  1. Winning a title is not easy. It surely takes a lot to outwit the rivals and eventually rise to the top before claiming the top honours. But, then comes the hard part - defending the title. The history of successful title defences in the Premier League highlights how tough it is for a club to defend their crown. But, every now and then, there comes a bunch of spirited players who combine to aid their team in the elusive title defence, making them a cut above the rest. That was the story of Vidarbha cricket team in the Ranji Trophy this season. Having won their first-ever Ranji Trophy title in the 2017-18 season, Vidarbha, unlike some of the best sides in the tournament, embarked on what turned out to be a commendable campaign this season. The Faiz Fazal-led side faced a stern test when they booked a date with Saurashtra in the tournament's final. But, staying true to their character, the defending champions edged-past Saurashtra to secure a 78-run win and, in the process, claimed their second Ranji Trophy title. © Twitter Every title defence needs heroes, and the man who stepped up for Vidarbha was undoubtedly Aditya Sarwate whose sensational figures of 11-157 and a 49-run knock in the second innings ensured Saurashtra suffered their third heartbreak in the final in the last seven Ranji Trophy seasons. Bowled out for 312 runs in the first innings, Vidarbha were aided by their spin-bowling duo of Sarwate and Akshay Wakhare. While Sarwate clinched a five-for at the expense of 98 runs, Wakhare, too, contributed towards his team's cause with figures of 4-80. As the two spinners spun a web around the opposition batsmen, Saurashtra were eventually bundled out for 307 runs in the first innings. Taking a slender five-run lead, Vidarbha ran into all sorts of trouble in the second innings. Riding on the heroics of Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (6-96), the Saurashtra bowling unit did their side a huge favour by bowling their opponents out for just 200 runs. Saurashtra would've fancied their chances after being given a 206-run target, but Sarwate had other plans. Congrats Vidarbha on retaining the Ranji Trophy. One win may be construed an aberration, two in a row is sign of prowess ðð — Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) February 7, 2019 Vidarbha's left-arm spinner struck early on and sent Snell Patel packing at just 12 runs. Then, Sarwate dismissed Harvik Desai (8) before trapping big fish Cheteshwar Pujara (0) in front of the stumps to claim two scalps in one over. Later, the likes of Kamlesh Makvana, Vishvaraj Jadeja and Jaydev Unadkat also became the victims of Sarwate's spin wizardry. As Sarwate claimed six wickets in the second innings, Saurashtra were capitulated for a mere 127 runs, losing the contest and a chance to improve on their history in the finals. For a man who had never claimed a 10-wicket haul, Sarwate couldn't have claimed the feat on a better day or occasion than the Ranji Trophy final. © Twitter Apart from putting his best foot forward in the all-important final, Sarwate has been a vital cog for Vidarbha throughout their commendable season. The 29-year-old finished the tournament with a staggering 55 wickets in 11 matches, including best figures of 11-157 that came in the final. He also boasts of six fifers and a 10-wicket haul, alongside an impressive economy rate of under three runs. Well done Vidarbha! What a success story this has been...Vidarbha cricket. ðððððð#RanjiTrophy — Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) February 7, 2019 If anyone saw the final, they'd agree that the contest was pretty close with both the teams fighting their way back at several points in the match. But, in the end, it was Sarwate - the 'Player of the Match' - who spun a web around Saurashtra's batting line-up to make Vidarbha only the sixth team in history to successfully defend a Ranji Trophy title.
  2. Xiaomi's new TV segment kicked off with a bang last year and it seems like the company isn't slowing down anytime soon. The Chinese company launched a new iteration of the already popular 4K TV called the “MI LED TV 4X Pro”. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla It follows the same philosophy as some of Xiaomi's other products i.e. high end specifications at an affordable price. In fact, the Mi LED TV 4X Pro 55-inch is the only 4k TV you should be investing in 2019 because of all it can offer. It costs only Rs 40,000 and is probably one of the most affordable 4K TVs out there. Here's our review of the Mi LED TV 4X Pro: Design In terms of design, the MI LED TV 4X Pro is thicker, heavier and has a larger footprint than the Mi LED Smart TV 4 which was launched last year. Due to the larger footprint, the TV now houses the 20W stereo speakers that offers better sound output than its predecessor. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The panel itself as a metallic grey finish and has noticeable bezels are in line with other 4K TVs out there. You might miss the bezel-less/frame-less design from the Mi LED Smart TV 4, however we prefer a better sound output than a kickass design. The enhanced sound output improves the viewing experience which was one of the caveats on the previous model. Display And Performance © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The display off the Mi LED TV 4X Pro is 55-inches in size and has a 10-bit panel which supports HDR 10 content. In fact, this may just be the cheapest 4K UHD TV in the market that has support for HDR 10 content. The new panel also has better colour representation and can produce 1,056,964,608 more colours than an 8-bit panel. The panel also as a refresh rate of 60Hz which is great for console gaming on the Xbox One X. However, the TV has a response time of 6.5ms which is not great for online gaming but is more than enough for playing single player titles. HDR 10 content looks absolutely mind-blowing when keeping the price tag in mind. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Viewing angles have also been improved than the previous model as we didn't see any black patches when viewing content from various angles. This was an issue with the Mi TV Smart TV 4 that has now been resolved with the Mi LED TV 4X Pro. Having said that, in order to watch 4K content, you will either need an Apple TV 4K, Chromecast Ultra or a 4k Fire Stick TV. The TV does not have native support for apps like Netflix/Amazon Prime who also happen to be the only 4K content providers in India. The new 20W speakers at the back also improved the sound quality when compared to the previous iteration. The sound is now louder, clearer and refined which was our only complaint from the Mi Smart TV 4. In case you want to have an even better experience, you can always pair it with the Mi Soundbar and you can read our review here. The Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4X Pro is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Amlogic Cortex A53 chipset, which is accompanied by 2GB of RAM and a Mali-450 GPU. There is also 8GB of internal storage for you to store files locally. The remote that comes with the TV is identical to the one you get with the Mi LED 4A Pro. It uses Bluetooth for transmitting signals and doesn't need to be used in the line of sight of the TV. However, we still wished it came with a mute button as it really needs that support in case you get many phone calls or are having a conversation in the same room as the TV. Software © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The Xiaomi TV OS or better known as Patchwall is what powers all the smart features in the TV. It works the same way as it does on other Xiaomi TVs but it also has the additional interface of Android TV. The UI itself is very reminiscent of Apple TV with tiles that automatically fetches your favourite TV shows or sporting events from your DTH. It's easier to find content on Xiaomi's PatchWall OS rather than browsing TV channels from the set top box. Having said that, Netflix and Amazon Prime are not available on PatchWall at the moment so you will need a device such as an Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Chromecast or a gaming console that has support for native 4K content. There's also Chromecast built-in however it doesn't support Netflix either and Amazon has blocked Prime on any Google product altogether. If you want use a device, we recommend the Apple TV as it has every app you need to be a true cord-cutter. Ports In terms of ports, there are various choices you can use to power your home entertainment system. The Mi LED TV 4X Pro has 2 USB ports, 1 AV Input, 1 S/PDIF Out, 3 HDMI Portsï¼1 contains ARC), ethernet port and also has Wi-Fi support. The ports are on the left side at the back of the panel and can be easily accessed when not using the wall-mount brackets. You can use these ports to power a home theatre system using one of the output ports however we recommend using the S/PDIF Out for the best audio experience. The Final Say To be honest, the Mi LED 4X Pro offers more than it should for Rs 39,999. In fact, I personally own two Samsung 4K TVs that doesn't even have Bluetooth support. The Mi LED 4X Pro is only the 4K you should be buying if you want the best value for your money. It has multiple output ports, offers a 10-bit panel and a great OS experience. Yes, you will need to buy device like an Apple TV to watch 4K TV but even then it turns out to be a cheaper offering. Overall, we can confidently offer a 4X Pro to anyone who is looking to upgrade to a 4K TV and also wants to save money,
  3. Just when we think Ranveer Singh's style game can't get edgier, the man comes up with something even crazier to knock our socks off. This has been going on for years, and we honestly have no idea how he still manages to make fashion headlines consistently with his clothes and shoes. Ranveer Singh's crazy and weird outfits never fail to impress us, and he proved it yet again at the music launch of 'Gully Boy'. © Viral Bhayani Now, you'd think that neon and silver extravaganza by Nought One in itself is more than capable of creating a statement, and you're not wrong. © Viral Bhayani But, then you'd look at his shoes and change your mind, because those babies are the real fashion beasts. © Viral Bhayani Ranveer is wearing a pair of Adidas Originals sneakers called the 'Shark' that are designed by the OG quirkmaster Jeremy Scott. © Highsnobiety © Highsnobiety Possibly one of the craziest sneakers ever, this pair is inspired by classic cars, and features shark tail fins, along with LED 'brake lights'. They cost about Rs 20K (which is surprisingly inexpensive, considering the kind of statement shoes they are.) © Highsnobiety © Highsnobiety © Sneakerbardetroit Ranveer Singh's shoes have been eclectic and flamboyant in the past (let's just call it his regular aesthetic), but this pair holds it own in front of every other pair. Talk about making a statement in front of a crowd effortlessly! Take a bow, Baba!
  4. Setting up LED light strips is not something new as gamers have been using this technique for their setups for a while. However, with home automation becoming more accessible and IFTTT is advancing at a rapid pace to make it more affordable. You can control lights from your smartphone and change colours with infinite possibilities. You can setup different moods, lighting effects and scenes straight from the palm of your hand. Currently, the only two reliable brands that sell smart LED light strips in India are Phillips and Yeelight. I chose the latter to set up my room because it costs exactly half as much as the Phillips Hue light strip. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The Yeelight Aurora Smart LED Light strip costs Rs 3,200 in India while the Phillips equivalent costs Rs 6,000. Of course, I would end up using the cheaper option because it does the same exact job for cheaper. You can always use other light strips from other brands; however, we aren't sure about whether their ecosystems or even their apps are reliable. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla A smart LED strip can be used for various purposes, such as lighting up the back end of a TV/Monitor so that it reduces eye strain. We can even use these light strips for indoor decorations during parties or for festivals like Diwali. What's cool is that you can even sync the Yeelight Smart LED Light strip with some of their other lighting products to get that uniform look. The Yeelight lightstrip supports 16 million colors and goes up to 140 lumens, which results in better illumination at a really affordable price. How To Set It Up Setting up the Yeelight Smart LED light strip is quite simple and straight forward. You will need to follow these steps below to get started: 1. Download the Yeelight app on your Android/iOS device. 2. Launch the app to see your listed products i.e. the Yeelight Smart LED Light strip. 3. Follow instructions to pair your device and light strips using Wi-FI and Bluetooth 4. If you need to reset your Yeelight LED Light strip, follow this instructional video below: 5. You're now ready to use the light strip How To Customise Colours And Set Scenes Once you're all setup, you can change the colours of your light strip according to your liking. I chose the colour red as all my PC components were also using the same hue and I like uniformity in my workspace. All you need to do is go to the device page, tap on your product and then select your colour to your liking. You can even change the brightness level to your liking, this comes in handy when you're watching a movie or having a date night. © Akshay Bhalla If you don't want to manually change colours every single time, you can also setup scenes so that you don't have to manually tap on a colour each time. You can also add lighting effects/moods in scenes such as a sunrise effect or night mode. In my party scene, I've setup a yellow light that would flicker like a candle. You can also customise the number of times you want the light to flicker and the duration in the customisations tab. As we said before, lighting effects are limitless if you know what you're doing. Automation The great thing about the Yeelight Smart LED that is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Echo. It even works with Siri Shortcuts if you are an iPhone that works similarly to aforementioned voice assistants. Here's how you set it up with Google Assistant Open the Google Home app and tap on the Add icon. Select Set up device Works with Google and search for Yeelight. Tap on it to open the Xiaomi login page. This action will link your Xiaomi account and your Google Home account. Sign in using the same credentials that you used to sign-in to your Yeelights app. Assign the Yeelight Smart Light strip to a room Give a nickname if you want to use your own phrase Siri Shortcuts © Akshay Bhalla Siri Shortcuts work only after you setup a scene on the Yeelight app. After setting up you can add a Siri Shortcut straight from the Yeelight App and it will ask you record your phrase. Since I have two scenes setup, I've recorded my phrases as “Turn on Gaming Lights”or “Turn on Party Lights”. So there you have it, you can now have super cool looking room that is completely automated. You can always use cheaper LED light strips that come with a remote to change colours. However, since these aren't compatible with Digital voice assistants or have IFTTT support, you will be limited to using single colours and lack customisation options.
  5. Xiaomi has launched two new smart TVs featuring bigger displays with HDR support namely, the Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4X Pro 55-inch and Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch. The company had been teasing the launch for a few weeks with the tagline “The Bigger Picture coming from Mi TV India”. The Mi LED TV 4X Pro comes with a large 55-inch 4K UHD display with a screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a 10-bit colour depth panel that renders support for HDR 10. Powering the screen is a 64-bit Amlogic quad-core chipset with Mali-450 GPU, 2GB RAM, and 8GB internal storage. © Xiaomi / Mi LED TV 4X Pro 55-inch The minor difference here is, the Mi LED TV 4 55-inch and the Mi LED TV 4 Pro 55-inch come with a super-slim display panel while the 4X Pro has a thicker finish. The key feature of the TV is that it comes with a Bluetooth remote voice control. It also houses bigger 20W speakers. 7. For a player who grew up to the sound of grenades exploding all around him. Who was considered too weak to play football. Luka Modric just guided Croatia to their first football World Cup final. What a terrific way to silence everyone who ever doubted him! © Reuters Football fans and journalists have been guilty of overlooking the genius of certain footballers who are overshadowed by others who hog the limelight. While there is no shame in being the hero behind the scenes at Real Madrid, such has been the dominance of Luka Modric at this World Cup that we simply can't ignore him anymore. © Reuters Don't let his golden locks, diminutive stature, and teenage-like looks confuse you. He plays with the heart of a lion as evidenced by his performances in Russia. He has been an omnipresent entity for Croatia during this World Cup. © Reuters Modric is no stranger to adversity. At the age of 6, his grandfather was murdered by Serbian militants who were gunning down villagers in the small village of Modrici during the Balkan Wars. With four Champions League trophies to his name, it's hard to imagine this genius had such troubled beginnings. © Reuters At the age of 32, he has tireless stamina, often chasing lost causes even when his Croatian side have been in comfortable positions in the games. Moreover, every Croatian attack seems to be based on the brilliance displayed by Modric in the midfield. Whenever his defenders are pressed by the opposition's attack, Modric slides back, receives the ball, displays trickery on the ball and releases one of his teammates. The quality that allows him to do all these tasks at once, is his composure on the ball, as no situation is difficult enough to faze him. © Reuters He's been incredibly hard to dispossess and even harder to mark, as the opposition's defense have been left chasing his shadow during this World Cup. And what's more? In Croatia's match against Argentina in the group stage, he displayed all his qualities at once, as he dribbled past Nicolas Otamendi with ease and placed a vicious 25-yard-shot past a helpless Caballero. © Reuters Never one to grab the spotlight, Modric couldn't hold himself back as he proudly proclaimed that England's arrogance before the game had spurred him and his teammates on. After a quiet first half, Modric imposed himself on the game in a way he's best known for. Modric ran circles around Jordan Henderson and always found himself in space to distribute the ball all over the pitch. © Reuters At the end of extra time, Croatia would have played a match's worth of extra football in this World Cup. However, the Croatian captain once again led by example and brushed off any suggestions of fatigue. His work ethic hadn't reduced as England looked tired and Croatia looked lively as ever. He was key to their performance in the extra time, as Croatia saw themselves through yet again. Croatia are now the first team since England in 1990, to have all their knockout games go into extra time and win. Modric, the ultimate midfielder, has been at the heart of these inspiring performances. © Reuters As Croatia enter the first final in their history, they will once again look to their captain to serve as their inspiration. Modric will be up against France's N'Golo Kante, who has rivalled him for the title of the World Cup's best midfielder, and indeed, its best player. As we have an enticing encounter on our hands, we can't help but applaud Luka Modric and his genius at this World Cup. While the Golden Ball has more often been awarded to a player on the side of the losing finalists, there is no doubt that regardless of the outcome of the final, Luka Modric deserves it.
