With kohl-lined eyes and long, wild locks, Saif Ali Khan created a rabid curiosity among people to watch his latest movie Laal Kaptaan on the big screen and the verdict is in. Over the years, Saif has evolved as an actor and his idea of experimenting with roles has clearly been working for him. After watching the trailer of Laal Kaptaan, viewers were left wanting and waiting to see what new element the actor is bringing to the table this time. The movie has already hit the screens and as expected, people have some rather strong opinions. While some are saying the movie is most certainly worth a watch as the concept is something new and brave which has been attempted before, some found it to be an absolute waste of Saif's talent. Check out the reactions here: #LaalKaptaan Epic 5/5 Art Brutal@deepakdobriyal brilliant man.#SaifAliKhan class apart Don't believe the critics. — Maddox (@serious_pencho) October 19, 2019 People go & watch #LaalKaptaan it's a brilliant work by @Nopisingh @ErosNow @aanandlrai @cypplOfficial @firozepuriya @deepakdobriyal & above all brilliant performance by #SaifAliKhan #LaalKaptaanReview 4.5 out of 5,my ratings #GoWatchRealCinema — Vivek (@bigvivek) October 19, 2019 #LaalKaptaan is a must watch. Saif has gone the extra mile to look convincing for the role that he had taken up in Laal Kaptaan. Talking about the physical transformation he underwent to play the role of a revenge-seeking saadhu, Saif had earlier said, "I even got my ears pierced for the role, which I was worried about initially. My hair has grown a lot. It bothered me throughout summer when I was shooting in Rajasthan's sweltering heat. It took me 40 minutes to two hours sometimes to just get into hair and make-up for the part." Apart from this movie, Saif will be seen next in Taanaji: The Unsung Hero, which co-stars Ajay Devgn, in Dil Bechara, alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and in Jawaani Jaaneman, which will mark the Bollywood debut of Pooja Bedi's daughter Alaia Furniturewalla.
When the 'Gully Boy' trailer dropped, no one had a doubt about the fate of the movie because when you combine the vision of Zoya Akhtar and the brilliance of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, you get nothing short of perfection from it. The movie opened at the ongoing Berlin Film Festival and in a record time of just 4 minutes, all the tickets for the premiere were sold out. Needless to say, the audience cannot stop raving about this masterpiece, calling it Ranveer's finest work till date. #GullyBoy is an excellent, excellent film! We all thought we had seen it all, when it comes to Ranveer Singh and statement pieces of clothing . But the thing is, he still surprises us - consistently so - and that is precisely the thing that makes him the fashion king of Bollywood. You might love what he wears, or hate it - but you sure as hell can't ignore it. If that's not the best way of making a statement, we don't know what is. Case in point: A very special outfit Ranveer wore in Berlin for the promotion of 'Gully Boy'. Not that any outfit he wears isn't 'special enough', but the one we're talking about hands down qualifies as the quirkiest outfit ever - even by 'Ranveer standards'. Before we delve deeper into why it counts as a fashion masterpiece, take a look at it. © Manish Arora When we saw it, our jaws had hit the floor as well. 'What IS that?' - was the natural response. But then, because we're more or less used to Ranveer's many sartorial eccentricities, we collected ourselves and patiently looked beyond the candyfloss hued 'magical unicorn fur'. Did you say Unicorns are not real? We thought so too till we saw this. © Manisharorafashion The jacket is a custom-made piece by the uber-talented quirkmaster Manish Arora, who had earlier designed the glow-in-the-dark wedding party outfit for Ranveer . This one here is a special creation for the movie 'Gully Boy'. © Manish Arora "Anyone who is unconventional be in fashion or music or film, they make it to success because they believe in themselves. Only then will the world believe in them. This jacket is a culmination of these ideas. It's an association with my days of struggle. It's unconventional and just like anyone who has made it in life despite the odds, much like the character Ranveer is playing in Gully Boy. The jacket symbolizes freedom, a reminder that we are rare and our own heroes" - Mr Arora wrote in an instagram post while explaining the inspiration behind the jacket. © Manish Arora The jacket contains quirky messages throughout, sewn in dramatically, like playful bursts of fairy dust in between the thick, silky fur of an unicorn running around through clouds. © Manish Arora The back of the jacket takes the cake, where it says 'Believe in yourself', along with rainbows, glitter, and two multicoloured unicorns embroidered with perfection. © Manish Arora There are 13 messages of self-belief sewn across the jacket, that owe their origin to the character of Ranveer in the movie 'Gully Boy', as well as Manish Arora's unconventional story of success. Some of the messages are "I love my life", "Dream", "Be here now", "It's a sign", and "What you seek is seeking you". It's yet another Friday, and while we are already prepping for the weekend that is rolling in with every passing minute, our plans to kickstart the weekend are already in place. With two most awaited (albeit shrouded in controversies) movies 'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' and 'Thackeray' hitting the theatres today, the most eventful plan would be to leave work early and hit the cinema hall. Which can always be followed up with good food and wine later, right? View this post on Instagram Zee Entertainment organises special screening of #Manikarnika -The Queen Of Jhansi for the Hon'ble President of India tomorrow at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre along with #KanganaRanaut and the team. The magnum opus gets its first honour! Releasing on 25th January. A post shared by ManikarnikaTheFilm (@manikarnikafilm) on Jan 17, 2019 at 9:15am PST But of course before you do that, you would want to be sure that your time and money would be worth the risk. We get you, and that is exactly why we decided to bring you the initial reviews for Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika' which is based on the life and times of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi, and her stupendous resistance and fight against the British. View this post on Instagram #Repost @missmalini • • • The teaser of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will be released on Gandhi Jayanti - a day when we celebrate the indomitable spirit of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi. Rani Laxmi Bai has been one of the first, fiercest warrior queens, who fought for independence against the British army. So the makers felt this would be the apt day to launch the teaser of the film that captures the historic life story of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Kangana Ranaut looks gorgeous in this still from the movie. However, from what we gathered so far, movie-goers are in absolute awe of Kangana's portrayal of this powerful historical figure, while some have even claimed that this film will be Kangana's crowning glory and lead her to win a National Award. Ankita Lokhande, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film, and will be seen portraying the role of Jhalkari Bai, has also caught people's attention with her performance. The audience has especially appreciated the screenplay and action sequence of the film, though some have also pointed out that the rising action of the film is slow to start in the first half of the film. With a killer story, stellar direction and performances from the likes of Suresh Oberoi, Atul Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles, this one indeed seems like a blockbuster in the making. #ManikarnikaReview One can't refrain oneself from praising the lead lady #KanganaRanaut, She is nailing her role with perfection. After years of stalking aka following the maestro of all things trendy- Virat Kohli, on social media, we know one thing for sure– never expect the ordinary from him. He has more than often stunned us both on and off-the-field! And he isn't about to stop anytime soon. In a series of probably many firsts, Virat Kohli laid another maverick off-the-field when he joined hands with PUMA to turn shoe designer and design a classic sneaker for his fans. View this post on Instagram 100% classic, 100% me! And it's finally here! I'm launching the Basket Classic one8 today. ð It's the very first sneaker that I have designed and it is simple, has a bit of cricket and is perfect for any occasion – just the way I love it! What do you guys think? ð #one8 @PumaIndia @PUMA A post shared by Virat Kohli (@virat.kohli) on Oct 18, 2018 at 12:17am PDT Often spotted flaunting his love for sneakers, Virat sure knows what he wants. Exploring their PUMA Basket collection, Virat set out to make the most of the opportunity, engaging in long conversations with the designers, adding his unique style to the design and creating a mix of comfort and style that suits him the best. Minimal and stylish, the captain of the Indian cricket team made sure that the sneakers bore more than a few elements inspired by cricket in the design. For instance, the stitched details on the kicks are inspired by the seam on a cricket ball. PUMA Opting for neutral colours that perfectly team up with every outfit, he kept the variants as simple monochromes – black and white! While the translucent outsole of the sneakers has a futuristic look, the leather upper has a retro vibe. That's a classic Virat move, mixing styles to create a unique piece. PUMA Designed by Virat for himself and his fans across, the Basket Classic one8 (available in two different colours) is one that you cannot miss. These trendy kicks are absolutely wardrobe goals for any cricket fanatic – 100% classic, 100% Virat!
It doesn't matter whether you are an iPhone user or an Android fan, you simply cannot ignore a flagship device once unveiled by Samsung. It's a smartphone where its idiosyncrasies excel beyond every user's experience whereas in terms of design it remains the same. You see, Samsung wowed the world with a beautiful bezel-less display with the Galaxy S8 and since then not much has changed with the Galaxy S9/S9+. The formula here is simple, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are largely the same devices from the inside besides a few key components. The S9 Plus is a larger device and has a dual-camera setup to be a part of the mainstream flagship circle. If you are currently looking to purchase a flagship device in the near future, you may want to pay attention to the top contender. Here's our review and why we feel it should be on your shopping list. Design and Display © Youtube One can fairly say that the Galaxy S9+ looks identical to its predecessor and to be honest, there's not much you can improve here. Samsung really killed it with its screen design last year and this year the company practically carries the same ethos. Having said that, there are a few noticeable difference such as being a bit shorter — 1.4mm to be exact. The S9 Plus also happens to be thicker than the S8+ whereas the top bezel containing the iris scanner, front-facing camera and various sensors, are slightly smaller. For once, I am happy to see Samsung doing their own thing instead of adopting the “notch” like Android companies and we feel the smartphone has its own identity. The Galaxy S9+ is not to be mistaken as a small phone and it will feel big in your pocket. The biggest improvement in design we've seen this year is the placement of the rear fingerprint scanner. It is has been moved directly below the camera sensors making it far easier to reach. © Youtube As usual, Samsung opts to install screens of the highest quality in their smartphones and the 6.2-inch OLED panel looks absolutely stunning. The colour representation is pixel-perfect and has richer colours than any OLED panel we've seen on a smartphone till date. The blacks are deeper which makes watching TV shows on Netflix much more visually appealing. Oh, let's not forget, it still has a headphone jack. Camera Performance The camera is easily one of the most important features of a flagship device and the Galaxy S9+ has a dual 12-megapixel camera at the rear. One of the lenses is wide-angle whereas the other is a telephoto lens. Both sensors have optical image stabilisation as well. However, the most impressive feature of this particular camera setup is the variable aperture of the wide-angle lens. It is capable of switching between an f-stop of 1.5 and 2.4, that inherently enables the smartphone to take better pictures in low light. The aperture adjusts according to the lighting in the environment and can be left to automatically adjust or be controlled manually in “pro” mode. © Youtube When you put everything into account, the Galaxy S9+ can take some unreliable pictures with sharp details in both wells and dimly lit environments. The low-light performance is extremely good and is caught up with the competition in terms of quality. What's new in this year's camera is the super slow motion video capture that can record a video up to 960 frames per second. That is four times the speed than any other device capable of taking slow-motion videos. You can capture slow-mo views manually while recording a video or let the automatic mode to do the job for you. Here a few samples of images and videos we took with the Galaxy S9+ at a wedding and in an aeroplane: Some shots taken using the #galaxys9plus in low light A post shared by Akshay Bhalla / Høax (@editorinchief) on Mar 12, 2018 at 2:53am PDT Some more shots taken by the #galaxys9plus A post shared by Akshay Bhalla / Høax (@editorinchief) on Mar 20, 2018 at 10:19pm PDT Super Slow-Mo Video Galaxy S9's slow mo camera in action. A post shared by Akshay Bhalla / Høax (@editorinchief) on Mar 14, 2018 at 4:40am PDT Android Oreo On A Samsung Device It is one of the first third-party devices to run Android Oreo out of the box and to be honest not much has changed since its previous iteration. The UI is almost identical to what you are accustomed to on the Galaxy S8 with a few additions. You now have Oreo's new notification system and now have the ability to duplicate apps in case you are running two sim cards on the device. You can now have two WhatsApp accounts installed on the same device and it just makes lives easier for busy people like me. The other new addition is Samsung new AR Emoji which runs almost similar to Apple's Animoji. However, Samsung has gone one step further as now you can make the animated emoji look like yourself. It picks up smiles, mouth movements, expressions and you can basically send a customised message to your friends. You can also generate a series of Gifs of your face which you can send to your friends. Fair warning though, not all your friends would want to see your animated face in their inbox. Battery Unfortunately, not everything is peachy about the Galaxy S9+ and the only thing we can complain about is the battery life. To be honest, it's not that the battery life is terrible, its the only thing we could criticise about the smartphone. The device lets you watch movies in high definition, plays heavy duty games with ease and can run multiple apps on screen with ease. © MensXP The only reason why we think the battery life isn't great is that its competition does a better job. During our test runs, the Galaxy S9 plus would last 25 hours on a single charge whereas the iPhone X will last 30 hours. Of course, it all depends on your usage however we found that Samsung could improve in this department. We used the device with the screen set to QHD+, heavy browsing, navigation and using apps for music and Netflix streaming. We also used the device for taking tons of videos and pictures and managed to make the device last longer than a full day. If there's one thing that needs improvement on this device is the short battery lifespan, especially when you compare it to other flagship devices. The Final Say If you are looking for a true flagship phone that has improved on all of its predecessor's bells and whistles, you're looking at a no-brainer here. Yes, the battery life is something that may bother you a bit but it's not going to interfere with the overall experience of the smartphone. It will easily last long enough to get through a day and to be honest, that's all you need from a flagship phone. If you love taking pictures and want to stand out from the crowd, you simply cannot ignore the Galaxy S9+. When compared to other expensive flagship devices, Samsung has a lot more to offer and it is significantly lower as it is priced at Rs 64,900.
Dubai is often called the city of skyscrapers and rightly so, as it houses the world's tallest building- the Burj Khalifa. And now, adding to its already long list of skyscrapers, Dubai now proudly houses the world's tallest hotel as well, the 'Gevora' hotel. Gevora Hotel A post shared by Gevora Hotel (@gevorahotel) on Jan 18, 2018 at 4:05am PST Thought this isn't the first time that Dubai is boasting of the tallest hotel in the world. Gevora's predecessor - Dubai's JW Mariott Marquis is just a metre short. Gevora hotel has 75 storeys and is 356 metres tall, while the JW Mariott Marquis has 72 storeys and is 355 metres tall. Gevora Hotel A post shared by Gevora Hotel (@gevorahotel) on Jan 18, 2018 at 4:08am PST If it's still difficult for you to comprehend its height and want something familiar to compare it to, then we should tell you that Gevora is three times taller than London's Big Ben and over 100 feet taller than Paris's Eiffel Tower. However, its height is not the only good thing about it- it exudes luxury at its finest. The revolving doors at the entry are gold. Quite literally so. Gevora Hotel #GuinnessWorldRecords #tallest #hotel #tallesthotel #Gevora #gevorahotel #dubai #mydubai A post shared by Gevora Hotel (@gevorahotel) on Feb 12, 2018 at 3:53am PST The hotel has 528 rooms and four restaurants. And guess what? Even the smallest room is roughly 43 square metres. Umm guys, that is not what we call small. Instagram/Gevora Hotel Honestly, we can stay in these rooms forever. Instagram/Gevora Hotel The interior designer sure did an amazing job at everything. But a major attraction is the rooftop pool. Yes, a pool that is hanging at 356 metres in the air. Anyone's vertigo kicking in? Instagram/Gevora Hotel And what's the point of making the tallest hotel in Dubai, when it won't have a view that includes the Burj Khalifa? Instagram/Gevora Hotel The Gevora Hotel has six elevators and a total of 3,859 stairs. Although it isn't exactly something to boast about but when the stairs look like this, they sure are worth a mention. Instagram/Gevora Hotel Other comforts include Jacuzzis, health club and a luxury spa which have become a necessity in hotels in today's time. Instagram/Gevora Hotel They opened their doors on 12th February. So the next time you visit Dubai, make sure you get yourself a room in the Gevora. Although it'll sure as hell burn a hole in your pocket, but at least you'd have an Instagram-worthy view and the satisfaction of being in the world's tallest hotel. So start saving up!
