  1. "Afghanistan team has come a long way and Inshallah we will strongly compete in T20 World Cup together," Azam Siddique tells Hassan Khan
  2. Released in 2011, Tanu Weds Manu starred R Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, Deepak Dobriyal, Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead roles and turned out to be a success at the box office. This was also filmmaker Aanand L Rai first hit as a director, R Madhavan’s first hit post the all-time blockbuster 3 Idiots & resurrected Kangana’s career, in a way. Four years later, its sequel was released and turned out to be a blockbuster as well at the box office. Besides Madhavan, Kangana, Deepak & Jimmy, the film also featured Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in a prominent role. © Colour Yellow Productions It’s been 7 years since the film was released and there have been several reports about its sequel. Now, we hear that there is an idea in place for Tanu Weds Manu 3, however, it may not appeal to the fans of Madhavan and even the franchise. According to Bollywood Life, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub revealed that writer Himanshu Sharma has an idea for the third part where he is planning to pair Kangana’s character with Zeeshan Ayyub’s as the film will revolve around them. He further added that Himanshu has been floating this idea around in jest for years now and there is nothing concrete about it yet. © Colour Yellow Productions When prodded further about the film, Zeeshan Ayyub said that he will ask the writer to actually write the script keeping his and Kangana’s characters as the central leads. While Kangana played the character of Tanu in the film, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub played Advocate Arun aka Chintu Kumar Singh. The two characters share a special bond in the film that turns toxic towards the end. While Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub said this all in jest, it will be interesting to see if the makers actually go ahead with this idea. © Colour Yellow Productions Meanwhile, Deepak Dobriyal who plays the character of Pappi in the film has stated time and again that he is no longer willing to return to the character that he has portrayed and immortalised twice. 3. Mohammed Shami is one of the most loved members of the Indian cricket team and one of his greatest qualities as a person is his ability to remain the true version of himself regardless of whoever he is talking about. So when he was asked about his comments on how good or bad has Rohit Sharma been ever since he was picked as Virat Kohli’s replacement as the next white-ball captain, the pacer did not try anything fancy and made sure that he wasn’t buttering up the newly appointed skipper in any shape or form. Shami made it clear that he had absolutely no opinion about Sharma’s captaincy simply because he has never played under his leadership. However, he did acknowledge the Hitman’s success as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians over the years having won five Indian Premier League titles. He further spoke about how he appreciated the captaincy of Virat Kohli talking about the kind of support he showed during his tenure. According to Shami, Kohli used to be the bowlers’ captain who used to actively participate in the decision-making process and liked to get involved with problem-solving both on and off the field. Mohammad Shami said, "I haven't played under Rohit Sharma's captaincy so I don't know about playing under him, but he has won titles for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. I hope he carries on for India in white ball cricket". (On Sports Tak). — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) February 10, 2022 The pacer added that while people become the greatest of supporters when the team is winning, for a captain it was extremely important to be by his bowlers’ side when they seem to struggle with their form and Kohli was always there for them. Upon seeing the kind of honesty with which Shami responded to the question about Sharma’s captaincy, the fans of the Indian cricket team were really happy and showed their respect and appreciation for the pacer’s candour on Twitter: Bodied . Only guy who spoke facts. As a result, Shami once again missed the chance to play under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and form an honest opinion about his skills as a captain. View the full article
  4. Virat Kohli's approach as a leader was simple, he played to win at all costs but played the game fair and square. It was under his leadership that India became a force even in overseas conditions in Tests and a big reason for that was the fast-bowlers that found their mojo in the longest format of the game. Young seamers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur all excelled under Kohli's captaincy in Test cricket and even experienced guys like Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav gave credit to the 33-year-old for giving them the freedom to express themselves on the field. Siraj called Kohli his superhero and thanked the prolific batter for believing in him and entrusting him to do well at the international circuit. A glimpse of Kohli and Siraj's bond was visible in the second Test as well when Virat had to miss the game due to a back spasm, but the pacer was in the ears of the Proteas, warning them that King Kohli will be back for the series decider. While we may not see Kohli calling the shots in international cricket, he is expected to play a key role within the leadership group across formats. View the full article
  5. When it comes to Indian cricketers, we have a reputation for not having the most stable hairlines in the game and it becomes a really big issue among the fans, especially because of the kind of influence the Men in Blue have on the game globally. During the first Test match between India and South Africa, it was the 31-year old pacer Mohammed Shami who was called out for having an irregular hairline as international cricket viewers mocked him. The general notion was that even though Shami was earning so much money, why would he not invest in improving his hairline. Shami has so much money but still hasn’t fixed that hairline — Scott Boland FC (@Carpo34) December 28, 2021 While such tweets triggered a few of the Indian fans, others managed to take the whole banter in a healthy manner and come up with some unique solutions and answers to back up the Indian paceman. From talking about how it boosts Shami’s “aerodynamics” and therefore makes his seam movement so devastating, to others seeing it forming the shape of the letter ‘W’ (for Win), desi fans were a step ahead of the critics and managed to get control of the argument in hilarious ways. It aids aerodynamics thats how he gets seam movement — Ahmed Motala (@AhmedMotalaaa) December 28, 2021His hairline is the reason behind that immaculate seam presentation. He was absolutely fine being “natural” and that it was things like this that made him such a down to earth man. Real men keep it real! — Pranit Bhandula (@pranitbhandula) December 28, 2021Hahahahaha...natural!! I think he wants to be in league of Dwayne Johnson ,Jason Statham. — Pa1 (@pavn77) December 28, 2021So down to earth — Harsh (@MindHunter04) December 28, 2021A lot of Indian cricketers have been speculated to undergo hairline treatment. While some players like Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag and Yusuf Pathan were rather open about seeking medical attention, others haven’t spoken up about it openly. However, the sudden urge of going bald, visible changes in hairlines and an increase in hair density among some of the biggest names of Indian cricket including Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have been closely noticed by Indian cricket fans all across social media before reaching the conclusion that they may have gotten hair transplant in secret. Hair transplant is a personal decision and the technology these days have made it a lot more safe and secure as a medical procedure as compared to before. While going through the process and maintenance could be an expensive affair for some, there are others who are absolutely comfortable losing all their hair and do not wish to get them back no matter how much money they have and that’s fine too! 6. Mohammed Siraj has been in excellent form and has already made an impact in the current Test against South Africa in Centurion. On Day three of five, the 27-year-old removed Rassie van der Dussen, assisting India in putting the hosts on the back foot. View this post on Instagram However, it was what the pacer did after taking the wicket that has his fans talking about his nature as an entertainer. As soon as Siraj scalped van der Dussen, he sped up, only to jump, turn around and ‘borrow’ Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature celebration. The video of the moment has ever since gone viral with fans from both the athletes discussing the inspiration the 27-year old pacer took. There were some people busy hyping the Indian cricketer up by saying that the fact that Siraj copied Ronaldo’s celebration had to be the greatest day in the life of the latter. However, the touring bowlers quickly took hold of the situation and dominated the Protea batters, dismissing the entire squad for 197 runs. For the last six overs for the day, Indian opening partners Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul returned to the pitch, hoping to recreate the chemistry they had in the first innings. However, Agarwal got caught-behind on the first delivery of the sixth over just five deliveries before the day was over. View this post on Instagram Ahead of Day 4, the Men in Blue have a 146-run lead. Based on Virat Kohli’s aggressive style of play, it can be seen that he’d expect his batters to create a big second-inning lead throughout the day and make the hosts chase it on the final day, with the hopes of taking an early 1-0 lead in the series. 7. Ever since India’s loss against Pakistan in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2021, the cricketing world was left amazed by the kind of hate Mohammed Shami got for being the one to give away the winning runs to Babar Azam. The Indian pacer was attacked for his religion and was asked to “get out of the country” simply because he ended up being the most expensive bowler for the Men in Blue on that particular day. #Shami sala besram insan india match haar rhi thi aur ye mulla hnsta hnsta full toss short ball fank kr mc rha tha katwa — Beast Expert (@expert_beast) October 25, 2021It's True shami is getting heat like mulla, pakistan chala ja , sala apne bhai ko jitwa diya . — Sushant (@bsushant__) October 25, 2021Since then, Shami’s teammates, and other celebrities have come to his support and shamed those who were senselessly criticising and individually targeting the bowler instead of blaming the entire team for the loss. Indian skipper Virat Kohli addressed these “spineless people” who sit behind fake social media IDs while creating unnecessary controversy just for clout and said that the entire team was going to stand behind Shami if something like this happens again. "Attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing one can do as a human. That is a very sacred and personal thing. People take out their frustration because they have no understanding of what we do," Kohli told the reporters in a pre-match conference on Saturday. Listening to his press conference and the sense of honesty in his voice about the brotherhood Kohli shares with Shami, former Indian skipper and cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar opened up about how he felt towards the whole situation and how he loved Kohli’s unfiltered response to the discriminators. “Those who are making such remarks, do they matter? I don’t think these faceless trolls matter. We don’t care what they have to say, because they have no identity,” said Sunil Gavaskar on India Today. Proud Strong Upward and onward pic.twitter.com/5NqknojVZj — BCCI (@BCCI) October 26, 2021 “Good to see the way Virat Kohli and other team members have rallied behind Mohammad Shami. It is a great sign. Backing each other is the key. This is what we have seen over the last week,” he added. While the last week has been about Indian cricketers getting even closer to each other as teammates and compatriots, it is time for the team to dig deep into that chemistry and take on Kane Williamson and the New Zealand cricket team in what is virtually a must-win match for both sides if they wish to move to the knockout stage of the tournament. 8. It has been exactly a week since the Indian cricket team lost their first match of the T20 World Cup 2021 against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. It has also been a week since the time Mohammed Shami was called out on the basis of his religion after giving away the match-winning runs in his over. However, since then, a lot of public figures, celebrities, and even his very own teammates have raised their voices against all the online hate Shami has been receiving over the past 6-7 days. A day before India’s match against New Zealand, skipper Virat Kohli spoke candidly about those people who were coward enough to abuse his teammate while hiding behind fake accounts. "Attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing one can do as a human. That is a very sacred and personal thing. People take out their frustration because they have no understanding of what we do," Kohli told the reporters in a pre-match conference on Saturday. "We're playing on the field, we're not a bunch of spineless people on social media. This has become a source of entertainment for some people which is very sad. All this drama created on the outside is based on people's frustrations," Kohli added. "We stand by by him 200 per cent. Our brotherhood in the team cannot be shaken." After such strong and supportive comments made by Kohli about his pacer, an old video of Shami being questioned about his loyalty towards the nation has been doing the rounds on the internet. Back in 2018, the cricketer was in the middle of an ugly separation from his now-estranged wife Hasin Jahan, who had said that Shami was part of a match-fixing incident and that she also had the proof about him taking money from a Pakistani girl to help pre-determine the result of a game. “If Md. Shami can cheat me then he can cheat the county as well. He accepted money from a Pakistani girl named Alisbah in Dubai. He agreed to accept it after the insistence of England-based Mohammed Bhai. I have proof,” Jahan had said. “I have also played with my heart, given more than 100% every time I walked on to the field. I have huge respect for security personnel guarding our border. I always think about their hardship. I would prefer to die rather before even thinking about something even remotely close to match-fixing,” Shami had gone on to address the issues about these allegations in yet another interview back then. However, it was the Indian veteran pacer Mohammed Siraj’s final over for the day during which the Pakistani duo smashed the winning runs and end India’s undefeated streak of wins over them in T20 and ODI World Cups since the inception of international cricket. Shocked by the kind of response Shami received from the Indian cricket fans after the match, former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan made an exceptionally strong statement in favour of Shami, while keeping himself, another Indian Muslim, in his shoes and expressing his feelings. Even I was part of #IndvsPak battles on the field where we have lost but never been told to go to Pakistan! I’m talking about of few years back. Indian skipper Virat Kohli refused to hide behind excuses and took the loss like a true superstar. “We didn't execute properly. Credit where it's due and Pakistan outplayed us today. They started brilliantly with the ball, and 3 wickets for 20 runs was not a good start. We needed wickets early but with the bat they gave us absolutely no chances,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony. “It played slow in the first half and hitting through the line was not that easy as it was in the second half, after 10 overs. We needed those 15-20 extra runs and for that we needed a good start but Pakistan's bowling didn't allow us to get those extra runs,” he added. View the full article

Having registered a remarkable victory at Lord’s, the Indian players went into the third Test high on confidence, however, they produced their worst performance of the ongoing series, so far, as England bowled them out for 78 runs in the first innings. © Twitter/Siraj Watching their team dominate the play, some of the English supporters in the stands decided to have a go at the Indian players, especially Mohammed Siraj. From chanting slogans to throwing a ball at Siraj, the English fans tried everything but they couldn’t get under his skin. In fact, it was Siraj who made them look like fools with his befitting response. © Twitter The hilarious incident took place during the 39th over of England innings. Siraj was guarding the fence and behind him were English supporters who kept chirping throughout. With India on the backfoot in the ongoing Test, the hostile crowd kept on asking Siraj about the score, in order to get some kind of response out of him. Like a champion player that he is, Siraj did fulfil their wish, just that his reply wasn’t something they had expected. After the constant provocation, the RCB pacer turned towards the crowd and shut them down with his epic reply using just his fingers. Signalling ‘1-0’ with his hands he reminded them that his India are ahead in the five-match series at the moment, while the hosts are still struggling to open their account. Nothing went as per plan for India on the opening day of the third Test at Headingley. But all of us who follow Test cricket know how quickly things can change hands in a matter of a few sessions and that is the beauty of the traditional format of the game. © Twitter/BCCI Like we have seen in the past, this Indian team is capable of bouncing back and with plenty of time left in the match, even England skipper Joe Root knows that he can’t count them off after just one bad day in the office. 13. The second Test between India and England was an edge-of-the-seat thriller from start to end. Apart from high-quality cricket, the Test match had several moments that made it an exciting watch till the very end. Not just with their skills, the players from both sides employed several other techniques to outclass each other. There were so many instances of players coming face to face that it was impossible to keep a count and that’s the reason why we are still seeing videos of various incidents that went unnoticed, even though the match ended five days ago. © Reuters Having seen their players getting sledged by the England bowlers, the Indian players were all charged up and extra-motivated to give them a taste of their own medicine and they attacked the English batters like a wolf pack. England veteran fast bowler James Anderson, who was involved in a heated exchange with Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Day 4, got the special welcome when he walked out to bat on the last day of the match. Siraj and Kohli pic.twitter.com/BmRUcw95aV — Simran (@CowCorner9) August 20, 2021 A video which has gone viral shows Kohli pointing towards his forehead, perhaps suggesting fast bowler Mohammed Siraj to welcome the England legend to the crease with a bouncer. Siraj, who was on fire having picked three wickets in the second innings, also responded by tapping his hand to his head, which reminded us of Ajay Devgn’s famous dialogue from Bollywood movie ‘Singham’ -- ‘Aata Majhi Satakli’. © Reuters Unlike England, who lost their discipline trying to take revenge from Indian tail-enders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, the Indian team was more focused on winning the match than anything else. The unbeaten 89-run partnership between Bumrah and Shami for the ninth wicket gave the visitors a perfect platform to launch their final assault because they knew England would need a miracle to chase down the total. © Reuters The hosts were playing to save the match and Anderson was the last man standing between a draw and India’s victory. Having coped a barrage of bouncers from Bumrah in the first innings, Anderson expected something similar in the second innings and was waiting deep inside his crease for a bouncer. © Instagram/Indian Crciket Team But Siraj, taking a clue from his skipper, outfoxed him with a full delivery that angled in sharply and took the top of his off stump, handing India a memorable 151-run victory at the ‘Home of Cricket’. 14. Ever since Mohammed Siraj made his debut for the Indian cricket team in Test cricket format back in Australia earlier this year, the pacer has only become better and better with time. From utilising the fresh ball to his advantage to bring the intensity along with him for every single delivery of the match, the 27-year old is exactly the kind of bowler Virat Kohli needed by his side against teams like England. View this post on Instagram While not everyone would be in favour of his methods, it is a consensus that whenever Siraj takes command of the ball, the chances of his team snagging another wicket are always around the corner. Siraj once again proved his worth during the second Test between India and England at the Lord’s cricket ground in London when he scalped four wickets in both the first and the second innings of the match, while dismissing some of the biggest names like Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler. So, I will only let my ball do the talking and hence this is my new style of celebration,” Siraj said at the virtual press conference after the third day’s play. According to the video shared by Twitter user @iBM1105, the cutout, which is as high as three floors, could be seen right in the middle of a street surrounded by people and scaffolding for safety purposes. 15. Regardless of what haters say, one has to agree that the most improved bowler in the Indian cricket team has to be Mohammed Siraj, who has grown by leaps and bounds to become a vital cog of the machine that the Indian bowling attack is. In the second Test between India and England at the iconic Lord’s stadium, Siraj once again proved his worth and gave the Men in Blue fans to start having him in their fantasy league teams if they wish to win big. View this post on Instagram Four wickets in the first innings and four more in the second, the 27-year-old brought the intensity to the floor that his team needed to succeed, especially on the final day when time was running out and all India needed was 10 wickets to get themselves a 1-0 lead in the series. While Siraj’s destructive bowling is a great asset to have, there is one more weapon that Virat Kohli’s Team India possesses and it is absolutely dreaded by their English rivals - Siraj’s stare. That Stare From Siraj #ENGvsIND pic.twitter.com/NPxwtBHLNs — (@ImVishwanath13) August 16, 2021 Every single time the paceman scalped someone’s wicket at Lord’s, he made sure that he would make the batsman feel miserable about themselves. As soon as the umpire would lift the finger, the first thing Siraj would do is rush towards his prey and look him in the eye. What’s different about what Siraj does as compared to some of the other aggressive pacers is that holds his stare for a really (really) long time. Just in case the dismissed batsman gathers enough courage to make eye contact with him once again. That stare from #Siraj What a match!!! #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/JHBI8eeeeC — ThatFanBoy (@SiddhuYour) August 16, 2021 Dom Sibley, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Haseeb Hameed, or even tailender James Anderson, regardless of who got their bails ripped off or got trapped for an LBW, they were going to get the stare, Siraj ensured it. Watching the trend build up, it didn’t take long for the Indian fans to start talking about it online. Here’s how many of them reacted: #IndvsEng THAT DAMN STARE BY SIRAJ! Siraj you beauty — Sonali (@samtanisonali1) August 16, 2021 "The thing with batsmen is that, while they are facing fast bowlers, they keenly follow the body language of the bowlers. When they feel that the bowlers are a little tired, the batsman feels he can score runs maybe after a couple of balls. But with Siraj, it did not happen. Till the end, he looked like picking a wicket every ball. And with that, he did allow England batsmen to rest," Sunil Gavaskar said on the Sony Sports Network. "It was brilliant bowling. He put his all into it. As a bowler, he did everything – picked up wickets and bowled long spells. From the first ball till the last, there is no shortage of energy in his run-up. With bowlers, you can figure when someone is in rhythm and that produces results. Right now, he has the figures and the performance," said Ashish Nehra on the same broadcast. View the full article
  16. Mohammed Siraj has sure come a long way in his career as a pacer. From being the butt of jokes to becoming Virat Kohli’s main man in Royal Challengers Bangalore to making a name for himself in the Indian squad, the pacer has ensured everyone knows his name. Siraj, who is currently with the Indian team playing in the ongoing Test series against the hosts, England, has been steadily taking wickets, but what caught our attention was his new style of celebration after sending a batsman back to the pavilion. © Reuters In his first appearance at Lord’s, where the second Test is underway, Siraj picked up 4 for 94 in the first innings, and people could not help but notice his style of putting his finger on his lips after dismissing batsmen. © Reuters When asked as to why he was doing so, Siraj’s reason was nothing short of impressive: "This story (celebration) is for the haters (critics) because they used to say a lot of things about me, like he cannot do this and cannot do that. So, I will only let my ball do the talking and hence this is my new style of celebration," Siraj said after the third day's play of the second Test at the virtual post-day press conference. The pacer further spoke about the importance of having four fast bowlers on the team: “It was important (to play with fourth fast bowler), because we have taken three wickets at the start and our fast bowlers were effective and bowling consistently in one area. The role of fast bowlers is important in England because when you come to England, you want to try things, but our plan here was to be consistent and bowl at one place”. © Reuters Meanwhile, India managed to post a sizeable 364 in the first innings thanks to a brilliant 129-run knock by KL Rahul, however, later on, England skipper Joe Root struck an unbeaten 180 to help England post 391 and take a 27-run lead. Earlier this year, Siraj became a national name after the 27-year-old decided to stay back with the team in Australia and play for his country despite hearing the tragic news of his father’s death. “When I lost my father during the Australia tour, both Ravi sir and bowling coach Bharat Arun sir were so supportive. Ravi sir came to me and said ‘Tu test match khel, dekh tereko 5 wickets milega. Tere Daddy ka dua tera saath hoga (You play the test match. You will get 5 wickets as your father’s blessings will be with you). Match ke baad Ravi sir ne bahut khus hokar bola, tujhe bola tha na 5 wickets milega (I told that you will be getting five wickets). I became very confident after my coaches encouraged me in such a way,” Siraj told ABP news. View the full article
  17. The very unusual practice match between the Indian cricket team and the County Select XI in Durham got over Day 2 of 3 with the visiting side getting the upper hand once again as the FCCXI were all out for 220 and trailing by 91 runs in the first innings. Unusual because of multiple reasons such as the fact that it took Team India to scalp just 9 wickets to “all-out” the other side. This was, essentially, because Avesh Khan, who was asked to play for the County XI after two of their players were ruled out at the end moment with the COVID-19 virus, got injured on Day 1 and there was no one else to bat at the 11th spot. Ceasing such a rare opportunity to get in some casual banter with his own teammate playing for the other side, pacer Mohammed Siraj decided to stare Sundar down (and probably even say a few words which couldn’t be heard or seen due to the camera angle) after the very first ball he bowled to him because quietly going back for his run-up. © YouTube/Durham Cricket This seemed to have split the Indian cricket fans into two very different sides. 18. The weather forecasts for the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand aren’t encouraging at all, with rain predicted to play spoilsport throughout the match. Despite the overcast conditions, Team India went in with three pacers and two specialist spinners, whereas the New Zealand line-up didn’t have a single spinner, as they went in with four front-line fast bowlers and a seaming all-rounder. Virat Kohli and team management announced the playing XI on the eve of the match but had the chance to alter the line-up after no action was possible on the opening day, including the toss. It is hard on Siraj but Ishant's incredible numbers over the last few years and, I suspect, confidence in his current fitness level, have tilted it in his favour. This is as complete a bowling attack as you can get — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 17, 2021 A complete washout on the opening day provided India with an opportunity to possibly alter their playing XI and include an extra seamer, but the management decided against it and went in with the same combination. Having seen the Indian bowlers struggle for wickets on the third day, one couldn’t help but wonder if India really missed the trick by not including Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI as his ability to swing the ball both ways would have definitely made him a lethal choice. Here are the problems that emerged in Mohammed Siraj’s absence: 1. Lack Of Quality Swing Bowlers © Instagram Mohammed Siraj The three fast bowlers Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami that India played in the game are primarily the ‘hit-the-deck-hard’ types and they rely on their bounce, more than anything, to trouble the batsman, whereas Siraj’s strength lies in his swing and the conditions in Southampton would have completely suited his style to bowling. Despite toiling hard, Bumrah, Ishant and Shami couldn’t even generate half of the seam movement that New Zealand bowlers managed during their bowling. 2. Struggle For Ideal Length © Instagram Mohammed Siraj One explanation as to why Indian fast bowlers weren’t as effective as their counterparts could be because they struggled to find their ideal length on the pitch. They bowled comparatively short-of-length which made it easy for the New Zealand batsmen to either defend or shoulder arms and let it pass into wicketkeeper’s gloves. Pitching the ball a little but higher up would’ve forced the batsmen into the drive, something all NZ bowlers especially Kyle Jamieson did extremely well and reaped the rewards. Siraj is also known for bowling in the same channel and his presence would have definitely made India a more potent bowling attack. 3. Excessive Burden On The Three Pacers © Reuters Playing two spinners together meant longer spells for the three Indian fast bowlers, and it affected their recovery. The conditions were more suitable for the pacers but Kohli had only three of them at his disposal, which made it difficult for him to give them enough rest in between spells. Kane Williamson, on the other hand, was able to manage the workload of his quicks because he had plenty of options to pick from. Bumrah was nowhere near his best and conceded over three runs per over and that aggravated India’s problems even further. 4. India Bowled With Four Bowlers © Reuters In order to rest his fast bowlers, Kohli was left with no choice but to bring in Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled nicely and also gave India their first breakthrough. But if you would have asked any batsman to pick between a pacer and a spinner as to who he would like to face, his answer would have been a no-brainer. Kohli also realised this and that’s why he didn’t bring Jadeja into the attack for so long and made him bowl only three overs which meant India managed the day with only four bowlers. 19. When it comes to playing the game of cricket with passion and leaving everything on the field, not a lot of players come close to the India skipper Virat Kohli’s level. The aggression with which he fields, the excitement he shows after one of his bowlers gets a wicket, the josh remains unparalleled. These reactions can have polarising effects on the viewers who are either completely in favour of the captain and back him up a hundred percent, or they feel that these are just a bunch of theatrical stunts Kohli pulls in order to grab more and more eyeballs. For Indian pacer and Kohli’s teammate, Mohammed Shami though, it feels as if he doesn’t enjoy his own achievements more than his leader does! In a conversation with India TV, Shami spoke at length about Kohli’s animated reactions to anything and everything cricket-related. Find Justin Langer's comments on Virat Kohli's "over-the-top" c;elebrations quite funny! Virat's "animated celebrations" haven't offended Match Referee, nor has he cheated or used any sandpaper then why are the Aussies casting aspersions on him #IndvsAus — Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) December 8, 2018 “Fast bowlers are very aggressive, both old and new. But the one player who could probably emulate their aggression is our own captain! Sometimes, when a picture of Virat’s celebration of a wicket goes viral on social media, I funnily ask him, “Was it my wicket or yours?” Shami said. “He celebrates more than the bowlers! Sometimes he points out that you don’t look too happy with the wicket, so I simply tell him, “You did all the celebration for me! But it is important to have fun on the field. Virat shows aggression, obviously, but as a unit, he has led the team brilliantly so far. In addition, he is a very aggressive batsman too,” added the Indian pace-man. View this post on Instagram Shami would then go on to compare Kohli’s aggressiveness with the cool and mellow nature of the deputy in command, Rohit Sharma. “Rohit is a different character. He is a cool person, except when he comes to bat!” feels Shami. “But he is a very positive person. Even as a bowler, when I go to him for advice, he always gives positive answers. Rohit always pushes the bowlers to do what their mind tells them to, irrespective of how the batsman is playing or his strong points. I think that is very important for the confidence of a fast bowler.” View this post on Instagram Kohli and Sharma, the two titans of the Men in Blue will be seen in action in England when they face-off Kane Williamson and the New Zealand roster in a one-off World Test Championship match between 18 and 22 June.
