While some of us are just watching hilarious videos on TikTok others are making content on the app and passing their time. Recently, a Punjabâs policemanâs TikTok video helped a missing man get reunited with his family. A Punjab Police Cop, Ajaib Singh shared a video of his conversation with R Venkateshwarlu on the video streaming platform in the month of March. @goldypp99 ##virelvideos ##waheguru ⬠Jujharu Khalsa - Pamma Dumewal The brainchild behind the video was to encourage people to help the needy but it also helped in re-uniting Mr. Venkateshwarlu with his family. He also had speech and hearing difficulties which made it even more difficult to find his family. He now met his family after two years! According to BBC, Mr. Venkateshwarlu ended up in Ludhiana in 2018 which is thousands of kilometers away from his home state, Telangana. After his video was shared by a constable, a friend spotted him and informed his family. The family later contacted the Punjab Police and then got in touch with the missing man. The video shows the police constable Ajaib Singh offering food to the old man under a flyover in Ludhiana. Mr. Venkateshwarlu was also filmed indicating that he cannot speak or hear while thanking the policeman. And later, he took a lift by a truck driver and ended up in Ludhiana. His family took special permission amid lockdown to reach him and get him back home. View the full article
  2. The pandemic has made us see the good side of people. Many of us have realized that unity and helping each other at the time of crisis will make it easier for us to surpass these tough times. The 28-year-old former boxer, Jason Chua has been serving free meals to people in Singapore since early April. © Reuters The lockdown is necessary but it has also made people suffer all across the world from people not having work to many not being able to get the essentials due to lack of funds. The only way out is to help each other and thatâs exactly what the tattoo-covered former boxer is doing. Chua said, âThe pandemic has not been great for business although he is getting by.â He serves food to dozens of people every day. He said, âYes, we are losing, we are not exactly taking a salary for a few months already, but we still do maybe 10 to 25 orders per day for our business side, so that we can still sustain ourselves throughout this period of time.â © Reuters He was inspired by a close friend who gave a meal to a homeless man and later, Chua got motivated to give out free meals to the needy. Now, he gives out around 50-60 meals a day through his foundation âBeng Who Caresâ which is co-led by his friend Sean Hung. People who are requesting free meals belong to low-income families and reached to the foundation through their social media pages. © Reuters Chua described himself as an adrenaline junkie and said, âSurprisingly, the feedback is amazingâ¦It motivates you. I crave a lot of praises, and those praises are what is pushing me and motivating me to do what I really love.â We need more people like Chua! View the full article
  3. While OnePlus may have announced the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro recently, the company also announced a wireless charger for the 8 Pro. It is called the Warp Charge 30 wireless charger that uses proprietary technology to charge the OnePlus 8 Pro wirelessly at 30W which translates to 50 per cent top-up in just 30 minutes. © OnePlus The OnePlus wireless charger was announced for $70 in the US and â¬70 in Europe but never revealed the official pricing of the charger for India. But a recent leak has confirmed the wireless charger will retail in India for Rs 3,990; cheaper than any region OnePlus has launched this charger. The charger also has an in-built fan to keep the phone cool while charging wirelessly. It can also be used to charge other devices that support wireless charging however it will only charge at 5W when not using a OnePlus phone. © OnePlus Previous tests have shown that the fan on the wireless charger does make considerable amounts of noise. However, that can be avoided by using a Bedtime mode. This mode will let users turn off the fan manually but the charging speed will then be reduced at 10W. As the name suggests, this mood should be used during sleeping hours for a more silent performance than the fast-charging mode. The charger is expected to sell in India by next month when the country is expected to relax the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are also expected to sell alongside the charger albeit it is only compatible with the âProâ model. View the full article

  5. The Chinese city of Wuhan, where the Coronavirus originated last year, has raised its official COVID-19 death toll by 50%, adding 1,290 fatalities and bringing up the final tally to a staggering 3,869 lives lost. While Wuhan officials have attributed the stark increase to insufficient admission capabilities at hospitals overwhelmed during the outbreakâs peak in the city, several experts remain sceptic - as Chinese authorities have repeatedly worked to tone down the media impact of the virus by delaying action and restricting access to foreign inspectors, giving the impression that cities and towns were successfully managing the emergency. But how is he maintaining the impressive physique at a time when gyms are more dangerous than healthy and exercising out in the open is not an option? Well, the Thor actor shared a personalised workout routine on his Instagram account in which he gets his muscles activated with whatever items he could find around his house and it is simply awesome. Stay safe and healthy!A post shared by (@chrishemsworth) With his friend and trainer, Luke Zocchi, Hemsworth starts the video by talking about all the items the two are going to use including a couple of detergent jugs, a stool and a laundry basket. Hereâs how the Australianâs routine goes: 1. Burpee + Shoulder Press © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Hemsworth uses a set of detergent jugs to replace the dumbbells and gets into it. He begins a set with a push-up followed by picking up the jugs and into a shoulder press. One set includes six reps. 2. Stool Dips © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Zocchi gets into a dips position with a stool replacing the bench at the gym and gets his chest (pectoralis major) and triceps burning. One set includes six reps. 3. Tricep Kickbacks © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth While his trainer gets busy with the dips, Hemsworth sneaks a quick set of tricep kickbacks with a set of dumbbells. One set includes six reps. 4. âLaundryâ Squats © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth While you can do squats freehand, with a barbell over your shoulders or a set of dumbbells, Chris chooses something simpler, a laundry basket. He keeps the basket loaded with clothes (and eventually the two detergent jugs) in front of his torso and starts working on his quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, abdominals and calves. One set includes six reps. 5. Cross-Body Mountain Climbers © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth Yet another exercise that requires no equipment, cross-body mountain climbers as shown by Zocchi focuses essentially on your abdominals, hips, chest, shoulders, triceps and pays a considerable amount of focus to your body overall. Sit-Throughs © Instagram/Chris Hemsworth A core workout, the sit-throughs executed by the two in the video also allow you to work on your shoulders and hips while taking care of your overall body mobility and build coordination. Repeat the circuit five more times and your daily quota of working on your body and moving towards becoming stronger, despite the self-quarantine , is complete. View the full article
  7. The Coronavirus pandemic has exponentially increased mask usage around the world, and rightfully so. If masks can prevent you from inhaling the droplets infected with the virus, it makes sense to always be protected with the gear. However, unfortunately, it's not practical for everyone to wear a mask or even accessible, especially for people with disabilities. A college student in Kentucky, United States, Ashley Lawrence noticed this accessibility issue with masks and has tried to bridge the gap. © Ashley Lawrence/ Twitter Face masks cover the mouth, making it harder for the deaf and the hard of hearing to communicate. With the help of her mother, Ashley, a 21-year-old studying education for the deaf and hard of hearing, made face masks with a clear and transparent panel in the middle, for the visibility of the mouth of the wearer. This mask then provides assistance for people with disabilities. A mask with a visible panel can enable people to read lips or speak the Sign Language. © Ashley Lawrence/ Twitter This especially helps as the use of the hands and face for communication could put people with disabilities who are forced to communicate without a mask at higher risk for contracting COVID-19. In such a scenario, a mask like this makes all the difference. © Ashley Lawrence/ Twitter Ashley Lawrence had noticed this gap, "I felt like there was a huge population that was being looked over," Lawrence told Lex 18. "We're all panicking right now and so a lot of people are just not being thought of. So, I felt like it was very important that, even at a time like this, people need to have that communication." In an attempt to bridge it, Ashley Lawrence said she and her mother initiated the process of experimenting with versatile materials to make different types of masks. These included a kind that would wrap around the head or neck to accommodate people with cochlear implants or hearing aids. In just a matter of days, Ashley has received dozens of orders which she's making for free currently. View the full article
  8. One of Indiaâs biggest threats when it comes to fighting the Coronavirus pandemic in the subcontinent, is the countryâs low COVID-19 testing numbers. Even as the Director-General of the WHO advised all the affected countries to âtest, test, testâ on every other citizen, India has only been testing people with foreign travel history or those who have been exposed to confirmed Coronavirus patients. The major reason why weâre facing this situation is that India has limited testing facilities. Or so was the case until very recently. Because now, a Pune-based virologist named Minal Dakhave Bhosale has successfully developed Indiaâs first, low-cost COVID-19 testing kit which is being hailed as a game-changer for Indiaâs fight against Coronavirus. Who Is Minal Dakhabe Bhosale © Twitter Minal is a virologist who works with a Pune-based molecular diagnostics company named Mylab Discovery Solutions as their Research and Development Chief. Reportedly, Minal was eight months pregnant and had just come home from a pregnancy-related complication when she took up the project to create the first âmade in Indiaâ coronavirus testing kit - âPatho Detectâ. Minal was heading a 10-member team and handled major proceedings remotely from home since February this year. She, along with her dedicated team, worked non-stop to develop the testing kit in a record six weeksâ time, given the countryâs growing need to test more people for the Coronavirus infection. © Twitter Minal submitted the fully-finished kit for evaluation at the National Institute of Virology in Pune on 18th March. And as fate would have it, the very next day she gave birth to her daughter through C-section. But even an hour before she was to leave for the hospital, Minal submitted her proposal to the Indian FDA and CDSCO seeking commercial approval. She got it all right in the first go, got the necessary clearances and gave India a much-needed weapon to fight Coronavirus. What Makes This Testing Special © BCCL - LinkedIN Not only has this development come as a ray of hope for Indians, the kit developed by Minal and her team also comes with its own salient features that make it invaluable. This COVID-19 testing kit can reportedly test 100 samples per kit and would cost one-fourth the price at Rs 1,200 as opposed to Rs 4,500 imported testing kits cost. Thatâs not all. Indiaâs COVID-19 testing kit is capable of giving correct diagnostic results in just two and a half hours as opposed to the six or seven hours imported test kits take. Whatâs more, the kit can also indicate potentially positive cases among asymptomatic patients What This Means © BCCL The first few batches of kits developed by Minal and her team have already been sent out to diagnostic laboratories in major Indian cities. The director of the manufacturing company of the COVID-19 kits, Mylab Discovery, told BBC that the company can supply up to 100,000 kits in a week and push it up to 200,000 if needed. This week will see more kits reaching many other labs and take-up Indiaâs much-needed testing numbers higher. Talking about the feat, Minal told BBC, "It was an emergency, so I took this on as a challenge. I have to serve my nation." Given the dire need to scale up the number of random testing of Coronavirus in India, 'Mylab PathoDetect COVID-19 Qualitative PCR kit' can not only help with early diagnosis but also help bring down the number of fatalities in the process. Kudos to Minal Bhosale and her team for their terrific work! View the full article

On a daily basis, we come across instances of shortage of face masks and hand sanitizers in the market. Unfortunately, many people, not caring about others, are hoarding masks and sanitizers, forgetting that other people need to be protected too in order to contain the virus outbreak. We have now seen the bad and good side of many people during this difficult time that we are all going through. Having said that, football superstar Christiano Ronaldo has turned out to be a real hero and is doing his bit to fight against the outbreak of Covid-19. I would like to send my thoughts to everyone who has lost someone close to them, my solidarity to those who are fighting the virus, like my teammate Daniele Rugani, and my continued support to the amazing health professionals putting their own lives at risk to help save others,â he added. At the moment he is quarantined in Madeira, after finding out that one of his teammates, Daniele Rugani tested positive for the virus. The members who came in contact with Rugani are in voluntary quarantine at the moment. © Reuters The novel coronavirus has led to the suspension of many global sporting events such as NBA, ATP and WTA tournaments, and many top-tier football tournaments across Europe and many major cricket sports events including Indian Premier League. 11. A dog is a manâs best friend, and there is no telling why. These loyal to a fault, selfless, adorable balls of fur add so much love and eye-opening experiences to our lives, that it is often impossible to not hold them dear at a glance. However, now it seems that the Bengaluru Police has decided to scale things up a bit and call on this unique animal-human friendship to include Indie dogs into their Police Canine Unit. While it is pretty common to find Labradors, German Shepherds and even Dobermans in the Police squad, the inclusion of Indie breeds into the mix comes as welcome news. © Flickr The news came to light when IPS officer and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao shared a 44-second clip on Twitter, which showed a young Indie pup learning to follow its trainer's instructions. The female pup in the video is named Pooja and does a pretty good job of following the commands. Reportedly, the Bengaluru Police is trying to experiment with Indie dogs making it to the Police Canine squad, and so far the results do not seem to be disappointing. We are training Indies to be part of our Police Canine Unit as an experiment... pic.twitter.com/0xbV00EbVW â Bhaskar Rao IPS (@deepolice12) March 12, 2020 However, here is hoping the man in the video is a certified trainer who knows what he is doing. Also, it goes without saying that these Indie fur balls would be given the same amount of love and care like other breeds in the Canine Unit get. Besides all that, there is one other point that is bound to catch peopleâs attention in the video, the leash which is tugged and pulled constantly during the training. Animal lovers would much prefer that it be traded for a good quality harness that wouldnât hurt these paw-fect beings while training as future guard dogs ready to serve the nation. Regards. â Vicky Mahanta (@VickyMahanta) March 12, 2020 Nice to know that the Indies are being recruited. If trained well, they can be as good as many foreign breeds. But you need a far better trainer. One who understands the concept of balanced training and not just "only positive" training. Please avoid teaching unwanted tricks. â Obhijit Raha (@ObhijitR) March 13, 2020 Love this. We are willing to learn, if you know please tell us or put us across to people who can do, regards â Bhaskar Rao IPS (@deepolice12) March 12, 2020 People seem to love this initiative too. 13. Tell you what, saying 'no' isnât the easiest thing you can do. Things get especially tricky when you have to put your foot down and say 'no', particularly, at work. To your manager, to your co-workers or even work friends. Workplaces suck that way, there are way too many deadlines and KRAs to meet, but whatâs worse is the endless sprinkling of âpseudo expectationsâ. It never ceases to amaze me how even the otherwise 'inefficient' labelled employee is also burdened with expectations that are practically beyond their capacity. © Getty Images But who cares, right? If your boss calls for a quick huddle that lasts close to an hour and has no real output, can you say 'no' to it next week? If your manager calls you anti-social for missing one unofficial team hangout sesh, can you say 'no' the next time? If a colleague expects you to pick on someone who bothers you, can you say 'no'? The answer to all that is a YES in all-caps and here are 5 other work situations when itâs absolutely okay to say a straight-forward no: 1. Impractical Goal-Setting Thatâs Bound To Tank © Getty Images You cannot claim to have worked and not faced this from the moment you were eligible to call yourself an earning member of the society. While a few things in your goal-setting are meant to push you, give you exposure and help you grow professionally, some of them can be sly ways of screwing up your performance and therefore appraisal. Kyunki kuch toh reason chahiye na? First, say 'no' when you see it, and then keep the door open for discussion, if needed. 2. Extra Workload When Youâre Already Loaded © Getty Images Again, I know work often demands that you multitask, but when you are literally loaded and overworked, itâs simply unfair to give you more projects and added responsibilities. Not only does that impact the quality of our work, but also adds unnecessary stress and frustration to your life which honestly we can do away with. If this is happening to you, say 'no' and that you canât right now. If they persist, let the delegator know how you have your hands full ATM and wouldnât be able to do justice to the extra workload. 3. Office Parties/After Work Hangouts You Donât Want To Be A Part Of © Getty Images I, personally, love this one, and Iâm pretty sure so does every other introvert and/or ambivert out there. For some of us, this literally is a task in itself. It takes away a lot of our energy and mental peace to socialise with a large group of people we donât personally relate to. But to fake that just for the heck of it, or to adhere to some invisible social/office etiquette is beyond us when weâd rather chill at home or with people who matter. I say, donât compromise on whatâs more important for your happy energy and say 'no' to these parties if you want to. Because you can. 4. Anything That Goes Against Your Personal Ethics © Getty Images The corporate scene is twisted. Working in a team and working under authority often means you would have to hold your tongue even when you donât agree to something. But hereâs what, if your boss wants you to give a negative HR feedback about a fellow colleague that you donât agree with, say 'no'. If someone expects you to share their personal grudge but you donât, say 'no'. If something forms a lump in your throat, do not swallow it. Spit it out and walk away. 5. Discussions That Have No Relation To Work © Getty Images You donât want to bitch about âhowâ that dude or dudette got the big project? Donât. Donât want to indulge in talks related to political inclinations? Donât. Donât want to get involved in the matters of faith? Donât. If you do not want to participate in discussions that are non-work related or add anything to your productivity, donât. Decline the offer or just get up and leave. View the full article
  14. With cases of Coronavirus increasing with each passing day, one of the simplest yet life-saving universal message, which governments and countries are sending out to their citizens is - to wash hands. If you want to stay safe, wash your hands as frequently as possible and follow it with a hand sanitizer. Probably use a hand sanitizer more than that perfume you bought for summers. Be it public places, your social media feed or even the caller tune of your mobile phone; every form of media is being used to spread the message of cleanliness and the importance of washing hands and using a sanitizer, to avoid coming in contact with any virus or germs. In India, almost every office now has huge bottles of hand sanitizers at different spots for people to use. © Reuters Now, what more can you possibly do? I mean, you definitely can't walk around with a hand sanitizer asking every person to use it? But, according to this Saudi Arabian company, you can become one and just roam around the office. No matter how bizarre it sounds, but an oil company in Saudi Arabia called Aramco made a worker actually do that and are now being criticised on social media for their 'racist' behaviour. In the pictures shared on social media, a migrant worker was wearing a face mask and dressed up as a 'human hand-sanitizer' and walking up to the office staff so they can use it. These pictures and his disheartening expression is enough to figure out that no one is enjoying this 'promotional and fun act'. طبÙÙØ© Ø®ÙÙجÙØ© اÙداء Ù٠أراÙÙÙ pic.twitter.com/FpWsUNw7mE â Ùشا٠ÙÙÙÙ (@HishamFageeh) March 10, 2020 Although the place is not mentioned, people are guessing (through the pictures) this incident took place in the company's Dhahran office. 17. India has come a long way in the way it loves. People are crossing socio-cultural, linguistic and even religious barriers to be with the one who makes their world go round. However, for many of them, such brave love stories end on a sad note. From honour killings to ostracism, couples have to bear a tragic aftermath for choosing to love or marrying outside their caste or religious community. © Instagram However, the Kerala government has come up with an innovative and highly commendable tactic to keep such tragedies at bay by opening âsafe homesâ for inter-caste and inter-religion couples. The idea is to provide these couples with a space where they can seek shelter and protection during their time of need. The initiative has been proposed by the Department of Social Justice and aims to open such multiple safe facilities across all the districts in Kerala. © Getty Images Talking about the proposal, Kerala Social Justice Minister K K Shailaja informed the media that the groundwork for setting up these 'safe homes' has already begun, and inter-faith and inter-caste couples can stay in these homes for up to one year after marriage. Thatâs not all, couples seeking the benefits of these safe homes will also be given financial assistance worth Rs 30,000 for general category couples and Rs 75,000 for scheduled caste couples, in order to promote self-employment. © Getty Images This path-breaking announcement comes after the relatives of an upper-caste woman in Kottayam abducted and killed her Dalit Christian husband in 2018. Kerala has yet again shown us that it is always stepping up its game when it comes to turning a new leaf and giving hope for a better future. And this is no exception. I donât know. Iâm looking for, like â can we get like Gone With The Wind back, please?â Trump said, to loud cheers. For context, Gone With The Wind is a historical epic romance film adapted from a 1936 novel of the same name - set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. While legendary actors Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable made history with the film no doubt. The film also has a troubling history regarding its depiction of black people. Set in the deeply racist American South, the film has been criticised for glorifying slavery, portraying black characters as foolish, dim-witted and subservient - while Hattie McDonald became the first black person to win an Oscar after the filmâs release, the character she portrayed was that of a maid, and several black activists criticised her role as pandering towards white racist stereotypes. © Metro Goldwyn Mayer Given Trumpâs long and storied history with racist comments and remarks, itâs not surprising that heâs fond of the movie. One man, in particular, came up with a powerful way that he could honour all the martyrs - by making a special memorial for them. Hats off to him, for real, this is one of the best tributes ever. He collected all the soil in one urn which is now displayed at the memorial that was inaugurated today at Lethpora camp in the Pulwama district. After the ceremony, he said, "My main purpose was to pay respect and homage to the jawans who lost their lives in the attack. I have travelled more than 61,000 kilometres to collect the soil. Their soil is for mother earth. I am proud that I met all the families of Pulwama martyrs and sought their blessings. Can they try a similar experiment inside the parliament??? â B.Paul (@bjpaulshere) February 7, 2020 Mom, I got a job at the airport Oh wow, what do you get to do Well I wear a costume and chase monkeys Umm ok â Shiva (@shiva2607) February 7, 2020 While one user highlighted how the costume managed to scare off the langurs without harming them. Good approach without harming those langoors. â Gaurav Jain (@GauravJaindian) February 7, 2020 Langurs are quite a common sight across the subcontinent, with eight diverse species found everywhere from the Himalayas to the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu. Despite being an occasional nuisance - stealing food and breaking into residences in several hillside towns, theyâre commonly worshipped in Hinduism as representations of the deity, Hanuman. © Wikimedia; A grey langur family looks out over the edge of a hillside fort. Able to adapt to a wide variety of habitats, theyâre particularly good at making a living in human settlements - the Rajasthani city of Jodhpur, for example, is home to a population of up to one million langurs. In response to the incident, Airport Director Manoj Gangal spoke to ANI. âLangurs are scared of bears and so we made a costume. When our staff member wore it and tried to scare the langurs, they started running away. So this is a good and successful experiment. We have been doing this from the past one week." A week, it seems. Letâs see how much longer the bear-chase can keep going. View the full article
  25. Like many of you who clicked this link, Iâve been smoking for over half a decade now. Although my past days of pack-a-day lung abuse are past me, and I limit myself to an occasional cigarette every now and then, Iâve always held back from quitting entirely with the simple (and rather shameless) justification - itâs too late, and the damage is done. Itâs a line Iâve heard from several fellow smokers, and looks like whether we like it or not, science has reached a definite conclusion - your lungs can heal from years, even decades of smoking, in a process that researchers have described as âremarkableâ. According to this recently published study, no matter the scale of damage, a few cells in the lungs will survive and replenish the health of damaged cells over time, provided that the subject in question quits smoking. When burned, cigarettes release around 7,000 different chemicals - several of which cause extreme harm to the DNA in your lung cells. Over time, this causes them to corrupt and slowly turn from healthy to cancerous - a process that begins long before a smoker contracts lung cancer. © Reuters; Mitsuru Niinuma, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at the age of 69. Researchers took samples of lung cells from children, never-smoker adults, ex-smokers and current smokers - a large majority of the cells collected from smokersâ airways were mutated on a genetic level, with the study noticing up to 10,000 alterations in their genetic code. "These can be thought of as mini time bombs, waiting for the next hit that causes them to progress to cancer," said Dr Kate Gowers to the BBC, as one of the researchers at UCL. However, despite this, a small bunch of cells remained completely unscathed. Exactly how they avoid the genetic devastation caused by smoking is unclear, but the researchers said they appeared to "exist in a nuclear bunker". The good news is that these cells are able to reach out and replace previously damaged cells - leading to healthy lungs after a smoker quits. In people who quit, up to 40% of their cells looked just like those from people who had never smoked. "We were totally unprepared for the finding," Dr Peter Campbell, from the Sanger Institute, told BBC News. He added: "There is a population of cells that, kind of, magically replenish the lining of the airways. One of the remarkable things was patients who had quit, even after 40 years of smoking, had regeneration of cells that were totally unscathed by the exposure to tobacco." Given the state of air pollution in Indian cities, our population is one of the most-at-risk for lung cancer in the world - as recently as 2016, over 67,000 patients were diagnosed with lung cancer in the country. Hopefully, news like this helps smokers take that leap to cut out their tobacco addiction. "It's a really motivating idea that people who stop smoking might reap the benefits twice over,â mentioned Dr Rachel Orritt, from Cancer Research UK. View the full article
