  1. Do you almost always have a mini anxiety attack when you're putting in your card details to buy something online, or do you just do it without a care in the world? With the scope of fraud in online shopping having increased so much, the hesitation is quite natural and sometimes even spot on, and the story of Manjunath N is a perfect example of that fear. Basically, he got duped out of Rs 5,000 while trying to buy a phone on OLX and well, being wronged like that can make people switch over to the dark side, sometimes. So, naturally, he decided to use the same trick to defraud other people and ended up bringing in lakhs of rupees that way. © UTV Motion Pictures After being a victim and the perpetrator of online fraud, it does feel like he got his own villain origin story. Working as a flower seller in Bengaluru, he lost his job and source of income due to the pandemic. And, that's why he turned to online scams to earn money. You can almost feel some sympathy for him, almost. But of course, his actions were illegal, and well, he was been caught by the police after one of his victims filed a complaint. © UTV Motion Pictures The victim, named Dhanush D of Chikkallasandra, thought he was buying a second hand Hyundai Verna car after seeing the ad on OLX, but after he bought it for Rs 4.5 lakh, our guy Manjunath here just ghosted him. Reportedly, he robbed people in Tilaknagar, KR Puram, Nelamangala, Nayandahalli, and Mysuru. After he was caught, cops seized valuables worth Rs 9 lakh, including gold, a car, two-wheelers, a watch, and cash, from him. View the full article
  2. Last night, a bunch of prominent Twitter accounts were hacked by Cryptocurrency scammers that included accounts of Elon Musk, Kanye West, Bill Gates, Apple, amongst many others. The hack was soon noticed and even more, accounts started to get compromised. © Reuters Scammers tweeted a Bitcoin wallet address on behalf of these accounts promising to send double the amount of BTC if a user sent $1000 worth first. The scam took place in two rounds where the first tweet was deleted after which a similar post was posted again. NEW: Hackers take over Twitter accounts of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and many more. pic.twitter.com/UGXEkYunHb — Norbert Elekes (@NorbertElekes) July 15, 2020 The tweets posted from Musk’s account were indeed fake and read as “You know I living giving back to my community. I’m doubling all BTC payments sent to my address. You send $1,000 and I will send #$2,000 back! Tell your family & friends! Only going on for 30 minutes. (sic).” Similarly, a tweet with a subtle change was posted to Many Wests’ accounts as well with the slight change reading as “I’m Giving Back to my fans, I’m doubling all BTC payments sent to my address. You send $1,000 and I will send #$2,000 back! Tell your family & friends! Only going on for 30 minutes.” © Reuters Soon after, accounts of Jeff Bezos, Warran Buffet, Apple, Uber amongst many others also posted similar messages. Twitter accounts getting hacked is a fairly common occurring, however, it is the first time high-profile accounts were targeted. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey responded to the hack tweeting “We all feel terrible this happened. We're diagnosing and will share everything we can when we have a more complete understanding of exactly what happened,” According to blockchain.com that has been tracking the scammer’s account, the perpetrator was able to gather as much as $118,211.37 in Bitcoin currency and almost the entire amount has already been withdrawn. When converting the total amount to Indian currency, the scammer was able to get Rs 88,93,927.95. How Did It Happen?According to Twitter Support, the attach was carried out by people who “successfully targeted some of our employees with access to internal systems and tools”. “We know they used this access to take control of many highly-visible (including verified) accounts and Tweet on their behalf. We’re looking into what other malicious activity they may have conducted or information they may have accessed and will share more here as we have it,” as tweeted by the official account. Twitter also said the social media giant has restricted access to internal systems and tools as well as limited functionality to affected accounts. In Twitter’s investigation, everything points to the same perpetrate who was behind the cryptocurrency scam. View the full article
  3. Remember playing Super Mario Bros. as a kid? Well, a mint sealed copy of the game just sold decades later and is now the most expensive game ever sold. The US version of the 1985 game that was never opened auctioned for $114,000 or Rs 45 Lakh. It broke the record previously held by a copy of the same game in similar condition. A sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. just sold at auction for $114,000, which is a new record for the sale of a single game. Bet the owners of the $100,000 one, which is an earlier printing, feel great today. pic.twitter.com/lVdcla8d19 — Chris Kohler (@kobunheat) July 10, 2020 The sealed copy of this particular game was graded 9.4 out of 10; a near-perfect condition the way it was sold in 1985. The game had its original packaging and came with all the instructions booklet and the original cardboard hang tab. The auction house Here’s Heritage gives a good description of the historic game that sold at their auction: “What’s the deal with cardboard hang tabs? one may, understandably, wonder. Cardboard hang tabs were originally used on the US test market copies of black box games, back before plastic was used to seal each game. As Nintendo began to further establish their company in the US, their packaging was updated almost continuously. Strangely, the addition of the plastic wrap came before the box cutting die was altered to remove the cardboard hang tab. This rendered the functionality of the cardboard hang tab completely useless, since it was under the plastic seal. There are four sub-variants of the plastic sealed cardboard hang tab box (this particular copy of Super Mario Bros. being the “3 Code” variant) that were produced within the span of one year. Each sub-variant of the cardboard hang tab black box, produced within that timeframe, had a production period of just a few months; a drop in the bucket compared to the title’s overall production run. © Nintendo and YouTube In short, the cardboard hang tab copy of any early Nintendo Entertainment System game brings a certain air of “vintage” unrivalled by its successors.” Being an early version of the game since many variants came out, later on, makes it even more valuable. The game not only has great nostalgia factor, but it was also the highest-selling game on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. We don’t know who purchased the game for such an exorbitant amount as wealthy collector tend to stay anonymous. Do you remember owning a cartridge of Super Mario Bros.? Well, you never know it might be worth something if its in the right condition. View the full article
  4. Like many Bollywood actors, Shahid Kapoor isnât a stranger to the world of fast, luxurious and exclusive cars. The 39-year-old performer owns several European brands from Jaguar to Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover, although after a 10-year long tryst with his 2010 Vogue S, the car is finally on the market for grabs. In this video by Fahad Munshi of Lucky Motors in Santacruz, Mumbai, weâre shown a thorough walkaround of the vehicle on sale, alongside a Hummer H3. In 2009, Land Rover offered only two engine options in the Range Rover in India. This Vogue S variant came powered by the highly acclaimed LR-TDV8 diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 271 Bhp. The British SUV was, at its time, one of the most sought-after luxury 4x4 vehicles in the world. © Range Rover This was true, especially in India. Shahid Kapoor was the first person to get the delivery of the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover in the country, which is why he received the keys at a special event from none other than Ratan Tata, who acquired the brand (along with Jaguar) from Ford Motors in 2008. © BCCL The car also carries a â700â VIP registration number on the plate, and it seems like Shahid has customised the SUV with an all-black theme, rounded off with blacked-out headlamps. © Youtube/Lucky Motors While some may think that the asking price of Rs 40 lakh is unreasonable for a ten-year-old vehicle, Shahidâs Range Rover has just barely 37,000 kilometres on it, which is very reasonable for a car of this age. © Cartoq Add to that the VIP plates, impeccable condition and of course, bragging rights and youâve got a pretty unique car on your hands. 5. The dismally increasing coronavirus cases across the globe have crippled global economy bringing lives of people to a standstill. This is the first time in the history of mankind something of this level has happened. In the wake of this global pandemic, many countries including India have imposed a country-wide lockdown to contain the spread of this deadly virus. Consequently, many people who earn wages on a daily basis have been left in the lurch. In such testing times, humanity and kindness are the qualities that help us get through life and this tough time. Turns out that humanity continues to stay alive despite what happens and proving this is an instance that occurred in Florida recently. according to a report in HT , an unknown customer left a tip of 10,000 USD (Rs. 7.5 lakh approx) at a restaurant called Skillets in Florida to be distributed amongst its staff members. What a kind soul! He did this in a bid to help staff members make their ends meet until the lockdown is lifted. This incident happened just a day before the state mayor asked all restaurants to shut down. © Yelp The owner of the restaurant revealed that the customer handed the money in cash to the manager of the restaurant, asking him to distribute it evenly amongst the staff members. There were a total of 20 employees working at Skillets and they all received 500 USD (Rs. 37,500 approx) each. According to NBC, the owner spoke about the gentle customer and said, âWe have regulars who have been coming in forever, and theyâre our friends but we donât always know their names. We know their faces, their orders, their favourite tables, but we donât know exactly who they are.â Turns out, this one customer isnât the only one who surprised them with his kindness. The owner of Skillets also revealed that many servers received big tips from other customers in the past few weeks. Owing to the current coronavirus crisis, the restaurant unfortunately has been forced to lay off 90 percent of its employees due to lack of funds. All restaurants were asked to close down. Itâs because of instances like these that people still believe in humanity, kindness and compassion. Kudos to all those people who are helping each other in the time of crisis. View the full article
  6. Remember, Dr Mike from YouTube? Mikhail Varshavski, commonly known as Doctor Mike, is a Russian-American celebrity doctor in Osteopathic medicine, who got Insta-famous after being popularly tagged as #HotDoctorMike on social media. Here are a few things you should know about him that range from his fight against the Coronavirus, his YouTube channel, his style aesthetic to his social media clout: 1. With a current fan following of 3.6 million on Instagram and 5.3 million on YouTube, Doctor Mike is using his significant clout for good in the times of the Coronavirus pandemic with informative videos that ask people to stay alert, not anxious. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@doctor.mike) 2. Dr Mike, aside from his career in medicine, started a YouTube channel wherein he tries to make medicine more familiar to his audience. To make things interesting, he reviews medical dramas and breaks them down in terms of what they present accurately and what is fiction. We're talking major shows like Grey's Anatomy, House, The Good Doctor, Scrubs to name a few. Here's one of his famous videos: 3. His fan following has made eerie comparisons of him with onscreen fictional doctor 'McDreamy' from Grey's Anatomy, courtesy of his spiffy style that we get to witness on Instagram. 4. In fact, these days, amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, he's doing everything in his reach to fight the pandemic. He was one of the first ones to put up videos on the outbreak with constant updates. 5. This was followed up with a doctor's perspective on the frontlines and how it's poles apart from what politicians have to say about Covid-19. 6. Other than that, his quest to get N-95 masks for his colleagues worth 50,000 dollars are popular videos on Covid-19. 7. If you haven't already noticed, one of the reasons why he has a huge fan following is because of the way he cleans up when he's not in his scrubs. In fact, for other fellow doctors, he's no less than an inspiration. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@doctor.mike) As of now, he's busy with patients on the frontlines in hospitals and also making videos for the rest of us (whenever he gets the time) so that we know as much as we can about this pandemic. We hope to see the pandemic ending soon, so that doctors like him get the well-deserved break that they need at this point. View the full article
  7. Motorola has been slacking with its presence, at least in India. The company is nowhere to be seen in front of the Chinese brands that are dominating the market left and right. But it looks like Motorola wants to hit a home run and make a comeback this year. It's planning on doing that with the launch of the Moto Razr. Yes, the foldable phone will finally be made available in India soon. Honestly, the Moto Razr isn't just a revival of the original Razr phone. This one is a full-fledged foldable device that's going head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy Flip as one of the first few foldable phones you can buy right now. But this isn't a phone that you buy for its specs. The Moto Razr isn't going to entertain with the latest specs on the market. Motorola thinks it can win the consumers with the phone's stylish looks and nostalgia factor. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset which is quite old now. It only has up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The battery inside the phone is also very small i.e. just 2,150 mAh. © YouTube/ Motorola The highlight of the phone is its 6.2-inch flexible OLED display. Motorola is using a unique hinge to help the display fold in half to turn the phone into a compact and pocketable device. When the phone is folded, you get to look at a smaller 2.6-inch Quick View OLED display on the top to see all the notifications. As for the camera, there's a 16MP shooter that can be used as both the rear-main camera as well as the selfie shooter. And that's about it when it comes to the specs. Not really that powerful, huh? As I said, Motorola isn't trying to win anybody with the specs here. The company is going after the people who fancy the original Moto Razr and its crazy good flip mechanism. That being said, we haven't had the chance to use the phone extensively to test the phone, so we can't comment on the performance and usability. But what we do know is the price of the phone for now. Pricing & AvailabilityMotorola has launched the Moto Razr in India for Rs 1,24,999. Only one variant of the phone will be available here in India and you'll be able to pick it up from Flipkart starting April 2nd. It's even more expensive than the Galaxy Z Flip in India, making it one of the most expensive phones you can buy in the market today. View the full article
  8. If there's anyone who knows how to amp up his wardrobe with innovative style statements and come out as the best dresser across the globe, it is Nick Jonas. Be it his look for his gigs or red carpet events or even at the airport for that matter, he clearly knows how to rise above the norm. © Viral Bhayani Aside from his popular music albums, he has also demonstrated his penchant for rich timepieces. These days he has been favouring his assemblage of Rolex watches quite a lot while travelling around the world for his gigs or public appearances. © Viral Bhayani Recently, when Nick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas were heading back to the US, they were spotted wearing quirky ensembles to the airport. They both turned up looking well co-ordinated. Nick chose to elevate his airport game with his Gucci's checkered jacket, coupled with a basic white T-shirt and pants. Add to that, his white sneakers which added a whole new dimension to his look. On the other hand, Priyanka was spotted wearing a floral shirt paired with cropped bell bottoms and black blazer. Needless to say, they know how to make a statement, even at airports. © Viral Bhayani © Rolex Nick's sense of style is not limited by norms and has extended to rev up his off-duty style with his watch choices. After wearing a super expensive watch for Ambanis' Holi Party, the recent one that we spotted on his wrist is the Rolex GMT Master II 18k Yellow Gold Black Dial. This model is designed to show different time zones, which makes it convenient during intercontinental flights. The GMT Master is a series that also has a bi-directional rotatable 24-hour graduated bezel. The golden bracelet is a perfect alchemy of style and function, that allows the wearer to increase its length for additional comfort. The watch also shows its best features in the dark, thanks to its chroma light display that makes it easier to see the time at all hours. © Rolex Naturally, since it's Rolex, this luxury watch is available approximately for $29,000 which comes to around Rs 22 lakh in Indian currency. Add to that, the import duties and customs and you would easily end up spending around Rs 29 lakh on this piece. © Viral Bhayani With that sort of shine on his wrist, Nick makes a perfect statement with his high-profile watches and shows that he is an A-lister when it comes to his collection. All in all, this watch complements Nick's airport garb and is one heck of an accessory that we have seen this year. Well done, Nick! View the full article
  9. Yes, you read that right. A UK-based medical research centre has taken upon itself to find a cure for the deadly Coronavirus that is plaguing the entire planet, currently, and has even put life to a halt in several countries. © Reuters According to a report, the Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Centre in London is now looking for around 24 healthy candidates who are willing to be injected with 0C43 and 229E strains of the virus. These will cause minor respiratory problems which will not be as deadly at the Corona but similar in nature, allowing them to study the subject in detail. © Reuters The volunteers will be kept in isolation for a period of 2 weeks, have no physical contact with the world, not exercise and even follow a restricted prescribed diet. The tests, which they will undergo, include taking their nasal swabs and blood tests. However before this experiment can be carried out, the research centre needs official permission from the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency to do anything in this department. © Reuters A lot of pharma companies are undertaking this initiative which will, obviously, make them rich but might also help humanity at large. Over 3600 people have succumbed to the deadly virus already. If given a chance, would you volunteer for 3500 Pounds which is around Rs 3,32741? View the full article

A luxury gifting company called Goldgenie is now selling custom gold Galaxy S20 phones if you have the money for it. The company is customising the entire Galaxy S20 line up in 24K gold. Literally every part of the phone is covered in gold, so it'll definitely cost you a lot of money. © Goldgenie The LTE version of the Galaxy S20 starts at £3,397 which roughly translates to over Rs 3.30 Lakh. And for each higher specced model, you'll be shelling out an additional £200. The Galaxy S20 Plus starts at £3,597 which is roughly Rs 3.51 Lakh, whereas the Galaxy S20 Ultra starts at Rs. 3.71 Lakh. The 5G variants of these phones will obviously cost more, so make sure you have enough money before opting for the 5G variants. Goldgenie is now accepting pre-orders for these phones and the deliveries will start by the end of March. For the money that you're shelling out, the company will be shipping these phones in special packaging and a certificate of authenticity. © Goldgenie Obviously these custom gold Galaxy S20 phones are not for everyone, but they're definitely a great style statement piece. If Android phones are not your thing, then we suggest you check out the custom iPhones that we've covered in the past to see if you like them better. Source: Goldgenie View the full article
  11. Okay, yes, stealing is bad, but I'm still conflicted about this man because he stole for his pets, and that's a pretty damn good excuse. Basically, Tarpan Ameen, a resident of Twinland Tower in sector 1 in Navi Mumbai recently was billed Rs 7.22 Lakh after he stole electricity to keep his dogs in the comfort of air-conditioning throughout the day. Apparently, power supply firm, MSEDCL claims he has stolen electricity worth about Rs 6.98 Lakh and for that, he was fined Rs 24,000. According to one of the officials, the man had three dogs, and among them, one was a golden retriever who, he claimed, couldn't do without constant AC. The biggest question is how the hell do you steal so much electricity without getting caught? Well, it looks like he got a direct connection from the building's electricity cabin and wasn't being billed for it. He got caught after someone complained to the power body about what was happening. But, since he was now paid the full amount and even the penalty, no criminal case is being filed against him. I just hope those poor doggos get all the comfort they deserve and this guy is able to provide them with that, without breaking the law, of course. View the full article
  12. As controversial a figure that Honey Singh has been throughout his musical career, there is no denying the fact that for his fans, he truly is the Indian Rap God. His peppy beats and upbeat music (as well as his highly controversial lyrics) have indeed placed Indian Rap on the global stage, at least for the Indian diaspora. Basically, he went international, in a rather explosive way. © Instagram/yyhsofficial Naturally, like all international rappers who enjoy a massive fan following, Honey Singhâs style is all about bling and wearing stuff that is ridiculously proportioned and priced. Gold chains, golden watches, quirky and zany golden pendants, golden ear studs - you name it. © Instagram/yyhsofficial Turns out, the Punjabi rapper, who is slowly but steadily making his comeback is a huge fan of exquisite Swiss watches. There have been a number of times when he has been spotted some really exquisite Rolex and Tag Heuer pieces. However, it is one of his most recent purchases that actually caught our eye. © Viral Bhayani Honey Singh was recently spotted in Mumbai wearing a rather dope looking explorerâs watch, which was paired with a rather basic, but a quirky athleisure outfit. © Viral Bhayani Letâs get to the outfit first. Honey Singh was wearing a rather simple and basic white t-shirt from Adidas, which was paired with a pair of very loose-fitting joggers from Nike. The super-chunky sneakers, again, were a pair from Nike, the Nike Air Barrage Mid Tops. The sneakers actually are quite zany and are one of the chunkiest pairs that we have seen among major celebrity wear. © Nike Thanks to the super thick sole and the rather outlandish construction of the sneakers, specifically, the word âAirâ written on the side, the sneakers do stand out. At $180 or Rs 14,000, they arenât even that expensive, considering how often we have seen rappers and other celebrities wear pieces that retail for well over Rs 50,000. © Viral Bhayani Now, the piece de resistance, the watch that Honeyâs wearing. They are the Big Bang Unico Titanium Ceramic from the Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot. As simple as the watch looks, it is anything but simple. © Viral Bhayani The case, for example, is made of polished titanium and has a satin finish. The polished black ceramic bezel, along with titanium screws give it a very rugged appeal. The Matte Black Skeleton dial, with the exposed flyback movements and chronograph pieces, do make for an interesting and classic chronograph face. © Hublot A watch this exquisite, just like most of Honeyâs accessories surely isnât cheap. The watch is listed for 17,900 Swiss Franc or CHF. When converted at the current exchange rate, it stands at a figure just under Rs 14 Lakhs. Add to that your regular import duties and customs, and you end up with a figure thatâs well over Rs 18 Lakhs. © Viral Bhayani It indeed is one pricey way of accessorising your outfit. Indeed, it seems Honey Singh, is the king of bling. View the full article

The much-awaited Indian trip for US President Donald Trump has already kickstarted this morning when he landed in the beautiful city of Ahmedabad where he was welcomed with a cultural extravaganza, which looked straight out of a Bollywood movie. #WATCH US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump spin the Charkha at Sabarmati Ashram. Like his predecessors Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W Bush, POTUS and his family will be enjoying a warm Indian welcome at the luxurious âgrand presidential suiteâ at the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel in central Delhi. Located on the 14th floor, besides a gorgeous view of Lutyens Delhi and lush greenery of the city, this particular suite is a melting pot of Indian culture, courtesy the very sombre interiors. © Youtube Silk panelled walls, a peacock themed private dining room for 12 people, a mini spa and a gym are some of the basics that are a part of this luxury. As per reports, the rooms have been stocked with diet Coke and Cherry Vanilla ice cream, which is said to be his favourite. The âChanakyaâ suite also has an exclusive access to a business courtyard and a summit lounge. The menu will obviously be a delectable spread curated by the brilliant team at Bukhara, the super famous Indian themed restaurant at the ITC Maurya Sheraton. The team has reportedly designed a POTUS platter which will include some tandoori delicacies, baked dishes and a full time butler will be at the familyâs service. The Chanakya suite spans across a whopping 4800 sq feet and costs around Rs 8 lakh a night, in case someone wants to splurge and indulge in some serious shenanigans. Also, the air quality inside the suite is at par with the WHO standards. Besides catering to US Presidents, other dignitaries which have called this plush suite their home for a day include Dalai Lama, Tony Blair, Vladimir Putin, King Abdullah and the Sultan of Brunei. 14. Looks like giving expensive gifts to each other is the latest trend in Bollywood. Either that or our Bollywood celebs are low-key increasing the sale of BMW. Recently, Bollywood's 'Dabangg' Khan, Salman Khan, gifted a Rs 1.55 crore BMW M5 to his co-star Kichcha Sudeep. Now, actor John Abraham has surprised his friend, fellow bike enthusiast and Pagalpanti co-star Arshad Warsi, with a BMW F750GS. Everyone knows that actor John Abraham loves bikes. What people may not know is that he loves his friends equally or more than he loves bikes. And Arshad Warsi can vouch for the same. Reportedly, John had earlier sent a picture of BMW F750GS that is worth Rs. 12 lakh to Arshad and asked him whether he liked it. He thought John wanted his suggestion on the bike. Sunday morning ride in the best city in the world, my city #Mumbai pic.twitter.com/b3IbxYtrCm — Arshad Warsi (@ArshadWarsi) January 12, 2020 Obviously, you don't expect your friends to randomly send you a picture of a bike because they want to give it to you! Apparently, John Abraham did exactly that. Although Arshad said not to give him the bike, he sent it over anyway. Arshad, who is a proud owner of a Ducati and an Indian scout, took to Twitter to thank John and wrote "Thank you @TheJohnAbraham for the Beamer. I bless you every time I take it for a ride. Director Sanjay Gupta shared its first look and wrote, "One of my favourite moments from Mumbai Saga. And of course Mr. Abraham like never before." 15. Restaurant reservation app Dineout recently published a fascinating annual report, and amongst a list of interesting statistics, one in particular stands out. It seems like the city of Bengaluru has become an undisputed dining hotspot, with one man footing a bill of Rs 2,76,988 at a pub, while another watering hole clocked in over 1 million diners. That's a lot of dishes to wash and bottles to recycle. In fact, the bill is so ridiculous, it's just about what you'd pay to step out of a showroom with a brand new Maruti Alto or Datsun Redi-Go. Not interested in a car? The bill could also cover a trip to London and back again - in Emirates first class seats. Meanwhile, Udaipur stepped up as well - it seems like the 'City of Lakes' played host to the biggest number of couples, with the highest number of 'tables for two'. Indore had the most 'tables for four' reservations and oddly enough, seemed to dine out most often on Thursdays - 60% of Indians dined out on weekends, specifically. With the rise of restaurant culture in India's metros and a no-cooking lifestyle emerging across India's urban youth, it's not surprising that Indians dined out over 5 billion times last year, with 52% of us preferring to dine at casual restaurants as opposed to fast food outlets and fine dining options. Close to 4566 tables were reserved per hour, and the average bill value for dining out was Rs 1600, whereas for ordering in, it was Rs 300. It's also interesting to note that Indians are pretty late eaters - the global average dinnertime sits between 6PM and 8PM, while desi dinners usually happen between 8PM and 10PM. Gotta' blame post-work traffic for that one. So if you're worried that you've been spending too much on dining out, don't worry. You're certainly not alone. View the full article
  16. The Motor Vehicles Act, amended by the Parliament last year, simply states that if you violate traffic rules and regulations, you will definitely pay a much greater fine, and might also face longer imprisonment, than what existed before. The several penalties for violating traffic rules have been hiked up to five times under this amended act. Most penalties are a reiteration of pre-existing traffic rules, which the public is aware of, whereas some of these penalties are new. And now we have a crazy challan incident yet again. Remember the helmet-less man on the scooter who paid a challan of Rs 23,000? If you think that was huge, read further about this incident in Ahmedabad. According to a report in NDTV, a Porsche owner was stopped at Helmet crossroads in Ahmedabad as the car did not have number plates. On being questioned by the traffic police, the driver also failed to produce valid documents of the vehicle. The car was issued an RTO memo under Motor Vehicles Act in November last year and was initially fined for a huge sum of Rs 9.8 lakh. However, later the RTO found out old records and many more violations and finally, the driver was imposed a penalty of Rs. 27.68 lakh. Check out the Ahmedabad Police's tweet https://t.co/KDjkhssFhO — Ahmedabad Police (@AhmedabadPolice) January 8, 2020 If you're wondering how did the amount sum up to be this much? Well, here's how. According to Indian Express, Police sub-inspector M B Virja said, “This car was imported in 2017. Though the owner had initially registered the vehicle in Haryana, the number plates were missing when the car was impounded." "Since the car is now in Gujarat, the RTO calculated the lifetime tax, interest on unpaid tax and penalty at Rs 27.68 lakh. The owner took back his car on Tuesday after showing us the receipt," he added. The owner of the car, Ranjit Desai paid Rs 27.86 lakh to the RTO that were pending and took back his Porsche 911 sports car from Ahmedabad Traffic Police. View the full article
  17. How far will go you to 'eat' something you love? Order a pizza twice a week? Go to Starbucks and get your dose of a special shot of coffee once a week? Okay, but what if one craves something which cannot be probably ordered on Zomato, for example, talcum powder. Lisa Anderson, a 44-year-old English woman who stumbled upon Johnson & Johnson baby powder while giving her young one a bath, has been addicted to eating it and can easily devour a 200 gm tub by herself in a day. © Twitter/DailyMail Lisa is addicted to the point where she needs to lick it off every 30 minutes and sometimes wakes up during the night to eat it when the pangs of hunger attack her. Also, she has spent over 8000 pounds (around Rs 7.5 lakhs) on buying talcum powder for oral consumption. She kept this a secret for over a decade before finally seeking professional help for this disorder. One might associate with Pica, which is a disorder where a person is obsessed with eating non-food items like paint, clay or in Lisa's case, talcum powder. Mother reveals she has an addiction to eating Johnson's Baby Powder https://t.co/8acknKdn9p — Daily Mail U.K. (@DailyMailUK) January 6, 2020 In an interview, she explained her undying hunger for talcum powder. “I've always had it [talcum powder] in the house and would douse myself with it after having a bath or shower. I'd use it on the kids after giving them a wash no problem. And then one day I remember being in the bathroom and the smell was just overpowering. There was a bit of dust that had come off the top of the bottle. I had this sudden urge to eat it and I just couldn't fight it. I just licked it off my hand and really enjoyed it. It just hit this spot. It was satisfying a craving I never knew I had.” Let's hope she gets all the help she needs to fight this addiction as her life is important not for her own sake but for the sake of her five children as well. 19. What are you doing Marcus Stoinis? As the calendar turns to a whole new decade, the perception towards the relationship between competitive sports and socially unacceptable remarks continues to remain awry. The latest case of an athlete losing his sane mind in the name of 'getting caught in the moment' comes at the hands of Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. During a Big Bash League match between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars, Stoinis reportedly threw homophobic slurs at former Aussie teammate and pacer Kane Richardson. After reviewing the incident, Cricket Australia slapped the cricketer with a AUD 5,700 (Rs. 3.7 lakh approx.) fine. Stoinis admitted that he was wrong in commenting on Richardson's sexual preference and willingly accepted the hefty fine. "I got caught in the moment and took it too far," Stoinis apologised after the match. "I realised immediately I was in the wrong and I apologised to Kane and to the umpires." "I did the wrong thing and accept responsibility for my actions. The standards are there for a reason and I accept the penalty," he added. “I got caught in the moment and took it too far. Marcus Stoinis has apologised and been fined $7500 for aiming a homophobic slur at Kane Richardson ð https://t.co/NqxigZEoWd pic.twitter.com/A0NnVjm7fa — Fox Cricket (@FoxCricket) January 4, 2020 However, many including the former Australian opener Simon Katich, believe that the fine wasn't strict enough and that Stoinis got off easy. “I'm not sure a financial punishment is the right way of going about it, given we've had a couple of instances of this throughout the summer now,” Katich said on SEN radio. “It's something they'd be pretty keen to stamp out.” Simon Katich pulls no punches on SEN pic.twitter.com/BZMrTOKWDk — Daniel Brettig (@danbrettig) January 5, 2020 “I'm not sure a financial penalty in this day and age, when players are very well looked after, is that significant, " Katich added. “The behaviour in this matter falls short of the standards we expect and we have acted accordingly,” Cricket Australia's head of integrity Sean Carroll said. “There is no place for it in the game.” What's worse is that such homophobic remarks were made by an Australian cricketer just months after right-arm pacer James Pattison was banned from the first Test against Pakistan and faced the same level-two fine for similar offence. The only difference was that it was Pattison's third instance while Stoinis did something like this for the first time. Here's how Twitter users feel about the incident: James Pattinson misses a Test for something similar and Stoinis gets a fine? I know Patto had priors, but that seems a little unbalanced. — ðFlashScore Cricket Commentatorsð (@FlashCric) January 4, 2020 The Australian team now full of cheats and homophobes. — tired (@Chris91821311) January 5, 2020 Am pleased he was called on his behaviour and fined ... no excuse for homophobic anything! — Hear Our Voice (@HearOurVoice7) January 5, 2020 @CricketAus This is the reason I will never support Cricket in this country. 21. Throwing away garbage is part of daily chores for us. But wait! What if you accidentally throw away money with the garbage? Well then, not all of us would get as lucky as this British couple. In a bizzare incident, according to a report in Daily Hunt, a couple threw away Rs.14 Lakh in the garbage and luckily, it ended up at a recycling centre. The couple from England's Burnham-on-Sea "unknowingly" threw away that amount which was hidden by a deceased relative. © BCCL The couple, as per the reports, were cleaning the house of a deceased relative and had taken a bunch of boxes to the recycling centre. A worker at the recycling centre was checking the boxes for an electric cable when he stumbled upon the money. Subequently, he called the Avon and Somerset Police and alerted them about the same without taking any money for himself. Cops, suggest reports, checked the CCTV footage and further identified the car in which the boxes were dropped. Then with the help of the car's registration number the cops found the couple's home address. The couple informed the cops that their dead relative was in a habit of hiding money in different places around the house. However, they weren't expecting it to be in a box full of junk. Later the cash was handed over to the couple and the police department took to Facebook to thank the honest staff member. They wrote, “We would like to say a big thank you to the staff at the recycling center. Without their diligent attitude, integrity, and assistance, the family would never have known about the money found, and we would not have been able to return it to them, especially in time for Christmas". It's for such honest people like this staff that the world is still a better place to live. View the full article

  23. Apple's new Mac Pro desktop machine just recently went on sale in India and it can cost you as much as Rs 38 Lakh. If that's not enough to leave your eyes wide open, then wait till you hear about the new Pro Display XDR. In case you remember, Apple also launched a new monitor to go along with the new Mac Pro machine. It's called the Pro Display XDR, and it's one of the best displays Apple has ever made. After the Mac Pro machine, Apple has now started selling the new Pro Display XDR in India, and it's just as expensive as we thought it would be. © YouTube/ Marques Brownlee Pricing and AvailabilityApple is going to sell the base variant of the Pro Display XDR for Rs 4,49,900. Yes, it's a monitor that costs Rs 4.5 Lakh. The base variant of the monitor comes with a standard glass on the front. If you want the one with a nano-textured glass, then it'll cost you Rs 5,29,900. It's also worth pointing out that the Pro Display XDR will not ship with a stand. Yes, you'll have to buy it separately and it'll cost you another Rs 91,900. We are trying very hard to resist kidney jokes here! But jokes aside, both the Mac Pro machine and the Pro Display XDR are made for professionals. Both the Mac Pro and the 6k monitor, as you probably already know, is overkill for an average user. Whereas for professionals and artists working on movies, shoots, music, etc. it's an ideal system that's going to keep up with their workload for a very long time. View the full article
  24. A man in Bengaluru is looking for his stolen 'Samsung' and if anyone helps him find it, that person will be rewarded with Rs. 1 lakh. Wait, what? Yes, you read it right. The reward is hefty because his 'Samsung' is reportedly worth Rs. 8 crore. By now I know what most of you are thinking - Which Samsung model does thing guy have? Since when did Samsung start making phones that were priced at Rs. 8 crores? But you know what I am thinking about? Who names their dog 'Samsung', seriously. Folks, the stolen Samsung in question is actually a three-year old Alaskan Malamute, which was imported from Beijing, China a couple of years ago by Sathish. Sathish, who is the owner of Cadaboms Kennels and the president of the Indian Dog Breeders' Association, told Bangalore Mirror "I imported Samsung from China for Rs. 8 crore, two years ago when she was a one-year-old pup". © Twitter Reportedly, Sathish gave Samsung to a family since they bonded with the dog so well. However, there was a condition, the family can keep the dog but when it gave birth to pups they can only keep one and give the rest of the litter to Sathish. However, when Sathish asked the family to send Samsung to him for his birthday, the family started making excuses. After some time, when he sternly asked them about Samsung, the family revealed that the dog was stolen. © wikimedia for representation According to a report, he and the family then lodged a complaint at the Hanumanthanagar police station and also circulated the dog's pictures on social media and announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh. People say that a dog is a 'hooman's' best friend and the most loyal companion. Only dogs can love you unconditionally and not expect anything in return. They can even take a 'shot' for you, unless of course you're taking them to a vet, then it's a different story altogether. So it's only fair that we humans give them all our love and protect them with all we can. Recently, we came across a woman from San Francisco who loves her dog so much that when he got lost, stolen to be accurate, she announced a reward of $7000 i.e. close to Rs. 5 lakh to anyone who finds him.
