible film critics, were all praises for the film. Beautifully shot, the film shows the Thar desert and the city of Jaisalmer in a light that very few of us have seen. 6. The Lunchbox © UTV Motion Pictures Okay, we just had to include The Lunchbox in the list. The film was poignant, to say the least, and to this day, is considered to be the film that could have won us an Academy Award, had we entered this, rather than The Good Road. The Lunchbox was beautifully shot, had a very solidly written plot, and was a visual masterpiece to watch. And of course, how can we not mention the performances of Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui? This should sort your binge-watching list for the weekend, right? View the full article
  13. When you manage to tear your eyes away from the sheepish smile that plays on his lips, you get the chance to behold Bollywood's most prolific underdog-turned-mega-star, that is Irrfan Khan. With his rugged handsomeness, terrific performances, and earthy, personal charm, Irrfan makes for the perfect prototype to be called the ultimate Bollywood âdark horseâ. © Maddock Films Irrfan has been away from the mainstream acting scene since 2018 when he first announced about suffering from a neuroendocrine tumour. Having battled with cancer for over a year, Irrfan came back to face the camera once again last year for his latest film Angrezi Medium. While many are claiming Angrezi Medium to be Irrfanâs much-awaited comeback film post his fight with cancer, true-blue Irrfan Khan fans would beg to differ. For a true Irrfan Khan fan like myself, Angrezi Medium is more than a comeback film and here is exactly why: 1. Itâs The Most Weâll Get To See Of Him Since The Cancer Detection © Maddock Films Irrfan was last seen in the 2018 road film Karwaan, following which broke the news about him leaving for London to get treated for a brain tumour. Itâs been almost two years since, and now, with Angrezi Medium, I will get to witness this man spill his magic on-screen once again. Ever since the detection of his cancer, Irrfan has stayed away from public appearances, choosing to get treated and recuperate away from the public glare. So, this gives his fans the next best shot at beholding their favourite star up close on the silver screen! 2. It Is A Living Example That We Are Stronger Than The Things Trying To Hold Us Back © Maddock Films I can list a number of reasons why Irrfan Khan is one of the most inspirational Bollywood stars out there. But the one thing that trumps it all, currently, is his spirit. His resilience and dedication put Irrfan in a league of his own. Despite not being completely in the clear, Irrfan shot the film for director Homi Adajania, who swore to not make this film with any other actor. Irrfan came back, kept his promise and finished the shooting before heading back to London to continue his treatment for the shooting wrap-up. 3. It Might Be A While Before He Graces The Silver Screen Again © Maddock Films Letâs get a little realistic. Unless someone has been a survivor themself, or has witnessed a loved one battle with cancer, you and I will never be able to imagine how taxing even the recovery process can be, let alone the treatment itself. And though Irrfan has put on a brave face and finished this latest project, it might be a while before we see him on the silver screen again. Even with a few projects in the pipeline, we cannot be sure when they will see the light of the day. 4. Itâs A Reminder Why We Love Him The Way We Do © Maddock Films I donât know about others, but for me, Angrezi Medium is yet another reminder of why I adore this man and his craft so much. Itâs not about the story (Irrfan chose to do it, of course, the story will be worth it) or the supporting cast (Kareena chose to do this film only because of Irrfan, need I say more?). Itâs the promise to witness my favourite actor do what he does like none other. This gifted actor eats, breathes and lives his craft. He weaves stories and teaches his audience a thing or two with every film. His 30-year long, roller-coaster Bollywood journey makes him unconquerable and a striking beam of hope that there is hope for each one of us. Angrezi Medium is not just Irrfanâs comeback film for me, it is proof that this is what a devoted artist can do when lifeâs challenges are met with dedication and undiluted honesty for oneâs craft. 15. Not every parent in the world is supportive of his or her childâs dreams and actor Irrfan Khanâs mother was also not very keen on him wanting to chase his passion for acting. In an interview with the Times Of India, Irrfan said he wished his mother would have behaved the same way his character does in his upcoming movie, Angrezi Medium when his daughter wants to follow her passion and study abroad. © Maddock Films Irrfanâs character in Angrezi Medium goes all out to ensure that his daughter gets to study in an esteemed institution in London but this wasnât the case in his own life. âMy child in Angrezi Medium loses her mother when she is very young. I wasnât. Mine was a crisis of whether to pursue my dream or take care of my responsibility. For Champak (the character in Angrezi Medium) the dilemma is whether to let my daughter chase her dream or not, perhaps it would have been my fatherâs dilemma if he was alive. The crisis is of the father, not of the child, in this scenario. My mother was sure she wanted me not to chase my dream and stay with her, which, I recall, gave me a heartache. The culmination of Champakâs decision is perhaps what I would have wanted my mother to do. Let the child fly,â said the actor. © Maddock Films After this statement, we are beyond intrigued to see Champak's character in Angrezi Medium. Everyone knows how deep a mother's love is for her child. But how far can a father go? That is something we would love to see. Fans are looking forward to watching Irrfan on the big screen after a gap of 2 years, as he had taken a sabbatical to fight for his health. Ever since Irrfan took to Twitter to share that he has been diagnosed with a high-grade neuroendocrine tumour, which is a rare kind of cancer, fans have only been praying for his better health. View this post on InstagramGod speaks to each of us as he makes us, then walks with us silently out of the night. 18. Irrfan Khan - what is it about this ruggedly handsome man with his sheepish smile, that draws us in with ineloquently uttered dialogues, unsuitably professed love confessions and even the most awkwardly unheroic action punches that he successfully delivers? © Instagram Over a span of more than 30 long years that Irrfan has been in the industry, he has had a psychedelic journey sprinkled with riveting performances ranging from that of a letter writer in his debut film, to his outstanding performance in Puzzle and Karwaan before he bounced back after a tryst with cancer and promised to treat movie-lovers with yet another memorable journey, Angrezi Medium. © Instagram However, despite the dedicated fan base Irrfan enjoys, it needs to be reiterated why even the most gifted crop of Bollywood actors are no match to this dark horse who is in a league of his own. All we need is 5 points to prove it, so here goes: 1. He Is The Underdog Who Dared To Reach For The Stars © UTV spotboy It takes a lot to move out of your own shadow in a place that loves to typecast artists. For the longest time, Irrfan played his part with utmost honesty even when he was roped in for meagre roles with not more than a few seconds of screentime, Irrfan stretched his wings and landed in Hollywood after having proved his mettle in B-town. Today, Hollywood swears by his merit (or should we say magic) and Bollywood celebrates the gift of an unparalleled performer. 2. He Is Bollywood's Most Successful Atypical Hero © Yash Raj Films He's nothing like the 'typical' Bollywood hero you come across on the silver screen. His aren't the looks that sell tickets, you wouldn't have seen the man do a proper Bollywood dance number on too many occasions and he definitely does not subscribe to the 'ideal' romantic hero that Bollywood feeds us and makes for the most eligible anti-hero out there, who made it big despite being removed for Bollywood's trusted checklist of a hit-maker. 3. Irrfan Doesn't Just Act Or Perform, He Teaches © Instagram There's a craft in Irrfan's acting. He is a craftsman, a weaver of stories but most importantly, he is a teacher who turns his work into a classroom. And while he successfully entertains, he makes sure his audience learns a thing or two, either about the craft or the message he is trying to deliver with his performance. Regardless of how he does it, it's a lesson people love going back to. 4. Irrfan Isn't Just An International Celebrity, He Is A Million Dreams Personified © BCCL No star kid or Bollywood's overnight celebrity matched up to what Irrfan stands for. His journey makes him unconquerable. His struggles fuel millions of dreams and his success gives aspiring actors hope to not give up and continue to chase after their dreams. Irrfan makes people believe that dreams only come true when we dare not to give up. 5. Irrfan Is What Happens When Failure, Dedication And Undiluted Honesty Come Together © Sony-Pictures-Class As more and more new talent continues to surface in the mainstream acting scene, it takes a keen eye to identify that it takes more than mere looks, passion and lineage to make a mark for yourself in the industry. Irrfan isn't made up of solely the success that he enjoys, but instead, he is a product of his failures, and days of oblivion which were chased away by his utter honesty and dedication towards the one thing that rules his life - his craft, acting. We absolutely love Irrfan's attitude towards life and his commitment towards his work. His undying spirit is an inspiration for us all. Here is everything else that we know about the film so far. 1. 'Angrezi Medium' is a sequel to 2017's blockbuster hit 'Hindi Medium' which starred Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. 2. As per reports, currently, the film is being shot in parts of Udaipur in Rajasthan. Parts of the film will also be shot in London. © Maddock Films 3. The film will star Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles opposite Irrfan. 4. Reportedly, Radhika will be seen essaying the role of Irrfan's daughter, while Kareena will be seen portraying the role of a cop. 5. Irrfan's character in the film is called Champak ji, who owns a sweet shop called Ghasiteram Mishthan Bhandar that been in business since the 1900s. We already have very high hopes from the film and cannot wait to lay our eyes on the trailer ASAP.
  21. It takes more than mere skills to face the camera and enact a scene based on a narration and some lines peeking at you from between the white sheets of paper dabbed in black ink. It takes more than a few years of training at a film school, or the sweat and tears you expend backstage for every play that's presented in the theatres. There is a lot more that goes into the making of an actor. The talent and skills are but mere prerequisites in this line of work. So even before the cameras start rolling and the call to action is barked, it is an actor's struggles, continuous reinvention and unceasing passion for the craft that makes an actor, one who is worthy of spending our precious three hours over. © Instagram Irrfan Khan undoubtedly tops the list when it comes to actors who are worth every single 'paisa' of our money, and every minute of our time that we spend watching him spill his magic on-screen. Irrfan's journey in the Hindi film industry is a psychedelic, riveting montage of the many characters he portrayed to perfection throughout an acting career spans over 30 long years! From a meager role of a letter writer in Mira Nair's 'Salaam Bombay!' in 1988, to playing a jilted husband with a streak of wickedness about him Abhinay Deo's 'Blackmail' (2018), Irrfan's journey in Bollywood has almost all the shades of the colour (read acting) palette to his credit. © Instagram The big guns of the industry lost a bit of their sheen against the glory of this actor who persistently worked his way up the ladder. From often being a comic relief or kept at the sidelines as a prop to the larger storyline, he made his own path with titles such as 'Haasil', 'Maqbool', 'Life In A Metro' and 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' under his belt. However, it would be the 2012 release 'Paan Singh Tomar' that would finally bring Irrfan Khan his due in the Bollywood industry. Every actor and directed stopped and took notice of the actor who brought soldier-turned-bandit Paan Singh Tomar to life on the silver screen. © Instagram Soon enough people fell in love with this ruggedly handsome man, raw around the edges and bearing a sheepish smile, who was running his own race. The dark horse was finally here, and people simply couldn't get enough of the underdog making it to the “elite” category. 'The Lunchbox' was another massive win for the terrific actor, followed by marvels such as 'Qissa', 'Piku' 'Talvar', 'Madaari', 'Hindi Medium', and 'Qarib Qarib Singlle' that allowed us to witness and appreciate the actor who was changing the face of Hindi cinema one film at a time. © Instagram The wheels of fortune turned for Irrfan and this time it was not just Bollywood, but Hollywood too that wanted more of him on-screen. Hollywood had found the modern day actor for all things Indian. However, the roles Irrfan was being offered were not average, with limited screen presence like his predecessors. Irrfan bagged diverse, meaty roles in big Hollywood films such as 'The Warrior', 'Namesake', 'Jurassic World' 'Life of Pi' and 'The Inferno'. Now they say, with all the good comes a little of the bad, and the same came true for Irrfan. Last year in March, Irrfan announced that he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour and left for London soon after to undergo treatment for his condition. © Instagram All through his treatment the actor kept his fans and well-wishers updated about his condition and the progress he had made with the treatment. The past year was also the time when Irrfan had the time to introspect and come to terms with the bigger truth of life. Irrfan not only accepted the vulnerability of human life, but he was also vocal about the fact that at the end of the day we are nothing but human beings on this journey called life. © Instagram After a length of a long, arduous year, the 'Karwaan' actor officially announced that he is back in the game after kicking cancer to the curb - stronger than ever, and grateful for a second chance at life. He took to Twitter and shared that, “Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded. As I leave my footprints onto these steps of my life, I want to pause to be grateful for receiving your immense love and support, it soothed me in my process of healing. So I travel back to you, thanking you from the bottom of my heart.” © Instagram The picture that accompanied this post warmed our hearts, and we are equally thankful to get one of our best back. All of us are looking for his next film to hit the screens ASAP, and for now it seems there won't be a long wait. Irrfan's journey is proof that once a winner, always a winner.
