  1. The much-anticipated 'The Long Night' episode of 'Game of Thrones' aired earlier this week. Die-hard fans, who watched the episode, were left rather disappointed when multiple scenes were too dark for them make out what's actually happening in the Battle of Winterfell. Well, after receiving a lot of criticism for the poorly-lit episode, the show's cinematographer Fabian Wagner decided to give some clarity. But instead of apologizing, he defended his artistic choices. © HBO Wagner said he filmed the episode in such a fashion on purpose. He said the show was directed and shot like a cinematic experience that could be viewed in a movie theatre. He went on to blame the viewers' TV settings and the quality of the screens. “A lot of the problem is that a lot of people don't know how to tune their TVs properly,” Wagner said while speaking to Wired UK and TMZ. “I know it wasn't too dark because I shot it”, said Wagner. While we appreciate Wagner and his team's intentions and effort to deliver a cinematic experience, it doesn't really make any sense. Like, why would you try to deliver a theatrical experience and make it fit for big screens when the show is not going to be shown in any theatres in the first place? © HBO Millions of people watch it on their TVs or stream it at a compressed quality on OTT platforms like Hotstar on small screens like smartphones, tablet, etc. In fact, Wagner himself noted that HBO's compression of the episode to help smooth over the streaming process, majorly ruined the experience. Then why not shoot the show with proper lighting, so it looks good on all screens? His excuse falls apart right there? Also, it's not the first episode of the show, where the scenes were supposed to be dark. We've seen a lot of 'dark' episodes of the show in the past which were quite enjoyable and, most importantly, easy to watch. So, we can't help but raise questions here when he says “the showrunners decided that this had to be a dark episode”. Yes, the idea was to show an impactful battle, but what good are the efforts when people can't even see what's happening in the battle?
  2. It's been 10 years since 'Game Of Thrones' has been building up to the battle with the 'White Walkers' from the very first episode of the series. It's been 8 seasons now and we finally got to see the battle everybody had been waiting for. 'The Long Night', aired yesterday and even though it was a directorial marvel for a TV show, it was lacking in almost every way. Many fans of the show were left disappointed simply because logic and story arcs didn't add up. If you haven't watched the episode, this post contains spoilers, so avoid reading further. Currently, the third episode of Season 8 sits at 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the third lowest rated episode in the show's history. Here's why we feel the 'Battle of Winterfell' was disappointing. There are plenty of plot-holes and some scenes defy logic based on what was set up in the very same episode. Here's our deep analysis: 1. The Night King's Death © HBO If you've seen the episode, you already know that Arya kills the Night King with her Valyrian “CatsPaw” dagger. Just to make it clear, Arya killing the Night King was a true badass moment and is a great example of women empowerment in movies and TV shows. In fact, many other franchises could learn a thing or two from this particular episode. Our problem has nothing to do with who killed the Night King, its to do with how Arya got there in the first place. Just a few minutes ago, Arya was involved in a stealth scene hiding from Wights by hiding behind bookshelves and under a table. In the scene, the wights could hear her blood drops hitting the floor and could find the source of the sound. A few scenes later, are you trying to tell us that a horde of silent wights and white walkers could not detect Arya jumping 30 feet to kill the nightwalker? They could not hear Arya sneaking around in the bushes or the snow? Considering that a few moments ago they could hear blood drops but not her sneaking around in the middle of all the White Walkers? You could say that she's been trained by the “Faceless Man” and may have acquired some mind-blowing stealth tricks, but the scene prior to that totally negates her abilities. 2. This Is 'Game Of Thrones', Not a Disney Movie © HBO The one thing that made 'Game Of Thrones' special was its ability to be bold, daring and risky when it came to killing off characters. The show has unexpected moments where it doesn't fear killing off key characters in the most brutal manner. That's what sets 'GOT' apart from other fantasy franchises. In 'The Long Night', possibly the biggest and most brutal battle in the show's history, almost every named character survives. From 60,000 souls defending Winterfell, only Jorah Mormont, Berric Dondorrian, Lyanna Mormont, Edd and Melisandre died? Are you kidding me? (c) HBO If there were at least double the deaths, this would classify as a classic 'GOT' episode. However, HBO opted to play safe and made sure almost all the main characters survive. This isn't a Disney movie, this is 'Game Of Thrones'. What defies logic is that Jorah Mormont, a skilled knight who defended himself from every Wight that came his way till the very end; died, but someone like Sam Tarly who was literally flat on his butt for the entirety of the episode survived? What were the show-runners smoking? Where is the logic? Where are the loremasters when you need them? Is this a result of simply rushing the TV show and playing it safe at the same time? © HBO We all know White Walkers have taken inspiration from just about every Zombie movie, TV show and book possible. We were expecting some of our favourite characters turn into a wight; which never happened. We expected one of the characters witnessing their loved one die and convert right in front of them and having to kill them. It would have been a very emotional moment but we never got to see that. It's the simplest trope you get to see in every Zombie movie but HBO never ventured that far. 3. There Was No Tactical Strategy © HBO In the history of warfare, when you are defending a siege, you do not break the line and send out the cavalry to sacrifice themselves in the battlefield. It seems like HBO probably did not use any warfare advisors for this episode as it's simply not logical to send out the cavalry to test your opponents. It's suicide and we got to see the very same thing happen in this episode. In 'The Long Night', the Dothraki were ordered to charge at the incoming onslaught. This move is called 'Custer' but generally ends up in major losses. 'GOT' could have taken a cue from other movies that have dealt with similar scenarios. For example, movies like 'Braveheart', 'LOTR', 'Kingdom of Heaven', and countless others all have similar scenarios where they defend a position and these movies depicted battles as accurately as possible. Hell, even in the 'Battle of Bastards' it was pointed out that charging at an enemy that outnumbers you is suicide. Seriously, I'm done. 4. There Was Nothing Long About This Night A TV series that has literally spent an entire season to kill major characters ended the most anticipated battle in just 82 minutes? I mean if 'The Long Night' is depicted in just 82 minutes then we need to re-define what 'long' really means. This was a battle that has been anticipated from the very first episode of the show and all we got was a disappointing end to the battle. HBO should have spent more time to depict one of the most epic battles in the show's history and not concluded the battle in just one episode. We wanted to see some epic fights, some emotional scenes and some shocking moments. We got to see none of that and many fans simply reacted to the episode with “meh.” 5. We Couldn't See A Thing #GameofThrones s8e3 spoiler without context pic.twitter.com/lw3ipGS4Zi — 9GAG (@9GAG) April 29, 2019 In the post-episode interview, the show-runners said that they wanted a realistic feel to the episode where everything was dark. What baffles me is that there's literally nothing real about 'GOT'. It's a fantasy fiction show where we deal with dragons, zombies, incest and whatever else you can think of. We wanted to see an epic battle depicting one of the most defining moments of TV history. There was no need for keeping the entire environment dark when you could simply represent it in many other ways. 'LOTR' did it in the "battle of Gondor", 'Avengers: Endgame' did it effectively in their final battle; then what was the need for keeping everything dark? A Redditor claims that HBO simply used this tactic to hide special effects. In fact, this episode probably didn't have enough extras to show off a horde of 100,000 wights. I mean why wouldn't you show off one of the greatest armies assembled in the history of TV? Why would you hide a majority of your special effects unless something is really wrong? Unless someone forgot to bring a lighting rig, I can't think of any other excuse for this goof up.
  3. The third episode of the final season of 'Game Of Thrones' was full of surprises. The abrupt death of the Night King and his army of the undead, who have been hyped for so long, is still hard to process. © HBO While the Night King and the White Walkers have been the greatest threat inside the 'Game Of Thrones' world, the conflict central to the storyline is, however, the politics over the Iron Throne, and as it turns out, the Night King doesn't prove to be the prime enemy in this narrative. © HBO However, look at it this way. Cersei Lannister is sitting on the Iron Throne right now. She's had to manipulate, betray and even sacrifice her way to the top. But is she a fitting Queen for the Westerosi? She's already put the throne in debt by getting the Golden Company's army. In all these seasons, she's given little to no importance to the people around her, including her own brother Jaime. And if you look at the death count, you'll realize that the lives of all the major characters are still intact. Theon and Ser Jorah, Beric and Edd were the main characters that died. The people that survived included Brienne, Podrick, Tormund, and Grey Worm, who all seemed truly doomed at various moments. All named characters hiding in the crypts appeared to survive, as did both dragons and Jon's direwolf, Ghost. It was much less death than expected, in terms of the major characters. The only war that matters now, lies South, where Cersei is definitely in no mood to give her throne up. The Mad Queen is a more appropriate villain, a kind whose ulterior motives can at least be attempted to understand by the audience. Her surprising twists in the past have never failed to surprise us. She clearly has something up her sleeve that could shock us along with her enemies.
  4. The long weekend is here and in case you're not doing anything, just being a couch potato, nursing bad health or loaded with work which barred you from leaving town, then my guess is that like most of us, binge-watching will be the only plan you'll have. Here are 5 interesting suggestions for you for this weekend: 1. Hanna- This drama series follows a 15-year-old girl, Hanna who is being hunted down by a CIA agent. This dark show could be a good binge watch for you! 2. The OA 2- Brit Marling is back with her brilliance. If you followed Prairie and her friends travelling across dimensions of time in the 1st season and were left shook with what followed, this one is more layered and complicated like something you didn't imagine. 3. McMafia- Nawaz fans already devoured it last year but in case you haven't, this is a good show to binge watch. The BBC drama has Nawaz playing a Mumbai importer, Dilly Mahmood. The series revolves around Alex Goldman who is brought up by Russian exiles. Makes for a good binge watch. 4. Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé- You don't need any more reasons to watch the madness and the sheer dedication that goes behind the planning of a Beyoncé concert. This is basically a testament of her persona, just watch it already. 5. Our Planet- This series explores the wonders of the world in eight parts. This insane project was in the works for over 4 years and was shot in over 50 countries. Just prepare to be mesmerised.
  5. You don't necessarily need to have deep pockets to buy a good flagship phone in 2019. There are some amazing options out there from the likes of OnePlus, Honor, etc. Heck, even Apple proved that with the iPhone XR last year, that offered almost all flagship features at a reasonable price. Now this year, it's Samsung who's trying to do the same with its Galaxy S10e. Yes, it's a phone for those who envy all the flagship features of the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus but aren't willing to shell out big bucks. Well, if you are that person, then I am here to tell you that it's a great idea. I say that because I've spent the better part of the last few weeks using the Galaxy S10e as my daily driver, and I absolutely love it. In fact, I think this is the best Galaxy model for most people who're looking to buy one of the newer Galaxy S10 phones. Let me tell you why: Design & Display Of course, the first thing that I am going to talk about is the size of this phone. The Galaxy S10e is a small and compact phone. It's very much a one-handed device, and my palm completely wraps around it. It's one of those cute little phones that are really hard to find these days. Everyone who I handed over this phone to, was surprised by how tiny and compact it is. Just perfect! © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla From the power button/ fingerprint scanner on the right-hand side of the phone to the volume rockers and the Bixby button on the left, I was easily able to reach all of them without any issues. Trust me, that's not something I can say for all the phones in 2019. And before I proceed, let me acknowledge the fact that this phone has a great fingerprint scanner. Easy to reach and amazingly fast. I'd also like to point out that the Galaxy S10e, because of the smaller form factor, makes it look and feel different from the bunch. That, however, isn't necessarily a bad thing. I still love the Galaxy S10e. It's a premium looking device with glass on both front and back with an aluminium frame. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla On to the front, the Galaxy S10e has a 5.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It doesn't have WQHD+ screen resolution unlike the other two variants, but you won't really notice it. The screen looks sharp, plus it's HDR10+ certified, so it has great colour accuracy which makes it great for content consumption. And thanks to its bezel-less design, the Galaxy S10e is even smaller than the Pixel 3, which has a 5.5-inch display in comparison. Samsung managed to pull off the bezel-less design by punching a hole in the display for the front-facing camera. I honestly still find it a little distracting, but there's not a lot that you can do to avoid it besides using some clever wallpapers to hide from the home screen as I did. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla The hole-punch display or the Infinity-O display, as Samsung likes to call it, didn't really bother me that much. It's still an awesome display to consume content, be it gaming or watching Netflix, etc. If you hate it though, then sadly you'll either have to stick to a phone with a display notch or a pop-up camera module like the Vivo V15 Pro. Overall, I'd say the Galaxy S10e scores full marks in the design and display department. It looks and feels like a premium Galaxy flagship in every way, only smaller. Its pocketable size in an era of phones with massive footprints is a breath of fresh air, and I am sure you'll love it. Performance The Samsung Galaxy S10e is armed with Samsung's new Exynos 9820 along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which you can expand via a microSD card upto 512GB. Now, in case you're a fan of benchmarks, then let me get that out of the way before I talk about my day-to-day experience with the phone. I ran the Galaxy S10e through Geekbench 4, AnTuTu, and 3DMark, and here's how it performed - © MensXP In Geekbench, the Galaxy S10e scored a single-core score of 4,496 and a multi-core score of 10,129. It scored 322,973 in Antutu, finally scored 4,309 in 3DMark's Sling Shot Extreme test. These results, I'd say are on par with other flagship phones on the market. And that also translates to great real-world performance as well. But that's not really a surprise, is it? I am yet to have noticed a single stutter or a hint of lag. I like to give credits where it's due, so I'd like to point out that the Samsung's new OneUI is in-part responsible for that. The UI is nice and clean, and I am really happy with how far Samsung has managed to come from the old Touchwiz interface. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Even with 6GB of RAM, you'll be getting the full flagship power. I also played games like PUBG and Asphat 9, and the phone was able to run even the most demanding titles without breaking a sweat. So overall, it is safe to say that the Galaxy S10e doesn't stray far from the regular S10 or the S10 Plus's performance benchmark. You'll essentially get the same performance in, you know, a smaller package. Since we're talking about the hardware, I think it's a good time to point out the Galaxy S10e has a 3.5mm headphone and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Oh, and the speakers? Well, they're just as good as the ones you'll find on the standard Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10 Plus. Biometrics As I mentioned previously in this review, the Galaxy S10e has a traditional scanner on the side, instead of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Am I complaining about it? Absolutely not. In fact, I am glad that I didn't have to put up with a slower and a comparatively less accurate scanner. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Also, the side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S10e is located in a perfect spot, in my opinion. It's the spot where my thumb naturally rests on the phone, making it very quick and easy to scan or even pull down my notification shade. And did I tell you that it's really fast? In case you're not a fan of a physical fingerprint scanner for some reason, then you can choose to use Samsung's face unlock to get into the phone. It's obviously not as reliable or secure, but it gets the job done too. Camera Oh yes, the cameras! Unlike the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus, the S10e only has two rear-facing cameras. There's a 12-megapixel wide angle camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera for times when you want to fit more of everything into an image. It lacks the telephoto camera, but frankly, it's not something you should worry about too much. Simply put, the cameras on the S10e are fantastic. If I am being completely honest, I kinda missed shooting pictures with a Samsung phone, and it was great having it around during my testing period. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla As you can see, all the images shot from the Galaxy S10e have plenty of detail. The photos, as usual, look nice and vivid. Samsung's image processing is also playing a huge role here to make the flowers and monuments looks a tad bit better on screen. I couldn't compare the S10e's cameras with that of the Galaxy S10 or S10 Plus, but I am sure there's not a big difference in terms of the quality. I also had a great time testing the phone's ultra-wide camera too. This ultra-wide camera, in case you're wondering, captures a 123-degree field of view, with which you can fit in more people or literally mimic what you see in front of you in the real world. The ultra-wide shots are taken with the 16-megapixel sensor, so you'll have a lot of details to play around. The front-facing camera takes great selfies too. It only has a single 10-megapixel sensor on the front, but you can use the software to fit in a few more people in the shot. The shooting modes are more less similar to what you get with the standard Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus. There's a 'Live Focus' mode which works really well. Then there are some other interesting modes like Instagram, with which you can post the image straight to Instagram as a post or a story. Battery Life Now that I've talked about everything that's good with the phone, let me address my only real concern here: the battery life. Samsung has tucked in a 3,100 mAh battery, and all things considered, it's a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, you'll still be able to get through a full day with moderate usage, but it's not a heavy hitter. © MensXP I'll admit, I tend to push my phones pretty hard, so I wasn't really surprised with the battery life here. During my testing, I used the phone to do all my basic tasks like playing games, using 4G LTE to do some web-browsing, mindless Instagram scrolling, watching movies, shows on Netflix, among other things. I was able to get around 4 to 4 and a half hours of screen on time, and I found myself reaching for the charger every single night. In addition to the fast wireless charging support, the Galaxy S10e also supports Samsung's new Wireless PowerShare feature, with which you can charge other wireless charging-compatible devices by placing them on the back of the device. I feel like it's a cool party trick that can come handy at times when you need to charge smaller devices like your earbuds, etc. The Final Say © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla So, should you drop your money on the Galaxy S10e to make it your next phone? Well, if you are looking for a small and compact phone that performs well and has great cameras, then go for it. Yes, it falls well short of perfection in the battery life department, but given the fact that you're getting so much for as little as Rs. 55,990, I am willing to make that detrimental sacrifice here and recommend it. Seriously, the Galaxy S10e is only the best 'compact' phone I've tested in a long time, but it's also the best value Galaxy S model this year. And like I said, it's the Galaxy phone that most people should buy this year without the fear of missing out flagship features found on other phones.
  6. The financial year end is here and you would be stuck in the office for long hours neck deep in work. You would barely be getting enough sleep let alone the time to go to the gym. via GIPHY Here is what usually happens during such time, you end up gaining weight, your waistline increases horizontally and you lose the motivation to go to the gym altogether. Well, guess what? If you are gaining a lot of weight and getting fatter during this time, it is YOUR fault. via GIPHY Yes, you read that right. Now, I am not here to blame you. Rather, I am saying that it is you who has control over these things. If you are smart enough, you can manage your fitness just right at this time and get back to progress as soon as the workload drops. 1. Add Some Activity To Your Sedentary Routine via GIPHY Most jobs require you to sit all day long and this drops your activity all day long. You can include very simple things like taking the stairs in place of the elevator, getting up from your desk whenever you get a chance and get a 5-minute walk, and so on. Just increasing this activity can help you burn 100 - 200 extra calories a day. 2. Get In A Quick Workout Session via GIPHY Cannot get to the gym? No problem. Understand that during this stressful time, your goal is to maintain and do enough. Do simple things like having a quick 15-min workout in the morning by doing 50 push-ups and 50 body squats. It is not comparable to the gym but it is something. The extra benefit being you will feel fresh and have a great start to the day. 3. Stop Mindless Binging via GIPHY I have worked in a corporate structure and they do little things to make your life a bit more comfortable there. And yes, most of this comfort is adding to your waistline. I have seen pantries filled with biscuits and chips and most employees walking to the pantries and getting these things to the table and mindlessly eating them. One simple thing - Out of sight, out of mind. Do not stock your tables with these high-calorie foods as you never know you may end up eating a 1000 extra calories a day. 4. Use Low-Calorie Beverages via GIPHY At times when you are stressed out, you do feel the need to eat or drink something. Instead of going with the juices loaded with a lot of calories, you can pick low-calorie beverages like salted lemonades, lemon sodas with salt, diet coke, green tea, or black coffee. These little things will simply help you maintain your fitness during these stressful times and you would not go down that road where you start ignoring your health and pile on a ton of weight in the future and regret it. 7. If you love Marvel, you can watch any of the MCU movies for hours and hours without any complain and this is coming from someone who watched 'Avengers: Infinity War' twice yesterday just because it came on TV twice. So, obviously when people heard about the running time possibly being around three hours for 'Avengers: Endgame', everyone was just excited and was already deciding how to hold in their pee while watching the movie, so they don't miss even a second. Now that the actual running time is out - 3 hours and 2 minutes - most people are just calling the Russo Brothers cowards because we all would watch the movie without a break even if it was, say 10 hours long. 8. The Khurana brothers are perhaps the most stylish siblings in Bollywood right now, and even though Ayushmann usually is the forerunner in terms of kickass style moves, Aparshakti is not far behind at all. He just demonstrated it once again with his accessory game, by wearing an industrial belt that's more than 6 Feet 7 Inches in length. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Aparshakti is wearing the Off-White industrial yellow belt that was showcased first during Virgil Abloh's Fall-Winter collection in 2016. 9. The Apple Watch has been dominating the wearables market ever since it was announced and is now considered the best smartwatch there is. The Apple Watch has added many useful features over the years, however, it lacked one feature that has been absent for a while. © Pillow The Cupertino giant is rumoured to be testing sleep tracking securely and according to insiders who spoke to Bloomberg and detailed Apple's plans. The Apple Watch is expected to launch the sleep tracking feature in 2020 and will essentially also kill third-party apps that are currently offering the same feature on the Apple Watch. Currently, apps like Pillow and Sleep++ offer a similar feature where it tracks a user's sleeping patterns and habits. Smartwatches that tend to have a sleep tracking feature usually last for days due to a larger battery. This will be a major hurdle for Apple to overcome, as the Apple Watch can last only for a day on a full charge. Apple may have to outfit the 2020 Apple Watch with a bigger battery or add a low power setting for speed mode. © Beddit Apple recently bought Beddit, a company that makes sleep tracking devices as well as apps for iOS and the Apple Watch. The company also launched a sensor strip that can be placed underneath a bed seat to track sleeping patterns and snoring habits. Sleep-tracking has been one of the most requested features by Apple Watch users, however, Apple will have to either increase the battery capacity or come up with a different solution in order to run this feature. We can only be sure when the new Apple Watch will be announced this year and its capabilities and see if it hints at the upcoming feature with a larger battery or a new power saving mode.
  10. Last November, the Indian cricket team embarked on a long journey away from home that included gruelling tours of Australia and New Zealand. During that time, India drew the Twenty20 International (T20I) series before winning the Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Australia. And then, they travelled to New Zealand where they demolished the hosts in ODIs before stuttering in the T20Is. While their overseas tour has come to an end, India, now, await their next challenge which, once again, involves the Australian brigade. With revenge on their mind, the Aussie team will travel to India for two T20Is and five ODIs, slated to begin from 24th February. But, after spending three months on the road, the Indian cricketers finally had a breather as the T20I series against Australia is still more than a week away. Several Indian cricketers were seen making the most of their time at home after they shared pictures and videos on the social media. From Rohit Sharma to Virat Kohli, here's how Indian cricketers are unwinding following their long overseas tour: Rohit Sharma How happily he is playing with his daughterâ¤ð! But, the 'Hitman' did find a reason to cheer for as he became the leading run-getter in the shortest format following a brilliant fifty in the second T20I in Auckland. Upon his return to India, Rohit was elated to spend time with his daughter 'Samaira'. A video of Rohit playing with his daughter was also shared on the social media. Thanks to his exploits, the wrist-spinner recently notched up a career-best second position in the ICC's T20I rankings for bowlers. Clearly, the young spinner was happy to be home as he shared a photograph of himself in the company of his Team India mates Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal. While he did get a lot of starts, Dhawan just couldn't capitalise and convert them into big individual scores. With the Aussies coming to India this month, Dhawan will be eager to make his presence felt in a bid to win over the fans. And, that's exactly what might have been on his mind when he shared a brief video where the left-hander can be seen doing push-up on his knuckles. Virat Kohli Instagram After helping his side in gaining an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series, Kohli was rested from the last two 50-over contests and the three T20Is against New Zealand. While his team stuttered to a narrow 2-1 loss in the T20Is, Kohli was seen exploring the scenic beauty of New Zealand with wife Anushka Sharma. Early on Tuesday, the couple returned home and as soon as they landed at the Mumbai airport, the Indian captain shared a selfie of their arrival with the cricket fans on the social media. Dinesh Karthik Instagram The Indian middle-order batsman was recently slammed for his antics during India's four-run loss against New Zealand in the deciding T20I. His decision to deny Krunal Pandya a crucial single in the final over didn't go down well with the fans. Karthik did manage to hit a six off the last ball, but it wasn't good enough to take India home. But, that is now a thing of the past. The T20I series is done and dusted. And, Karthik is just happy to be back home and dig in to south Indian delicacies. The former Indian captain shut his critics with his 'Player of the Series' performance in the ODIs against Australia and then continued to play a crucial role in the middle-order against the Kiwis. On the back of some sublime performances, Dhoni has not only won over fans, but has also impressed the selectors who'll surely take note of his exploits before announcing the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup in England and Wales. But, for now, Dhoni seemed really happy to return home.
  11. Someone telling you that you smell great is the best kind of compliment you could get. Your favourite cologne or perfume can make a great impression on ladies. But only if it lasts long enough. When you hustle all day at the office from 9 am to 5 pm, your signature scent tends to fade off. What's the point of spending so much money on perfumes if they won't last long enough? Here are a few ways to make sure your perfume lasts longer for that great first impression: 1. Stop Spraying It On Your Clothes © Gettyimages If you are guilty of doing so like most people are, correct your ways. When you spray cologne all over your clothes, you not only ruin them but also make the perfume disperse. The airflow causes perfume to disperse and leaves you with a dying fragrance all day. Spray it on your body to make sure it stays put all day long. 2. Rubbing Your Wrists Together Is A Big No-No © Gettyimages Just because you've been doing it since ages doesn't mean it's the right way. When you rub your wrists together, you're just diffusing the top notes and leaving the middle and base notes of your fragrance. For a long-lasting cologne, rubbing your wrists to absorb it isn't the way to go. Let it air-dry for that fresh smell all day. 3. Layer Your Fragrances © Gettyimages We see brands coming up with aftershaves, lotions, creams, perfumes and body washes of the same scent. Ever wondered why? When you layer up your scent with a product of the same scent, the effect is much more amplified and lasts way longer. Use the same scented products as your signature fragrance and you'll be sorted for at least 8 hours. 4. Spray On Your Pulse Points © Gettyimages If you want your perfume to last all day, you might want to consider specific places to spray it on. The pulse points of the body are the warmer parts of the body which are behind your neck, ear, elbow and knees. These spots generate body heat that helps endure the notes of your scent for a longer period of time. 5. Moisturizer Is Key © Gettyimages Applying moisturizer on your pulse points will make the scent easier to absorb and help carry it longer. Skipping this step can make your cologne disappear within minutes. These definitive ways will make sure you make a lasting impression. Spritz your cologne the right way and let it do the talking!
  12. We're all waiting for the release of 'Avengers: Endgame' and are also preparing for probably, permanently, losing a bunch of our favourite characters. But did you know there's another thing we need to prepare for? Our bladder-control, apparently. The runtime of the movie is 3 hours, which is not at all surprising considering that it's a culmination of 22 incredible movies and the final instalment of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So basically, the movie has to tackle a lot of things, take care of a lot of different characters and storylines, especially when we think about how they also have to somehow manage to bring back a lot of people (and then kill a lot of them again). But, don't worry, the movie is going to be so awesome that we will end up fighting a battle with our bladder, at least that's what the people who have already watched the movie experienced. Yes, some lucky bastards have already seen the movie while we have to wait till the end of April, but let's ignore that for now. While speaking to Collider about the test screenings, the Russo Brothers said, “I think the studio is down with what the best story is. Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we've had great responses from our test audiences and we're feeling very good about where it is. We're still doing work to it. We're not done with it. Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it's a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.” Well, that sounds exciting, doesn't it? While talking about the audience's reactions and the possibility of an interval, they said, “We have screened the movie four times for audiences now. For the first three screenings, not a single person got up to go to the bathroom.” So, I just have to say one thing - Excitement? Check. Bladder? Double check. Come at me, Marvel!
  13. While talking about trains, one thing that often pops up in our minds is Narendra Modi's long fetched promise of Bullet Trains. And guess what, he actually has kept it. Well, not exactly a Bullet Train but a desi version of it. Well, that is Train 18 aka Vande Bharat Express. With its Bullet Train-inspired design and super cool features, the driverless train will be flagged off by PM Modi on February 15 and will cover the route between New Delhi and Agra replacing the veteran Shatabdi Express. As per the results from the trial runs as of now, Train 18 can clock up a speed of over 180 kmph making it the fastest ever train of the Indian Railways. Being a desi product (Yes! Make In India, guys) and built at a cost of Rs 100 crore, this train is making Rs 88,000 crore India loaned from Japan seems like a total rip-off. According to a report by The Hindu, here are some of the cool features that the Vande Bharat Express comes packed with that really give it a futuristic feel. 1. Aerodynamically designed driver cabins at both ends for quicker turn-around at destinations 2. Alternate coaches are motorised to ensure even distribution of power and faster acceleration or deceleration 3. Regenerative braking system to save power © BCCL 4. Inter-connected, fully sealed gangways 5. Automatic doors with retractable footsteps 6. Onboard Wi-Fi and infotainment © Twitter 7. GPS-based passenger information system 8. Modular toilets with bio-vacuum systems 9. Rotational seats which can be aligned in the direction of travel (executive class) © Twitter 10. Roller blinds and diffused LED lighting 11. Disabled-friendly toilets 12. Emergency talk-back units to contact train crew 13. CCTVs in all coaches for safe and secure travel in numbers The report also mentioned that the approximate cost to build the train is around Rs 100 crore, and if the train runs at 200 kmph as per the report, then it sounds like a fairly decent deal. The makers of the train - Integral Coach Factory, Chennai is believed to have around five Train 18s in the pipeline and the time taken to conceive, design and develop the train is said to be around 18 months. All in all, Vande Bharat Express being a driverless train packed with other mind-blowing features is going to be an exceptional experience and we can't wait to get aboard.
  14. There are some good shows available which keep us hooked to our screens. Not everyone can understand the delight of finding a good series. It's an amazing feeling, almost as good as love. via GIPHY But then there are some shows which cross even this mark and set up a whole new standard. Those are the shows which we can watch repeatedly without getting bored. And by “we” I mean a wide age group of people. Those are the shows which are enjoyed by a 17-year-old as much as by a 34-year-old. via GIPHY Following are such shows which can entertain many generations for a long time: 1. F.R.I.E.N.D.S via GIPHY Duh! It has to be the first one.Our teenage was spent watching it, our early '20s were spent learning from it, and our late '20s and '30s will be spent thanking it for being there for us when we really didn't have anything good to watch! 2. Game Of Thrones via GIPHY It came, it conquered, and it will leave us soon. But I can bet generations will enjoy watching Tyrion's wisdom, Arya's surviving skills, and Khaleesi's fierce hotness. via GIPHY This is the show which became “you may like it, you may hate it, but you can't ignore it.” People who loved it loved hard! Rest of the people, which are very few, just couldn't develop the taste. 3. Breaking Bad via GIPHY It's always intriguing when a chemistry teacher becomes a drug lord. This show had thrill, drama, emotions, and everything else which makes a show great. It's hard to find people who haven't watched this gem! This is the show which won't fade away anytime soon. 4. Seinfeld via GIPHY Again, a gem of a series. The humour, the characters, the screenplay; just too good! This is one of the shows in which supporting characters were enjoyed more than the lead character. Many of us weren't even born when it aired, but man did it broke all the time barriers and made it to one of our favourites! 5. The Big Bang Theory via GIPHY Another good show coming to an end. It's not easy to keep the audience entertained for 12 straight years but this show did it! It's hard to find a dull moment in the show. via GIPHY TBBT showed that people actually grow and change with time, just a little patience is required from your partner's end. I mean, if Sheldon can let a girl touch him, your girlfriend too would agree to that secret fantasy of yours. Just be a little patient. As an honourable mention, I would like to mention 'Californication'. The romance, the story, the acting, ***, drugs, love, booze, the show has it all! via GIPHY These were the shows which will be staying with us for a long time. Watching and re-watching them would never grow old.
  15. Last year, I started a new job in the city and I was finding it difficult to find the right balance. Going for dinners, drinks and partying was taking its toll and I wasn't happy with the way I looked. The process had become boring and I was essentially just going through the motions. I am a goal and target-driven individual in all aspects of my life, however, when it came to training I had no goal or purpose. After seeing my brother's incredible transformation with RNT, I thought it was about time I stepped up to the plate and that's when I contacted Akash. From being a skinny teenager, I was always concerned about the way I looked. Like many others, I tried to do it all myself. It took me a few years to realise I needed some guidance when it came to nutrition and training. I had known Akash for a number of years, as he was my brother's best friend, so I was lucky to be directed towards him. Indeed, Akash has helped me a create a great physique which people often stare at when I'm on the beach, but more importantly, he provided me with valuable life skills, particularly around discipline. The first six weeks were challenging, both mentally and physically. I hadn't food prepped in a very long time but fortunately, I had my brother) helping me with it. The training and diet weren't a major issue, to begin with. However, the most difficult part was the volume of the steps I was doing. Due to the nature of my job, I'm not as active as I used to be. This meant doing over 15,000 steps, which was extremely demanding. I thought I wouldn't have enough hours in the day but I got it done. I even remember walking around my park at 11.45 pm just trying to get all my steps in! The last three weeks were tough. It was bad enough going to work every day whilst dieting, but when I was finally on a diet of 100g of carbs – it was even worse. What kept me going the most? The results...there were noticeable changes in my body every day and this became my source of motivation. I want to thank RNT Fitness as a whole for their consistent content and motivating podcasts (RNT Fitness Radio). And in Akash, I not only have a hardworking coach and role model, but a great friend and I hope this relationship grows. You can read my whole journey here

  17. Winter is about to set in, and as pleasant and romantic as it may seem from a distance (or the idea of it, shall we say), the reality is rather harsh, just like the cold winds it brings along. The cold weather can be extremely tricky, especially when it comes to skincare and haircare. But the most challenging thing, we think, is beard care, as it's neither here nor there. Your beard is prone to damage during extreme weather conditions, and it can get even trickier in India, thanks to the huge difference in summer and winter temperatures. But, it can be dealt with quite easily, if you follow a simple routine daily, consisting of 4 easy steps. 1. The first step is extremely easy, as it requires you to do nothing. By that, we mean to refrain from washing your beard frequently. Every time you wash your beard, it is stripped of the natural oils, and that can wreak havoc when it comes to your beard's health. Wash it every 2 or 3 days with a beard shampoo. © Zeusbeard 2. Using a beard oil is a must. The weather will dry your beard out, and there is no way the moisture will be back naturally, because of low humidity. So, you need to make sure your beard gets proper nourishment through a good beard oil. © Baldingbeards 3. Use a beard/moustache wax while stepping out. The wax, apart from styling your beard, will create a film on your beard that will protect it from the harshness of the elements outside. Plus, it's easier to sip liquids when there are no stray hairs going in them! © Baldingbeards 4. Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can have an extreme impact on your beard, and it can be visible in the form of a scraggly and lifeless beard. Plus, because of excessive coffee consumption during winter, our body becomes even more dehydrated. Keep drinking water not just for a thick, healthy beard, but also for your general well-being during the winter months. © 123rf Do them and see the difference!
  18. Not everyone is a fan of comedy-drama, there are some of us who live on shows which knock the wind out of us with their unimaginable storyline. If you are just like us, and totally believe in taking your mind for a spin when given the chance, then these 5 thrilling web series will prove to be the best way of spending the long weekend. 1. The gripping story unveils the many dangers they are set to face, and if or how they fight their demons. 2. Absentia - Prime Video The journey of an FBI agent who was on an official mission to hunt down a notorious serious killer, but goes missing instead. Altered Carbon - Netflix Set in the far away future, this story is sure to test your brain cells and spike up your endorphin levels. The first season begins with Takeshi Kovacs, a former U.N. soldier, resurfacing in a different sleeve of a private investigator, to solve the murder of the man who hires him. The fascinating plot promises solid rising action, while the actors look promising in their on-screen characters. However, it's the intricacies of the murder mystery that promises you a ride of a lifetime. 4. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan - Prime Video Another thriller that has the audience hooked is 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' which is based on the fictional characters from 'Ryanverse'. The series opens with Ryan, a CIA analyst, who gets caught in the tricky ways of fate and duty and is launched on a personal escapade to track down a dangerous Islamic terrorist. The cast is marvellous, the story is gripping, but it is the titular character and his amaze-balls ways that steal the show. 5. Shot in German, and in a gloomy setting which underlines its title, the story traces the lives of people living in the small town of Winden. 20. “I am what I am, so take me as I am” - The Chief Justice of India Dear mom and dad, Yesterday, the Supreme Court of India came out with a verdict that has, for once and for all, struck down the archaic law that made someone like me, a criminal. In a landmark ruling, it scrapped the outdated section 377 that criminalised homosexuality and made it a punishable offense. It's a big time for equality in India, one that ushers in what is certain to be a more progressive and just era championing freedom and equality. It's also a cause for celebration and self-expression, without any fears of legal persecution. I am sure yesterday was a special day for countless LGBT folks who have lived fearfully under the shadows of homophobia and discrimination, as well as those who have been subjected to harassment and bullying simply because of who they are. © Pexels My story is a bit different. I too have been bullied because of my sexuality, especially in a convent 'all-boys' school where being feminine pretty much gave others a license to bully you. But I've had one thing going for me that has been a pillar of strength and support, something which I understand all-too-well I've been privileged to receive - your unconditional love and support. I came out to you both at a relatively younger age - I was all of sixteen - and I still remember the sense of dread and anxiety that had engulfed me. After all, being your only son, I had this notion that I was somehow about to disappoint you or let you down. Till today, coming out to you is possibly the bravest thing I've ever done. © Unsplash But to my immense joy and relief, your reaction was anything but disappointing. You hugged me, embraced me and made sure I knew that there was nothing wrong with me, that I was perfect the way I was and that I had nothing to be ashamed of. I only wish every LGBTQ kid in the world gets to hear those same words when they come out of the closet, as I got to hear from you both. Mom, you have been, without question, my biggest cheerleader in the world. Just like the loving and accepting Kirron Kher in Dostana's second-half (but with the histrionics slightly toned down), you started talking about potential son-in-laws and how crazy my wedding would be. Even yesterday, when the news of Section 377 being scrapped broke, you were the first person to call me and were even more enthusiastic about the verdict than I was. Needless to say, I couldn't be more grateful for having you in my life. Dad, you too were incredibly supporting and accepting, though the ways you showed it were more subtle. Those nonchalant conversations about whoever I settle down with meeting your standards or about how adopting a kid or having one via surrogacy is no different than (or any less special) than the “normal” way, reflected your love and support in the best way possible. I may have lost you earlier this year, but your words will always stay with me. So dad, wherever you may be, I just wish that you were got to see all of the rainbows that engulfed our nation, the pride and acceptance that filled the air, and the energy of equality that can be sensed by one and all. © Reuters I understand that when it comes to acceptance of homosexuality, the embracing, loving and nurturing nature of my parents is a rarity - in fact a majority of the LGBT community hasn't been as lucky. Having you both loving and embracing me even before section 377 was scrapped was a privilege, and it's outright depressing to realise not all LGBT kids get to have that. © Pexels So in closing, I want to say something to the parents of all the LGBTQ people out there who might be reading this. Yesterday was a big day for your children, but the advancement of equal rights has only just begun. There are still lots of battles that need to be won (marriage equality and adoption rights come to mind), and your kids will NEED your unconditional love and support to get through those battles. With you firmly standing in their corner, nothing can bring them down. Trust me, I speak from experience. With love, A 'legal' Indian citizen
  21. Samsung has been talking about a foldable phone for the last few years, and it is eager to be the first one to launch such a phone. The company has been working on foldable phones for years now and we've already seen many patents and leaks, suggesting that the company is close to accomplishment. During an interview on CNBC, DJ Koh, the CEO of the company's mobile division, said that “it's time to deliver” a foldable device. The report further adds, Koh “hinted that more details of the device could be unveiled this year at the Samsung Developer Conference in November in San Francisco,” © YouTube Koh has been pretty vocal about the project since its start and had previously suggested that the technology requires a lot of work and that Samsung doesn't want to push out an unpolished product in the market. "We want to hear that Samsung Electronics made a quality product when we showcase a foldable phone on the market," Koh said in August. CNBC says Koh declined to say whether the foldable phone will be launched this year, but he did say Samsung has "nearly concluded" the "complicated" development process for the phone. © Samsung The South Korean giant is now locked in a battle with Huawei, who is also trying to be the first one to release a foldable phone. Samsung definitely seems to be having an edge because of its self-researched and developed OLED displays and past history of working on bendable displays. "We are focused on bringing innovations favoured by consumers, rather than just becoming the world's first. In terms of the foldable phone, however, we do not want to miss the first spot," Koh stated early this year. © LG's Foldable Display Panel We do not know how the phone may look or what it might be capable of, as we've only seen patent applications for now. The company has successfully managed to keep a tight lid on the development, unlike Google's Pixel 3. © Samsung Samsung released a concept advertisement for a potential foldable phone back in 2014. It featured a device with a bendable display that folded from a more tablet-like size into a small phone. It'll be interesting to see how the actual product works out.
  22. For some or the other reason, you've been single far too long and it's not rocket science to figure how tough it can get to make it back to the dating game. You could be single because the last relationship really messed you up and you want to take some time off, or you just want to be single to explore singlehood, but really long for a partner now. Whatever the reason maybe, going back to dating after a long haul is tough. © Pinterest It's actually like you've forgotten how to date and you're really lost in how to go about it. That's alright, and it really isn't a big deal. It's probably like filling a void, once again in your life and you need love but don't know how to go about it. So, if you're going back into the market after a while, keep these 5 pointers in mind. They'll help you navigate through your 'search'. Figure What Kind Of A Person You'd Like To Date Make a list of traits you'd like to find in your partner, in your head. It always helps filter the process. Obviously, your preferences must have changed from the last time you dated, so it's okay if they're not the same as before. But don't let this list determine your search. If you find someone who is very unlike what you'd thought about and you guys still click, then give yourself a chance with that person. © Pinterest Get On An Online Dating App That's the easiest way to meet women and we all know that. You probably already are on it, if you've been having multiple flings but now you'll be a little more particular about the options that show up on the dating app. Although it's fun to meet someone organically, dating app has made it fun and easy to meet likeminded people around you. © Twitter Work On Your Confidence You must have lost a lot of confidence in meeting women since you've been single for a while. Don't worry about it. There are a lot of ways to boost your confidence. Start working out. Either go to a gym or start running and get in shape. Start eating healthy and get into a proper routine. You confidence will definitely come screaming back. © Pexels Take Help From Your Friends Your friends can help you a lot in this area. They can help you with how to go about meeting women and they can accompany you to bars and parties for you to meet the right kind of crowd. Ask your friends to also be on a lookout for single likeminded women for you. Go out and meet new people with and through your friends. You'll definitely get lucky! © Pexels Take Things Slow & Keep An Open Mind You don't have to rush into anything at all unless of course you're looking to get married right away. Even so, take things slow for your own good. Nothing good comes out of hurrying upon something or rushing something as elaborate as finding the perfect mate for you. You can take your time going through the different matches and prospects and decide upon whoever you wish to date. Having said that, it's also pertinent that you keep an open mind and not close down on probable opportunities that come your way. Since you're coming back into the game after a long time, it'll be tough but you will definitely overcome an speed bump, if you keep an open mind. © Pinterest It's not easy getting back to dating after being single for a long time or always. But once you keep these pointers in mind, it shouldn't be tough to become a whiz in the dating world!
  23. Once upon a time, a young engineering student boarded a bus to attend his classes at Mumbai's famed Elphinstone College. Everything seemed normal and there was nothing out of the ordinary, but that very bus ride was going to change that young man's life forever. It was on this bus ride, that the young student ran into his senior Baloo Gupte - who would eventually become a prolific leg-spinner for India. Gupte asked the young man if he wanted to be the 12th man for their college team, where he would earn Rs 3 per game. The young student got excited and agreed. And, as fate will have it, India lost out on an engineer, but found a history-making captain - Ajit Wadekar. With a little over 2000 runs in 37 Tests and just 73 runs in two ODIs he played, the statistics of Ajit Wadekar might not appeal to the new-age fans of Indian cricket, who are used to watching the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma break records with blistering batting performances. But, for the seasoned campaigners who saw the makings of India as a world dominating cricket force it is today, Wadekar was no less than a God, whose death on 15th August marked a sad day in the sport. With a heavy heart we bid adieu to Ajit Wadekar. The former India captain is no more. Cricketer, Coach, Manager and Chairman of Selectors - Mr Wadekar served Indian cricket in many different ways. pic.twitter.com/6zdFtleXB9 — BCCI (@BCCI) August 15, 2018 An aggressive left-handed batsman, Wadekar picked the bones of opposition bowlers in first-class cricket where he amassed 15,380 runs including 36 hundreds and 84 fifties during his playing time from 1958 till 1975. It was his strong batting performances in domestic cricket that saw him earning the India call-up in 1966. © Getty Images While his ordinary scores of 8 and 4 in the two innings against West Indies didn't do justice to his abilities with the willow, Wadekar quickly made amends by scoring his maiden fifty in the very next game. In his next three games, Wadekar went on to score three fifties including a score of 91 in England's hostile conditions, where the current crop of Indian cricketers is still struggling. With 242 runs in three matches, Wadekar had become a vital cog in India's middle-order. If his exploits in England showed his ability to perform under pressure, Wadekar showed signs of greatness when he smashed a brilliant 99 in the second Test against Australia in 1967. A well-deserved fifty eluded him in the third and final Test Down Under, but Wadekar, by now, had established himself as a tower of strength for the Indian batting order. But, the best was yet to come. Ajit Wadekar's impact on Indian cricket is immense. His contemporaries worshipped him, such was his aura. Found him to be a tough character as coach. Exceptional Indian cricketer... RIP Sir.?? Recorded this on my iPhone last Dec from Point in a friendly fixture. So glad I did. pic.twitter.com/XbdFGn4Izp — Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) August 15, 2018 And, when it did, the world took notice of arguably one of the best No. 3 batsmen in the history of Indian cricket. After beginning the 1968 tour of New Zealand with consecutive fifties in the first Test, Wadekar slammed a match-winning 143 at Wellington which was pivotal in scripting India's 3-1 series win- their very first triumph away from home. At a time when India - under the tutelage of the great Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi - were establishing themselves as a genuine force in world cricket, Wadekar etched his name in the history books during what would soon become the golden year of Indian cricket. With Pataudi opting out of the tough tour of the fearsome West Indies side in 1971, Wadekar - with the help of Vijay Merchant's casting vote - was bestowed with the responsibility of leading the side. © Getty Images The batting genius of Dilip Sardesai and debutant Sunil Gavaskar ensured India would go on to shock Sir Garfield Sobers' brigade with a 1-0 win in the five-match Test series. And, that's not all. After taming the Caribbean giants in their own den, the Wadekar-led India toured England and disturbed the world order in cricket. After the first two games resulted in a draw, the three-match series was down to the wire in the third and final Test. Ray Illingworth's team tried to contain their opponents, but Bhagwath Chandrasekhar's leg-break (2-76 & 6-38) bamboozled the Englishmen who were eventually forced to endure a four-wicket loss and, in turn, a 1-0 series defeat. Deeply saddened by the passing away of #AjitWadekar He was more than a coach to the entire team - a father figure and a shrewd tactician. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be missed. Thank you Sir for the confidence shown in my ability! ?? — Anil Kumble (@anilkumble1074) August 16, 2018 While India were officially crowned World Cup winners under the leadership of Kapil Dev in 1983, Wadekar's side - owing to victories against West Indies and England away from home - was unofficially deemed as the world champion in 1971. Another series win against England (this time at home) in 1972/73 - where he amassed 312 runs - further boosted Wadekar's resume as a prolific leader. But, in 1974, when his end as a cricketer came, it was swift and cruel. A 3-0 series loss on the 1974 tour of England (which included India's 42-run dismissal - their lowest-ever Test total till date - at Lord's), saw Wadekar getting sacked as captain which further instigated his decision to call time on his career. © Getty Images It was definitely not the end many had thought for Wadekar, but it still didn't stop him from contributing to Indian cricket. Later in 1992, Wadekar became the first official head coach appointed by India. Under his four-year tenure, India enjoyed a dominant run on the spinning tracks at home, most notably blanking England 3-0 in 1992/93. Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Ajit Wadekar Sir. He was someone who was instrumental in bringing out the best in us during the 90s. We'll always be grateful for his advice and guidance. Praying for strength for his family during this difficult time. ?? RIP pic.twitter.com/coSyac73ot — Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) August 16, 2018 His next notable contribution came during India's tour of New Zealand in 1994. It was Wadekar who undoubtedly played a crucial role in turning Sachin Tendulkar's career around by making the 'Master Blaster' open the innings for India in the ODI series against the Kiwis. And, as it turned out, Tendulkar went on to corner all batting records and emerged as one of the game's greatest ever batsmen. A chance cricketer, prolific captain, admirable coach and, most importantly, a great human being; Wadekar donned many hats over the years in Indian cricket. And, while he might have left his ailing mortal body behind, Wadekar's immortal feats and achievements will live on forever and echo in eternity.

Ips News 4.x So long 2017!

As we make our final commits, merge in the last of our branches and wait for Charles to move more tasks to the development list, we pause to reflect on our year together as a company. Pour some egg nog, grab some snacks and lets take a look at our journey this year. Our year in numbers In 2017 we made 72 Invision Community releases, 6584 code commits, read 157,203 customer replies and made an average of 177 staff replies to tickets per day. Our year in dates We were certainly busy this year. We launched Invision Community 4.2, started work on Invision Community 4.3, started two new blog series and a newsletter. Lets take a look at the key dates. March 10th We started talking about our upcoming release, Invision Community 4.2 which saw us drop "Invision Power Services" in favour of the sleeker and less awkward "Invision Community". March 28 - 30th During our series of blogs on 4.2, we launch a triple whammy of blog entries outlining reactions, clubs and social media promotions. Three new tent-pole features that drove 4.2 to be our most successful release. July 19th We release Invision Community 4.2 to deafening applause (most of it was our own, but it still counts). We give the development team a 15 minute break and then drop the 4.3 task list internally. September 15th We start a new blog series "Team Talk". The idea is to show that we're not a bunch of code writing robots, but we're real people with personalities, hopes and dreams. So far, it's proved that we're mostly a bunch of code writing robots without personalities. The irony. October 18th Not content to just talk about silly things in Team Talk, we launched our new long form blog series "Community Management". Here we give our many years of community building insight to help you become successful in running your communities. We've tackled a number of subjects from SEO to security so far with many more planned for 2018. October 30th Our development team have been busy working on Invision Community 4.3 and we announce it to the world. And being the huge tease we are, we've said nothing since. Rest assured, we've got a lot done and its shaping up to be another great release. We'll be talking about it in more detail next year. It's all about you Of course, we couldn't finish without saying a massive THANK YOU to all our customers. We are so lucky to do something we love for a living and that is only possible because you choose to use us to build your community. We are committed to keep moving forward to ensure that we serve you in the best way possible. We'll keep innovating to give you the tools you need to succeed and we'll keep posting blogs packed full of tips and advice. Here's to 2018 and all the adventures it brings.
