  1. Sharib Hashmi’s mantra for aspiring actors is to start following their ambitions early in their life and not wait as he did. We have now seen him as JK Talpade in The Family Man 2 and it’s not wrong to say that we can’t imagine the show without his character, because he has done a commendable job displaying his powerful acting skills and also adding humour to the show. View this post on Instagram His journey has been a roller-coaster ride and he has dealt with many obstacles until he was finally able to make a mark. From almost giving up his passion for acting to making JK a hit character on the show, Sharib has made a separate fan base altogether. His journey started from the chawls in Mumbai and Sharib’s father ZA Johar was a noted film journalist. His father wanted him to pursue acting after he finished his degree in Economics from Bhavan’s college. View this post on Instagram In an interview with Your Story, he said, “While my parents were of the impression that I am good-looking, I had no such delusions. Also, even for character roles, I felt my height would be a problem. I just naively gave up on my dream without pursuing it.” He got his first job as an Assistant Director to Nabh Kumar Raju for the film Hum Tumpe Marte Hai in 1998. In the same interview, he shared his experience working with the stars of that era. “It is something that taught me a lot about the art of filmmaking. I have no formal training in acting or direction, so I learn everything on the sets. And the first film I worked on had stellar actors like Govinda, Urmila Matondkar, Dimple Kapadia, and Paresh Rawal. For a film buff like me, it was a dream come true. I want to become a director.” View this post on Instagram He then went on to become a writer and wrote VJ links for MTV. He kept at it and it was in 2007 that he landed a role in Slumdog Millionaire. He then wanted to follow his passion for acting for real. He gave hundreds of auditions but was rejected in many, leaving him disheartened but he kept trying. In an interview with Times Of India, he said, “When it comes to rejection, I have faced a lot of them, in fact, I have used these rejections as a motivating factor to work harder, fight back, and to become better each day. I always take these rejections very positively and it has helped me in becoming a better person and growing stronger in my craft.” View this post on Instagram When things didn’t work, he had to leave his passion and look for a job as he was married and also had a child. His wife was supporting him but he still had to have a job to keep the house running. He again tried his luck in films but things changed when he got to call from the casting director of Yash Raj Films - Shanoo Sharma. After giving an audition for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, he got the role of Zain, and at the same time, he bagged a role in Filmistaan. He even won the Best Actor in a comic role, Screen Award for his role in Filmistaan. Things changed for good for the actor and after this, he didn’t look back and went on to do many other roles. He finally landed the role of JK Talpade in The Family Man. He has been a part of both seasons and would be continuing with his character in the third season too. View this post on Instagram We wish only the best for the actor and we think his amazing journey actually has the potential to be documented as a film, such has been his struggle. 2. There was a time when Rock Star Yash was immensely popular, but predominantly among the audiences of the southern film industries, mainly, the Kannada speaking one. However, in the last few years, that has changed completely. © Hombale Films Now, Yash enjoys a massive fan base even in Hindi-speaking regions. Apart from having a great sense of style and fashion, a great sense of grooming and a charisma that just grips onto you, he, obviously, is a very gifted actor. © Instagram/thenameisyash Here are some of his best movies that his fans swear by, which is clearly why fans of Kannada movies just can’t enough of him 1. Drama © Jayanna Combines Drama is a romantic comedy thriller, and of the finest films that the Kannada film industry has made in the last decade or so. Yash plays the character of a student who has set out to avenge his girlfriend being slapped by the college principal. What ensues is a comically charged but gripping story. The movie performed extremely well at the Box Office and garnered largely positive reviews from critics. 2. Moggina Manasu © E. K. Entertainers One of Yash’s earliest films, Moginna Manasu is again, based around the life of college students and deals with themes like love, friendship, and the everyday struggles that students face. The movie is shot from the perspective of one of the women in the group of friends and tells a very poignant story. This film too was a massive hit at the box office, and much appreciated by critics. 3. Raja Huli © Lakshmisri Combines Yash plays the titular character in this one, who’s the son of a rich landlord in a village. Like the previous two films, the themes of friendship and love are vital aspects in this film as well. Yash’s character gets falsely implicated in a murder, and how he proves his innocence is what the movie is about. Again, it did phenomenally well, beating out Krrish 3 in Bangalore, on the week of its release. 4. Mr & Mrs Ramachari © Jayanna Combines Released back in 2014, Mr & Mrs Ramachari is a run of the mill, hardcore romantic drama film, which is also quite comically charged. It had one of the wildest box office runs down south. So much so, that there were a number of remakes in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil & Telugu. 5. Googly © Jayanna Combines Again, a romantic drama that Yash featured in, Googly released in 2013 and is one of the first films from Yash that was dubbed in Hindi. The Hindi-dubbed version for TV was a massive hit across India. Yash plays the role of a brilliant student, who falls in love with a girl, gets his heart broken due to a misunderstanding, becomes a successful businessman, and tries to reconcile things with his ex. The movie is your typical masala, romantic entertainer. Still, so good was the audience response to it, that it is being remade in Bengali. Apparently, a sequel to the original is also in the works. 6. KGF: Chapter 1 © Hombale Films And finally, there is KGF: Chapter 1. You must have been living under a rock if you didn’t see this coming. Thanks to its pan India release, and OTT platforms, KGF took Indian filmgoers by storm. Without a doubt, it was one of the best messianic stories we have had in a really long time. Furthermore, it really established, just how capable Yash is, as an actor. Just look at the excitement people have when they talk about KGF: Chapter 2, and you’ll get what we’re on about. The Bottom Line… We know that there certainly are more films where Yash’s performance was commendable. However, for someone who’s just getting into Kannada films, and has started exploring Yash’s movies, this is the perfect list to follow. View the full article
  3. For fantasy lovers, Lord Of The Rings remains one of the greatest, if not THE BEST, movie series that has ever been made. This perhaps is the only series that has garnered equal (if not more) appreciation as the book series - which in itself is a feat worth applause. For anyone who has watched them, it wouldn't have come as a surprise - such is the sheer brilliance of the movies. via GIPHY Naturally, when we heard that a brand new LOTR movie has been announced, this is kinda how we reacted. via GIPHY You can't blame us and you know it. Anyway, let's get to business and spill all that we know about it. via GIPHY To start with, we already know the name. The movie is called Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim. Clearly, it's self explanatory what it's based on from the name itself. The Rohirrim refer to the people of Rohan - the horsemen and the horse lords we saw in The Two Towers, and then also in the fierce battle of the Pelennor Fields. via GIPHY The second most important thing is, it is going to be an anime feature, which is reportedly being directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who is the name behind heavy duty projects such as Blade Runner: Black Lotus as well as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. via GIPHY Reportedly, The War Of The Rohirrim will deal with a story that essentially is a prequel to the trilogy, and is set 260 years before the events of the same. The history of Helm's Deep is supposed to be explored in this one, where the famous battle had taken place in The Two Towers. via GIPHY As of now, even though casting of voice artists is reported to be underway, there has not been any announcement on who exactly will be joining the cast. As far as the date is concerned, the project apparently is being fast tracked and the aim is to release it around the same time as Amazon's LOTR series, or perhaps even sooner. via GIPHY All we can say is: THANK YOU! Please give us more reasons to look forward to continuing living, just like this. View the full article
  4. After Manmarziyaan and Judgementall Hai Kya, you have an idea that if Kanika Dhillon is on board as a writer, the movie will not disappoint and she always brings something new to the table. Haseen Dillruba’s trailer starring Tapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Harshvardhan Rane is finally out and Kanika has raised the bar even higher. © Eros International It has drama, humour, mystery, and all the elements that will make the movie an interesting watch. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai is producing the movie through his banner Colour Yellow Production in collaboration with Eros International and Himanshu Sharma. He had earlier said, “Haseen Dillruba is a murder mystery within a twisted love story, a genre we have not explored before. Really looking forward to entertaining and engage the audience with this edgy script.” © Eros International After watching the trailer, we truly agree with what Rai had mentioned in his statements. In the trailer, you see Taapsee playing the character of Rani who is married to Vikrant Massey's Rishu. After Rishu is killed in an explosion, police doubts Rani and think she might be the culprit. There are also hints of Rani’s affair with Harshvardhan’s character. Here’s the trailer: As we are intrigued and impressed by the trailer, most people are also echoing the same emotions and are loving it. They have already declared it a masterpiece and are rooting for performances by the three versatile actors. Here are the reactions: © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © YouTube/Netflix © YouTube/Netflix © YouTube/Netflix In a statement released by Netflix, Taapsee said, “Haseen Dillruba was a film I had a very strong gut feeling about the day I heard the basic idea from Kanika. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the first choice for the film and it came to me after all their options were exhausted. And the good old saying that, if it’s meant for you it will come to you stands true for this case. It’s not just a beautifully written mystery, it has such wonderful characters involved which is candy in an actor’s hands. I am glad I got to experiment with my look and performance with this one because I am definitely not the go-to person for this kind of character conventionally and we all love to take risks here.” © Eros International Harvardhan added, “I am honoured to be in the same frame with some of our country's finest talent. Taapsee and Vikrant, have one thing in common I could never make out if they were joking or if they were serious. I always had to look for tiny nuances to understand the pretext. Working on Haseen Dillruba also gave me a chance to associate with the best filmmakers, be it Aanand L Rai sir, Vinil sir, and Kanika ma'am. I was blown away with the script, a classic whodunit that will keep you guessing until the very end.” We are excited about the movie. What about you? Let us know in the comments section below. 5. No matter which movie you pick, Batman has one of the most iconic costumes among all superheroes. One of the main aspects of Batman's costumes has to be the pointy ears on his cowl. © Warner Bros. Pictures But have you ever imagined how the caped crusader would look like, without his pointy ears? Well, a Twitter user did, and he Photoshopped and removed the ears from some of the most iconic movie Batmans, and we have to say, they look silly. A few of them, actually look downright scary. batman with ears = cool batman without ears = not cool batman is cool because of his ears pic.twitter.com/iaBFH70Dsn — Ryan George (@theryangeorge) May 19, 2021 The images are a testament to how the smallest detail in costumes can make the biggest impact. They can in fact make or break a character. Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, in his regular, mesh Batsuit, looks more like a bird than a proper bat. It looks a little silly, and not at all scary or aggressive, as Batman is supposed to look like. © Twitter/theryangeorge Then there’s Michael Keaton’s version of the Batman, which again, looks silly, and a little campier. Thanks to the sharp lines of his cowl, Keaton’s Batman still looks a little aggressive, and can somewhat pass off as a Batsuit. © Twitter/theryangeorge The weirdest looking of them all has to be the one that Christian Bale wore for The Dark Knight. He straight up looks like an alien from the Predator movies, or worse yet, in some instances like one of those zombies from I am Legend. With that being said, it doesn’t look as silly as the other two. Moreover, it definitely looks a little scarier than usual. © Twitter/theryangeorge Looking at a Batman without his pointy ears, especially the one with Christian Bale, is a really shocking and jarring image, and certainly wouldn’t sit well with fans. Although there have been a number of customisations and “improvements” in the Batsuit over the films and over the years, we’re glad that no one at Warner Bros. approved the idea of getting rid of Batman’s ears. That would have been a disaster. © Warner Bros. Pictures It will be really lucky to see how audiences react to Robert Pattinson’s Batman, with his short, thin and extra pointy ears. © Just Jared Twitter users meanwhile, had some pretty hilarious reactions to the ‘earless’ Batman. Batman without ears is space ghost pic.twitter.com/hwlBvjTTQt — The J-Man (@JManOrRiot) May 19, 2021 That’s a weird fetish, it seems... I'd watch a movie where his ears go on a solo adventure. — Chris Jags (@ChrisJagged) May 19, 2021 Didn’t know about this one... You're literally describing Midnighter from DC comics. 7. There are some really weird and fun jobs in the world that you wouldn't know about. And when you do get to know, you’d either want to quit or be thankful for your job. These include beer tasters, professional sleeper and pet food tasters. Not many people are aware of these cool/not so cool jobs. As it turns out, a ‘condom tester’ is another high paying job and Rakul Preet Singh is playing one in her next film. © Instagram/iStock In a country where there is a lot of stigma attached to ***, even uttering the word 'condom' invites gasps and weird looks. To break the taboo and normalise the conversation around it, Tejas Deoskar, the director of the yet-to-be-named film, has roped in Rakul to play a condom tester and aims to educate the audience about the use and importance of protection with his comedy. © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh He told a publication, “Our film is a social family entertainer, which aims at destigmatising the use of condoms and for this one, I always believed Rakul was the best suited for the character. She brings freshness to every role that she portrays and with a sensitive, thought-provoking subject like this, she was our first choice. Rakul was thrilled when she was approached for the film. She heard the narration and immediately agreed to do it.” © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh We looked it up. It is a legit job that pays up to Rs 21 lakhs per year! Condom companies like Durex hire people above 18 years of age as their quality control executive to test the safety, durability and performance of the product. As they say, do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do! © Instagram/iStock The makers of the film reportedly reached out to Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday for the role but both turned it down as they felt it was a rather ‘bold’ subject. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies, the film might be called Chhatriwaali, and will have an OTT release. Talking about the role, Rakul told an entertainment portal, “It's very exciting and I am very thrilled about that film because it's important to sort of highlight some issues in a light-hearted way and that has got me pretty excited. But for now, that will happen towards the end of the year.” © Instagram/Rakul Preet Singh Are you excited about the movie? View the full article
  8. Ever since Marvel Studios kicked off with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it has been raining superheroes, and it certainly doesn't look like stopping anytime soon. © Marvel Studios We all know that the DC Universe too, under the helm of Warner Bros has been trying to step up their game with movies like Man of Steel, Justice League, Suicide Squad and the upcoming Batman solo film featuring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. © Warner Bros. Well, now what looks destined to be added to that list is the Batgirl solo movie, which has now found its new directors in Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo which was behind the third instalment of the Bad Boys series. © DC Comics According to reports, the Morocco-born director duo signed the deal with Warner Bros. for the Batgirl project, which also has Christina Hodson on board as the film's screenwriter. © Discussingfilm Hodson, who has already worked with Warner Bros on Birds of Prey and The Flash, has already penned the script of the Batgirl film, which is planned as an HBO Max original. Produced by Kristin Burr, the movie will centre around the story of Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham Police commissioner James Gordon, as Batgirl, the integral female member of the Bat-Family. © Screen Rant "With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham. Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Bat project. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.” said Burr. Barbara Gordon's Batgirl character is a very popular figure in the comics and the Batman animated TV series, with the vigilante working closely together with Batman, Robin, and Nightwing to bring justice to Gotham. © Batman Animated Series Now, with DC's Wonder Woman already getting such a positive reception by both critics and fans, we cannot wait for what Batgirl will bring to the DC cinematic universe. 9. If you had looked at the IMDB top rated world movie list a few days ago, you probably would have had a few disagreements here and there based on your personal preferences, but you surely wouldn't have been shell-shocked as an Indian. Let's say that bit has changed now, as a Tamil movie has soared up in the rankings to occupy the 3rd spot in the best rated movie list. © IMDB Soorarai Pottru released last year, and has an impressive starcast that includes Suriya, Madhavan, and (wait for it) Paresh Rawal. The film was partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath. While the project was announced in mid-2018, under the working title Suriya 38, the official title Soorarai Pottru was announced on 13 April 2019. The film is directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga. © Amazon Prime Video While it slowly crawled its way up there, without making much noise, Twitter did not disappoint with its ever watchful eyes. 11. 2021 was supposed to be the year of comebacks for the entertainment industry. With so many good scripts lined up, most of us got pretty pumped up for the release of these movies in the theatres. However, with the second wave of Covid-19 having the nation in its clutches, it's back to square one for Bollywood, which means people sitting at home and waiting for the release of movies on OTT platforms. © Instagram/Salman Khan One movie that certainly piqued a lot of interest, is Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. The Salman Khan starrer's trailer was released on April 22nd and if we go by the scenes in the trailer, the story revolves around the drug mafia and the surge in the rate of crime in Mumbai. © Instagram/Salman Khan In a recent interview, Salman Khan spoke about his upcoming movie. The drug issue has been a topic of conversation ever since the demise of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A lot of names came forward from the industry which led to a full-fledged investigation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Several filmmakers, as well as actors, were summoned during the time. © Instagram/Salman Khan Salman cleared the air by saying that the shoot of his movie was finished before the investigation started. He said "It has been a problem for a long time. Even before this drugs investigation took over Maharashtra, we had already completed shooting the film. But now it became relevant. I have always been against drugs. Here, people are misusing it. We have nieces and nephews who are very young and might get influenced,” He further added "As soon as you take it, you are done...your body and mind both will want it so you will have to be ten times stronger. But most of them don't have that in them to do that. Families go through problems, then siblings go through problems. So in Radhe, we have touched upon this subject...a man who goes on to clean up the city,” © Instagram/Salman Khan Mostly, every year on Eid, Salman's fans would be treated to a new release of his, but this year will be completely different. Salman also urged his fans to stay safe at home, and not crowd outside his home. He said "It will be very different. Everyone will be in their own rooms. I live downstairs and mum and dad live upstairs. Family like my brothers and sisters will come. I hope there is no crowd outside my house or any star's house. Nobody should be there." Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai also stars Disha Patani in the lead role, along with Jackie Shroff, Randeep Hooda. The film was originally slated to release on Eid in 2020 but was pushed due to the pandemic. The movie will release now on Zeeplex and several other platforms. View the full article

Named after a Korean herb, Minari is a tender, funny, evocative ode to how one generation of a family risks everything to plant the dreams of the next and how they hope they can make their dreams come true in a strange land. © A24 While in its basic outlines Minari might seem to be a story we know—a tale of immigrants making a go at their own vision of the American Dream—director Lee Isaac Chung brings a fresh and illuminating take. Within the film’s at playful, powerful and candidly detailed family remembrances comes a larger story: the impact of the journey on a new generation of migrants. © A24 Minari first came into focus for Lee Isaac Chung when it hit him just how much he yearned to tell his young daughter about where he came from, what it took for his parents to come to America, and what family—in all its messiness but also its mysterious grace notes—means to him. 14. Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise may not be part of the Marvel or DC film universe, but he is a real-life example of an actor who almost boasts a superhuman status when it comes to working in films. Whether it is climbing on top of the Burj Khalifa, jumping buildings, holding his breath underwater for 6 minutes, flying a plane, or jumping off one, the 58-year-old actor has everything under his belt. © Netflix Recently, Bill Bennett, who was the camera operator on Cruise's 1988 film Cocktail, revealed exactly how the Top Gun actor saved the life of his co-star Elisabeth Shue by stopping her from walking into a spinning helicopter blade. According to Bennett, who now works as a TV and commercial cinematographer, the incident occurred when Cruise and Shue were shooting an aerial scene from a helicopter. © Touchstone Pictures "But by that time he is pointing at the tail rotor which is now a couple of feet away, screaming at her that she almost died. At that point, she turned white, and he pulled her back towards the front of the helicopter and they walked away. All of us in the helicopter were quite shaken up by the close call, but there was nothing to be said. Tom had, in that instant, truly saved her life." said Bennett. Well, we wonder if Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also read this piece of news and calls Tom and says the iconic words, "Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept." View the full article
