  1. A new teaser promo for Marvel movie Black Widow has been released with Scarlett Johansson in the lead role
  2. One of the biggest criticisms that have been levelled against the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the conspicuous lack of LGBTQ representation. © Marvel Studios Heck, even the characters who have been established as openly gay or queer in the comics, have been shown with some degree of ambiguity in their sexuality, on the big screen. In some cases, they have been shown as straight and heterosexual. © Marvel Studios In a conference in 2018, the top brass at Marvel Studios decided to put an end to that, and had stated that going forth, the MCU would be more inclusive of LGBTQI+ characters in the upcoming phase. POV: You've just arrived at the TVA Marvel Studios' #Loki starts streaming Wednesday on @DisneyPlus. pic.twitter.com/fhP2pWvOz5 — Loki (@LokiOfficial) June 6, 2021 To that effect, they sort of announced for Marvel’s Loki, Tom Hiddleston’s character is gender-fluid, just like in the comics. Here are 8 other Marvel movie characters that fall on the LGBTQI+ spectrum in the comics. 1. Valkyrie © Marvel Studios Valkyrie is the most widely known bisexual character in Marvel’s movie roster. Although there have been no scenes or sequences in the movies which clearly implied such a thing. Taika Waititi & Tessa Thompson, both, have confirmed that the character is Bisexual, and this will be explored in the upcoming Thor: Love & Thunder. 2. Korg © Marvel Studios Another character, whose sexuality might be explored in Thor: Love & Thunder, is Korg. In the comics, Korg is seen in a romantic homosexual relationship, immediately after the Ragnarok saga. With Marvel’s decision to explore the sexuality of their LGBTQI+ characters, there is a good chance that we get to See Korg going on a journey of his own. 3. Okoye © Marvel Studios The makers of Black Panther took a lot of artistic liberties and deviated a lot from the comics, which isn’t an issue as such. For example, the Okoye we see in the movies is an amalgamation of two different characters - Okoye and Aneka. Now, Aneka has been shown to be attracted to women, whereas in the movie, Okoye was married to W'Kabi. It will be interesting to see, how Marvel tries to salvage this situation. 4. Captain Marvel © Marvel Studios The MCU is currently following just one iteration of Captain Marvel, which happens to be one of the “straight” or heterosexual iterations. Marvel nerds know that is some of the other iterations of Captain Marvel, the superhero is actually a lesbian. It seems that Brie Larson, along with the producers of Captain Marvel are aware of this fact, and may explore this in the cinematic universe as well. We cute @TessaThompson_x https://t.co/7358yhTQlA — Brie Larson (@brielarson) March 18, 2019 5. Ice Man © 20th Century Fox Although not strictly a Marvel Cinematic Character, we still will count Ice Man in this listicle. As per the comic books, Ice Man was one of the first characters to come out as gay in the comics, which makes him an integral part of the pantheon. We genuinely wish, that Ice Man, and the older X-Men characters, do get to see a comeback. 6. Mystique © 20th Century Fox Another old X-Men character that falls on the spectrum, is Mystique. In the films, as well as in the comic books, Mystique does get attracted to Charles Xavier & Erik Lensherr. However, in the comic books, she has been shown to have a romantic relationship with a character called ‘Destiny.’ Unfortunately, this aspect was never explored in any of the films. 7. Negasonic Teenage Warhead © 20th Century Fox Finally, we have Negasoic Teenage Warhead. The dope and uber-cool name notwithstanding, Negasonic actually was the first openly homosexual character we had on the screen from Marvel. Although the Deadpool films weren’t technically made by Marvel studios, they still are a part of the larger universe. Negasonic was shown to have a partner, named Yukio. The bottom line… Although Marvel has been conspicuously silent on the sexuality of its LGBTQ characters, we’re glad that they have had at least some form of representation. What we’re really looking forward to, is how in the upcoming releases, Marvel is going to give some characters and their sexuality, a safe space. View the full article
  3. The first reviews of Marvel’s latest show, Lok is out, and film critics are just loving it. So much so, that saying they’re going all orgasmic over it wouldn’t be farfetched. © Marvel That invariably means that fellow fans of all things Marvel will also find the show completely worth the hype. Before this, the only other show that had audiences going with such a buzz was WandaVision, and if some critics are to be believed, Loki easily trumps the aforementioned mini-series. © Marvel Tom Hiddlestone had been given a rather raw deal if you ask us, with his character Loki being killed off in Avengers: Infinity War, and him having a very small portion in Avengers: Endgame. Marvel has more than made up for that, it seems, by giving the British Actor a mini-series of his own. © Marvel As per the early reviews, what sets the tone for the mini-series, is the camaraderie between Hiddlestone’s Loki & Owen Wilson’s Mobius M Mobius. © Marvel Plus, the fact that the plot of the series revolves around time-hopping, you can expect some pretty incredulous and hilarious stuff happening throughout the mini-series. One can reasonably expect that Marvel fans will be right at the edge of their seats for all 6 episodes. © Marvel People who had seen the trailer would remember that Loki & Mobius, inspite of being in the same team, are trying to outwit each other. Plus, the action sequences looked spectacular in it. Here’s what people with early access to the show, and who have already seen the first two episodes, have to say about the new mini-series: First two episodes of #Loki down and it has dethroned Wandavision as my fav Marvel show. Was NOT prepared to have feelings for Tom Hiddleston but here I am blushing every time he comes onscreen. Love a man who can make me laugh. Also, Owen and Tom's dynamic is be-yond! pic.twitter.com/QAAzsatWQa — Shilpa Rathnam (@shilparathnam) June 6, 2021The real gem of #Loki is the chemistry between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. Lots of exposition in their dialogue, but it’s a thrill to watch them go wit for wit trying to solve a wickedly weird case. A strange bromance that deserves MULTIPLE seasons, not just one. pic.twitter.com/WdVueZL8kS — Brandon Pope TV (@BpopeTV) June 6, 2021... and them on screen together is something we should hope lasts for several seasons. Marvel's time-travel rules & explanations are still mega questionable and there's a layer of mystery which I hope leads to something bigger and more detailed since the TVA is so weird. (2/2) pic.twitter.com/PHcDLdHzBk — Rob Keyes (@rob_keyes) June 6, 2021I'll add that the way Owen Wilson's Mobius deals with Loki is hilarious. The show is heavy on dialogue and intimate scenery and that works so well for this. It's like X-Files for those two. — Rob Keyes (@rob_keyes) June 6, 2021I've seen the first 2 episodes of #Loki & I'm LOVING it so far. It's a time-traveling detective show that's laying groundwork for the MCU multiverse while also being about identity & confronting ugly truths about ourselves. The Tom Hiddleston/Owen Wilson bromance is my favorite pic.twitter.com/w9yLLHGEHJ — Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) June 6, 2021One thing’s for certain. Owen Wilson has managed to really stand out and hold his own. Fans in India will get to see Loki’s first episode on Disney+Hotstar, on the 9th of June, along with the rest of the world. Now that’s a date that Marvel fans are waiting for, eagerly. View the full article
  4. In a piece of news that will certainly excite fans across India as well as neighbours Pakistan, actor Fawad Khan has been rumoured to be the latest Asian actor to become a part of the elite superhero world of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). © Instagram According to reports, the dashing 39-year-old actor will join the cast of Marvel's much-anticipated superhero show, Ms Marvel. © Marvel Studios The project is also reported to be the same one that will see Indian actor Farhan Akhtar's Marvel debut, so it will be very interesting to see the pair on the screen if it all ends up going as planned. © BCCL The news of Fawad's casting was revealed by BBC Asian Network Senior journalist Haroon Rashid, who took to Twitter to share the update. Wow! Fawad Khan set to appear in Ms Marvel - the Disney+ series about Marvel’s first titular Muslim character. He's listed on the show's official IMDB page. Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha and Samina Ahmad are reportedly part of the cast too. Marvel yet to comment. Amazing if true! pic.twitter.com/FFdvBHXRGO — Haroon Rashid (@iHaroonRashid) June 4, 2021 "Wow! Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha, and Samina Ahmad are reportedly part of the cast too. Marvel yet to comment. Amazing if true!" he tweeted. There is indeed truth in what the journalist tweeted, as IMDB listings do show Fawad as being a part of the series as a character named 'Hasan'. © IMDB The Pakistani heartthrob has already endeared himself to the Indian audience through his work in Pakistani serials like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Humsafar, as well as Indian films like Khoobsurat, Kapoor And Sons, and Aye Dil Hai Mushkil. © Netflix So far, there has been no official confirmation from either Fawad or Marvel Studios, however, if the reports are indeed true, Marvel will have gained an extremely good-looking and talented Asian actor alongside India's very own Farhan. © Instagram/Iman Vellani/Marvel Comics The upcoming superhero Disney+ mini-series Ms Marvel, which stars Canadian actress Iman Vellani in the titular role, will also have two more Pakistani artists - Nimra Bucha and Samina Ahmad. 6. Emilia Clarke recently shed light on her decision to move into the Marvel Universe
  7. With Farhan Akhtar already signing up for an unnamed Marvel project and Harish Patel joining the cast of Marvel's Eternals, it sure looks like Hollywood is opening its Superhero universe for actors from Bollywood. © Gulf News Batman is considered to be the DC universe's most prized possession, with the caped crusader one of the rare breeds of superheroes who does not have actual superpowers. © Marvel Studios Having said that, however, if a certain Bollywood actor were to replace him, we think that the Marvel King should only be played by the true king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about Tony Stark's intellect, his quirky one-liners, and his overall charisma, SRK is the one Indian actor who usually ticks all the boxes. © HD Nice Wallpapers Well, we couldn't find a better candidate than Bollywood's very own John Abraham to play the role of Ghost Rider. The actor, being a biking aficionado, will fit right in place and with his performances in Rocky Handsome and Force, he will surely guarantee performance of a lifetime. 5. Hrithik Roshan as Aquaman © DC Being a royal Atlantean-human hybrid and the King of Atlantis, Aquaman has a godly physique and is a lot stronger, faster, and tougher than any Atlantian or human. Well, which actor exactly comes to your mind when you think of Greek God-like features, bulging biceps, and surfer-boy type looks in Bollywood? Well, it is definitely Hrithik Roshan. The actor looks tailor-made to play the role of the ruler of the ocean, and while his character may have actually died by drowning in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, it feels like he would look to right some wrongs as Aquaman. 6. Ranveer Singh as Mr. Fantastic © TOI If we were to look for a Bollywood candidate to play the role of Mister Fantastic, it should probably be Ranveer Singh, who is one of THE most versatile actors in the industry right now. With his tremendous acting talent and oozing charm, we feel he'd dive deep into what really makes Reed Richards the smartest man in the Marvel universe as well as a badass superhero that is Mister Fantastic. 7. Aditi Rao Hydari as Wonder Woman © Marvel Studios If anyone's seen Priyanka's career graph, she has risen to the absolute top all on her own. This shows great strength of character, something which Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow has in abundance. To be honest, Piggy Chops would actually look spectacular in the Black Widow costume as well. What do you think? 9. Rohit Saraf as Spider-Man © Marvel Studios Actor Rohit Saraf is probably the new kid in the neighborhood that is Bollywood, similar to how Holland's Spider-Man was with the Avengers in the MCU universe. But having seen a bit of his work and his fan following on social media, we can surely say that Rohit Saraf would fit well in Spider-Man's spandex costume, while surely putting his athleticism and acting talent to work. 10. Vidyut Jamwal as Punisher © The Comic Vault The Marvel anti-hero is probably the most fearsome character in the whole superhero universe due to his ability to inflict some serious damage. The Punisher possesses skills in hand-to-hand combat, guerrilla warfare, and marksmanship while carrying a range of weapons against enemies. This means that he is truly a one-man-army, and who better to fill that role than Vidyut Jamwal. The supremely talented actor, who is a super fitness enthusiast, is known for his roles in the Commando series, where he literally does everything on his own, making him pretty much the same ilk as The Punisher. Just try picturing him in a black jacket, with the Skull pictured shirt underneath, standing in the night with his hair all rolled back, yes, we have got ourselves the Indian Punisher. 9. Like it or not, but DC Comics & Marvel have more in common than you would have thought. We have seen that there have been a plethora of instances when DC Comics copied characters from Marvel. © DC Comics Well guess what, Marvel, has done the same thing. They have extensively copied characters from DC back in the day. The only difference is, when DC used to copy Marvel, most of their rehashes, failed to strike a chord with the audiences. As opposed to that, Marvel knew how to polish a character and ensure that it’s a guaranteed hit. © Warner Bros Here are just 7 of such characters that, Marvel blatantly copied from DC, and made them more popular than the original. Deadpool Copied From Deathstroke © Marvel Comics & DC Comics This actually started out as a joke. DC Comics always had a reputation of being a little serious and melodramatic. They had a character called Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, the world’s best assassin. The comic book version of Deathstroke is nothing like the movie version - the original one was sombre, and much silent as a character, and was introduced in 1980. 11 years after Deathstroke was made by DC, Marvel decided to launch a comical version, that mocked DC’s serious tone. Thus Deadpool or Wade Wilson was born in 1991. Marvel did not even try to hide the fact that they had copied Deathstroke, and placed Deadpool as a parody of the assassin. Mr Fantastic Copied From Elongated Man © Marvel Comics & DC Comics We bet most of you haven’t even heard of Elongated Man, now, had you? Well DC introduced the character in 1960, a year before the launch of The Fantastic 4 comics. Elongated Man was actually doing well as a character and had decent sales. However, once the first Fantastic Four comic, The Fantastic Four #1 released in November 1961, it was Mr Fantastic that ruled the charts and conversations around comics. Mr Elongated was confined to a very small corner of the comicverse, almost forgotten. Doctor Strange Copied From Doctor Fate © Marvel Comics & DC Comics Hard to believe, isn’t it? One of the most popular Marvel characters ever, not just in movies, was actually copied from DC. Doctor Fate first appeared in 1940. The story goes that Kent Nelson, the first Dr Fate was an archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Nabu and was trained by him, after an accident. Similarly, Dr Stephen Strange is also a genius and at the top of his field, who meets an accident, gets trained in the Orient, and is healed by magic. The sorcerer first appeared in 1963, 23 years after Doctor Fate. Vision Copied From Red Tornado © Marvel Comics & DC Comics As a comic book character, Vision wasn’t as popular as the version we see in the movies and in WandaVision by Paul Bettany. Vision was first seen in the copy of an Avengers comic book, in October 1968. Red Tornado, the character that Marvel copied to make Vision, was first seen in August 1968, the same year. When Red Tornado first appeared, he was a massive hit. Both, Red Tornado & Vision, were sentient androids with superpowers. Stylistically, they had some similarities as well. However, the powers they possessed were completely different. Ultron Copied From Brainiac © Marvel Comics & DC Comics Ultron and Brainiac are more similar than one would imagine. Again, it seems like Marvel wasn’t even trying to hide that their Ultron was inspired by Brainiac. Both of them are sentient AI systems married to an android body, and both of them have the ability to respawn and exist in great numbers. Brainiac, who’s often considered to be one of the greatest comic book villains and one of Superman’s deadliest adversaries, first appeared in 1958. Ultron on the other hand first appeared in 1968, a decade after Brainiac. Fun Fact: In the comics, Tony Stark wasn’t the one who created Ultron. It was actually Hank Pym, the man who created the Ant-Man suit. Thanos Copied From Darkseid © Marvel Comics & DC Comics This is pretty well known that Thanos was copied from Darkseid. In the cinematic universes, Thanos seems to be a much more formidable supervillain. In the comic books though, Darkseid could wipe the floor with Thanos. Darkseid was first introduced in 1970, whereas Thanos was introduced in 1973. Although both of them have superhuman strength and intellect and are basically immortal, one key difference is that Darkseid had mind-controlling powers, including telepathy and telekinesis, whereas Thanos had to rely on various devices for such powers. Hulk Copied Solomon Grundy © Marvel Comics & DC Comics If we consider just the comic books, the most successful and popular characters aren’t Iron Man or Captain America, but Spider-Man, followed by Hulk. What’s surprising is that Hulk wasn’t an original concept for Marvel. Long before the Hulk existed, DC Comics had an antihero/supervillain called Solomon Grundy. Grundy was introduced in 1944 and had superhuman strength, virtual immortality was almost invulnerable, and had immense healing power, all powers that we see in Hulk as well. Hulk was introduced in 1962 and had similar abilities and issues. Both of them were the result of coming face to face with deadly radiation, although Grundy was already dead when he was exposed to radiation. There are some subtle differences between the two characters though. Grundy does not have a human form and therefore doesn’t transform into anything. Also, Grundy does not fly into an uncontrollable rage, although he gets just as destructive as the Hulk View the full article
  10. Marvel Cinematic Universe?s South Asian fans were over the moon after seeing the representation in 'Eternals'
  11. There's clearly exciting news for Marvel fans everywhere. The Marvel Cinematic Universe released the new teaser of one of the most awaited superhero movies of the year, The Eternals. © Marvel Studios In what will be the first vital superhero team to be introduced since the Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, The Eternals will finally put renowned American comic book artist Jack Kirby's comic to the big screen. © Good Comics To Read With beloved superheroes like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and former Captain America Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) bidding farewell to the much successful Marvel franchise, fans sure were expecting there to be an inclusion of more exciting characters to take their legacy forward. And they have got just that. Directed by Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao, the film's casting is the most Marvel thing ever as it brings together the likes of the Game of Thrones pair Kit Harrington and Richard Madden in addition to Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and Don Lee. © Marvel Studios The film's 2.08 minute-long teaser trailer narrates how the Eternals, a team of super-powered alien race, had been living in disguise since the early days of mankind, only to now resurface to protect humanity from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. “We have watched, and guided. We have helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders. Throughout the years we have never interfered, until now,” as per the narration in the teaser. Now, while the teaser sure unravels a lot of details regarding the ancient team of superheroes, there are surely certain things Indian Marvel fans would like to see: 1. An Indian Wedding © Marvel Studios If you are a true Marvel fan, you would surely remember the Spider-Man: Homecoming scene where Tony Stark AKA Iron Man could be seen attending an Indian wedding while making a quick call to his young protegee, Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man. Well, seems like Marvel is a fan of Indian weddings as that's what is exactly shown in The Eternals teaser. The new superhero team members, Sersi and Ikaris, played by Chan and Madden can be seen pitted close together in traditional desi clothes with garlands tied around their necks in what seems to be a precious Indian wedding ceremony of sorts. Well, we Indians only need a reason to dance at events and this is one wedding we won't wanna miss. 2. Indian Actor Harish Patel Is In The Movie © Youtube/screenshot It appears that the MCU is keeping a close eye on talent in India as they look to bring more diversity to the universe. We had already heard that Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar was part of a secret Marvel project, however, we had no idea that his compatriot Harish Patel was also said to be part of the Marvel universe. Well, it was surely a pleasant surprise seeing the 67-year-old Gunda and Mohra actor be a part of a franchise that is watched and loved across the world. We are sure Indian Marvel fans will be keen to find out what role he has to play in the latest superhero movie. 3. An Indian Dance Sequence © Youtube/screenshot Seems like Hollywood is taking notes from Bollywood! Yes, as seen in the teaser trailer of The Eternals, there is an actual Indian dance sequence featuring Pakistani-American comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani, along with 50 other dancers. Kumail, who plays the role of Kingo, who can shoot out cosmic energy from his hands, could be seen in the teaser channelling his inner Shah Rukh Khan, which is surely something we'd like to get more of when the film finally releases later this year. 4. Special Treat For Indian Fans With The Early Release Date © Marvel Studios Back in 2019, Avengers: Endgame swept through the Indian box office, breaking all kinds of records which included it being the biggest Hollywood opener in the country. Marvel fans in India are as passionate as they come, and this is not something that has gone unnoticed by the top bosses. As per reports, Marvel wants to treat Indian fans with an earlier release of the movie as compared to that of the US. While the movie will hit the American theatres on November 5, it will be given a late October release in India. Surely, all this is enough to get you pumped up. Hopefully, we will all be able to get past the pandemic and listen to the iconic Marvel intro in theatres while sipping on some expensive Coca-Cola and munching on caramel popcorn. It sure will be hundred per cent worth it! View the full article
  12. If you're a DC or Marvel fan, you can bet your a** that superheroes like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and Iron Man will put their lives on the line to save the lives of the innocent and bring peace to the world. © Sony Pictures However, while they would love nothing better than to kick the Supervillain's sinister butt back to their very layers, there is a thin line that they choose to never cross, regardless of how bad things get. You see, the greatest superheroes on the planet live by a strict moral code, where-in they do not kill. © Warner Bros. Despite possessing powers like superhuman strength, heat vision, and energy blasts, superheroes refuse to take the easy way out by decimating criminal masterminds like Joker, Lex Luther, and co, as they truly believe that the system, while being broken, is not irreparable. However, there are still a few superhumans, who while wanting the same things as Earth's mightiest heroes, do not believe in giving into the moral code bulls***. Popularly known as anti-heroes, these characters are known for their simple yet effective policy of hitting first and asking questions later. © Screen Rant Now, while they may not be out there to outrightly kill evil people, they will not shy away from it if one gives them the reason to. Kill or No-Kill, one thing is certain. If they spot supervillains wandering about, making plans of mass destruction, they will beat them down to a pulp. Well, without further ado, here is a list of the top 6 anti-heroes who will make sure that supervillains go back in a body bag. 6. REDHOOD © CBR An integral part of the Batman family, Red Hood AKA Jason Todd is known to be one character criminals are scared to come up against. Todd was Batman's second Robin before he was killed by Joker, only to be later resurrected by the League of Assassins. During the time, he garnered all the fighting experience and skills to become Gotham's protector in a fashion quite different to other members of the Bat-Family that included Batman, Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl. Redhood shattered the idea of having a moral compass and would not back away from being the ruthless vigilante that Gotham needed. 5. CATWOMAN © Warner Bros. Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman is one of DC's most famous female anti-heroes that does not care for the law. A master thief by trade, Kyle does spend an awful lot of time using her fists to beat up the corrupt in Gotham. Known to be a person who stands up for the weak, Catwoman does not hold back anything in terms of crime-fighting on the dark streets of the city. Despite not possessing superhuman powers, her athletic built, combat skills and cat-like reflexes help her in downing the biggest of criminals, making her a fearful anti-hero in the DC universe. 4. GHOST RIDER © Deviantart One of Marvel's dark and grim characters, Ghost Rider is an anti-hero who chooses to protect people and fights evil on his own terms, that is, with extreme prejudice. While superheroes do instill fear among criminals and super-villains, imagine a superhuman who has his skull on flames, riding an even scarier-looking motorcycle while donning a leather jacket and chains, coming for you on an empty street in the middle of the night. Yes, that's exactly what Johnny Blaze AKA Ghost Rider brings to the superhero universe. Known to be the Devil's bounty hunter, the Ghost Rider is tasked with finding evil souls on earth and bringing them down to hell. That's a scary thought for people that are up to no good. 3. VENOM © Sony Pictures Eddie Brock AKA Venom may have started out as one of Spider-Man's most famous arch-enemies in the Marvel universe. However, with time Venom started to drift off from the status of being a villain to that of an anti-hero, with comics and TV shows even showing incidences of him even teaming up with Spider-Man to fight greater evil. © Comicinventory Regardless of Venom turning a new leaf, he chooses to live by some of the old rules, which is having a no-nonsense attitude that even pushes him to eat people up who end up becoming a problem for him. This along with Venom's status of being Marvel universe's lethal protector cements his position as one of the most fearful anti-heroes in the superhero universe. 2. DEADPOOL © Marvel We all know Deadpool, thanks to Ryan Reynolds' two movies, as a superhero character who would probably wear criminals and supervillains down with his puns, before killing them off with his Katanas. Known as the "Merc with the Mouth", Deadpool is an anti-hero unlike any other in the DC as well as the Marvel universe. However, underneath all that humor, there lies a man with a plan, a man who will cross all limits known to the world, to do the right thing. Now, if that means cutting the villains into pieces or gorging someone's eyes out, he will do it and then have chimichangas right after it. 1. PUNISHER © Comingsoon Frank Castle took up the mantle of being The Punisher after the death of his wife and two children at the hands of the mob in New York. While Castle belongs to the class of anti-heroes that does not possess superhuman powers, it does not mean that he cannot inflict damage. Being a war veteran and a U.S. Marine Corps Scout/Sniper in Force Recon, Castle has all the tools one needs to wage war against criminals. He possesses skills in hand-to-hand combat, guerrilla warfare, and marksmanship, and also has access to a plethora of weapons to use against different enemies. Sporting the well-known skull motif on his chest, The Punisher is a criminal's worst nightmare and it is known that once he has you on target, it is almost impossible for him to be stopped, even by superheroes. 13. It has been quite some time since we last saw Marvel superheroes like Iron Man, Spiderman, Thor, and co. on the big screens, and well ever since the onset of the pandemic, fans have been waiting to go back to theatres to relish some new superhero action. © Marvel Studios Now, while MCU has wasted no time in expanding its universe to digital platforms with the release of Wanda Vision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the upcoming Loki series, all eyes are on the new Marvel movies that will carry on the legacy of Iron Man and Captain America on the big screen. © Marvel Studios Well, what is certain to get fans excited are the bunch of action-filled Marvel movies that are slated to be released in theatres in 2021. Here are the movies that will want you to rush back to cinema halls. 5. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings © Marvel Studios Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shangi-Chi is the first MCU film to center on an Asian lead along with an Asian filmmaking team, with Canadian actor, writer, and stuntman Simu Liu starring as Kung Fu superhero, Shang-Chi. Also known as the Master of Kung Fu and Brother Hand, the new superhero will be pitted against his father, the Marvel Supervillain Mandarin, which will be played by Tony Leung. Shang-Chi, which was created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin, is said to play a significant role in carrying the Marvel superhero universe forward, and fans will get a chance to finally see his story unravel in theatres on September 3, 2021. 4. Eternals © Marvel Studios One of the rather exciting superhero films of the year is Eternals, which is based on the Eternals comic book created by Jack Kirby. Directed by Chloe Zhao, the movie will have a group of superpowered beings that have been engineered by the Celestials to harness vast amounts of “cosmic energy.” What is most impressive about the film is its star-filled cast which includes the Game of Thrones pair Richard Madden and Kit Harrington, along with Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. The movie is slated to release in theatres on November 5, 2021. 3. Black Widow © Marvel Studios Scarlett Johansson will once again return to the screens to reprise her role as the athletic, a** kicking vigilante known by the name of Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow. Fans will finally be able to see her standalone film to explore her origin story, long before she joined alongside Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America as part of the Avengers. The movie, which will also star Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and David Harbour, will be released in theatres and on the Disney Plus platform on August 8, 2021. 2. Venom: Let There Be Carnage © Marvel Studios Oh boy! This film is clearly on the watchlist of every superhero fan, regardless of whether one likes the Marvel or the DC universe. Tom Hardy will finally return as the super cool, dark, and monstrous anti-villain Venom in Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage. Now, as the title suggests, the film will see the introduction of Carnage, one of the most popular supervillains of the Spider-Man universe. The role of Carnage will be played by Woody Harrelson, who will certainly be expected to bring the best out of the character on the big screen. Directed by Andy Serkis, Venom 2 will be released on 17 September 2021. 1. Spider-Man: No Way Home © Comicbook We saved the best for the last as the third installment of Tom Holland's Spiderman series is certainly raising a lot of expectations amongst fans. While much of the movie has been kept under the wraps for quite some time, the film has been rumored to be a multiverse film (a similar concept to Sony's Into The Spiderverse). While Holland remains the star of the show, the film is rumored to bring back, the one and only, the original Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, in what could be a Spiderman teams up from different universes. Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as Doc Ock have already been confirmed for the movie, with MCU's Doctor Strange also said to have an integral role in the film. Throw in the rumored involvement of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Kirsten Dunst into the fray and we might have a blockbuster on our hands that will get fans ecstatic when the film finally releases on December 17, 2021. Well, we sure cannot wait for this cinematic spectacle. Which film are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments section below. View the full article
  14. There are superheroes like Superman and Thor, who have supernatural and divine origins, and therefore, are legit Gods among humans. Superheroes like these are blessed with awesome superpowers through which they fight evil. © Marvel Studios But then, there is a league of superheroes who aren’t exactly blessed this way. They are very normal human beings, who have trained themselves or have used their intelligence to elevate themselves to superhuman levels, and then fight crime. Superheroes like Batman & Iron Man. © Warner Bros. Pictures We take a look at 9 superhero characters from the Marvel & DC universes, who have no superpowers or divine abilities but have still managed to elevate themselves to superhuman levels: 1. Iron Man © Marvel Studios Of course, we begin the list with Iron Man or Tony Stark. He obviously lacks superpowers and divine abilities, but thanks to his intelligence, his wealth, and his impressive understanding of weapons and engineering, he is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful superheroes out there. 2. Batman © Warner Bros. Pictures Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark have similar capabilities, although, Stark is more engineering and scientifically sound. Bruce, on the other hand, is tenacious and covers up his weaknesses, through sheer training and hard work. While Tony’s powers come largely from his suit, For Wayne, the Bat Suit and all the other tech, are mere accessories. With that being said, he became a proper superhuman, through sheer will. Fun Fact: Here’s why we think Batman would beat Iron Man in a fight in the real world. 3. Robin © Warner Bros. Pictures We’re sort of pissed that Robin hasn’t had a solo film yet. His story truly has a lot to offer. We were actually excited when we saw Joseph Gordon-Levitt take up the mantle from Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. 4. Black Widow © Marvel Studios Black Widow is another “simpleton” with superhuman abilities. She has been one of the most savage characters in the MCU, and it will be really interesting to see how her first solo film plays out. Her origin story is something that piques a lot of interest. 5. Hawkeye / Green Arrow © Marvel Studios We’re keeping Hawkeye & Green Arrow in the same bracket here because they are the same, ability-wise. With that being said it is actually astounding to see someone never miss their mark, no matter how difficult the shot is. © Warner Bros. Television Also, it is pretty fun watching someone master the bow & arrow to such a great extent, that they stand out in proper gunfights. 6. The Punisher © Netflix The Punisher just had to be on this list. He is the archetypal superhuman and a supersoldier. Technically speaking, he is an anti-hero, rather than a superhero, but we will still add him to this list. If you know nothing about the Punisher and have been living under a rock all this time, we suggest you watch the TV series on Netflix. Or better yet, read some of the comics. Without a doubt, he is one of the most brutal human beings in either of the universes. 7. Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) © Marvel Studios After his “death,” Bucky was actually brainwashed and trained by the Russians to be the ultimate soldier a human being could be. The only “unnatural” thing about his body and abilities is the prosthetic arm that he uses. Otherwise, all of his powers and abilities come through his training. As for his ability to not age, he was frozen for decades at a time, in between the clandestine missions for which he would be sent, which meant biologically, he stopped ageing for decades at times. 8. Deadshot © Warner Bros. Television Again, there is nothing supernatural or divine about Deadshot’s ability. However, through sheer training, and skill, he is on a different level with guns. Besides that, his skills include exceptional tracking and espionage capabilities. For sure, he is one of the deadliest people on the list. View the full article

  16. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a long way since the first Iron Man movie which came out in 2008 and has enjoyed global fame since then. One of their biggest fan-following comes from India so it is only obvious that the guys in the studios try to give us a shoutout from time to time. Here are the five major Indian references made in The Avengers and other MCU Movies: 1. Bruce Banner In Kolkata - The Avengers (2012) At the very beginning of The Avengers, Natasha Romanoff is given the task of locating Bruce Banner, who was trying to keep his calm in the “slums of Kolkata” and looking after the sick. 2. Terror Attack In Mumbai - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) At the near end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Alexander Pierce tries to explain his plan to the World Security Council and talks to Councilman Singh dirently. Pierce asks him if he will be willing to use the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s resources to deal with a situation in which Pakistan attacks Mumbai. 3. Tony Stark Attends Indian Wedding - Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Although Robert Doney Jr. wasn’t really in India, the moment in the very first Spidey movie as an MCU product in which Stark is in the middle of an Indian wedding, surely surprised a lot of Indian fans. 4. ‘Glory To Hanuman’ - Black Panther (2018) When M’Baku makes his first appearance to challenge T'Challa for the throne, he says “Glory To Hanuman” signifying that the people of his Jabari tribe were the devotees of the Hindu god. However, the Indian Censor Board felt that this reference might hurt people’s religious sentiments and decided to bleep the god’s name from the film. 5. ‘Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba’ - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) This last one’s a bit tricky. While Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 didn’t really have any Indian reference, one of their marketing campaigns involved redoing the movie trailer with 1980’s superhit song Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba. While this experiment received mixed reactions from the fans, the film did exceedingly well in India and it is safe to say that the marketing stunt paid off. 17. After a decade of entertaining superhero fans worldwide by leading the line for Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) Avengers, Chris Evans' Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man bowed out of the superhero ensemble, in what was to be the end of a glorious era. © YouTube While fans were clearly disheartened at the thought of not seen the two return as the much-loved and respected characters, the introduction of the new MCU Phase IV means that fans will be able to see an array of new and exciting superheroes bring their stories on the big screen as well as on the TV. Importantly, there is an even more exciting piece of news for Marvel fans around the globe. © Marvel Following the strong critical and fan reception of Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Marvel has decided to start work on the fourth Captain America movie. ‘CAPTAIN AMERICA 4’ is in the works with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson set to write the script. (Source: https://t.co/Ll4kXUXVkc) pic.twitter.com/LRKhrWOwwL — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) April 23, 2021 According to reports, Marvel Studios, under the helm of President Kevin Feige, has tapped Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman to write the screenplay for the fourth instalment along with Dalan Musson, who is a staff writer on the Disney Plus tv series. So far, no director has been attached to the upcoming Marvel project, and only time will tell whether we will get to see Evans return in any role in the movie. © Walt Disney Evans, having played the role of Steve Rogers AKA Captain America toplined the last three films of the franchise: Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and Captain America: Civil War (2016), before he retired from the role. However, what is certain is that we will see Sam Wilson (Mackie), the current wielder of the Captain America Shield, reprise his role in the new movie. © Disney The new developments are a clear message to fans that Marvel is not sitting at the perch of the Superhero cinematic universe kingdom and will only kick on from where they left off. The new Disney Plus television series that includes the upcoming Loki, and other movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Widow, and others under the MCU Phase IV, is only a start to a new dawn of superhero drama. Well, we sure as hell cannot wait for it! View the full article
  18. Marvel Studios have become increasingly famous for hiding interesting easter eggs and minute details in plain sight compelling avid comic-book fans and geeks like me to spend hours looking for them. Iron Man’s ‘Heads-up Display’ or HUD turns out to be a goldmine for such hidden content and also shows the obsession of Marvel Studios and the graphic designers to get everything perfect and maintain continuity in the film. © Marvel Studios Here are five times Iron Man’s HUD paid great attention to detail: 1. Combat Mode - The Avengers (2012) During the third act of the film when the Avengers finally get over their personal egos and form a team of ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ against the Chitauri, Tony Stark’s display changes from the normal blue to deadly red. While the blue display showed Stark’s health status, the red ‘Combat Mode’ showed his arsenal of rockets and other weapons that his suit was equipped with. 2. Hulkbuster - Avenger: Age of Ultron (2015) In the scene in which Hulk is under the spell of Wanda Maximoff, Tony stops him from destroying an entire city with the help of the all-new badass Hulkbuster armour. There are two things to notice once the Hulkbuster is up and running. One, the entire HUD gets significantly better in order to differentiate this suit from his common human-sized ones. Secondly, it shows the different strategies Tony would use to defeat Banner such as activating ‘Sedation’ or even mark spots in an under construction-building where he’d have to hit with rockets in order to ensure minimum collateral damage while dropping the angry beast through it. 3. Diagnosing Anxiety Attack - Iron Man 3 (2013) This entire conversation between Tony and J.A.R.V.I.S. in the first half of the movie is simply brilliant. Unable to forget the memories of the battle of New York from the first Avengers’ movie, Tony suffers an anxiety attack and asks his AI to check what’s wrong with him. While talking to Stark, J.A.R.V.I.S. checks everything that he is asked to, while showing the results on his HUD almost instantly. First, he does a CT Heart Scan, followed by an MRI of the brain. He then checks Stark’s blood for poison under “toxicology screening” before finally letting him know that it’s a severe anxiety attack. 4. The Injured Left Arm - Iron Man 2 (2010) © Marvel Studios Throughout the MCU movies, Stark can be seen nursing his left arm, sometimes even wearing an arm sling to give it rest. In Captain America: Civil War he even explicitly says that his left arm “is numb”. That is because of the numerous injuries caused to the region as Iron Man. However, in Iron Man 2 once Tony and Rhodes defeat Whiplash, the suit runs a check on the damage done to Tony’s body and his left arm is shown in red. This is going a couple of extra miles just to ensure continuity, not only within the film but also an entire movie franchise. 5. Suit Charged To 400% And 312% - Avengers (2012) Arguably the most entertaining detail of them all, is shown in the first Avengers film when Stark and Thor get “acquainted” to each other. Thor zaps with him a powerful lightning bolt which happens to charge the suit by 400%. Interestingly, the suit shows that the power levels didn’t stop at 400% but went all the way up to 475%. Later in the film, when Stark manually tries to kick start one of the engines of the Helicarrier and Captain America fails to pull the red lever in time, the display shows 312% power, signifying that while the suit has consumed over 150% of the energy from Thor’s strike, it can still be active three times more than its usual run-time. These details are so small that you’d miss it if you blink at the wrong moment and with so many other things happening in a scene, it is very easy to not even notice that they are there. Even then, the designers put hours and hours of hard work to ensure that these hints are there, not because they have to, but because they are passionate about their work and want to make it perfect and that’s worth recognition, I believe. 19. The 2010-20 decade was definitely an extremely special period for Superhero movies with the American film and television studios, Marvel Studios, going all out to stamp their mark in entertaining millions of fans worldwide. The likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and co endeared themselves to scores of fans as they told the stories of some special superheroes forging an alliance like any other the world had seen before. © Pinterest However, with Mr. Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr., and some others finally leaving the franchise, it was certain that the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will have to adapt and evolve. And that is exactly, what they are doing now with the start of the MCU Phase IV. The phase, which is the first phase in the franchise to include television series, will feature all of the Marvel Studios productions from the period of 2021 through 2023. © Pinterest While some TV series like the WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, have already been released on the Disney+ platform, the MCU has now begun the process in the movies as well. However, unlike how most of the superhero action was restricted to the West, the Avengers are now expanding their superhero universe across the globe. This was confirmed by Marvel, who on Monday (April 19) dropped the first teaser of its upcoming movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Starring Canadian actor, writer, and stuntman Simu Liu as the Kung Fu superhero, "Shangi-Chi", will make history for being the first MCU film to center on an Asian lead along with an Asian filmmaking team. The team consists of director Destin Daniel Cretton, screenwriter David Callaham of "Wonder Woman 1984”, with the cast including Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Fala Chen, Ronny Chieng, Tony Leung, Meng’er Zhang, and Florian Munteanu. © Wikipedia Also known as the Master of Kung Fu and Brother Hand, Shang-Chi is a fictional superhero character that was created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin, with the superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Now, Liu has taken the chance to bring the character to life on the screen, with fans getting to see the film in theatres on September 03, 2021. As it happened, the teaser was released on the 32-year-old actor's birthday and the star wasted no time in sharing the news with fans.
