Featuring Alia Bhatt in the titular role, the much-hyped film has been performing well at the box office since the first day of its release. In the first weekend, Bhansali's ambitious project collected Rs. 39.12 crores in the domestic market. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Gangubai Kathiawadi has now become Bollywood's second-highest Monday grosser post coronavirus pandemic. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif's Sooryavanshi, which was released last year after the second wave, is on the first spot with the first Monday collections of Rs. 14.51 crores. It is to be noted that the sports drama released amid the Omicron scare and underperformed at the box office.
