  1. Every year, we see some sort of advancement in the display tech. From smartphones to TVs, there's a lot happening in the display space and we can't wait to see what comes our way in the future. In the meantime, there's a company called Mojo Vision, that's showcasing what it believes in the future of display tech. A smart contact lens that acts as a display. Yes, you read that right. So, Mojo Vision showcased a single lens that's embedded with some circuits with a tiny dot in the center. © Mojo Vision Mojo Vision is essentially making a smart contact lens that'll act as a display. Obviously, the tech is nowhere close to being ready, which is why we said it's the "future of display". At CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this year, Mojo Vision was showing lens with some sort of text displayed in a loop. The company says there is a ton of text info that can be displayed. You can see things like time, date, health data, heart rate, and more. You can also read messages from your friends. It sounds very similar to the smart glasses, but except in this case, it's a lens. Besides, it also says they're still working to make smart contact lens a true solution. They want the product to be so good that it's ready to enter the market as something that people can buy and wear it on a daily basis. That makes sense, but we're not entirely sure if/ when that'll happen. © Mojo Vision However, imagine a world in which you're wearing just a contact lens to consume the media. No additional devices required whatsoever. Heck, you don't even need a smartphone or a pocket device. It could be as simple as talking to a digital assistant and getting things projected on the lens. It's certainly the kind of cyberpunk world we want to live in, but it could be many years away from now. Source: WIRED View the full article
  2. Every fashion label longs for that one genius that would set the tone that their legacy takes. For Chanel and Fendi, it was the legendary mastermind, Karl Lagerfield. For Dolce & Gabbana, it was Stefano Gabbana. For YSL, it was Tom Ford. And it seems for the upcoming decade at least, it will be Alessandro Michele for Gucci. © Reuters Having spent a better part of the decade with Gucci in some role or the other, Alessandro's vision to take Gucci towards an environment that is even more inclusive of diversity and varying creativity, has resulted in some rather spectacular moments, with the gender-fluid or gender-neutral path that they have elected to go for, being one of them. However, it hasn't been a completely smooth sailing for them. © Reuters It's been five years since Alessandro took the helm of the Italian luxury brand. Yes, a few guffaws and quite a few faux pas were made. Remember, the controversial sweater, the one with a literal monkey face, that Gucci put up? Or the fact that some of their pieces were inspired by straight jackets, in 2019, a year that saw a very fervourous conversation around mental health, especially considering how Todd Phillips' Joker, released just a month after their guffaw, dealt with? © Reuters All said and done, if there has been one thing that the Florentine ateliers of Gucci have pushed out time and again, it is perspective. Gender fluid or androgynous fashion has been a theme that many fashion houses have dabbled with. In fact, ever since Alessandro took over Gucci, back in 2015, Gucci has often showcased most of their collections in fashion shows, by using cross-dressing as a statement-making tool. Case in point would be their Fall-Winter collection back in 2015. The collection, even though it dealt with a subject that was considered much more tabooed, was well thought out and indeed tastefully done. The pieces that were shown, were indeed androgynous and seemed to push the proverbial envelope. © Reuters Cut to 2020, and we see a remarked difference in the approach. Individually, the pieces that were showcased were spectacular and indeed statement pieces unto themselves, something that people expect from Gucci and Alessandro at this point. What did come across as a little jarring would be the manner in which they were showcased. What was disconcerting was the fact that there were instances where some of the ensembles seemed as if they had nothing to do with androgynous fashion, or gender-fluid fashion for that matter, but were an attempt to create a spectacle. © Gucci © Gucci © Gucci © Gucci No wonder post the Milan Show, people were genuinely left wondering if 'androgynous fashion' and 'gender-fluid' fashion have been reduced to fancy labels to stay woke? © Gucci The sad truth is, toxic masculinity, and the perception of emasculation that all things feminine represent, is a problem, and nowhere else it is as clearly put on display as it has been in clothes and fashion, even though this dichotomy at times falls flat on its face in this sphere? As sad as it may be, there still is a long way to go for this duality to be put to rest, and this binary that we have in fashion will become redundant. Is it a surprise then, that almost all major fashion houses, be it Prada, Dior, and Burberry have massively amped up their product range, as well as the production of luxury menswear items? Luxury Menswear, after all, is an exponentially growing segment of the market. © Gucci With that said, whether Gucci is indeed being esoteric or is it just another example of a fashion label that is using these terms for coming across as woke, for the sake of being woke; Gucci's endeavours in the past have pushed the envelope continuously and tried to be the harbingers of a society that is androgynous. © Gucci Just take a look at the Lyst Index, a quarterly ranking of the 'It' brands and products in fashion, and you'll see that in the last eight quarters, Gucci has always been in the top three spots, and held the lead for a considerably long time. Since 2018, specifically, Gucci has been the hottest brand in fashion and was only deposed of its thrown by Off White & Balenciaga in the 3rd quarter of 2019. © Gucci We're sure that with this collection, Gucci surely is going to jump to the top yet again. Because whatever they seem to be doing, it seems they know what works for them. All said and done, the pieces they make, like we said, are indeed statement worthy. © Gucci So come what may, people, men and women alike, are still going to flock to Gucci stores all around the world, for their washed-out baggy denim jeans, and boxy wool suits, and their murses. People who can afford them, that is. Or at the very least, they will crop up in some form or the other in fast fashion outlets like Zara, or H&M, where they will be flying off of the shelves. © Gucci The question remains though, where does that leave Gucci in this scenario, where there is a clear distinction between the runway and the racks? Is it going to cater to the esoteric runway, the similar and familiarity that people expect from the rack, or does the answer lie somewhere in between? That remains to be seen. View the full article
  3. Disha Patani is not just a pretty face, she's got a head and heart too: Mohit SuriDisha Patani is one of the few faces in Bollywood known for their endless beauty. However, the 27-year-old Baaghi actor boasts of more than just a pretty face as her acting prowess is no less of a crowd-pleaser than her unmatched beauty. Nodding to that, is Indian director Mohit Suri who is working with the diva for his upcoming film Malang. Speaking about her skills, the filmmaker dished the details in an interview saying: “The whole world feels that Disha is just a pretty face and a hot body. She has something more in her. She’s got head and heart too.” "There is a perfect blend of glam quotient and bohemian vibe surrounding the character, both qualities which I could imagine Disha to compliment effortlessly. The response to Disha’s role has been great so far, I’m sure the audience will be able to connect with her even more after watching Malang,” he added.
  4. A 25-year-old Sanju Samson may have over 3000 T20 runs under his belt but just two international appearances. Having played his very first match for the Indian cricket team all the way back in 2015 in Harare, Zimbabwe, the cricketer got his second and seemingly last chance in the time to come, to don the blue kit on Friday, January 10, 2020. Sanju Samson finally gets to play his second T20I; his first came in 2015. Three changes for India, while Angelo Mathews and Lakshan Sandakan are back in Sri Lanka's XI https://t.co/vYyCfFtg1i #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/fU1zLKE02O — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 10, 2020 This atypically long gap between two international matches made Samson the owner of an unwarranted record for most T20Is missed between two appearances. By the looks of it, Samson's misfortunes as a Man in Blue continue to haunt him as the team has decided to drop him yet again ahead of the five T20Is to be played against New Zealand on foreign soil. India's T20I squad for NZ tour announced: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), KL Rahul, S Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, W Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur — BCCI (@BCCI) January 12, 2020 Emotions were flowing at full strength during the third and final T20I between India and Sri Lanka when Samson was promoted to bat one-down in the batting order by skipper Virat Kohli. There was a feeling of desperation in Samson's eyes when he approached the pitch. He wanted to show the world that he belonged on the ground, he wanted to show the world that he was good enough. The first ball that he faced, the Trivandrum favourite smashed the delivery for a maximum but the second delivery by Wanindu Hasaranga trapped him with a clear LBW and that was it for the glorious return of the wicket-keeper batsman. #INDvsSL Pic 1: Samson first ball six Pic 2: Samson out LBW pic.twitter.com/5qFRpDc8bz — Akshay Batra (@theakshaybatra) January 10, 2020 “With time and experience I have come to realise that I need to have a very clear head and a balanced state of mind,” Samson had told me back in November, 2019 but at that moment, his mind was pacing and his face gave away the frustration like a bad poker player. Was this how his international career had to end? Will he be remembered as nothing but a tiny spec of dust in the vast history that Indian cricket boasts? “What was that cricketer's name who had a lot of potential but never made it big,” is this how the future generations were going to address the man? It's actually little unfair on Sanju Samson, he didn't do anything wrong. The only opportunity he got after 4 years in which he had to go from very first ball! They should've selected him for 5 long T20Is against New Zealand.#SanaWorldWide #SanjuSamson # pic.twitter.com/3kAyu48IXw — Rahul Nath (@Rntk____) January 12, 2020 Even though age is on his side and the fact that he will continue to earn a ton of money given his brilliance in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League, there is not a bigger honour for an athlete to represent their nation but by the looks of it, Samson might not receive that honour anytime soon. 5. Rajkummar Rao started out as a 'boy next door with unparalleled acting prowess', and though the acting bit has only been going up the charts, the 'boy-next-door' bit has been replaced by an edgy fashionista. He keeps us updated about his style shenanigans through his airport appearances. The latest instance was when he stepped out in an athleisure ensemble from Adidas, top to toe, and ended up giving Ranveer Singh a run for his money. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani Rajkummar's outfit was super mod-street, however, what attracted our attention was his footwear and accessories. He wore a pair of super colourful psychedelic sneakers, that completely made up for the lack of colour in his black and white outfit. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani When it comes to accessorization, he scored a massive sixer with his 'murse' worth INR 2.5L. For the uninitiated, 'murse' is slang for 'man purse' - just like the one from Louis Vuitton that Rajkummar has been carrying here. © Viral Bhayani We are in love with the sophisticated yet badass vibe that the outfit exudes, along with the black glasses and cap Rajkummar thoughtfully added to it. Perfect for flights, and even a date, tbh! © Viral Bhayani All we can say is that we're loving the fashion shenanigans of this new, ramp-ready Rajkummar Rao. View the full article
  6. Tuxedos are expensive - not just in terms of money, but also towards the environment, considering how often, they require a lot of effort and exquisite materials to be made. With the award season just beginning to heat up, we can easily expect celebrities to walk down the red carpet in a number of exquisite and spectacular tuxedos and suits. © Reuters Well, it turns out, a lot of celebrities, barring Joaquin Phoenix. The actor who perhaps gave us the most nuanced and menacing portrayal of Batman's archnemesis, in Todd Phillip's Joker, whose endearing portrayal of Arther Fleck, in a way, redefined how we see antiheroes in films, has decided to stick to just one set of tuxedo. © Reuters This actually is a major break away from the tradition that celebrities have religiously followed of wearing something new and noteworthy for each award ceremony they attend. Stella McCartney, the British fashion designer who has designed and made the suit that Joaquin has chosen for this award season, put out a statement, which reveals why Joaquin has decided to take this route. © Reuters View this post on Instagram This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet and all of its creatures. He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud and honoured to join forces with you Joaquin, keep inspiring and keep shining your light x Stella⣠Joaquin Phoenix wins Best Actor at the 77th Golden Globe awards, wearing a custom #StellaMenswear Tuxedo.⣠. #JoaquinPhoenix⣠#StellaMcCartney⣠#GoldenGlobes #InStella A post shared by Stella McCartney (@stellamccartney) on Jan 6, 2020 at 3:09am PST “Joaquin chooses to make choices for the future of the planet and all of its creatures. Therefore, he has chosen to wear the same tux for the entire award season to reduce waste,” reads her Instagram post. Considering how most fashion houses are moving towards sustainability in a major way, this is actually a rather welcome step that honestly more celebrities should seriously consider. © Reuters Who would've thought that the planet would find a friend in the terminally unhinged Joker? © Warner Bros. Pictures As for the tuxedo itself, it is a rather classic affair. The silhouette is simplistic and yet, has a magnificent appeal. The shawled collar, with the single-breasted, single-button design, gives it a very contemporary appeal. © Instagram/goldenglobes With many critics having called Joaquin's portrayal of Arthur & the Joker, the best portrayal of DC's supervillain, ever, and considering the box office success that the film witnessed, it should be rather interesting to see how it fares during this awards season. 7. If you have been wanting to get a VR headset that doesnât make you look weird, Panasonic may have an answer for you. The Japanese company launched a new VR headset that has a very steampunk vibe and looks less bulky than any VR headset we have seen until now. image 2 Panasonic claims that it is âthe worldâs first HDR UHD virtual reality eyeglassesâ and are the most advanced glasses ever made. The design of the VR headset certainly reminds us of a pair of sunglasses and is very different from the usual VR headset we have seen so far. image 3 The company says that with the growth of 5G, it can expand the uses of the VR glasses. Panasonic said in a press release, âWith the anticipation of the forthcoming full-fledged commercial services of the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications system, a number of new services using VR glasses are expected to be offered, including for VR sports viewing and engaging virtual travel experiences.â Panasonicâs VR glasses sport a 1.3-inch OLED panel for each eye and can deliver a picture resolution of 2560 x 2560. The VR glasses need to be connected to a PC which means it does not have any on-board processing capabilities. image 1 The current VR glasses weigh around 300g which may sound heavier than usual but Panasonic is going to reduce the weight by half for the final product. Currently, the VR glasses are in the prototype stage which means there is no telling when the final product will be available to purchase. VR headsets are mostly used in virtual experiences and gaming. Currently, there are a plethora of games available on Steam that support VR and in 2020 we expect even more games to release with virtual reality support. Would you buy Panasonicâs less bulky VR glasses? What do you think of the design and how does it compare to VR headsets youâve seen before? Let us know in the comments. View the full article
  8. Akshay Kumar has had a super successful year in terms of Box Office collections. However, that is not his only achievement. He perhaps is the most talked about Bollywood celebrity when it comes to the current political climate of the country. He gets trolled often on social media, and he has never hit back (perhaps till now?). He just stepped out in a hoodie at the airport, that can double up as a perfect means to tell people to back off without actually having to utter a word. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Akshay is wearing a stylish AF graphic hoodie from Vetements. The hoodie has two sets of passive-aggressive - actually scratch that, *just* aggressive comebacks. The first one reads: "I'm not deaf, I'm just ignoring you", and the second one reads: "Don't you mess around with me!" © Viral Bhayani The hoodie also has 'Russia' written on it with the country's national flag, artistically placed on top of the text graphics. © Viral Bhayani When it comes to the rest of his outfit, he kept it simple with black joggers (one leg rolled up in the distinctive Akki-style), and a black cap. For some strange reason, he's wearing only one airpod. © Viral Bhayani Irrespective of what it means, we love the hoodie, and think Mr Khiladi is carrying it off really well. View the full article
  9. There's something about robots that just screams creepy to me. I've seen a lot of robots over the years, both in real-life and online while covering tech, but I've been sane with the idea of having robots around me, let alone own one. But at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year, one particular robot really caught my attention. I am talking about 'Jennie', a robot labrador that's been stealing hearts at on the show floor this year. No seriously, this one's not like other robots. Just look at her: via GIPHY Yes, she deserves all the attention, right? Is she a toy? Yeah, maybe you can say that, but I'd say she is just as real as fur buddy you have at home. You can see Jennie at a corner of CES this year, where's she's waiting with her father to meet all the visitors. Jennie is not just any other robot. She's made to interact with humans the same way a real dog would. She'll respond to being stroked and petted and she also wags her tail at being called, which is a sight to behold. © CNET Jennie is covered with synthetic fur and she's fitted with 50 sensors that can feel how softly or vigorously you're interacting with her. She has in-built microphones to listen to when someone's calling her. According to the folks over at Cnet, who got to spend some time with Jennie, she moves her head gently when she's patted. But if you give her more fuss, she'll get more excited and wag her tail. Jennie can also move her ears, eyebrows and nose, thanks to the built-in motors in her face. Stevens, who's the creator of the dog, says Jennie was designed to be a lap dog. She was never meant to be mobile, but she can cover a very small distance and do pretty much anything and everything else. She can even bark, whine, yip and howl. I am totally sold! In case you're interested in buying your very own Jennie, then you can do so by pre-ordering her for $440. She wasn't designed to be a toy. Instead, she was made for elders for therapy. But hey, you don't really need a reason to bring home such a cute fur buddy, do you? Source: CNET View the full article
  10. Dramatic, over-the-top and outlandish are the three words that best describe Ranveer Singh's persona and not to mention, his fashion sense. He has a reputation for his unpredictable style that raises the eyebrows of the people on the internet. Even then, he never fails to take us by storm with ensembles that we cannot possibly imagine wearing ourselves. © Viral Bhayani At the screening of Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak, he upped his debonair in a classic blue suit and just the next day, he took an unconventional route and sported something truly spine-chilling. He carved his niche of quirky fashion yet again wearing the creepiest jacket that we have seen till date. Don't believe us? Take a good look here! © Viral Bhayani © Farfetch Ranveer is wearing The Clockwork Orange Jacket by Undercover. This piece is emblazoned with an iconic scene from the film featuring a man's face with clamps that's holding his eyes open. A quick look at it and you would see how creepy it looks. The evocative story has been well put with this photographic print. This is freaky as hell! © Viral Bhayani As far as the construction and silhouette goes, the jacket features a classic collar with front button fastening and welt details with large pockets. The price of this jacket is as spine chilling as its design, It is available on many e-commerce websites and costs a whopping Rs. 1,03,800 according to Farfetch. Yes, let that sink in. © Viral Bhayani Coming to the other details of his outfit, he is wearing a grey jeans with extra zippers, patch design and long pockets. Add to that, his chunky sneakers by Adidas elevated his airport look even more. If this is not nightmarish, we don't know what is! Well done, Ranveer, it's terrifying and yet, we are totally diggin' it. View the full article
  11. When Marilyn Monroe suffered a slight wind related wardrobe malfunction on Lexington Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Street in New York City in 1954 while shooting a scene for the movie Seven Year Itch, she perhaps didn't know that she had become the subject of perhaps the most iconic picture in Hollywood. Everyone has seen that picture, glamorous to the core, and superbly impressive in its unplanned grandeur. © Biography A lot of actresses have tried to recreate this pose throughout the years, but perhaps the most noteworthy attempt has just taken place in a movie poster, with a man trying to recreate it. The man is Saif Ali Khan, and he tried it with a bath-robe of sorts, with someone holding a fan underneath - in a poetically chaotic domestic setting. © Instagram/Filmfare The poster is for the movie Jawaani Jaaneman, and Saif already has created quite a buzz with the previous poster for this movie, where he looks surprisingly young. © Instagram/Filmfare © Instagram/Filmfare He plays a dad in his forties in the film, and by the looks of it, it is going to be an entertaining masala potboiler. Let's just say we can't wait for it to come on the big screen. View the full article
  12. You know a movie is good when only one trailer gets everyone so excited about it. That's what's happening with A Quiet Place Part II right now. The first trailer for the sequel of the much-loved movie is finally out and it's, honestly, the perfect start to the year. The movie will have Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe reprising their roles from the first movie, with Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joining the cast for this one. What a great cast, the movie just cannot disappoint with such great actors. While not much is known about the movie as of now, here's what Paramount Pictures have released about the storyline - "Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path." Basically, in the first one, the family was being haunted by those weird creatures who responded to sound, but the stakes are getting higher with this one; the creatures are not the only threat now, and we can't wait to see how they'll survive all the horrors that are waiting for them now. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEMwSdne6UE As I mentioned before, people have gone crazy because of how exciting the trailer is. 13. When it comes to wearing outlandish outfits, Karan Johar gives many elite B-town stars a run for their money with his fashion game. For him, normcore is far from done as he has legit made a head-turning statement wearing some unexpected silhouettes. © Viral Bhayani It's not just Karan who is sartorially woke, but even his best friend and designer Manish Malhotra has shown up several times in offbeat fashion. They both have a maximalist approach when it comes to their wacky fashion sense and we cannot stop admiring them. Recently, the fashionable BFFs were spotted at the airport giving each other an intense competition with their outfits. Take a look here: © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Karan is seen wearing an oversized colour block jacket by Prada. The baggy silhouette with copious pockets has a street-style edge to it. It's a style from Spring/Summer 2020 runway that has sartorial eccentricity to it. © Viral Bhayani On the other hand, even Manish Malhotra made a massive statement with his military green puffer jacket. The way he has layered it with a quirky shawl by Gucci accentuated his look even more. © Viral Bhayani Coming to Karan Johar's sneakers, he dialled up his outfit by wearing chunky-soled trainers by Naked Wolfe. While these graffiti print sneakers have an outdoorsy edge, Manish, kept his sneaker game minimal with his uber-cool white sneakers by Louis Vuitton. As far as the sneakers are concerned, we have to say the designer took the cake! © Viral Bhayani Everything about both of their outfits is extra and yet this is the most fashionable thing we have seen on the internet today. It is merely impossible to decide who won the award since both of them have added their personal touch to their style, making unconventional look super cool. Well, that's your airport look sorted. Thanks to Karan and Manish for giving us some serious style lessons! View the full article
  14. Just like clockwork, Apple upgrades its iPad lineup every year. This year, the company is reportedly planning to launch upgrades to both its 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablets. These upgrades won't drop until the Spring of next year, but we already have our first look at the device. Yes, we already have 3D renders that gives us an idea as to what they'd look like. These renders were obtained by "Onleaks" which is a reliable source. That being said, we suggest you take all this info with a pinch of salt. © onloeaks-ipad As you can see, it looks like Apple is following a similar thin-bezel design of the iPad Pro 11 on both the models. It looks very similar from the front. But at the back, it now has three cameras. The module itself is very similar to the ones found on the iPhone 11 Pro. The fact that 2020 iPad Pro models will have a triple camera setup is a huge deal because they've only had a single camera module at the back up until now. We're not sure about the exact specs of the camera, but we think it'll be similar to the ones found on the iPhone 11 Pro models. And in case you don't know, Apple iPhone 11 Pro is said to have the best set of cameras on any smartphone, so it'll be awesome to see those cameras on the new iPad models. ©YouTube/ Marques Brownlee And as for the other hardware details, it looks like Apple will pack these devices with A13X chip. We all know that Apple's A series chips are really good, so we won't be surprised to see this thing flying through day-to-day tasks. Source: iGeeksBlog View the full article
  15. One of India's most loved 'older' social media stars, multi-millionaire Anand Mahindra's active social media presence, and regular engagement with his followers has made him super popular with young and old alike. Mr. Mahindra always makes sure that he posts about things that are not just related to his work and industry, but also initiates interesting conversations on social media. © Reuters While many of us must have already noticed that Mr. Mahindra's Twitter account is sprinkled with numerous posts that are informative, entertaining and inspiring for his audience, he recently took to his Twitter account and shared a video of a man talking in sign language over a video call. © Twitter Sharing the video, Mr Mahindra underlined that everything has its pros and cons, and while today people are quick to condemn the growing and excessive use of technology, it is also helping millions to live a better life. This is what he had to say, "We often criticise the way in which mobile devices have taken over our world… It's good to remind ourselves that these devices have also OPENED up a whole new world of communication for many of us.” We often criticise the way in which mobile devices have taken over our world.. 16. Rahul Gandhi honestly doesn't even need to do anything to get trolled but he's also gracious enough to provide people with a lot of content that can be used against him. The poor guy can never catch a break. I actually do kind of feel bad for him, but him dancing is also a hilarious sight for so many people it's great to see everyone come together to make fun of him. Recently, he attended the inauguration of Rashtriya Adivasi Nritya Mahotsav in Raipur where he took part in the traditional dance. On one hand, it's great that he's actively participating and probably being a good guest, but on the other hand, he gets ripped apart online for just breathing so everyone can imagine what him dancing actually did. 17. Sidharth Malhotra's sartorial statements have shown that he is a man who can strut wearing anything. He likes to experiment but in his own way. Be it making a statement in a casual outfit or looking sharp and sophisticated for events, Sidharth has given us a lesson or two in fashion. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Just recently, as he was papped at the airport in a dandy outfit, what actually took us by surprise were his sneakers. We have seen him in 'dirty' sneakers and even studded ones, but this pair looked way too unconventional and it's definitely a style that made a head-turning statement. A closer look and you would see that this pair is destroyed and deconstructed. Bold move, Sid! © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani First, let's take a good look at his casual outfit. Sidharth is a big fan of sweatshirts and he knows exactly how to be experimental with them. He has been spotted knocking it off the park wearing a spooky sweatshirt or the one with Big B's face on it. For his recent airport outfit, he wore JUUN.J's, 'Be Curious Not Judgemental' sweatshirt which conveyed quite a clear message. © Viral Bhayani Even his joggers are not to be missed as they are bright red and dovetail well with his relaxed sweatshirt. The slogan play up with snazzy sunglasses and a cap made his appearance even more statement-worthy. © Viral Bhayani Coming to his destroyed or deconstructed sneakers, they are reassembled and legit look inside out. Some of the biggest kicks brands are revving up their shoe construction by making the most of this particular trend. The unfinished look of these sneakers add up to the style quotient and are indubitably OTT. The fabric and texture of the sneakers define the pair, making it one of the most fashion-forward choices of all times. All in all, this pair, even though it looks extreme, is a game-changer and we cannot stop diggin' the trend! Thanks to Sidharth for making it big with his sneakers. View the full article

  19. Tiger Shroff is not your regular fashionista. He is quirky in a way that is understated, yet conspicuous if you know how to look closely. While one would expect someone like him to wear clothes that really show off that hard earned physique, he often does exactly the opposite. He has often gone ahead and wore really baggy clothes that show us his quirky side. He just did it again, by wearing a pair of pants that look like they are 4 sizes bigger. Take a look. (c) Viral Bhayani (c) Viral Bhayani Probably no one else would be able to make such a 'long' pair of pants look ultra cool, like he's doing here. He clearly has a thing against getting pants altered, which we don't get, but he does manage to make it work! (c) Viral Bhayani Don't these pants look like they have their own hypebeast aesthetic going on? The almost monochromatic aesthetic with the varying shades of black and dark grey, along with the shades is perfect for a lazy day out, or even a brunch. Just don't wear them to a dance party where they may just turn out to be a hazard, in case you're planning to emulate a similar outfit. (c) Viral Bhayani All we can say is, probably only Tiger can pull off such an unassumingly quirky outfit, effortlessly so. You do you, Tiger. Also, thanks for letting us know that alteration is overrated. View the full article
  20. If you've never heard of the French acoustic engineering company called Devialet, then you're either not into sophisticated audio equipment or you're not the kind who'd spend freaking Rs 1.3 lakh on a speaker. Either way, I won't blame you, but I'd like to introduce a fantastic piece of technology today. Meet, the 'Phantom Reactor 900' by Devialet. A tiny speaker that literally packs a surprising amount of punch. It's one of those speakers that'll make you appreciate the music that you're listening to. The folks over at Devialet let me borrow a Phantom Reactor for a couple of weeks and here's what I think about it - © MensXP Tiny Alien Egg From The Future! As you can see, the Devialet Phantom Reactor looks like a tiny alien egg. Not going to lie, I've never seen a speaker so pretty that I don't even feel like tossing it off aside unlike most other speakers that I have. It's something that you'd want to keep at the forefront like a showpiece. I got the Matte Black colour variant of the speaker to use, but it also comes in an "Iconic White" colour, which has a glossy surface. I would, any day, prefer the white variant over this one, but that's just me. © MensXP Although the overall footprint of the speaker is small, it's surprisingly heavy. It's over 4kgs, which is why I'd say it's not exactly portable. I mean, you can unplug it and carry it around in your house or to your backyard, but it's not ideal to be carried outside. It doesn't have a battery too, which means it'll always be hugging a power outlet. Overall, I'd say it's one of the most beautiful looking speakers out there. If you have a minimal setup at your home, then the Phantom Reactor would blend in seamless without sticking out like a sore thumb. The iconic egg-shaped design of its big brother, Phantom, adds a lot of personality to it. It looks straight out of a sci-fi movie, to be honest. © MensXP Impressive Sound The Phantom Reactor looks cool and all, but what about the sound quality? Well, it's fantastic. In fact, it's loud and exquisite, to be precise. Yes, that's how I'd put it. I was blown away by the output coming out such a small package. I mean, who'd have thought a small speaker like this would piss off my neighbours? It's one thing to listen to music, but it's a completely different experience to feel it. The Phantom Reactor will make you feel the music. Be it underground music, a mainstream EDM rave track or a pop title, the speaker sounds phenomenal. The bass response is the first thing that stands out. It's also a lot of fun to look at the bass drivers wobble. Here, take a look - via GIPHY The bass is super smooth and it leaves a kind of impact that no other speakers have been able to match, at least for me. Playing titles like Ricko James' "A Samurai's Death" or "Moon Face" that sends waves across the drivers is truly a sight to behold. What's interesting about the speaker is that there's no vibration on the speaker's body or its surroundings. You won't feel a thing if you touch the speakers, which is quite impressive. Besides the bass, there's another driver that handles the mids and the highs. The output for that comes from the grille on the front and it's said to output sound in a three-dimensional form. See that fancy grille on the front? Yes, that's it. I don't think it handled the whole 360-degree output very well, but if you place it appropriately in the room, then it'll fill very easily. It's all about the placement. © MensXP You can also choose to pair two of them and have a stereo effect. But that'll, of course, cost you a lot of money. But hey, good audio is expensive. There aren't a lot of speakers out there that'll make you feel like you're in a concert hall. It has a 900W peak power, after all. Connectivity The Phantom Reactor comes with an app that can be used to connect and lay music. You can use it as a Bluetooth speaker or sync it to a local network and play it via AirPlay, Spotify Connect or UPnP. There's a 3.5mm jack for input too in case you want to use that. The Phantom Reactor has touch-sensitive controls on the top and you'll be prompted to use these while setting up. You can also just tap the Bluetooth button to pair on the go, and that's the easiest way to connect to the speaker and play music. The Devialet app also works well, but for some reason, it asked me to set up the speaker every time I closed and opened the app again. © MensXP The setup process, mind you, takes quite a bit of time, so it's quite annoying to see it happen all the time. The companion app definitely needs some work, but otherwise, I really like the UI and the way it lets you control everything. The Final Say So, is the Phantom Reactor worth buying? Well, in case you don't know, the Phantom Reactor costs Rs 1,29,000 in India. Yes, that's Rs 1.3 lakh, which makes it one of the most expensive speakers that you can buy in the country. Assuming that you're willing to splurge that much on a speaker, I'd say you won't regret it. © MensXP Powerful and punchy bass is Phantom Reactor's forte and it'll truly make you feel like you're in a concert hall if you turn the volume all the way. It'll truly change house parties for you, and you'll never want to go back to normal speakers again. The Phantom Reactor looks fantastic and sounds incredibly good. Save for a couple of minor issues with the app, I'd say it's a damn good speaker. Buy it, if you want to feel and experience the song instead of just listening to it. View the full article
  21. Akshay Kumar's sartorial sensibilities are a perfect mix of classics and casuals. Recently, for the promotions of his upcoming movie, Good Newwz, he has turned up the experimental side and is going all out with his ensembles. Be it him wearing sock sneakers or two-tone split pants, he is doing it all, and quite effortlessly. © Viral Bhayani Besides him, if there's another B-town star who is known for his outrageous fashion choices, it is Ranveer Singh. He can instantly make anything look fashionable and has shown us that he is the real OG of fashion. © Instagram/Ranveer Singh The recent events made it clear that Akshay is sartorially 'woke' and is constantly raising the style stakes. Yet again for the promotions, he stepped out wearing a baby pink outfit with blue converse sneakers and we have to say, this steer clears of the mainstream styles we have been seeing. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Akshay has a knack for nailing the look with versatile silhouettes. For one of this recent look, he also sported a tattered T-shirt which proves that he likes fashion to be OTT. The baby pink sweatshirt and joggers make his appearance quite classy and laid-back. When it comes to elevating the casual game, neutral colours are a choice we make. Akshay, on the other hand, took it a notch higher in a subtle shade and did a 180 with it. © Instagram/Ranveer Singh © Viral Bhayani Even Ranveer for that matter has been noticed time and again experimenting with such hues but this time, we have to admit that Akshay raised the bar quite high and took the award home with this ensemble. Add to that, his bright blue converse sneakers made the look even more outstanding. Must say, it's time to watch out for the Khiladi! View the full article

  24. In a country where cricket is regarded as no less than a religion, India has been biased towards the gentleman's game over the years. While cricket continues to hog the limelight, other sports including football remain on the sidelines with comparatively lower fanfare. But, the times are changing and the gap, that was once feared irreversible, has reduced considerably. With a keen interest from the younger generation, football as a sport has surely broken new ground in the country. The football contests are short, crisp and probably more exciting than the cricketing contests we've been used to watching with our parents. However, despite an increasing interest in football, people in this part of the world appear to be more interested in foreign leagues like the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga. Every now and then, one can find themselves in a brief conversation about India's lack of producing a well-equipped football unit - one that can help the country qualify for the coveted FIFA World Cup. But, the conversation generally ends as soon as the players return to the pitch after half-time during a Premier League clash over the weekend. While the love for the sport is a great motivator to drive its popularity in any country, for a nation to truly make a mark on the ever-competitive world stage, its domestic leagues need support to nurture young talents so as to turn them into future stars - something that has eluded I-League over the years. © I-League It was in 1996 that India began its first domestic league known as the National Football League, rechristened as I-League in 2007. But, despite being around for almost 23 years, the country's premier football league is still an alien in India. If the lack of fanfare and viewership marred its popularity, I-League was dealt with a major blow after the Kuala Lumpur-based Asian Football Confederation (AFC), along with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), elevated the cash-rich Indian Super League (ISL) to the status of India's premier league earlier this October. From celebrity owners, prominent foreign coaches and players to a huge influx of money from IMG-Reliance, the ISL, in its brief existence, managed to achieve what I-League couldn't in years. Since then, I-League has played a second fiddle to the ISL with bare minimum viewership and lack of funds. © I-League But, despite lack of commercial interests and hosting games in half-empty stadiums, the I-League isn't deterred to serve its all-important purpose - nurturing young talents and providing the much-needed arsenal to ensure Indian football continues to grow in its bid to secure World Cup qualification. And, that's what the country's premier league aims for in its upcoming 13th season. Kick-starting on November 30, with Mohun Bagan FC taking on Aizawl FC in Mizoram, the 13th edition of the I-League will feature 11 teams, with the induction of TRAU FC, winners of the Hero Second division last season. In a first, fans from across the country, this season, will witness two local derbies - the legendary Kolkata derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, and the Imphal derby featuring Neroca FC and TRAU FC. For years, we've speculated over the quality of football in Indian domestic leagues and how it's still way behind other competitive leagues across the globe. So, is there anything different on offer from I-League this season? Well, the I-League superstars have spilled the beans. © I-League "Every year the I-League is getting tougher. Each year comparatively we have so much fight. We have the southern derby between Gokulam Kerala FC and Chennai City FC. It makes competition very tough, we have slowly shifted from the Nigerians to the Spaniards. So, we are going more towards the European style of football and most of the teams now offer the same. So, we can certainly see a difference in the style of play," Ajith Kumar, Chennai City FC defender, told MensXP. Peter Lalduhawma, Aizawl FC midfielder, feels that the evening starts to the games this season will improve the attendance in the stadiums. "I think the timings of the matches is one major different thing. Most of the fans go to work which reduces the audience in the stadiums and with 7:00 pm matches will help us attract more fans. We have already seen it in the Mizoram premier league - the fans are much more in the night than the afternoon," he told MensXP. "AIFF is putting in their efforts to improve the season every year. In the last five years we have had five different winners. The teams are better and tougher and so is the league. I believe this year the football itself will attract the fans," he added. © I-League On being asked about I-League's role in grooming and nurturing young talents, Jonathan Lalrawngbawla, Aizawl FC striker, said, "Aizawl FC has always concentrated on the youth and we already have U13, U15, U16, U17 and U19 teams. So, this coming I-League will also be very interesting for us as there are many young talented players in the team. So, it will be a new experience for the team". “Over the years the Hero I-League has been scouting and providing a platform for future stars of Indian Football. In the 13th edition this year we have 11 teams from eight states and one Union Territory fighting for the top honours. I wish luck to all the participating teams,” Kushal Das, AIFF General Secretary, said ahead of the new I-League season. Praful Patel, AIFF President, also stressed on the importance of the I-League and said, “We are very happy to welcome TRAU FC to the 13th edition of the Hero I-League. The pan India presence has been the unique feature of the league in the last few editions, and is a true testimony to the manner it has played a critical role in spreading the game to all corners of the country”. © I-League The I-League might not be able to compete with the cash-rich ISL, but if last season was anything to go by, the country's oldest professional competition was far better than its counterpart, thriving on its own strength, rather than relying on the grossly artificial publicity overdrive. Unperturbed by their demotion as country's premier league, I-League, with its new season, seems hell-bent on proving Indian football is not just about the money. After all, the beautiful game is all about courage, inspiration and steely nerves, not a vulgar display of breaking the bank. View the full article

This time though, it comes with a side of controversy. Notwithstanding that, one thing is for sure and it's that the man knows how to make headlines - be it with his roles, or his fashion game.  He just attended a promotional event for Pati, Patni Aur Woh, and even though his whole outfit was one was for the fashion books, we couldn't but help focus on his boots. Take a look. Even though they look really worn out, dirty, and discoloured in places, they are not. They are in fact a brand new pair, and the worn-out look is a new fashion statement - let's just say, something like ripped jeans but in the footwear department? Kartik is wearing a statement pair of boots from Premiata, whose SS19 collection boasts of this unique aesthetic. Take a close look at the aesthetic here. When it comes to the rest of his outfit, Kartik is wearing a statement jacket from Polo Ralph Lauren, Scotch Official jeans, and shades from Burberry. Clearly, The Vainglorious is on top of their game here.
