  2. Hailed as Bollywood's most prolific underdog-turned-mega-star, critically acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan has overpowered the tumour that was threatening his life, and won his battle against cancer. © RSVP Movies Last seen in the movie 'Karwaan' which was released in August last year, Irrfan had since been in London for his treatment. In March last year, Irrfan had announced that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. Soon after, he left for London to undergo treatment for his condition. The past year has been a struggle for Irrfan and his family, however, the actor recently returned home after successfully beating cancer. pic.twitter.com/d4Osol3NvP — Irrfan (@irrfank) April 3, 2019 But that's not it. Today, Irrfan took to Twitter to officially announce his Bollywood comeback post-cancer, with the first look of 'Angrezi Medium'. GMB serving since 1900s It's going to be fun to tell another story #AngreziMedium. Coming soon, with Mr Champakji... Aa Raha Hu phir entertain Karne Sabko #ItsTimeToKnowChampakJi #AngreziMediumð¸ ðºð» pic.twitter.com/mC3IL2UMpf — Irrfan (@irrfank) April 8, 2019 The actor wrote, “Aa raha hu phir entertain karne sabko” and posted the first look of his upcoming film which shows Irrfan as a simple, sweet shop owner in a simple shirt and pants combo, posing outside his sweet shop. We absolutely love Irrfan's attitude towards life and his commitment towards his work. His undying spirit is an inspiration for us all. Here is everything else that we know about the film so far. 1. 'Angrezi Medium' is a sequel to 2017's blockbuster hit 'Hindi Medium' which starred Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. 2. As per reports, currently, the film is being shot in parts of Udaipur in Rajasthan. Parts of the film will also be shot in London. © Maddock Films 3. The film will star Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles opposite Irrfan. 4. Reportedly, Radhika will be seen essaying the role of Irrfan's daughter, while Kareena will be seen portraying the role of a cop. 5. Irrfan's character in the film is called Champak ji, who owns a sweet shop called Ghasiteram Mishthan Bhandar that been in business since the 1900s. We already have very high hopes from the film and cannot wait to lay our eyes on the trailer ASAP.
  3. It takes more than mere skills to face the camera and enact a scene based on a narration and some lines peeking at you from between the white sheets of paper dabbed in black ink. It takes more than a few years of training at a film school, or the sweat and tears you expend backstage for every play that's presented in the theatres. There is a lot more that goes into the making of an actor. The talent and skills are but mere prerequisites in this line of work. So even before the cameras start rolling and the call to action is barked, it is an actor's struggles, continuous reinvention and unceasing passion for the craft that makes an actor, one who is worthy of spending our precious three hours over. © Instagram Irrfan Khan undoubtedly tops the list when it comes to actors who are worth every single 'paisa' of our money, and every minute of our time that we spend watching him spill his magic on-screen. Irrfan's journey in the Hindi film industry is a psychedelic, riveting montage of the many characters he portrayed to perfection throughout an acting career spans over 30 long years! From a meager role of a letter writer in Mira Nair's 'Salaam Bombay!' in 1988, to playing a jilted husband with a streak of wickedness about him Abhinay Deo's 'Blackmail' (2018), Irrfan's journey in Bollywood has almost all the shades of the colour (read acting) palette to his credit. © Instagram The big guns of the industry lost a bit of their sheen against the glory of this actor who persistently worked his way up the ladder. From often being a comic relief or kept at the sidelines as a prop to the larger storyline, he made his own path with titles such as 'Haasil', 'Maqbool', 'Life In A Metro' and 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' under his belt. However, it would be the 2012 release 'Paan Singh Tomar' that would finally bring Irrfan Khan his due in the Bollywood industry. Every actor and directed stopped and took notice of the actor who brought soldier-turned-bandit Paan Singh Tomar to life on the silver screen. © Instagram Soon enough people fell in love with this ruggedly handsome man, raw around the edges and bearing a sheepish smile, who was running his own race. The dark horse was finally here, and people simply couldn't get enough of the underdog making it to the “elite” category. 'The Lunchbox' was another massive win for the terrific actor, followed by marvels such as 'Qissa', 'Piku' 'Talvar', 'Madaari', 'Hindi Medium', and 'Qarib Qarib Singlle' that allowed us to witness and appreciate the actor who was changing the face of Hindi cinema one film at a time. © Instagram The wheels of fortune turned for Irrfan and this time it was not just Bollywood, but Hollywood too that wanted more of him on-screen. Hollywood had found the modern day actor for all things Indian. However, the roles Irrfan was being offered were not average, with limited screen presence like his predecessors. Irrfan bagged diverse, meaty roles in big Hollywood films such as 'The Warrior', 'Namesake', 'Jurassic World' 'Life of Pi' and 'The Inferno'. Now they say, with all the good comes a little of the bad, and the same came true for Irrfan. Last year in March, Irrfan announced that he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour and left for London soon after to undergo treatment for his condition. © Instagram All through his treatment the actor kept his fans and well-wishers updated about his condition and the progress he had made with the treatment. The past year was also the time when Irrfan had the time to introspect and come to terms with the bigger truth of life. Irrfan not only accepted the vulnerability of human life, but he was also vocal about the fact that at the end of the day we are nothing but human beings on this journey called life. © Instagram After a length of a long, arduous year, the 'Karwaan' actor officially announced that he is back in the game after kicking cancer to the curb - stronger than ever, and grateful for a second chance at life. He took to Twitter and shared that, “Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded. As I leave my footprints onto these steps of my life, I want to pause to be grateful for receiving your immense love and support, it soothed me in my process of healing. So I travel back to you, thanking you from the bottom of my heart.” © Instagram The picture that accompanied this post warmed our hearts, and we are equally thankful to get one of our best back. All of us are looking for his next film to hit the screens ASAP, and for now it seems there won't be a long wait. Irrfan's journey is proof that once a winner, always a winner.
  4. Last year, Irrfan Khan shared some really terrible news with everyone on Twitter, the news of him being diagnosed with Neuro-Endocrine tumor, which came as a shock to him, us, the entire country. Now, it's been a year and one month and we finally got some good news - he's healthy and he's back! Ever since everyone knew about him battling such a serious illness, he's received nothing but love and support from people and he's extremely grateful for that and he said that even “soothed him in his process of healing.” Sharing a heartfelt and emotional message on his Twitter, he thanked everyone and announced he's back. pic.twitter.com/d4Osol3NvP — Irrfan (@irrfank) April 3, 2019 Well, it's great to have you back! In this entire year, he's opened up about his journey only a couple of times and it's great because he got his privacy and space while receiving treatment and healing. 5. Hailed as Bollywood's most prolific underdog-turned-mega-star, critically acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan is reportedly all set to return to the country post his cancer treatment in London. Last seen in the movie 'Karwaan' which released in August, Irrfan had given a miss to the movie's promotion, since he had to move to London for his treatment. Earlier this year in March, Irrfan had announced that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. Soon after, he left for London to undergo treatment for his condition. RSVP Movies However, reports have been circulating that the actor will be returning home post-Diwali after his treatment. It is also being suggested that Irrfan might start shooting for 'Hindi Medium 2' post his return, later this year. HT has quoted Irrfan's spokesperson as saying, “The story floating about Irrfan starting Hindi Medium 2 shoot in December are all based on speculations. However, there is a possibility of him returning to India after Diwali”. T-Series The update comes as a happy news for his fans and well-wishers who had been waiting to hear about the status of his recovery since the last statement, which had come out in August. Earlier in August Irrfan had said, “I've seen life from a completely different angle. You sit down and you see the other side and that's fascinating. I'm engaged on a journey”, after receiving four rounds of chemotherapy as part of his treatment. The diagnosis had forced Irrfan to back out from making an appearance in the Amazon series 'Gormint'. However, with this latest update, we can now look forward to watching him set the screen on fire once again.
  6. Seems like we have a back-to-back string of proud moments for every art loving, cinema appreciating Indian out there. After Rima Das' 'Village Rockstars' became the official entry for India to the Oscars 2019, turns out that Bangladesh's official entry now has a wonderful Indian connection. Irrfan Khan's 'Doob- No Bed Of Roses' is now their official entry for the Academy Awards next year. The movie has been co-produced by Irrfan himself and follows the story of a filmmaker, who finds himself simmering in controversy after a tryst with his daughter's friend, that lands him in a soup. The movie has been written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and is apparently inspired by a real-life story which actually shook the conservative Bangladeshi society. © Jaaz Multimedia The movie was banned in the country after everyone claimed that it was loosely based on the life of Humayun Ahmed, a famous Bangladeshi filmmaker who divorced his wife of 27 years and married an actress 33 years his junior. © jaaz mutimedia The ban was eventually lifted last year in October, after which the movie was viewed in many countries and won many critical accolades as well.
  7. It's been a while since Irrfan Khan has been undergoing treatment for a neuroendocrine tumour in London. The news of the talented actor suffering from a rare form of cancer broke many hearts. Amid his ongoing health struggles, the actor today took to his Facebook page and announced that he will be opting out of Amazon Prime Original series 'The Ministry', now titled 'Gormint'. The show was one of the most-anticipated ones, especially because Irrfan was a part of it. The actor had already shot several scenes of the series but had to back out due to health concerns. Taking to Facebook, he shared, “With a heavy heart I would like to say that due to this ongoing situation, I will not be able to fulfil my acting commitment to the show. © Twitter I am gutted by this development because the character and the show thrilled me and I even lived with the character for several months before having to cut the journey short. But after extensive discussions, workarounds and sincere efforts by everyone involved, the situation prevents me from being able to do the show entirely. And thus, I must, at this time, exit stage left.” The actor mentioned how he is still looking forward to the show, “excited to see the final product and have complete faith in the creative team to deliver something that is unique and unseen in the Indian satire space so far and I wish them the same good luck and love that they have always wished for me,” Irrfan added. © Facebook Sharing the sad news AIB's Gursimran Khamba shared a picture of Irrfan and wrote, “To everyone who's been asking me “What's happening with The Ministry? (now Gormint) I'd like to inform everyone that due to Irrfan sir's unfortunate health situation we've jointly decided that he no longer be cast in the show. Over the last year as we worked on the show he's been everything from a friend, teacher to a mentor and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him. Life mein aise mauke kam hi milte hain - but abhi jo bhi likhoonga cliche lagega - toh woh saari stories baad mein. For now, from me and all of us at AIB, all we want is for him to get healthy and healed so we can plan more shenanigans together in the future. I still look forward to excitable 3 am calls from him with terrific random ideas for the show. And with a heavy heart, as we all begin to imagine and work on the show without him, I can only hope that we will still make something worthy of the vision and passion sir showed for it. Irrfan Khan has been fighting cancer with a smile giving all of us a huge lesson, as to how to deal with life, when the going gets tough.
  8. One of the best things about Irrfan Khan is that he has never ever kept his fans in the dark, no matter what he's going through. As everyone knows, the actor has been MIA because he's undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with Neuro-Endocrine tumour and has the entire country praying for his speedy recovery. He posts any message he has for everyone on Twitter and always keeps the people who have always supported him in the loop. We are all curious about his treatment and we want to know what he's going through and that's why he gives interviews and updates whenever he's up for it. We got one open letter just a little over a month ago and now he's further explained all the procedures and everything in an interview with Associated Press. © Twitter When asked how he's doing in general, he said, “I've seen life from a completely different angle. You sit down, and you see the other side and that's fascinating. I'm engaged on a journey.” Talking about what he went through after the diagnosis, he said, “There are challenges which life throws at you. But I have started believing in the way this condition has tested me, really, really tested me in all aspects — physical, emotional and spiritual. It has put me in a rapture state. Initially I was shaken. I didn't know. I was very, very vulnerable. But slowly, there is another way to look at things that is much more powerful and much more productive and much healthier and I just want people to believe that nature is much more trustworthy, and one must trust that. The problem with me initially was everyone was speculating whether I would be out of this disease or not. Because it's not in my hand. That's nature that will do whatever it has to do.” © Twitter He also emphasised how his perspective has changed during this. “What is in my hand, I could take care of that. And it offers so much that you feel thankful. The way it is opening your windows to look at life. I would have never reached that state even if I had done meditation for 30 years, I wouldn't have reached it. But this sudden jolt has put me into a platform where I could look at things in a completely different manner. And for that I am really thankful. It sounds strange, but they should trust nature rather than feel sad, and trust that whatever the outcome, it will be for good and it will be for the best.” When asked about work, he said he's not reading any scripts and not focussing on that right now, rather he's embracing the unpredictability of life: “I'm just spontaneous. And I'm loving this experience. There was something missing in my life. I was feeling a little manipulated by myself, by my own mind. There was a kind of disharmony in myself. It was bothering me. And I think this is what I was missing, this spontaneity.” © Twitter He also mentioned he's already gone through four cycles of chemo, and still has six more to go. And, he ended by saying, “Clarity came like lightning. You stop your contemplation, you stop your planning, you stop the noise. You see the other aspect of it. It gives you so much. Life offers you so much. That's why I feel like I have no other words but thanks. There are no other words, there's no other demand, there's no other prayer.”
  9. Irrfan Khan is currently in London undergoing treatment for a neuroendocrine tumor. Time and again, the actor keeps giving a glimpse of what's happening in his life. Just some time ago, we spotted him in a stadium enjoying a match and now, the actor took to his Twitter sharing a picture of him which is all smiles. © Twitter © Twitter The picture, which has now gone viral, makes us salute the man for his brave heart and his wonderful and positive outlook towards life, which quite honestly, is a lesson for all of us. Thank you to @IIFA and our audience who have been part for my journey ð #IIFA2018 https://t.co/GpxSmflkLx — Irrfan (@irrfank) June 26, 2018 Some time ago, Irrfan opened up about battling cancer and told Bombay Times, "It's been quite some time now since I have been diagnosed with a high-grade neuroendocrine cancer. This new name in my vocabulary, I got to know, was rare, and due to fewer study cases, and less information comparatively, the unpredictability of the treatment was more. I was part of a trial-and-error game. In this chaos, shocked, afraid and in panic, while on one of the terrifying hospital visits, I blabber to my son, 'The only thing I expect from ME is not to face this crisis in this present state. I desperately need my feet. Fear and panic should not overrule me and make me miserable'.” God speaks to each of us as he makes us, then walks with us silently out of the night. These are the words we dimly hear: You, sent out beyond your recall, go to the limits of your longing. Embody me. Flare up like a flame and make big shadows I can move in. Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final. Don't let yourself lose me. Nearby is the country they call life. You will know it by its seriousness.
