  1. The Indian borders are impenetrable and solid because of the mighty soldiers who hold down the fort at times, never sparing a thought about themselves. These warriors in their camo-print armours put on such a display of bravado and selflessness that is matched only by a few others. These superheroes set up their homes in the most remote areas of the country, or places with adverse climatic conditions, as they mark their territories and stand guard over it, should its borders be threatened. (c) BCCL Yet, not once do they complain about their working conditions or the constant onslaught of heat, rain and cold that they have to live through over a lifetime of their service for the nation and its people. For instance, ANI reported a few hours ago that BSF jawans at the International Border are reeling under the heat wave that has struck the area. As the mercury rises with every passing day, the resolve these jawans hold in their heart only grows stronger. (c) ANI Talking about the heat, and how they survive through hours under the relentless sun, a jawan told the news agency, "People in the country are sleeping with an assurance that we are at the border. So, whatever may be the weather condition we are always on the alert." (c) ANI (c) ANI Such are these men of might, who go beyond their call of duty every single day to ensure all of us can enjoy the peace and security that they bring into our lives, at the cost of theirs. No amount of danger, painful weather conditions or threat can deter these heroes, and we are grateful every day for their selflessness and bravery.
  2. Jammu voted yesterday, in its first phase of the Lok Sabha elections and while it all went smoothly, there was more to casting votes in that space. There was unity and love amidst people while the elections were on and we know this because an 83-year-old woman by the name of Satya Devi came to cast her vote and the CRPF soldiers walked quietly with her, holding her hand while she was on her way to the ballots. As the elderly woman was preparing to step on the ramp, the CRPF jawan told her 'dheere dheere aaiye', making it a remarkably endearing moment in the history of Jammy casting votes. Watch the video here: CRPF women personnel help an elderly lady to enter the polling booth. Gandhinagar, Jammu. 3. The nation lost over 40 bravehearts last month, when a JeM suicide bomber rammed explosives-laden car into a CRPF bus in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. People haven't forgotten that terrorist attack, nor will they ever. Post Pulwama, people from across the world are coming together to wipe tears of the family members of the martyred jawans. © Reuters The country was painted red last month with blood, and now when the festival of colours is here, the CRPF has decided that there will be no 'official celebrations' of Holi this year in the force, to pay respect to the jawans martyred in Pulwama. CRPF Director General (DG) RR Bhatnagar, said this during an event to mark the 80th raising day of the force in Gurgaon. © Reuters Reportedly, the DG also said that in order to better equip the troops during a combat, they are obtaining advanced weapons and gadgets that include Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), light bullet proof jackets, rifles, ground penetrating radars and signal jammers gunshot locators. In fact, while paying tribute to the personnel who lost their lives, the CRPF chief also said that the force is creating a 'mobile app' to provide help to the families of martyred jawans.
  4. Akshay Kumar is currently gearing up for the release of 'Kesari', a movie that retells the story of 21 brave Sikh soldiers who fought agaainst 10,000 Afghan warriors in the Battle of Saragarhi. To promote the movie, Akshay Kumar was recently at 'The Kapil Sharma Show' along with Parineeti Chopra. This time, Kapil invited our brave CRPF jawans on his show, and together with Akshay they brought the whole house down and turned it into an unforgettable episode. One of the jawans even sang a romantic song for his wife as Akshay looked and smiled at the two. Kapil, Akshay and Parineeti even gave a salute to the jawans for their courage. Further, the camaraderie between Kapil and Akshay was so good and entertaining that the duo even promised to perform for the jawans at Siachen, which is considered to be the toughest army posting. 5. India was shaken to its core on February 14, 2019, when a JeM suicide bomber rammed his car into a CRPF bus and killed over 40 jawans, in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The whole nation mourned the loss and wept for the martyred jawans, but also came forward in large numbers to do whatever it takes to show that they stand strong with the jawans' families. © AP In another moving gesture, a 44-year-old blind scientist has now offered to donate Rs. 110 crores for the welfare of the martyred jawans' families. Murtaza A. Hamid, who hails from Kota and is currently based in Mumbai, has offered to give Rs. 110 crore from his taxable income to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Reportedly, Hamid has even sent an e-mail to PMO seeking an appointment with PM Modi for the same. © Instagram "The inspiration to help and support those who lay down their lives for our motherland should be in the blood of every citizen of the country," said Hamid, who is blind since birth. Hamid is currently working as a researcher and scientist in Mumbai. In fact, Hamid regrets that his innovation wasn't recognised timely by the government, else tragic incidents like Pulwama attack could have been averted. © BCCL According to a report in The Times of India, Hamid claims that he created 'Fuel Burn Radiation Technology' which helps to trace and locate any vehicle or object without GPS, camera or any other technical equipment. He forwarded the proposal to hand it over to the government and National Highways Authority of India free of cost, in 2016 but he got the approval in 2018. From celebrities to commoners, everyone has been raising funds for the Pulwama martyrs' families. Be it through Bharat Ke Veer, donating their salaries to cancelling their wedding reception to donate money; people have proved to be like a big family, who have each others' back. 6. Every time the Indian borders or the safety of its citizens are threatened, it is the men in green who stand in the way of trouble. Holding the fort with all their might and even putting their lives on the line to get it done. Yet there's no denying that their bravado and selflessness also makes them easy targets and puts them in harm's way, every time our foes wish to make a point (however unnecessary and futile). Jammu & Kashmir: Mortal remains of CRPF personnel who lost their lives in #PulwamaAttack yesterday, at CRPF camp in Budgam. pic.twitter.com/h4XoD5tC7o — ANI (@ANI) February 15, 2019 Yesterday's terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir's Pulwama, which is being called the biggest attack in the area since the Uri attack in 2016, is a proof of such a situation. Yesterday JeM terrorists targeted a CRPF procession in Jammu to Srinagar which comprised of over 70 vehicles and 2,547 personnel. The attack took away the life of 44 jawans and has left the country seething with anger and grief. © Twitter Targeting unsuspecting soldiers and attacking them when their defences are down is the biggest proof of cowardice that there is. Yet, even in death the jawans and their families continue to prove that they are the country's biggest pride. Even through their ultimate misery and loss, the families of the martyred jawans continue to take pride in the sacrifice their sons, husbands and brothers made for their motherland. However, it the need of the hour is to stand with the families of the martyred and share in the pain in grief. And since acknowledgement is the simplest way to start, let's begin with that. We are with them in this time of loss.
  7. Yesterday, on February 14, the nation was painted red, not in the colour of love but with blood as nearly 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel were martyred in one of the worst terrorist attacks ever in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. AP When half the nation was celebrating the day of love with their partners, there were many families who were mourning the death of their loved ones. Cheers of laughter and joy soon turned into tears and cries of the families of jawans, who were mercilessly attacked when they were travelling in a CRPF bus that was blown up using explosives. Reportedly, a suicide bomber named Adil Ahmad Dar alias 'Waqas Commando' crashed his SUV, laden with more than 350kgs of explosives, into the bus that was part of a 70-vehicle convoy on its way to Pulwama. Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for this terror attack. AP The attack has left the families devastated and the nation in shock. From prominent personalities to commoners, everyone is filled with rage and are now voicing their anger on social media. From Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan, 'Uri' actor Vicky Kaushal to Taapsee Pannu, Alia Bhatt and more, celebrities are standing strong with the families of martyred jawans as this cowardly and despicable act can't be forgotten easily. Numb beyond belief at the dastardly terror attack on #CRPF soldiers in #Pulwama. May God give peace to their souls, and strength to their grieving families. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery. We can't let this be forgotten. — Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) February 14, 2019 The Pulwama attack is despicable. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs. Heart goes out to our heroes saving our country who have to face an enemy who will hide and attack. — Varun Dhawan (@Varun_dvn) February 14, 2019 What a dark dark day.. Can't stop thinking of the mindless violence, evil hate & sinister politics that has killed 40 working class bravehearts today.. Thinking of their bereaved families. May they find the strength to deal with this cruel tragedy. Prayers. #PulawamaTerrorAttack https://t.co/CAvjFIL2jt — Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) February 14, 2019 Heartbreaking & devastatingly shocking. To resort to such measures & kill people. My heart is with the families of our jawans... my deepest condolences ðð» #PulawamaTerrorAttack — Dia Mirza (@deespeak) February 14, 2019 Prime Minister Narendra Modi too condemned the attack and said that "the sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain." Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) February 14, 2019
  8. If you're crushing really hard on Yami Gautam then you must be in a place to praise her excellent performance in 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. The underrated actress did a phenomenal job in her role for the film and it was well appreciated as well. The film, on an autopilot has become the first film of the year to cross the 100-crore mark. © Twitter With some relatable and real performances by the cast, we're actually hoping they get due recognition for it. But what's interesting is the fact Yami has already been appreciated for her role as an intelligence officer, by the 'core' people, who should be appreciating her role--the jawans. The actress has been lauded for her portrayal of an intelligence officer by the BSF regiment in Amritsar, while she was in the city to promote her film. © Zee Studio While in Amritsar, the jawans felicitated her and praised her performance. If you've seen 'Uri: The Surgical Strike', you'd know the depth and the dedication both the characters, that of Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam display. Yami also received a token of appreciation from the senior officers of the regiment. "BSF is the first line of defense of our country and it gives me immense pride to have met the jawans in person. I am overwhelmed by their kind gesture." Yami said while receiving the token. She also added that the entire team has been receiving a lot of appreciation for the great content they've delivered, all across the country, especially from the armed forces and the others who serve the country. © Twitter 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on seven terrorist launch pads, across the Line of Control, on September 29, 2016, in a retaliation to terror attacks in the army camp of Uri. The film was a box office hit with everyone giving their best to the movie and towards the country's valour. Especially Yami Gautam, who's experiencing a new kind of josh now, we're guessing!
  9. For most of us, Republic Day has become just another holiday where we spend time with our friends and family members or just make good use of a national holiday. But, for our brave soldiers, it's an emotion that is far greater than anything else in the world. Today, a perfect example of this was showcased by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawans in Ladakh. Twitter/ ITBP The jawans, who not only put their lives on the line to protect us, also fight some of the worst weather conditions on a daily basis. Yet, nothing deters them from coming forward, and in this case, show how much they love their country. #ITBP personnel celebrating #RepublicDay2019 at 18K Ft and minus 30 degree Celsius somewhere in Laddakh.#Himveers#Himalayas#HappyRepublicDay2019 pic.twitter.com/JOOBobu5ZU — ITBP (@ITBP_official) January 26, 2019 At a height of 18,000 feet and not at 0 or minus 10, but minus 30 degrees; a group of 14 ITBP jawans hoisted the Indian flag high to celebrate the Republic Day. #लदà¥à¤¦à¤¾à¤ मà¥à¤ 18 हà¤à¤¾à¤° फà¥à¤ à¤à¥ à¤à¤à¤à¤¾à¤ पर हिमवà¥à¤°à¥à¤ नॠ-30 डिà¤à¥à¤°à¥ तापमान मà¥à¤ मनाया #à¤à¤£à¤¤à¤à¤¤à¥à¤°à¤¦à¤¿à¤µà¤¸ । #RepublicDayIndia #RDayWithAIR Video: @ITBP_official pic.twitter.com/l7DIEBhDdD — à¤à¤à¤¾à¤¶à¤µà¤¾à¤£à¥ समाà¤à¤¾à¤° (@AIRNewsHindi) January 26, 2019 While one jawan held the flag high with the clear sky in the backdrop, others stood behind him in a perfect line, in the backdrop of snow-clad mountains in Ladakh.
