  1. A film on the life of late Major Mohit Sharma is on the cards. Para Special Forces officer Major Mohit Sharma convinced the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists that he wanted to attack the Indian Army. He told them that his brother was killed by Indian security personnel in the year 2001 and fooled them that he was Iftikhar Bhatt. A Young Kashmiri lad Iftikaar Bhatt, with shoulder length hair and wearing the traditional Kashmiri Pheran, approached the dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen in Shopian, Kashmir sometime during 2003. pic.twitter.com/HK6sVEf4dn — Nation First, Always, Everytime 🇮🇳 (@ramnikmann) January 18, 2021 The reports suggest that the cast, title, and other details of the film are yet to be announced but the film is expected to go on floors in September and is set to release on Independence Day in 2022. It was also said that the film is tentatively titled ‘'Iftikhar'. The film is an adaptation of the first chapter of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book named India's Most Fearless 2: More Military Stories Of Unimaginable Courage And Sacrifice. The film is produced by Applause Entertainment and Drishyam Films. Applause Entertainment and @DrishyamFilms collaborate on 'IFTIKHAR.' A prestige movie project that will tell the valiant story of Ashoka Chakra awardee Major Mohit Sharma, who fearlessly infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen under the alias of Iftikhar Bhatt. pic.twitter.com/ixQUvrQhol — Applause Entertainment (@ApplauseSocial) January 22, 2021 Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment confirmed the news saying, “We were amazed by the bravado that Major Mohit Sharma displayed in Shopian, and immediately knew that this is a story that needs to be told to, and known by, every Indian." Manish Mundra, founder-producer of Drishyam Film said, "When we came across the chapter of Major Mohit Sharma, it intrigued us. I believe it's our duty as filmmakers to identify such heroes whose lives will not just inspire the current youth but also tell them about the sacrifices made by our special forces." Let’s pay homage to MAJOR MOHIT SHARMA 1 PARA who has immortalized himself on this day in 2009 fighting terrorists in Kashmir. It will be difficult for many of us to believe that his parents were denied passes for RD parade 2010 when he was being decorated by ASHOK CHAKRA. @adgpi pic.twitter.com/KzCgOZfiXg — Vikas Manhas (@manhasvikas41) March 21, 2019 Major Mohit Sharma was a Para Special Forces Officer, who was awarded the Ashok Chakra in 2009. He went undercover and fooled Hizbul Mujahideen under the alias of Iftikhar Bhatt. He was unfortunately martyred in action on March 21, 2009, while he was leading the Bravo Assault team in the Kupwara district. Now, a film is going to be made about his life story. 3. On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, the Indian cricket team did the unthinkable when they not only managed to defeat the mighty Australian side in a four-match Test series for a second consecutive time, but also did so at the Gabba, a stadium where the hosts hadn’t lost a single Test match in the past three decades. CHAMPIONS #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/hintWt3MEe — BCCI (@BCCI) January 19, 2021 The most commendable quality of this Indian roster was that it continued fighting against all odds, going toe to toe with the rivals, who were at full capacity, even after losing some of our top-tier players one after another. Names like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah kept getting struck off from Team India’s potential Playing XI list as the series progressed, either due to personal reasons or injuries. Look away, India fans #AUSvIND https://t.co/KIHgW6U2w2 pic.twitter.com/QN6IVSSW6K — Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) December 19, 2020 The Men in Blue endured the losses and strived to achieve an agreeable outcome. In the end, the outcome was that India went 2-1 against the Aussies Down Under and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy in a dominating fashion. Honestly, not a lot of fans or analysts could have expected such an epic conclusion to India’s struggling adventure in Australia and there were some legends of the game, who went all out on calling the series against the Men in Blue. Here are five comments made by cricket legends that backfired after India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21: 1. Michael Clarke View this post on Instagram “Can you imagine this Indian batting line-up without Virat Kohli for the next two Test matches? They are in deep trouble. At stages it was very hard to watch,” former Australian skipper Michael Clarke had said after Day 1 of the Adelaide Test. 2. Ricky Ponting View this post on Instagram "There could be a good chance (of a whitewash). Let's hope we do get a result in Melbourne and if we do, I think India are going to find it really hard to bounce back and win a game," Ponting had told cricket.com.au during the second Test at the MCG. 3. Mark Waugh View this post on Instagram"I thought Adelaide was the Test that they could win on paper and with Virat Kohli here for just the one Test. I thought the conditions would suit them. I just can't see how they can bounce back (after) Australia whitewashed them on the third day… four-nil to Australia,” Michael Waugh had declared ahead of the second Test. 4. Michael Vaughan View this post on Instagram“Told ya ... India are going to get hammered in the Test Series ... #AUSvIND #4-0,” former England cricketer Michael Vaughan had tweeted cockily on December 19, 2020 just two days into the series. 5. Brad Haddin View this post on Instagram “I thought their only opportunity to win a Test match was the first Test at Adelaide. I thought the conditions suited their bowling and I thought they’d get enough runs. But I don’t think they’ll be able to turn it around. You’ve got one Test up at Brisbane where no one beats Australia. These next two wickets will be suited to Indian cricket, but I don’t think they’ll be able to turn it around,” Haddin had said after India’s 36-run innings at the Adelaide Oval. View the full article
  4. We’ve all wanted a GTA-style game set in India and it seems like we will be finally getting our wishes true. ‘Mumbai Gullies’, an open-world game set in, well, Mumbai, is all set to launch for PC on Steam. Indian studio ‘GameEon Studios’ recently uploaded a trailer of the game that shows what we can expect from it. © GameEon Studios From the trailer, we can see the city of Mumbai brought to life with prominent locations such as Dalal Street, haphazard traffic and sweet foot vendors. The trailer showcases the graphics of the game which look quite impressive considering this is an independent game. The trailer launched with the description “a game inspired by the amazing contrast of life of Mumbai city. A city where the landscape changes every few meters. At one glance you could see towering skyscrapers and on the other glance you could see miles long slums.” At some point in the trailer, we see a red sedan, similar to what we see on the street of India, navigate itself from the chaotic traffic of Mumbai. Much like real life, the car comes very close to other vehicles and narrowly avoids collision; an experience many Indians have to go through in cities every day. © GameEon Studios Not much else is known about the game apart from the fact that it is an open-world first player experience. There is a good chance the game might explore the fictional criminal world of Mumbai similar to themes of Grand Theft Auto. Of course, we don’t expect the game to be on the same scale as GTA however it’s quite reassuring to see Indian game developers like ‘GameEon Studios’ develop games that could one day be at par with International AAA titles. If you want to see what the game is all about, you can check out the above trailer that showcases ‘Mumbai Gullies’ in full swing. A release for the game has not been unveiled as of now however the trailer did suggest it will be launching soon. In other news, FAU-G, a mobile game developed by Indian studio nCore games amassed over 4 million pre-registrations and is all set to launch on Republic Day. View the full article

  7. As the saying goes that 'everything is fair in love and war' , a Chhattisgarh man has just proved that right. Well, as 'dabangg' as anyone could ever get, this man married two women at the same time in the same “mandap” in presence of family members and villagers with all the rituals and formalities. The 24-year-old Chandu Maurya, as per the news reports, solemnised his marriage with the two women, both his lovers, at a ceremony attended by 500 people on January 5, HT reported. “I decided to marry both of them because they both loved me. I can’t betray them. They agreed they both will live with me forever,” Chandu told the newspaper. Meanwhile a video from the wedding ceremony and the invitation card of the function have gone viral on social media. Here’s the most unusual love story Maurya, a marginal farmer and laborer in Maoist-affected Bastar district, said he had fallen in love with Sundari Kashyap, 21, in Tokapal area when he had gone there to install electricity poles. The two planned to marry each other, but a year later, Haseena Baghel entered the life of Maurya. The 20-year-old was attending a wedding in his village Tikralohnga when the two met and fell in love. HT reported that Maurya told Haseena that he was already in a relationship but that did not stop her from wanting a relationship with him. “Both Haseena and Sundari came to know about each other and agreed to have a relationship with me,” he said. Well, it didn’t stop there. In fact, the three also started living together at Maurya’s house, where he lives with his parents and two siblings. The family members of Haseena came to attend the marriage ceremony but Sundari’s family skipped the function, said Chandu. Did you know this is not the first time that a man has married two women at the same time? A man in Madhya Pradesh has married two women at the same ceremony last year. In 2020, Sandeep Uike, a resident of Madhya Pradesh's Betul, had married two women at a ceremony on July 8. One of the women was Uike’s girlfriend and the other was a bride chosen by his parents. The wedding was held with the approval of all three families. Tell us your thoughts on this in the space below. View the full article
  8. Ravindra Jadeja certainly made an impact on Day 2 of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground with his bowling and fielding prowess. However, the guy seems to be making fans Down Under with his grooming as well. Freelance presenter, journalist and commentator Melinda Farrell went on Twitter to voice her astute observation about the ongoing Test match between the two cricketing giants in Sydney, more specifically, that about Jadeja. One more important thing about Jadeja that I've observed this series. He now has the best hair in men's international cricket. I feel very strongly about this. Don't @ me. Unless you agree, of course. #AUSvIND — Melinda Farrell (@melindafarrell) January 8, 2021 “One more important thing about Jadeja that I've observed this series. He now has the best hair in men's international cricket. I feel very strongly about this,” she tweeted. Her followers and some other fans of the game happened to agree with her: Not just hair, his beard too. His beard is best than his hair!! — Danny (@Ddnyana) January 8, 2021Every Indian to sir Jadeja pic.twitter.com/mQlOuriACZ — Shrikant (@MrShrikantK413) January 8, 2021haha I second you, in fact I was furious when someone tweeted he needs a haircut — AK (@rwamit) January 8, 2021One thing about Jadeja we all know. He would agree he has the best hair. — Chris Bingham (@binghach) January 8, 2021Belongs in a beach hut somewhere. Magnificent stuff — Oliver Jones (@oliverjones1988) January 8, 2021Ravindra Jadeja was clearly the best player in the Indian squad during Australia’s first batting innings. Having gone wicket-less on Day 1, the all-rounder scalped four of them on Friday followed by a staggering run-out to dismiss Steve Smith and wrap up their batting lineup for a total of 337. Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle described Jadeja as a ‘three dimensional player’ and could not have been more accurate. We have already seen his brilliance with the ball and on the field. Given his form with the bat in limited-overs cricket for the country during the Australia tour, he is expected to play a key role in India’s attempt to go 2-1 for the series. View the full article
  9. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally wrote to Cricket Australia seeking relaxation in the quarantine protocol ahead of the fourth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Brisbane Cricket Ground. Reminding the hosting cricket board that the Men in Blue have already been under a 14-day hard quarantine at the very beginning of the tour, BCCI executive on Thursday wrote to CA chairman Earl Eddings. #INDvAUS #BrisbaneTest 4th Test Impasse: @BCCI formally writes to @CricketAus on relaxation of Brisbane hard quarantine READ▶️https://t.co/8xcjbotCmx pic.twitter.com/nUUCzaPoE7 — TOI Sports (@toisports) January 7, 2021 The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two boards before the tour began had no provisions mentioning a second hard quarantine. “The discussions are still on but today BCCI has formally sent a letter seeking relaxation of hard quarantine for its players if they are to have the match in Brisbane,” a senior BCCI official told PTI. “The MoU that was signed never mentioned about two hard quarantines. India have done one hard quarantine in Sydney (practice and back to hotel room).” BCCI’s Demand Under Brisbane Quarantine #India to not travel to Brisbane if there's hard quarantine: BCCI to CA #News "It is too taxing for the boys, asking them to travel to Brisbane and be in the jail for another five days" The BCCI... - https://t.co/i211QnnWO3 — IndianPremierLeague (@CricketT20IPL) January 7, 2021 ”The BCCI’s demand is simple. The players want to mingle with each other inside the hotel bio-bubble like they did in the IPL. They want to have their meals together inside the hotel and also have the team meetings together. That’s not a big demand,” BCCI official informed. As per Cricket Australia’s communication, players staying on two separate floors of a hotel are not supposed to mingle until the quarantine gets lifted, a provision ridiculed by many. “The BCCI has told CA that the relaxation of the quarantine rules should be given in writing. During India’s hard quarantine in Sydney after reaching from UAE, there used to be police personnel in each floor ensuring that there is no breach of bio-safety protocols,” said the executive. “Hopefully, nothing of that sort will happen if the team travels to Brisbane. All we want is IPL style bio-bubble.” Worst Case Scenario What happens if Cricket Australia or the Queensland Government refused BCCI’s plea for relaxing the hard quarantine and put their foot down on the same set of rules that Team India had to follow in Sydney ahead of the tour? The worst case scenario therefore keeps both the sides in Sydney where the third Test is currently underway. However, it is believed that the two boards will try to come to an agreement and make the Gabba Test happen. In Conclusion The letter by the BCCI executive confirms that the Indian cricket team are not a bunch of rebels who were adamant on breaking the rules established by the Queensland government. They realise that the safety guidelines have been set in place for the better health of their citizens and they respect that. All they wish to do is be able to chat with their own teammates while staying inside the hotel and that does not seem to be that big a deal. Today I was asked about reports the Indian Cricket Team wants quarantine restrictions eased just for them, ahead of the upcoming Gabba Test. My response #Cricket #IndiavsAustralia @ICC @CricketAus pic.twitter.com/MV7W0rIntM — Ros Bates MP (@Ros_Bates_MP) January 3, 2021 However, the comment made by Ros Bates , Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly against the Indian squad does feel like a bit of an overreaction to the situation and as the BCCI expressed in the recent days, puts our players’ reputation in bad light. 12. Bollywood has always been under-qualified to give its audience believable and non-cringey kiss scenes. Most of the time such scenes in Bollywood are unreal and even though the actors make a lot of effort to make it seem romantic and original, most of us end up feeling awkward. So, here are 5 disgusting Bollywood kiss scenes that made our childhood awkward. Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai In Dhoom 2 © YRF Something about this kiss made me want to switch the television off and most of us had a lot of expectations from this on-screen couple but most of us were left disappointed. John Abraham & Kangana Ranaut In Shootout At Wadala This wasn’t a romantic kiss but still could’ve been directed in a more realistic way that didn’t make people like us ruin our days just because of a bad kiss. Emraan Hashmi & Jacqueline Fernandez In Murder 2 In this film, many scenes made sure that we watched the film alone and also we couldn’t watch it with our family. However, the kissing scene of Emraan and Jacqueline was next level awkward and made us cringe as it looked like he was moisturizing Jacqueline’s lips. Ranveer Singh & Anushka Sharma In Band Baja Baaraat © YRF This kiss looked disgusting as Ranveer Singh couldn’t leave Anushka Sharma’s lower lip and instead of making us feel romantic, the kiss made us want to throw up. SRK & Katrina Kaif In Jab Tak Hai Jaan The audience expected this kiss would be extremely fun to watch but when we saw it on screen, it wasn’t what we expected at all. This one made us extremely awkward and SRK looked like a wax statue while kissing. View the full article

  15. We've been living under the false pretense that everything bad happening this year would stay in this year only and everyone can't wait for 2020 to end. While it looks like the pandemic will continue in 2021, we can still say good bye and good riddance to this godawful year and hope for the best in the new year. Yes, no one wants to recap the (probably) most historic year of our lives, but we can still look at the silver lining and think of the things that got us through the year - memes. It's time for 2020's meme recap, so let's look back at some of the memes that helped us stay sane. 1. Rasode mei kaun tha The remix that started all of the remixes. This mashup of Saath Nibhana Sathiya scene made by the brilliant Yashraj Mukhate was so widespread, even the actors from the show appreciated the sudden popularity he gave this old scene. 1 crore rupees for KBC - Kokila Ben Cooker related question. pic.twitter.com/7QEWFnuQeU — Pranav Sapra (@pranavsapra) August 23, 2020Double standards by #KokilaModi justice for #rashiben #RasodeMeinKaunTha #gopibahu pic.twitter.com/mEVJyqhlbI — Poonam Naik (@P00Naik) August 24, 20202. 18. Everybody loves ‘maa ke hath ka khana’ and there are some family recipes that are passed on for generations. Like there is always one dish that your grandmother makes and is passed onto your mother and is their specialty. While some people can retain the recipes, some are lost over time and all you can do is miss those days. Recently, a man got a big surprise when he was served food cooked by his mother 10 years ago before she died. His wife ended up preserving the last of her husband’s favorite 'gochujang' and surprised him at dinner one night. Eric Kim, who is a food writer, took to Twitter saying, "This is a batch of gochujang my grandmother made before she passed away 10 yrs ago. My mom calls it a time capsule. She's kept it in the basement freezer all these years and wanted to surprise my dad with it one day. So one day, a few weeks ago, my mom brought it out for dinner." Grandma's gochujang is less sweet than store-bought & tastes good rubbed into barley rice. Or as a dipping sauce for roast chicken. I just can't believe it's 10 yrs old.” He also expressed how his dad didn’t cry but everyone at the dinner table kept talking about his grandmom. 19. Day 2 of the first Test at Adelaide ended for the Indian batting line up sooner than a blink of an eye. Having made 233 on Day 1, the partnership of Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha quickly broke when the former edged a catch into skipper Tim Paine’s hands on a Pat Cummins delivery. Within the next 11 runs, the rest of the batting order was quickly wrapped up. Nonetheless, if there was a silver lining during the disappointing stint, it was pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s picture-perfect cover drive. The 27-year-old managed to play a great stroke against a quick one by Mitchell Starc as he moved forward, bending on the back knee and smashed the ball for the ropes. © Twitter/BCCI His shot was so impressive that fans started demanding a promotion in the Indian batting lineup for him: Bumrah .. extra cover drive 🤯 Next innings Ashwin ke jagah bhejo Bum ko #INDvAUS — ᴠɪɴᴀʏ (@dramaticdude_) December 18, 2020The perfect cover drive doesn't ex.... #Bumrah #AUSvsIND — Arvind Kumar (@MAKsHere) December 18, 2020Bumrah cover drive #INDvAUS — ‍♀️··‍♂️ (@likith_09) December 18, 2020Cover drive for Boundary Bumrah Schooling Saha how to play starc.. However, soon after, Mohammed Shami misread Cummins’ short ball and ended up giving what can be the easiest catch of the series into Travis Head’s hands. View the full article

  21. As India hopes to continue their form from the T20I series victory into the much anticipated Test series from December 17, 2020, skipper Virat Kohli had a sit-in with Australian powerhouse Steve Smith to share their players’ mentality towards the game and how they fell in love with it. Among other topics, Kohli once again opened up about one of the gravest losses anybody could go through in their lives -- the loss of his father and how the incident made him into the man he is now. Who is your favorite player of the two?#AUSvIND Virat Kohli S. Smith Retweet Like pic.twitter.com/KR4UBqX0HJ — 𝑨𝒌𝒌𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑲𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒍 𝑲𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒓 (@iamkapilkumar_) December 17, 2020 When Smith asked the Indian batsman about his moment of realisation that he was build to play cricket for India, Kohli said: "I always knew that I wanted to play the game at the highest level and the time that I definitely thought that I am going to make this a career is when my father passed away. And that's the time I realised that I have got to get serious about this and actually make it a proper commitment." "My focus cannot shift and I just became single-minded from then on and kept my focus on playing for India and play for a long time. I didn't even think that I am going to get dropped from the team or anything like that. It was pure motivation and the will to move forward," he added. Despite a couple of mishaps in the beginning of his career and his image of that a binge-drinking party-brat (as confessed by team selectors in Rajdeep Sardesai’s book Democracy XI) the Delhi-born was quick to rise from the ashes and become the best batsman of the current generation of superstars. © Reuters His commitment to the game not only showed results on the field but also off of it where Kohli shed some serious kilos, got in the best shape of his life and probably added years of playing in his prime fitness while doing so. He gave up things like sugar-based drinks and alcohol and even refused to partner with mega-brands like Pepsi simply because he didn’t consume their products and wanted to become a youth icon - someone the younger generation would look up to.
