  1. Jason Momoa and his beard almost share a relationship like The Rock and his muscles - you just can't imagine him without it. Be it Khal Drogo or Aquaman, that macho beard gave every character he played an inimitable edge, something fans used to obsess over, rightfully so. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Apr 9, 2019 at 10:11am PDT View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Jul 22, 2018 at 1:13pm PDT However, he just decided to shave off his beard. As sudden and weird as it might be for the fans, he did it for a reason, which is dedicated to a cleaner, greener environment. On an Instagram post, Momoa wrote: "Goodbye DROGO, AQUAMAN, DECLAN, BABA New YouTube episode please subscribe and share this video. LINK in BIO . 2. Robert Downey Jr is the coolest person in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much like Tony Stark. Well, RDJ is Tony and Tony is RDJ now, so it's not surprising. He's been here since the beginning, he has honestly made MCU what it is today and with 'Avengers: Endgame' being such a final movie for all the OG characters, he's probably very emotional and proud about it. He knows how much his fans love him and his character and that's probably why he's out there being so pure on his Instagram. The press tour for the movie is going on and he's still hellbent on entertaining everyone. Posting a video of himself dancing almost every day of the press tour, he really is proving he's the coolest. 3. Admit it, working overtime is never fun. Actually, it might be a little fun if it happens only once in a while, and we are adequately compensated for it too. But then, many would say it's too much of wishful thinking because obviously, such a thing does not really exist. As it gets more and more difficult for new-age employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance, owing to the ever-rising demands on their professional front, even a stray comment in encouragement of working overtime can be a pretty huge buzzkill. (c) Reuters Something similar happened very recently when China's richest man and one of the world's largest e-commerce companies Alibaba's founder Jack Ma spoke up in defence of the laborious overtime work culture in Chinese tech companies. What's even saddening is his belief that working overtime is nothing less than a “huge blessing” for young workers. All of this transpired during a speech that Jack Ma delivered to Alibaba employees encouraging the “996” work schedule, which basically refers to the 9 am to 9 pm daily work timings, for six days a week. (c) Reuters Insane, right? We agree! But if you are wondering where this logic stems from for the e-commerce magnate, read this, “I personally think that being able to work 996 is a huge blessing. Many companies and many people don't have the opportunity to work 996, if you don't work 996 when you are young, when can you ever work 996?” How about “never”, Mr Jack? Never at the cost of our physical and mental well-being at least. (c) Reuters But in his defence, Jack Ma thought the following excuse might be a valid justification. “In this world, everyone wants success, wants a nice life, wants to be respected. Let me ask everyone, if you don't put out more time and energy than others, how can you achieve the success you want?” We are all for working hard, and going that extra mile to get the job done to perfection, but what Jack Ma seems to have ignored in this entire monologue is that, there is a difference between working to achieve our dreams, and slogging to get to the nearest grave sooner. (c) Reuters Working overtime is by no means to be encouraged, especially at a time when millions around the world are struggling to maintain their mental well being, due to constant pressure and stress at work. Aspiring for a nice life might mean surviving through some sleepless nights along the way, but that surely doesn't mean giving up the peace and very life in order to live it. So, thank you for the suggestion Mr Jack, but we think we'll pass.
  4. The trailer of this year's much-awaited film, 'Student Of The year 2', just dropped and is making everyone jealous with their exaggerated fanciful Saint Teresa college which looks bigger than London's Buckingham Palace. via GIPHY The first one marked the debut of three promising actors - Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra - who have come a long way. Varun and Alia are currently busy promoting their film 'Kalank'. This time around, the expectations are extremely high from the film and the 'Batch of 2019'. via GIPHY Well, at least they have successfully managed to retain one thing from the first movie - 'SOTY 2' is as exaggerated and larger than life as the first one. Seriously, who organises such extreme sports events? And which sporting event has a dance competition as one of the winning criteria? Dharma Productions Most parts of the trailer were owned by Tiger Shroff and his abs and his veins popping out of his arms. Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday too were a part of the trailer in their own 'blink and miss' ways. Dharma Productions Talking about the storyline, Tiger Shroff plays Rohan who has his heart set on the 'Dignity Cup', an inter-college sports championship. He is however expelled, so he joins another college to participate in the same competition to beat his rivals (Also, this is not a spoiler, it's there in the trailer). Amidst all of this, Tiger has to also deal with a complicated love triangle going on between him, Tara and Ananya. Tough life, I must say! Directed by Punit Malhotra, 'Student Of The Year 2' is releasing on May 10.
  5. Earlier this year, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul had found themselves in a troublesome situation after appearing on popular television show 'Koffee With Karan'. The sexist comments, mainly by Pandya, on the chat show had stirred up a massive controversy which eventually led to the suspensions of the two cricketers, pending an inquiry. While Hardik was majorly responsible (owing to his remarks about women) for the controversy, Rahul also paid the price of being there in the company of the Baroda cricketer. Though the investigation in their conduct on the show is still ongoing, the controversy has pretty much died down following the unconditional apologies from the two cricketers. But, it appears that the cricket fans are still hung on to it. On 10th April, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were looking to build on their triumph over Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season, when they visited the hallowed Wankhede stadium. A strong top-order batting performance was the recipe of their success at the PCA stadium and it, once again, allowed them to push the hosts on the backfoot early on. MUST WATCH : KL Rahul's majestic ton at Wankhede Full video here â¶ï¸â¶ï¸https://t.co/rCA01DMVxp #MIvKXIP pic.twitter.com/8zSt2Cg5pz — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 10, 2019 A 116-run opening stand between Rahul and Chris Gayle got Punjab to a flyer. While Gayle lost his wicket to Krunal Pandya after scoring a 36-ball 63, Rahul continued his carnage and remained unbeaten at 64-ball 100 - his maiden ton in the IPL. The KXIP opener was batting on 69 when Hardik came in to bowl the penultimate over - something that later became the talking point amongst fans on social media. The right-hander extended his arms beautifully and smashed the first ball over extra cover for a six. Hardik tried to outfox Rahul with a slower ball on the next delivery, but the batsman sent it over the in-field for a four. ð¯ð¤ð @klrahul11 #MIvKXIP pic.twitter.com/e21T74PecY — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 10, 2019 Put under pressure with early boundaries in the over, Hardik decided to use the short ball on the third delivery, but couldn't stop Rahul from hooking it over fine leg for another six. The fourth delivery, once again, went for a six as Rahul hammered the slower ball back over Hardik's head and over the ropes. Another six on the first and a couple on the fourth delivery of Jasprit Bumrah's final over saw Rahul notching up his first IPL hundred. While Rahul's heroics eventually went in vain as Mumbai defeated Punjab by three wickets, his bashing of Hardik (23 runs in 5 balls) surely got the fans excited on the social media. While some called it revenge for 'Koffee With Karan' scandal, others deemed it a befitting punishment for Hardik. 6. We finally have the first image of a black hole that was captured by astronomers located in a very distant galaxy. The black hole measures 40 billion km across and is three million times the size of our planet. It truly is monstrous in size, which is the main reason why Astronomers were able to capture the image. © NSF The black hole is 500 million trillion kilometres away. Yes, you read that right; millions of trillions of miles away. The image was captured by a network of eight radio telescopes spread across the world. The black hole was found in a galaxy called M8 and is bigger than our entire solar system. Prof Heino Falcke, of Radboud University in the Netherlands, said "It has a mass 6.5 billion times that of the Sun. And it is one of the heaviest black holes that we think exists. It is an absolute monster, the heavyweight champion of black holes in the Universe.” The image itself shows a bright ring of fire that surrounds a perfectly circular dark hole. The ring of fire is caused by a superheated gas falling into the hole. The light itself is brighter than all of the stars in our galaxy combined. © NASA- Black Hole This image is a final confirmation of a century old theory that surprised even Albert Einstein. The Event Horizon Telescope will let scientists test the predictions of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity around massive black holes that are in the centre of a galaxy. Project Scientist Dimitrios Psaltis said, "The predicted size and shape of the shadow theory match our observations remarkably well, increasing our confidence in this century-old theory.” The image is the first proper evidence that event horizons are real and not just a figment of our imagination. These images are important when scientists need to test general relativity, that basically governs the behaviour of gravity and large objects.
  7. 'Game of Thrones' is hands down one of the most popular TV series of recent times, and one simply cannot ignore the ardent fan following the show enjoys. From mind-boggling fan theories to crazy fans going out of their way to prove their loyalty, 'Game of Thrones' can boast of it all. © InstruMen However, much like it is the case with most fandoms, GOT fans have also proven their allegiance to the show time and again. Now with the eighth and final season fast approaching its premiere date on 15th April, the webscape is buzzing with excitement like never before. Amidst all this hubbub we stumbled upon IntruMen's capella version of the 'Game of Thrones' theme song, and boy does it sound more than nice! A group of six young men have gotten together and put instruments to rest while calling themselves 'InstruMen' and creating music that's more than pleasing to the ears. Comprising Arish Bhiwandiwala, Nathan Miles, Shaurya Singh, Aseem Trivedi, Akshar Oza and Dean Sequeira, InstruMen takes inspiration from myriad styles and genres such as Jazz, Hip-Hop to Classical, Reggae, RnB and even Indian Classical and Sufi. However, the inspiration to cover the GOT theme song dawned upon them while “we were at a practice session, in one of our breaks we were discussing what might happen in the finale season, and then it struck us that we absolutely have to cover the theme song of the show,” Dean Sequeira told MensXP. © InstruMen Without a doubt the guys are ardent GOT fans. Dean tells us, “All of us love GOT and we often have debates among ourselves as to who is the best character on the show. And well, needless to say, sometimes we forget that we're in the studio to practice and not to discuss GOT.” Even with their acapella rendition of the theme song, it's a mix of everything you expect, yet it's more. There is a freshness and upbeatness about it that is almost catchy. But alas, there is no way we can recreate what they have done! © InstruMen The response they have received so far on this video has been amazing, and Dean tells us that, “the amount of love and appreciation we have received since the video has dropped is incredible. We were absolutely stoked looking at the messages we were getting on our Instagram page and on our personal accounts.” We wish them the very best for their future projects and look forward to their creations.
  8. Karan Johar is as larger than life in terms of his outfits IRL as his movies, and that honestly is amazing. Everything he wears, right from his footwear to his accessories, are camera-worthy, and the fashion police thrives on them. He said it out loud that he legit prepares for his 'airport looks', and that shows. The latest thing he stepped out with that we're interested in? A transparent Louis Vuitton bag that has a prism aesthetic, and seems to be changing colour based on the angle it's viewed from. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani KJo is carrying the Keepall Ss19 Virgil Abloh Hologram Prism 50 Bandouliere 870230 Clear Canvas Travel Bag fom Louis Vuitton, and it honestly is one of the most unique travel bags you'll ever see. Coated with a holographic finish, the otherwise transparent bag has a unique rainbow coloured iridescence that makes it one of the most sought after pieces from Abloh's SS'19 collection. © Tradesy © Tradesy © Tradesy When it comes to the price, it costs a bomb, of course. The bag is worth 10,495 Dollars, which when converted to INR comes to around Rs 7,28,695. What we are more interested tbh, is the giant dark chocolate bar from Lindt he's carrying inside the bag. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani If this isn't 'packing goals', we don't know what is. 9. Robert Downey Jr loves being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he has never shied away from showing just that. He loves his character, he loves his costars and he just seems to love his life and his job so much. We all know how much fun he has with his Marvel co-stars off screen, we have the 'Science Bros' and of course the ongoing Twitter bromance with Chris Evans. 11. Yesterday, a little boy from Mizoram went viral for his simple act of kindness. In case you didn't know, the boy was cycling when he accidentally ran over his neighbour's chicken. He was so scared for the injured chicken that he rushed it to the nearest hospital and asked for help with whatever money he had. His simple act of kindness may not be something extraordinary, but the little kid is definitely a hero in his own right and his actions have taught us adults a huge lesson on humanity. The kid has been identified as 6-year-old Derek C Lalchhanhima from Sairang. In fact, Derek is now his school's hero too and was recently rewarded for his sweet gesture. Here's Derek proudly holding his 'Word of Appreciation' certificate, which he received at his School St. Pio, Sairang today. Reportedly, Derek came home with the chick that he had accidentally killed and did not understand that the chick is dead. He begged his parents, but when his parents told him to go himself, he did exactly that with whatever money he had i.e. Rs 10. The nurse couldn't stop from gushing over the little kid's innocence. Derek's innocent gesture has won everyone's heart and we hope more and more people can learn from this cute little 6-year-old.
  12. The trailer of Karan Johar's magnum opus project 'Kalank' dropped yesterday, and so did our jaws after we saw how the movie is basically an ode to some of the classic Bollywood movies. In case you missed it, you can watch the trailer here. Is it just me or you too felt like it was basically most of us copying our friend's assignment, and making subtle changes in it before submission? The trailer didn't give us anything that we haven't seen before. Especially this particular train scene from the movie. Oops! Sorry, we got confused. This one we meant. © Dharma Productions But, how else can one board a train, right? Well, this 'iconic' scene and a few more have now turned into internet's favourite meme and we are guilty of laughing at them. 13. Shah Rukh Khan is also known as King Khan, not only because he is a tremendously good actor and rules over the hearts of millions of film lovers, but also because he is a true gentleman. Fans love him and swear by his words of wisdom. They take his words to heart and often treat him as a mentor. © YouTube That should not come as a shock because SRK is a great orator with a capability of stirring people's hearts with mere words and leaving a great impact on their minds. SRK might have just used this superpower for a great cause and the result is heartwarming. Recently, as part of the Meer Foundation initiative, Shah Rukh met acid attack survivors before their corrective surgeries, however, that was not all. While interacting with these strong women (many of whom were also his fans), he also shared some personal insights on life and facing it head-on, that is absolutely inspiring! SRK told the women to stay strong and live with their heads held high. He further told them that as long as they believed that they wanted to make something of themselves in life, the rest will fall in place. © Twitter He also underlined the importance of working for ourselves and being independent and said, “It's important for each one of us to make sure that we work for ourselves. We should do our own work without depending on another individual. Even if it's a small job, we should be fending for ourselves. And at the end of the day, we must be independent.” © YouTube The video from this meeting has since been widely circulated on social media and it's like a breath of fresh air to see these wonderful women smiling and giggling post their interaction with SRK. © YouTube Perhaps he doesn't know it, but we are sure that through this interaction SRK has touched many lives, and given many other survivors hope for the future. Shah Rukh Khan started the Meer foundation in 2017 and it focuses on improving the lives of acid-attack survivors.
  14. It has been a couple of years since Apple has launched a 'small' iPhone. The last small and compact phone from the company was the iPhone SE that came out all the way back in 2016. Well, if the new report is something to go by, then it looks like Apple might finally launch a compact iPhone next year. According to DigiTimes, Apple is readying new iPhones for 2020 with display sizes - 5.43-inch, 6.06-inch, and 6.67-inch. Looks like the company will be sourcing the displays from Samsung or LG. The current lineup, in case you're wondering, has display sizes of 5.8-inch (iPhone XS), 6.1-inch (iPhone XR), and 6.5-inch (iPhone XS Max). So, if it turns out to be true, Apple will reduce the size of the smallest model while increasing the size of the biggest model. © Unsplash We're not entirely sure as to what Apple is planning to call these new iPhones, though. But if we were to guess, then the smallest iPhone would be called iPhone SE2, which has been passing the rumour mill for quite some time now. But again, that raises questions about the names of other iPhones, so your guess is as good as ours, really.
  15. One of the newest Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members, who also happened to be one of the better batters for the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, found himself in a Twitter battle against Omar Abdullah, when the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir made a rather controversial statement hinting that the state had bargained for a separate Prime Minister and President and are hopeful to get them. Ever since the comments were made, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed them without taking Abdullah's name. "He says we will take the clock back and replicate the situation before 1953 and there will be two Prime Ministers in India, Kashmir will have its separate PM,” the Prime Minister said at a Hyderabad rally. “(The Congress) must answer how its ally can say such a thing." Standing in full support with the leader of his party, Gambhir decided to join the war of words this afternoon. He tweeted: "Omar Abdullah wants a separate PM for J&K and I want to walk on oceans! Omar Abdullah wants a separate PM for J&K and I want pigs to fly! More than a separate PM Omar Abdullah needs some sleep followed by a strong coffee! If he still doesn't understand then a green Pakistani passport." @OmarAbdullah wants a separate PM for J&K & I want to walk on oceans! @OmarAbdullah wants a separate PM for J&K & I want pigs to fly! More than a separate PM @OmarAbdullah needs some sleep followed by a strong coffee! If he still doesn't understand then a green Pakistani passport — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) April 2, 2019 Abdullah was quick to respond to the tweet: "Gautam, I never played much cricket because I knew I wasn't very good at it. You don't know very much about J&K, it's history or the role of @jknc_ in shaping that history yet you insist on displaying that ignorance for all to see. Better clean ur reading glasses.” Never mind your lack of cricketing prowess but Kashmiris and our country would have been well served if you knew a thing or two about selfless governance. By the way history is always consistent but perspectives are subjective. Better clean ur reading glasses. — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) April 2, 2019 Regardless of who wins this battle of words, the rivalry has surely given enough fodder for people on Twitter to make their opinions public: @GautamGambhir - What is so special about Kashmiris that you have to be pampered and protected like some rare endangered species? 16. While relationships are taking a progressive turn every passing day, there are still people pointing fingers at some couples who've found their comfortable footing in one another. Not only is this hypocrisy but it's also an amalgamation of a complete violation of the right to privacy. What am I talking about? Well, Bollywood is setting their fair share of examples by dating people who're way younger or older and while that's endearing and very acceptable in society, many people criticise age difference like it's something illegal. © Instagram But to be fair, dating older women or younger men is a definite progression towards stable relationships as they're emotionally more grounded and binding and there's a maturity to them which makes them whole. So, in lieu of that, I am going to list 6 Bollywood relationships which have been mighty successful, even with a vast age difference lurking in between: (1) Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas © Instagram The desi-videshi pair met through common friends some time back and they just tied the knot 3 months ago. While Priyanka is 35 and Nick 25, they cherish and celebrate the 10-year age gap between them, even though they've been trolled for it tremendously in the past. But that hasn't deterred the couple's love or social media appreciation for one another in any way and we love to see them together, every now and then! (2) Sushmita Sen & Rohman Shawl © Instagram It feels like Rohman was a breath of fresh air in Sush's life. The actress seems very happy and content with her life right now and she has someone super supportive to share it with her. Rohman and Shushmita share a 16-year age gap, but they definitely do complete each other, in every way. From him getting along well with her daughters, to her supporting him at his fashion shows, to them making work-out home videos together, it really seems like bringing up the age gap they share is absolutely redundant! (3) Soha Ali Khan & Kunal Kemmu © Instagram The starlit princess and the boy-next-door fell in love with each other on the sets of 'Dhoondte Reh Jaoge' and the rest is, of course, history! After a long live-in relationship, the couple tied the knot in 2015, despite the fact that Kunal is 5 years younger than Soha. They have a beautiful daughter named Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and they really couldn't be happier. (4) Preity Zinta & Gene Goodenough © Instagram Although the age gap isn't much between the two, it is still frowned upon by many people who love to criticise relentlessly. But that doesn't bother Preity, who tied the knot with Gene in LA and they've been living happily since. I guess he's 'Goodenough' for her! (5) Bipasha Basu & Karan Singh Grover © Instagram The two had issues getting married as Bips' mom was against her marrying someone who is 4 years younger than her. But that didn't stop the happy couple from tying the knot and living happily since. They believe in unhampered PDA and never shy away from a lot of social media love! (6) Neha Dhupia & Angad Bedi © Instagram When Neha married Angad, she was trolled on social media for marrying someone two years younger than her but they also took many by surprise when they decided to announce their wedding on Instagram, and they looked mighty happy together. Best friends before, married now, the couple has had quite an astounding journey and their age gap definitely has nothing to do with it! So, if Bollywood can set a keen example of older women dating younger men, it's time you stop frowning upon it too and look for someone who truly makes you happy; older or younger, who cares, right?
  17. Of all the people who have jumped on the fashion roller-coaster this year and managed to hang on, Aparshakti Khurana perhaps is the one person who seems to have got the grip the strongest. From rocking the most unusual accessories to pulling off rare combinations, this man has got it all right, every time he tried to experiment with fashion. Keeping the record steady, he pulled off one more out-of-the-box ensemble, and this time, an elite, super high fashion brand came together with a traditional, desi staple. © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana Aparshakti just wore an exquisite jacket by Alexander McQueen, that has a fiery orange pattern on a black base. However, what took it to a whole new level was what he paired it with. Take a look. © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana He went ahead and unapologetically paired the statement jacket with a perfectly draped desi black dhoti. Who could even come up with it? (Well that question was hypothetical because stylist Jay Samuel did, and how.) © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana What we love about the look is that it's a perfect melange of Indian and western aesthetics - two very distinctive styles that managed to co-exist here without having to clash. That bowtie and the leather brogue-jootis are everything! © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana Talking about unusual sartorial combinations, this one definitely takes the cake, at least from whatever we have seen this year. Bravo, Aparshakti, for bringing the dhoti back, the right way.
  18. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fold last month and since then, the smartphone has been shown off by the South Korean company in various videos. A new video was recently shared by Samsung that shows off the phone undergoing stressful durability tests when it comes to folding. The folding test reveals that the Galaxy Fold is capable of withstanding over 2 lakh folds which roughly translates to five years of usage if you fold/unfold 100 times a day. The Galaxy Fold will be coming to India later this year as confirmed by DJ Koh at the Galaxy S10's launch event. The Galaxy Fold has a 4.6-inch single folding AMOLED display and can be turned into a tablet with a screen size of 7.3-inches. The outer 21:9 screen has a resolution of 840x1960 and the unfolded screen has a resolution of 1,536 x 2,152. The video shows the device being folded and unfolded numerous times and took about a full week to complete the test. The test was conducted to check the durability of the hinge in the smartphone. Previous reports have suggested that Galaxy Fold has a noticeable grease in the display which was not visible in this particular video. In other specifications, the Galaxy Gold has six total cameras, three at the back, two inside and one at the front. The triple camera set up at the back has a 12-MP wide-angle camera, a 12-MP telephoto camera and a 16-MP ultra-wide camera. Inside, the Galaxy Fold has a 10-MP selfie camera and an 8-MP depth camera whereas the single outer selfie camera a has the 10-MP sensor. © Youtube_Samsung The Galaxy Fold does work seamlessly with Android apps when folding and unfolding the device while developers have also been asked to make minor changes to take advantage of the multi-window feature. Currently, the Galaxy Fold is expected to sell in international markets for $1980 and Indian pricing and availability has not been revealed yet.
  19. If you're not living under a rock, you must have known that this video starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor is burning up the trends list. And why would it not? Their chemistry and rapport teleport us to their best on-screen performances and we realise it hasn't changed one bit since. Asian Paints has launched a national campaign for Royale Health Shield with the two powerhouse actors. It is a revolutionary paint with anti-bacterial technology and its Silver Ion Technology is highly recommended by the Indian Medical Association. And not just that, it gives the best finish that your walls can have. The video shows RK renovating his home and asking Deepika for her advice. Initially, the two are seen talking on the phone and their conversation is quite cute. But it's the latter part of the video which really got us all excited. After the phone conversation, Ranbir and Deepika come face-to-face and that's when their sizzling chemistry takes over. The widely shared video is being loved by all! Tell us what you think about it?
  20. In what was considered to be one of the most controversial tri-series of 2018, the Nidahas Trophy between India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka saw a rare show of skills, patience and explosive batting when Indian wicket keeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik took control of the final, deflated the Bangladeshi bowling line-up and won the trophy for the Men in Blue exactly one year ago, today. Returning to the top roster after a long gap, the tri-series was more of a test for the then 32-year-old, a question of whether he's still got what it takes to be a part of the best cricket team in the world. While India managed to make it to the final of the series without requiring a lot of help from the righty, skipper Rohit Sharma (https://www.mensxp.com/topic/rohit-sharma.html) and the squad demanded a miracle of an innings by him to be able to win it all, late in the game. When Karthik entered the field after Manish Pandey's dismissal, India required to score 34 runs off the last two overs. The need for Karthik to hit big shots was of utmost importance as his co-batsman Vijay Shankar was struggling to connect the deliveries with his bat. Karthik, however, had different plans altogether. Stepping on the batting crease in the 19th over, he scored 22 runs off Rubel Hossain's deliveries while also sending the last ball for a maximum to bring the trophy to India. "Really happy to come out of this performance. Really happy for the team. We've played really well in this tournament and to not win the final would have been unfortunate. It was not that easy to bat there,” said a modest Dinesh Karthik after the game who was also named the Man of the Match for his short yet impactful innings.
  21. When it comes to underrated powerhouse performers, Aparshakti Khurana is perhaps the leader of the pack. Right from 'Dangal' to 'Stree', he has done total justice to every role he played, and that perhaps is an understatement. Now, everyone knows that the boys of the Khurana Khandaan can act, however, the fact that they are also the most fashion-forward, is definitely noteworthy. Aparshakti just gave us all another reminder of the fact by walking the ramp as a 'Modern Maharaja'. Viral Bhayani The Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week just got over, and Aparshakti walked the ramp as a showstopper for designer Rohit Kamra. © Viral Bhayani The statement white sherwani with the bright coral red buttons make for an aesthetic that is unabashedly royal, while being modern and unusual at the same time. © Viral Bhayani We love the understated Khaki-beige trousers along with the super stylish leather Jooti-Brogue mix. © Viral Bhayani When it comes to accessories, the basic red pocket square suffices, but the bold eyewear is giving an edgy futuristic vibe to the outfit, which brings out an amazing contrast in the ensemble, given its traditional ethnic roots. © Viral Bhayani All we can say is, we're here for it. Bravo, Aparshakti!
  22. Coldplay's Chris Martin not only brought the whole house down with his rocking performance at Akash & Shloka's pre-wedding bash, but he also spent most of his time chilling out with Bollywood celebrities in Switzerland and thanks to Gauri Khan, we got a glimpse of the same. Gauri recently posted a picture on her social media, where she is seen posing with Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Chris Martin, and Natasha Poonawala. She wrote the caption, "A huddle with Chris Martin." View this post on Instagram Sparkling in @falgunishanepeacockindia .. ððð A post shared by Gauri Khan (@gaurikhan) on Mar 10, 2019 at 12:04am PST While people are talking about how great everyone, especially Bollywood's King Khan is looking in the picture; we can't help but look past the outfits of the ladies. Why does it look like Alia, Gauri and Natasha are wearing 'aluminium foil' coats? I am sure desi moms need answers to this style statement. The celebrities may be living their fan moment with Chris Martin, but he seems to be in awe of Shah Rukh Khan and recently even gave a shout out to the actor and wrote, "Shah Rukh Khan forever."
  23. From the looks of it, 'Made In Heaven' is about two wedding planners, Tara Khanna (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan Mehra (Arjun Mathur) and the shenanigans that come with planning a big fat Indian wedding. But that's just the surface of it all. MIH is just as much about everything else Bollywood has been brushing under the carpet all these years. The choice between aspiration and self respect, the price you pay for freedom and what it really takes to stand up for yourself – MIH is basically Bollywood growing up. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Prashant Nair, the show is spread across 9 riveting episodes, each following the protagonists as they sign up for a new wedding, each pulling you deeper and deeper into their personal lives, making you feel their darkest truths so convincingly, you're reminded of your own. © Amazon Prime This isn't your typical 'rich people dealing with rich people problems' narrative. The characters are polished (well, most of them) but the storytelling is as raw and unadulterated as it gets – to the point that it makes you uncomfortable with its unabashed reality. Even though there are a myriad of new characters introduced in every episode, the prolific writing makes them all stand out well. They're not just distinct from each other, they're too damn real, be it the starry-eyed Jazz who fancies everything rich or the already rich Adil who's unapologetic about having an extra marital affair. These are people we know, the people we see, the people we are - in all their glory and all their flaws. © Amazon Prime SPOILERS AHEAD: At one of the weddings, the father of the bride is caught molesting a 'mehendiwali'. The bride offers her Rs 2 lakh as a compensation. Just when you think the show would make a strong point against it, “5 lakh” the mehendiwali blurts out nervously. And that's the kind of bold this show is. Bold not visually, but because they raise uncomfortable conversations that happen around us all the time but are never acknowledged. Can money really buy everything? How far would you go to live a life you've always aspired for? How sacred are marriages really anyway? © Amazon Prime The show not just normalizes relevant subjects like mental health, sexual assault and homosexuality but goes one step ahead in their representation. For once, a gay character isn't reduced to an effeminate caricature used as a device to evoke humour. The gay community is represented as is. Even when the show raises an important point about the criminalization of homosexuality, it does so without seeking sympathy or preaching. There's no deliberate attempt to make Karan's homosexuality a plot twist or use it to titillate the audiences. Gay people are treated just like their straight folks on the show – as people. Karan, one of the two protagonists, is a man who's sure of his sexuality and very much in touch with his sexual desires. Karan's sexuality isn't what the show is about, it's just one of the many parts that make him who he is – and that's normalization in its truest sense. It's not that Bollywood hasn't seen films on this subject before. But MIH gets spot on in the nuanced depiction of how homophobia goes deeper than shame – it sometimes makes you do things that you regret for the rest of your life. © Amazon Prime What the show also gets right is the cast. Each and every actor on the show, however much small their screen presence may be, is splendid. Arjun Mathur's Karan is probably one of the finest portrayals of a gay character ever in Bollywood. Arjun has pushed the envelope and how! His vulnerability moves you to tears. Sobhita as Tara shines as the lower middle class girl who's crossed over to the other side and now, can't decide who she identifies as anymore. Even with all her flaws, she makes you root for her like nobody else. Jim Sarbh is a revelation as Adil. He's so effortless and real, you're convinced of his dilemma even without him having to spell it out for you. Shashank Arora and Kalki Koechlin also do complete justice to the characters they play. Shivani Raghuvanshi as Jazz is a treat to watch. Hers is probably of the most well-written characters and her performance adds several more layers to the writing. The cast also boasts of some brilliant actors like Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, Deepti Naval, Vinay Pathak, Neena Gupta, Vijay Raaz, and Vikrant Massey who leave a mark even in the little screen time that they get. © Amazon Prime 'Made In Heaven' is easily one of the best shows ever made in India. You've got to watch it to know what Bollywood has been missing out on all these years. It's a master class in screenwriting for the Indian film industry. Thank you for this, Zoya Akhtar!
  24. It's been a while Sanjay Dutt has been MIA from the big screen (unless you count his brief appearance in his own biography 'Sanju' during the end credits). However, he's all set to return with a bang with 'Kalank' - probably the biggest multi-starrer movie this year has to offer. The teaser just launched today, and as excited as we are for it to release, Sanjay Dutt's all-black ensemble had our attention in a heartbeat. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani We love the elaborately textured sherwani paired with the super relaxed patialas. The fact that he almost never steps out like this, makes it all the more special. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani We are digging the salt and pepper (well, more of salt tbh) beard game. His buzz cut is making him look like the ultimate new age 'Khalnayak' that we all deserve. © Viral Bhayani When it comes to accessories, the black glasses and the gold sherwani buttons spell 'classy' like nothing else, and they do complete justice to the intense vibe. © Viral Bhayani All we can say is, we can't wait to see him on the big screen.
  25. Life is too short to give in to the whims and negativity that pervades the virtual space today. Trolls can be found lurking in abundance at every click of the mouse and turn people's lives into a living hell with their unsolicited hate comments and opinions. It doesn't take much for online trolls to attack unsuspecting people on social media platforms, and they don't spare the individual on the other side of the illuminated screen, whether that is a man, woman or child, or even a celebrity for that matter. The only thing a troll knows when they set out to troll the shit out of an individual is this wrong belief that they somehow have the authority and upper hand to spew hate and negativity directed at an individual. © Pinterest All of which may or may not have come from any personal impact or motivation, these trolls go about brandishing their sharp words and wound people. Though majority of people who get trolled choose to “stay mum and ignore” such nuisances, every once in a while we also come across those who step up and give the trolls a taste of their own medicine. © Twitter Recently, India Today released a preview of its latest episode of 'Jab We Met' on Twitter featuring host Rahul Kanwal and guest Ananya Birla, the heiress of the Aditya Birla Group and daughter of Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. The short video showed Ananya, a UK club level footballer in a football faceoff showing off her skills. It's a football showdown between @ananya_birla & @rahulkanwal this weekend on #JabWeMet. Ananya is also a UK club level footballer and has given a whole new meaning to the word multi-talented. Watch the special episode tonight at 9:30 only on India Today TV. pic.twitter.com/ihKWOaqGEu — India Today (@IndiaToday) March 9, 2019 However, a Twitter user decided to take a dig at Ananya following the launch of the episode preview, by showing disregard for all of Ananya's personal merits and reducing her and her achievements to her father's legacy and wealth. Reporter reporting on millionaires daughter — GurpreetSgill (@gurpreetgill) March 10, 2019 The user left a comment stating “reporter reporting on millionaires daughter”. This didn't go with Ananya and instead of ignoring it she called out her troll and gave him a piece of her mind, by not only pointing out that every person has their individual merits to show for, but also that he is wrong in calling her father a “millionaire” since he is actually a billionaire. So? I'm human too ð we achieve things on our own esteem too and we must share that. And just btw, my dad is a billionaire not a millionaire. ðð¤ sorry not sorry âð½ https://t.co/YtX4YM05Rm — Ananya Birla (@ananya_birla) March 10, 2019 We think Ananya had the perfect response for her troll and we sure need more of such approaches when dealing with trolls who have nothing more to do with their lives than drop baseless opinions everywhere they go.
