  1. If you're a Star Wars fan, it's likely that you'll remember the iconic twin suns of Tatooine: Cool, aren't they? A young intern at NASA however, has just discovered a new planet - where you might be able to spot the greatest sunrise of all time - with two suns at once. The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, also known as TESS, is a specialised space telescope that was launched into orbit by SpaceX in 2018 with the specific purpose of discovering exoplanets. The term refers to planets outside of the solar system, and as you might imagine, they're not particularly easy to spot. © NASA; An illustration of TESS working in orbit. The most common method of discovering them is locating dark spots in front of distant stars - caused by planets revolving around their respective stars and blocking their light from reaching us. This phenomenon is known as a 'transit', and TESS is able to detect them by using four powerful cameras to capture 1296 images of the same patch of sky across 27 days - that's a single hi-res image every half-hour. © NASA; Optics engineer Greg Balonek prepares a TESS flight lens for modal testing at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The intern, Wolf Cukier, joined NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, after his junior year of high school at Scarsdale High School in New York. He was assigned to study variations in star brightness captured by TESS and upload it to the Planet Hunters TESS citizen science project. © New York Post; Wolf sitting at his desk in a NASA jumper. Note the physics textbooks and telescope - he's clearly in the perfect line of work. "I was looking through the data for everything the volunteers had flagged as an eclipsing binary, a system where two stars circle around each other and from our view eclipse each other every orbit," Cukier said in a statement from NASA. "About three days into my internship, I saw a signal from a system called TOI 1338. At first I thought it was a stellar eclipse, but the timing was wrong. It turned out to be a planet." What's remarkable about Cukier's discovery is that the planet is 'circumbinary' - revolving around two suns instead of one like in the solar system. There are only about two dozen such planets discovered, making the intern's fortunate finding all the more special. Designated as TOI 1338 b, it is the only planet in the TOI 1338 system and revolves around the twin suns every 95 days - both of them revolve around each other much faster at 15 days and are considerably different from each other. One is 10% larger than our Sun, while the other is just a third of the Sun's mass, and is much dimmer and smaller. If you're looking to catch that special sunset however, it's quite unlikely - the system is 1,300 light years away from Earth, and is 6.9 times the size of our planet - making it likely that even if we survive the journey and the harsh radiation and heat from two suns, TOI 1338 b's gravity is likely to crush us like a grape. Unfortunately for Wolf, he doesn't get to name his discovery - although his brother suggests that 'Wolftopia' would be pretty cool. View the full article
  2. Ameesha Patel and Akshaye Khanna might be in some cinema oblivion right now but once upon a time, they did some great work and charmed us with their good looks on the big screen (they're still good looking TBH). One particular super hit that they were part of together was 'Humraaz' and the song 'Bardasht Nahi Kar Sakta' was a massive hit. So since Bollywood has been a huge fan of revamping old hits, it does not really come as a surprise that the groovy song is being remade. It will be a part of the Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer 'Mental Hai Kya' and will be recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. © Balaji Motion Pictures The question is 'why'? Tanishk is super talented and while we love his music, we want to know why change the memories attached to this song as well? Also, at least they should recreate it with Ameesha Patel and Akshaye Khanna! Is that too much to ask for? I will not accept it unless it features @ameesha_patel and Akshay Khanna. pic.twitter.com/3nFWUESIkR — Aayushi Bhargava (@AreUShe) November 20, 2018 Clearly, people are not happy with this development. So they are on a mission to ruin every freakin song from 10-20 years ago. — Desi Gooner (@Sahil_Adhikaari) November 20, 2018 Well, the song could turn out great eventually and who knows, it also might also end up on our play list, but right now, the idea of watching it again without the garish orange clothing, the amazing voice of KK and Ameesha and Akshay grooving intensely to "aaeeaaaooooo", seems outlandish. Basically, the remake of 'Bardasht' is something we don't want to 'bardasht' at all!

  5. The play is based on real life stories of prisoners waiting on death row. LAHORE: The unofficial death penalty moratorium that was in place during the last Pakistan People?s Party government was lifted in December 2014. Since then, 477 prisoners have been executed at the astonishing rate of four per week. Despite data showing that the death penalty does not lead to a decrease in crime, executions continue unabated in Pakistan. To commemorate the World Day Against the Death Penalty, which falls on October 10, the Lahore-based Justice Project Pakistan, in collaboration with the Azad Theatre and Highlight Arts has launched a unique project titled, Bus Kar Do. The initiative will include a week-long bus tour through several cities of Punjab and Sindh. Once the bus arrives in a city, the actors will travel to the heart of the local community and perform the play ?Intezar- The Wait.? The initiative will include a week-long bus tour through several cities of Punjab and Sindh. The play is based on real life stories of prisoners waiting on death row, some of whom have been executed by now. In line with the global theme of poverty and injustice, Bus Kar Do aims to bring more awareness surrounding the death penalty?s systemic targeting of the poor and the vulnerable of the society. The JPP will also set up postcard booths where onlookers can write to President Mamoon Hussain, asking for clemency for Abdul Basit, a paralyzed prisoner on death row for a decade, who has twice come within seconds of being executed.
  6. Badshah in a song is like the inevitable. His music, rap and lyrics, Bollywood cannot get enough of him. © Twitter You are hearing him on the radio, in the bar, at a wedding—he is basically omnipresent. We bet you are crooning to one of his numbers, now that I mentioned his name. He did a fun video with TOI entertainment where he translated some of his best works into English. He sounds all callous and laidback but we like him so much, we enjoyed it anyway! In another world, his latest song ‘Mercy’ has already crossed 25 million views. Check it out if you haven’t already:

Zabt kar ke hansi ko bhool geya,Main to us zakhm hi ko bhool geya, Zaat-dar-zaat hamsafar reh kar, Ajnabi ajnabi ko bhool geya, Subh tak vajh-e-jaan-kani thi jo baat, Main usay shaam hi ko bhool geya, Ehd-e-vabastagi guzaar ke main, Vajh-e-wabastagi ko bhool geya, Sab daleelen to mujh ko yaad rahin, Behss kya thi ussi ko bhool geya main, Kyun na ho naaz is zehaanat par, Ek main har kisi ko bhool geya, Sab se pur-amn waaqiya hai yeh, Aadmi aadmi ko bhool geya, Qehqaha maartay hi deewana, Har gham-e-zindagi ko bhool geya, Kya qayamat hui agar ik shakhss, Apni khush-qismati ko bhool geya, Sab buray mujh ko yaad rehte hain, Jo bhalaa tha usii ko bhool geya, Un se vaada to kar liya lekin, Apni kam-fursati ko bhool geya, Khawb-ha-khawb jis ko chaha tha, Rang-ha-rang ussi ko bhool geya, Bastiyo ab to rasta dedo, Ab to main us gali ko bhool geya, Us ne goya mujhi ko yaad rakha, Main bhi goya usi ko bhool geya, Yaani tum woh ho waqeyi ? Hadh hai, Main to sach-much sabhi ko bhool geya, Ab to har baat yaad rehti hai, Ghaliban main kisi ko bhool geya, Us ki khushiyon se jalne wala Jaun, Apni eeza-dahi ko bhool geya.. Zabt kar ke hansi ko bhool geya..
