  1. While revamping utility and public structures has been the need of the hour, the New Delhi Railway Station can't be left untouched for long. Just a month ago, Mathura Railway Station got an absolutely new look and now it's time for Delhi to literally shine. The station was given an artsy feel, rich in culture and heritage and now every time we're catching a train from there, we'd be afraid to miss it, because it's done up quite elaborately and beautifully. The station building looks quite vibrant with some colourful patterns strewn across, with wall art and geometrical designs all over the ceilings. It really looks like we're amidst a colourful little cultural village. The station has also upgraded its public facilities like LED lights, escalators and LCD displays, all over. © Twitter The station will be equipped with solar panels for deriving energy from them and it'll be kept clean throughout. Well, Delhi isn't the only station that has been revamped. Apart from Mathura, there is also Haridwar, Jaipur and Lonavla. They've all been beatified and upgraded just as Delhi and Mathura. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted about the development of the station: बदलता भारत, बदलतॠरà¥à¤²à¤µà¥à¤ सà¥à¤µà¤¿à¤§à¤¾à¤¯à¥à¤, सà¥à¤µà¤à¥à¤à¤¤à¤¾ à¤à¤° सà¥à¤à¤¦à¤°à¥à¤¯ सॠभरा नठदिलà¥à¤²à¥ रà¥à¤²à¤µà¥ सà¥à¤à¥à¤¶à¤¨ à¤à¤¾ नया à¤à¤à¤°à¥à¤·à¤ रà¥à¤ª यातà¥à¤°à¤¿à¤¯à¥à¤ à¤à¥ à¤à¤ विशà¥à¤µà¤¸à¥à¤¤à¤°à¥à¤¯ रà¥à¤²à¤µà¥ सà¥à¤à¥à¤¶à¤¨ à¤à¤¾ à¤à¤¹à¤¸à¤¾à¤¸ à¤à¤°à¤¾ रहा हà¥à¥¤ pic.twitter.com/rUiirbwjDj — Piyush Goyal (@PiyushGoyal) 14 March 2019 The new look of the Railway station went down pretty well with most people and they took to Twitter to praise the efforts made by the Ministry of Railways and the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation. Or you can just check out these pictures here: © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter The Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC), which is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for revamping and developing such structures, will invest about Rs 7,500 crore, for redeveloping close to 50 railway stations across India. Simultaneously with that, they will also have a beatification drive alongside, which will entail paintings and art along the premises of the station. We're glad the Indian Railways are making an effort to revamp old stations and after airports, this was pretty much the need of the hour.
  2. For time immemorial, popcorn has been mostly (and strictly) associated with visits to the cinema halls around town. Eventually, it somehow morphed into an unspoken agreement between the parties heading out to the theatres, that intervals call for a bucket or two of salted popcorns and one of the many fizzy drinks to go with it, at the least. Times changed, PVRs came into existence and the menus at the movie theatres also went on to become more extensive. But the good ol' popcorn remained a hot favourite with the movie-goers, with its sprinkling of salt and nostalgia to keep us company through the many hours we spent laughing and crying at the silver screen. (c) MensXP So when the time came for Chirag Gupta to give wings to his entrepreneurial dreams, he decided to reintroduce how Indians enjoyed their most trusted movie companion - popcorn. Chirag, along with his friend and co-founder Ankur Gupta came up with the plan to bring gourmet popcorns to Indians, and that's how premium popcorn brand 4700 BC came into being in 2013. Ever since, the duo has changed how Indians have interacted with popcorn. The gourmet makeover that 4700 BC gave the humble popcorn became an instant hit, and there was no looking back after that. The Backstory Back in 2012 when Chirag had been already working with Deloitte Consulting in the US for five years, he decided that it was time to go back home and start something of his own, because working for someone else was not an option he was ready to consider. Chirag shares that, “at that point, my thought was that now I have enough money, so let's go back to India and try something of our own.” (c) MensXP Once he got back to the country, Chirag got in touch with his childhood friend Ankur and shared his plans with him. Fortunately for both of them, they were equally thrilled by the prospect of building something of their own and taking it to new heights. The Initiation Once the discussions reached fruition, they decided to explore the growing food industry in India. Soon plans were laid out for gourmet popcorn (and a few other ideas), and “the next thing we knew, we hired a chef who started developing out recipes. (c) MensXP Soon the duo learnt about the intricacies of the business, which was already popular in the US, and realised that they would have to import everything from machinery to raw materials from the US. Once the setup bit was sorted, things began to fall in place for their company. But Chirag tells us that the major high came from “getting a store in DLF Saket, which was a premium location in Delhi. We got the first store running there and the response was superb.” The Next Step The first year went well for the company, but soon they realised that they need to get better at their own game to retain their consumers. That's the only challenge they faced since no one else in India was doing something similar, so no one was really aware of the nuances of this line of business. (c) MensXP Talking about challenges Chirag says that, “it is important in every entrepreneur's life because until you see the pain and challenges, you don't think about taking the business to its next level.” 4700 BC Today Today, 4700 BC popcorns are available in 18 different flavours as opposed to the three basics flavours they offered in the beginning. What's more, 4700 BC is available across all PVR cinemas and the company sells approximately 12 lakh units every month! The company's turnover was at Rs. 10 crores in 2017-18 and it only continues to get better and bigger with every passing day. Learn more about 4700 BC from its co-founder as he shares industry insights and advice for aspiring entrepreneurs to make it big in their venture.
  3. If you're looking to start afresh with a new job, or life after a breakup, the first step should be an exciting makeover. A makeover not only changes the way you look but gives you a much-needed boost in your self-esteem so that you can exude confidence wherever you go. We're talking experimenting with your wardrobe: adding diverse colours to it. Adding accessories to your outfit to add extra detail and changing your haircut. Or getting a new perfume. Now, we understand that getting a change in haircut can be super stressful. From deciding what goes with your face shape and hair texture to save yourself from a major disaster. But don't you worry, here is a definite guide to interesting hairstyles that you should definitely try. The best part about these hairstyles is that they've been curated and mastered by Michel Baltzar, Lead Hairstylist and the Creative Director of Training & Education at Jean-Claude Biguine, India. 1. The GI JOE Look (a.k.a The Fading Buzz Cut) © Twitter An extremely popular style in the Latino culture, the fading buzz cut is characterized by tapered sides with a short crop of hair on top. “The best thing about this army inspired buzz cut is that it goes well with all kinds of face structures and especially works great with a well-groomed beard,” says Michel. The contouring if done right, can give you a strong, sharp and slick look. “It's also hassle-free and requires literally no styling or setting on a daily basis,” adds Michel, this look is fairly low maintenance if you don't count the fortnightly salon trips needed to retouch/trim the hair growth. (which is a great bargain for a sharp look like that) 2 The Crop Top © YouTube This style has been around for a long time in Europe, especially in England and is making a strong comeback this year around the world. Think Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders, that's exactly what we're talking about. “The crop top is a refined look and is understated yet fashionable. It involves a gradual fade on the side with focused short hair on the top-front,” says Michel. Being highly versatile, you can achieve both clean and messy looks with this cut. “Wax is ideally needed to set the hair in place as per your face structure,” adds Michel. 3 The Slick-Back Look © artofmanliness The classic look requires mid-length hair to give it a tamed appearance. It's a quick way to make your hair look stylish and offers many variations. “Using wax or gel is necessary to create this look, you can either direct it to the back or flip it to one side to give it a structured look,” says Michel. “This hairstyle blends well with an au naturel beard, a moustache or even a fresh clean-shaven look,” adds Michel. 4. The Mad Men Look © madmenfc A hairstyle inspired from the 'Mad Men', this elegant, clean look is a great choice for working professionals. This style is suitable for straight, fine hair but needs a little help of styling products. “You can cop this look by directing your top front hair to the side while following the outline of your head without creating much volume,” says Michel. 5 The BCBG: Bon Chic Bon Genre look © artofmanliness Inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio's legendary haircut in Titanic, this classic style of the 90s is back in force this year. “We love this messy-tousled style for its casual yet playful.
  4. Musicians often struggle hard to move beyond a specific image - one that has to have loose T-shirts and bushy hair - an aesthetic that's strictly about 'the substance' inside, and a little bit about superficial 'coolness', which honestly doesn't fit the bill when it comes to being 'cool'. Our homie Nikhil Maira was going through the exact same struggle, and he just couldn't move beyond his baggy T-shirt and a rough Afro. However, that was before he decided to get in touch with the 'Groom Barabar Groom' team. © MensXP Host Siddharth Batra along with celebrity stylist Anisha Jain and designer Kunal Rawal appreciate challenging ventures, and they gleefully took on the challenge of giving Nikhil a makeover that consists of stylish, layered outfits, and no T-shirts - one that his mother will be proud of. © MensXP They urged Nikhil to embrace layers and colours that he never experimented with before, and picked out some super cool outfits for him. © MensXP Once the sartorial struggle was over, it was time for Nikhil to address the elephant in the room - his Afro. Celebrity hairstylist Rod Anker got to it immediately and gave him a sleek haircut that did wonders for his new wardrobe, without taking away from his 'musician vibe'. © MensXP The person who emerged through the other side was confident, happy, and fashionable beyond measure. The new layers and colours worked wonders for Nikhil, something he never experienced before. © MensXP © MensXP © MensXP © MensXP Take a look at the video here. We've seen multiple grooming and makeover shows for women over the years, but none for men. MenXP wishes to change that. Now more than ever, men are more up-to-date with all the latest trends when it comes to grooming products or the latest fashion. On the other end of the spectrum, a majority of them don't know where to even begin. With Groom Baraabar Groom, MensXP wants to create India's first male-focused makeover show that along with being a masterclass in everything fashion and grooming, will provide a safe space for underconfident guys to overcome their self-perceived shortcomings. Some of these guys might not even know the reason for years of self-doubt in them that we might have a very simple solution for. From a much-needed haircut to hygiene routines like pedicures, styling based on the body type (short, tall, skinny, overweight), fashion and grooming advice and a little note on improving self-confidence to finally the big reveal -- our show is more about breaking self-inflicted notions of physical shortcomings rather than a superficial makeover. MensXP wants to change the grooming game in India with this show.
