Not on social media, not on a platform like Lock Upp. This is not something I want to talk about.” After Munnawar’s refusal to talk about the picture, Kangana said, “Every girl falls into the charm of married men. I speak from personal experience. I am not talking about you, but maybe it happens because they (married men) are domesticated and they are more understanding. They are responsible and have that aura around them that charms young women.” She added, “Wo kahani bana ke rakhte hain ki kahaan phans gaya, bechara hoon. Same story (Such men have stories of being trapped and they tell similar stories to the wife and the young girl).” At this point, Munnawar interrupted Kangana and stated that it isn’t the same story. © Kangana Ranaut Instagram Responding to him, the actress said, “I am not talking about you but many girls will relate, girls who are at a young age. Mere saath kafi bada scandal ban gayi. Aisa lagta hai biwi se aap hi bacha sakte ho, but biwi ki sun lo to kaan se khoon nikal aaye (It became a huge scandal in my life. The young girls feel they are the only ones who can save the married man from his wife. But, if you hear the wife's story, you'd be shocked).” Well, the “scandal” that Kangana is hinting at indeed made headlines nationwide & beyond and was a point for discussion on social media for years. 3. Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming reality show Lock Upp has been making headlines ever since it was announced. The show which will be hosted by Kangana Ranaut is touted to be as controversial as it gets. Recently, it was announced that stand up comedian Munawar Faruqui will be one of the contestants on the show. Soon after the announcement was made, a lot of people including his fans expressed disappointment and wondered why he decided to work with Kangana as they come from different ideologies and have been at loggerheads in the past. © Alt Balaji In a recent interview with Indian Express, Munawar opened up about coming on board for Lock Upp, joining hands with Kangana and the controversies surrounding him. “I thought it would be my getaway but I have been told they have planned bigger torture for us,” Munawar said. He then added, “Honestly, there are fans who follow you, and there are people who hate you for no reason. Then, there are some who don’t really know you. This show is not just about me as people may tune in for the host and the other contestants. However, they will also get to know me. I have always been a real person and I think with this show, you will see my unfiltered personality.” When asked why decided to participate in a show that will be highly controversial, he responded, “Firstly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong in being controversial. It only means that people did not hear your side of the story, or maybe you were taken out of context. I never wanted to be a part of controversies. I never went and told the media my statement to cause some bawaal (commotion). The part of my video that had hurt people, I removed it immediately. It was the public that played it around for a year and made it news. I never wanted to be controversial, they made me so. I was happy doing comedy and celebrating my 100 million numbers.” © Alt Balaji Lock Upp will stream on Alt Balaji and MX Player for free from February 27. View the full article

  6. Days after stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui made headlines after he revealed that his 12 shows have been cancelled in the last two months, another stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has now shared a statement on social media where he has mentioned that his shows in Bengaluru scheduled over a span of 20 days have been cancelled. While Munawar claimed that the reason for the cancellation of his shows was the "threat to venue vandalism", Kunal has put out two reasons. He says that he didn't get the permission to seat 45 people at a venue that can seat more and secondly, threats were made to shut down the venue if he was allowed to perform. Kunal captioned his statement post as "Cancelling comedy shows 101" and also added a sarcastic 5-step process on "how to cancel a show". He also compared the cancellation of his shows to that of Munawar Faruqui's and said that people can “find solace in the fact that the ruling class is at-least trying to oppress with equality.” Check out his tweet below: Cancelling comedy shows 101. 😎😎😎 pic.twitter.com/fN0U7N8QrX — Kunal Kamra (@kunalkamra88) December 1, 2021 Actress Swara Bhasker reacted to the post by Kunal Kamra and wrote, “20 days of daily shows of #KunalKamra cancelled in #Bangalore Are we still kidding ourselves about being an ‘open democracy’ Stand strong Kamra! He said, “We are not very sure why exactly the show has been cancelled. We did not get in touch with the artist. In fact, a few people had gathered before the venue yesterday demanding the organisers cancel the show. According to them, he used expletives in his previous posts and it seemed very controversial. These people who gathered before the venue included the residents in the neighbourhood. No complaints have been lodged so far. Looks like the organisers cancelled the show on their own. They hadn't asked us for any protection”. View the full article

  9. A while back, Vir Das faced the brunt of some social media users who bashed him for his ‘Two Indias’ monologue. People felt that he insulted our country in a foreign land. And now, another comedian has landed in big trouble and things are not looking good for him career-wise. All of them got arrested later and also, the local court rejected their bail pleas and sent them directly to judicial custody. Later, several comics including Varun Grover, Vir Das, Kaneez Surka, Agrima Joshua, and Rohan Joshi took to social media to voice their strong opinions against this injustice.
