  1. It is Varun Dhawan's birthday today. The actor, who impressed everyone with his portrayal of Zafar in 'Kalank' (let's not talk about the fight scene with a CGI bull), the actor turned 32 today, by 'kicking in' his birthday in Thailand with Muay Thai. View this post on Instagram Kicking in the bday. Thank u for all the wishesð¤ð¼ A post shared by Varun Dhawan (@varundvn) on Apr 23, 2019 at 10:01pm PDT From Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Madhuri Dixit Nene to his girlfriend Natasha Dalal; almost all his friends in Bollywood had all the nicest things to say about Varun and wished him luck. Instagram However, it was actor Arjun Kapoor's birthday wish, who also happens to be Varun's 'chaddi buddy', which caught our attention. Arjun wished him in the most savage way and let's be honest that's what best friends do: they embarass you and make fun of you. But, you still love them and can't live without them. Although everyone thinks Arjun and Ranveer are best bros, here are some moments that prove Arjun and Varun are 'best friend goals' and have been constantly redefining brocode under our nose. 1. Their Mutual Hatred And Now Love For Katrina Kaif If you are someone who has never heard of 'I Hate Katrina Kaif' fan club, then chances are you were living under a rock all this time. And since you didn't know about the club, you wouldn't know that Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor were the proud founders or admins of this club. Recently they underwent a change of heart and turned the club's name to 'We Love KK' and gave her a Dalmatian trophy too. View this post on Instagram So @varundvn & I are starting a new fan club #WeLoveKK aka @katrinakaif !!! Here we are seen awarding her, for absolutely no reason whatsoever... PS - the Dalmatian trophy Katrina's holding represents our faithful friendship kyunki yeh dosti #firstclass hai !!! ððð A post shared by Arjun Kapoor (@arjunkapoor) on Mar 27, 2019 at 5:32am PDT 2. When Arjun And Varun Trolled Each Other On Koffee With Karan 'Koffee With Karan 6' was undoubtedly the most happening season of all time. While Arjun and Varun came seperately this year, they once appeared together and rocked the episode like no one else. For instance, when Arjun threw shade on Varun. Varun: "I was consistent in my performance." Arjun: You were consistently bad." Or when Varun revealed, "You have no idea what roles we've played in acting school. I've played a dog and he's played my master. I've played a waiter and he's played a coconut seller." Twitter 3. Their Bromance On Twitter This one time they walked the ramp ahead of the release of 'Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya' and Arjun wrote on Twitter, "How can anyone stay angry with Badri? Walking like a baausss badristyle!!!" To which Varun replied "Arjun bhaiya tum hamara bahut good friend ho." Twitter 4. They Always Have Each Other's Back In one of the interviews, Varun said "I am very open to criticism. Usually, I take criticism from my friends, family, Karan Johar. When you act with a lot of people, there are very few who would like to criticise you but I have got a few, like Arjun (Kapoor) would criticise me when he gets a chance, which is very often." No matter how much they troll each other or their acting, Varun and Arjun always have each other's back. Twitter 5. His Savage Birthday Wish Since we are talking about his birthday, how can we not talk about his birthday post. From calling him a coolie, marketer to the child who refuses to grow up, Arjun's birthday wish looks like our regular conversation with our bros. We'll give you weird names, make fun but will ALWAYS wish and want the best for you. View this post on Instagram My Brother from another Mother... Humare Guruji, our #VDin3D the street dancer, the coolie, the marketer, the child who refuses to grow up... Happy Birthday @varundvn hope u lay the smack down on this coming year !!! Ps - This amazing double role image brought to u by @shanoosharmarahihai !!! A post shared by Arjun Kapoor (@arjunkapoor) on Apr 23, 2019 at 10:11pm PDT
  2. The unthinkable yet somehow predictable thing has happened. Yes, my friends, 'Avengers: Endgame', the movie that we have been waiting for since forever, has unfortunately been leaked on Tamilrockers before its release. Although, I am pretty sure Marvel fans like me are not going to go anywhere near that site. Also, given that over a million people have already booked their tickets, this leak should not really be a problem for Marvel. What concerns me now is the heightened opportunities for possible spoilers, given that we are surrounded by miserable people, so just steer clear of social media till Friday. 'Avengers: Endgame' releases this Friday.
  3. 'Game of Thrones' has everything- wars, deceit, conspicuous plot line, twisted relationships and the Stockholm syndrome! How, you ask? Well, the two most 'uninitiated' characters when it comes to love are secretly falling for each other and it all happened when one of them was captive! I am talking about Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth and just how obvious their equation seems to us now. If you look at their character build up though, both are similar in many ways. They both are quite practical when it comes to war and strategies, both are extremely emotionally unavailable and detest confronting their feelings, both have egos mightier than their own sword, both do have a soft spot for each other and they both share a sword each, yielded out of a common sword! And yet, their story is remarkable the most unanswered, yet anticipated yet. © HBO Yes, Jon and Dany were already decided as the star romance when the show even began. It just took Jon to come to Dragonstone where they fell in love almost immediately and their story unfolded in a rush. But Jaime and Brienne's underrated romance began a lot before that, with a subtle yet beautiful built up in their narrative together as two highly unlikely souls, who'd feel a certain way about each other. © HBO But their romance is not just a declaration of two characters feeling a certain way for each other to build a story in GoT, it actually teaches us a lot about resilience and respect. Right from when Brienne met Jaime till the day he knighted her, both felt an unnerving need to protect and respect each other. GoT has taught us a lot but this one equation is something that has evolved over time, beautifully and unexpectedly. © HBO (1) The Sense Of Protection Jaime initially met Brienne when Brienne took him as her prisoner to take him back to King's Landing on Catelyn Stark's orders. Jaime then was a pompous egoistic knight, who'd barely think of anyone but himself and that didn't make the journey easy for Brienne. Along the way, they were kidnapped by House Bolton loyalists and on an account of saving Brienne being raped, Jaime ended up losing his right hand, while trying to save her, in his first act of kindness for anyone else, other than his sister. In another situation, Jaime's rode back to Harenhal to save Brienne from the bear pit, where she was left to fight a bear alone and not allowed to go back to King's Landing with Jaime. Jaime came back for her, rescued her and took her back. This need to protect someone so fiercely is only palpable when there is a certain amount of love present for the person. Even Brienne spoke up for Jaime when he was questioned by Daenerys in season 8 episode 2. She spoke up to protect his honour and tell the queen that she can trust him. © HBO (2) The Endless Respect The character build-up for the two of them together started on the fundamentals of respect. Both gave each other enough space to grow and cherish the other. If you remember in season 4, before Brienne was leaving King's Landing, Jaime gifted her a suit of armour from the mix he made from remembering her measurements! It goes on to say, both were playing on each other's vulnerabilities beautifully. If you remember their bath scene from Harrenhal, Brienne let him be at his vulnerable best while he opened up to her. And since she was naked with him there, he remembered her measurements to make her the perfect armour! This aspect of respect and honour is very rare and Martin tried his best to cultivate it from these two characters on the show. © HBO (3) The Beautiful Vulnerability & Honour Of that famed Harrehal bath scene, Jaime confesses the truth behind killing the Mad King, something he's never done before with anyone. He's sad and he's lonely and she literally holds him in her arms at his vulnerable best. That binds the simplicity of their relationship in a way, that's comforting and warm. The act of love is the strongest when you open up to someone and they embrace you right after you finish talking about it and that's what Jaime did when Brienne held him at the bath. Not just that, in season 8, episode 2, Jaime calls Brienne out to knight her. She's sceptical about it because in season 5 she tells Pod “I don't want anyone following me. I'm not a leader. All I ever wanted was to fight for a lord I believed in.” But here when Jaime asks her to come forth and become a knight, Brienne in her vulnerable moment looks at Pod, who nods in assurance of her becoming a knight. It's a beautiful scene, where someone Brienne looks up to thinks she's worthy of an honour this high. © HBO We're not sure what's next for Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister. Both are warriors who will do their duty wilfully. Jaime is thankful towards Brienne for changing the way he sees things and Brienne is thankful to him for always protecting her. It seems unlikely both with survive the Night King's army but if they do, we know what true love will really look and feels like. But let's face it, nothing lasts forever in GoT and all we can do is reminisce some good times both Ser Jaime and Ser Brienne shared together.
  4. The Madras High Court today lifted the ban on TikTok, a video-streaming app which was blocked by Google and Apple on their app stores more than a week ago. Yes, it means the app will now soon be available for download again in the country. Following yesterday's Supreme Court order directing the High Court to decide on the question of the interim relief of the app, the matter was taken up today and the Bench of justice N Kirubakaran and SS Sundar lifted the ban after hearing TikTok's submissions. © Tik Tok Senior Advocate Isaac Mohanlal appeared in court for TikTok and noted that there is a technology in place to ensure that no nude/ obscene content is uploaded through the app. Additionally, TikTok also made submissions on the steps taken to counter the issues raised by the court following the ban. It is, however, worth pointing out that the app is not yet available for download. But it's only a matter of time until we start seeing the app on both the Google Play Store and App Store. So, brace yourself, the crying TikTok boys are going to be back again.
  5. Introduced to the world in 1873 in a totally different context, denims have become an integral part of our lives today. What started out as men's attire, has now become a staple separate of people around the world. The term jean owes its origin to the Italian city of Genoa where the fabric was first made, dyed blue even in those days (hence called blue de Genes or literally blue of Genoa). The dye came from Indian Indigo extracted from the plant which was first domesticated in India. Although a plethora of innovative materials are available in the market, denim remains one of the most ingenious, protean, durable and highly sought after fabrics on the market. It is one of the only items of clothing to transcend gender, age, and class - having a long and interesting life to date. The reason for their fruition has as much to do with their cultural meaning as their physical construction. On the occasion of World Denim Day we will walk through the journey of this wonder garment detailing the phases of its evolution and popularity: 1950s - The Birth Of Cool Jeans Teenagers embraced blue jeans in the 1950s when Hollywood movies introduced jeans as a fashionable statement piece of rebellion against the status quo. Light washes, cuffed denim styles and black basic jeans were the regnant jeans trends among men. Women rarely wore denim during the 1950s. 1960s - Jeans As Counter Culture Fashion 1960sgave birth to and nurtured the hippie culture. The youthful, free love movement that rocked American culture encased the most classic casual blue jean, which was representing the freedom from more structured pieces of clothing. In the prevalent decade of creative expression through the sense of fashion, personalizing the denim was considered very groovy. Embroidered bright colors with stone washed finishes and patches were just a few of the dominant jean trends at the time. Popular cuts included bell bottom flares and low-rise hip huggers. Denim on denim also embarked its first real appearance as a fashion trend during the 1960swhen jean jackets became standard hippie wear. 1980s -The Birth of Designer Jeans Stone wash, acid wash, and ripped jeans were some of the most in-demand looks of this decade, along with the new, skinnier leg cuts with tapering detailing at the ankle. 1990s - Baggy Jeans Denim fashion changed its face yet again in the 1990s, as the grunge era in fashion began. In this decade, jeans became more about slouchy, casual style than something one would prefer as a dress up essential. Multiple pockets and tabs, head-to-toe denim ensembles with dungarees and dresses were among the trendier looks which were in vogue among younger women. The rise of hip hop brought about a rise in the popularity and preference of baggy jeans, for men. 2000s - Skinny Jeans Take Over In the early 2000s, pop stars popularized the trend of ultra low-rise jean. Denim also became a fashion staple once again, becoming an appropriation and necessity. Flare and boot cut denim were among the most popular cuts of the early 2000s and a hit in an array of washes. But the biggest revolution in the denim style story of the decade began in the mid-to-late 2000s, with the resurgence of the skinny jean as an offering of innovations in denim stretch technology. 2010s- Higher Waists and Cropped Legs The trend in denim fashion headed towards variety, although skinnier styles for women remained the most popular by a huge margin, and are a fashion mainstay for most women, because of their versatility. High-waist jeans had their own segment of popularity. 2019 – GYMJNS This is slated to be the next evolution in denims with features like a '4-way dynamic stretch' or an 'ergonomic construction,' making denims perfect for workouts as well. Keeping in mind the demand for something cool, durable and versatile to match the fast-paced life of a millennial, GYMJNS are designed for the outrageously stylish fitness enthusiast. The first brand to introduce these denims is Spykar. These denims are ideal for those who like to pack their day with many exciting things including work-outs. What makes them a wardrobe must-have is their super comfortable and stretchy nature with a great fit and sporty styling. Author Bio: Mr Abhishek Yadav is the Head of Design for Spykar Lifestyle.
  6. Over the years, the world of cricket has witnessed numerous stars who've managed to capture the imagination of fans and etch their respective names in the history books, owing to their success on the field. But, no one comes close to the stature or popularity of great Sachin Tendulkar. His perfect balance and precision in stroke-making didn't just help the 'Master Blaster' to terrorise the opposition bowlers, but also allowed him to be looked upon as a case study for budding talents across the globe. But, his greatness wasn't derived from his exploits on the field alone. The right-hander's batting genius was backed by a calm and composed demeanour, both on and off the field, which is why he continues to be an adept role model, almost six years after his retirement. Here's wishing the Master Blaster a very happy birthday ðð° On this special day, we take a look at his iconic ODI double ton against South Africa ðð Watch it here ð¹ð¹https://t.co/Ca2j3GWhEW #Legend #HappyBirthdaySachin pic.twitter.com/9YBfJlyGYR — BCCI (@BCCI) April 24, 2019 So, on 24th April, when Tendulkar turned 46, there was no surprise to see cricket fans and pundits across the globe pouring in heartfelt wishes for arguably the biggest cricket icon the game as ever known. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wished Tendulkar with a throwback video of his iconic ODI double ton against South Africa, the International Cricket Council (ICC), too, had something special up their sleeve. On the other hand, Indian cricket stars also wished the batting great with touching messages on the social media. 7. Fans can be very passionate about their favourite celebrities. After all, for fans, movies can be inspirational, life-changing, and a major influence in their lives. As a tribute, they get elaborate tats, spray paint their faces and even get a quirky haircut in the name of celebrities that they love and adore. Especially after 'Singham', Ajay Devgn had gained massive traction. The Indian audience seems to love a badass cop who is willing to fight the evils of the society while putting his life at stake. This one particular fan loved Devgn enough to get his face imprinted on his head in the form of a haircut. This obviously could be a work of none other than Aalim Hakim. Must tell ya'll this sweet lil incident about a die hard fan of @ajaydevgn Sir! 27 year old Rajwinder & his brother Gurwinder from Punjab Muktsar District run a hair salon there. 8. "When I had moved to Mumbai for the first time with big Bollywood dreams, it was Bhaiya who asked me to move back. He said I wasn't ready. To be honest, that perhaps was the best advice anyone could have given me at the time..." quips Aparshakti, with unparalleled candour, while talking about his unique relationship with his elder brother Ayushmann, and the chemistry they share. © MensXP The fact that Aparshakti is the younger brother of the one and only Ayushmann Khurrana, came to the mainstream consciousness much later, when he already had carved a niche for himself as a rock-solid 'supporting actor', another topic he deals with maturity, with a side of unapologetic practicality and humility, reflected on his spirited countenance. © MensXP "What is wrong with being a supporting actor? I have never understood the side-eye supporting actors receive in the industry. If you are an actor who is true to his craft, you will take up every role as the role of a lifetime. I have played the role of a supporting actor in 7 different films, and given a choice, I won't change a thing!". As he moves on to the much-deserved mainstream stardom now, Aparshakti still looks at all the roles he has played with utmost reverence and fondness, something which is a rarity within the B-Town glam and glitz. © MensXP Aparshakti is wearing: Denim Dhoti - Nicobar, Denim Sherwani - Zara, Footwear - Gucci, Eyewear - Vedi Vero @kapooropticalco On being asked about how it felt, to have been handed supporting roles, despite being the sibling of an A-lister, Aparshakti was quick to dismiss the question. "I count it as a blessing. I honestly do. Having played so many roles as a supporting actor, I now feel like I am finally ready. It prepares you, it makes you realize the value of the place at the top, and most importantly, it teaches you lessons which no acting class can teach." In an industry supposedly rife with nepotism, the fact that Ayushmann never used his stature to create a platform for his own brother, is something Aparshakti is thankful for, because that singularly made sure that the success he has achieved over time, is anything but ephemeral. © MensXP Aparshakti is wearing: Jacket - Bershka, Lowers - DNA, Shoes - Off-white, Eyewear - Gucci @kapooropticalco, Watch - Gucci "One thing I shall always remember, is a line Bhaiya told me about Mumbai. When he told me to go back and prepare better, he ended the conversation with a line: 'Yeh shehar khud bulaata hai' (This city calls you itself)." While most A-listers advise their relatives to go to the gym and work on their appearance and fashion sense before their Bollywood debut, Aparshakti fondly remembers Ayushmann giving him a no-nonsense piece of advice, that ultimately proved to be life-changing for him. "He told me to actively pursue acting in the theater for 4-5 years. He told me acting is an art and a craft, and requires training and practice, just like any other art form. Thank God he was wise enough to give me the advice, and I took it seriously." © MensXP "But how did it all start? Did you always want to become an actor? What's the story?" "I honestly have no idea how or when. I recall one incidence from my school days, that helped my self-confidence skyrocket. When I was in the 9th standard, there used to be a trophy of sorts for the 'best student' of the batch, and their name used to be published in the newspaper. I was a pretty average student, you know, when it came to academics. However, I used to be good with my extracurricular activities - sports, drama, music etc., which ensured that I won a lot of prizes and trophies. The Principal of the school used to take a call on who to choose as the best student, and to my shock, my Principal, Rajni Thareja Ma'am, chose me. I later heard that she was questioned by everyone about her seemingly odd choice, in response to which she took them to the staff room, and pointed towards all the trophies I had won in extra-curriculars. 'He's a special kid' - she had said. Till date, I am grateful to her." © MensXP "Also, I did not know what I wanted for a long time, and honestly just went with the flow. I studied Law for 5 years and got my LLB degree. In fact, I worked at the Delhi High Court for a while, can you imagine? I also worked as a Radio Jockey for quite some time, and it was way after that, I started thinking about doing more with my life. The acting bug finally bit me, and then started a whole new phase of preparation, which perhaps taught me more about life than anything else. I had to face everything a newcomer faces in the industry, and I had to work my way up. There was no other way, and I'm glad it was the way it was, because it made me a stronger person, in ways I had not fathomed earlier." © MensXP Aparshakti is wearing: Outfit - SixPM, Eyewear - Carrera, @kapooropticalco, Wrist Band - Louis Vuitton, Shoes - Dolce & Gabbana, Trolley - Rimowa @Off-white On being asked about how the family dynamics are at home, Aparshakti candidly chuckles. "It's as normal and desi as it gets. I believe both Bhaiya and I get our strict work ethics from our father, and I wish to achieve the patience levels of mom, but I don't think I can ever reach there. She is the most patient, graceful, calm, and composed person I have ever met in my life. Bhaiya gets it from her." © MensXP Aparshakti is quick to point out, however, that he also grew up with the same set of struggles every Indian youngster faces. "I was working as a Radio Jockey, and I was fairly successful. I was doing well, and was financially secure too. Even then, there were relatives and neighbours who would unapologetically throw the annoying question: Lekin beta, kaam kya karte ho?", he sighs, before bursting out in a bout of dismissive laughter. © MensXP "What makes you happy?" "My work makes me happy, of course. But other than that, I'd say seemingly small, insignificant things, that perhaps others won't get. 'Alone time' is important to me. I love listening to my favourite music while driving... it gives me such immense joy, that is not describable. Also, football. You know, not a lot of things can match up to the the boundless joy of playing an intense match of football on a green field, wet and slippery with heavy rainfall. It is just therapeutic. You end up feeling fresh, instead of being tired. I still enjoy it as much as I did during my teenage years. Also, some quality time with my loved ones and my family never fails to cheer me up...!", he smiles. © MensXP "The trick to be happy, and I really believe that, is to count your blessings every day. Everyone has something to be grateful for, and the moment you realize that perhaps not everyone is fortunate enough to have what you have, happiness just... happens. That gratitude is what keeps me going, on days that are particularly taxing. But I'm happy! I feel life has just started for me, and I can't wait to find out what's next!", he signs off with a faint smile, radiant with gratitude, as he gingerly holds another prestigious award, the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award' for the 'Comic Performance of The Year' to be precise, for 'Stree'. © MensXP Aparshakti is wearing: Denim Short Kurta - Boheco, Jeans - Zara, Footwear - Artimen, Eyewear - Irresistor @kapooropticalco As he moves on to 'greener pastures' now, so to say, with lead/parallel lead roles, he is ready - with experience, validation for his hard work, and most importantly, the unconditional love of the audience that constantly craves for honest, heartfelt performances coupled with raw talent, which is his USP. All we can say is, we wish him all the luck for his upcoming projects, not that he needs any, as he has been proving with every single project, right from the day the city of dreams finally welcomed him with open arms, as his brother had once wisely predicted. 9. We're almost at the finish line. 'Avengers: Endgame' is so close and yet so far. The movie will be the final movie, the culmination of 11 years and 22 movies, and I don't even need to tell anyone how emotional it is to possibly saying goodbye to a lot of characters. The actors themselves have come a long way and have actually made what Marvel Cinematic Universe is today. 10. Arguably one of the best footballers on the planet, Mohamed Salah continues to be a vital cog in Liverpool's title dreams in the ongoing season of the Premier League. For someone who started his career at the left-back position, Salah has thrived as a versatile forward, primarily playing as a winger on the right flank - a position he has made his own ever since arriving at the Anfield. While the recent reports might suggest that the Egyptian star might be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer, there is no denying that Salah is currently on cloud nine, owing to his success on the football field. To add to his ever-growing list of honours, Salah was recently named one of the world's most influential people by the Time magazine. ð©ð¼ð©ð½ pic.twitter.com/K3GCvyIt1Q — Mohamed Salah (@MoSalah) April 18, 2019 The US magazine recognised the impact Salah has had in Egypt, the Middle East, and globally. And, that's exactly why one of the world's biggest magazines chose him as one of the six cover stars for its annual issue. 11. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are, hands down, the most loving couple we have in the B-Town. They make sure that wherever they go they paint the town red with their love. Ranveer has always been quite open in terms of confessing his love for Deepika. Their wedding became the talking point and we couldn't stop gushing about the two of them. Ranveer has time and again given us boyfriend goals and now husband goals. Ranveer has given us one more reason to believe that he is the perfect husband material. Deepika took to Instagram to share a picture of Ranveer with her and Anisha Padukone and captioned it, "cuddles & snuggles! smashed in the middle! @ranveersingh@anishapadukone." Ranveer has wrapped his world in his arms. Well, we might as well say Ranveer is seen chilling with his 'gharwali' and his 'aadhi gharwali'. He will be seen next in Kabir Khan's '83' wherein he will be seen stepping into the shoes of Kapil Dev. Are you waiting to see Ranveer nail the role of Kapil Dev? Let us know in the comments below!
  12. A very faint seismic signal was tracked and recorded by the Insight lander on April 6th as the trembling appears to have come from inside the planet. The recording could have been caught by forces above the surface, such as wind, but now it has been confirmed that it was a legit earthquake. © NASA Scientists are still examining the data to know more about the seismic signal and its origins. The signal was detected by the lander's Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS) instrument. Three very distinct sounds could be heard and all of them were detected as ground vibrations. © NASA InSight heard the “marsquake” using an instrument that contains three ultra sensitive seismometers installed inside a dome. This dome protects the seismometers from external forces like the wind. “We've been waiting months for a signal like this,” said French seismologist Philippe Lognonné. “It's so exciting to finally have proof that Mars is still seismically active.” InSight's two-year mission will continue and there's a good chance that larger quakes will be discovered. “We're starting to have many small quakes,” he said. By the end of the mission, he told Science Magazine, “we'll have a super big quake.” NASA had previously installed seismometers that measured numerous quakes on the moon in 1969 and 1977. While this may not be the first time mankind has detected quakes away from Earth, it is, however, a first to be measured on a distant planet.
  13. Yes I am a straight female, but you can't blame me for being blown away everytime by the superior, fierce beauty of the one and only Khaleesi. Man! Daenerys Targaryen has a similar effect on both men and women, and I totally get it. However, she is a fictional character, and we all know how the wonderful Emilia Clarke does a brilliant job of portraying the iconic character of the Mother of Dragons. But, what if I were to tell you that Khaleesi exists in real life too? Oh yes, she is most certainly real, my friends. View this post on Instagram Bend the knee e scusate se vi sto bombardando. Well, Rory, prepare yourself to have a tidal wave of followers from India now.
  14. Anand Ahuja barely needs any introduction, but let us do a formal one anyway. Yes, he is Sonam Kapoor's husband, but that's not all. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country, who is the owner of the street label 'Bhane', and also the co-owner of 'VegNonVeg' - a multi-brand sneaker store. The 35-year-old entrepreneur's sophisticated style game is noteworthy, and his love for sneakers is infectious. Anand grew up playing basketball, and the culture of sneakers has always been heavily associated with the sport. In 2016, Anand teamed up with Abhineet Singh and Emilia Bergmans, and started India's first multi-brand sneaker store - VegNonVeg. Now, they have collaborated with the celebrated Italian Sports Brand, FILA, and have come up with a limited edition sneaker called the 'Masala Mindblower'. MensXP interacted with Anand Ahuja, as he added another feather to his hat. Talking about the collaboration, Anand said, "VegNonVeg turned three this summer. When we had started, it was all about exploring the market in India in terms of sneakers, and the whole culture associated it. We were always sure that we wanted to make shoes especially for the people here, and that precisely was the idea behind wanting every person to have a 'Masala Mindblower' in their closet." © Anand Ahuja Anand is of the opinion that sneakers have slowly been creeping up in the mainstream style consciousness of India, which we completely agree with. "India is extremely diverse in terms of fashion statements, and sneakers perhaps constitute the only element of fashion that is versatile enough to fit into every domain. We have been very fortunate to get a chance to have had collaborated with FILA, and we're really excited to be honest. It worked out beautifully. We feel that this is only the start, and we have a lot of other brands coming in now." said Anand. © Anand Ahuja Further into the conversation, we asked him about the fashion statement he made by famously wearing sneakers at his wedding reception. While some thought of it as a gutsy fashion move, some went ahead and made 'faux pas' memes out of it, some called it an avant garde statement, while the rest blatantly called it plain funny. We, however, found it extremely edgy because it's not easy to pull off sneakers with a traditional outfit, especially since this was something absolutely unheard of in terms of the mainstream fashion consciousness in India. On being asked about his reaction to the comments and memes floating around, he chucked, "Yes, I read the comments and they were really funny. But people wearing sneakers on occasions has been a trend for quite a while now, you know? We are not creating the culture, it's already there. We are just representing it. I just happened to do it at a place where it got more attention, obviously, because of Sonam. However, everyone liked the fact that I did something different. Even Abhineet (co-owner of VegNonVeg) was wearing sneakers all the time during the wedding functions. I wore it and somehow it became a thing. I had no idea about it. I have been doing it for a while now, but it was anything but a well thought out or a voluntary move with the motive 'let me show something or say something with that'. It's just who I am." With the sneaker culture gaining substantial momentum in the commercial Indian stylescape, the competition is also growing by leaps and bounds, every passing day. The market for sneakers has grown tremendously. Talking about the competition in the shoe sector, Anand said, "The biggest goal for us for now, even before holding our own in the competition, is to encourage the brands to get their best to India. FILA is doing a great job. Thankfully, this collaboration has transformed into a great opportunity for us to prove that Indians appreciate the sneaker culture." © Anand Ahuja When it comes to Anand's conspicuous yet understated sartorial sense, it's a mix of both formal and casual. Be it super sharp suits or denim on denim, Anand slays every aesthetic with his signature inimitable edge. On being asked about the style icons he looks up to, he said, "I have always liked David Beckham's style, even when I was growing up. I also love Anil Kapoor's style game, because he looks as dapper in suits as he looks cool in casuals. I would like to take a little bit of credit here, for pushing AK into wearing sneakers. Harsh and I always try getting him into sneakers, and as it turns out, he rocks it way better than we do. When it comes to stylish men, I think they deserve a spot right at the top." View this post on Instagram @giorgioarmani thanks for sharing your day with @sonamkapoor and I today! ••• cc @genesis_luxury @gqindia @abhilashatd @thehouseofpixels A post shared by anand s ahuja (@anandahuja) on Sep 23, 2018 at 1:13pm PDT Before signing off, we asked him about the two fashion trends he doesn't agree with, and thinks should completely disappear from the scene. "I personally have never loved the chunky shoe trend, but yes, some people really do carry it well. That perhaps is one, and the second one is not really a fashion trend, so to say, but more of an approach to fashion. Don't try too hard, and just keep it simple. One can look absolutely stylish wearing basics such as black denims and white, black, or navy tees or shirts. You can also be very comfortable, apart from looking fashionable, if you wear sneakers with it. What I'm trying to say is men can thrive on basics all the time, while looking great."
  15. 'Mortal Kombat' is often considered to be the fighting genre game that came with a lot of controversy in its first days but also garnered a cult-like following. 'Mortal Kombat 11' redefines the genre yet again with a gripping narrative and addictive gameplay. It's got polish, loads of characters and lore that can give any single player a run for its money. Developer NetherRealm is known for making beautiful and polished fighting games which were prevalent even in the making of 'Injustice 2'. 'Mortal Kombat 11' is yet another product from the same developer but does it deliver a quality experience like 'Injustice 2'? Let's find out how the game fared during the course of our review: Simplicity Is Key A fighting game like Mortal Kombat attracts two types of players: pros and enthusiasts. In order to keep a common ground, MK11 has relatively easy controls and good mechanics that make the game enjoyable. There are four attack buttons (two for punch/kick each front/back) and is combined with some special attacks that are easy to remember if you go through the moves list. © WB Games You no longer can run during a fight which basically changes the way you now fight. You now have to time your attacks and defence with a clear basic strategy. You are better off by chaining short combos with your specials. Even the offence and defence meters have now been separated so that you concentrate on both aspects when fighting. The offence meter charges fairly quick and can be used for your specials whereas the defence meter lets you block or counter your opponent's attacks more effectively. The overall gameplay is a bit slower than previous MK games but we prefer this change. Having said that, there is a bit of complexity to the fighting technique as well if you want to pull off the more hardcore moves. You need to keep everything in mind i.e. special moves, combos, weakness and strengths in order to be the best at this game. We played the game in normal mode as we aren't the best at fighting games especially when playing higher difficulty. You can enjoy the game by just throwing kicks and special moves, but the real fun is in the challenge. Getting fatalities are probably the most exciting bit in this game as it results in some of the most gruesome gore-filled scenes we've ever seen in Mortal Kombat. The Story Mode As soon as we got done with one of the most comprehensive tutorials, we got straight into the story mode. You will embark on a journey that's filled with drama, cheesy interactions and some time travel craziness. You will meet the younger counterparts of your favourite characters along the way, as time has been manipulated by Kronika. She has decided to basically reboot time with the sole purpose of removing Raiden out of existence. © WB Games The time-travel trope is a smart way to give a tribute to Mortal Kombat's history. Liu Kang is finally an important character now and every other character gets some important moment during the course of the story. In fact, the story mode has some of the best cut-scenes we've ever seen in a game and never got bored for even a second. The game itself looks spectacular with detailed character models and some of the smoothest transitions ever. The story mode would transition into a fight without any loading screens or any sort of hiccups. The facial animations are on point and breathe life into characters. Voice acting is also on point apart from Sonya Blade who has been brought to life by Ronda Rousey. Her line deliveries and facial expressions were just weird and not at the same level as the other characters in MK11. What We Didn't Like In the “Kustomization” mode, you can gear up your character with cosmetic skins and functional gear. You cannot customise your skins according to your preference which was a bit disappointing, There are 24 characters you can customise in total and 25 if you've pre-ordered the game. You get Shao Kahn as a playable character which should have been part of the main game in the first place. You can add other things like weapons, helmets and shields but it doesn't really make a huge difference in gameplay. © WB Games Having said that, not all is peachy in this game as the grind is quite real. You will need to earn in-game stuff or currency by either beating arcade-style towers or hit up the Krypt. In the Krypt, you will have to solve a puzzle and open many “chests” by using the in-game currency. These are essentially loot boxes that will upset almost anyone who doesn't want to spend extra money. We've been playing the game for over 18 hours and still haven't managed to unlock anything meaningful. You don't have to pay any real money to open any of these chests but NetherReal is already trying to fix the long grind issue to make it faster for players to unlock items. However, it is entirely optional to go this route as you can unlock character endings from the story mode and “Klassic Towers”. The Final Say Mortal Kombat is probably the best fighting game ever made with addictive gameplay and an entertaining story mode. The mechanics in the game are crisp and easy to learn without even having played any of the previous games. The game looks absolutely beautiful and has one of the most impressive cut-scenes in a game ever. However, the microtransactions and loot box systems were a big turn off as it makes the game very grindy. To be honest, a blockbuster game like 'Mortal Kombat 11' with a massive budget needs to offset those costs somehow. It's still not the best way to go about it but I guess we will have to live with it for now.
  16. The moment I said I was going to attend an eSport event in India, a few of my friends burst out in laughter. They simply couldn't resonate with the idea of sitting in a large room staring at a big screen, watching a bunch of players, well, play a game. If you put some thought into it, then you may even start to think that they have a point. Unlike the appeal of the live experience of a traditional sport, where you can actually see professional players perform in front you, in eSports you're just watching a some players sit like statues and become a part of the computer they're playing on. And on top of that, you literally have to watch one of the big screens that are fitted in front of you to see what the players are doing. It's the exact same content you could consume from the comfort of your couch at home on platforms like Twitch. Then why do people pay big bucks to attend something which they can watch for free without breaking a sweat? © Adela Sznajder/ ESL Well, that's exactly what I was itching to find out. So, I attended one of the biggest eSports event in India last week and I am happy to report that I have a lot to share. And, I mean, a LOT! SPOILER ALERT!! If you're a passionate gamer, then let me tell you that's it's worth every penny you spend. But if you're one, then I am guessing you probably already know that, right? Last week, I attended one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments in the world that's hosted by ESL One. It was the first time I had attended an eSports event ever, and I was filled with mixed emotions. So here I am, pouring my thoughts away to give you an idea of what it's like being a part of an event like this and what goes into putting up such a show. The Arena - Theatrical fanfare! © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer The moment I stepped into the arena, I felt as if I walked into a virtual world. A world, which I had only seen through my computer screen. The stage was lit in red and blue lights, and it was surrounded by big screens, so the entire arena could watch what the players are doing. I entered the arena right before the action, so all I could hear was narratives from commentators coupled with a background sound to build the hype. Together with the lights, commentary, and some base-heavy thumps, the arena felt nothing short of a concert or a pro sporting event like, say, a boxing match. There was some serious energy in there. The arena was also draped with advertising slogans and hoardings of brands like Intel, Vodafone, DHL, and more. And as you can see, there's also a Mercedes standing right smack in the middle, which belongs to the player who's deemed the most valuable throughout the tournament. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer After I found a comfortable seat to settle, the players of the two teams that were about to battle it out in a do-or-die match were introduced. It was 'compLexity Gaming' vs 'The Pango'. The introduction of the roster, mind you, was an enjoyable sight of its own, with players entering the arena from behind us. I could hear the commentator introducing the players with their game-tags instead of their names. Interesting, indeed! “Welcome Naive-, Iceberg, Ghostik, XSvamp1Re, CemaTheSlayer from team Pango; the roster that'll be going against complexity Gaming”, he said. The crowd started cheering and hooting as the players walked through the center towards the stage, waving hands and throwing high-fives. The turn out wasn't overwhelming, but it was enough to fill the room with excitement. © Adela Sznajder/ ESL The players were allowed to walk in on the stage with their own set of peripherals that they are comfortable with, as long as they go through the referee who makes sure that they are not bringing in any exploits to gain advantage in the game. The crowd started settling in for the action, as the players were setting up their rigs and loading the game. I could hear a lot of distant chatter about what the people around me thought the game was going to be like. Each of them were making their own predictions. Honestly, I was quite surprised to see the sheer amount of knowledge some of these people had, and also their involvement in the game. I remember talking to a 'Pango' fan next to me, who started narrating me what the roster should be doing in that particular match to win. © Adela Sznajder/ ESL As the match started, the Dota 2 fans around me started showing their passion for the sport. It's one thing to sit home and watch the players play their game, and a completely different thing to sit among the people who know the game so well that they literally gushed out of their seats in excitement after watching their favorite player pull a solid victory move. It's a great feeling that you'd get only by experiencing the event firsthand live in front of you. I couldn't sit through the entire 'Best of 3' game, since I had I rush for the backstage tour where the real magic happens. But here are some really cool pictures from the event which you probably won't find anywhere else - A Geeky Gathering Backstage The ESL One team was kind enough to take me and a bunch of other journalists for a backstage tour of the event, to show us how their teams were running the show behind the scene. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take any pictures or record video while we were backstage for some obvious reasons, so I suggest you put on your imagination hat and start grasping as much as possible. From massive computer rigs to human-sized machines controlling the lighting system, the backstage is where's it's at. “All the computers that you're going to see here, and on stage are running on the most powerful tech that we can get our hands on”, said Seth Bull, the partner manager at ESL who's taking care of all the backend operation during the event. © Adela Sznajder/ ESL For the record, all the computing power that was necessary to run the operations at ESL One was provided by Intel. “Why we love working with Intel is because they provide us with some of the best and reliable tech we can get our hands on”, added Seth. Seth took through various areas of the backstage like 'Player Lounge', which, as the name suggests is a place where players can hangout after a match. We also saw 'Team Rooms', which is essentially room in which the players gather right before and after a match to discuss or even practice a game or two. As we were rushing through the huge backstage area, I couldn't help but notice the piles of empty monitor boxes that were lying around. Almost all the monitors used at ESL One (or at least the ones I could see) were ASUS monitors. Some of them were the ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q (FHD) while others were the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ (4K) units. From the monitors on-stage to the monitors used backstage by the operations team, ASUS is what I could see. © Adela Sznajder/ ESL The TV Production room was where the real work was being done. There were close to a hundred people working together to make sure that the steam was up and running at all time without any issues whatsoever. Seth made it a point to tell us that the level of production work that was going down inside that room was almost equivalent to what you'd see on high-profile events such a 'World Championship' games, etc. During our tour, the entire production unit was closely monitoring the systems as one of the most anticipated games of the season between “Mineski” and “Natus Vincere” a.k.a “Na'Vi” was underway. We could hear the crowd going crazy behind us as the players were walking on to the stage. Anti-Cheat Measures & Other Exploits “ESL's main team in Cologne, Germany is the one that's monitoring all our game data and keeping an eye out for any sort of anomalies“, said Seth, when we asked him if there were any anti-cheat measures in place. We were also told that ESL works with a lot of companies that provides anti-cheat software for games like Dota 2 and Counter Strike. Again, thanks to Intel, the computers both on and off stage have 'Hot Swap Drive Bay' so that each player has a copy of game ready at all times with all the optimum playable settings. Not only does it helps the team save some time, but it also means that no one can access the game files without authorization and tamper the files in any possible way. Also, there was no internet connection for the computers on-stage, an they all were connected to a LAN, ensuring that there's nothing getting into their systems. Intel's booth Was Fun Too Intel, in case you don't know, is one of the main backers of ESL One eSports event, and the company had set up a huge booth at the event venue. Intel's booth was honestly one of the coolest parts of the event as they had a lot going in there. There were a ton of gaming laptops and custom gaming rigs in the booth, and all of them were open for all visitors to check out. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer I couldn't get good pictures of some of the awesome gaming rigs in the booth mainly because of how packed it was, but I did manage to check out Acer Predator Thronos. Yes, it was the first time checking it out and I am glad that I stopped by. The Predator Thronos, Alienware's Area M51 were clearly some of the coolest products on showcase. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer I also had a chance to sit and talk with Frank Soqui, VP & General Manager, Gaming at Intel. Lee Machen, General Manager, Gaming Sales at Intel and Prakash Mallya, VP and Managing Director, Sales and Marketing Group, Intel India were also present for interaction. I had a great time chatting with them, discussing gaming, hardware, and more. The Final Say Setting up a huge stage like the one at ESL, and putting up such a massive show without running into any technical difficult is not easy feat. Of course, ESL is working with top brands in the industry like Intel to ensure smooth functioning, but handling logistics worth over $2 million is something that's worth appreciating. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer The event, in my opinion, was as much a festival as it was a tournament. Could I have watched the entire event from the comfort of my home? Yes, absolutely! However, I wouldn't have heard the loud cheering or the crowd in real time or I wouldn't have witnessed the enthusiastic gamers literally jump up from their seats to show their excitement. Granted, I haven't experienced some of the bigger sporting events such as the Wimbledon or the Super Bowl yet, but experiencing the ESL One Dota 2 eSports competition with hundreds of strangers will undoubtedly go down as one of the geekiest gigs I've ever been a part of. © Adela Sznajder/ ESL Oh BTW, 'Keen Gaming' beat 'Mineski' to win ESL One Mumbai.
  17. “It ain't over until the fat lady sings,” is probably the weirdest proverb to describe the latest feat achieved by the 25-year-old Indian Wrestler, Bajrang Punia who switched gears in the last few moments of his match against Kazakhstan's Sayatbek Okassov in the finals of Asian Championships in the 65kg category in Xi'an, China. Ever since the world champion Takuto Otoguro decided not to participate for the championships, all eyes were fixed on him, with a nation backing his journey, hoping to see him return to the land with a gold. His confidence and athleticism during the championships too dictated his form and with the way he was negating his competition on his journey to the final, the gold looked to be quite within his grasp, until he went through a real battle against the Kazakh. Struggling on the mat against Okassov initially, Punia was trailing his opponent 7-2. His agility and a solid defense were proving to be overwhelming for the Indian warrior but it was also making his exhaust a lot more quickly. It was only in the final few seconds that the Haryana-fame decided to turn things around in his favour when he launched a quick attack on the Kazakh's legs followed by a three-move combo, collating a total of 10 points in the final minute, winning the gold in the process. à¤à¤ª सबà¤à¥ पà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤° à¤à¤° à¤à¤¶à¥à¤°à¥à¤µà¤¾à¤¦ सॠà¤à¤² #AsianChampionship2019 मà¥à¤ सà¥à¤µà¤°à¥à¤£ पदठà¤à¥à¤¤ पाया... à¤à¤ª सबसॠवादा हॠà¤à¤¿ à¤à¤à¥ भॠà¤à¤ª सबà¤à¥ निराश न à¤à¤°à¥à¤à¤à¤¾ à¤à¤° "à¤à¤²à¤à¤ªà¤¿à¤" मà¥à¤ भॠ"सà¥à¤µà¤°à¥à¤£ पदà¤" लानॠà¤à¥ लिठà¤à¤¡à¤¼à¥ मà¥à¤¹à¤¨à¤¤ à¤à¤°à¥à¤à¤à¤¾à¥¤ à¤à¤ªà¤¨à¤¾ पà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤° à¤à¤° à¤à¤¶à¥à¤°à¥à¤µà¤¾à¤¦ यà¥à¤¹à¥ बनायॠरà¤à¥à¥¤ à¤à¤¯ हिà¤à¤¦ð®ð³ pic.twitter.com/tSmoEDlQG3 — Bajrang Punia (@BajrangPunia) April 24, 2019 Bajrang's greatest assets leading to this moment were probably his endurance and strength. 18. It's only been a few weeks since Nvidia launched its GTX 1660 GPU based on the Turing architecture. And now, the company has just launched a new GPU called the GTX 1650, which carries a price tag of Rs 12,999 in India. The new GTX 1650, in case you don't know, is the third 16-series desktop GPU from the company. With a Rs 12,999 price tag, the GTX 1650 is a perfect entry-level GPU for casual or gamers on a budget. © Nvidia As for the specs, the GeForce GTX 1650 comes with 4GB DDR5 VRAM. It features 896 CUDA cores, a boost clock of 1665MHz, and a total memory bandwidth of 128Gbps. The TDP rating on this particular card is just 75Watts, and it won't need a connector from the PSU as it draws the requisite power straight from the PCI slot. Now, let's talk performance. According to Nvidia, the GTX 1650 will offer twice as much performance compared to something like, say, the GTX 950. So, if you are someone who's using an older GPU from two or three years ago, then this would be a good GPU to look into. Apparently, you can also switch from a GTX 1050 and expect a performance boost. © EVGA As mentioned earlier, the GTX 1650 GPU will go on sale immediately from a bunch of online and offline retailers for Rs. 12,999. However, you may have to shell out a bit more cash depending on what OEMs decide to make. In addition to the GTX 1650 desktop GPU, Nvidia also announced the GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1650 for laptops. You can expect to start seeing the laptops powered by these GPUs in the coming months with a starting price of $800. © Nvidia As for the performance of the 1060 Ti powered laptops, Nvidia says you'll be able to play all modern titles like 'Overwatch', 'PUBG', 'Apex Legends' and 'Fortnite' with frames upwards of 100fps. If you don't mind playing the aforementioned titles at 60fps, then you can also pick up the laptops powered by the GTX 1650. OEMs including Dell, Acer, ASUS Alienware, HP, MSI, etc. will start putting out laptops powered by these GPUs soon. Acer Nitro 5, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G, Dell G5, Gigabyte AERO 15, Lenovo Legion Y7000, etc. are a few of the laptops which you can start seeing in the coming months, according to Nvidia.
  19. Break-ups are tough to deal with. Especially if you've been heavily invested in making something work and it blows up right in your face. Yes, that's difficult to crack, but we all go through a similar pattern of pining for the loved one, missing them, stalking them and eventually letting go of them. But if you truly want to let go of them so you can function better, you have to change that pattern and make your indulgences absolutely minimal post a break-up. Because if you don't, their memory will keep coming up like a really bad itch. © MensXP Location : Andaz Hotel (@andazdelhi) Photographer : Anand Gogoi ( @anand.gogoi) Stylist : Devanshi Tuli (@devanshi.15) Makeup and Hair : Shrishti Anand ( @srishtianandmakeup ) Production : Prapti Elizabeth (@prapti.elizabeth) I am not going to give you a post break up jargon on how to deal with your heartbreak. That is something you have to figure on your own. I am just going to tell you, very practically, what you shouldn't really do, which you tend to do on instinct when you break up. Here are a few break up trends you should avoid to get over your ex and also for you to transition smoothly to the other side: (1) The Blocking Ritual Yes, it's oddly satisfying to block someone out for good and you and should if the relationship you had reminds you of the bad times. But if you look at it practically, blocking leads to more hate and anger than just letting things be the way they are. When you block someone out, you do it because impulsively you're really angry at the person and you don't think twice about it. As time passes by, because you did something out of sheer anger, guilt starts to surpass you making you want to check in on them from time to time. Blocking is a redundant activity which can inevitably hurt you and the other person and it's really not required. If you really want to make a point, let things be the way they are and distance yourself significantly, without out-rightly showing any passive-aggressive rage or malice and that practice will make you forget things easily. © MensXP Location : Andaz Hotel (@andazdelhi) Photographer : Anand Gogoi ( @anand.gogoi) Stylist : Devanshi Tuli (@devanshi.15) Makeup and Hair : Shrishti Anand ( @srishtianandmakeup ) Production : Prapti Elizabeth (@prapti.elizabeth) (2) Turning On Your 'Last Seen' I only mention this here because I knew someone who switched on his 'Last Seen' on Whatsapp right after he broke up with his girlfriend and that didn't do too well for him. Since her last seen was always on, he started noticing her timings on Whatsapp and hurting himself further in the process. In a way that is mid-level stalking but that's nothing to be ashamed of. We've all done it. And yes, it hurts when you see the last time they were online was at 3 am. So, in order to avoid that ordeal, it's best to switch your last seen off. Especially if it was on before. © Pinterest (3) Don't Keep Memories In Your Folder If you hang on to pictures and videos of the two of you together, that'll do you no good. Yes, we live in a digital age and everything is easily accessible but does that mean it can't be deleted? I am not saying delete everything on an impulse and pretend like everything is okay. I am saying, take your time to soak in whatever happened, maybe save a few good memories of the two of you together and delete the rest. That's one of the best ways to move on from a bad break up. © Pinterest (4) Don't Go On A Digital Obsession Mode Like I told you before, this is the digital age in every sense of it so everything is always malleable. It's obvious that you will stalk your ex from time to time to see what they're up to. You'll do it rather aggressively and frequently at first because it's tough to completely cut off at first. That's fine, just don't make it a habit. it'll only make things worse for you. If you really want to stalk, maybe check out some Instagram pages that are open to the public and spend time there instead of obsessing over the one it can't work out with. Let me remind you there are plenty of fish in the sea, even on Instagram! So, do the right thing for your own wellbeing. © Pinterest Once you follow these ways of letting go, you'll evolve in a very progressive way. Who knows you and her can be friends or more in the future? But for now, you need to do what's right.
  20. What started off as a successful (sometimes hit-and-miss) strategy for some directors has now become a go-to mantra for Bollywood, whenever they run out of fresh ideas and concepts- remake another movie. And in the huge ocean of official remakes, another movie has now found its way. After delivering a great performance in 'Kesari' and stepping into the shoes of ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal for her upcoming biopic, Parineeti Chopra is all set to take up another challenging role of her career, as she will reprise the role of Emily Blunt in the official Bollywood remake of 'The Girl On The Train'. © ‎DreamWorks Pictures 'Te3n' director, Ribhu Dasgupta will be helming this project, the name of which is yet to be announced. The American psychological mystery thriller was directed by Tate Taylor and was an adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestselling book of the same name. Emily Blunt was brilliant as Rachel, an alcoholic divorcee, who gets dragged into a missing person's investigation. In fact, she won several awards and nominations for the film. So, naturally, expectations are really high from Parineeti. Hopping onto this thrilling ride! The character is an alcoholic and a victim of abuse, and I haven't explored anything like her onscreen before". Reportedly, the film is entirely based in the UK and is expected to release in 2020.
  21. All of us, at some point, have been swayed by the lure of magical supplements that promise incredible changes to our physique. Whether they were gym owners, gym bodybuilders, local gym gurus or trainers, we've all been duped by them when it comes to supplements. If not, consider yourself lucky! Were these supplements really needed for your progress? Was it worth spending your hard-earned money on coloured alien piss to sip between your workouts? © Getty Images These are the supplements that are pretty much garbage, which your gym guruji may have convinced you to consume: 1. BCAAs: The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are a group of three essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine. They are essential, meaning they can't be produced by your body and must be obtained from food. Claims – Prevent Muscle Breakdown, Decrease Muscular fatigue and Soreness. Reality – If you're consuming 1.6 g/kg of Protein from Dietary sources, adding BCAAs to your plan would be equal to burning your money. 2. Glutamine: Glutamine is an Amino Acid too, which is derived from the Protein we eat. Claims – Muscle Building, Increased Growth Hormone & Muscle Recovery. Reality – Required Glutamine can be easily derived from the protein we eat. Most of the extra Glutamine we take via supplements don't even reach the muscles. It can only be helpful in certain situations like – critically ill people, immune system function and gut health. 3. Mass Gainer: Now, this is the supplement which I hate from the bottom of my heart. The reason? It's useless to the core. You're just paying for the powdered form of carbohydrates and fats which can easily be consumed via delicious food items like bananas, icecreams and pancakes. Now, who on Earth would eat these in powdered form? Claims – Magically increase your muscle mass and weight. Reality – Provides your extra calories in a powdered form which can easily be consumed via normal food. © Getty Images 4. Testosterone Boosters: All of us are aware that Testosterone is the king of all hormones which is required to build muscle. Claims – Magically increase testosterone to unbelievable numbers Reality – Consume foods containing adequate vitamins & minerals, sleep for 8-9 hours and disengage with any kind of harmful addictions. All of this will be more helpful if compared to an ill-dosed testosterone supplement. 5. Dianabol: Dianabol is the legal form of selling oral steroids and my perspective towards people using steroids is neutral. However, taking them without any professional guidance can end up with you possibly losing your life. Claims – Magically increase muscle mass and fast track the process. Reality – Apparently, the claim is right. However, the risk & reward ratio is too high. Could leave you with multiple health risks which may even translate to death. 22. Hunger is one of the main reasons people overeat and gain fat. While this is in the context of general eating, hunger pangs are all the more a problem when you are dieting for fat loss. Why is that? When you go on a diet, two of the main hormones related to hunger and satiety go for a toss. The hormone, being leptin, which plays a role in signalling satiety and ghrelin which signals hunger to your brain. © Getty Images When you diet, leptin goes down and ghrelin shoots up. Results? HANGER (hunger+anger)! So, here are five useful tricks that will help you manage hunger while dieting: 1. Drink More Water Studies have shown that drinking water 15 to 30 minutes before a meal reduces your food consumption considerably, especially for sweet or savoury food items which are usually high in calories. At times, we even confuse thirst with hunger. This makes us eat more when we are just thirsty and we increase our calorie intake by doing this. So, drink a glass of water 30 minutes before your meal. 2. Do Not Drink Your Calories Drinking your calories is the easiest way to finish off your daily calorie limit while not feeling full. Liquid calories, as we call them, are your worst enemies on a diet. Why? a. It is easier to drink a lot of them. b. It does not make you full, even one bit. So, if you are drinking normal sodas, juices, sugary teas or energy drinks, cut them out when dieting. 3. Eat More Protein Protein is considered the most satiating macronutrient. In studies comparing diets with different protein intakes, higher protein diets have shown higher dietary compliance and satisfaction compared to the lower protein counterparts. How much protein should you consume during a fat-loss phase? 1.8 to 2.3 grams per kilogram of body weight. 4. Increase Your Fibre Intake Fibre is another thing to consider if you are struggling with hunger pangs during a diet. Fibre is usually a high-volume, low-calorie food. Meaning, fibre-rich foods are low in calories for a relatively huge quantity. And it slows down digestion and delays gastric emptying. So, if you have the feeling of emptiness even after eating food, including some more fibrous carbohydrates by eliminating starchy carbohydrates might just do the trick. 5. Moderate Your Junk Food Consumption © Getty Images Though I am a thorough proponent of flexible dieting, I am also a huge proponent of moderation. Just because your calories play a major role in determining your weight loss or weight gain, does not mean you eat a majority of junk food while losing weight. Yes, it is possible to even eat exclusively junk and lose weight if you keep your calories under check but is it a wise thing to do? Absolutely not! The reason being that these junk food options are high-calorie low-volume food options making you eat very less food and finish off your calorie targets for the day. This hunger will ultimately make you eat more calories defeating the entire process. Majority of the times, keep your foods coming from unprocessed, nutrient-dense, whole foods and occasionally indulge in the foods you love for better adherence and ultimately results. It's not only in India but we can see it globally. In China, the midnight screenings broke the record of 'Fast and Furious' by three times and that's not really a small thing. It has crushed the previous records and the same is expected in India. Advance bookings have gone berserk and fans have gone crazy. I, honestly, expect mayhem at the box office. 24. PUBG is, without a doubt, one of the most popular battle royale titles of all time. Well, the game developer PUBG Corp. just proved its worth by reporting $920 million in revenue in its first full year since the 1.0 launch, which roughly translates to nearly Rs 6,400 crores. Not just revenue, PUBG Corp. also saw huge profits of a whopping $310 million (roughly Rs 2,143 cr). That's an insane figure considering the fact that these numbers were achieved in just a year. Seriously, just imagine how many chicken dinners you could buy! © PUBG Corp. PUBG was apparently most popular in Asia, and it looks like over 50-percent of the game's revenue came from that region. North America and Europe were other big contributors to PUBG Corp's revenues. These numbers, in case you are wondering, came via VG247, and the report noted that the PC version of the game earned the developer $790 million (roughly Rs 5,400 cr) in 2019. Surprisingly, the numbers from the console and mobile versions of the game were similar. © PUBG Corp. We're looking at about $60 million and $64 million for console and mobile, respectively. It's, however, worth noting that PUBG Mobile is developed by Tencent Games, and it's likely to be cashing in the most from the mobile port of the game.
