  1. Arguably one of the most popular and iconic cricketers in the country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will probably go down in history as one of the greatest contributors to Indian cricket. If his blistering middle-order batting aided his team in pressure situations, Dhoni's commendable leadership allowed the Indian team to scale new heights in international cricket. And then, there is his unbelievable wicket-keeping skills. His ability to influence a match in different ways is what eventually allowed him to become the pride of the nation. His unorthodox style has struck a chord with cricket fans across the globe. While he has already retired from the longest format and his fans have been surely missing him during India's ongoing tour of Australia, cricket enthusiasts got a glimpse of MSD at the Mzansi Super League (MSL) - thanks to Rashid Khan. While Dhoni himself wasn't playing in the South African T20 league, the Afghanistan cricketer reminded everyone of the former Indian captain by successfully emulating his signature 'Helicopter Shot' during the clash between Durban Heat and Tshwane Spartans. ðððððð @MSL_T20 @durban_heat ðð»ðð» pic.twitter.com/0yfE6NnQWt — Rashid Khan (@rashidkhan_19) December 13, 2018 Chasing a competitive total of 188 runs, the Durban franchise suffered early setbacks but Albie Morkel's breathtaking innings kept them in the hunt. With 50 runs required off 23 deliveries, Rashid came out to bat after the dismissal of Keshav Maharaj on the first delivery of the 17th over. With his side desperately in need of some boundaries, the Afghan cricketer got into the act right on the very first delivery he faced. The 20-year-old smacked Lutho Sipamla for a towering six over the deep-midwicket by successfully pulling off Dhoni's 'Helicopter Shot'. Though Rashid couldn't do much later as he was eventually dismissed on the third delivery he faced, the Afghan spinner surely made Dhoni and his fans proud by unleashing the 'Helicopter Shot'. Despite Rashid's dismissal, Morkel's sensational 28-ball 57 secured a thrilling two-wicket win for Durban. 2. Over the years, Premier League has taught us many things. But, the most important lesson is: big-spending clubs don't like to lose. And, why would they? These giants, with less patience and more money, are doing everything. They're splurging big bucks on the managers, dishing out astronomical weekly wages to the players and then, there is some business aspect that needs to be taken care of as well. For these clubs, not winning or deriving favourable results, often leads to the sacking of the manager. Sans the sacking part, everything listed above has happened at the hallowed Old Trafford. But, their fortunes haven't improved (at least not as of now). You see, big clubs can buy mega-buck players and they can rope in shrewd tacticians as managers, but money will never teach them how to play together as a team, as a unit - a problem that has plagued United this season. For a team that has won 11 Premier League titles, Manchester United currently find themselves languishing at the seventh spot (14 points below their city rivals). And, the fact that Everton, a club much smaller in size and stature than United, is trailing the Red Devils by a point in the table sums up their season so far. © Reuters The United fans are bewildered with the team's ever-frustrating slump. The players are bemused with the coach's questionable tactics. And, the coach is entangled in a cold war with the club's top brass. For United, victories seem like a far-fetched dream - one that is capable of not only enticing the fans, but, as it turns out, the manager too. The frustrating 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace over the last weekend did push Man Utd and their fans over the edge, with Jose Mourinho publicly claiming that the clash against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League was the last chance for their star players. With their reputation and last 16 berth on the line, Mourinho's men had a point to prove at the Old Trafford. But, there was a lot of frustration before the eventual relief. Lacking creativity in the midfield, and, belief and togetherness they need to challenge for titles and trophies, United rarely looked in control of the game. After Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini wasted good chances and the hosts appeared to have run out of ideas, Mourinho and a packed Old Trafford finally had a sigh of relief when the Belgian struck in the injury time - United's 21st effort at goal. © Reuters Fellaini's goal allowed United to secure a much-needed 1-0 win and their berth for the Round of 16 stage in Europe. For those who haven't followed United this season or are unaware of their troubles, Mourinho's reaction to Fellaini's last-gasp winner should sum up what it meant for the Red Devils and the Portuguese himself. 27.11.16: Jose Mourinho sent off for kicking an innocent water bottle 27.11.18: ðpic.twitter.com/vVqN75NTdQ — Full Time DEVILS (@FullTimeDEVILS) November 28, 2018 At the touchline, Mourinho resembled Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain who famously marked the end of particularly satisfying gigs, at times, just individual songs, by reducing his guitar to splinters against the nearest amp. While the United manager didn't have a guitar to dispose of, he perfectly channelled his inner rock god as he took out his emotion on a basket of bottles. Well, who needs a guitar when you can pull off a Nirvana moment with some water bottles. There hasn't been this much disdain for a watercarrier at Old Trafford since the great Eric Cantona meltdown when he was asked for his opinion on international teammate Didier Deschamps. While Rio Ferdinand claimed that it was an attempt to grab the limelight, Mourinho couldn't disagree more. "The ones who comment on football, not a lot of them have been on the touchline. For those who speak about expressing frustration on the bench I would invite them to come and sit there as a manager," he said. 3. Ahead of their highly-anticipated tour of Australia, the Indian cricket team, owing to their form, was expected to give their opponents a run for their money in the T20Is and ODIs. But, despite their marauding run this year, even the Indian cricket fans knew that Virat Kohli & Co will face a sterner test in the longest format. The four-match Test series, after a 1-1 draw in the T20Is, is what everyone has been waiting for. A strong and rising Team India taking on a depleted, but still dangerous, Australian brigade in testing conditions is a contest that has the potential of making any cricket fan's day. Will Kohli score a hundred? Can Rohit Sharma silence his naysayers with a crucial knock in Tests? Can Indian batsmen survive the challenge posed by Aussie quicks? Or will the Test series against India mark a new age in Australian cricket which is struggling to find its feet after the shambolic ball-tampering scandal? We don't know the answers to these questions yet, but one thing is for sure: it will be a cracker of a series. © Reuters The Indian cricket team might be high on confidence, but they will definitely be wary of Australia going into the Tests. Thus, unlike their South African tour, the Kohli brigade was eager to play their warm-up games. In a bid to get accustomed to the Australian wickets and conditions, Team India was scheduled to play a practice game against Cricket Australia XI. But, incessant rain played spoilsport on Day 1. Unable to get any gametime, the Indian team was aided with an additional day which has been added to their practice game to make up for lost time. But, if anyone knows Kohli, they'll know that there is no such thing as downtime in the Indian skipper's dictionary. While others might have used the rain stoppage to do other things, Kohli and a couple of teammates decided to make it count. Staying true to his philosophy, Kohli was seen sweating it out in the gym in the company of opening batsman Murali Vijay and fast bowler Ishant Sharma. The rain doesn't seem to be going away so we decided to make something of our day âï¸ðª. Gotta love a good workout with the boys. #makeeverydaycount pic.twitter.com/E94yPIcpRv — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) November 28, 2018 The Indian captain shared a picture of himself in the company of his Team India mates from the gym. "The rain doesn't seem to be going away so we decided to make something of our day. Gotta love a good workout with the boys. #makeeverydaycount", tweeted Kohli before the first day concluded without a ball being bowled. There's no ideal way to put in hard work. Everyday is an opportunity. Stay fit stay healthy! âï¸ðªð pic.twitter.com/ytNV9bTrLg — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) November 17, 2018 With Shikhar Dhawan excluded from the Test side, the Kohli brigade will probably witness KL Rahul opening the innings alongside Vijay. On the other hand, the inclusion of Rohit in the squad could very well mean that the Mumbai batsman might occupy a spot in India's middle-order during the Tests. The Indian team will take on Australia in the first Test which is slated to begin from 6th December at the Adelaide Oval.
  4. Jason Momoa fans don't have to wait for long, as the release date for his upcoming 'Aquaman' is nearing, and pushing the excitement a notch higher is the latest trailer that dropped a while ago. The movie will trace the journey of how Arthur (Jason Momoa) was trained by Vulko (William Dafoe) to rule Atlantis. He is supposed to be the 'ruler of the deep' , something which Jason essays quite convincingly. © Warner Bros The power of the Trident needs to be taken from Arthur's brother Orm and the trailer gives us a glimpse into what goes down in this war of power. The movie stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman among others, and Aquaman is helmed by James Wan. 5. Freddie Mercury: I want to be part of your band Roger Taylor: Not with those teeth, mate Freddie Mercury: I was born with four additional incisors. More space in my mouth means more range Disclaimer: Spoiler Alert! I can't begin to describe how the hair at the back of my neck stood every time Rami Malek sang an iconic Queen song in the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. The band that put every other glam rock band or artist to a pivotal litmus test back in the 70s and 80s, has finally been encapsulated into a movie directed by Bryan Singer. The movie was a thoroughbred admiration for the band that gave us many hits in the two decades they were actively making music and it has simply done justice to the life and death of the legendary Farrokh Bulsara aka Freddie Mercury. © 20th Century Fox A group of four 'misfits', as they best describe themselves, were every bit of rock 'n roll, beatnik hippies and rock lovers that we grew up listening to. The sunshine glam band that only passed the 'buck' while making fun of Freddie's buck teeth, instead of blunts, was every bit of 'let's do anything to never die at 27' kinda foursome. Bryan spends the 2.5 hours of the movie touching every bit of Mercury's key milestones as an artist, including his flamboyancy on and off stage, his way of making music and his strange yet powerful relationship with his best friend- Mary Austin, played by Lucy Boynton. © 20th Century Fox The movie starts with the young twosome Roger Taylor and Brian May performing at a nightclub with their band 'Smile'. Farrokh offers his singing skills to them, as their front man and lead vocalist since their earlier vocalist Tim Staffell has left the band. After a brief banter between the three, where they make fun of Freddie's buck teeth, he is given a chance to perform at a gig and apart from the racists slurs the audience throws Farrokh's way, he's loved by everyone because of his unique voice, that reaches a 5 octave vibrato, very easily. A talent no one else possessed back then. The three along with bassist John Deacon form the band 'Queen' and the rest is very-'easy come, easy go'! © 20th Century Fox What I found as the defining moment for the movie was Queen bringing 'Bohemian Rhapsody to life'. A lesser known fact revealed about the song was that it was discarded as 'bullshit' by the EMI record executive Ray Foster, who also believed young people wouldn't break their necks dancing to a '6 minute song'. I believe what he said was 'it goes on forever, six bloody minutes', to which Freddie replied 'I pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever'. The leap of faith the boys take after they leave Foster's office is phenomenal because the song broke every record on the hit singles chart and was the biggest hit of the 80's. Hell, I'd be damned if I don't find people karaoking to it even today at familiar bars around town. But the point is, the band is shown to have differences and dim moments where they bicker about irrelevant things, but they are also shown to be as close-knit as the ugly sweaters your grandma knits for you, whenever she gets a chance to. © 20th Century Fox The only thing I am not sure about though is if the band ever battled a guy named Ray Foster. He seems remarkably fictitious and there is no mention of him anywhere in history. Even so, the movie is worth the watch just to see how they actually came up with the epic song, especially the lyrics which define Mercury's death wish; like he knew he was going to die soon and he wrote a song about that, just to honour his wish and die with dignity, pride and a little bit of operatic theatre. But having said that, no one goes to watch a movie expecting a pristine history lesson to be honest. There was a lot a 2.5 hour movie couldn't fit into the reel. The two decades of tours and experiences the band had could only be justified through some famous tours they took and, of course, the biggest concert they ever played at- Live Aid. © 20th Century Fox Apart from the comforting relationship Freddie shared with his band mates, there was another solemnly beautiful relationship he had with a girl named Mary Austin. He was dating her for a long while until it was revealed he was gay. The confrontation of this fact is arbitly beautiful between the two of them where he tells her that he thinks he might be bisexual and she turns around and tells him 'Freddie you're gay and I have known this for a while' and goes on to say 'your life is going to be very difficult', which was a fairly moving moment for me because she was absolutely right. Even so, their relationship was dreamy yet powerful, something I'd aspire to have with someone, I am not sexually or romantically involved with. Freddie was at his vulnerable best with her and even wrote the song 'Love Of My Life' to commemorate his love for her. Ironically he never sang the song to her but sang it live at one concert and had thousands of people sing it back to him, which he later told Mary it felt great because it seemed like people were singing this song for her, instead. © 20th Century Fox Even with a simple yet complicated relationship like that, his loneliness and his lifestyle were simplified in the movie which dictated his choices, while living in England in the 70's-80's as a gay Indian rock star ('Pakkie' to most), who loved to party and have a visibly 'promiscuous' streak, as a part of his lifestyle. Freddie's life wasn't easy. Just as no celebrities' is. Especially when the movie discloses his loneliness pangs and his constant companionship with his cats, which was palpable throughout the feature. I was compelled to feel blatantly sad at how he lived his life, during his last days. © 20th Century Fox The movie ends with the famous Live Aid concert, held at Wembley which was telecasted globally to an audience that loved music in the 80s. Queen's last minute decision to participate in the concert gave the movie the extra edge that it needed. Queen had dismembered for a while before the concert, so coming back for it and practising just for a weak was a marvellous victory for them and for Freddie, who was living his last days, as he was battling AIDS. © 20th Century Fox Rami Malek has done a phenomenal job by playing Freddie Mercury and I believe no one could have pulled off this role better (yes, I mean not even Sacha Baron Cohen, who was considered for the role earlier). His toothy prosthetics and outlandish clothes to transform into Queen's front man will definitely shortlist him for the Oscar's is what I believe. His performance was to the T and he absolutely nailed the Live Aid concert shots by mimicking the exact gestures and body stances as that of Freddie's. It took him 1,500 views of the original video to perfect his own performance of it! If this guy doesn't land an Oscar, then no one should! © 20th Century Fox Apart from that, other cast members like Gwilyn Lee, who plays Brian May has an uncanny resemblance to him and delivers the OG Brian's part justly. Joe Mazzello plays bassist John Deacon and Ben Hardy Steps into Roger Taylor's shoes. They all have given power punch performances and have really given us a glimpse into Rock and Rock Hall Of Fame's favourite band. © 20th Century Fox I came out feeling overwhelmed and nostalgic all at once after watching the movie. When has Queen not been a part of your life? Be it singing Bohemian Rhapsody for a karaoke session, or going nuts every time and Indie band covers 'We Will Rock You'; or even heading to your favourite watering hole and hearing 'I Want To Break Free' for the hundredth time and not cringing for even a second for the blatant repetition. The movie is definitely worth a watch. Carry some extra tissues (in case you tear up, you perv) and an empty heart so you can leave with a heavy one, right after it's over. Watch the trailer here
  6. India is on an all-time high when it comes to its indigenous productions and successes. The Indian Space research Organisation, better known as ISRO happens to be one such organisation that has done India proud on multiple occasions. And ISRO has done it all over again by successfully launching India's heaviest rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-MkII), that was carrying communication satellite GSAT-29 from the rocket port in Sriharikota. It is being reported that GSAT-29 has been launched for better communication opportunities in remote areas. The GSLV-Mk III weighs 640 tons and was 43.4 metres in height. The rocket took off from the Sriharikota port at 5.08 pm today. © Twitter Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated ISRO for the successful launch. Two more launches are scheduled before the year ends, with the GSAT-7A satellite for use by the Indian Air Force set to hit the floors later this month, and the GSAT-11, which was recalled from the launchpad in April year during pre-flight tests. Great work by the capable people at ISRO.
  7. A lot of people who come to me, are in a putrid state in terms of body composition. When I mean body composition, I mean primarily a total combination of posture, body fat percentage and lean muscle mass. This is mainly due to two reasons: - Their own mistake. they are living a sedentary lifestyle, no resistance training, eating junk food and severe nutrient deficiency. - On the other hand, are those who have lost weight in a wrong manner. In this piece, we will talk about the second group of people who lost weight in a wrong manner. Every day I meet people who have lost lots of weight but their body composition is such that, they are actually in the worst shape of their lives. The Difference Between Getting Thin & Getting Lean And Strong © YouTube In terms of weight loss, this happens primarily because people do not understand the difference between getting skinny fat and getting fit. The difference, by the way, is huge. This is also the case with most trainers and dieticians, who are ready to somehow show you a massive dip in weight on the weighing scale anyhow, to make you happy. Because that's what you want to see. Whenever you see a labourer working, he is not fit, he is thin. That's because of extremely low-calorie consumption and excessive physical activity. This is what most people actually do to get thin. However, the labourer is still ripped, because he is not doing tons of cardio a day, but primarily doing work which is a kind of high-intensity work, like digging, lifting & carrying loads, pulling or pushing movements etc. So he is basically overdoing the physical work, and undereating. Overdoing Cardio & Severely Under Eating © Thinkstock Images This is where the problem lies. The last thing an obese person needs is excessive cardio and a starvation diet. Long duration steady state cardio workouts are the worst prescriptions in this case. Excessive running coupled with a very low-calorie diet and you have a physiological disaster. The result is a drastic loss in water weight. Loss of the most precious component, muscle mass. A decline in the metabolism follows thereafter. Lose Fat, Get Stronger And Preserve Muscle Mass At The Same Time. That's Real Fitness! Anyone who needs to lose fat must first understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss and getting thin and getting fit. Resistance training and high-intensity cardiovascular workouts should always form the base of the training in such cases along with a healthy and nutritious diet. One single point I have been pressing upon again and again is that there is a big difference in weight loss and fat loss. It's the weight which most people aim for, which is simply a reduction in the needle on the weighing scale. This is what your dietician or slimming centre is an expert in showing you. Because it's easy. When you lose weight, you do lose a bit of fat, but majorly muscle mass and water. What's challenging is to lose fat, get stronger and preserve muscle mass at the same time. That's real fitness. How Do You Burn More Fat? © Thinkstock Images Muscle cells have a fat burning powerhouse called as the mitochondria. These mitochondria are responsible for the production of energy. More the muscle mass, more amount of mitochondria, and more the fat burning capacity of the body. The body needs a strong reason to produce more mitochondria. This reason is given by weight training and high-intensity workouts. These workouts create a large demand for energy above what your body can already produce and hence, the body is forced to create new mitochondria. What Happens When You Crash Diet? The exact opposite happens when you lose excess weight faster. You are slowing your metabolism down, as you are losing all your precious muscle mass. When you are training for strength, your muscle mass is going to go up. When this happens, your fat burning capacity goes up but also does go up your weight, because muscles are denser than fat. 8. Do you remember what you were doing at the age of 10? Whatever it was, I can guarantee it wasn't anything close to winning the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. Arshdeep Singh is just 10-years-old and he's already officially cooler than me. He won the exciting award for his photograph 'Pipe Owls' in the 10-years-and-under category. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is organised by Britain's Natural History Museum. No wonder he won though, just look at how cool the picture he clicked is! © Natural History Museum There's obviously a story behind the picture as well. Arshdeep came across a spotted owlet popping its head out from an old waste-pipe while he was driving through Punjab's Kapurthala with his father. After asking his father to stop the car, he rested the camera on the half-open window of the car at eye level, and soon enough, a second owlet popped up and he captured the moment beautifully. 9. Ever since Kapil Dev's team's World Cup triumph in 1983, cricket has reigned supreme like no other in India. In this part of the world, cricket is considered a religion and the cricketers are worshipped as demigods. The contest between bat and ball entices the fans and the decibel levels inside the stadium are understandably at an all-time high. For a sport that generally brings the entire nation to a standstill, cricket has also allowed the players to garner the spotlight and enjoy a greater fan-following than other athletes. From the stadiums to a public event, fans are generally seen thronging the cricketers like white on rice. There are times, when some fans are lucky enough to get a starry moment with their favourite cricketers, on other occasions, they have to contend with just a glimpse. In a recent case, an Indian cricket fan found herself in a similar position when she spotted Anil Kumble on a domestic flight. The legendary @anilkumble1074 in my BLR-MUM flight. Glanced at him once and was reminded of that game in West Indies where he bowled with a bandaged jaw. Teared up a bit. Gawwddd, I'm such a sucker for cricket memories. ð — Sohini (@Mittermaniac) October 9, 2018 Star-struck by the former Indian coach's presence on the Bangalore-Mumbai flight, the Indian fan took to Twitter and shared her excitement on the microblogging website. "The legendary @anilkumble1074 in my BLR-MUM flight. Glanced at him once and was reminded of that game in West Indies where he bowled with a bandaged jaw. Teared up a bit. Gawwddd, I'm such a sucker for cricket memories," she tweeted. I want to go up to @anilkumble1074 and say a 'Thank You' for all the joy, all the victories, all the memories. But, I am getting cold feet. — Sohini (@Mittermaniac) October 9, 2018 She went on further to add: "I want to go up to @anilkumble1074 and say a 'Thank You' for all the joy, all the victories, all the memories. But, I am getting cold feet". Still weighing in her options about meeting the Indian spin legend, the fan was swept off her feet by Kumble's sweet gesture. Responding to her tweet, the former Indian bowler wrote: "Please feel free to come over and say hi after take off @Mittermaniac". Taken by surprise, the fan wasted no time before rushing to Kumble who gave her an autograph on her boarding pass. Will have to get a boarding pass framed now. Thank you, @anilkumble1074. Someday I want to learn humility from you. pic.twitter.com/YbcJP1s8hi — Sohini (@Mittermaniac) October 9, 2018 "Will have to get a boarding pass framed now. Thank you, @anilkumble1074. Someday I want to learn humility from you," she thanked Kumble for his beautiful gesture on Twitter. For a man who will always be remembered as one of the greatest spin wizards from India, Kumble struck a chord with the fans for his down-to-earth approach and calm demeanour. Even if he has called time on his cricketing career, the 47-year-old leggie continues to enthral fans, only this time with his humility.
  10. Xiaomi has become a fairly popular brand in the country, thanks to its budget and midrange Redmi phones. The company has managed to grab a huge chunk of the smartphone market in India within a very short period, thanks to aggressive pricing. The Chinese giant now wants to expand its portfolio in the country and has launched the Amazfit brand for wearables. The Amazfit lineup of devices actually comes from Huami, a company wherein Xiaomi is a major stakeholder. The brand has been successful in selling the Mi Band like hotcakes, and now, it intends to do the same for more advanced smart bands as well as smartwatches. When we consider the Indian market, smartwatches are still a niche and are pretty expensive. You can buy a midrange or even a flagship phone for the price of an Apple Watch, while the Samsung Gear S3 is fairly expensive as well. Closest to the Amazfit Pace is Fitbit's Versa. The pace is built keeping an all-rounder in mind, a fitness gadget as well as a trendy utility. Let's see whether the watch is actually able to take on Fitbit, Samsung, and Apple, at pretty much half the rate! 1. Display & Build: © MensXP When you first look at the Pace, there's nothing distinctive about it. The watch has a circular display, rubberised watch-band, a colourful palette, and polycarbonate backing. The display bezel is made of ceramic and instantly reminds us of the Moto 360 Sport. The bezel is too shiny, making it look thick and very conventional. A small physical button is located on the top-right side, and it's genuinely too small. The button is slightly towards the underside and very subtle, but the same design makes it difficult to press instantly. And the button plays a major role in regular usage because the screen wakes up with a press and also acts as the home screen button when you've entered an app. The watch does have a tap-to-wake feature, but more on that later. At the back, you'll see the heart rate scanner along with four metallic points that fit into the charging base that is provided along with the watch. While the watch is reasonably thick, the slightly curved belly does a good job in hiding the actual thickness. One thing I absolutely love about the watch is that it's lightweight, coming in at just 55 grams. The watch also utilises and accepts any standard 22mm watch strap. The in-box strap is made of soft rubbery silicone, the one we have is black to match the watch front, with a red underside. The body has an IP67 rating and can be used in the shower and freshwater swimming as well. © MensXP Coming to the display, it has a 1.34-inch LCD display that is always on and has a transflective coating. In a nutshell, the display isn't vibrant and massively lacks contrast. When you increase the brightness, it looks completely washed out and colours are dull. The auto-brightness function also is under programmed, hence, I manually chose to keep the brightness at level 4 all the time. The watch has gesture support to turn on the backlight of the display, but it's very spotty. More than half of the time it failed to detect and forced me to use the physical button. Also, you need to press the button every time you want to activate the display, this is really annoying when a notification pops up and you naturally try to open or close it and the display remains unresponsive, and you have to go back to the button! In direct sunlight, you'll actually have to focus on the display for a few seconds, maybe even bring it closer to you. The washed out panel combined with the powerful sunlight makes it a pain to view the display easily. 2. Tracking & Performance: © MensXP The Pace has a 1.2GHz processor alongside 512MB of memory. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth 4.0, features WiFi for firmware updates and its own GPS for tracking your workouts. The addition of a standalone GPS unit means you can go out on a workout without your phone, all the data is stored locally for the time being and synced when your phone is nearby. This is an excellent addition for fitness freaks or runners and a feature that isn't available on the much expensive Fitbit Versa. In terms of activity tracking, the watch is definitely on par with the Fitbit Versa. The work out modes are very handy and the GPS is usually accurate in location sensing. The display also shows all of the desired data points, such as your pace, distance, heart rate and time. The heart rate scanner slightly feels off, by 5-7 beats, but does an excellent job when done with a stable hand. Charging the watch is easy, you just need to snap the base on the back, connect the micro-USB wire in the base and you're good to go. I prefer the lighter and smaller base of the Pace over the Fitbit's larger boxy base portability wise. 3. UI & Notifications: © MensXP The operating system is very smooth but often becomes unresponsive. I believe the poor display panel is to be blamed for the stutters because if you carefully navigate, the UI is buttery smooth. You can swipe left from the watch face to access other basic apps such as the weather and stopwatch, get an overview of your activity so far, access sleep data, and use the remote music controls. A right swipe will bring you multiple work-out modes while a swipe up brings the notifications. The built-in apps include Weather Forecast, Daily Overview, Heart Rate, Music, Alarm, Compass, Stopwatch, Sleep, and Timer. The various work out modes includes Outdoor/Indoor Run, Trail Run, Walk, Outdoor/Indoor Bike, Elliptical, and more. It also has a bunch of pre-installed watch faces that are designed keeping maximum information output in mind. The watch face can also be customised by uploading photos and you can receive notifications for incoming calls and messages. Keep in mind, even though it is a smartwatch, you can only view notifications. No responding back to messages via canned answers or a mic. The watch quickly pairs up with an Android or iOS device and data syncing is quick. All apps that generate notifications on your phone are supported. The vibration generated is powerful and can be changed via the settings menu. 4. Battery Life: © MensXP If you use the heart rate scanner, full-time on notifications, and hourly activities every day, the watch will easily last you at least 4-4.5 days. This is fairly good because the watch has a full-time GPS unit and an LCD display, two most power intensive modules. If you don't use it for intensive activity, the battery will last you at least five days. The good thing is, it also shows you the estimated time left for the battery to fully drain out. This enables you to plan your charging time, something I definitely miss on the Fitbit Versa. Charging the Amazfit Pace is via a proprietary cradle that clips onto the back of the device. From 5 percent to 100 percent takes about two and a half hours, which is slightly on the higher side, but then the output is also high, so no complains there. 5. Conclusion: © MensXP The Pace is an entry level smartwatch, that barely qualifies to be a smart "watch" and not a "band". The designers have tried to put in as much functionality as possible but had to cut corners in every department. It has an always-on display, but it's underwhelming when the backlight is switched on. The OS is smooth, but too gesture-based and the touchscreen is laggy. The design is subtle but looks too conventional. It has a physical button, but it is located in a very inaccessible location. If you're out there for a smartwatch that has almost everything, at a basic level, go for the Pace. If you're looking for a purely fitness based smartwatch, we'd recommend the Fitbit Versa. And, if you want a full-fledged smartwatch, go for the Samsung Gear, or the Apple Watch. We can't really complain about the Pace because it is considerably cheaper than the competition, but comes with its own set of drawbacks that are too major to be easily ignored.
  11. There is some excellent news for fans of the X-Men franchise out there. The first trailer of 'Dark Phoenix' is finally here and it looks as dark and 'grey' as an Anurag Kashyap melodrama. But we're not here to critique it as much as we're here to talk about it, so let's talk about it! I feel the movie is a grave attempt by Simon Kinberg, the director (who also wrote 'The Last Stand') to push forth a female-led superhero flick, that goes into deep melodrama and centres around the protagonist's (Jean Grey) past and her present. © 20th Century Fox If you remember Dr. Jean Grey, she was first introduced in 2000, in 'X-Men' as a contained and intelligent, highly evolved mutant, taking care of the kids from Charles Xavier's mansion. We see her character develop over the first two movies, wherein she mysteriously disappears at the end of the second movie, to come back again in the poorly received 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006). 'Dark Phoenix' is a loose take on Jean Grey's character from back then, revamped and repackaged, to perhaps go into mere details of why the conflict between her dual personalities is causing so much havoc around her. But the movie is not a direct adaptation of 'The Last Stand', because in 2014, when 'Day's Of The Future Past' was released, it focused on wiping the events that occurred in the earlier X-Men series (remember, when they all go back in the past to change the circumstances around?). So, I certainly believe this is Simon Kinberg's take on a more faithful and detailed adaptation this time, intending at a brand new beginning of a new X-Men trilogy. © 20th Century Fox Okay, let's focus on what 'Dark Phoenix' is about. Well, for starters, there is no 'X-Men' in the title and the movie is simply called 'The Dark Phoenix'. That's probably because the movie focuses on Jean Grey's life, more than any other character from the franchise. The movie stars the usual suspects- Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, along with Jennifer Lawrence as Raven aka Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy aka Beast, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers aka Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi-Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and a new addition- Jessica Chastain, who plays a negative role as a mysterious shapeshifter, who manipulates the Phoenix. © 20th Century Fox The trailer focuses on Jean Grey coming to Prof. Xavier with a boatload of questions as a kid, after experiencing a terrible car crash, where her parents are killed. The clip also reveals that Xavier doesn't tell her that she's an A-grade mutant who has infinite powers and that she's probably the reason behind the death of her parents, suppressing her memories for her to remember anything. But, as we've all seen in the past, Jean is entirely incapable of controlling her powers and her dual personalities start conflicting. Simultaneously and inevitably, she unleashes a force, that's bigger and more powerful than anything, becoming one with the Dark Phoenix entity, causing chaos and destruction. The basic crux of the awaited X-Men movie is Jean Grey's untimely chaos and her ability to spiral out of control, hurting the ones she loves the most, while the team comes together, again, to save her and the planet from Alien villains, who want to weaponise her force and rule the galaxy. © 20th Century Fox Man, that's one predictable plot if you've seen the earlier X-Men instalments, but this one promises a lot more fury and chaos and, of course, the usual X-Men episodic saga. Well, this is the last X-Men movie to come under the auspices of Fox, with Marvel Studio paving the way for X-Men's inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, even if the movie implodes, it's at the least of risks because it'll be easier for Walt Disney and Kevin Feige (head of Marvel Studios), to wipe the slate clean and reboot the entire franchise for it to be included in the MCU. © 20th Century Fox But all of this remains in the realms of mere speculation. For now, let's just wait this one out. The second trailer should come out with more clarity in December sometime, and the final release of the movie is said to be on February 14th, 2019.

The highlight of the first day of the fifth test match between England and India was not a good catch or a shot of a six, but it was Shikhar Dhawan's impromptu Bhangra that took the 'desis' around the world by storm. 13. When it comes to sports, cricket is arguably the only one that has been hot on heels of football in terms of popularity across the globe. Often labelled as the gentleman's game, cricket offers a lot of excitement to the fans. From brilliant batting displays, majestic bowling spells to electric fielding efforts, there is almost everything a fan wishes for in a particular sport. But, every now and then, there comes a moment of uncanny incidents that grab the limelight. Something similar came to the fore recently in Australia where a practice match between National Performance Squad (NPS) and Victoria became the talk of the town. The NPS side generally features young guns from the country and allows them to gain much-needed exposure. But, there was something important to learn for the youngsters after Australian batsman Jake Weatherald made a complete fool of himself on the pitch. The left-hander was looking to drive the fuller delivery, but could only manage to mistime it away to a few metres away from the crease. Clearly, there was nothing extraordinary with the incident as we have seen batsmen mistiming their shots a zillion times in cricket. But, what happened later, was surely comical, if not extraordinary. Oh dear... The batsman in the NSW's video was seen losing his bat just like Weatherald, the only difference being that the willow missed the stumps by a whisker. But, after hitting the ball, Smith, too, lost control of his bat that eventually went on to hit the stumps. In a bizarre incident, Smith was dismissed twice - in different fashions - on the same delivery. The immensely talented actor always manages to impress us both on-screen and off it. In the last few years, we have seen Akshay working with some quality content, which talks about our history, society and various other prominent issues. While most actors from his time are either finding it difficult to keep up with modern cinema or are still not out of their cliché romantic avatar, Khiladi Kumar is soaring high in his career, experimenting with different roles. 15. A self-proclaimed Badshah fan who followed him from his 'Mafia Mundeer' days, it was only natural for me to hyper-ventilate and check the mirror twice before I entered the room where we then sat face-to-face for an editorial interview. I imagined it to be intriguing, slightly overwhelming and overtly exciting, but the moment I said a 'Hi' to him, the warmth of his smile overshadowed the air conditioning in the studio. Not many people know, but the real name of this crowned king of Bollywood's music scenes is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia. Earning a bad name A post shared by O.N.E. OUT NOW! (@badboyshah) on Aug 7, 2018 at 6:40am PDT My first question was the clichéd 'how did music happen because you were studying engineering' but his answer was anything but conventional. 'No, I was actually doing music, and then engineering happened', he laughed as he corrected my question and my perception. He explained that he was always interested in doing music and his parents were super supportive about his decision to pursue the same. My second question was something I always imagined I'd personally ask if I ever get to meet him in person. “Why did you choose the name 'Badshah'?” “I am a big SRK fan, and when I was looking for a stage name for myself, around that time the movie 'Baadshah' released and I thought why not take this name only.” I kind of guessed it but I never knew this was a fact actually! Our conversation then moved to his journey from where he began and his current state of being omnipresent in the music scene today. One might expect that he has a long struggle story to share and there is more depth to it but the king was pretty honest and blunt about it and kept it very short. “I never went to people for work. I was just making my own music and releasing it through my own label. Eventually Bollywood stood up and noticed me.” The best part of his humble journey is that he was working full time in order to invest money in his music career, no godfathers or no money flew in for this self-made star. © Instagram Talking about his biggest critics, he quipped that his sister, his immediate circle of friends and his close knit group of cousins are the first lot who hear his music first hand and give their honest inputs which he values a lot. In case you don't know, he is actually a 'Dilli wala' who lived in Pitampura and even went to St. Stephens for a month before he opted out. His favourite thing about Delhi is the food, no guesses there. My favourite part about the interview began when I asked him to share the whole ideology behind his music. I asked him how the songs are conceived and what the creative process behind it is, including the inspiration to two of my personal favourites, 'Tareefan' and 'Buzz'. “I think of myself as a journalist. I write what I see”, he quickly responded to it. So he said that he picks up the vibe from his surroundings and finds inspiration from real-life situations. Also, one might think that no party is complete without his music, so probably the rapper is a party lord himself. However, he busted the myth when he told me that he never really parties! He then went on to tell me that the lyrics in 'Buzz', the line where he starts with 'Okay, Okay Okay, Okay' is actually inspired from Kevin Hart, who he ardently follows and who uses it in some of his songs. 'Tareefan' is a love song for Badshah, not a dance song. The inspiration for this song was also very simple. He said boys get ready quickly and wait for their girl to get ready, who only wants to know how is she looking, so a guy got nothing else to do but say 'hor dass kinniyan tareefan chahida tainu'? I asked him if he has any Bollywood plans for himself and he answered with a big “yes”. A fun fact that he shared with me is that he was offered two projects already which didn't work out. He was offered 'Good News' which later went to Diljit Dosanjh and he was also offered a part in 'Lust Stories', the role which was eventually played by Vicky Kaushal. We all laughed at this new found information and he chimed in. Talking about his future plans, we then spoke about his latest album 'O.N.E' which released today. It has 17 songs but he originally wrote 30 and is super excited about it. His song 'Heartless' from the album has already created a lot of buzz (pun intended!). When I asked him what he would say to so many millennials struggling to balance between getting a degree and pursuing a passion, he had a very practical and simple message for them. “I think you just have to be very smart about it and don't be foolish. Perseverance is very important because music is very liberating. However, you need to see how it will work out, you also have to feed yourself after all. I was working twice as hard when I was earning to invest in my music career.” If there is anything you can take away from this King, then it is the fact that there is so much more to learn from him than just make good music. I hope he keeps entertaining us for the longest time! We sign off and end the interview with a smile, a picture for memory and me beaming with joy as I walk out of the studio.
  16. Ever heard the term 'Gym Bro'? If you haven't, then let me give you a brief description about this misinformed breed. A gym bro is a guy who thinks that he knows all the science of bodybuilding, nutrition and supplementation and goes on giving random advice to everybody in the gym based on his personal bro science experience. What's ironic is the fact that most of these gym bros go on to become 'gym trainers'. This is a breed that you really need to stay away from if you want to make real progress in your results. Here are 5 stupid things that almost every desi gym trainer does. 1) Performing Cardio Before Weight Training So some people out there think that if they perform cardio before their weight training, their body will burn fat during weight training. This is absolute bullshit and is even counterproductive for your goal of a lean physique or fat loss. If you perform a long session of cardiovascular exercise, your body will lose majority of its strength before you even start lifting weights. Consequently, you will lift lesser weights than what otherwise you would lift if you began your training with the weights. You should lift as much as possible irrespective of the fact that you're bulking up or cutting. Lifting lesser weights is only going to make you weak by declining your strength. So don't fall prey to this bullshit protocol. © Youtube 2) Sipping BCAA Unnecessarily Between Sets This is a very common sight in almost all the gyms these days. No matter if the guy is an absolute beginner, you will still find him sipping the flavored BCAA supplement in between the sets. I've even seen people lifting a 5-pound dumbbell and taking BCAA for recovery. Trust me guys, BCAA supplements are the most overhyped supplements out there. Your body does not need any BCAA supplementation separately if your protein intake is on point and you had a good pre-workout meal. 3) Having Protein Shakes Immediately After Workout You must've seen people rushing towards their gym bag to grab the shaker that contains their protein powder in it. They don't waste even a single minute after completing the last rep of their weight training. They are afraid that if they delayed their protein intake even by a second they might lose a few pounds of their muscles. Guys, the so-called 'Anabolic Window' is not for a couple of minutes. Studies have shown that even if you consume your whey protein up to half an hour post your workout, it will still have the same effects. So you don't really have to rush to grab that shaker. © Fitlife 4) Not Performing Basic Stretching Stretching (both pre and post workout) has an important role to play in your overall flexibility of the body. You must have seen people complaining about being sore all the time and how their body has become too stiff over the course of time. This happens due to lack of stretching exercise in the workout routine. Everybody likes the pump in the muscle but nobody cares to stretch them after that pump. This makes them stiff over time and also more susceptible towards injury. Stretching is as important as your weight training if your goal is to be fit. 5) Performing 'Fancy' Functional Moves A few of you might get butt hurt after reading this, but the concept of the term 'functional movement' has been taught to you guys incorrectly. I am sure you have this notion that performing a pistol squat on a bosu ball is a functional movement while doing a barbell curl is not, right? Well, you're absolutely wrong here. Functional training is any training that makes you more functional for doing your daily chores. I am sure that majority of your daily chores are performed on a stable surface and not on a bosu ball. This is the reason why barbell curls are more functional than pistol squats on a bosu ball; after all, you have better chances of performing a curl movement during your entire day. 17. Learning a foreign language is not an easy task. It takes a lot of time, effort and dedication to learn a new language and be fluent in it. I am sorry but asking for 'wo-tah' instead of water does not count as learning a foreign language, it's just a fake accent. Language classes were a huge deal back in school and had most of us not bunked those lessons to watch movies with our friends, we would have learned something new by now, or at least could have gotten the world talking about us, just like how they are praising this Chinese woman right now. © Twitter What can be so special or unique about a Chinese woman talking about the Great Wall of China, that people are watching the video on loop? 18. You already know how she became a Bollywood superstar from an adult actress. But do you know the story of how Karenjit became Sunny Leone? 'Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone' is a web-series released on ZEE5, which shows us the raw, unadulterated version of the life of a middle-class Indian girl who later on came to be known as Sunny Leone. Here's why we think you should definitely not miss the chance to know her life story: 1. With a career choice as controversial as hers, people didn't take too long to get offended and judgemental. The series shows us that she didn't let people's judgements deter her from her path to success. MensXP 2. Sunny talks about how she got into the porn industry in the show, and it wasn't a sob story at all. Instead, it's rather an empowering one, because the bold life-changing decision that she made, was completely her choice. MensXP 3. Like many children, she was bullied and body-shamed at school for the way she looked, but she faced her bullies with utmost confidence. MensXP 4. She talks about how her family was shocked when they learned about her choice of work, but eventually made their peace and started respecting her decision. MensXP 5. She also throws light upon how the media treated her when she became a household name in India. Remember how gracefully she answered the highly misogynistic questions asked by a sexist journalist? MensXP 6. And like she says in the trailer for the show, it's all about GUTS. Watch for yourself: Convinced now, aren't you? 19. One dilemma most men have, usually with a side of crippling anxiety and cluelessness, is whether to keep their body hair or get it shaved/waxed before ***. It's a good thing tbh, facing this dilemma, because it indicates that you intend to please your partner completely and also prioritize their most intimate preferences. The tricky thing here, however, is that there is no right or wrong here, or an 'ideal' scenario for that matter. Body hair preferences are extremely subjective, and essentially varied, because different things turn different people on. The fact that this borders on sexual fetish, makes it even more difficult. The result? A boatload of confusion, probably accompanied by a wrong, hasty move that will work against you in bed. We wanted more insight on this, and wanted it from a reliable source. So, we asked 7 women about their body hair preferences on men in bed, and honestly, it's more complicated than we thought, and now we know. Read on: 1. "It depends, really. Sometimes I like my men smooth, and sometimes I like them furry. If he has a good physique, that really doesn't matter, you know? (winks) But I have a few ground rules. Pubes must be shaved, or at least trimmed - because of, well isn't it obvious? Also, it's just a matter of personal hygiene. If he wants me to be uninhibited in bed, he must provide me a clean playing field. If there's too much growth down there, there shall not be any oral action, no sir!" - Sanchari, 27, Marketing Executive © Twitter 2. "I like hairy men. There is something extremely masculine and primal about a hairy chest and torso that always manages to turn me on. Call me sexist, but I like my men manly in bed, and a hairy body definitely helps. That feeling of caressing a muscular chest that is also covered with hair - definitely turns me on. I don't prefer a chest or a torso or arms that are super smooth, that just doesn't do it for me. A hairy man with a good physique - that's my ultimate fantasy. About pubes, a natural growth is absolutely fine, but trimming is a must down there. Also, hairy armpits are fine, as long as the hair there is not too long." - Megha, 29, Software Engineer © Twitter 3. "I like smooth bodies. Perhaps because I have a muscle fixation? A man with a body like Adonis with a smooth chest and defined, glistening abs - is what turns me on. Asking for too much? Yes. Didn't you just ask me about my fantasy? Mine is hardcore, well-maintained, hairless 'model' body that will leave me begging for more." - Nusrat, 25, Dancer © Twitter 4. "I'd say I'm pretty flexible. He should just be comfortable with the pattern of body hair he's sporting. When he's confident, and doesn't make a deal about it, that, is hot. Once I was with a guy who couldn't stop fidgeting because he'd never trimmed his body hair before and had done it just before meeting me. He had some sort of irritation going on throughout his trimmed bits, and I could feel his discomfort. That was the weirdest and most unfortunate *** ever. It would have been much better if he'd just let it be and not trimmed at all! Point to be noted: A confident man in bed, hairy or hairless, is the hottest thing ever." - Sarita, 28, HR Professional © Twitter 5. "Hairy all the way. Actually, the hairier the better. Except on his back and shoulders. I like hairy chests, and have absolutely no idea why men go and get it waxed or shaved. A hairy chest and torso is incredibly sexy! When Mother Nature has given you this gift, why not cherish it? But if someone is not naturally hairy, that's absolutely fine too. I'm just talking about my fantasy here. For example, Hugh Jackman in 'Swordfish', or a young Tom Selleck from decades ago... what I won't do for them!" - Janet, 30, Graphic Designer © Twitter 6. "I like hair in specific places, and in specific patterns. Hey, don't give me that look! I'm not saying that's a prerequisite, just how exactly I'd like my man to be in bed. A little hair on the chest, and perhaps a light treasure trail? That ends in a teensy bit of trimmed, maintained little shrubbery - if you know what I mean. When it comes to the back side, I'd like a hairless butt, but a little hair on the thighs are hot. Okay I know that's too much to ask for but it's a fantasy for sure" - Anuja, 27, Engineer © Twitter 7. " I'm all about the 'natural' look. However, that doesn't mean I want my man to sport an Amazon down there. He should trim his pubes, of course, because everyone should, irrespective of their partner's preferences. That's just hygiene. But he shouldn't be completely hairless either - I don't want to get a complex about my own salon appointments haha!" - Dharini, 24, Consultant
  20. Whether you want to accept it or not, Apple's App Store is more successful than any other digital store that sells applications and games. The platform has managed to outsell its rivals such as the Google Play store and Steam. According to a report by Sensor Tower, Apple's App Store managed to rake in $22.6 billion in worldwide gross app revenue, while the Google Play Store earned $11.8 billion. What's interesting to note is that Apple managed to generate double the revenue with half the number of downloads. © Sensor Tower Apple's iOS store has been consistently generating more revenue than its competition. In fact, when one compares numbers, historically Android users spend less on apps than iOS users. There could be a number of reasons for this, such as other Android app stores like the Samsung Store, the Amazon App Store, and others. It's obvious knowledge that there are significantly more Android smartphones in the world, but Google's Play store still managed to remain behind Apple's offering. However, one should also note that Google's Play Store is not available in China, the world's largest market for smartphones. © BCCL Last year, Apple earned $38.5 billion from the App Store while Google Play could only manage to earn $20.1 billion. Sensor Tower estimates that consumer spending has increased in 2018 by 26.8 percent on iOS, whereas it's up by 29.7 percent on Google Play. This growth in spending may have many reasons, but it can be attributed to players like Tencent Video, Netflix, and other services. App revenues have seen a huge rise thanks to subscription services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. In fact, Netflix was 2017's top non-game app by revenue. © PUBG Game spending is considered to have a huge chunk of the revenue, thanks to popular games such as PUBG, Fortnite, and others. Apple's App Store earned $16.3 billion from games alone, while Google Play earned $10.3 billion in 2017. © Sensor Tower It could be argued that Apple's platform earns more due to its presence in China, however, Sensor Tower reports that even if China is removed from the equation, the App Store would have earned a 30 percent gross revenue than Google's Play store.
