  1. Owing to the Coronavirus lockdown, Doordarshan decided to give us a nostalgia trip with shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat. Millennials welcomed the shows in a typical digital style by heaping praises on Twitter and appreciated the actors for giving such brilliant performances. From Arun Govil as Lord Ram to Arvind Trivedi as Ravan, people are impressed with these actors as they made Ramayan look as real as it could be. Today, Ravan has been trending on Twitter and when I checked the trend, I found out that Arvind Trivedi, who played the role of Ravan in Ramayan has finally made his debut on Twitter. Yes, on April 18, the actor joined the microblogging site. In the morning, fans started trending #RavanOnTwitter. © Arvind Trivedi/Twitter Keeping up with the millennial spirit, people welcomed Ravan with memes instead of garlands or aarti. They shared some hilarious memes that might leave you in splits. #RavanOnTwitter **After Joining Twitter. 3. In a bizarre twist of events, Brazilian football legend and 2005 Ballon dâOr Winner Ronaldinho has found himself quite far from his World Cup days - getting the chance to play for a prison futsal tournament in Paraguay. Ronaldinho and his brother have been arrested for entering Paraguay with fake passports. His fake passport shows his correct name, birthplace, and birthdate, but it falsely suggests that heâs a naturalized Paragauay citizen. [@Santula] pic.twitter.com/qOVEi7xPmi â Zach Lowy (@ZachLowy) March 5, 2020The footballer, renowned for his technical skills and iconic career at F.C. Barcelona and A.C. Milan, was arrested this Thursday along with his brother and agent Roberto de Assis Moreira for trying to enter the country with a fake passport. Both Ronaldinho and his brother are sharing a cell in Agrupación Especializada of the National Police of Paraguay. And It just so happens that days after one of the world's greatest footballers entered the facility, the prison are staging a futsal tournament. Extra reports that the competition normally takes place every six months and so was planned prior to Ronaldinho's arrival. Typically, there are 194 inmates involved and split into ten different teams. Initially, authorities told the media that the star would be allowed to spectate the tournament - until this post surfaced from ABC TV journalist Ivan Leguizamon. â Iván Leguizamón (@ivanciclon) March 10, 2020Loosely translated, the tweet reads: "When Ronaldinho is denied freedom, his participation in the tournament of prisoners of the Specialized Group is imminent. In fact, last night he already got engaged with his fellow jailers. In which team will you play and what conditions were imposed." Naturally, several football fans, especially across Ronaldinhoâs home country of Brazil, exploded onto social media, where they debated on the playerâs release and whether he would take it easy on his rival inmates. ð§ð· The first picture of Ronaldinho playing football in a Paraguayan jail has been released. In Paraguay, the maximum time for the investigation period is six months but Ronaldinho and his brother will be hopeful the process is completed a lot quicker. View the full article
  4. Itâs a dark day for several rock fans across the country today. Legendary band Parikrama mourned the loss of their founder-lead guitarist Sonam Sherpa, who succumbed to cardiac arrest at the age of 48 yesterday, leaving behind three decades of insane riffs, memorable solos and fantastic collaborations that have stood the test of time. View this post on InstagramWith a very heavy heart, we regret to inform the sudden demise of our backbone, Mr. Sonam Sherpa. Itâs very very tough to lose a band mate, a brother and a mentor. Thank you all for all your messages and tributes to Sonam. He sure will have a âGreat Gig in The skyâ. Farewell dear friend.A post shared by (@parikramaindia) Among the first to speak on Sonamâs death was actor-singer Farhan Akhtar, who had collaborated with the band back in 2008. View this post on InstagramIn 2008, post Rock On!!, I was part of a 4 city tour with the amazing #Parikrama and I can never forget or adequately say how thankful I am for the love and warmth that #SonamSherpa extended to this first timer on stage.. he was a gifted guitarist, a supremely cool guy and a true rock star. RIP brother. Deepest condolences to his family. On stage and off it. @subirmalik666 Image @chiragwakaskarA post shared by (@faroutakhtar) Sherpa was born in the hillside, West Bengal town of Kalimpong back in 1971. After making it to New Delhi, the guitarist formed the band in 1991 with Nitin Malik on vocals, Saurabh Choudhary on rhythm guitar, Subir Malik on synths and Gaurav Balani on bass. The group went on to blow peopleâs minds especially through the 90âs as one of the greatest acts in Indian rock history - choosing to keep their music free and not pursuing any copyright violations. They were also notorious for steering clear of making studio albums - prefering to keep things live and right next to their listeners, something quite uncommon today. Composer Ehsaan Noorani also pitched in his condolences on Twitter. Eternal rocker awesome guitarist and a lovely guy #SonamSherpa has gone into the light ... will remember the jams and the hang outs @parikrama pic.twitter.com/7hU2a8Avv1 â Ehsaan Noorani (@EhsaanNoorani) February 14, 2020 Sherpa is one of the reasons why India has a thriving rock scene today - if youâve ever picked up a guitar or been at a gig, chances are that his influence as a musician led to new horizons in what was once a minute, underground scene. Even more important was his intimidating, absolutely badass fretwork through thousands of live performances - a stark contrast to the gentle personality friends and family remember him for. What better way to send off a lead guitarist, than to pick out some of his greatest-ever solos to listen to? If youâre new to the band, hereâs five of Sherpaâs best to add to your playlist. Vapourise But It Rained In The Middle Am I Dreaming Tears Of The Wizard Rest in Peace, Mr. Sherpa - perhaps he's finally part of that Great Gig In The Sky. View the full article

  8. Let's admit that almost everyone has or had one teacher they were biased towards and always looked up to. That teacher was the coolest human being they ever came across. However, that coolness was never related to Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics. Honestly, I can never imagine a Maths or Physics teacher without a grumpy face. They always looked angry or upset wth something or someone. But, Professor David Wright is different and way cooler than people half his age. 9. A high-stakes theatre where men gamble with their lives every time they take out their mean machines in the labyrinth (labelled as race track), Formula One (F1) cannot adequately be described as a mere "sport". Just like the gladiators who were either expected to be killed or incur a fatal injury, F1 drivers are going faster than before. But, while the competition has become more fierce and cars are being made to go much faster, today's generation of race drivers are well aided with technology and other safety measures. From changes in the placement of outside mirrors to improve rear-view visibility, the prohibition of the double diffusers and F-ducts to reduce downforce, to the addition of a Zylon strip across the top of the visor to reinforce the weakest point of the helmets, the new-age of F1 has undoubtedly made the sport much safer. However, long before the unmatched wealth, enhanced safety measures and flamboyant racing drivers dictated the biggest motorsport racing tournament, there existed an era where people dreaded the sight of the drivers getting into their respective cars before the thought "they might never return" kicked into the subconscious. In that era, the fact that F1 was still evolving also meant that there was not much cushion for the drivers. Once they got out on the race track, every driver gambled with their life by trusting in their teams and hoping that their cars were fine-tuned. But, sadly, with technological advancements eluding the engineers back then, the gamble often didn't pay off. As absurd as it may seem, it was their persistent tryst with death that truly made the daredevils of that era feel alive. While many perished on the so-called death tracks, only a few managed to survive fatalities and lived to tell the tale. Amongst those gladiators of F1, Niki Lauda is undeniably the one whose will and perseverance to compete (even if it meant losing his life) made him a cut above the rest. Born into a wealthy family of industrialists in Vienna, Lauda's aspirations of becoming a racing driver suffered an early blow after his family's disapproval. While his father advised him to opt for a career better suited for their family's reputation, Lauda's passion for the sport saw him taking out a bank loan and buying his way into the fledgeling 'March' team as a Formula Two (F2), and later, F1 driver. © Reuters Irked by their son's choice of profession, Lauda's family abandoned further contact with him. But, the Austrian was further dealt a heavy blow when both the March cars were disqualified at the Canadian Grand Prix, in what was arguably the lowest point of the team's 1972 season. Unfazed by his troubles, Lauda opted for another bank loan, only this time buying his way into the BRM team in 1973. Despite being ridiculously quick on the track, Lauda suffered at the hands of declining BRM team. But, just when all hope was lost, the Austrian found a second wind to his professional career when his BRM teammate Clay Regazzoni took him along to Ferrari in 1974. That was undoubtedly the break he needed, and he repaid the faith of Regazzoni and Ferrari by finishing second in his debut race for the team at the Argentine Grand Prix. Having finished fourth in the Drivers' Championship in 1974, Lauda began the next season with early struggles. The first four races of the season saw him securing no better than a fifth-place finish. But, just when people started doubting his talent, Lauda silenced everyone by winning four of the next five races and eventually becoming F1 champion for the 1975 season. His triumph also meant that Ferrari romped their way to the Constructors' Championship win after 11 years. © Reuters Making his intentions clear that season, Lauda dominated the start of the 1976 season, winning four of the first six races and finishing second in the other two. With more than double the points of his closest challengers Jody Scheckter and James Hunt, Lauda was set for a second consecutive World Championship. But then, the unthinkable happened. A week before the German Grand Prix that season, Lauda, despite being the fastest driver at Nurburgring, urged his fellow drivers to boycott the race, citing lack of safety measures including the fire marshals at the notorious race track. However, deeming it a clever ploy by the Austrian to gain easy points, other drivers voted against Lauda's boycott and the race went ahead. Rendered helpless, Lauda participated in the race probably knowing what was to unfold. During the second lap, Lauda was involved in a crash where his car swerved off the track, hit an embankment and burst into flames with the Austrian trapped in the car. While the other drivers pulled their vehicles over to help him, Lauda was still trapped in the searing inferno for almost a minute. He was finally pulled out of the vehicle and rushed to the hospital where he later lapsed into a coma. The pictures of his horrific crash became one of the most devastating things fans had to endure in F1. With Lauda fighting for his life in the hospital, Ferrari roped in Carlos Reutemann as a replacement. And, at a time, when everyone was speculating if he'll actually survive, Lauda shocked everyone by turning up for the Italian Grand Prix, just two races after his crash. With burn marks on his neck and face, and bandages covering his scarred scalp, Lauda, despite unimaginable discomfort, didn't just participate in the Italian Grand Prix, but ended up finishing fourth in what is considered arguably one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history. While he couldn't win the title that season, as Hunt romped to his maiden triumph by a single point, Lauda's passion for the sport made him more than just another F1 champion. © Reuters He went on to win his second F1 world championship in 1977 and announced retirement at the end of the 1979 season to pursue his second passion: civil aviation. Then, in 1982, he once again shocked everyone by returning to the circuit with McLaren, with whom he won his last world championship title in 1984 before calling time on his career for good. A cocky and self-confident Lauda was never one to take no for an answer and ruffled more than a few feathers in F1. But, his expertise, sometimes brutal honesty also won him the friendship of those who recognised his work ethic, analytical mind and willingness to learn from mistakes. Thus, on Monday, when Lauda, who underwent a lung transplant in August last year, passed away, it wasn't just F1 that was robbed of a legend, the sporting world and aspiring sportspersons truly lost an icon.
  10. A couple of decades ago, Limba Ram was the personification of focus and unshaken resolve. His dedication and the will to make his country proud even led him to represent the nation thrice in the Olympics and a 30-m World Record shared with Japan's Takayoshi Matsushita with a score of 357/360 that got him the gold medal at the Beijing Asian Archery Championships, 1992. He was even conferred with the Padma Shri in 2012 by former president Pratibha Patil. © PIB Today, he has lost the ability to keep his hands steady and the cognitive ability to join two sentences together with a hollow stare and a confused look on his face. At the age of 46, Ram is suffering from a neurodegenerative disorder called Parkinson's disease, which impacts the cells present deep inside a human brain that are majorly responsible for transferring messages to the rest of the body for movement purposes. The athlete, who almost won the bronze medal for India back in 1992 currently lies in a six-bed general ward of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) without the funds to limit the spreading of the disease that only gets worse with time leading to the eventual loss of all motor functions and a bedridden living. "The doctors say his illness is not curable but is very much controllable. All my husband needs is good medical treatment which he is getting here with all doctors so supportive and sympathetic towards him. It's just that we need financial support to continue his treatment. Private hospitals in Delhi will charge a fortune, so we can't take him there,” Ram's wife, Merian Jenny said, as reported by the Times of India. The secretary of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), SS Chhabra wrote a letter to the Sports Ministry on 25th April 2019 about the deteriorating condition of the former Indian Olympians, seeking funds to be able to treat his illness in a more fruitful manner. However, the ministry has not reverted yet. While Jenny has faith in the Sports Ministry, her anger is directed towards the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC), where Limba was working before the infamous disease caught hold of him. "Medical bills of Rs 1 lakh are pending with the council and they are not giving us the money. We spent Rs 1.5 lakh on his treatment at the Sawai Man Singh hospital in Jaipur last year. We submitted the bills for reimbursement later on, but only Rs 50,000 has so far been released. It will be of great help if we get that money.”

Though he is a UFC fighter and boxing isn't his major fighting style, he still took on Mayweather and the fight was one of the most awaited and one of the most-watched fights of the decade. © Reuters Conor's physique was also a talking point at the time of that event. In fact, Conor is always in the headlines for his physique before every UFC tournament. He fights in different weight categories and still manages to look lean in every season. Today, we're going to discuss how you can also build an MMA physique like Conor Mcgregor's: Conor Is Not Bulky Like A Bodybuilder You can't call Conor's physique as a bodybuilding marvel. He doesn't have bulky chest or arms like a competitive bodybuilder. Being a martial artist and a UFC fighter, Conor has to be agile, fast and flexible throughout the year to be ready for fights. Thus, he is lean and has decent muscle mass which looks good on him and at his body weight. If your target is to achieve a physique like him, it can be achieved with a disciplined diet and training regime over time. Focus On Building Lean Muscle Mass If you look at Conor's physique carefully, he is not skinny. He is lean and has muscle mass. So, the first thing that you need to do to look at him is to build lean muscle mass. If you're a guy who is skinny, first you'll have to gain muscles. To gain muscles, you will have to go on a calory surplus diet and focus on resistance training at least 4-5 times in the week. Diet should be a little high on carbs and protein with moderate fats. Carbs will help in your training and high protein in your diet will help you recover from your workouts and build muscle mass. On the other hand, if you're a guy who already has decent muscle mass but is bulky, you will have to get lean to look anything like Conor. Conor's body looks chiselled and ripped as his body fat percentage is really low. So, even if you have decent muscle mass but your body fat percentage is high, you will not look lean and ripped. To get ripped, you will have to follow a calorie deficit diet and increase your calorie expenditure over time. This will help you to get lean and your muscles will look more defined like Conor's. © Reuters Include HIIT & MMA Training Conor's workout routine includes HIIT and MMA workouts on a regular basis. This is how he performs explosive moves during his fights. If your target is not just to look like him but also to perform like him, you need to include martial arts as well as HIIT training in your training regime. If you are going to add weight training, schedule your training in such a way that on the days you are training heavy you're not practising MMA. MMA training in itself is demanding and even a few rounds of sparring can drain you out. A good option would be to take martial arts and weight training on alternate days. 12. Virender Sehwag, is known as one of the greatest openers in the history of Indian cricket. Despite the format he played in, he always had a unidirectional approach to batting; and that was to hit the ball beyond the fence. Test cricket was known to be a slow game in India, especially with the legacy of the likes of Sunil Gavaskar. Then came Sachin Tendulkar who brought about a change in the outlook of the audiences towards the longest format of the game. But the real revolution was brought about by the 'Sultan of Multan,' scoring 23 hundreds and amassing 8,000-plus Test runs at an average of just a shade under 50. One of the best moments of his career was when he scored his first triple hundred in Test cricket against arch-rivals, Pakistan in 2004. His knock of 309, including 39 boundaries and six sixes, made him the first Indian to score a triple hundred in Test cricket, surpassing VVS Laxman's 281, the then-highest score by an Indian batsman. On Friday, the same date of 29th March, Viru felt the nostalgia of both his incredible scores and shared his happiness with his fans. 29th March- A date which has ended up becoming special for me. 13. Unless you are living under a rock, you have to have an idea about who Michael Phelps is. Bringing about a revolution in the sport of swimming with more than a decade worth of non-stop dedication to his craft, multiple sessions of 2-3 hours of extreme exertion inside the pool and unbelievably strong self-discipline. Participating in four summer Olympics (2004-2016) during his time as a professional swimmer, the 33-year-old athlete has had two bronze medals, three silver medals and 23 gold medals placed around his neck. This astonishing feat of 28 medals in totality makes him the most successful Olympian in the history of mankind and the competition is not even close. It was, therefore, a moment of honour the sporting fraternity of India to host such a remarkable athlete who visited our land for the very first time. As a brand ambassador of Under Armour, a 23-year-old company that manufactures footwear, sports, and casual apparel, Phelps is here to inaugurate their very first commercial outlet that has opened up in DLF Promenade Mall in New Delhi. View this post on Instagram Level of excitement can't be contained just like the will of 1.3 billion Indians. Catch Michael Phelps at the official store launch of UnderArmour. #IndiaWill A post shared by Under Armour India (@underarmourind) on Mar 22, 2019 at 5:16am PDT During the press gathering of the inauguration, Phelps spoke about the kind of work ethic he used to follow when he was an active swimmer. “In the sport of swimming… if you miss one day, it takes you two days to get back. So, when I spent six years without missing a single day of training, I was getting so much more benefit than the other athletes,” said the 23-time Olympic gold medalist. “They (other swimmers) used to swim for six days. If you take an off on Sunday, you are not back by Tuesday and that's exactly where I was getting so much of extra benefit. Phelps also made it absolutely certain that he will not be returning to the pool after retiring from the game in 2016. “Now if I enter the pool, I don't have the same feel...” “I don't swim anymore. I have lost it,” he jokes. View this post on Instagram ðððððððð 10 years ago today i had the chance to share the pool with these guys once again. A post shared by Michael Phelps (@m_phelps00) on Aug 17, 2018 at 10:14pm PDT Another interesting question was raised by Under Armour CEO, Kevin Plank, who seemed to be equally fascinated by the swimmer as the rest of the reporters at the venue. Plank asked: “Do you love winning or hate losing?” Without hesitating for even a single second, Phelps reverted: “I hate losing. Yes, I do not like to lose. People ask me what goes on inside my mind when I am standing on the swimming block and I say 'nothing does', and that's how it should be. If a race is about to start, I am focused on winning it, and that's just it.” Phelps is the epitome of dedication and yet one of the most humble human beings to have graced the biggest stage of sports ever, and his regimen plays a huge role in building up such a character out of him.
  14. Ronaldo de Assis Moreira aka Ronaldinho is one of the most loved footballers out there and if you ask us, that in itself has to be a great achievement for the athlete. Making a name for himself in his debut at the 1997 FIFA Under-17 World Cup as that kid who dazzled the entire tournament with his drilling skills and tricks, Ronaldinho went on to lead his nation to victory and eternal glory in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. The 2005 Ballon d'Or holder has also had numerous club-level championships and individuals honours especially during his years of prime and optimal performance with Barcelona FC, during which he helped the club bag back to back La Liga and Supercopa de Espana trophies in 2005 and 2006 while also winning the UEFA Champions League in 2006. These statistics and numbers are well-documented, so here are five more facts about the Brazilian legend that are little-known: 1. Second Barcelona Player To Be Cheered By Real Madrid Fans The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is older than time itself. People of Barcelona don't like Los Blancos and Real fans hate Lionel Messi's face. To put things in perspective, consider the example of Luis Figo who made the grave mistake of moving from Barca to Madrid and got a pig's head thrown at him during an El Clasico encounter in 2000. But all that hate melted away, albeit for a day, when in 2005, Ronaldinho put on a show at the Bernabeu as he scored two of the three goals for his side as Barca won 3-0. His amazing ball control and two great runs with the ball earned him a nod from the Real Madrid fans and Ronaldinho became only the second Barcelona player to get a standing ovation from them after Diego Maradona in 1983. 2. Lost His Coca-Cola Sponsorship For Drinking Pepsi At A Press Conference During his prime, the Brazilian signed a multi-year six-figure deal with the beverage giant Coca-Cola as the company's sporting brand ambassador. Like any other product based deal, an obvious clause about not consuming a different brand's product from the same genre, in public was included. © Yahoo But the athlete was seen drinking Pepsi at one of the press conferences and the decision-makers at Coca-Cola were not happy, thereby taking away the lucrative contract from the star for breach of contract. 3. Scored 23 Goals In A Single Game © Pinterest He was given the nickname 'Ronaldinho' because of the fact that he was often the youngest and smallest player of the team that he used to play for. But why did these teams select such a small kid as a part of their squads? Here's why: As a 13-year-old, he went on to score a total of 23 goals in a local youth league catching the attention of the team selectors ahead of the Under-17 World Cup. Brazil even won the FIFA Under 17 World Championship in 1997. 4. His 2005 Nike Ad Was The First Video To Cross 1 Million Views On YouTube Even if you are not a dedicated football fan, chances are that you have already seen this Nike commercial from 2005. After all, this was probably the very first video that went 'viral' on the net as it crossed the one million mark on YouTube becoming the first video ever to do so. The advert shows Ronaldinho lacing up his new Nike kicks before putting up an amazing display of accuracy and dribbling skills as he shoots the ball at the crossbar four consecutive times without dropping it even once. Sure it seems that the video is doctored (it has to be, right?) but it did break the internet back then. 5. Ran His Own Line Of Condoms Known for trying his best to create awareness about safe *** and HIV/AIDS and how to avoid the disease, Ronaldinho also ran his own line of condoms by the name of '*** Free'. © Facebook/Ronaldinho The range carried the slogan 'EU SOU GALO', which means 'I am Galo'; Galo is the name of the football club Atletico Mineiro for which the Brazilian used to place at the time of the product's launch. Galo, when translated to English, also means a rooster which is also known as 'you know what'.

  16. Marvel fans are still mourning the loss of the legend that is Stan Lee and he obviously needed an amazing farewell from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and they managed to pull that off with 'Captain Marvel'. 18. Arguably the most popular sportsperson in India and one of the greatest cricketers to have blessed the game, Sachin Tendulkar continues to live in the memories of a billion fans through his rich legacy in the gentleman's game. While his exquisite stroke-play enticed the spectators, his humility earned him respect of his opponents in cricketing circles. Now retired and enjoying his life, Tendulkar, still, garners public interest like no other in the country. His words of wisdom on the social media are hailed as The Bible by cricketers and fans alike. And, apart from cricket, Tendulkar, over the years, has confessed his love for tennis. He has been snapped with the bigwigs of tennis and is often found sitting in the stands during the Grand Slams. And, with the Australian Open currently in progress, Tendulkar was recently seen lauding the security guard who stopped 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer from entering the locker room at the Rod Laver Arena as the Swiss ace didn't carry his identification card with him. 19. When the sun rose on 17th November 1962, it was a new day full of opportunities and newer possibilities for every person. The early winter morning didn't betray the hidden chain of events that were to unravel as the day progressed. 21-year-old Jaswant Singh Rawat, of the famed Garhwal Rifles Regiment, was deployed in the NEFA region on this fateful day along with his unit - 4 Garhwal Rifles. The Indo-China war in the northeastern region of Nuranang (present-day Arunachal Pradesh) was soon to face the fourth assault from the Chinese Army, the final one after its two previous attacks were neutralised by his battalion. An attack that would turn this young braveheart into a legend. © YouTube Born on 19th August 1941 to Guman Singh Rawat in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Jaswant joined the Indian Army on 19th August 1960, aged 19 years, as a Rifleman. On 17th November 1962, when the troops of Garhwal Rifles were ordered to retreat from the Battle of Nuranang, Jaswant refused to budge and desert his post. It was the last phase of the war, which had otherwise fared poorly for the Indian Army, as the Indian troops began to fray from a shortage of manpower and ammunition. So when the Chinese attacked that morning from the Sela top, they did not expect to encounter the daredevilry and rare courage of a young Indian soldier to come in their way and destroy their bigger plans. © YouTube The attack, which started on the morning on 17th November, went on for the next seventy-two hours. At one point, when the Chinese came to close to his company with an MMG, Jaswant decided to make the ultimate sacrifice and went ahead to neutralise it with Lance Naik Trilok Singh Negi and Rifleman Gopal Singh Gusain. In the events that followed, Jaswant held on to his post alone, fired continuously from different bunkers, and ended up killing almost 300 Chinese soldiers single-handedly, before he was fatally injured by the Chinese. This one selfless act turned the course of the entire battle and helped the Indian troops get an edge. The Indian Army was able to stop the Chinese progress into Arunachal Pradesh. It turned Jaswant into a legend and the locals have event erected a Buddhist temple at the spot. © Wikipedia Not just the locals, but even the Indian Army has kept Jaswant alive amongst them. According to an India Times report, a hut has been constructed on the spot where he was Martyred. The bed placed inside the hut is kept neat and tidy by the Army jawans posted there, while his shoes are regularly polished and letters sent to Jaswant are kept in the hut for Jaswant to read, and taken away the following day. It is also believed that this fourth assault gave rise to the legend of Baba Jaswant Singh who guards the Indian borders in the East. The locals also give a different account of the of the events that unravelled that day. They believe that when Jaswant's company fell back, he remained at his post. Then along with the help of two Monpa porter-girls, he set up weapons at different spots and kept firing at the Chinese troops in rotation, which created an illusion that the Chinese were facing the entire battalion instead of just one soldier. © Rediff/Rajesh Karkera It was only when the Chinese captured the man who supplied Jaswant with ration that they realised the actual situation. Following this revelation, one of the Monpa girls was killed in a grenade attack and the other was captured, while Jaswant killed himself by shooting a bullet to his head to prevent his own capture. No matter which version of the story we wish to believe, there is no denying the show of ultimate courage and sacrifice by him when was faced with a possibility that could cost his country a part of it's being and identity. Jaswant Singh Rawat, who was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra (posthumously), deserves to be remembered as the hero that he is, by one and all.
  20. It was a dark day for the true fans of cricket who truly appreciate the diversity the sport aims to bring together, no thanks to the captain of the Pakistani cricket team, Sarfraz Ahmed, who racially taunted South African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second of five ODIs in Durban on Tuesday. After an underwhelming batting display put up by the Pakistani team who were all out on 205, Proteas all-rounder, Phehlukwayo won the match with an exceptional 69-run innings to tie the ODI series at 1-1 and was also declared the Man of the Match for the outing. However, during his innings, the Pakistani bowlers decided their level best to bowl him out but none of the six were able to send him away. A very furious and frustrated Ahmed eventually made a debacle of an attempt to sledge the batsman by saying: "Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya padhwa ke aaye hai aaj? (Hey black guy, where's your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?).” Sarfaraz Ahmed to Andile Phehlukwayo: "abbay kaale teri Ami kahan bethi hoyi hain aaj, kya parhwa kay aya hai aaj" "black man wheres your mother sat? Hours after Ahmed took a firing by angry cricket fans on the internet, another Pakistani Hall of Famer, Shoaib Akhtar decided to publicly ridicule the skipper's comments in a minute and a half long video on Facebook. “I strongly condemn it (Ahmed's racist comments) as a Pakistani. In my opinion, it was absolutely disgusting what he's said,” said the pacer. “I think he should publicly apologise for it.” “As a Pakistani captain, he should lead by example and inspire others as well.” Akhtar said. Akhtar's video was appreciated by many who showed their support on Twitter as well: Standing against racist comments. . . Looking forward to strict action — FAHAD (@FAHADBILADIWALA) January 23, 2019 Captain doing such act.. what a shame.. disrespect — Shubham Tiwari (@Shubhamt208) January 23, 2019 There should be a suspension as these were very disgraceful comments passed by sarfraz. A captain should set the standards rather than being a disgrace himself — shehzad nasir (@nasir364) January 23, 2019 Shoaib bhai, this is not a heat of the moment thing. He had no idea what he was saying - these things are a part of Pakistani culture and language and he is ignorant. That being said, I agree, he needs to apologize and maybe be banned. — Zeeshan Anwar (@zeeshanwar_) January 23, 2019

  23. In our growing years, comic books, especially 'The Jungle Book', stayed with us for most part of our childhood. Kids today will never understand the excitement and thrill of watching a young kid being raised in the jungle by a pack of wolves, a panther and a bear and how they help him fight Shere Khan. Netflix Now, Netflix is coming up with its own version called 'Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle', which is darker and spectacular than any other version we've seen. In case, you missed the trailer that was released earlier this month, you can watch it here again. Today, Netlfix announced the Hindi cast of the movie that will premiere globally on December 7, 2018. Actor Anil Kapoor has been roped in for the role of Baloo, Abhishek Bachchan will play Bagheera, Madhuri Dixit Nene will be Nisha, Kareena Kapoor Khan will play snake Kaa, and Jackie Shroff will play Shere Khan. View this post on Instagram The voices of the jungle are calling. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle on Netflix December 7. A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in) on Nov 19, 2018 at 9:30pm PST Andy Serkis, who is making his directorial debut with this movie will play Baloo the bear, Rohan Chand will play Mowgli, Christian Bale will play Bagheera, Cate Blanchett will play snake Kaa, and Benedict Cumberbatch will play Shere Khan. Mathew Rhys and Freida Pinto too will be a part of the movie. Netflix In the Netflix adaptation, Mowgli will find himself torn between two worlds and how he accepts his destiny and becomes a legend. Reportedly, Netflix has picked India for the world premiere of this movie, and it's a huge deal because it will be for the first time that a big-budget Hollywood movie will have its premiere in India.
  24. We all loved 'The Jungle Book' when it came out about two years ago, and it was honestly way better in Hindi than English. Now, we will soon have another retelling of the tale with a much darker storyline. The trailer for 'Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle' is here and it looks visually spectacular. Netflix unveiled the trailer with the announcement of its worldwide release. The movie will have a limited release in theatres but that's just in the US, so for us the movie will be streaming on Netflix on December 7. It's a dark tale of a human baby left in an Indian jungle to be raised by a pack of wolves, Bagheera, and Baloo. But then, Mowgli had to return to the 'man world' and leave the jungle after getting threats from Shere Khan. Obviously, his transition from the animal world to the human world was not at all smooth with the kid having an identity crisis. © Netflix Not just the premise, but even the star-cast is incredible in this one. Rohan Chand is taking on the role of Mowgli while Andy Serkis, who is making his directorial debut with this movie, will play Baloo the bear, and Christian Bale takes on the role of Bagheera. Cate Blanchett has taken on the role of snake Kaa, and Benedict Cumberbatch will portray the antagonist Shere Khan. Both Matthew Rhys and Freida Pinto are also a part of the movie. © Netflix Yes, a good star-cast doesn't always ensure a great movie but the trailer was so great, I have no doubts everyone will be watching this one for sure. Also, no offence to Christian and Benedict, but are we getting a Hindi dubbed version of this one as well? I would be more interested in that, tbh.
