  3. Mumbai Police has always had its Twitter game on point with its creative and witty tweets to spread awareness on social issues. The interesting thing is they use pop culture references and funny memes to put forth advisory messages which is, TBH, the best way to get people to actually listen. They are relatable and fun, and can even reach a larger audience. This time too they have done it right. Mumbai police has now used a reference from a popular web series, Dark, to send out an essential advisory message. It is basically a note of caution that everyone should follow to stay safe in the current situation, especially when the COVID-19 cases are increasing on a daily basis.Taking the creativity to another level, they shared an image with a message which contains a reference from the German science fiction thriller series Dark. Here, take a look: Question - Is it okay to share masks? Answer- Absolutely not. Itâs a #Dark habit pic.twitter.com/kiTsdBlIpR â Mumbai Police (@MumbaiPolice) July 2, 2020 Emphasising on the importance of staying safe and not sharing masks, they wrote, âIs it okay to share masks?â Then they added the answer, âAbsolutely not. Itâs a #Dark habit.â Well, it sure can turn dark as there is a high probability of catching infection if we share the mask we are wearing with someone else or use theirs. People on Twitter took notice of their creativity and flooded the post with appreciative comments. I just love the @MumbaiPolice media team. 4. This week saw a massive, nationwide uprising against police brutality in every state of the USA - with thousands of #BlackLivesMatter supporters taking to the streets in protest against the killing of a 46-year-old African American man named George Floyd, with all four police officers involved now facing charges. The now ex-cop primarily responsible for Floydâs death, Derek Chauvin, faces a more serious charge of second-degree murder, and for the first time prosecuters have levelled charges against three other officers, issuing warrants for their arrests. While the story is far from over, citizens from every state showed up in massive numbers to display their dissent - often at the risk of being assaulted, beaten or tear-gassed by police forces. so the police have been firing tear gas and flashbangs consistently for the last twenty minutes at protesters chanting "hands up, don't shoot". there's no curfew in Iowa City and this protest is completely peaceful. the Iowa City police instigated violence pic.twitter.com/fftlFtxP3m â grumpydragon.jpg (@t_a_ylorann) June 4, 2020 Despite the massive ground the movement has gained across the last few days, thereâs no shortage of detractors - some of whom have accused protestors of looting and pillaging empty retail stores while others have resorted to racist attacks in person and over social media. To those who are bitching about rioting. And to those who are bitching about looting. Donât get it twisted: protesters are protesting. Looters are looting. Stay focused and remember when two months ago you were panic buying and punching people over toilet paper. â Mohamad Safa (@mhdksafa) June 4, 2020While this is nothing new for America, perhaps the most insensitive and appalling sign of the times is a recent trend thatâs caught steam across TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms - whatâs been called the âGeorge Floyd Challengeâ. âTHE GEORGE FLOYD CHALLENGEâ I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. DISGRACEFUL. pic.twitter.com/NKUUaKkVYt â BLACK LIVES MATTER (@TeaSeshYT) June 2, 2020 Imitating the horrific actions that led to Floydâs death, the trend (which seemingly seems to have picked up with white teenagers) led to widespread outrage - and perhaps five minutes of fame for the irresponsible people behind them. Fortunately, the challenge sparked action from some social media giants, with #GeorgeFloydChallenge not returning any results on Facebook and being met with a "Hashtag is Hidden" message on its sister site, Instagram. Several people were appalled over social media - especially considering that the crime happened barely a week ago, on May 25. As if whatâs going isnt sad enough, people are really making this a form of humor and entertainment. If anyone knows these people I highly recommend blurting out because âGeorge Floyd challenge is absolutely disgusting!!!!!!! #BlackLivesMattter #RIPGEORGEFLYOD pic.twitter.com/ftbWU8JvUC â ðð§ðð®ð¨ð¤ð£ (@GraysonRowles) June 2, 2020 I see that alot people need to be sitting in a mental asylum vs their house right now.... since when did people make someone's death a challenge? #BlackLivesMatter #GeorgeFloyd pic.twitter.com/jBJbxFZDAB â Precious (@PreciousShuntae) June 4, 2020 To all the white people doing the âGeorge Floyd challengeâ... why? Why do you feel the need to insult the death of an innocent man by kneeling on other peopleâs necks when you know damn well that, even though you may not be killing them, you are just as bad as the cops who did? â Taylor (@bonbon_pro) June 4, 2020 Activist Ambreena Syed also took a moment to compare the insensitivity with context to Indian politicians making light of human rights atrocities in Kashmir. Two different countries but same kind of sick people. In US, they started #GeorgeFloyd challenge and in India a ruling party leader was selling T shirts with a Kashmiri tied to jeep bonnet as human shield. pic.twitter.com/uaU0Pe5SJv â Ambreena Syed (@Ambreen62986028) June 4, 2020 Fortunately, whether out of honest goodwill or social pressure, local police have taken action, issuing the following statement: âWe can confirm we are investigating after an image was shared on social media which showed two men imitating the recent death of US citizen George Floyd. An investigation was launched and yesterday (Sunday) officers arrested two males aged 19 and another male aged 18 on suspicion of sending communications causing anxiety and distress. They have since been released on bail. We understand that this social media post has caused significant upset and we want to reassure the public it is being investigated robustly and is being treated as a hate crime.â View the full article

  7. The dismally increasing coronavirus cases across the globe have crippled global economy bringing lives of people to a standstill. This is the first time in the history of mankind something of this level has happened. In the wake of this global pandemic, many countries including India have imposed a country-wide lockdown to contain the spread of this deadly virus. Consequently, many people who earn wages on a daily basis have been left in the lurch. In such testing times, humanity and kindness are the qualities that help us get through life and this tough time. Turns out that humanity continues to stay alive despite what happens and proving this is an instance that occurred in Florida recently. according to a report in HT , an unknown customer left a tip of 10,000 USD (Rs. 7.5 lakh approx) at a restaurant called Skillets in Florida to be distributed amongst its staff members. What a kind soul! He did this in a bid to help staff members make their ends meet until the lockdown is lifted. This incident happened just a day before the state mayor asked all restaurants to shut down. © Yelp The owner of the restaurant revealed that the customer handed the money in cash to the manager of the restaurant, asking him to distribute it evenly amongst the staff members. There were a total of 20 employees working at Skillets and they all received 500 USD (Rs. 37,500 approx) each. According to NBC, the owner spoke about the gentle customer and said, âWe have regulars who have been coming in forever, and theyâre our friends but we donât always know their names. We know their faces, their orders, their favourite tables, but we donât know exactly who they are.â Turns out, this one customer isnât the only one who surprised them with his kindness. The owner of Skillets also revealed that many servers received big tips from other customers in the past few weeks. Owing to the current coronavirus crisis, the restaurant unfortunately has been forced to lay off 90 percent of its employees due to lack of funds. All restaurants were asked to close down. Itâs because of instances like these that people still believe in humanity, kindness and compassion. Kudos to all those people who are helping each other in the time of crisis. View the full article
  8. The deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) might have initially begun in Wuhan, China, but today, it has become a pandemic and a major threat to the human race. With 2,76,996 confirmed cases and 11,419 deaths across the globe, the fast-spreading virus has not only caused a massive health scare, but has also disrupted normalcy. With travel restrictions, quarantine camps and curfews in place, concerned authorities are doing all they can to prevent it from spreading, in what has turned into mankind's biggest fight in the 21st century. The ongoing pandemic has also taken a toll on the sporting world, leading to the suspension and cancellation of numerous sporting events this year. #StayAtHomeChallenge ?????? #Attiitude pic.twitter.com/NMIDxeiz0P â Chris Gayle (@henrygayle) March 19, 2020 With no playing time on the field, sportspersons have been pretty much restricted to home akin to the general public. 12. The world of sports is not new to witnessing players dating each other or getting married. We've seen the likes of Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik becoming a fan-favourite couple upon their marriage. The sports fanatics continue to adore German football star Bastian Schweinsteiger and Serbian tennis legend Ana Ivanovic who got married in 2016. And, the list is endless. But, amongst these power-couples in sports, there remains one that continues to make the fans drool in awe for their unconditional love for each other. Australian fast-bowler Mitchell Starc and Oz women's cricketer Alyssa Healy have captured the imagination of fans like no other. © Instagram/a_healy Since meeting as nine-years-olds on a cricket pitch, when the pair were giving trials for Sydney's Northern District Cricket Association, the love story between Healy and Starc has been nothing short of a fairytale. The pair tied the knot in April 2015 and have been together for six-and-a-half years now. Unsurprisingly, the Aussie duo is the first couple to win 'Player of the Tournament' awards at the coveted World Cups. While Starc had won the honours at the 2015 World Cup for his impressive 22-wicket haul, Healy bagged the award at the 2018 World T20 after amassing 225 runs in the tournament. © Instagram/a_healy But, their love isn't just defined by posing for shutterbugs together or posting cute pictures of each other on social media. Healy was probably the first one to give a befitting reply to Mitchell Johnson after he criticised Starc for his dismal performance in the 1st Test against India in December, 2018. And, Starc has done his bit too. In yet another display of their unconditional love, Starc appears to have set relationship goals after leaving his ongoing tour of South Africa to return back home and support his wife from the stands at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which is set to host the historic final of the Women's T20 World Cup between India and Australia. © Twitter/@ahealy77 "It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Mitch to watch Alyssa in a home World Cup final and so we were happy to allow him to return home to support his wife and be part of a fantastic occasion," Australia head coach Justin Langer revealed. âThey were extremely supportive...so Iâm very appreciative for that and very grateful that I can go back and support Alyssa, much like she was around for our 2015 World Cup win. That was very special for all the boys to have their families involved so itâs a fantastic opportunity to repay that. Theyâve definitely captured the support around Australia and overseas as well and hopefully, thereâs a massive crowd in Melbourne on Sunday,â Starc said. So refreshing to see this!! 14. Karte hain hum pyaar Mr India se, humko milna sau baar Mr India se. Every 90s kid grew up on multiple doses of this song, and a deep-seated desire of stumbling upon their very own âgolden watch of invisibilityâ. The possibilities it inspired were unlimited and managed to fan quite a few daydreaming sessions. This was back in the 90s, and if latest reports are to believed, the cult classic Mr India is now about to get a modern day remake in the form of a trilogy to be helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. I am no judge, but I am kind of apprehensive about the whole affair and donât know if this is good news after all. © Narsimha Enterprises I happen to be one of the millions who got to enjoy the very first superhero movie Bollywood ever produced, and surf the excitement when its popularity peaked. So, it shouldnât surprise you that I attach a sense of sentimentality to the film, its cast and the entire experience it rendered to the eight-year-old mini me. If this is what the OG Mr India means to me after three decades of its release, imagine what it means to the makers who conceptualised it and were a part of the entire creative process since the very beginning? We cannot expect to come even close to how dear they must hold it to them. © Twitter Now imagine somebody taking your brainchild with plans to resurrect it and retell the story very differently from how you did. Something that you created and turned into a classic, to be taken and recreated with not so much as an intimation as the original creator. Will it anger you, make you speak out and question how ethics work in the creative space? Well, thatâs exactly what has happened with Mr India director Shekhar Kapur, who cannot seem to come to terms with the fact that his film is being remade without keeping him in the loop, let alone having a consultation with him. © Twitter I kind of see where he is coming from. Intellectual property is every artistâs greatest asset after all, but I suppose legal loopholes make for a much better argument (read excuse) when professional ethics and basic etiquettes have been compromised. Ever since the news about Mr India remake broke on social media, director Shekhar has been trying to understand if he has no legal say over the matter. No one has even asked me or mentioned to me about this film called Mr India 2. I can only guess that they using the title to get a big weekend. For they cannot use the characters/story without permission from the original creators of the film. https://t.co/Set5eDH63j â Shekhar Kapur (@shekharkapur) February 18, 2020We sit with writers from day one, but are not the writer. Help actors hone performances but are not actors. Develop and create visual language of film. Slave hours over editing consoles. Directors lead and inspire every aspect of a film and have no creative rights? #MrIndia â Shekhar Kapur (@shekharkapur) February 22, 2020Actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is equally miffed with the latest development and questioned how the project was never discussed with her father Anil Kapoor, the OG âMr Indiaâ if I may say so, and the director before it was given a green signal. FYI pic.twitter.com/YRmrny8VeW â Sonam K Ahuja (@sonamakapoor) February 22, 2020 But you see, despite the fact that all these points are very much valid, the power lies in legalities. While there is no denying the fact that the script writers and directors should always have a say in a film that they created regardless of who holds the copyrights to it, the Copyright Act, 1957 says itâs otherwise. Legally speaking, the producers are said to be the ones to initiate the movie making and therefore, under section 2(uu) of the Copyright Act, 1957 producers are the authors of the cinematograph of the film under section 2(d)(v) of the Copyright Act, 1957 and therefore also the legal copyright holders. © Twitter In our case, that would be Boney Kapoor who produced Mr India and reportedly chose to later sell off the rights to Zee Network, which is now producing Mr India 2.0 along with Reliance Entertainment. It so happens that even though more than one individualâs creative talent and hard work goes into making a work of art, the law gives all the authority to the producers to make decisions on everybodyâs behalf, maybe even without even so much as an intimation. The argument on a remake of #MrIndia is not that no one took permission from me or even bothered to tell me. The question is. If you are remaking a feature film, based on a directorâs very successful work, does the Director have no creative rights over what he/she created? â Shekhar Kapur (@shekharkapur) February 27, 2020 People arenât too happy about the news either, with many claiming that this would be an epic fail and that nobody should be allowed to mess with the classic film. I wonder what would come off it now anyway because the rulebook says you have no right to have a say over your creation because you only invested your creative talent and skills into creating the art, whereas the producers invested a whole lot more - money. That of course makes them almighty, right? But itâs so wrong! I almost want to call for a boycott on this one. View the full article

Even before touching base in India, you could tell that Trump was excited about this tour as he went out of his way to tweet in hindi about his arrival: हम भारत à¤à¤¨à¥ à¤à¥ लिठततà¥à¤ªà¤° हà¥à¤ । हम रासà¥à¤¤à¥ मà¥à¤ हà¥à¤, à¤à¥à¤ हॠà¤à¤à¤à¥à¤ मà¥à¤ हम सबसॠमिलà¥à¤à¤à¥! â Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2020 However, Trump made one teeny-tiny mistake of mispronouncing the name of the âgod of cricketâ, Sachin Tendulkar. In his speech while addressing the more than one lakh people at the venue and others watching from all over the country, Trump wanted to talk about the things that mattered the most to the Indian population, that is, bollywood and cricket. And while he nailed the bollywood bit, he accidently stuttered Tendulkarâs name wrongly. Something about Donald Trump's pronunciation of Sachin Tendulkar tells me he isn't a huge cricket fan pic.twitter.com/stFhq46MLx â Andy Silke (@andysilke) February 24, 2020 Naturally, the world had to make the most of this moment and troll the man online. 16. On US President Donald Trumpâs visit to India, around Rs. 80-85 crore is expected to be spent and almost half the budget is going solely towards security arrangements. Despite the heavy security arrangements, five langurs have also been deployed on the route of Trumpâs procession to keep him away from the monkey ruckus in Agra. The government has also undergone many vigorous steps for the country's beautification to welcome Trump and its attempt to build up a wall in Ahmedabad, to keep aside a stretch of people, has only left people on social media "heart broken". The âgreat wallâ has been built alongside the road connecting the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Indira Bridge in Ahmedabad where the "biggest road show" is set to take place today. The main objective behind the wall is to hide more than 500 kutcha houses at the Dev Saran or Saraniyavaas slum area in the city. âNamaste Trumpâ event, which has kick-started on Monday, will be similar to the landmark âHowdy, Modi!â event hosted by the Indian-American community in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Houston in September 2019. 17. Thereâs an art to handshakes, no doubt. Everything from business deals to diplomatic visits and divorce settlements end with them - and nothing quite feels like a good old, firm shake of the wrist to formally bring an end to a meeting. PM Modi, being an international spokesperson for the country has had several of them since 2014 no doubt - but this Friday, the Prime Minister faced one hell of a handshake following a visit from the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The 'handshake' there :))))) pic.twitter.com/wORHIAYGkl â Ashish K Singh (ABP News) (@AshishSinghLIVE) February 14, 2020 Serious props to Indiaâs head honcho for keeping a straight face there. Both countries have a long-lasting trade relationship forged during colonial times - today, Portugal imports large quantities of iron, cotton and other materials from India. PM Modi himself visited Portugal back in 2017 - 11 agreements were signed back then covering a large number of areas including space, avoidance of double taxation, nano-technology, biotechnology and higher education. This week marked President Marceloâs first visit to India. Interestingly, it seems that this obsession with powerful handshakes isnât a one-time thing. Back in 2018, the Portuguese Premier visited the White House to meet with President Trump - who was quite literally yanked into his contemporaryâs face on greeting him. Even the kids arenât safe, it would seem. Last December, De Sousa met with some children and greeted them rather⦠violently, one could say. Currently, reports state that he will be visiting Maharashtra and Goa during the week - the latter state was under Portuguese rule since 1510, resulting in several generations raised under a Portuguese government. Today, only a few people still speak the language (3-5% of Goaâs population). According to the prevailing law in Goa, for anyone who is born in Goa before 1961, their children and grandchildren are eligible for the Portuguese passport and nationality. Letâs just hope that no one's arm gets dislocated in the meantime, though. View the full article

  19. Sanna Marin, the newly-appointed Prime Minister of Finland has made a lot of significant changes since she has come into power. The Finnish government, led by Marin, is showing the world what woman power can do and what tectonic changes can be brought about under their leadership. According to CNN, Finland on Wednesday announced a new policy that will grant equal parental leaves to both mothers and fathers. The parents will get around seven months of paid leave and pregnant partners will get an extra one month leave before the child is born. Well, the basic idea behind this new policy is to uplift and improve gender equality and also enable an increase in the declining birth rate in Finland. The Minister of Health and Social Affairs in Finland, Aino-Kaisa Pekonen said, "This enables better equality between parents and diversity among families.â Also, Finlandâs coalition of five parties led by all-women leaders has made gender equality a priority. Hereâs how people on the internet are reacting to the new policy of equal parental leaves- We agree.
