  1. If you're a Game of Thrones fan and are still bitter about how things ended in the final season, there's a 'Stark' ray of hope for you guys. Yes, it's been a while since the series ended but taking personal offence on how one of the best Tele series ended is absolutely fair, we think. A petition was doing the rounds after the season ended to remake the series but this piece of information we're about to give you has nothing to do with the petition, per se. In an interview with a German newspaper called Welt, the author of the books George RR Martin said that the television ending isn't the full story and that he is yet to give a befitting ending to it. How's that to lift your weekend blues? Martin shed light on how he would like to finish his two books in the series he's been writing since the 1970s- The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring and eventually give the series the true ending it deserves. Well, we're actually glad Martin is finally finishing his long-lasting project as well. © HBO "People know an endingâbut not the ending. The makers of the TV show had overtaken me, which I didn't expect." Martin surprisingly revealed. Although to our disappointment he didn't reveal how the series would eventually end, but he did say season eight was ânot completely faithful,â and we absolutely agree! Season eight was a bit rushed with the character arcs that took years to develop only to miserably fail at delivering their real stories and eventual ends. In fact, in a post on his blog after the Game of Thrones finale aired, Martin wrote about his intentions to conclude character journeys that the show wasnât able to address. âI am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had six hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before Iâm done⦠and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, Iâll add them. And of course, the butterfly effect will be at work as well; those of you who follow this Not A Blog will know that Iâve been talking about that since season one. There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books⦠so if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet. And yes, there will be unicorns⦠of a sortâ¦â © Twitter Working on the books and finishing them without the pressure of the television series airing at the same time might actually be a big relief for a writer and he can focus more on the real plot lines and the eventual twists each character goes through in the story. According to him, the show completely outpaced him and as he struggled to work through the oppressive nature and pressure of writing these books when the show was in the making. "Every day I sat down to write and even if I had a good day - and a good day for me is three or four pages - I'd feel terrible because I'd be thinking: 'My God, I have to finish the book. I've only written four pages when I should have written 40. But having the show finish is freeing because I'm at my own pace now. I have good days and I have bad days and the stress is far less, although it's still there." Martin said. © Twitter While you will definitely get to read the books, Martin has confirmed that the long-awaited Game of Thrones movies is not in the pipeline anymore and you can thank HBO for that. "At this point in time, it wouldnât be for me to decide, because HBO controls the film rights for Game of Thrones. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss actually wanted to end the saga after the seventh season with three big movies⦠The executives said, 'We produce TV shows, we are not in the cinema business" Martin added. © Twitter So, there you go. Finally, a closure to all the die-hard GoT fans who probably have unanswered questions, which in all probability, will be answered in Martin's upcoming books, finally! View the full article
  2. Martin Scorsese recently faced strong backlash for taking a jibe at Marvel movies. "The Departed" director found himself in trouble when he went on to say that superhero movies were "not cinema". Todd Phillips, the director of Joaquin Phoenix starrer Joker, agrees to what Scorcese said. According to AceShowbiz, the director said he accepts Scorsese was making a fair point. The director, however, fell short of explaining whether he fully agrees to what Scorsese said. He was speaking at The Hollywood Reporter's directors roundtable chat. "Marty got a lot of heat for that (what he said), but I understand it fully. We were struggling to get 'Joker' made, which sounds funny because it exists in the superhero world, but it's really not one of those movies." "We spent a year at Warner Bros., and I saw emails back and forth, literally, where they said, 'Does he realise we sell Joker pyjamas at Target?' I go, 'Didn't movies come first and pyjamas come second? Are the pyjamas dictating the movies?' Theme park rides. Pyjamas. Slurpee cups. Whatever it is that you are selling off the back of movies, you can't make your decisions based on that." Martin Scorsese, who was also present on the occasion said: "I remember when Disneyland was built... and one of the aspirations of the studios was to become as important to American culture as Disneyland. And the first studio to really do that was Universal with the (studio) tour. And then you add the blockbuster on top of that - and why not? People go to the movie. Enjoy it. That sort of thing." "So the sense of a theme park has always been there. It's not bad. We used to love to go to amusement parks. But now in an amusement park, you have the film."
  3. While the hype of The Irishman hasn?t settled, rumours have been confirmed that Martin Scorsese is planning for another masterpiece, starring Robert Di Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, loosely based upon the non-fiction 'Killers of the Flower Moon',...

  5. With less than 48 hours left for the finale of probably one of the most-watched TV shows in history, 'Game Of Thrones', a lot of fans are waiting with bated breath to see how it all comes to an end, however, the drama revolving around the gloomy dullness throughout this season seems to be like a looming threat for the final episode, and people are genuinely concerned. Multiple theories, many deaths and even a petition to remake the final season has been the mood throughout this month. But it seems like we are not alone in grieving over this disappointment, as the writer of the original book series himself, George RR Martin, also expressed that he wasn't too happy with how the show is ending. Twitter “The series has been… not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons. You know, it's complex. I'm a little sad, actually. I wish we had a few more seasons. It can also be… traumatic. Because sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don't match, and you get the famous creative differences thing — that leads to a lot of conflict. You get totally extraneous things like the studio or the network weighing in, and they have some particular thing that has nothing to do with the story, but relates to 'well, this character has a very high Q Rating so let's give him a lot more stuff to do”, Martin said in an interview. The cast and crew were also a tad bit upset over some characters being killed off. The actor who plays Varys, Conleth Hill, expressed his dismay on how his character met his end. “I took it very personally. I took it as a person, not as an actor or an artist. I understood the reactions of previous actors who had been in the same position a lot more than I did at the time. You can't help feeling that you failed in some way, that you haven't lived up to some expectation that you didn't know about,” he said. HBO Well, love it or hate it, the ending is sealed and we shall witness the action the coming Monday morning.
  6. Coldplay's Chris Martin not only brought the whole house down with his rocking performance at Akash & Shloka's pre-wedding bash, but he also spent most of his time chilling out with Bollywood celebrities in Switzerland and thanks to Gauri Khan, we got a glimpse of the same. Gauri recently posted a picture on her social media, where she is seen posing with Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Chris Martin, and Natasha Poonawala. She wrote the caption, "A huddle with Chris Martin." 8. Remember Ricky Martin? Of course you do. We all danced our birthday parties away to songs like 'Livin' La Vida Loca' and 'She bangs' in our childhood - irrespective of how age-inappropriate some of them might be for kids, we now realize. However, those days, we were too innocent to read between the lines, and everyone just enjoyed the music. Especially when it comes to Ricky, his music had the inherent ability to make everyone groove to the rhythm, irrespective of the language barriers at times (remember 'Maria'?) Ricky was keeping a low profile for the longest time in between, till he came to the forefront again with 'American Crime Story - The Assassination Of Gianni Versace'. Before that, he was enjoying fatherhood, and some quality time with his super adorable family. 9. 2018 ended on a horrible note for the former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin, who battled against time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition following a road accident on 28th December and was put on a ventilator as his family felt severely short of money to continue with the expensive treatment. At that time, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) sanctioned an aide worth Rs 5 Lakh out of the Benevolent Fund whilst former skipper Sourav Ganguly also showed his support. However, the greatest gesture was shown by cricketer Krunal Pandya who gave a blank cheque to Sanjay Patel, the former secretary of the BCCI and the Baroda Cricket Association while reportedly saying, “Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh". With the good wishes of the fans of the cricketer and those of Indian cricket, Martin was successfully discharged from the ICU after spending almost a month under 'critical' status. Having said that, a pair of ruptured lungs and a failing liver takes a lot of care and treatment to get over. When the injuries are so grave, the rate at which the cash flows can reduce the wealthiest of families to mediocrity. In such testing times, former Indian opener KL Rahul emerged as the knight in the shining armour who reportedly made the biggest individual donation to the Martin family. Jacob's wife while having confirmed receiving the funds from the batsman refused to reveal the exact amount on the request of Rahul himself but Mumbai Mirror confirms that Rahul's hefty donation was the greatest made by anyone. “A big thanks to Rahul and everyone who has helped,” an emotional Jacob Martin expressed to the newspaper as the cricketers of the past and the present have come together to stand by the ailing athlete. Ever since India's Test series against Australia, KL Rahul has found himself to be off in his form before getting suspended for being a part of a controversial episode of a chat show alongside teammate and best-buddy Hardik Pandya. It can be excruciatingly difficult for an athlete to life through a stint of bad form with the public constantly hating on them for their deeds beyond the field and for Rahul to show up for a cause so noble right now, says a million things about how good the cricketer is at heart.
  10. Being a part of a family can have different meanings to different people. When you are living the life of a soldier, the unit is your family. Similarly, when you live the life of a sportsperson who is playing for the nation, then your team becomes your family. And that remains even after you retire from the sport. Jacob Martin, a former Indian cricketer from Baroda witnessed the support of his extended cricket family when he required money for his operation. Martin suffered a major accident earlier in January that caused severe damages to his lungs and liver. Now, in a positive development, the 46-year-old has been released from the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) after spending almost a month there. Moreover, the Vadodara star is now out of danger and has also resumed speaking. © Twitter Earlier, several names from the cricket fraternity had come out to help Martin, who has played 10 One-Day Internationals matches for India and has also guided Baroda to a Ranji Trophy victory. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was one of the first cricketers to come to Martin's aid and transferred funds into his bank account. Later, Krunal Pandya, the Mumbai Indians lad who is currently playing in the India A squad, wrote out a blank cheque, which said: "Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh." Other than the BCCI, the BCA and other cricketers such as Munaf Patel, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and even Kiran More came forward to help the Ex-Baroda captain. However, dark clouds still hover over Martin's family, as his wife Khyati has mentioned that despite receiving financial assistance from several sources, she would still need more money in the coming days. Till now, Martin received Rs 16 lakh out of which almost Rs.15 lakh has been spent so far in hospital expenses. It's heartwarming to see the cricket fraternity coming forward to help one of their own, and we hope that contributions keep coming in so that Jacob Martin can get back on his feet soon.
  11. Earlier this month, Hardik Pandya stirred up a massive storm after his objectionable remarks on the popular chat show 'Koffee With Karan' attracted a lot of criticism. He was sexist, misogynist in his comments while objectifying women on national television. The nation-wide uproar also saw Hardik getting suspended, pending an inquiry into the controversy. But, while the questionable demeanour of Hardik made him 'Public Enemy No. 1', the latest gesture by his elder brother Krunal has struck a chord with cricket fans across the country. Former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin continues to battle for his life in a Vadodara hospital. Martin sustained life-threatening injuries following a road accident on 28th December. Currently, on a ventilator, Martin has found himself in immediate need for financial support in a bid to recuperate with his injuries to lungs and liver. © Twitter While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sanctioned an amount of Rs 5 lakh from the Benevolent Fund, Sourav Ganguly, too, stepped up to help the former Indian player. And now, Krunal has joined the drive to help Martin with financial aid. In what was arguably one of the sweetest gestures you'd see, Krunal has handed a blank cheque to Sanjay Patel, former secretary of the BCCI and the Baroda Cricket Association. He reportedly told Patel: "Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh". Krunal's heartfelt gesture saw the cricket fans singing his praise on the social media. Ironically, the fans who were busy bashing the younger Pandya not a long time ago were seen praising the elder one for his good deed. There are good people still in this World. 12. With many companies already flirting with the idea of developing self-driving/ self-flying cars, Aston Martin is the latest luxury car maker who has expressed interest in the concept. The company unveiled its plans to create a personal autonomous flying vehicle and bestowed the name “Volante Vision Concept.” © Aston Martin The concept car's design will probably get debuted at the Farnborough Air Show later this month and we can't wait to see it in real life. Much like other flying cars/vehicles, the Volante Vision will take off and land vertically. It will have a hybrid-electric powertrain and will be outfitted with multiple propellers. It will have a have a horizontal turbo-pop at the back and two pairs of propellers at the front so that the vehicle can tilt and rotate. © Aston Martin Aston Martin, as a company, is known for its supercars and luxury, and we can expect the company to incorporate some of those luxurious features into the Volante Vision. The flying vehicle will have autonomous navigation and every information will be displayed onto the glass cockpit. The Volante Vision will be crafted to serve the company's existing clientele, that is in search of a flying car with a luxurious touch. © Aston Martin The company is working with partners on the concept car with aviation experts, including Rolls-Royce. And in another attempt to be as unique as possible, Kris has made an announcement that has taken aback the world by the sheer insanity of it. He is now getting his hands on an Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, out of the 150 that will be made. Apparently, the car has been priced at $3.2 million (Rs 20 crore) and will be customised to the needs of each customer. With the upcoming changes to regulations, this is not just the Greatest of all Time, this is the Greatest that will Ever Be. The Aston Martin & RedBull Racing Valkyrie. ð ð¬ð§ð If you don't get it yet, don't worry. So, when Kris got the opportunity to get it customised and basically get anything and everything done, he decided to go the extra AF way. He will now get his yet-to-be-delivered car painted with real moon dust. No, moon dust is not a specific colour. We mean ACTUAL moon dust, straight from the moon. Don't believe us? Have a look at what he posted: BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!! My visit to Aston Martin was very inspiring. A few weeks ago @milesnurnberger had commented to me that a spec we were discussing reminded him of a Space Ship. I immediately responded, “The Valkyrie makes a Space Ship look like a Car!” ðð That got me thinking... How do I raise the bar of my spec to be worthy of Valkyrie level? ð¤ If ever there was a machine that could grip the ground and rip around the craters of the Moon like it's on rails, it would be the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Unfortunately, science won't allow me to be the first person to drive on the Moon (gravity is still an issue, they say), but nothing is stopping me from bringing the Moon to my Valkyrie!! ð I have sourced, gotten proper verification, and purchased an actual Rock from the Moon which will be ground to dust and used as a key ingredient in Karosserie Lunar Red which will be the color of my Aston Martin Valkyrie. This will be the first car ever to feature a paint formula that includes actual ingredients from #SPACE !!! Thank You to everyone at @astonmartinlagonda, @redbullracing and Karosserie in Wayne, PA. More renderings will be released in the coming weeks and months. We will also document and share some of the process of making actual Moon Rock part of this very special color being developed exclusively for the most special car of my lifetime: The Aston Martin Valkyrie. ðð½ð Thanks to ð@marcovanoverbeekeð for helping refine my spec and providing me with renderings and thanks to ð @capitolsunsetð for setting the mood of the image on the Moon. That would make it the first car in the world to have a paint formula with ingredients from space. And just when we thought he must be kidding, he further mentioned that he will document the whole process in the coming months. If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly! ð»ð¨ðð The Karosserie Lunar Red color for my Aston Martin Valkyrie is coming together!!! Jamie at Karosserie came up with the brilliant idea! As a starting point, Karosserie will match the iconic Red found on Christian Louboutin's “Red bottom heels” as the base color before working the moon dust into the formula. Fret not Ladies and Gents - No shoes will be harmed in making this color. ððð âï¸ Why this post? It's a harmless joke. @sparky18888 zoom in for the payoff. ð A post shared by Kris Singh (@lamborghiniks) on Feb 3, 2018 at 4:12pm PST While he has clearly mentioned that he won't be discussing about his source or the cost of the moon rock, it didn't stop Jalopnik (https://jalopnik.com/some-guy-is-planning-to-paint-his-aston-martin-valkyrie-1822881863 ) from doing their own calculations after considering multiple factors. Bottom line being that the moon rock would cost him somewhere around $4 million (approx. Rs. 25 crores) which is more than the cost of the hypercar itself. However, it needs to be noted that the cost calculated is of the rocks acquired on an Apollo mission. If Singh's source is something else, it is likely to cost him less. But whatever, it's his money so he can spend it any which way he likes. As for us, we are desperately waiting for his documentation of the whole process (assuming he does undertake it).
  15. We don't see Bond driving around in this Aston Martin but that doesn't take the shine off the all new Vantage in any way. In fact, the Vantage is very refreshing, revealed in this bright lemon zest paint job, perhaps a tad too bright for a luxury vehicle, fatally attractive nonetheless. Check it out: Source: Aston-Martin The Vantage has been a consistent performer since its advent in 2005 and its fresh out the oven 2019 render maintains that spirit and essence, even if in a "lim(e)inal" avatar (purists don't be disheartened it's very much available in the conservative steel grey variants). It is the same hand-crafted, two-door, two-seater coupe that promises performance with comfort in an understated, stylish manner. Source: Aston Martin One of the most striking features of the vehicle will have to be the change in the iconic radiator grill. The grille has been a defining feature of most Aston Martin cars for decades and we noticed that it's been pushed lower down the nose. If you look closely, the fascia of the car looks like a gaping mouth with Buddha-esque eyes for headlamps, we've got to say it's rather comforting. Source: Aston Martin Got you to look again, didn't it! Under the hood you'll find a Mercedes made 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 mill pumping 503hp. This gives the Vantage the capability of sprinting from 0-100kmph in about 3.6 seconds. Agreeably, that's not much when we have alien quick cars like the Tesla Roadster doing that in just 1.9 seconds or even less, but we are reasonable with our expectations from an entry level Aston Martin that's priced $50,000 less than the Roadster. At $150,000 the luxury whip is still one to appease. Source: Aston Martin Many say that the Vantage has a deeper lure than the DB11, we don't disagree with them for the simple reason that the revamp has the car looking like a million bucks on wheels and the DB11, no matter how gorgeous, is so 2016. If the Vantage is going to be seen on the roads in late 2018 and early 2019, it's got to look new-age and captivating. Well, it surely captured our attention and the lemon zest has grown on us in the last 15 minutes. It's going to be a heart breaker for sure. Source: Aston Martin One last thing before we leave you to drool over the car, here's a not so subtle dig at the Porsche and Jaguar that Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Officer, Andy Palmer, couldn't help but make, he's quoting Top Gear, of course, not his words. Still gave us the tickles... "......it's taut, exciting and exotic in a way a 911 doesn't want to be and an F-Type can't be". https://t.co/E8nOVn3yXq — Andy Palmer (@AndyatAston) November 21, 2017

  18. If Porsche could unveil an uber fancy superyacht, why should Aston Martin be left behind? But it isn't a superyacht they designed, they came up with a spectacular vehicle that most spy-fi sci-fi lovers would covet-- we'll spell it out for you, it's a luxury S-U-B-M-A-R-I-N-E. Needless to say, Aston Martin's fantastic new creation, under the alias "Project Neptune" and in collaboration with luxury submersibles major Triton Submarines, is going to be in the news for a while now. © Tritonsubs Mind you, the Aston Martin submarine that looks like it's been inspired by a massive two-pin fuse from the future, is actually limited edition and comes with an obviously ridiculous price tag of $4 million or Rs. 26.8 crore, which is surprisingly still cheaper than the last LaFerrari Aperta 2017 that was auctioned for $10 million or Rs. 65.5 crores. © Aston Martin Facebook Okay, we've been a critical about the design, to a Star Wars fan, it would immediately be reminiscent of the legendary Millennium Falcon. That's the only reason why it made sense to call the assignment, Project Neptune, why else would they name a submersible after a planet. Don't you think Atlantis would've been more appropriate? But there is another design that makes it look like a giant steam iron from the 80's. We're confused... or is Aston Martin confused? According to a report, the Aston Martin Valkyrie hyper car project has been a strong source of inspiration in the design of the submarine, and for those of you who haven't seen the Valkyrie, it is nothing short of a Batmobile you'd fancy for yourself. Take a look at it here. Regardless of what the initial iterations look like, we sure expect a stellar water beast from the makers of the breathtaking DB11. Aston Martin has projected deliveries for 2018 so it's only a matter of months before we could see these vehicles in action, that is of course if its select owners make a show of it. © Youtube Eon Productions Could you expect it to be Q's next gift to double-oh seven in forth coming Bond movies? Sure, why not, considering Aston Martin cars have made some of the choicest Bond vehicles in the past, a submarine could be a fascinating addition. Besides, they've already experimented with submersibles in the past, the future looks bright, water wise.
  19. Thank God for the competition within the Indian music festival circuit at the moment; if it wasn't for the competition to gauge audiences' attention and wallets, we'd never have the likes of international star performers gracing our country's many, many musical stages. The latest to join the bandwagon is one of the most underrated, yet most looked forward to music festivals happening in Goa later this year. The Time Out 72 Music Fest is the multi-genre music festival you didn't know you needed till you looked at the stellar lineup. Pexels Jason Derulo Billboard Martin Garrix Beatport Enough said, already. While this clearly won't be the first time in the country for Garrix, Derulo will be making his Indian debut with Time Out 72 and to say the least, we're all excited. What can we say about Jason Derulo, really? He's smokin' and can give literally any guy a run for his identity. He's got a voice that can charm a woman's pants off and if you don't believe me, put it to test. He's smooth as butter—while dancing and while just sitting there looking the way that he looks. I mean, how does this guy do it, really? Oh, and he's not Chris Brown. Andre Harry Those of you heading out to Goa this December clearly have an itinerary to plan around these two guys at the Time Out 72 music festival. The Vagator Beach in Goa will never have been more desirable a destination! The music festivals in India seem to be at a tussle with each other—on a rampage to see which out does which. And while that's all a lot of work for the festival organizers, for the audiences, the only battle ensues on which festivals to attend, how many days off to apply for and how much of the savings is going to be blown up. Yeah, it's a true story in the life of every Indian millennial with a constant fear of missing out. Pexels But, as would be the case, no one's complaining. In fact, I say, bring it on! We're waiting on pins and needles for the rest of the lineup to be revealed for Time Out 72 in Goa; my tickets are already booked. In case you need to book yours, you can wait for 18th September for the early bird tickets to go on sale; in the meantime, book your Goa flight tickets. They ain't gonna book themselves!
  20. So you think you're the biggest 'Game Of Thrones' fan alive? Think again because you're yet to meet the folks who weaken the threshold of fandom altogether! Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson are hardcore 'Game of Thrones' devotees and they know enough and more for even Mr. Martin to consult them regarding ‘A Song of Ice and Fire' from time to time. They have a dedicated website for the series called westeros.org which is the largest online database for anything factual related to 'A Song of Ice and Fire'. The couple is a great mix of American and Swede and they met online, on a role-playing game based on Tolkein's Middle Earth. There was no looking back after that. Their love for everything fictional and epic grew from there and soon after discovering Martin's 'Game of Thrones'; they decided to create their own role-playing game out of that. Soon, their knowledge on the literature grew enough and more to create westeros.org, with Martin's permission obviously, and now the website itself has an ardent fan following. After meeting Martin in 2004, they started assisting him in finishing his book and being consultants for the TV show as well. How's that for some on point knowledge on one of the most intelligent shows to have ever hit our screens! © vulture Garcia and Antonsson aren't your regular stereotypical fans, really. You won't find them in costumes or props parading around, showing off their love for the series but they have incorporated the literature into their lives beautifully for the past 15 years. Their love for role-playing and including little things from the book, into their lives is very endearing and evident. Even their boxer puppy plays the role of a direwolf! After the overwhelming response by the public, George thought he could use a few helping hands that could help him maintain the popularity of his work. That's when Garcia and Linda came on board to help him with the writing of ‘The World of Ice and Fire'. © Twitter Westeros is a mind-blowing rendition of George Martins works and it helps every 'Game of Thrones' fan connect with the character fervently. The site includes a detailed analysis of each character and it gives fans a forum to predict and speculate the future of the seven kingdoms. The show creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss actually consulted westeros.org (westeros.org) before casting Jason Mamoa and Charles Dance as Khal Drogo and Tywin Lannister, respectively. We would love to meet this extraordinary fan couple who have dedicated their life to form a tangible thread for all GoT fans out there.
  21. Pictures of ‘Game Of Thrones' author George RR Martin from his younger days have surfaced and are making fans go crazy. Rest assured Snow is not gonna die anytime soon. While of course the resemblance is a coincidence – the books were written way before the show and way before Kit Harrington was signed on for the role of Jon Snow. But perhaps some casting director or produce had a clever sense of humour? We can only guess!
  22. Former drug company executive Martin Shkreli exits US District Court after being convicted of securities fraud, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, US, August 4, 2017. REUTERS/Carlo Allegri NEW YORK: Martin Shkreli ? once dubbed "The Most Hated Man in America" ? was convicted of fraud by jurors in a US court in Brooklyn on Friday, in a blow for the controversial former drug company and hedge fund executive, who had forcefully and repeatedly proclaimed his innocence. Jurors found Shkreli guilty of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy but acquitted him of five other conspiracy counts he had faced. Federal prosecutors had accused the 34-year-old of defrauding investors in his hedge funds and stealing from Retrophin Inc ? his old drug company ? to pay them back. The verdict in US District Court in Brooklyn came on the fifth day of deliberations, which followed a month-long trial. Shkreli showed little emotion as the verdict was read, but outside the courthouse portrayed it as a victory, though he could face up to 20 years in prison for securities fraud. 'Lies upon lies' Wrapping up their month-long case, government prosecutors had told jurors the evidence against Shkreli was overwhelming, arguing that he told "lies upon lies" to investors for years in running a Ponzi-like scheme. "Rest assured, we will continue to investigate and prosecute those who engage in schemes to defraud such as this one," a senior prosecutor told reporters Friday after the verdict was returned. But the defence maintained that Shkreli's wealthy investors ultimately made money rather than incurring losses. Allegations otherwise were "rich people's BS," Benjamin Brafman ? one of the most celebrated criminal defence lawyers of his generation and Shkreli's lawyer ? told jurors last week. Shkreli declined to testify and the defence called no witnesses. 'Found one or two broomsticks' "This was a witch hunt of epic proportions, and maybe they found one or two broomsticks, but at the end of the day, we've been acquitted of the most important charges," Shkreli told reporters. Before going on trial, Shkreli had been best known as the chief executive of Turing Pharmaceuticals who raised the price of anti-infection drug Daraprim by 5,000 percent in 2015, sparking outrage from US lawmakers and patients and earning him the nickname "Pharma bro." The charges stemmed from his career before Turing, as chief executive of Retrophin and manager of hedge funds MSMB Capital and MSMB Healthcare. Prosecutors claimed that between 2009 and 2014, he lied to MSMB investors, lost their money and paid them back with cash and stock misappropriated from Retrophin. Jurors heard testimony from several MSMB investors who said Shkreli falsely claimed to have an outside auditor and tens of millions of dollars in assets, sent them fabricated account statements after losing their money, and became evasive when they asked for their investments back. Prosecutors said Shkreli eventually paid investors back with stock or cash from Retrophin by having them sign settlement or consulting agreements with the company. Retrophin directors testified that they did not approve those agreements in advance. 'Not a Ponzi guy' Brafman had urged jurors to see his client not as a fraudster but as an eccentric genius determined to find cures for rare diseases. The lawyer said that while Shkreli's statements to investors were not always true, he made them in good faith. He also emphasized that none of Shkreli's investors lost money, a rarity in a securities fraud case. Working at a super-human pace, he may have made mistakes but he was "not a Ponzi guy" who took other people's money to lead an extravagant lifestyle. Instead, he conceded that his client had "impossible" people skills and routinely aggravated associates. He quoted one witness who compared Shkreli to the Dustin Hoffman character in Oscar-winning 1988 movie Rain Man and said he battled depression and anxiety. Shkreli smirked through a congressional hearing that scrutinized his actions and has since earned a reputation for an extravagant, self-publicizing lifestyle. He resigned from Turing shortly after his indictment in December 2015, after which he was released from prison on bond.

Martin Landau, a star of the 1960s television series "Mission: Impossible" who made a late-career comeback with an Academy Award-winning performance in the 1994 film "Ed Wood," died on Saturday at age 89, his publicist said on Sunday. Landau died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles from unexpected complications during a short hospitalisation for an undisclosed illness, publicist Dick Guttman said in a statement. Landau won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of horror movie star Bela Lugosi in the Tim Burton film "Ed Wood." He had been nominated for an Academy Award twice before, first for his performance in Francis Coppola's "Tucker" and again for Woody Allen's "Crimes and Misdemeanors."
