  1. This yearâs Oscars saw history being made with Korean film Parasiteâs incredible sweep of four major awards. © Reuters While the world has since celebrated whatâs been described as a huge shift for the Academy Awards, not everyoneâs that happy about celebrating Korean culture winning big this month. Hint: Itâs Donald Trump. © Reuters As the US Presidential Elections ramp up through what has already become one of the most dramatic campaign seasons in the nationâs history, President Trump visited Colorado Springs, Colorado to address a rally of his supporters. âHow bad were the Academy Awards this year?â Trump asked the crowd, who responded with loud boos. Trump goes off on the Oscars for giving Best Picture to Parasite because it's a South Korean movie pic.twitter.com/GUGKdExTbw â Claudia Koerner (@ClaudiaKoerner) February 21, 2020 âThe winner is a movie from South Korea, what the hell was that all about?â Trump asked. âWe got enough problems with South Korea with trade and on top of it, they give them the best movie of the year.â Regarding the film itself, Trump went on to make a surprising throwback - all the way to 1939. âWas it good? I donât know. Iâm looking for, like â can we get like Gone With The Wind back, please?â Trump said, to loud cheers. For context, Gone With The Wind is a historical epic romance film adapted from a 1936 novel of the same name - set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. While legendary actors Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable made history with the film no doubt. The film also has a troubling history regarding its depiction of black people. Set in the deeply racist American South, the film has been criticised for glorifying slavery, portraying black characters as foolish, dim-witted and subservient - while Hattie McDonald became the first black person to win an Oscar after the filmâs release, the character she portrayed was that of a maid, and several black activists criticised her role as pandering towards white racist stereotypes. © Metro Goldwyn Mayer Given Trumpâs long and storied history with racist comments and remarks, itâs not surprising that heâs fond of the movie. Meanwhile, Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho has been on a roll - this is possibly the best month of his life as a filmmaker, and he took a moment to speak about the acceptance of world cinema while at the Golden Globes earlier this January, after winning the âBest Foreign-Filmâ. © Reuters âOnce you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films. I think we use only one language: the cinema,â he stated. Parasiteâs studio NEON took their own potshot at the President, soon after the rally made its rounds on social media. Understandable, he can't read.#Parasite #BestPicture #Bong2020 https://t.co/lNqGJkUrDP â NEON (@neonrated) February 21, 2020 Several users on Twitter also followed up with their own quips. Wait until he finds out how many Mexican directors have received the Best Director Oscar. â Anita (@AnitaM86) February 21, 2020He's only a fan of Gone With The Wind because it has the same name as his haircut. â Alan Docherty (@Oingo_Boingo) February 21, 2020Weâre left wondering - if the film was from North Korea, would Trump be talking about how watching the film was a 'great honour?â View the full article
  2. Deepika Padukone's surprising presence at the protest by the JNU students caused a national uproar within minutes. And why not? A mainstream Bollywood superstar suddenly appearing at a protest over a very controversial issue was fodder enough for intense debates. As expected, she was showered with praise and admiration for taking such a 'bold' step, but at the same time, she was also attacked for 'promoting' her latest movie, Chhapaak. But another issue cropped up out of nowhere, where a lot of Twitter users started accusing the makers of 'changing the religion' of the attacker in the movie. By now, everyone is familiar with the story of Laxmi Aggarwal, an acid attack survivor. Her attacker's name was Nadeem Khan, however, the makers of Chhapaak were accused of changing his name to a Hindu one, Rajesh, basically bringing the religion of the culprit into the spotlight. Well, turns out, these allegations are completely false and baseless. We got to review the movie yesterday and the name of the attacker in the movie was originally supposed to be Nadeem and was later changed to Basheer Khan. Technically, people didn't even bother to check the facts before trending several hashtags like #NaeemKhan and #Rajesh to #NameItLikeBollywood on Twitter. Here are a few tweets on the same: Laxmi Agarwal faced a jihadi Acid attack in 2005 in New Delhi as she had refused to marry #NadeemKhan. Deepika Padukone's making money with movie #Chapaak on Laxmi hardly talks about Nadeem Khan. Instead they changed name to Rajesh.#boycottchhapaak#IndianSecularism — Suman Kaul Sharmað®ð³ HINDU #Official (@SumanSh58123278) January 8, 2020 His name was #NadeemKhan who threw acid on #LaxmiAgarwal 's face, but you changed the name only to dishonour #Hinduism, this is your secularism.@deepikapaukone #Boycott_Chhapaak pic.twitter.com/Ljzq5ZFx4J — Lokendra Nath (@NathLokendra56) January 9, 2020 Name of the guy who attacked Laxmi Aggarwal with acid was #nadeemkhan. But makers changed his name to "Rajesh" to suit their agenda This is how Machinery of anti Hindu Bollywood gang functions. Boycott these secular traitors of our Country #boycottchhapaak #DeepikaPadukone pic.twitter.com/KHu2947Dsp — Pratik Shinde patilð¦ (@pratik_shinde18) January 8, 2020 Bollywood is an jihadi fort that is why their jihadi worm willfully converted jihadi acid attacker name from #NadeemKhan to a Brahmin Rajesh Sharma. Now every secular in India is promoting genocide of Brahmins. Unfortunately we Brahmins have no law to protect us.#boycottchhapaak — Suman Kaul Sharmað®ð³ HINDU #Official (@SumanSh58123278) January 8, 2020 Coming to the movie, Rajesh is actually one more character in the movie who plays Malti's love interest when she was a teen. For more information on the same, you should first watch the movie. Chhapaak will finally hit the screens tomorrow and will clash with Ajay Devgn's much-talked-about period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Planning to catch a screening? 3. Deepika Padukone's upcoming film Chhapaak has hit the headlines once again but this time it's falling into trouble. According to reports, Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer, Aparna Bhat, has decided to sue the makers for not mentioning her name in the film. Chhapaak is based on Laxmi's life and struggles in which Deepika plays the titular role of an acid attack survivor. The film also features Vikrant Massey alongside Deepika. Recently, Bhat took to her social media account to express her disappointment. She mentioned that the makers of the film didn't given her due credit for her work as she played a pivotal role in getting justice to Laxmi and that she is "deeply disturbed post watching the film." Bhat, on her Facebook post, wrote, “Have never been the one to demand attention to my work. Deeply disturbed by the turn of events post watching Chhapaak. Compelled to take legal action to protect my identity and preserve my integrity. I represented Laxmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts... tomorrow someone will represent me in my cause... Ironies of life." Later, the advocate wrote another post thanking people who were coming out in her support. “I thank all my friends who endorsed my contribution and challenged team Chhapaak in failing to say 'Thank you!'. I cannot match the powers of these mighty producers of Bollywood but keeping quiet will further endorse injustice. I have decided to take my cause to the next level. Ready to face the consequences," she wrote. The controversies around the much-awaited film is only seeming to increase with each day. Earlier on Tuesday night, there was a huge controversy around Deepika's visit to JNU to show solidarity with the students who were attacked by masked mob on Sunday night. Some even called her visit a publicity stunt. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, marks Deepika's first production venture and is scheduled to release on January 10. View the full article
  4. Bigg Boss 13 has been full of drama and fights in the house. Since the day the show decided to have a five-week extension, there have been constant fights in the house which have also made the fans upset. In the last night's episode, Rashami Desai and Sidharth Shukla got into an ugly fight that disrupted the entire house. During the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Rashami threw warm tea on Sidharth, and called him a "goon". The two celebrities were also seen making personal comments on each other. This provoked Sidharth, and he said, "I don't let girls like you enter my house." 6. If you haven't yet watched the trailers of Sunny Singh starrer Ujda Chaman and Ayushmann Khurrana's Bala, it's about time that you do. The clash between the two films, which are set to release around the same time next month, has now reached the courts. According to HT, Ujda Chaman's Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has filed a court case against the makers of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala. The first hearing of the court case is said to be held on Thursday. The director of Ujda Chaman, Abhishek Pathak had earlier objected to Bala's trailer and the new release date, which was shifted to just a day before the release date of the Sunny Singh starrer. Ujda Chaman is a remake of the 2017 Kannada film Ondu Motteya Kathe, which revolves around the life of a young bald man. Ayushmann's Bala is also a film about a young man suffering from premature baldness and now, the audience has also caught similarities in the trailers of both movies. Pathak, while talking about the issue with Desi Martini said, “There are some similarities that can be seen between Bala and Ujda Chaman. I don't know what's happening. I came with my trailer on October 1 and they came out with it around 10-11 October. So, this question should be asked to them, how is it similar? If they had seen my trailer, they should have done something... at least, change something.” He also added that not only the idea but even the dialogues and screenplay of both the films are similar. “I know the original film so well and mine is an official remake. People don't know yet, because they are just seeing the trailer, but I know. I can see the glimpses of the original film in that trailer (Bala). So, I was like fine, let the legal team handle it,” the director added. He also said, “We had sent them a notice when we bought the rights, early 2019 because even their announcement had come around the same time. I gave them all the documents because their film sounded similar. They said except for the character being bald, nothing is similar and I bought their words. But now that doesn't seem to be the case. Dialogues, situation, everything seems similar and even people have caught it.” However, amid all the chaos, the lead actors of both movies, Sunny Singh and Ayushmann Khurrana, are absolutely unaffected by all the legal proceedings and apparent rivalry. Singh, in an interview, said that he is, in fact, a big fan of Ayushmann and his work and that despite the tension, it really does not matter much to him because both of them are actors doing their jobs. Ujda Chaman is set to release on 8th November whereas Bala will release on 7th November.
  7. If you missed the last episode of 'Game of Thrones', then are you really a fan, bro? The last episode 'The Long Night' was nerve-wrecking, to say the least. There were dragons, Wights and their Walkers, the Night King, the unsullied, the Dorthraki and of course, a confusing yet unexpected ending! Yes, Arya did immerge as the true hero towards the end, the 'Last Hero' if you may. But let's face it, seven days is just too long to sit and wait for what's going to happen next in GoT and we do believe the last episode wasn't the end of the White Walkers. Why, you ask? (c)HBO Well, the show creators have hinted that we may see the White Walkers again! I know, right? When asked they directly didn't reveal anything but they also didn't deny the possibility of them coming back. Take a look: When Jimmy asked Benioff and Weiss if the White Walkers were gone, the two couldn't give a straight answer. They either said 'yes', 'no' or even 'possibly', which you can see is the most popular answer from the questions asked to them. So what does this really mean? Will the 'actual' villains return? Will there be a plot twist towards the end? Will the Night King resurrect? Well, we don't know and I am sure they couldn't answer straight up either, unless they want to lose their job for revealing what happens. But since they said "we're not gonna answer that" when they were asked if the zombies are coming back, we've got an inkling that maybe they do? (c)HBO Well, we want the next episode to come rather quickly so we can actually see what happens! But this will be an interesting twist, if it does come true. What do you think?
  8. Winter is finally coming knocking on every 'GOT' fan's door ever since the first trailer dropped and left us gasping for more. From the conniving smile of Cersei, a running Arya Stark thirsty for some revenge to Khaleesi and Jon Snow's fate, the tiny teaser dropped a hint of everything yet revealed nothing! The 'GOT' makers have now released an in-depth prosthetics video which gives you a peek into how the outer mould for many characters are built, including the mighty Night King. A video was released earlier which showed a little as to how the actor gets ready for the role, but this one here, is for the nerds. The war scenes, the images of the deceased or the injured, literally everything takes months of planning for the team who ensures that the authenticity of the characters and the show is strictly maintained. The average prosthetic makeup takes 6-8 weeks to build and over hours to put on the actors later. © HBO The mightily feared Night King is portrayed by actor Vladimir Furdik who bears the entire pain of putting on all that makeup and acting with it. Well, we can not only respect the actor more after watching this video but also give him a round of applause for his unbelievable patience.

  10. 'No Shave November' just came to an end last Friday, and those of you who participated this year might now be looking like a totally different version of yourselves. The newly earned, full face of stubble, or wackily (over)grown beards, have been a matter of immense pride, but now with the curtains drawn on 'No Shave November', we can already guess about the inner struggle you might be going through. For the first-timers, it's all about the next step now, while for others, the plans have already been laid out. Whether you plan to keep that look on or ditch it for a cleaner look, grooming yourself is still key given that we've officially hit the month of December. © MensXP Now, some of you might be unaware of how to look after your mane and beard the right way, and that's understandable given that the very makers behind one of India's most popular men's grooming brand 'Ustraa', went through the same struggle as you, not so long ago! It was at the crucial age of 35 when the grit and resolve of friends Rajat Tuli and Rahul Anand were tested. Rahul and Rajat had been working with an IT firm in Hyderabad which was hitting major losses before finally tasting the dust. This entire process found the duo relocating first from Hyderabad to Mumbai and then finally to Delhi, before they suddenly found themselves altogether broke and unemployed. With no intention of going back to work for someone else and no savings to fund their personal business venture, Rajat and Rahul sold their office laptop to an ex's father for Rs. 50,000 and launched their first startup with it, which is today popularly known as 'Happily Unmarried'. © MensXP 'Happily Unmarried' was born out of the founders' personal experiences of struggles when trying to set up a house (and life) as single men. The brand went on to cater to the lifestyle-related needs of young, unmarried men. They did have their own share of challenges though, as from being newbies with no business background to drawing no salaries in the first year, were just a few struggles they faced. Yet, in the face of numerous setbacks, Rahul and Rajat stood tall against all odds. Their perseverance and faith in their products paid off, because today, as we all know, 'Happily Unmarried' has become a hugely popular brand. So obviously, when the time came to expand, the duo decided to give their luck another try and enter a totally new and (quite) unexplored area in the Indian market. Talking about this next big step, Rajat Tuli, in an exclusive interview to MensXP, said, “Till five years ago, what you were getting in terms of men's grooming, was what you were getting 25 years ago. So while the men had evolved, the products that were made for them hadn't.” © MensXP This became their threshold and after much deliberation, which was then followed by thorough market research, Rajat and Rahul decided to enter the men's grooming sector. And once they did, boy, did they turn up the heat or what! Their new men's grooming brand's name was called 'Ustraa', and as simple and on-point as the name is, so are their range of products! What started out as an employee's complaints regarding lack of good beard products in the market, took a whole new form in the many grooming products that Ustraa offers, right from beard oils, aftershave balms to shaving creams and body wash. Such was the popularity and reach of Ustraa, that within a year of their launch, they had touched over 1000 towns across the country! Catch Rajat Tuli spill the beans on Rahul and his personal journey to build their dreams into a reality. Learn why the M.I.C.A graduates were called stupid and how that 'stupidity' transformed their lives with Happily Unmarried and Ustraa's inception, besides a lot more!

  12. The much-awaited '2.0' teaser was dropped on the internet yesterday and the result wasn't that positive as expected. Starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, it is touted to be India's first movie to spend $75 million dollars (around Rs. 545 crores), and more than 3000 technicians have invested their skills in the making of '2.0'. The makers wanted this movie to be a grand VFX spectacle, but it seems like netizens are not that pleased with the result. They are also upset with Akshay Kumar's blink-and-miss presence in the trailer. © Dharma Productions One would totally understand that a lot more is expected from Akshay, keeping his stardom in mind. And obviously, if this is the result of the $75 million dollar-worth VFX, we wonder what the makers were actually thinking? © Dharma Productions Fans took to Twitter and made sure to express their disappointment. 13. The sixth installment in the MI series aka 'Mission Impossible: Fallout' is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated and awaited movies of this year. I am sure y'all have varied reasons to patiently wait for the movie to release – Tom Cruise's epic comeback after a deadly injury, him performing the death-defying HALO jump or jumping from 25,000 feet over a 100 times like it's nobody's business, or Henry Cavill's moustache that cost Warner Bros. 25 million dollars. Paramount Pictures Well, whatever your reasons are, we just found one more to add in your already heavy list and that is the fact that, India plays a huge role in Ethan Hunt's quest to save the world. Paramount Pictures Reportedly, the climax scene of the movie is set in the backdrop of Kashmir, where Tom Cruise and his 'Mission Impossible' team will stop a sinister plan from taking its course. In fact, India will find its mention in the narrative multiple times throughout the movie. Instagram Although the movie mentions India, the Indian Army and the climax is set in Kashmir, the scenes aren't actually shot in India. Yes, you read that right! The movie talks about India a lot, but the makers didn't really shoot in the country. They gave a makeover to a valley in New Zealand to make it look like a small village in Kashmir. Reason – the makers didn't get permission to shoot a helicopter chase scene anywhere else except New Zealand. Paramount Pictures Wondering how Kashmir finds its way into the movie? It begins with a breakout of an epidemic in Kashmir that brings the nation on the radar of the after-effects of an attack. Ethan Hunt and his team cross borders and head to Kashmir to save the world and ward off the danger that is threatening a large chunk of the population. (FYI, don't call this a spoiler and even if you think so, don't blame me for it. I am equally surprised!) The movie is said to mention the Indian Army, show the daily lives of people in Kashmir and top it with a high-octane helicopter chase and crash in the snow-capped mountains. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, 'Mission: Impossible – Fallout' is releasing on July 27 and also stars actors Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Michelle Monaghan and Sean Harris. 16. If your dream was to star in a Hollywood movie, alongside Tom Hardy, one of the most handsome and finest actors in Hollywood– congratulations! You just reached a step closer to it. And you can thank the casting directors of Hardy's upcoming movie, for giving you a chance to make your distant dream come true. No, we are not ringing in April Fool's Day jokes already. Neither are we trying to give you false hopes only to shatter them eventually by calling it a hoax. We too are surprised by this news and some of us in my team, have already started secretly filling the application form. Reuters After reading this, I can already figure out what your reaction is going to be. “Yeah, sure ADMIN, in your wild dreams!” Initially, I had the same reaction, but somewhere I am hopeful for this to be true. After all, who will want to miss out on the chance of sharing screen-space with Tom Hardy? And this chance can be yours if you are free for the next few weeks and willing to travel to New Orleans. Keeping Hardy's die-hard fans aside, this news is for all those folks who haven't been following him closely. The 'Dunkirk' actor is now all set to star in 'Fonzo', a biopic on one of the world's most notorious crime bosses, Al Capone. And since Christopher Nolan is not directing the movie, Hardy's face won't be covered this time. 'Fonzo' is being directed by Josh Trank, who is known for making 'Fantastic Four' 2015. Instagram While, Hardy is playing the lead role, the casting directors have reportedly released an open casting call for everyone, who is interested in being a part of this movie. Just like y'all, I was also intrigued by the offer, so I checked out the site and found this. Nine9 Talent Services has said, “Casting Directors are looking for talent of all ages to work on scenes filming at the end of March and into April. This is a paid opportunity to work in a feature film based on the later stages of Al Capone's life and starring Tom Hardy.” If you are still contemplating about whether to apply or not, maybe Hardy's impressive first look from the movie will help you decide. Chasing Fonzo...ð¥ðððºð¸ð ð ð ðððð A post shared by Tom Hardy (@tomhardy) on Mar 24, 2018 at 10:55am PDT The movie will take us through the journey of Hardy as the infamous crime lord in his final years. After getting released from prison, Capone started suffering from dementia and was constantly being haunted by the memories of his past. In 1947, Al Capone died at the age of 48. We don't know if you'll get this role. Neither do we know whether you'll get to see Hardy at all. But, you can only know this if you check it out yourself. Source: Ladbible
  17. When we saw the Hindi version of 'Avengers: Infinity War' trailer,( https://www.mensxp.com/entertainment/hollywood/43279-the-avengers-infinity-war-hindi-trailer-is-way-better-than-any-bhojpuri-movie-ever-made.html ) we didn't think it could get any better than that. That was, in itself, the perfect parody, and that too unintentionally. But, a bunch of Malaysian guys are taking it up a notch (or, maybe down, we can't decide). Everyone is so excited about the upcoming Avengers movie and honestly, that is all we can talk about, after all, it's probably the biggest release of the year. While we're all desperately waiting for the movie to hit the screens, these guys found the perfect way to deal with the pain of waiting – by recreating the whole freaking first trailer. But, no it's not exactly a recreation. We all know that no one can reach the level of perfection that is the movie, but there is always the scope for making it more hilarious, right? That's exactly what these students did. Improving the original trailer (jk, don't @ me), they made a low budget version and if the spoof doesn't make you laugh, then you're probably not human. 18. Diebold Nixdorf Inc and NCR Corp, two of the world?s largest ATM makers, have warned that cyber criminals are targeting US cash machines with tools that force them to spit out cash in hacking schemes known as ?jackpotting.? The two ATM makers did not identify any victims or say how much money had been lost. Jackpotting has been rising worldwide in recent years, though it is unclear how much cash has been stolen because victims and police often do not disclose details. The attacks were reported earlier on Saturday by the security news website Krebs on Security, which said they had begun last year in Mexico. The companies confirmed to Reuters on Saturday they had sent out the alerts to clients. NCR said in a Friday alert that the cases were the first confirmed ?jackpotting? losses in the United States. It said its equipment had not been targeted in the recent attacks, but that it was still a concern for the entire ATM industry. ?This should be treated by all ATM deployers as a call to action to take appropriate steps to protect their ATMs against these forms of attack,? the alert said. Diebold Nixdorf said in a separate Friday alert that U.S. authorities had warned the company that hackers were targeting one of its ATM models, known as Opteva, which went out of production several years ago. A confidential US Secret Service alert sent to banks said the hackers targeted stand-alone ATMs typically located in pharmacies, big box retailers and drive-thru ATMs, Krebs on Security reported. Diebold Nixdorf?s alert described steps that criminals had used to compromise ATMs. They include gaining physical access, replacing the hard drive and using an industrial endoscope to depress an internal button required to reset the device. Reuters was unable to obtain a copy of the Secret Service report and an agency representative declined comment. Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation could not immediately be reached. Russian cyber security firm Group IB has reported that cyber criminals remotely attacked cash machines in more than a dozen countries across Europe in 2016. Similar attacks were also reported that year in Thailand and Taiwan.

Photo credit: courtesy YouTube1 Sanjay Leela Bhansali?s much-awaited Padmaavat seems to land itself in one controversy after another. After the change in title, the filmmakers have made significant cosmetic changes to the movie?s song Ghoomar to meet the guidelines advised by the Central Board of Film Certification. The new version of the song, which has been recently uploaded without any announcement, replaces Deepika Padukone?s bare midriff with a computer-generated cloth. After the song had released, the Rajput royalty had raised objections to Queen Padmini's [played by Deepika] character performing before an audience as according to their history, none of the Rajput maharanis has ever danced in front of anyone. The community also raised objection over midriff of the queen being visible in the song. Watch the video here: Padmaavat, which is set to release on January 25, also stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in supporting roles. The film, produced at a reported budget of close to Rs 200 crore, was recently given a clean run at the box office after actor Akshay Kumar postponed the release of his social drama, PadMan, by one week.
  20. The German car industry risks running short of key raw materials for automotive batteries, hampering a planned boost in the production of electric vehicles (EVs), Germany?s largest industry association BDI warned. ?The risk of running into bottlenecks in raw material supply is increasing because demand is growing faster than production capacity,? Matthias Wachter, head of security and raw materials at the BDI was quoted as saying by Sunday paper Welt am Sonntag. ?Without sufficient supplies for instance of cobalt, graphite, lithium or manganese there won?t be any future technology ?made in Germany?,? he added. Demand for these materials is expected to soar as carmakers rush to embrace EVs in response to governments around the world cracking down on pollution. German carmaker Volkswagen said it is pushing to secure long-term supply contracts to avoid material shortages as it aims to invest 34 billion euros (30.42 billion pounds) in battery-powered cars by 2022 to challenge Tesla Daimler?s Mercedes brand plans to offer an electric version of every model it sells by 2022, while rival BMW, a pioneer in electric cars with its i3 model, has vowed to achieve mass production by 2025 with 12 fully electric models. Recycling companies such as Belgium?s Umicore or US group Retriev Technologies are preparing to extract metals from old batteries so they can capitalise on an expected shortfall in materials.
  21. The release of the controversial Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been ?voluntarily? deferred, according to India media. The epic saga starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh has been embroiled in many controversies as protesters claim it "distorts history? and ?demeans? the Queen Padmini. However, the movie's cast has repeatedly denied the claims. A spokesperson of the film?s producer and distributor Viacom18 Motion Pictures said on Sunday, said that the movie will not release on its scheduled date, December 1, and a new release date will be announced once the ?requisite clearances? are in place. Deepika on Padmavati row: I feel hurt, I feel angry The leading lady has finally broken her silence on the controversies surrounding the movie In a statement, Viacom 18 spokesperson said, ?Viacom18 Motion Pictures, the studio behind ?Padmavati? has voluntarily deferred the release date of the film from December 1st 2017. The film is an eloquent portrayal of a tale that will fill every Indian with pride and showcase our country?s story-telling prowess across the globe," spokesperson said, adding "we are a responsible, law-abiding corporate citizen and have the highest respect and regard for the law of the land and all our institutions and statutory bodies including the Central Board of Film Certification. We always have and are committed to continue following the established procedure and convention. We have faith that we will soon obtain the requisite clearances to release the film. We will announce the revised release date of the film in due course," the statement added. On November 15, dozens of activists of far-right Shri Rajput Karni Sena stormed through a cinema hall in Kota to protest the screening of a teaser of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next movie 'Padmavati', which the group claims distort historical facts. The protesters vandalised booking counters, glass windows and gates, and office furniture of the theatre, informs an Indian newspaper. Reportedly the protesters have pelted stones at the theatre. The activists dispersed after the police used light force against them. As many as eight people have been detained following the violence and proceedings were on against 30-40 other people, a police official said.
  22. Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York, US, May 18, 2017. REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/Files The S&P 500 approached its highest ever close on Wednesday as a rally in video game-makers helped offset doubts about an ambitious Republican plan to cut corporate taxes and weakness in banks. Apple rose 0.65 percent, putting it on track to end the day with a market value above $900 billion for the first time. Take-Two Interactive Software jumped 10.8 percent after the video game-maker offered a stronger-than-expected revenue forecast for the holiday quarter. That sparked a rally among its competitors, with Activision Blizzard surging 5.80 percent and Electronic Arts adding 1.9 percent. Investors were nervous about the potential outcome of the Republican plan unveiled last week that would cut corporate taxes while eliminating a range of popular tax breaks. The bill is expected to face strong opposition from interest groups. Republicans have yet to score a major legislative win since Trump took office in January, even though the party controls both chambers of Congress as well as the White House. ?It?s a complicated, messy affair to get a tax bill passed,? said Tim Dreiling ? the regional investment director for US Bank Private Wealth Management, with $150 billion in assets under management. ?There is going to be some give and take before we get a final tax package to be voted on.? The S&P 500 has risen about 21 percent since the election of US President Donald Trump a year ago, partly on the back of his promises to cut taxes and other business-friendly measures. At 2:23 PM ET (12:23 AM PST, Thursday), the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.05 percent at 23,569.28 points, while the S&P 500 had gained 0.13 percent to 2,594.04. At that level, the S&P 500 was below an intra-day record high set on Tuesday but was higher than its previous record closing level on Monday. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.28 percent to 6,786.64. Five of the 11 major S&P sectors were higher, led by a 0.98-percent rise in consumer staples. The tech sector was boosted by a 1.45 percent rise in Qualcomm. Snapchat-owner Snap fell 16.6 percent a day after reporting much-slower-than expected advertising revenue and user growth. Snap said China?s Tencent bought a 12-percent stake in the company. Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.07-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.16-to-1 ratio favoured decliners.
  23. Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, attends an opening ceremony of a newly constructed residential complex in Ryomyong street in Pyongyang. Photo: Reuters SEOUL: The promotion of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un?s 28-year-old sister to the country?s top decision-making body is a sign he is strengthening his position by drawing his most important people closer to the center of power, experts and officials say. Kim Yo Jong was named as an alternate member of the politburo within the ruling Workers? Party of Korea - the opaque, all-powerful party organ where top state affairs are decided, the North?s official media said on Sunday. It makes her only the second woman in patriarchal North Korea to join the exclusive club after Kim Kyong Hui, who held powerful roles when her brother Kim Jong Il ruled the country. ?Since she is a female, Kim Jong Un likely does not see her as a threat and a challenge to his leadership,? said Moon Hong-sik, research fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy. ?As the saying goes ?blood is thicker than water,? Kim Jong Un thinks Kim Yo Jong can be trusted.? Unlike her aunt, who was promoted to the politburo in 2012 after serving more than three decades in the party, Kim Yo Jong has risen to power at an unprecedented pace. Kim Kyong Hui has not been seen since her husband, Jang Song Thaek, once regarded as the No.2 leader in Pyongyang, was executed in 2013. South Korea?s spy agency believes she is now in a secluded place near Pyongyang undergoing a treatment for an unidentified disease, according to an August briefing to parliament. Jang and his wife are not the only relatives to fall from Kim Jong Un?s favor. Kim Jong Un?s estranged half-brother, Kim Jong Nam, was killed with a toxic nerve agent at a Malaysian airport in February. Two women are on trial for the murder, which South Korean and U.S. officials believe Kim Jong Un?s regime was behind. Kim Jong Nam, who lived in exile in Macau, had criticized his family?s dynastic rule and his brother had issued a standing order for his execution, according to some South Korean lawmakers. IN A PONYTAIL AND BLACK SUITS The smartly dressed Kim Yo Jong, her hair usually pulled back in a ponytail and mostly seen in black suits and black-heeled shoes, made her first debut on state media in December 2011, seen standing tearfully next to Kim Jong Un at the funeral of their father. Since then, Kim has made several appearances with her brother, giggling at concerts, riding a white horse, smiling as she receives flowers on his behalf at state functions. Her youth and bubbly personality seen in state media are in stark contrast to the usually glum generals and aging party cadres who follow Kim Jong Un on official duties. Having previously only occasionally appeared in the background, the young heiress has moved to the front and center of media photos more recently, assisting her brother at numerous high-profile state events. At a massive military parade in April to mark the 105th birth anniversary of founding father Kim Il Sung, she was seen rushing out from behind pillars to bring paperwork to her brother as he prepared to give an address. The same month, she stood alongside him during the unveiling ceremony of a construction project in Pyongyang. In March 2016, she accompanied Kim Jong Un to a field guidance for nuclear scientists, where he claimed successful miniaturisation of nuclear warheads. ?Kim Yo Jong?s official inclusion in the 30-strong exclusive club of North Korea?s chief policy makers means her role within the regime will be expanded further,? Cheong Seong-chang, senior fellow at the Sejong Institute south of Seoul. BEHIND THE VEIL Apart from her age, little is known about Kim Yo Jong. She was publicly identified for the first time in February 2011 when a South Korean TV station caught her at a Eric Clapton concert in Singapore with her other brother, Kim Jong Chol. The three, who all reportedly went to school in Switzerland, are full blood siblings, born to Kim Jong Il?s fourth partner, Ko Yong Hui. Kim Jong Chol, the oldest of Kim Jong Il?s sons, does not involve himself in politics, leading a quiet life in Pyongyang where he plays guitar in a band, according to Thae Yong Ho, North Korea?s former deputy ambassador in London who defected to the South. In 2014, Kim Yo Jong was made vice director of the Workers? Party?s Propaganda and Agitation Department, which handles ideological messaging through the media, arts and culture. The position led the U.S. Treasury Department to blacklist her along with six other North Korean officials in January for ?severe human rights abuses? and censorship that concealed the regime?s ?inhumane and oppressive behavior?. Last year, South Korea?s former spy chief said Kim Yo Jong was seen ?abusing power?, punishing propaganda department executives for ?minor mistakes?. In a North Korean state media photo in January 2015, she was spotted wearing a ring on her fourth finger during a visit to a child care center. South Korean intelligence officials say Kim might have wed a schoolmate from the prestigious Kim Il Sung University, but there has been no confirmation of whether she is indeed married or to whom.
  24. Game of Thrones fans, last season was too good to watch; after all, we had our hands on some of the episodes (on our laptops basically) even before its release. Well, the makers definitely realised how amazingly talented the hackers are when it comes to piracy and have decided to do something sneaky to keep hackers at bay. In order to avoid all the fiasco and spoil the last season of the most watched series, makers have come up with an amazing idea. Well, they know if season 8's episodes are leaked it will be written in history. Yeah, kind of! So they have decided to shoot multiple endings for the last season of GOT. Fans and hackers, if you think you are smart, it seems like makers are smarter! Speaking of The Morning Call, the head of HBO, Casey Bloys, talked about their intention to do so and said, “I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens . You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end." As many of us, HBO served a major hack this year and couple of the episodes were released online before it was officially aired. © HBO Talking about what the finale could be, he said, "Finales are tough. If you think about Six Feet Under, well, that was a pretty good finale. But if you think about Seinfeld, if you think about The Sopranos, if you think about Breaking Bad... Everybody has an opinion about how a show should end." Now it is obvious, that going through what HBO has already suffered, the makers don't mind going an extra mile and shooting several versions of the ending, so the whole finale is saved. Honestly, now we are very curious about how many endings will be shot and what all could be part of the predicted ending. Share your ideas with us.
  25. Disclaimer: Spoilers ahead from episode 4, ‘The Spoils of War'. While the whole world was in shock after the hackers leaked the fourth episode of ‘Game Of Thrones', thanks to the makers, we are not regretting watching the leaked episode ahead of everyone else. ‘The Spoils of War' was the mother of all episodes, with the ‘loot train attack' being the one of the most fierce and explosive battles of all time. The amount of water I spit out of my mouth in excitement and shock was more than the stream of flame that Drogon spewed out to erase Jamie Lannister's forces. Although I am kind of disappointed with the name of the battle, the fight itself was more of a massacre than anything else. © HBO With the mother of dragons raining down fire from the sky and the Dothraki slaying people on ground, this episode was f**king awesome and one can only imagine how tough it would have been to shoot the whole scene. The episode has left us perplexed and confused as to who to root for after this whole sequence. While we enjoyed the deadly battle between Jamie Lannister's army and Daenerys' dragon along with the Dothraki, here's a behind-the-scenes featurette video that you must watch. This video talks about the amount of effort that went into making this battle one of the deadliest affairs in the television history. Trust me, the video will make you fall in love with ‘Game Of Thrones' all over again. Apparently, this episode happens to be most amount of time when Emilia Clarke was seen riding the dragon. Joe Bauer, VFX supervisor said that in Season 6, there were 11 shots of Daenerys riding the dragon, but in this loot train attack alone there were more than 80. To give a little brief *cough spoiler cough* of this episode, Jamie Lannister and his army were heading home after their victory at Highgarden, when they were attacked by Daenerys and the Dothraki in Westeros, and not just the 27 loot carriages but the soldiers were burned alive as well. © HBO We do feel bad for Tyrion Lannister who was left with no option but to watch his brother and his army lose in front of his eyes. He can't go against Danerys after all. Having said that, our dragon mother on the other hand has finally let loose her dragons in Westeros, and their fury has been unleashed and the bar has now been set really high. Let's just hope that the next episode manages to keep the pace and the build up at a pinnacle.
