  1. A dispute emerged as protests erupted at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar on Friday, with some men apparently yelling "Azadi" chants. Former Indian cricketer and Delhi Capitals veteran, Amit Mishra was appreciated by Indian citizens for showing a lot of courage and speaking out against the incident. On Friday in Srinagar, a dispute emerged as protests erupted at the city's Jamia Masjid, with some men apparently yelling "Azadi" chants. In the month of Ramzan, this was the first congregational prayer held in the big mosque. Jamia Masjid was only recently reopened for prayers after being closed for nearly two years due to Covid-19. People familiar with the situation reported that after Friday prayers, a group of young males inside the mosque yelled the slogans. The protests eventually came to an end, and the crowd departed. Friday prayers in Jama Masjid Srinagar, Kashmir. Slogans are raised for terrorists & "Azadi." The same slogan that was used against Kashmiri Pundits. pic.twitter.com/uicil2Dzsl — Renee (@lifeisgucci5) April 8, 2022 Jamia Masjid is one of Kashmir's largest mosques, and it has played a key role in many significant events throughout the Valley's history. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a Hurriyat leader and the mosque's main priest, used to deliver the weekly sermons here, but he has been under house arrest since August 5, 2019, when Jammu & Kashmir's special status was withdrawn. The debate arises at a time when security personnel and migrant labourers have been targeted in the Valley. Sharing the video of the incident from his official Twitter account, former Indian cricketer and ex-Delhi Capitals veteran, Amit Mishra voiced his disappointment with the people of Srinagar and their chants. He also spoke in favour of the controversial film Kashmir Files, suggesting that the people in the video are also the ones who laughed at the spine-chilling film and called it “based on lies”. Really disheartening. This is also for all those who laughed and called Kashmir Files a movie based on lies. pic.twitter.com/novwlLaQBJ — Amit Mishra (@MishiAmit) April 9, 2022 Hundreds of people on Twitter flocked to Mishra’s post to show their appreciation towards the fearless cricketer who knows very well, about the kind of implications, sanctions and penalties that he might have to face for the remainder of his career for making such gritty comments in public. A cricketer with a spine https://t.co/9DIgLQgohU — Ruthwik (@ruthwik_7) April 9, 2022It feels so proud that finally a cricketer has came forward to raise voice against these Jihadis propaganda to divide the nation. 2. In the game between the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians, Navdeep Saini was seen crumpled up in pain after taking a fine catch in the field to eliminate Ishan Kishan, who looked threatening for a huge score. The speedster was given a chance in the starting XI after the Royals elected to go into the game with only three foreign players, and he did not get off to a great start, allowing a lot in his first over of the season. View this post on Instagram He did, however, take the wicket of Anmolpreet Singh and was ecstatic after returning off the final ball of his first over. At 149 kmph, Saini produced the fastest ball of the match as he's also recognised for clocking some extremely quick deliveries. When Tilak Varma top-edged one of Prasidh Krishna's balls, he had a 50-50 chance at a challenging catch while standing at mid-off, but he couldn't get hold of it. As far as the catch is concerned, Kishan and Varma were up and racing on the chase, robbing the Royals of the game. Sanju Samson's side needed a wicket badly, so the skipper brought in Trent Boult, the most likely pacer to get one. View this post on Instagram Kishan drew a short delivery from Boult into the deep square leg region, where Saini was a touch wider. The Delhi seamer made a fantastic catch, but in the process, he injured his head while sliding down. Despite a head injury, Saini came out to deliver the final over of the innings with 28 runs to defend, and he bowled brilliantly. With the field crowded in the offside, the 29-year-old started with two wides and allowed a four, but managed to bowl straight into the blockhole when it mattered. Saini's spell ended with 2 for 36 in three overs, and he was also impressive on the field. After winning their second consecutive match of the tournament while also maintaining a strong Net Run Rate, Rajasthan Royals have found themselves to be at the very top of the IPL 2022 points table. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians lost both their matches so far and are at seated at 9th place in the points table. View the full article
  3. Bismah Maroof, the captain of the Pakistan Women's Team, arrived with her child at Mount Maunganui today for their first Women's World Cup 2022 match against India Women's Team and has made waves on all social media platforms with just one but a very powerful picture. Due to the pandemic and bio-bubble, the idea of bringing an infant for such an event may seem contentious to some, but the rule is approved by ICC as a benefit of a parental policy and Maroof is simply making the most of it. What a powerful photo. A captain arriving for an India-Pakistan clash with her baby, having given birth recently pic.twitter.com/CjppMgs5EY — Vishal Dikshit (@Vishal1686) March 6, 2022 Previously, Maroof has addressed the issue of being a mother while also raising a child on the contracts that the Pakistan cricket board offers to its female cricketers. She’d said that a child needs the mother's care. The question would have been, where would her child go if she had to continue her career? And who will look after the child if she is on the field? Hiring a babysitter and accompanying her everywhere is costly, and Pakistani women cricketers do not earn enough money to afford such luxury. Their contracts allow them to make a livelihood, but it would have been impossible to continue playing with a child if there had been no parental policy in place. Maroof's life these days is a jumble of varied tasks, juggling her fitness, batting, captaincy, and obligations as a mother. Despite the increased workload, she is grateful that "Fatima is a good child" who only wakes her up twice or thrice a night. Pakistan's finest batter is one of eight mothers participating in the World Cup, and she will be the first Pakistani to return to national service after becoming a mother. Maroof's life has taken an unexpected turn in a country where most cricketers' careers finish once they marry. She, too, was a soft-spoken, unassuming individual who had once felt that a similar fate awaited her. The six-month-old infant has become a new and energising part of Pakistan's World Cup campaign and has boosted the team's morale. Fatima, the skipper’s daughter, has become the new centre of attention in the group, which the captain feels is a good thing. Maroof’s narrative has inspired millions across the world, including Indian fans who were just enthralled by the image of her coming out of the bus in her Pakistani uniform with the infant in one hand and her cricketing kit strapped to her other shoulder. 4. Although S Sreesanth went without a bid during the IPL 2022 mega auction, the pacer has been making an impression on the domestic circuit. One of his videos has gone viral in which he could be seen celebrating his first wicket in nine years in the most traditional and modest way possible. In the game against Meghalaya, the 39-year-old Kerala cricketer scooped up Aryan Bora's wicket and presented his "Pranaam" to the cricket turf. In the first innings, he had statistics of 2 for 40 in 11.5 overs, but he did not take any wickets in the second. View this post on Instagram Kerala defeated Meghalaya by an innings and 166 runs in the Ranji match, with Ponnan Rahul (147) and Rohan Kunnummal (107) reaching the three-figure mark. In the second innings, Basil Thami and Jalaj Saxena took four and three wickets, respectively, to knock Meghalaya out for just 191 runs. “Now that’s my 1st wicket after 9 long years..gods grace I was just over joyed and giving my Pranaam to the wicket .. #grateful #cricket #ketalacricket #bcci #india #Priceless,” Sreesanth wrote in his tweet as he shared the video from is social media handle. However, when his life ban was reduced to seven years in August of 2019, he expressed interest in returning to professional cricket. The paceman had said that he was ready to give it his all and believed he had another five to seven years of cricket left in him. His reduced ban, which expired in September 2021, paved the way for his return to the game. Sreesanth returned to competitive cricket last year when he played for Kerala against Puducherry in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. He marked his comeback with the dismissal of opponent batsman Fabid Ahmed, giving him 29/1 in his four-over quota. View this post on Instagram The right-handed pacer had also registered for the latest IPL mega auction, but no offers were received. The starting price for Sreesanth was Rs. 50 lakh. His Kerala colleagues Basil Thampi and KM Asif, on the other hand, found buyers in the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, respectively. Thampi was signed by Mumbai for a fee of 30 lakh, while Asif was signed by Chennai for a fee of 20 lakh. View the full article
  5. Ever since we were little kids, we’ve always been urged to do one good deed every day, even if it is as small as giving someone a compliment. And while most of us are quick to preach the same to others, when the time comes, people only seldom ever step up to help others. We say this after a father and son recently were left stranded on the road and despite several passersby at the spot, no one chose to help them out. Well, no one except one Swiggy delivery boy, who people are now calling a ‘hero’. Swiggy Delivery Boy Helps Save Man's Life, Here's The Full Story https://t.co/1hRSZfqwyj — mannainfinitysoul (@mannainfinitys1) February 2, 2022 Being lauded on social media is a delivery boy who, on December 25th, helped save the life of an elderly man when he fell ill on the road itself. Mumbai-based Col (Retd) Man Mohan Malik who got sick was being rushed to the hospital by his son in a car, however due to heavy traffic on the roads, the father and son found themselves stuck. Pleading for help from those who passed them by on a two-wheeler, not one person stopped and helped them in need. © Twitter/Swiggy Finally, a delivery boy from Swiggy stopped to help them out. Col. Malik recalled, “Suddenly, we saw a Swiggy delivery person across the road. He was moving from Reclamation towards the hospital. I asked my son to request him for help as my situation was deteriorating quickly.” He further went on to narrate, “As we approached the hospital, we found the gates were closed. The Swiggy delivery executive requested the security guard who was stationed at a distance to open the gate as there was a “serious patient” requiring immediate admission to the emergency ward. He then went on to also inform the staff, requesting them to act at the earliest. The medical team rushed to the spot, and the last I remember, I was being wheeled into the hospital.” [1/1] 25th December I had to rush my dad to the hospital in a critical condition. Got stuck in a terrible traffic jam while reaching there but shouted out to a @Swiggy delivery person to Piggyback and take my dad to the emergency ward. — Manish Malik (@manimalik) February 1, 2022 If it hadn’t been for the kindness and humanity of the delivery boy, Mrunal Kirdat, who went a step further than his line of duty to help someone in need, a life wouldn’t have been able to be saved. View this post on Instagram He truly is a hero, and people on social media are hailing him just the same. © Instagram Col. Malik also showed gratitude to the generosity of Mrunal as he wrote, “After several weeks at the hospital, I am well. All I could think about was the young boy who gave me a new lease of life. For me, he is truly a “Saviour” as Swiggy calls them. If not for him, I would have perhaps never been able to return to my loved ones. 10. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has started sharing videos about the behind-the-scenes instances of Team India’s numerous tours spread across the year and it has become a great means through which fans see how our cricketers are when they don’t have to be media-conscious. However, some of the people with an eye for minute details captured a split-second moment in which all-rounder Washington Sundar could be seen enjoying his in-flight meal over a film and were quick to estimate that he was indeed watching the 2020 released film Soorarai Pottru. 12. Yuzvendra Chahal is not the first name that comes to mind when we think about athletes who are built like trucks. He is skinny, with not a lot of muscle mass around his biceps, legs, chest, or back. For where the Instagram-driven audience has gotten used to seeing a ripped “washboard” set of abs, the spinner has got a flat stomach and let’s just say wearing a tight t-shirt might not solve the purpose of popping out veins in his arms. View this post on Instagram And you know what the best part is? Chahal actually knows and is completely fine with the way he is! He is willing to make fun of himself (although, there’s nothing wrong with it) just for the sake of his friends, family and fans. Despite winning the toss and asking a struggling PBKS roster to bat first, the Virat Kohli-led side were unable to stop their opponents from scoring more than 170 runs and later found it extremely difficult to chase the total down. After only their second loss of the season, RCB have slid down to the number three position but have the same number of points in their bank as the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals that are perched at the first and second spots in the points table, respectively. 14. While the use of technology has evolved with time in order to make the game of cricket as accurate and player-friendly as possible, there are some occasions on which one of the two teams will end up disappointed with the outcome of using that technology. One such incident took place in the second session of the first day of the fourth and final Test match between India and England at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium when England batsman Jonny Bairstow was given out on an LBW appeal by pacer Mohammed Siraj. View this post on Instagram Batting at 28, Bairstow was visibly shocked to see umpire Nitin Menon nod to Siraj’s appeal for a Leg-Before after his delivery rushed past the Englishman’s bat and nicked his back-foot pad. After a brief discussion with his batting partner Ben Stokes, Bairstow decided to go for a DRS review in which it was established that while the ball did not touch the bat before hitting the pad, the trajectory of the delivery ‘may or may not’ have led to the bails falling off the stumps. Under such circumstances, it is the umpire’s call that remains final and the review is retained by the team. England 4⃣ down! Mohammed Siraj picks his 2⃣nd wicket. Jonny Bairstow is out LBW. @Paytm #INDvENG #TeamIndia Follow the match https://t.co/9KnAXjaKfb pic.twitter.com/reUWwrKke5 — BCCI (@BCCI) March 4, 2021 When the on-field official was given the go-ahead by the third umpire to stick to his decision, he once again lifted his finger to declare the wicket and Bairstow had to walk back while shaking his head in disappointment as the Men in Blue could be seen celebrating in the background. The conflict, therefore, led to some obvious differences in opinion between the two sides and the different sets of fans backing up each team. Indian cricket fans complimented on-field umpire Nithin Menon and third umpire Anil Chaudhary for conducting some high quality officiating: Umpiring of the highest quality ever now #INDvsENG #INDvENG Siraj gets Bairstow Wicket Do not dare to criticize Indian umpires again since you cannot blame the pitch again — Ethan 001 (@001Ethan) March 4, 2021Umpiring has been top notch for most part of this series! #INDvsENG @BCCI — Alexander Supertramp (@atirmataavihs) March 4, 2021Excellent Umpiring!!! Top decision. — Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) March 4, 2021The umpire better make sure Bairstow is happy next time he gives him out. We wouldn’t want an unhappy Bairstow now, do we mate? May be the English players can get lollies on their way back to the pavilion. #INDvsENG https://t.co/N8fJaOFI7H — Sushrutha (@3eyeview) March 4, 2021On the other hand, fans who supported Bairstow were heart-broken with the verdict and called out the officials for horrible decision-making: Player review from Bairstow. Obviously makes sense to check everything - just seems like a small gap in the logic of Umpire's Call in this very specific scenario. — Ben Jones (@benjonescricket) March 4, 2021It’s really rough on Bairstow because it was umpire’s call but umpire’s “caught out” thinking invalidates LBW in his mind so not really fair to India to not look at it. Now whether umpire’s call should be a thing or whether ball tracking is infallible is another conversation — Anna Forsyth (@aforsyth03) March 4, 2021Bairstow was given out caught by the on field umpire .... how is that umpires call relevant for a LBW decision ?? #EngvsInd #INDvEND — imagineer3.0 (@Imagineer31) March 4, 2021Other than Jonny Bairstow's dismissal, umpiring on Day 1 of the fourth Test at the Motera stadium has been well-accepted and acknowledged by fans of either side. Out of the three DRS reviews being taken in the first 38 overs, two belonged to Indian skipper Virat Kohli and one came off England. All three reviews agreed with the final decision of the officials and only one of them got retained on a technicality. View the full article

However, taking online classes has been a struggle from his native village. In fact, his phone screen has been frozen in the past while taking these classes, exasperated, as he was about to give up, he was struck by the innovative idea of climbing a tree to see if a change of altitude made a difference in catching network on his phone, and it, in fact, did make a difference. For Subrata Pati, this was the beginning of a new routine. Every morning, the 35-year-old man climbs up the neem tree next to his house and settles in on a makeshift wooden platform tied to its branches that makes hours of teaching more comfortable whilst sitting on the tree. Then, he receives an uninterrupted signal on his phone which he uses to teach his students with. © BCCL âI have temporarily shifted from my Kolkata residence to Ahanda, which is a part of the stateâs Jangalmalal area, to be with my family in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. 21. MS Dhoni etched his name in the history books after becoming only the sixth Indian and 20th overall cricketer to feature in 300 One-Day Internationals on 31 August during India's fourth ODI clash against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa stadium in Colombo. Sachin Tendulkar, Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumara Sangakkara are the only four cricketers who have played more than 300 ODI matches in the history of the sport. Pakistani great Shahid Afridi missed the mark by a whisker after he retired after playing 398 games. Dhoni's career graph has been so unreal that even without a biopic, his story is incredibly filmi. It is not surprising that his best moments have come in ODIs. A career average of nearly 52 and a strike rate of around 89 is a rare achievement. © Reuters The former Indian captain is also only the second wicket-keeper after Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara to play 300 ODI matches. The former Lankan skipper represented his country in 360 matches as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Also, South Africa's Marck Butcher played 295 games, while Aussie Adam Gilchrist managed 287 matches. Dhoni may not be able to go past Sangakkara's run tally of 14,234 (the most runs after Tendulkar) but as a wicketkeeper he has better numbers. During the second ODI of the current series on 24 August, Dhoni equalled Sangakkara's record of most stumpings (99) in ODIs. But Dhoni took 106 fewer matches to do so. No one has remained unbeaten while batting more than Dhoni—40 of those occasions came in ODIs that India won. Already in this series, he has unbeaten scores of 45 and 67 in the two matches in which he batted. © Reuters So the statistic that Dhoni has the highest average (99.16, Kohli has 97.68 and Michael Bevan, 86.25) during successful run-chases in ODIs (minimum 1,000 runs), doesn't come as a surprise. For a man who has served Indian cricket all these years, reaching the milestone of 300 ODIs clearly wasn't going to go unnoticed as the cricket bigwigs wasted no time in showering praise on Dhoni.
