  1. It has been a little over two and a half months since two-time Indian Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar was accused of murdering a fellow wrestler Sagar Rana by beating him to a pulp with a stick and asking one of his goons to record the whole act on video. Since then, Kumar has run away, deceived and escaped the Delhi Police, and was ultimately caught, smack in the middle of a highway. After being arrested, Kumar’s case has been making constant rounds of the judicial court and his custody is being played hot potato with, between the judicial system and the law enforcers. View this post on Instagram Finally, it was decided that Kumar will be transferred to Tihar Jail, one of the biggest prisons in the world where the most dangerous, and evidently the most important criminals are kept and if you are really lucky (or have achieved celebrity status), you will get to make unnecessary demands as a prisoner and your wishes will come true. Kumar has all of the above and so when the wrestler made a request to have a television set up for him to watch the 2020 edition of the Olympics in Tokyo, the men at Tihar said “Sure! Why not?” Delhi's Tihar Jail will arrange a TV in common area of the ward where wrestler Sushil Kumar, accused in murder case of wrestler Sagar Rana, is lodged. All the medals won by Sushil Kumar should be taken from him. We believe that police will investigate properly but Sushil will try to influence it by using his political links," Rana's mother argued, according to India Today. "We are hoping for justice. Where did he go when he was absconding, who gave him shelter, and most importantly the gangsters with whom he is connected to. He should be hanged so that people learn a lesson and think before killing his own pupil," said Rana’s father. View the full article

Mumbai | Case registered u/s 376 IPC against Bhushan Kumar, managing director, T-Series, at DN Nagar Police station on allegations of rape with a 30-year-old woman on the pretext of engaging her for a project at the company. Probe underway, no arrests made till now: Police — ANI (@ANI) July 16, 2021 "Mumbai police have registered a case against T-Series company's Managing Director Bhushan Kumar, son of music baron late Gulshan Kumar, for allegedly raping a woman on the promise of providing a job to her. The offense was registered at DN Nagar police station in Andheri (West) on the basis of the complaint filed by the 30-year-old woman," an official said on Friday (July 16). So far, the police have refused to provide the details as to when the alleged crime took place. "As per the complaint, Bhushan Kumar allegedly raped the woman on the pretext of providing a job to her in some projects of his own company," said an official speaking to PTI. According to the police, the woman said that she had been cheated by him and that was the reason she had approached the police. The woman had also alleged that Kumar had threatened to harm if she dared open her mouth to anyone. The police have now charged Kumar under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation). Following this, Kumar's team also went on to issue a statement. "The complaint filed against Mr. Bhushan Kumar is completely false and malicious and the contents of the same are denied. It has been falsely alleged that the lady in question was sexually exploited between 2017 to 2020 on the pretext of giving her work. It is a matter of record that she has already worked for T-Series banner in Film and music videos. Around March 2021 she approached Mr. Bhushan Kumar seeking help to fund one of the web series which she wanted to produce, which was politely refused. Thereafter, In June 2021 after the lifting of lockdown in Maharashtra, she started approaching the T-Series banner in collusion with her accomplice demanding a huge sum of money as extortion amount. Consequently, a complaint was filed by T-Series banner against the attempted extortion at with police at Amboli police station on 1st July 2021. We also have evidence in the form of audio recording for the extortion attempt and the same shall be provided to investigating agency. The present complaint filed by her is nothing but a counterblast to the complaint filed against her and her accomplice for the offense of extortion. We are in the process of consulting our lawyers in this regard and will take appropriate legal action," said the statement. View the full article
  4. We lost a shining gem two days ago, when India’s biggest superstar and the first star, Dilip Kumar, left for his heavenly abode leaving behind his memories. The entire world has been paying respect to the late actor on social media and some are even sharing anecdotes and memories they have with him. BJP leader Arun Yadav’s condolence message has left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth as his tweet about the legendary actor didn’t go down too well with some people. Actress and politician Urmila Matondkar even called him out for claiming that Dilip Kumar took a Hindu name to earn money. — Arun Yadav (@beingarun28) July 7, 2021Shame on you — Urmila Matondkar (@UrmilaMatondkar) July 7, 2021In an interview with PTI, she further elaborated on her displeasure. “It is sad to see that a legend of our country is being trivialised by saying that he kept a Hindu name to earn money. One needs to show dignity and class. He has done so many socially relevant films. He helped the widows of soldiers who lost their lives in Kargil war and did innumerable amounts of social work. It is because of this particular thinking of these people that there are many people who think it is fine to create a constant communal division and whitewash it. Shame on thinking like this. He (Yadav) needs to grow up. He needs to get the information correct," © BCCL Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was born Mohammed Yousuf Khan on December 11, 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan. He changed his name to Dilip Kumar after it was suggested to him by producer Devika Rani, who was the head of the Bombay Talkies. The words used on the internet can often hurt sentiments if not used with caution. View the full article

  6. Yesterday was a remarkably sad day for the Indian film industry. We lost a legendary thespian, the first megastar of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar. In a career spanning more than six decades, he delivered numerous films across genres and brought realism to Hindi cinema. © Twitter/Dilip Kumar He invented the concept of method acting in Bollywood. Anyone who has seen any of his films can tell he was the ultimate method actor. He was not only an inspiration for all the younger actors to come after him, but also an acting institution whom they learnt from. © Bimal Roy Production A clip from an award show in 2001 is doing the rounds on the internet where Shah Rukh Khan, another megastar, welcomed Kumar to have a chat about his art. He rolled out a red carpet as Kumar and his wife, Saira Banu walked on stage. © Twitter/MuVyz.Com SRK, who starred in the remake of Devdas which featured Kumar in the original movie, asked him some questions to tap into his marvellous journey and the star status he had achieved. He asked him what makes his film so successful and his performance so memorable for the audience. “What are some qualities that make all the films that he has done so enduring, long-lasting and wonderful?” he asked. © Twitter/Dilip Kumar Kumar answered, “Sheer good luck, hard work togetherness, fellowship. And above all, no actor can be bigger than the substance which he portrays. I mean, the character, the story, the screenplay, and for any good or an enduring performance, Shahrukh, you have to have a good story, a good character, equations, sound conflict. And enough opportunity for you to then wait through it. Because then you have substance to deal with. Not just Shadows.” His words prove that he was an actor of substance and connection to the story and commitment to the role is what made him one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema. This was also probably the moment where he subconsciously gave a name to his autobiography which he wrote much later in life, Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow which was published in 2014. © Twitter In the end, Shah Rukh revealed to him that he was going to play Devdas in his movie’s remake and Saira Banu and Dilip Sahab only had blessings and wishes to give him. 11. It was always believed that one could either be a star or an actor in the entertainment industry until the legendary Dilip Kumar entered the world of cinema and proved how he can be both. Many believe that the ‘tragedy king’ had the Midas touch of method acting and any role he picked was turned into magic. He gave us movies like Mughal-E-Azam and Devdas which are synonymous to his name, not the script. © BCCL He left for his heavenly abode this morning and also left the world filled with his memories. The original superstar of Bollywood was not just an actor but was a pillar of constant inspiration for every other actor who entered the industry after him. When he became an actor, he felt that he looked like the legendary actor and in an interview he once spoke about his childhood days when he got acquainted with Dilip Kumar. “I knew Dilip saab as a kid. Dad knew him. They used to live in the same galli in Delhi. I've met Dilip saab many times in my childhood. We have been to his place often. Actually, Sairaji doesn't remember this but her medicines used to be sent by my aunt from London. Years later, when I was working with Ketan Mehta, I saw a picture of Dilip Kumar in his office and I was like oh! that's me. He looked so much like me in that picture. Or rather I looked so much like him. But my relationship with Dilip saab goes beyond films. Dilip saab and Sairaji have always thought of me as their son." © BCCL 2. DharmendraThe Sholay superstar who continues to enjoy the love of millions of fans has always been in awe of Dilip saab. He has often shared throwback pictures with him and shared anecdotes from their memories. Amitabh BachchanOne would imagine what possibly could intimidate or inspire the man who inspires the whole world? His army of fans continue to visit his residence and get a glimpse of this magnum opus of a star, but Big B, in an interview with Filmfare, once mentioned how he loves Dilip Kumar’s work more than anything else. “Almost all his films were inspirational and worthy of mention but Ganga Jumna (1961) was a favorite. For someone born and brought up in Allahabad, UP, the land of Awadhi, to watch and hear Dilip saab ostensibly from Mumbai, behave and speak the perfect diction of a UP inhabitant was incredible," he said. © Twitter 4. Salman KhanEven Bhai thinks that no one greater has stepped foot in the industry. In an old interview, he said “Actor wise, I don't think anyone is bigger than Dilip Kumar, after that Mr Amitabh Bachchan had a very good run and he's working even today and is everywhere”.
