  1. The lengths Marvel and the Russo Brothers had to go to not spoil the 'Endgame' is honestly unbelievable. From not telling the actors who their character is actually fighting to just lying them about what's happening in the scene, they've done everything to stop everyone - especially Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland - from accidentally spoiling the major, most crucial parts of the movie. We've heard so many things about 'Avengers: Endgame' in that one entire year between 'Endgame' and 'Infinity War' and one of those things was that literally everyone would be together to shoot one scene. People thought it was going to be a wedding, probably Tony's wedding since he talked about it in 'Infinity War', but we were so so wrong. Well, at least we weren't the only ones who were kept in the dark and even all the actors were told they are filming a wedding scene and not Tony Stark's freaking funeral. Mark Ruffalo finally can share his thoughts about this. We're filming a wedding, they said. #TBT #AvengersEndgame pic.twitter.com/6u7PX0WZO4 — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) June 6, 2019 In Marvel's defence, I guess weddings and funerals are almost the same, just slightly different, right? Even Chris Evans joined in with all the behind-the-scenes posting and gave us more hilarious videos. 2. Mark Ruffalo and Avengers spoilers go hand in hand. I'm sorry, but he has brought the title of 'King of Spoilers' upon himself. Well, actually, he shares that with Tom Holland, to be honest. As Robert Downey Jr puts it, he is a repeat offender and has accidentally revealed so much more than he was supposed to so many times. But, it has always somehow worked in his favour, keeping him from 'getting fired' from Marvel aside. We can talk about the various occasions he let something out about these million-dollar movies - and we will, everyone wants to see Mark's greatest hits - but the biggest faux pas has to be the 'Thor: Ragnarok' incident. In case you don't remember, Mark genuinely gave out spoilers when he forgot to end his Instagram Live right as the movie started at the premiere. That was one of the best and the worst and the most hilarious things ever. He's talked about the immediate reaction to this before when some from Disney had to come and tell him to shut off his phone. Well, looks like he'll never leave it behind because even the Avengers are still talking about it. Recently, the OG Avengers and Kevin Feige sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about 'Endgame' while not actually talking about 'Endgame'. Scarlett Johansson talked about how much this press tour was stressing her out, she said, “I'm gonna have PTSD from this [press tour.] I mean, honestly, it is so stressful. At the end of every day, I lie awake at night and I think about all the things I almost said. It gives me panic.” But, obviously no one knows that stress like Mark and he made sure to tell that to everyone. At that point, RDJ called him a “repeat offender”, but Mark's been to reeducation camp now, apparently. Then the conversation drifted to Mark talking about the biggest thing he has spoiled and Ragnarok won because “that was the one that got him the call from up high.” But, Chris Hemsworth came to his defence. He said, “Wait, wait, that was actually genius! There might be some strategy there, because [the audience] laughed so hard during that [footage]. All [viewers] could hear was laughing. They went, “It must be good!” Even Mark agrees that it was some of the best unplanned promotion ever. He said, “It sort of turned around on me because when I came to work on Monday [on the set of Endgame] everyone ran up to me. I thought they were coming to scream at me — Barry, he threw his arms around me. 'That was genius! We got more press than we could have possibly paid for!'” Well, all's well that ends well? I mean, Marvel will probably still not trust Mark completely and that's understandable but it's great that he got to see a silver lining to this debacle. Good for you, Mark!
  3. The biggest movie of month/year/decade is just a few days away and all the fans are so excited and hyped up for it, and so are the actors who are a part of Avengers and MCU. Everyone's gearing up for the movie in different ways, from coming up with different theories for 'Avengers: Endgame' to basically having meltdowns about the possible deaths. And some, very important fans are making parodies and making everyone laugh, maybe because this movie will for sure kill us. Jaze Phua turned the second trailer, the one that showed Tony back on earth and joining all the surviving Avengers in that hideous new white suit. Turning it into a 'Client Expectation vs Client Budget' meme, the low-budget video is actually very hilarious. It also reminds me of a low budget version of the 'Avengers: Infinity War' trailer from last year. There are so many great funny moments, I mean, look at the recreation of the plane! Literally everything going on in this gif. How they can - and should - rebuild Asgard. What is he even doing here? The chicken and obviously another creative moment. This is the moment that killed me, the fucking Nokia phone! They're doing Nebula dirty with that blue bag. This parody was so brilliant even Mark Ruffalo had to appreciate this, and yes, I agree, so much like the original, isn't it? Struggling to see the difference between these two #AvengersEndgame trailers ð¤ Brilliant work, @jazephua! pic.twitter.com/8d22vDdf4a — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) April 8, 2019 Wholesome. 4. Robert Downey Jr does what he wants, obviously, and what he wanted to do this time was find the ultimate Marvel 'stache. Yep, the science bros are going up against their technologically backward friend and the once upon a time owner of the best pornstache. Ok this time it's real—Who wore it best, @ChrisEvans @MarkRuffalo? pic.twitter.com/EyrKGKVfem — Robert Downey Jr (@RobertDowneyJr) March 20, 2019 I'm sure Chris Evans is not happy about his pornstache making the rounds again. 5. Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of incredible movies, of course, but it is also full of even more incredible bromances. The entire cast loves each other and their off-screen friendship does translate well on-screen. I feel like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans have the most famous MCU bromance but two other actors are here to try and take the title, with a little bit Chris Hemsworth mixed in. Ever since the second trailer for 'Avengers: Endgame' dropped, everyone is talking about it and coming up with more and more theories about it. But, no one can deny that the biggest thing that stood out was Jeremy Renner's new snazzy hairstyle. Yep, Hawkeye's mohawk inspired a lot of memes and jokes online and it was all very well-deserved. I still stand by my original thought of him getting the hairstyle just because of the name. While we were coming up with more jokes, Mark Ruffalo decided to remind everyone who has the inspiration behind the mohawk. It's been 15 years since the release of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and 0 years since @renner4real stole my look ðð»‍âï¸ But I don't blame him. It's a good look. Stealing from the best. (Sorry again, @chrishemsworth. It's for a good cause.) pic.twitter.com/fngC1ddDXu — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) March 19, 2019 Yes, we don't blame him for stealing, after all Mark should be an inspiration to all of us. Are we getting another 'I see you've copied my beard scene' in Endgame? Please say yes, Marvel. Unrelated, but everyone needs to see this right now. This is what really happened hahahah pic.twitter.com/bGXxFiI0md — Gabyð¨ð± (@rockmeperfect) March 19, 2019 Coming back to Mark's tweet, actually Jeremy is not the only thief in the MCU since Mark himself recently stole something from none other that the God of Thunder. Thor's friend from work recently stole Mjölnir, for charity of course. Yes, Jeremy, we all are. Well @MarkRuffalo @chrishemsworth it appears as if we are all thieves in our own way ð https://t.co/LgyGM3Gi1z — Jeremy Renner (@Renner4Real) March 19, 2019 What are you doing with his pillow, Banner? Firstly, @MarkRuffalo if it's for charity then I'll forgive you. Secondly, you also stole my pillow...which was kinda weird. Are you auctioning that off as well or just for your personal use? https://t.co/QfpzJtKZjF — Chris Hemsworth (@chrishemsworth) March 14, 2019 Okay, Jeremy is the real culprit here. Ah @chrishemsworth I grabbed that pillow brother and a toothbrush.... but for personal use. Thanks @MarkRuffalo for the distraction ð¤ð» — Jeremy Renner (@Renner4Real) March 14, 2019
  6. Honestly, Mark Ruffalo and spoilers go hand in hand. Sorry Mark, you brought this upon yourself. Our homeboy Mark over here is the weakest link when it comes to giving out spoilers and now, it's become one of the biggest Marvel memes. Well, he did actually give out 'Avengers: Infinity War' spoilers that one time and even got fake fired by the Russo Brothers after apparently giving out more spoilers. Everyone knows how to take advantage of Mark's weakness and have a lot of fun with it. Recently, Mark Ruffalo appeared on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' where Jimmy actually hooked him up to a lie detector test as he asked questions about 'Avengers: Endgame' because otherwise he's proven that he can't be trusted. Poor Mark was already so scared and even said, “I don't want to get fired again!” After basic test questions like 'what's your name' and stuff, then came the real deal, all the Avengers-based questions. Jimmy asked if the Hulk is actually secretly a shapeshifting alien called Skrulls? Remember Skrulls? From 'Captain Marvel'? Yep. Of course, the red light indicating that he's lying lit up. Does this mean he is a Skrull? Wait. What? Next up, “Are there any hidden clues in the latest 'Avengers' trailer that no one has figured out yet?” He was lying, we need to get to work now! Next question was about the Hulk's love life. Jimmy asked, “If Bruce Banner and Black Widow finally get together romantically in the new movie?” Well, are we getting a pairing no one asked for? Now, it's time for a question that he actually answered truthfully. “Is Don Cheadle sexier than you?” Well, he got one at least. Then come the big guns. After bringing out a The Hulk action figure, Jimmy straight up asks “Do you ever play with yourself?” Umm, it's okay Mark, we understand, but what are you doing? Now, the biggest question we've had since 'Infinity War' - “Is everyone who disappeared from the snap from Thanos actually gone or is there any way they can come back?” What an exit! Here's the entire video: He even talked about how everyone thinks Noah Centineo looks like a younger version of him. Well, Noah is on board about playing his dad. Son? https://t.co/PsRgpTmB17 — Noah (@noahcent) March 14, 2019 And then, Mark had some jokes on Instagram. 7. If there has ever been a perfect owner of a football club, it has to be Paris Saint Germain's (PSG) Nasser Al-Khelaifi. The Qatar Sports Investment's president, Al-Khelaifi has left no stone unturned in order to make, what originally was an interesting and ambitious project into a successful project. What he couldn't seem to get his hands on is PSG's luck. On a night when the odds were in Les Rouge et Bleu's favour, considering the two-goal cushion from the first leg and 10 first team players injured for Manchester United, this really should've been a walk in the park, but Manchester United had other ideas in mind. United came from 2-0 first-leg deficit to beat PSG 3-1 and qualified on away goals. It was in the summer of 2017 when PSG decided to get over 'that' round-of-16 loss to Barcelona and signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the same transfer window. A real fantasy manager stuff. These latest acquisitions made the French side look strong both mentally and physically. But as is the case most of the times, fortune favours the brave and last night, it was the Red Devils who proved to be the braver one. Considering this is PSG's second 'they-cannot-lose-now' kind of loss, here are a few similar moments from the two: 1. Early Goal “It's never Mission Impossible, it's more difficult”, admitted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his press conference. He stressed a lot on scoring an early goal and then staying in the game till the very end and United did just that, scoring the first goal after two minutes courtesy of Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku's goal to make it 0-1 pic.twitter.com/23paOFjNbk — DILLINGER ð¹(@DillanMUFC) March 6, 2019 Wonder where the tactic came from? Barcelona 1 - PSG 0. After just two minutes on the clock, Luis Suarez scored from a defensive mix-up and sparked the historic comeback. 2. Weird Penalty You do need a bit of luck when you're trying to accomplish such mammoth tasks. Not taking anything away from Manchester United and Barcelona, but the penalties given against Presnel Kimpembe and Thomas Meunier were both a little bit harsh. Man United had VAR to thank for the penalty, whereas the referee consulted his assistant before giving the penalty to Barcelona which he denied initially, in 2017. Marcus Rashford's historic winning penalty is even better with Titanic music! pic.twitter.com/ZSRrScw47O — The Man Utd Way (@TheManUtdWay) March 7, 2019 3. Late Late Goal © Reuters Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was one of the major personalities in that era of 'Fergie Time'. The man, who himself knows a thing or two about late goals, saw his team score one thanks to the winning penalty from Marcus Rashford. © Reuters This time, it was Marcus Rashford and the last time, it was Barcelona's academy graduate Sergi Roberto who was found perfectly by Neymar's lofted pass and broke Parisian's hearts. 4. Historic Wins The thing both the games had in common was the 'No-One-Has-Ever-Done-That' factor. For Manchester United, no team had ever overturned a 2-0 home leg defeat in order to qualify. Whereas for Barcelona, no team had ever qualified after losing the first leg away from home 4-0. To everybody's surprise, these teams did the impossible. As for PSG, the project they have and are working on is really an enticing one. Their owner can buy anything, any player, any facility in the world. What we really want to recommend them is to buy some luck as well. As it turns out, PSG is the Tottenham of the Champions League.
  8. Mark Zuckerberg entered 2018 by making a promise of fixing Facebook. Well, we all can agree that it didn't go as planned. In fact, 2018 was the year in which Facebook was embroiled in controversies like the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Amidst all that, the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his wealth fall down by a huge margin. © Reuters Mark's net worth fell by $9 billion in 2018 and he slipped three places on the Forbes 2018 global billionaires list. (https://www.forbes.com/billionaires/#490e7b9b251c) According to Forbes, Mark's estimated net worth is $62.3 billion, down from $71 billion last year. Facebook itself lost more than a fifth of its value, as it endured data breaches and government investigations. As the CEO of Facebook, who owns nearly 17-per cent of the stock, it's not really all that surprising to see his net worth taking a dip. Mark Zuckerberg is now the eighth richest person in the world, compared to his fifth position last year. The top three spots in the list, however, remained unchanged. © Reuters Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is in the first place with an estimated net worth of $131 billion. He is followed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffet with an estimated net worth of $95.6 billion and $82.5 billion respectively. Other noteworthy names in the list include India's Mukesh Ambani and Kylie Jenner, who's now dubbed the youngest self-made billionaire.
  9. There's only one thing Mark Ruffalo is known for more than playing the character of The Hulk. Well, any guesses? It's an easy one. Giving out spoilers of course, and if you are a Marvel fan, you know how seriously Marvel and the Marvel fanbase actually takes spoilers. But, we all still love Mark, even though he f*cks up sometimes, he's like a little puppy that you can't stay mad at. Instead of showing disappointment, let's all celebrate this man and how much extra information he gives all the fans, accidentally of course. Here's us looking back at all the times Mark didn't know when to shut up - or shut off his phone - which probably landed him in hot water with Marvel and Disney. The first, and the arguably the best, Mark screw up till date has to be the Instagram live incident at the premier of 'Thor: Ragnarok'. The poor guy was just trying to do something nice for the fans by going live on Instagram but didn't realize he never ended that live. Oh, Mark. So, he ended up 'leaking' his own movie at the premier itself and over 2000 people heard the starting of the movie. Oops! He also revealed how everything went down at the theatre later on as well. Basically, his phone was blowing up with people trying to inform him he was still live but he didn't want to check his phone while watching a movie and here's when his manners shouldn't have mattered. Disney had to literally send someone to yell at Mark to turn off his phone. Then comes an 'Avengers: Infinity War' spoiler that no one even realized was a spoiler at the time. I would like to apologize for bringing up the ending of that movie but it's important. While we were aware that we would see many characters die in this movie, no one expected the list to be that long. It was impressive to see how Marvel kept this all under wraps but then an interview of Mark Ruffalo and Don Cheadle with 'Good Morning America' from last year resurfaced and became really relevant again because obviously Mark really couldn't help himself from giving out a major spoiler. Classic old Mark, tbh. Uh oh, @DonCheadle, is @MarkRuffalo going to get in trouble with @MarvelStudios now!? #InfinityWar #D23expo pic.twitter.com/WR5C1QCBTb — Good Morning America (@GMA) July 16, 2017 While talking about 'Thor: Ragnarok', “Every other Marvel movie, it doesn't end well for the superheroes.” Well, he should've stopped at that but of course, he added, “Wait till you see the next one, everybody dies.” Oh, Mark. Don's reaction probably summed up Marvel's reaction as well. And then comes the time when he was 'fired' from MCU after giving out spoilers during an interview with Jimmy Fallon. The best thing about Mark, though, is that he at least tries to cover up his mistakes and that's what he tried this time as well. But, since he doesn't think before speaking about multimillion-dollar movies, he obviously doesn't think before tweeting about it as well. .@JimmyFallon, I trust that you will cut my spoiler slip on the show tonight. That was “off the record” homey. Please don't get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again. DM me back. Guys... can we talk about this? https://t.co/PYe56UiUgO — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) October 7, 2018 In the end, I would just like to say that Mark please never stop giving us spoilers, we're all waiting for anything about 'Avengers 4'. So leak something already. Thanks.
  10. Oh, Mark, you never learn, do you? You know what's worse than heartbreak? Getting spoilers about a movie that you were so eagerly looking forward to. That shit hurts, and if it's a movie like 'Avengers', then that's the worst thing in the world, don't even fight me on that. But, looks like Mark Ruffalo is a sadist who likes to watch people suffer, or maybe he's just a little confused and doesn't know when to shut up. We all know Mark and Tom Holland's long history of accidentally spoiling so many Marvel movies, but Mark one-upped Tom by literally spoiling 'Thor: Ragnarok' by being on Instagram Live during its premiere. Oh, Mark. (yes, this will be a phrase that's repeated throughout) And how can we forget the time, when during an interview, Mark said this about 'Avengers: Infinity War' - “Wait till you see the next one, everybody dies.” Oh, Mark. Don Cheadle's face says it all. The best thing about Mark, though, is that he at least he tries to cover up his mistakes and that's what he tried to this time as well. DM me back. M — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) October 5, 2018 Yes, tweeting about your goof-up for the world to see, especially the people who can fire you. Oh, Mark. Apparently, this is the clip in question. I LOVE YOU @MarkRuffalo WITH OR WITHOUT SPOILERS #FallonTonight pic.twitter.com/ZSkPJfdp2v — ale ︽âµï¸½ (@bannerscaptain) October 6, 2018 Jimmy Fallon also decided to keep the joke going and replied with this. Dude, it's too late - already sent the final show to Burbank for air. Are you sure you're gonna be in trouble? We could maybe bleep it out. What is “DM”? https://t.co/GMds1hGO8X — jimmy fallon (@jimmyfallon) October 5, 2018 But, it was too late. The Russo brothers got to know about it before Mark could fix it, and well, now you know the reason if The Hulk does not show up in the next Avengers movie. Mark, you're fired. — Russo Brothers (@Russo_Brothers) October 6, 2018 I have one question – (Don't come at me with 'it's a joke', I know that already, thank you) Oh, Mark. Guys... can we talk about this? https://t.co/PYe56UiUgO — Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) October 7, 2018 Now, I just can't wait for Mark Ruffalo to accidentally reveal the title of the movie. Do it already, man, we're all waiting, we know you want to!
  11. Looks like 2018 so far has been a great year for Bollywood movies, money wise. There have been a bunch of hit movies and also some really terrible ones that basically sucked, but still managed to join the elite 100 Crore Club for no apparent reason. (I'm lying, I know the reason, some people prefer mediocrity over actually good movies with substance) So, here's a list of all the movies that a lot of people wanted to see and well, that worked out in the favour of the makers because, let's just say, these movies made a shit ton of money. Here's the list of Bollywood movies to cross Rs. 100 crores in 2018 so far: 1. Padmaavat I mean, after all the controversies and so much hate and riots, if this didn't do well at the box office, we all should've really been worried about the universe being broken. After its release, it became one of the fastest 100 crore earner ever by managing to earn a whopping amount of Rs. 166.50 crore within a week. It even went on to collect around 500 crores overall, and I feel like a lot of people just went to see what the hype was all about and why some people wanted to cut off Deepika Padukone's nose. 2. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety I don't think people initially expected this movie to do so well, but hey, we were all in for a pleasant surprise. The movie ended up crossing the 100 crore mark within a month of its release. 3. Raid Ajay Devgn's 'Raid' has a lifetime collection of Rs. 103.07 crore at the box office so it just tipped over and its way into the club. 4. Baaghi 2 People love Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani for their respective talents, but they love them, even more, when they're together, so this movie was destined to do well from the beginning as it seems. By being a truly entertaining movie, it managed to collect about Rs. 164.38 crore. 5. Raazi Everyone loves Alia Bhatt and everyone loves Vicky Kaushal, and when you add a kickass storyline with some stellar acting, the movie honestly starts selling itself. The movie ended up getting great reviews and joined the Rs. 100 crore club in less than a month. 6. Sanju This one shouldn't really surprise anyone, to be honest, since 'Sanju' is like the movie of the year. The movie was watched by people who love Bollywood, and also by those who don't, but it was applauded equally by everyone. The movie has not only earned more than Rs.100 crores, it has also made its way into the top 10 highest grossing Indian movies, not just Bollywood movies. 7. Race 3 Now, this one doesn't surprise me, but it disappoints me immensely. But, what can you do, people can't help but watch Salman Khan movies, apparently. The movie has reportedly earned more than Rs.166 crores at the Box Office and mediocrity won! 8. Stree Another surprise hit, but we all know how great of an actor Rajkummar Rao is and his movies deserve at least one watch. The movie ended up crossing the Rs.100 crore mark within three weeks after some great reviews. 9. Gold Of course, the list wouldn't have been complete without Akshay Kumar and he literally struck gold with 'Gold'. The movie has a total collection of over Rs. 105 crores. 10. Veere Di Wedding I don't think people liked the movie that much, but with such a huge star cast, everyone was curious about it and well, it paid off. The movie has reportedly earned over Rs. 138.80 crores.
  12. Almost four years ago, 14-year-old Prithvi Shaw sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity after scoring 546 runs off 330 balls - an innings that contained 85 fours and five sixes - for his school Rizvi Springfield in Mumbai's famed Harris Shield tournament. Playing as an opener, his strokeplay and footwork had many calling him a prodigy and then his mammoth innings in 2013 - highest score in school cricket back then - proved that there was something special about this kid. His rapid strides in the sport saw him earning a spot in India's U-19 side. And, in November 2016, Shaw had his first taste of glory in Indian colours as part of the India U-19 team that won the youth Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. But, despite some impressive performances, not many were convinced about the youngster owing to his inexperience and tender age. And, that's exactly why Mumbai chief selector Milind Rege consulted Rahul Dravid - the India U-19 and India A coach - before drafting Shaw into the Mumbai squad for the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu. Handed a debut in Ranji Trophy, Shaw, playing as an opener, repaid the faith of Rege and Dravid by slamming a second-innings that paved way for Mumbai's emphatic victory in the crucial tie. © BCCL If his Ranji performance established him in the domestic circuit, Shaw's sensational debut in the 2017-18 Duleep Trophy earned him comparisons with great Sachin Tendulkar. Playing in his maiden Duleep Trophy game, the right-hander, at the age of 17, smashed a brilliant hundred for 'India Red' in the final to become the youngest player to score a debut ton in the tournament. The record was previously held by Tendulkar who scored 159 runs against East Zone on debut in the 1990-91 Duleep Trophy season. For a cricketer his age, Shaw didn't just capitalise on the opportunities he got, but his performances were so convincing that it opened new doors for his rise in the sport. Good domestic performances bore fruit as Shaw was named the captain of India U-19 squad for the 2018 World Cup - a tournament that would further enhance his reputation as one of cricket's most exciting young prospect internationally. Leading from the front, Shaw gave his young team crucial starts with consistent performances at the top. He continued to pile on runs as an opener and gave almost all the opposition bowlers a hard time. His cheap dismissal (29 runs) in the final against Australia might not do justice to his brilliant campaign, but the fact that he amassed 261 runs at 65.25 in the tournament - most by an Indian captain in the history of U-19 World Cup, proves his consistency with the willow. © BCCL If his artistry with the bat made everyone take notice of him, Shaw's leadership skills further bolstered his resume as Team India material. Under his tutelage, India romped to the ICC U-19 World Cup title for the fourth time in tournament's history. The young Indian team was so dominant that they remained unbeaten in the tourney and their smallest margin of victory was the eight-wicket win over Australia in the final. Turning heads with his majestic strokes and sharp decisions as captain, this was the time when cricket experts across the globe got a first-hand experience of young Shaw on the international stage. Seeing him in action, many were awed by his cricketing abilities and Ian Bishop, who was commentating, even went on to say: "That is Tendulkar". After joining the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand as India's U19 World Cup-winning captains, there was no surprise to see to Shaw attracting huge interests from the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. After a closely-fought battle at the 2018 IPL auctions, Shaw was eventually roped in by Delhi Daredevils (DD) who shelled out a staggering Rs 1.2 crore - six times his base price - to secure his services. © BCCL Despite getting limited opportunities, Shaw didn't disappoint Delhi in the IPL. In the nine games he played, the right-hander scored 245 runs at an average of 27.22 and an impressive strike-rate of 153.12 to live up to his price tag. While Delhi endured yet another embarrassing IPL season, Shaw continued to rise through the ranks. He was roped in for the India A squad that travelled to England earlier in July. Despite his batting prowess, many doubted Shaw's ability to deliver the goods in the tough English conditions. But, contrary to popular perception, Shaw's performances - despite being overshadowed by the FIFA World Cup - was hard to overlook. He slammed a gritty 62 against England A in the first unofficial Test at Worcester and then followed it up with a brilliant second-innings 188 against West Indies A at Beckenham. In the match against West Indies A at Northampton, Shaw hammered his way to another hundred in India A's 203-run win. And, earlier this month, he slammed 136 against England A where he added 277 for the first wicket with Mayank Agarwal. © AP His dominant display in hostile conditions instigated the national selection panel - led by MSK Prasad - to consult Dravid before drafting his pupil in India's squad for the remaining two Tests against England. The rapid rise of Shaw eventually came down to the point where the youngster's dream of representing the senior Indian team was finally going to come true. And, it couldn't have come at a better time. The Indian cricket team, for long, has been seen using the likes of Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul as openers in the longest format. But, their inability to find opening options other than the famous trio became a noticeable flaw in the first two Tests. While Dhawan and Rahul showcased better application and intent at Trent Bridge, India will still fancy the cushion of an extra opening option - a cover that could very convincingly be filled by Shaw. The inclusion of Shaw in the Test side will not only aid Indian cricket in the long run, but it will also give the youngster a well-deserved opportunity to learn and grow as a cricketer. Though it'll be really great to see him in the playing XI, but even if he doesn't get the game time, the time spent with Indian cricket bigwigs will surely do good for the growth of a young and rising cricketer like Shaw. For a 14-year-old kid who was shy talking to the media after his historic Harris Shield outing, Shaw has capitalised on every opportunity, learned with every mistake and worked hard to rise through the ranks to eventually share the Indian dressing room with the country's most-beloved cricketer and world's best batsman Virat Kohli.
  13. The 90s era was possibly one of the best times to grow up in and Milind Soman was unarguably one of the reasons for us not having a dull or boring childhood. While, most of us french fries- and soda-consuming folks get exhausted and start huffing and puffing after a 15 minute workout at 25, Milind Soman is giving major fitness goals to people even at 52. © Instagram And Milind Soman once again proved why he is hailed as the 'Ironman of India', with his interesting way of celebrating Independence Day. While most of have differing perceptions and opinion about freedom, Milind Soman introduced us to a new kind of freedom - to live in a healthy way and to promote this message, he ran 72 km in Delhi to mark the 72 years of Independence. © Instagram Milind told The Times of India, “People mark August 15 in their own way. I thought, why not celebrate it in a way that would make people fitter? To me, running is the best way to do that.” He took off from Lodhi Gardens in the morning at 6:30 AM and finished at India Gate in the evening around 4:30 PM. Reportedly, this run was organised by United Sisters Foundation to promote the sixth edition of Bajaj Electricals Pinkathon Delhi. “I would like to wish fellow Indians on India's 72nd Independence Day and urge people to take their health and fitness seriously,” he said. © Instagram He further added, “Running 72 km is not just to celebrate our Independence Day but also to promote the message of exercising our freedom to live in a healthy way by making the right choices of spending 30-40 minutes daily on self, clean eating, being active and challenging your physical and mental abilities to lead a fit life.” © Instagram Milind Soman belongs to that section of society for whom no matter how old they grow, we'll always say 'Age is just a number for them'. And Milind said the same thing, “Age should not be a limiting factor. We want large number of people especially women to take up running and adopt fitness in their way of life.” Milind's wife Ankita Konwar and mother Usha Soman too celebrated 15th August by completing 50 km in Mumbai Ultra marathon.
  14. Facebook's stocks have taken a massive beating after the company announced its second quarter financial results. The stock plunged more than 20 percent in a day, reducing the company's market value by an astounding US$ 150 billion. After counting CEO Mark Zuckerberg's stake in the company, his fortune has tumbled by US$ 16.8 billion. According to Bloomberg Billionaire Index, he has slid from the third to now the sixth position as the world's richest person, leaving his net worth at US$ 70 billion. © Bloomberg Facebook has been at the center of multiple scandals in the last few months and these controversies are now reflecting in the company's balance sheet. The core problem, Facebook just cannot grow anymore. The company announced it has 1.47 billion active users as of June while analysts were expecting the figure to be 1.48 billion. In U.S.A and Canada, the company has 185 million users and 279 million in Europe. While these figures are positive, this is the first time Facebook that has missed analysts expectations since 2015. The growth has reached a stagnation point, that there are hardly any more users left who haven't joined the platform. Facebook has expanded its reach via the acquisition of Instagram and WhatsApp, but the two are yet to actually make enough money that can further help the company fly higher. © Reuters Revenue has also increased by 4 percent to US$ 13.2 billion in the quarter. The number of monthly users worldwide grew 11 percent to 2.23 billion. Currently, the company is going through harsh scrutiny regarding data-privacy and the recent application of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in the E.U, has prompted Facebook to change its privacy terms and sign-up process, leading a minority of users to opt for non-personalized ads. Users now have more control over their data and can choose to share lesser data with Facebook. This, in turn, means, Facebook cannot easily target ads from advertisers, thus generating lower revenue. While GDPR's effect is yet to be seen on the company's finances, political issues have erupted in its home country since the 2016 American Presidential elections. © Reuters Facebook was at the center of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, wherein data of more than 50 million users was accessed by the third party without consent. The data was then used to target politically charged agenda to the users. While the company has since then paused political ads and rolled out a system to verify identities, the definition of the category "political" is still vague. The controversy has massively maligned the company's image and now, it is slowly evident that it will have a lasting effect on Facebook and its financials.
