Neeraj Chopra recently shared a tweet while promoting the auctioning of the javelin he had used to win the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics earlier this year. Stand a chance to make my Olympic javelin yours, at the https://t.co/XCT5G6GNBf auction which will take place until Oct 7. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the Namami Gange initiative. pic.twitter.com/mdWZA72VJ1 — Neeraj Chopra (@Neeraj_chopra1) October 5, 2021 “Stand a chance to make my Olympic javelin yours, at the http://pmmementos.gov.in auction which will take place until Oct 7. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the Namami Gange initiative,” he wrote in the post on the micro-blogging website. With the deadline to bid for the item being October 7, 2021, 5 PM IST, the highest bid is already sitting at Rs 1,00,00,500 and more and more people are offering their bids to have possession of the priceless javelin. According to Chopra’s tweet, all the proceeds that come from the auction will go towards the Namami Gange Programme, an initiative started by the Government of India in 2014, with the “twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga.” The initial budget outlay for this project was Rs 20,000 Cr according to NMCG. However, the Olympic gold medallist’s decision to auction off his memorable javelin did not sit well with some of his fans, even though it is for a good cause. Some felt that Chopra is wrong in giving away that one true thing that not only made him a world champion but also brought him seemingly limitless fame and global recognition. Others simply do not believe in the Namami Gange initiative. Bhai ji it's your memories for the lifetime with this javelin, please don't sell it in auction... This money will not go in namami gange, it will go in the pockets of corrupt politicians in power now..please keep it with you bro Jai haryanavi jai hind — Ashish Dahiya (@ashishD530) October 6, 2021It's a good initiative . Sorry but I have to express the reality @Pvsindhu1 @mirabai_chanu https://t.co/c3UaBpgUn1 — ManishMadbaiyaUSA (@ManishMadbaiya5) October 6, 2021However, there were also those who felt that it was a great step that Chopra had taken towards protecting the Ganges river and that auctioning his javelin for a cause as big as this will only bring his fans closer to him. I think it's good initiative taken by d Govt of India .v known Ganga as MaaGanga,it's holy water .it's every1's responsibility dat v should keep clean rivers and surroundings 2.hope fr the best bid for NamamiGange!it's also supported by Shri.Uma Bharati. pic.twitter.com/8dMKz568Yy — Devyani kubade (@devyani_kubade) October 5, 2021You are a true inspiration for the young of this country! — Akshay Gupta (@GuyWithYogaMat) October 6, 2021Sir it's a great initiative by our respected pm......u r great — Kiran Tiwari (@KiranTiwari05) October 5, 2021The auction also features the javelin used by Sumit Antil to bag the gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, the badminton racket used by shuttler PV Sindhu to win the bronze medal, a hockey stick signed by the members of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze medal. Other sports equipment such as Bhavani Devi’s fence is also up for grabs. The last time such an auction took place was in 2019. In that auction, the government raised over Rs 15.13 crore. Chennai Super Kings’ opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad continues to climb the ladder of great form after he smashed his maiden IPL century off just 60 deliveries while hitting a massive 108-meter six on the last delivery of the innings. While the fact that Gaikwad played the entire 20 overs and remained unbeaten, is a massive achievement in itself, it was his celebration just after hitting the centurion six, that grabbed a lot of fans’ attention. . pic.twitter.com/umUJNQOVMZ — Bhuwantastic Videos (@BhuwantasticVid) October 2, 2021 As soon as the ball made the connection with the bat, Gaikwad knew that it was going to go over the boundary but it would create the record of the longest six in the IPL 2021 season - he had never thought. A fist pump in the air, a big smile, and the bat raised high above to celebrate the well-deserved ton, everything about the video just shouts “limitless confidence” and it didn’t go unnoticed. 100 with a six for Ruturaj Gaikwad #Ruturajgaikwad #century #CSKvsRR pic.twitter.com/fgltfVdb8D — Diksha:DhoNi (@Diksha_7289) October 2, 2021Ruturaj Gaikwad completed his first Hundred with 108 Meters SIX. #CSKvRR pic.twitter.com/SGGyHgp28g — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) October 2, 2021Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 108 Meters long six to score his first century in #IPL #RuturajGaikwad #IPL2021 pic.twitter.com/OwKPNPYaW4 — Info Coverage (@infocoverage) October 2, 2021Ruturaj Gaikwad has Longest SIX in #IPL2021 . - 108 Meter. pic.twitter.com/KJOa3KMaLv — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) October 2, 2021In fact, some of the fans even ended up comparing it to the ultimate “badass” moment that Indian javelin thrower and Tokyo Olympic 2020 Gold Medalist, Neeraj had after throwing his last javelin in the final round to secure the medal. Last time I saw this confidence is when Neeraj Chopra threw that javelin pic.twitter.com/02h2TtyXuE — chikoo ➐ (@tweeterrant) October 2, 2021 In the first matches that Gaikwad had played for the CSK, he had managed to put up 5, 5, and 10 runs respectively. However, the team management and head coach Stephen Fleming not only continued to support the young lad’s talent and skillset but were also unafraid of talking about his potential greatness publicly. Ever since the early slump, Gaikwad’s scorecard for the rest of the matches looks like this: 64, 33, 75, 4, 88*, 38, 40, 45, and 101*. Although CSK managed to put up a decent total of 189 runs for Rajasthan Royals to have to chase down, the latter squad made the task look rather effortless. Thanks to some stellar and hard-hitting done by batters Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 off 21) and Shivam Dube (64* off 42), Royals scored 190 runs in just 17.3 overs for the win. At the end of the day, CSK skipper MS Dhoni had to resort to sarcasm while commending the opposing side’s will to win and gave them their props. "250 would've been closer to par, given the way they were going," said Captain Cool in the post-match presentation. View the full article

Arshad Nadeem breaks silence on javelin throw controversy

Arshad Nadeem confirms Neeraj Chopra asked for his javelin from him during the Olympic final competition -
Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra was always considered to be a top prospect for the Indian contingent to get a medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, the athlete was found in a state of panic ahead of the first throw in the final round when he could not find his spear. In an interview with The Times of India, Chopra revealed the story of what was happening on the ground just moments before he was supposed to make his first throw. © Reuters “I was searching for my javelin at the start of the final (in Olympics). I was not able to find it. Suddenly, I saw Arshad Nadeem was moving around with my javelin. Then I told him. ‘Bhai give this javelin to me, it is my javelin! I have to throw it’. He gave it back to me. That’s why you must have seen I took my first throw hurriedly,” Chopra told the publication. There’s video footage of the incident taking place during the Games as well. In the footage captured, Neeraj can be seen approaching his Pakistani rival with an extended hand to check out the javelin he was carrying. Upon inspecting, he could be seen taking it away from him and back to his set of spears. Neeraj would then go on to mount the spear over his right shoulder, jog towards the scratch line and toss it 87.03 meters far on his first attempt. Now, fans of the Indian athlete are wondering why would Nadeem even take Neeraj’s javelin, especially in the final, just moments before it was his turn to throw and what would have happened if Neeraj had not spotted him at the right time: Why did Arshad Nadeem take away Neeraj Chopra's javelin during the Olympics finals just before his throw? pic.twitter.com/qt27hitFV9 — Arun Pudur (@arunpudur) August 25, 2021So the real story is that Arshad Nadeem the Pakistani Javelin thrower walked away with Chopra's Javelin. While Shayan was dreaming of Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra together on the podium, Nadeem was busy hiding Neeraj’s javelin. Pakistan The Hindu pic.twitter.com/TOOEwtkR2S — Varada Marathe (@Varada_M) August 25, 2021 Neeraj would go on to throw it 87.58 meters far in the second attempt, which would be the one to win the gold medal. With the win confirmed with the second throw, the third and final throw was all about celebrations. As soon as he threw the final javelin, he turned around, raised both his hands in the air, and ran towards his coaching team to enjoy the monumental occasion that he has earned for his country and himself. Meet The 'Forgotten' Javelin Thrower Who Won India Gold Before Neeraj Chopra
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Neeraj Chopra has deservedly been in the news for his maiden gold at the Olympics, his feat is undeniably impressive and a historic moment in our country’s sporting history. However, before him there was a certain athlete who earned not one, but two gold medals for India in the same sport at an equivalent level. Still processing this feeling. To all of India and beyond, thank you so much for your support and blessings that have helped me reach this stage. This moment will live with me forever pic.twitter.com/BawhZTk9Kk — Neeraj Chopra (@Neeraj_chopra1) August 8, 2021 Back in 2004 at Athens, an Indian javelin thrower won his first gold medal. He repeated this incredible feat in 2016 at Rio as well. All with a single arm, as he had lost the other in a freak accident in his younger years. In fact, that’s the reason why he picked up the sport in the first place. His accolades make him the first and only Indian to ever win gold at any Olympics or Paralympics games. Now it's time to show the love and support to #Paralympics like we have shown to #Olympics. He was always into sports and playing games, however, things changed for him after he turned 8. He recalls the life-altering incident in an interview with The Hindu, “I was climbing a tree in my village and accidentally touched a live cable, which was apparently an 11,000-volt cable. So severe was the accident that (my left hand) had to be amputated right away — nobody was sure whether I would be able to recover from it.” As we celebrate Neeraj Chopra’s success at #Tokyo2020, spare a moment to remember Davinder Jhanjhariya an Athlete who has won two gold medals in the same discipline (Javelin) for India at the Paralympic. pic.twitter.com/ih0juG1ALD — Shaun Fanthome (@shaunfanthome) August 8, 2021 Devendra knew life wouldn’t be the same for him without his lost arm, but his tenacity still remained. Unfettered by the wayward rebukes, sympathetic jests and ridicule that came his way, he moved forward, for he was hell-bent on leaving his mark in the world. True CallingHe discovered the wonderful world of javelin at his school grounds. He dedicatedly observed athletes trying to fling the lance the farthest they could, and he soon realized his calling. He had found a sport that could be played with a single arm. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies for him, but he had the support of his parents, as the two-time gold medalist clarifies to The Hindu, “You can try and imagine how a parent would feel when someone says stuff like that about their own child. But my parents never let me feel the heat… I was striving to not make myself appear weak to the world. And the only way to achieve it was to succeed, to be a champion. To be a champion, you had to be a sportsman, so I started focusing more on the sport. In my 10th standard, I started practising every day and soon became district champion in the Open category. I kept on winning medals in inter-college, district, and State events.” Leslie Claudius and Udham Singh are the only 2 Indian athletes to have won an Olympic medal spread over 12 years. An opportunity to leave an everlasting impression. And what an incredible legacy he has created for himself. What’s Next For The World Beater The now 40-year-old javelin thrower is determined to win his third paralympic gold. Which doesn’t seem impossible for Devendra as he set a new world record (65.71m) while qualifying for the Tokyo Games. Whose record did he break? His own. Javelin Star Neeraj Chopra Has One More ‘Honour’ To His Name & This Is Huge
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
August 7, 2021 will forever be etched in our minds as Neeraj Chopra won the Men's Javelin Gold in Olympics and inspired every citizen of the country. He is the new poster boy of Indian sports after making history at the Tokyo Olympics. Lalit Bhanot, the Chairman of Athletics Federation of India's (AFI) Planning Committee, on Tuesday said they will stage javelin throwing competitions every year on August 7. #JavelinThrow @afiindia to stage #Javelin competition every year on August 7 to honour @Neeraj_chopra1 On August 7, #NeerajChopra became the first athlete from the country to win a gold in track and field in the @Olympics More Here https://t.co/wxB8xayfIx pic.twitter.com/LdvX1d1f3B — The Times Of India (@timesofindia) August 10, 2021 “Athletics Federation of India's planning committee has decided to further promote javelin throwing and will hold competitions every year throughout the country on August 7 as Neeraj Chopra won the gold in Tokyo on this day," Bhanot said in a felicitation program organized for Neeraj Chopra by the AFI. View this post on Instagram Neeraj must be more than happy that finally, Javelin as a sport, has also gotten the much-needed recognition and many more youngsters will try the sport now. In the felicitation ceremony, Neeraj was asked about his big achievement and he said, “This gold medal is not only mine but also belongs to India. I didn't eat and sleep well after winning the gold medal. The competition was very tough at the Olympics. After qualification, I realized this is the best opportunity of my life and I'll not lose it.” He also added, “I just want to say, no matter who the opposition is, give your best. That is all you need to do and this is what this gold medal stands for. Never fear the opposition.” Neeraj became only the second individual Olympic champion from independent India. He ended India’s 13-year-long wait for the national anthem at the medal ceremony in the Olympics. For making it big in Olympics, he even chopped off his long hair. Talking about it, said, “I like long hair but I was getting irritated by the heat, long hair causes a lot of sweating. So I got a haircut. I have kept long hair since I was 9-10 years old, but of late, it started to bug me. In a couple of competitions, it was causing me to sweat, and it was dripping onto my eyes. I tried using a hairband also, but it would fall off.” View this post on Instagram “So I thought that it’s the Olympics, style baad mei ho jaayega, game pehle (style can come later, the game comes first),” he added. ‘F**kbboi’, ‘heart-breaker’, ‘serial-dater’, ‘player’, ‘womanizer’ are all pretty demeaning yet widely used adjectives that are doled out for men left, right and centre. In fact, even before someone gets to know them it is simply believed that a man comes with an inherent instinct of being a jerk or someone who would be in it only to 'fling it'. © Voltage Pictures And even though a lot of women out there may have actually encountered a few Casanovas in their dating history, including myself, it is just wrong to assume that every man comes with a one-track mind. After all, one bad fish doesn’t necessarily have to dirty the entire pond. Men are more than just about what is on the surface and it’s time that certain misconceptions were thrown as far as Neeraj Chopra’s javelin at the Olympics. Here are some of them: 1. 'Men Are All About ***' © Eros International The saying, as far as I remember, is, ‘everything in this world is about ***’, and it doesn’t just pertain to men. If anything, men are just more vocal and upfront about their intentions as opposed to women, which is often misconstrued for their interest being limited to just the act. When in reality, men too are emotional and not just *** machines. 2. 'Men Are Selfish Lovers' © iStock For everyone who thinks men are only about receiving and never reciprocating, probably have had a run-in with a bad lot, because men, in general, take a lot of pride in being the one to help their partner achieve an orgasm. They might care for their orgasm, but they also make plenty of efforts to make their partner feel equally satisfied. Who did you think came up with ‘69’? 3. Committed Men Who Watch Porn Aren’t 'Serious' © iStock Okay, first things first - porn doesn’t equate to cheating. Many men watch porn for the purpose of masturbation and last we checked, masturbation was healthy to keep the hormones in check. Yes, an addiction to anything is bad, but accusing men of being unfulfilled in their relationships if they watch porn is simply a myth that needs to be busted. It simply acts as a catalyst to a process. 4. 'Men Don’t Like Using Protection' © iStock Possibly one of the biggest misconceptions that has found its way to us maybe because of the pleasure that women assume men get when they’re having unprotected ***. But in reality, there is no one more paranoid about using protection than men simply because they wouldn’t want to be tied down with the responsibilities of an unplanned or unwanted kid. And to make sure that doesn’t happen, they’d always prefer to be safe than sorry. 5. 'Men Are Turned On Only When They Have An Erection' © iStock Yes, an erection is a glowing symbol of judging whether or not your partner is into you and turned on, but a lot of times, a man may not get an erection despite having the hots for you. Just like how a woman, at times, runs through a dry spell no matter how turned on she might be. Hence, an erection shouldn’t be the only factor to take into consideration when judging your partner’s drive for you. View the full article

The moment the entire country has been waiting for, for 13 long years, is finally here. The last time we felt this level of exhilaration as a country, was when Abhinav Bindra shot his way to the gold medal, at Beijing Olympics in 2008. India has finally broken its 13 year old gold drought, through its newest superstar javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra's monstrous throw. via GIPHY Neeraj made headlines last week after he settled on top of the table, with a mega-throw that scored an impressive 86.65 m on the board. Today, he surpassed that with a massive 87.58 m, that no one else was able to match. © Instagram/Neeraj Chopra Both the silver and bronze were won by Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch (86.67m) and Vesely Vitezslav (85.44m), who gave a tough fight. Jakub had Indians gasping for breath at one point, but Neeraj ultimately proved too good to be touched. via GIPHY All eyes were on Neeraj Chopra for obvious reasons, however, Pakistan also was an unlikely contender because of star thrower Arshad Nadeem, who scored impressively in group B last week. He also mentioned that he looks up to Neeraj as his 'hero', and shared the prestigious medal stage with him during Asian Games. © Reuters What makes this gold special, apart from the obvious reasons, is the fact that this is the first gold medal in athletics for India after almost 100 years. While India started slow this Olympics, with a lot of narrowly missed medals, Neeraj's gold will surely give the entire country the much needed reason to truly rejoice, and feel like a champion. Tokyo Olympics: All eyes on Pakistan?s Arshad Nadeem in javelin throw final today
ADMIN posted a blog entry in Geo News Blog
?We pray for #ArshadNadeem's podium finish in the finals of the Men's Javelins Throw," says the PM Office -
Olympic debutante Neeraj Chopra stunned everyone when he topped his group in the Javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. This meant that he earned direct qualification for the finals. And we’re excited! Here are 3 reasons why Neeraj Chopra might go all the way and come back home with a gold medal: 1. Breaking Limits © Reuters To qualify for the finals, all javelin throwers had to cross the qualifying mark of 83.50m. Neeraj obliterated that with his 86.65-meter throw, separating him from the rest of the pack from the get-go. Aged only 23, Neeraj’s consistency belies his years. 2. Endorsed By The Top Dog © Reuters Kept out of the games this year due to an unfortunate back injury, Thomas Rohler, winner of the Javelin Throw event from the 2016 Olympics, has hedged his bets on Neeraj Chopra. Rohler says, "Neeraj’s at an age and has the experience to be ready to win an Olympic medal. That’s what I expect. I cross my fingers for him. He’s a good athlete. He’s a good man throwing a javelin. I’d love to see him battling for a medal,” He added, "We know that the Olympic Games are special and there’s always surprises to come. There will be surprises from people no one expects anything from and also from those people who are expected to win. We have seen that in the World Championships in 2019. There will be someone who will medal that we don’t expect. I like seeing that Keshorn Walcott is also back. We’ve seen him throwing well in Finland, and he’s someone who is a good competitor.” Even the best are anticipating his victory, so there’s got to be something special about Neeraj Chopra. 3. Best Of The Best © Reuters Germany’s world leader, Johannes Vetter flustered initially before finally saving face with an 85.64m throw in his last attempt. Poland’s Marcin Krukowski mustered up a measly 74.65m throw in comparison. Surprisingly, even Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott had to settle for a 79.33m throw. The Trinidadian javelin thrower was previously the winner at the 2012 London Olympics. At a moment where several big names are underperforming, Neeraj has been an unstoppable force. Additionally, there’s also the India-Pakistan angle at play in the Olympic finals as Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem has also qualified with an effort of 85.16m. It's a maiden feat for a Pakistani athlete to enter the Olympic finals in athletics. Do you think our Javelin Master has it in him to win gold? Do tune in to the finals, and show your support for Neeraj Chopra on social media! View the full article
